I recently visited Montfort Mediterranean Grill in Ancaster to pick up an order, and unfortunately, I had a deeply unsettling experience. When I arrived, the young man behind the cash register, who appeared to be a family member of the owner, did not greet me or acknowledge my presence. After I politely asked if he worked there and mentioned that his customer service could use improvement, he reacted unexpectedly. He became upset, raising his voice and speaking aggressively. I was taken aback by the outburst and felt very uncomfortable. As I was leaving, the situation escalated when he moved toward me in a threatening manner. He threatened to assault me and continued with verbal assault and threats. I never once threatened him. He was a young guy and I knew he was full of anger. I used to be like that, so I just tried to keep my distance but he kept approaching me. Thankfully, other employees intervened and stopped him, but the scene had already caused other customers, including families, to leave the restaurant abruptly. While I chose not to involve the authorities, the incident left me shocked. I had simply come to pick up an order, but I felt unsafe. I would advise others to be cautious when visiting this location.

Excellent good, fast service, very nice staff

Had lunch there today with my son. Amazing customer service. I would eat the tzatziki off the floor it s so delicious. Chicken with rice is highly recommend. Can t wait to come back and eat it again.

We ordered take out., One pita burger, (hamburger), half of it was all red. When I called the restaurant, I was told to bring back and they would take a look at it. We have ordered there weekly. The same people have not been there lately. They knew us by name when we ordered. Will never go back there again. I will tell my friends and family.

Same experience as many others recently, as it appears the owners are not there... the Food itself was great, but we were seated with no cutlery, no side plates, no water, and had to ask for all three. The Falafal came with no tahini sauce and we had to ask for the other sauces as well. Corona bottles are $10 each, which surprised us. The servers were in street clothes and seemed disorganized.

I love the Ancaster Montforts & have been to 5 of them! By far the friendliest & fastest around! I recommend to everyone at every opportunity!

Horrible customer service. Tried to order online and their exact words for help was No Chance, too busy . Went inside restaurant to order and the greeting was even worse. AND there were only three tables in the entire restaurant.

We had 1 mixed meat grill with rice salad and lentil soup including pitas. What a great dinner that my husband and I shared. Not only was it delicious but there was enough for lunch tomorrow.!!!!

The best kebab restaurant in Hamilton. I had a lamb & kafta skewers on a bed of rice, along with fattoush & hummus. The pita bread that came with the meal was very delicious and reminded me of the restaurant bread back in Lebanon. The food was delicious and I strongly recommend to visit and try the food. This will be my go-to restaurant now in Hamilton.

Stopped in on our way through Canada my first experience with Mediterranean food. It was amazing! Hot and fresh, staff was amazing, very friendly and attentive. Will definitely stop again!

When you eat a restaurant and it tastes the exact same way when it captured your taste buds 18 years ago it says alot about the people behind it! Highly recommend!

Upon sitting down, there was a table of obnoxiously loud women laughing and giggling as they were drinking their wine. The entire restaurant was completely empty.. The server took our order. Everything was fine for some reason. She poured my drink into a glass which I did not ask and after our dinner came it came with the appetizers all at once with no dipping sauces or spoons to serve the sauce. After I asked for the sauce, I received an onion sauce and had a garlic sauce. Did not get any seafood sauce to go with our appetizers nor spoons to serve it. Had to ask. Not sure if this is new staff or new servers, but I have been going to mod forts my entire life. And have never been served it without dipping sauces or spoons right? Then I knew something was up, especially that we got our main course with our appetizers all at the same time I will not be returning to this location. It is hard to find a a good one

We ve been fans of Montfort for years, usually eating in Burlington or Oakville. Lentil soup and chicken in a pita are reliable staples! This location is ideal for meeting people in meadowlands before a movie or when you want to sit down with a group (ours was seven people) and have lots of options. Consistently delicious, with family-friendly service. If you haven t tried their maza plates, treat yourself!

Nice place, found it to expensive, I have been to the Royal Hotel. We had 2 Caesars each $14 each with our meal no dessert cost was $137.00 with tip of 20% total was $164.76 I would rather go to other places for that price.

I am posting this review on behalf of someone named Hassan. The atmosphere was pleasent and the service was kind and fast. The food was good but I feel I paid too much, the salmon could have been seasoned better. Other then that, a decent experience. Vegetarian options: Many types of seafood and non meat items. Dietary restrictions: Both Vegetarian and Gluten free options. Parking: In a plaza.

I went to this place for dinner. Place is clean and food is tasty . But the portions are too small. We ordered sweet potato fries and I could count them on my fingers And price is not cheap . So we ended up spending a-lot more and not enough food on the plate . We have been to Burlington location and had way better experience with portion size , quality and service overall. I wouldn t visit again.

Lots of options for different meals. The meat was slightly dry (lamb) so definitely needed the sauces. Ceaser salad was just lettuce and croutons with ceaser dressing so wasnt to impressed by that. Other then that the food was decent

Very nice place!

We ve been coming to this location for years! Used to dine in a lot (pre-pandemic) and love it. We are no longer in town, but we still do takeout when we are driving through and it hasn t changed. Food is great as well as staff. Always so welcoming and delicious! One of our go-to places for sure when we re in town.

Love me some Montfort when I pass through the city. For starters, the ancaster location works best for me as im sure others, and ample parking too. The portion of meat is incredible. Im a huge fan of chicken shawarma and have ordered from many restaurants, but very few check all three points at once; how much I pay, what I receive in terms of portion, lastly, how it tastes. It didnt look like much until I unwrapped my wrap and bit into shawarma heaven. I also ordered their famous Montfort chicken that came with a lot of rice, pitas and a salad. I wish I didnt have to share. Its that good. With taxes I spent nearly 50 dollars, but the large portion of food, minus the wrap which i didnt share, will feed three adults total and they wont feel hungry afterwards. Thank you for making delicious food :)

No where on your Google site or on your website to do state that you are only open for takeout. Disappointing to drive all that way for in person dining and you are closed. Update your profile and website, not that difficult.

So I havent been to a Montfort in 23 years. We were driving by the Ancaster location and wanted to see if it was just as good as we remembered it. Let me tell you it was exactly how I remembered it. I had the chicken pita and my wife the shawarma pita. I just wanted to say it was so delicious and for sure the highlight of my weekend. Thank you so much we will be back

I love love love love! The owners are the sweetest souls on the planet and the food makes you feel at home. The best soul food, when I am in need of comfort food I always come to Montfort s. This location has the best lentil soup I ve ever had no one else s compares! I strongly recommend the falafel pita as well, it s so good!

The lady who took care of us throughout really made us feel at home.. Even offered extra rice at no charge . We were well taken care of and guided throughout the entire process of menu selection and receiving the food. Food quality is top notch super healthy and everything tastes like it was made on the spot.. Including the sauces!

We ordered take out, it was fast and the food was good. The kabab plate has only two pieces maybe three would be better as theyre not too big. The falafel plate with six pieces were perfect! The baklava dessert was delicious!

A very delicious, authentic souvlaki dinner on a Monday evening on the way home from Hamilton. Attentive staff. Reminds me of old time restaurants before fast-food was the norm. Homey, clean and friendly. A taste from my Mediterranean family roots!

I wish I got more fries

The food tasted fresh and good, but the prices were unreasonable. In terms of quality, quality, and atmosphere, it shouldnt cost this much. As well, I found it extremely rude that the server told us we couldnt have a water bottle on the table since outside food is not allowed.

Just had a delicious steak dinner, good quality meat cooked to perfection and packaged with care I was so appreciative seeing that thank you so much. The soup of the day was absolutely delicious and the home fries were seasoned and cooked so well I can tell it was made with care so I thank and appreciate!!!

Never disappoints! Montfort chicken is delicious and quality chicken and salad.

Tried this place a couple of months ago, the shawarma was below average. However I did not write a review then. But what prompted me to write this review was the prices. Usually I am not much a of a complainer when it comes to price, but today the guy tried to charge me 3.50 for a 500 ml bottle of nestle water. Way out of hand. Won t bother with this place again.

Wonderful owners. Even though they are short-staffed and don t normally allow dine-in. It was an early dinner and no one else was there so they let us. They were very welcoming and the food was excellent.

Love dining and getting take out. One of my favourites is the MontHill Chicken Salad with pineapple. Welcoming environment and the owners treat you like family!

I couldnt give a minus 5 star rating. Their onion sauce doesnt follow company standards at every other montfort. Customer service is terrible and rude. Quality is sub par.

Very pricey for its quality

This review is service rated, as Im typically happy with the food quality. I ordered the mixed grill for 4 for my family mothers Day. I placed the order in the morning for pickup at 615pm. I received confirmation the order was processed and a reminder to be on time for pick up. At 615 my order was not prepared because the price that they have advertised on their website was a special not being honoured today. My husband was informed they couldnt reach me by phone, and because of the 10$ price difference they didnt prepare my order. So, my table is set, my 3 kids are STILL waiting for dinner(its now 7:05pm). Its Mothers Day! I didnt hear my phone as I was with my family! The dinner was already 100+$...just get it ready!..it was your error and frankly speaking ridiculous that you arent honouring the price you posted and this was your reasoning for choosing not to prepare our meal. . I didnt even care about the price...I just wanted a care free dinner with my family in the dinner hour on Mothers Day....... Update. ..we recieved our order at 7:25 pm..the manager/owner contends this delay was my fault for not answering my phone to confirm I would pay the extra. It is mothers Day. I was spending time with my family off my phone. Thanks for taking no responsibility in your error or attempting to rectify the situation. For anyone wondering, yes we also paid the higher price. Happy Mothers Day to me.

You get LOTS of sumptuous Mediterranean food that can serve to feed you for days if so desired! I have always enjoyed their meals and would recommend their culinary skills to anyone!

Chicken shawarma was disgusting - fishy and OLD. Had one bite and gagged, truly shocked and disappointed. Threw the whole thing out cuz inedible but guarantee if i ate it I would have gotten food poisoning. Food safety seems to be an issue. I ordered today at 3:07pm on UberEats. I also got greek fries, hummus and greek salad. Fries were edible luckily but sour and not great. Hummus was very lemoney and not tasty at all. Greek salad was decent, olives tasted off.

Worst overpriced chicken schwarma in the area. No toppings or sauces added, just chicken and 2 small containers on the side (one with your sauce and the other with onions). The pita is the circumference of a baseball and it has the greasiest chicken Ive seen in a schwarma. Go to ANY Osmows or Venice Beach thats located in Harvard Square for a good sized schwarma with lots of toppings thats actually worth your money instead of this place.

Love ordering from here. Food is always delicious and the lady who owns it (I think she does) is so super nice and accommodating. Always a smile and makes sure our meal is exactly what we ordered.

Whaaaaa??? For beans and bread??? Seriously??? The service was slow...ive been to better montforts...like the burlington store...personally drive to another store..

honestly ill keep it simple, they were not friendly at all, the man and the lady were being extremely rude because I usually go to a different location (in mississauga) and the prices are drastically different (their platter is 33.99 whereas the mississauga platter is 18.99) and honestly I love food so I really wouldnt mind spending the money I was just shocked (I paid for it anyways) but they became extremely hostile explaining the location I go to is a fake and they should be shut down. Anyways I hope this is just a wake up call to whoever actually owns this restaurant to learn how to speak to customers and make decent food.

Too expensive for the quality of food. I love shawarma and have tried many places. So far this is the most I have paid for any shawarma plate and the food was just ok. Will not go again or recommend.

The particular Montfort is a an amazing location. Dala and the staff are so friendly and the food is the best Montfort food you will get. I ve used them for catering and everything was flawless. I just dropped by for lunch as they are pickup only and since it s been a while I d forgotten how delicious their food really is. I m sure they have experienced a downturn in business because of Covid but I m going to make a point of coming up from downtown to get food more often. It s totally worth the drive. Awesome job guys, as always.

Montfort chicken pita was very good. The recipe for the hummus must have changed as it wasnt as creamy and delicious as before. It was bitter. The fatoush salad tasted like it was refrigerated for a day or two. Wont be back at this location for a while.

First of all I have been a long time Montforts customer for over 15 years. I have visited all the Burlington locations as well as the Waterdown location and Oakville location and I have never had a problem. However, I got ripped off when I ordered the Jebneh appetizer for take out at the Ancaster location. Having ordered this appetizer several times before I knew that the portion was quite large and is normally served with their complementry garlic sauce and tomato sauce. To my disappointment I only received 9 small pieces of cheese with garnish and I had to pay for the garlic sauce which they charged me as extra. Unfortunately by the time I realized this I had already arrived at my destination, but I decided to call. I spoke to the server who took my order and I explained that I only received 9 pieces and this dish is served with more. All I got was excuses and one in particular which I heard her manager say to her was that it was smaller because of the weight of the cheese. I can see that I was getting nowhere and they were not interested in rectifying the situation. Please see the attached pictures of the Jebneh from the Ancaster location vs one of the Burlington locations. Also upon further review, the Ancasters location price was $1.04 more. Do not go to this location unless you dont mind getting ripped off.

It was the epitome of okay but overpriced. Maybe because we are in Ancaster, not sure. Usually we go to the Upper James location, the food is better there. The salads were expensive and they used iceberg lettuce. The club soda was flat so they offered me a Bubbly which turned out to be $3.99! Craziness.

Worst customer service in the world! My wife and I took our 4 and 3 yr old boys for dinner. We asked that our children s food come out first. It came out the same time with the fries coming out 10min after we all had our plates. The place had a few customers but basically dead and the manager walked by us and jokingly and told our boys to be quite. Or so we thought it was jokingly. He again came over and told us to keep our children quite. Spent over a hundred dollars there on a simple dinner and have never been treated like garbage before. They were by no means being uncontrolled but there children. Did not feel welcomed by him at all! Extremely rude across the board If you have children you are not welcomed there!

Lamb dish was very good, well spiced.

The food was excellent and reasonably priced, service was very good. Clean and modern but not fancy inside. I had a fresh and very flavorful falafel. Served with 2 side sauces that added nicely to the flavor of the sandwich. Lots of parking here. Thumbs up for quality and service!

Pineapple chicken is the best

My daughter and I arrived at about 7:30 PM We were the only customers. The restaurant was EMPTY. We ordered our individual maza plates at $14.99 each The waitress was pleasant...processed our order. Brought out our plates and 4 pitas I called her over because I always order the shrimp and it comes with their homemade sauce. She told me its not included with the Mazza. I said we also always get the garlic onion and tzatziki sauce. Again she said its not included. But we can order it...for $. We declined. I told her we frequently go to the Upper James location and have always been offered these EXTRAS as they serve it. Weve also frequented the westdale location with exceptional service! Seriously, how many cents would it have cost montfort owner of stone church branch to accommodate his customers paltry request? Ill NEVER BE BACK AND ILL SPREAD THE WORD.!!!!

Good food friendly service 4 stars because not authentic middle eastern 100%. For example they use pineapple with the chicken which is not normal in middle eastern food. There is no Turkish/ Greek coffee.

Food is great, unfortunately the waitress will try to DEFRAUD you. Ordered a bottle of pop and could clearly see the waitress at the bar pull out a can and pour into cup. Thought it was an innocent mistake, but she then went ahead and charged me for a bottle anyways ... make sure to double check that bill if youre brave enough to dine here.

Really poor service even though the restaurant was empty. The salad and hummus seemed to be a few days old. The lamb was not properly cooked. They did not have a diaper change station in their bathroom. Will not be returning.

Montfort grill house is a quiet little intimate joint serving up very good Mediterranean food the service was excellent the atmosphere was relaxed and the grub was great stop in for a quick bite or stop in to unwind and fill up and yes they have wines and brews so bring your appetite and get ready to dig in because the portions are hearty, enjoy!

Unfortunately, we were not impressed!! Their food isnt as good as the other Monforts. And, there is no ambience. Candles arent lit and there is no music playing. Plus, they dont have a kids menu to look at but the waitress said its the same as the other restaurants so just order what we want and shell add it to the bill. Well... she didnt tell us its $6 more than the other restaurants kids menus and you have to pay for your drink on top of that. My sons meal of a small handful of fries and some chicken and pineapple was $20. Plus, they brought out our food at the same time as our appetizers. They were both hot so it made it impossible to eat. Also, they had a tarp hanging from the wall on the new side of restaurant. It felt like we were eating in tent. They actually charged us $3.50 for a small glaas of kids milk. They didnt tell us it didnt cone eith the meal. Overall, I will not go back. The one on upper James or Waterdown are way nice!

The food is always delicious and the staff is nice. Its a little pricy, but its worth indulging every once in a while.

It is undoubtedly the best Mediterranean restaurant in Ontario. The attention and service was wonderful, the quality of the food exquisite, the speed, temperature and friendliness was fantastic. Recommended with five stars.

I find this location to be the best one in the city. Food is always tasty and the customer service on the phone and in person is always great. I usually order for takeout and they always have the food ready on time.

I always go to Monfort in Burlington and its fantastic! I was near ancaster and tried this location and I will never go back!! The portions were very small (at the same price) and when I called to comment I was told to call the head office. I was not happy about the response, portion sizes and will not return to this location
