The Aberdeen Tavern is a neighbourhood restaurant and bar set in a beautiful old bank setting in Hamilton. With comfort food as the primary focus, the kitchen team works closely with local farmers and sustainable food importers to ensure the highest of quality is never compromised.
Another excellent evening at the Aberdeen Tavern. Food, service and atmosphere were exceptional, as always. It made our first night out since having our newborn extremely enjoyable. We highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
I recently hosted a private event at The Apartment at Aberdeen and it exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was simply outstanding – beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. Every dish was a hit with my guests. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who anticipated our needs and ensured everyone felt welcome. They went above and beyond to make the event seamless and stress-free. As for the drinks, they were top-notch! The curated selection was impressive, and the cocktails were crafted to perfection, complementing the meal beautifully. A big thank you to the team for making the event such a success. Highly recommend Aberdeen Tavern for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion – they truly deliver with flying colors!
Great service! The food was fresh, I loved that the potatoes were so crispy, probably made the same day. Same for the calamari, the chimichurri sauce it came with was incredible 👌🏾 I liked the old and untouched vibe I got from the building and the portraits inside. Well thought out, I will come back next time I’m in the Hamilton area. The cheesecake stuffed french toast was to die for! Only thing to be aware of is it is a relatively big portion, I would share it with someone next time 😉
It is one of the most attractive locations to sit and enjoy amazing food. When you are led to your table, you are made welcome by the best servers. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable with lots of natural light during the day and mood lighting with candles at night. Now for the food. I would recommend the tenderloin or striploin stake. I have tried both and would say they both were cooked to perfection. I have also tried their salmon, chicken, and duck. All amazing and I feel like the chefs 100% know their flavors. The accompanying sides are all amazing. You see that they put as much effort into their sides as they do their mains. Lastly, for desert, I would recommend their cheesecake or carrot cake.
Rented the upstairs for an event and it was great! Food was amazing, atmosphere was perfect for what we needed, arranging the space went very smooth, our servers were wonderful, and Dan (manager) was on hand to make sure everyone was happy. I look forward to renting the space for all future events and highly recommend!
Hosted our small wedding reception in their upstairs private dining area, 'The Apartment' and everything was better than expected! They allowed us early entry to bring our stuff to decorate the space accordingly. The space was cozy and intimate which is exactly what we were looking for. It was a very elegent and beautiful dinner reception. The service was really great and everyone was so kind and welcoming. Our food was amazing, everyone enjoyed it a lot! We would highly recommend renting this space and would return for future events.
Have heard good things about the Aberdeen Tavern for years now and finally decided to check it out. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. The decor is beautiful, the atmosphere great, and the patio is very nice (which is where my wife I sat), with vines growing up along the building. The menu is small but the choices were still varied. We ordered the ploughman’s board and braised duck grilled cheese bites for starters and both were fantastic. The ploughmans board had a nice selection of local cheeses and meats, and the braised duck grilled cheese bites were just insanely delicious. My wife and I both ordered the Aberdeen burger for our mains and we both loved it. A nice simple but classic burger. Additionally, the bar tender makes one hell of an old fashioned. Highly recommend checking this place out. 10/10
Finally made it to the Aberdeen Tavern! The restaurant is so elegant. Dim lighting and lovely ambiance. Absolutely a fine dining experience, a real treat. Our table of four enjoyed 2 orders of calamari (Devine) then our individual meals with a couple of glasses of wine. We were treating ourselves, good food and company. The pork chop was unbelievable. Service was not rushed and adequately attended to. Tip: Parking after five available free next to the restaurant.
I have been coming to Aberdeen tavern for many years for many- their service and quality of food is top notch - cannot recommend enough! Also very accommodating of dietary restrictions.
Christmas lunch at this cozy restaurant. Atmosphere and service were fantastic. Food however was sub par. The Aberdeen speciality salad was bland and over dressed. Parsnip soup was pleasant but nothing special. Risotto was not good at all over cooked and over salted. The beef sandwich was very good. Had much higher expectations for the food quality at this semi fine dining restaurant
Busy for a Saturday night at 8:30pm. Honestly must have been understaffed either in the kitchen or front of the house - they had a party upstairs so I get it. But waiting 1 hour for mains is ridiculous half our party had left when we were given dessert (on the house), after I had already asked for the bill. Don t think I ll be back it wasn t the best experience especially in December around Christmas
Had brunch here yesterday with my mom and two sisters. It was our first time at Aberdeen. I was looking for a brunch spot that was convenient for my family who were coming from Guelph and St. Catharines. Im so happy I chose Aberdeen Tavern. We had a fantastic experience. Service, food, ambience was all great. Such a nice spot for brunch or any meal for that matter. Highly recommend and will be back!
I was a guest here for my Birthday, and Im happy to have had the experience. The food was delicious, and service was top notch. I highly recommend the Aberdeen Tavern for an enjoyable dining experience.
I felt everything comfortable. Its not super fancy menu but very satisfying.
5 start on everything. Expert friendly professional staff, super food and menu options, classy relaxed atmosphere. I never would have thought roasted carrots could be so good, lol. Don t think about it, just go here.
The beef burger is fantastic, and the atmosphere is amazing for dinner
Best restaurant , I love the food. GAGE was very attentive. Would recommend this for everyone
We had a company event here and we had a private room in the apartment. Everything was amazing, from arranging the details in advance with Brandy to our host, Raquelle, who was unbelievable. Thank you to everyone involved at Aberdeen Tavern for a wonderful evening and exceeding our expectations.
Sadly we had a cold and expensive meal there yesterday. Salad was soggy and tasteless; butter chicken cold and broccoli too hard to cut. Have had previously very good meals there bit this one was very disappointing!
We hosted our wedding at Aberdeen Tavern and were blown away by the high quality of the food, staff and atmosphere. We did a full buy out and we, along with our guests, were extremely happy with the service and food - large delicious portions, the food was hot and on time, drinks were great and the service was top notch. The planning process was seamless, with very clear and easy communication with the restaurant and Equal Parts (Kaitlin is the best!). We are so happy we booked our wedding here!
Gorgeous decor, friendly service, and delicious food. Wasnt as expensive as I expected either.
Wow, this place blew us away!!!!! Amazing service, amazing api s, amazing main courses, amazing overall. Cannot wait to be back, beautiful place & overall 0 complaints. Our party of 5 highly recommend!
Not the same level of food quality and service as it used to be. Parking: Parking available after 5 pm. Food : 2/5 |
A very civilized experience with friendly staff and a no rush atmosphere. A good place to go back in time to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere of a bygone era in an older historic building.
The atmosphere was wonderful but the food unfortunately was very disappointing I was brought the wrong dinner also, but the waitress was very kind and didn t make me pay for it. Plus I got free dessert.
Amazing brunch, phenomenal service. Great atmosphere! Will go again and again.
Amazing experience. Went for a friends birthday for the Steakhouse Sunday and everything was perfect. Thank you to our servers and the amazing kitchen staff for taking such good care of us. Cant wait to return.
If youre looking for amazing food in a classy dining atmosphere, Aberdeen Tavern is your place! The food is cooked to perfection, and the servers are very friendly and on point. Would definitely recommend bringing your friends for a good evening of deliciousness and merriment.
If you are so inclined, sit at the kitchen bar. We always do. We had a great bottle of Pinot Noir (Oregon), the fries, gnocchi and caesar salad. All excellent. The staff made the evening. Chef, Keaton, Gage. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Had cocktails and appetizers on the patio - Everything was delicious! Service was stellar! Will definitely be going back, and would absolutely recommend!
Gorgeous atmosphere. Enjoyed the perfect salmon. First time but surely not the last.
We called to make a reservation because we wanted to take our family out for dinner. We were a party of 13 we were basically refused. We were told that we had to book either eight people or book the upstairs and guarantee money of $2200. we also were referred to the diplomat, I m not sure what kind of serve service this is is a common practice for a restaurant to refuse a party of 13 because they might not make their quota I m not understanding this and then to refer us to another restaurant. Needless to say I would never recommend this place. The gentleman was less than nice and it s all about money making, someplace else to go in the city
Atmosphere was great, and cocktails and other drinks were great. Bryan from the bar was awesome. Unfortunately, the food was not good. We all basically sent back half eaten plates of food from a group of 4 that ordered different meals. Huge waste, won t be back. We noticed other people sending back half eaten meals also from other tables, so it wasn t just our table. Will go elsewhere
Exceptional dining and overall experience! Jenna our server was fantastic. She covered all the bases with impeccable timing and a smile. Our food was remarkable. Spaghetti carbonara was the best I have ever had as was the calamari. Filet mignon meal was done to perfection. The atmosphere is chic with a warm buzz of noise and activity. This is a gem of a restaurant that you really must try. Well done Aberdeen Tavern!!
2nd time; Food was absolutely fantastic again. We finished everything again and service could not have been better. They let us stay and chat for a while after since they werent too busy and continued to fill our water and make us feel welcome. Absolutely extremely highly recommend you go here. They have a cute little patio at the side too if you want to be outside. 1st time; Food was absolutely mouth watering delicious. We finished everything. Service was great, atmosphere was relaxed and volume was good. You could easily talk at your table and not feel anyone else could hear or that you were intruding on anyone else. Highly recommend. We will be back Vegetarian options: Veg gnocchi and various salads Parking: Parking lot to the side after 5pm weekdays and any time weekends
I don t often post reviews. But felt it necessary after our experience. We celebrated a friend s birthday. And without notifying staff ahead of time. Our waiter, Bryan, quickly picked up on the occasion, notifying the owner. They ended up bringing us complimentary champagne and a dessert. The service was top notch. Bryan was extremely attentive and provided excellent suggestions. The owner stopped by to ensure everything was to our liking. And of course- the duck breast, octopus and venison was cooked to perfection. Strongly recommend and will be going again!
Service was prompt and very friendly...our meals were so delicious...the restaurant itself is lovely... very clean and a relaxing environment... highly recommend!
Sitting outside is great, very noisy from the cars though. The sitting inside has a bad old smell. The food is really not that great, and the proportion are quite small for the price. And the service wasnt great as well, had to wait 5 minutes for someone to come sit us while the restaurant was empty, they dont serve any free appetizers like bread, olives or something like all restaurants do... well, I Will not come to this restaurant again!
Great lunch spot. Tasty food, small focused menu (which I like). Great service. A bit on the pricey side, but the quality was high. I had the chicken parm sandwich, which was pretty solid. Fries and salad were good. I d try the duck grilled cheese or burger next time.
Cool atmosphere. Good service. Unfortunately the food was quite bad. The sauce on my Halibut was terrible (split and flavorless). My partners Octopus Fusili was very acidic and lacked octopus. And dessert was no better. $13 for 3, microscopic churros that were undercooked. It was such a disappointing meal for so much money. Hopefully this was just a bad night for the kitchen.
Great meal! Quite delicious
Great food and amazing staff. Loved the Summer Eats menu too!
We had a wonderful experience at Aberdeen thanks to the excellent recommendations and service provided by our server Jenna and her Team. The food and wine pairings were spot on! Highly recommend.
Great spot with excellent service and food.
Aberdeen Tavern was a great experience. The service was great, and the food was awesome. The waitress gave us great suggestions on the menu. It was about $100 per person thats with drinks. Good job, Aberdeen.
What a nice surprise - they had cheaters that I could borrow to read the menu. Nice touch. Once again the flavours were on point. The Caesar was substantial and scrumptious. The ceviche was bursting with colour and definition. The service was good. However, the wait time for the mains was substantial. This is the second time that this has occurred. My meal looked like it had been sitting for a bit? Maybe waiting for my hubby s meal to get done. Tasted good but not timely.
It was my first time eating there and everything was outstanding.i commended the manager and staff individually and collectively. I will definitely go there again.
Great little place.
Nice interior Amazing people working Good food Beautiful music Food : 5/5 |
A bank converted to a restaurant. Love the decor and the food is always good. Great wine selections, too.
When we were seated our server asks if we are celebrating any special occasion and I indicate it is my sisters birthday, when he presents us with the bill I mention to him that he must have forgot it was her birthday, his response was NO but you didn t order dessert. Why did you ask?? Food
Very cute brunch spot. Food , service and decor were excellent . Will surely go back
We, as a group of 16 plus a toddler enjoyed Sunday Brunch yesterday and I felt compelled to review. It was excellent! The staff were very cordial, helpful and accommodating. The toddlers order was brought out quickly and was a generous serving. My omelette was exquisite! The best Ive ever eaten. It was cooked perfectly, not rushed, crusty or dry. As I find home fries so filling the server offered me half serving of home fries and half serving of salad greens. The decor is inviting. The restroom (ladies) is also lovely. I would return here in a heartbeat. Thank you Aberdeen Tavern for such a pleasant experience!
As someone who has worked in the kitchen there all Ill say is this... If you valued customers so they say... Saw the kitchen and the prep area.. unlabeled containers no date or product info. Unsafe storage of food. Cooked meats next to raw and meat just sitting openly unwrapped in the fridge. Meat being marinated in open top bins or just a thin piece of plastic wrap poorly covering containers sitting on the ground in the walk in fridge not even raised on milk crates. (The mice are more then pleased about this) Chicken being processed already starting to spoil (giving off rotten egg smell). The beef grilled cheese sometimes the meat is being served past a week and a half old I had to hold my breath when ever I dealt with either. Poor management and its clear it flows to the kitchen. I could keep going on but the list would be endless. O one more thing. Soups instead of tossing the last unused portion they will serve it till it is gone bad or not. (Heat kills everything right? Ahh hech lets serve the last 2 litres of the week and a half old soup) If they think its okay they will just add new ingredients to the old and call it the soup of the day. Misleading... its the soup from last week that we added ingredients to today. You make your judgement. The only time I ever ate anything from there was when my hands prepared it fresh otherwise I was weary being that the majority of things are unlabeled. Customers deserve to know their food is being prepared proper right from the start using proper protocol which is definately not the case. You all have the right to inquire and even see where and how your food is being prepared. Ask for a tour of the kitchen and fridges no need to go down to the prep hall seeing as the front of house kitchen will be a good indicator of how poor a state the downstairs is aswell. Its alot worse downstairs.
The Cobb salad was great. Our server was very friendly and professional. The deco was nice. I would recommend this place.
Great ambience and pleasant service but unfortunately the food for brunch did not meet our expectations given the ratings. It was fine, just not great. Our table had eggs benny, which was fine, the smash burger, which was just okay and the chicken and waffle, which was not that great. Will try this place for dinner to give it a fair shake.
The wait staff are incredible..friendly, welcoming, attentive and professional. The room is lovely..the seating so comfy. Parking: Street parking was good..learned for the first time theres free parking in a lot close by after 5:00.
I wanted to say thanks for making my friend s birthday amazing Your food, service and ambiance is always amazing, but Alex or Andre, sorry, not good with names ( please put on bill.., he served party 59 on April 6, 2024) made it even more amazing and special!
We had a fantastic time at the Tavern. Dan provided excellent service and his recommendations were spot on. The food and atmosphere were exquisite!
Delicious!!
Both food and cocktails were excellent. I had the braised beef and my wife had the trout. Both amazing. If youre in the area stop in for an amazing time.
Service was great, food delicious.
Aberdeen Tavern made my birthday celebration exceptionally special. I am grateful for their warm hospitality and excellent service. Thank you so much!
I am a wedding photographer. Recently, I was invited to shoot a wedding at the Aberdeen Apartment. I can t say enough great things about the wonderful people who were taking care of all the guests s needs. The young man and a lady (sorry- bad with names) were super nice and very attentive. Their patience with all of us mingling and moving around, while taking group photos was greatly appreciated - all, while they were trying to transform the hall from the ceremony set up to a dining area. As a working vendor we are often brushed off or ignored. An offer of a glass of water and a kind attitude made a huge impression on me. Also, many thanks to a friendly bartender who was so helpful and accommodating while taking photos by the bar! Those two glasses of champaign were a perfect finishing touch to my photos. You guys rock! Thanks to All!
Taos Google Restaurant Reviews Great ambiance inside, very old school and sophisticated for a brunch place rather than the newer hip and modern brunch restaurants popping up. This restaurant does its classics very well. We got the smashed burger and the eggs benedict with home fries and they hit the spot! Pricing was a bit on the higher end for classic brunch items but the service was great and worth it. Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 FINAL SCORE 4.5/5 Parking: Rexall beside has a lot, also Street parking.
This restaurant is absolutely incredible. Finding parking is a tad difficult but so worth it for an evening in this gorgeous restaurant. They have a small menu with a little bit of everything - and I definitely recommend that you try it ALL! After going there for the first time, I quickly returned a week later with my family for them to experience as well. The restaurant itself is very cozy and the staff are so kind and personable. I recommend you try: the Braised Beef Grilled Cheese Bites, Truffle Fries, Pork Chop, Duck Confit, and the cocktails are all delicious!!!
Beautiful restaurant and great atmosphere. Music wasn t blasting, perfect for a romantic evening or time together with family or close friends. My wife and I shared the duck special, medium rare, skin was perfectly crispy and fatty, delightful. Also had the squash risotto which was very good, right amount of cheese. It was a little undercooked but still wonderful. Had the red blend for wine and a special tequila peach schnapps. Both were enjoyed. For dessert we had the carrot cake which was moist and the chocolate crème brûlée which was a first. Loved it all. Will be back again.
Being new to Hamilton I found this place after work one day. The people, food and atmosphere are so amazing we decided to have our wedding reception there. Brian is a king, the chefs are top notch and the management couldnt be more helpful. Their crab cakes a phenomenal but so is everything else in the menu. Would recommend 100% for a easy drink or a main event.
Impeccable all around. The food, atmosphere and service top notch. Second time being there and most recently March 16 for a party of five. They loved it. Top notch for a great dinner and service.
The entire staff at The Aberdeen Tavern should be very proud of their restaurant. We had a terrific meal here for our anniversary and they knocked it out of the park! It started when we walked in the door and were welcomed right away. The tableside service was terrific and the food was elevated and delicious and the chef should be commended. Thank you The Aberdeen Tavern for taking part in our evening and we will definitely be back! P.S. This was our first visit
Been here about five times over the last year and it does not disappoint. Great food, service and atmosphere! We bring all of our out-of-town friends here when they visit and it s always a hit. Highly recommend. Dinner last night served by Gage was lovely. Entire service staff is great. Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian options. Risotto in particular.
Food here is always good. A neighborhood favorite
Great spot for brunch. Staff & food are great. Thank you
Very nice place and the food was delicious. Well definitely be back.
My husband and I had outstanding dinner and drinks here. Our reservation was delayed by about 10 minutes while they cleared our table so they welcomed us at the bar and the bartender quickly served us. Once our table was ready the manager brought our drinks to our table for us. I had the chicken breast with baked beans and mushrooms and it was beyond delicious. My husband had the striploin and had zero complaints. I would highly recommend the visiting if you are looking for a special place to celebrate or just treat yourself. Its excellent.
We have been dining here for years and it never disappoints! The spaghetti carbonara is the best carbonara I ve ever had!
As Im not someone who frequents Hamiltons fancier restaurants, Aberdeen Tavern was an excellent introduction! I had visited on a holiday so I believe the menu worked a bit differently but overall an amazing night. Here are some highlights; The quality of produce was exceptional. Specifically, my family and I are avid mushroom pickers (kind of odd I know, but we are Eastern European) and the mushroom ricotta dumplings had me reminiscing of being a kid and having the entire kitchen smell like fresh wild mushrooms. Of course, the food was generally of amazing quality. Im no culinary expert but every part of every dish was so complimentary. Nothing was ever too much or too little! The service was so satisfying, not overwhelming but consistently warm and considerate. + love the outfits! The timing of the dishes was amazing! Nothing took longer than expected, nor did anything feel rushed. ABOVE ALL, I was so surprised to feel absolutely FULL by the end of it. Namely, the holiday had a prix fixe menu and so I was slightly worried about possibly not getting satiated by the end of the four courses. Thankfully, that was not at all an issue. Every dish was so perfectly sized! I highly recommend visiting Aberdeen Tavern and I most definitely plan on visiting their other locations/chain restaurants. Vegetarian options: Wide variety of options even for a holiday menu! Pleasantly surprised. Parking: A good amount of space, even on a busy holiday the area had enough spots. Furthermore, there is always street parking which wouldve worked fine, but its always nice to see a free parking lot!
Wow Welcome to a stand out culinary experience It s obvious that all of the staff care about their guests and go above and beyond what you might expect at a dining event Stick with something familiar or try something new. You will not be disappointed Highly recommend
Hamilton s best kept secret. Small menu but something for everyone. Nice sharing plates/board. Excellent efficient, friendly service. Carrot cake and cinnamon ice cream was delicious.
Dec 26 2023. It was excellent. Atmosphere is lovely. Calm and warmly welcoming. Service was amazing, not rushed. I had the lamb shank which was amazing. Taste was delicious. Pork chop was very good with beets , potatoes . We always enjoy our visit. Food
Food was amazing...service was superb! First time I went there. Cant wait to go back
Went for a work lunch and everyone loved it. Decor and atmosphere are lovely. Food was delicious.
We love this place. The best atmosphere for our tastes. Hoping they put the paella back on the menu the best I ve ever had. Parking: We parked in the back lot.
One of my favorites fantastic atmosphere accompanied with a great selection on the menu a must if you havent been IMHO!
Amazing night out
Ordered chicken breast, it was great, the mushroom was phenomenal
Came to the Aberdeen Tavern on Boxing Day with a large group of 10. The space was comfortable, well decorated and spacious. Service was incredible, with the server able to help with individual dietary restrictions and requests of our large group. Food was delicious! Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.
Everything is seasoned perfectly, all proteins are good to perfection. Portion sizes are just right. Cocktails are amazing perfectly made every single time and always taste exactly the same.
An AMAZING meal on New Years Eve. In addition to a the wonderful ambience, the starters, mains
Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options Parking: Limited parking on street. Some parking in lot on weekends Food : 5/5 |
Delicious brunch with amazing service. My waitress was Esther (I believe) and she was the best! Very courteous and didn t rush us.
First off, this place is beautiful inside. Second, the services was A-1! Lastly the food and drinks were amazing!
Food and service was absolutely excellent! Our waiter was amazing! I would highly recommend for a lovely night out.
Brunch was great, they used to do 2 courses prix fixe, but you can now order a la carte if you wish. Cute little restaurant, with good service.
Classy place in a beautiful building with tons of character and great cocktails. The food is creative and features quality ingredients. The same owner and similar inspiration to the menu of The French. Its on the pricier side but its worth it for a night out, date night, or a casual business meeting. Will be back to try the menu more thoroughly.
Went for their winter eats menu. Food was delicious the vegetable root salad was fantastic. The service fell short and unfortunately was a disappointment for the experience ... long waits between dishes, brought the wrong dish to our table, asked for a GF dessert and they said no if I didnt have an allergy, just got a weird vibe from our server. It will be sometime before I return again
3.5 starts. The food and the service was excellent.
Went to Aberdeen Tavern for a Sunday brunch for two. We didnt require a reservation. Ordered the Cheesecake-Stuffed French Toast and a Mimosa. Restaurant was clean. Service was okay.
Man oh man was this about as good as it gets in Hamilton. Amazing service, evolving menus and amazing drink selections.
My wife and I went to Aberdeen Tavern for their Valentines Day, 4 course dinner, and we left tremendously impressed, and tremendously full. All of the courses were genuinely fantastic. For how busy they were, we found the service to be fast, and the staff to be friendly. Would highly recommend!
This was our first time and I highly recommend this place ! Amazing food , amazing staff and our waitress Jenna was literally the BEST! She was constantly checking in with us was very friendly and truly cared that we were well taken care of and went above and beyond! This was all new food to us and we will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends! Thank you for such an amazing evening truly was the BEST! Vegetarian options: Great selection even on Valentine s Day! Wish this gave me an option to post our meals WOW looked amazing!! Parking: Perfect parking right next door! Also street parking
I had the pleasure of visiting the Aberdeen Tavern during its Winter Eats menu period, and what in found was a phenomenal dinign experience, perhaps one lf the best in Hamilton. While you might at first expect a more casual affair due the name, the Aberdeen is far more. Top quality ambience, extraordinary dishes, and a fantastic wine and cocktail list deliver a tremendously enjoyable experience. A perfect venue for everything from dates to celebrations to work events. Not a restaurant you will want to miss!
It was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had.
What a great place to have brunch in Hamilton. Thank you Keaton for the 5 stars service, and good recommendations . Food is amazing, i recommend the calamari chimichurri and try some of the cocktails too. Cool ambiance, great vibe and music and amazing food all this done by people who love what they do. Definitely coming back for dinner too.
I love this place. The last few visits have been excellent dining experiences. Their winter and summer menus both had winners on there. The risottos they offer here are special. I have had their steak and it s pretty good too. Brunch is pricey but a crowd pleaser. Service is second to none. Aberdeen Tavern is the best restaurant in Hamilton.
Really enjoyed our brunch here! Crispy potatoes, delicious hollandaise and nicely cooked eggs. We spent about $90 (2 meals 2 drinks) which value wise is fine for us, but a bit on the pricy side for a regular brunch visit. We ll be back though service was wonderful, fast and attentive.
Fun experience, limited menu, very limited parking.
Excellent food, very talented kitchen staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Had the most incredible meal at steak Sunday tonight. Staff went above and beyond and the attention to detail wasn t missed. Truly can t go wrong at the Aberdeen! Highly recommend. Thanks for the excellent service!
I must say it was one of the best meals we have ever had! Fantastic!!
Had a birthday dinner this past Saturday. There were 8 of us. Service was awesome, and everything was delivered in a timely manor. Food was off the chain (That pork belly appetizer should be its own food group) The biggest win, however, was the dealing with our two dietary restrictions. Both guests didnt have to settle with dishes that were only so-so the chef and team ensured flavourful plates were delivered. Thanx again!!!
From the moment I walked through the door, I knew it was going to be an amazing experience. The decor was top notch , the tables were spaced out so you were comfortable in every way. The food was perfect and cooked to our liking. We will definitely make this our restaurant when we travel to Hamilton again. BRAVO
Maddy was our brunch server. 10/10 service.
Great atmosphere right as you walk in. Big bright windows make a sunny morning welcoming here. The service was friendly and attentive but not in your face about it. The recommendations were on point, and the food was delicious. Both of us enjoyed our food. The cheesecake stuffed French toast was divine and definitely filling. The smoked salmon bagel was fresh and tasty, and they did not skimp on the salmon. The chicken waffles had a nice flavor with the honey Sriracha sauce on top. The waffles were crispy and delicious as well. Try their mocktails theyre nice for a non alcoholic choice. Do expect to spend a pretty penny as it is pricey, but it is worth it. I highly recommend this brunch.
Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Great service. Wonderful food. Able to easily book a table for a large party.
Great restaurant, not my first visit here and Im always happy with not only the quality of the food but the service as well.
Loved the cocktail options this season, and the mains were beautifully plated and satisfying. Special mention for their attentiveness to my wife and my allergies, which the best restaurants still take seriously. It s why we return.
We had an amazing dinner and experience last night. We received a gift card as a Christmas gift so we decided to finally use it. We had never been prior to this. The service, from friendly greeting to final good byes- was truly outstanding. As someone who works in their service industry, I am keenly aware of what goes on in the background to deliver greatness and they did not disappoint. The best part? The meal itself! Marco is an amazing chef who clearly has a passion for his work. He doesn t cook, he creates!! We plan to be back soon for Steak Sunday!!! Thank you!!
Had an awesome brunch at the Aberdeen today. The staff were lovely and courteous, the eggs benny with avocado was delicious, and I just wanted to commend the whole team! See you again.
Amazing food and service. A favourite spot for a great night out.
Very disappointing birthday lunch. My sons knew I was looking forward to eating here, as the reviews sounded wonderful? We had reservations at 12:30 for three. We were seated promptly by a lovely, petite, dark haired girl. Our waiter was Max . He forgot the straws and lemons to our water straight off the back and cut me off several times in conversation. Rude? I ordered a double gin and tonic, my sons had the Earl grey iced tea and still water. I ordered the crab cake, my sons had the parfait with coconut yoghurt and smoked salmon bagel. The bagel looked/tasted the best..Fortino s makes waay better parfaits and the crab cake was meh .. (canned/bagged crabmeat??) I make better at home. The gentlemen seated after us were served their main courses first? I ordered another drink (single) after our first course and had two glasses of water.. We received our second course 40mins later. (Yes.. we were quite hungry at this point) The first course was quite small? The second course reminded me of my grandmother s lunch served daily at her retirement villa? I had the eggs Benedict (eggs hard) and my sons, the cheesecake French toast and breakfast sandwich.. my English muffin was clearly burnt.. my sons French toast was burnt.. my sons toast on his breakfast sandwich.. yup, burnt clearly noticeable and yet we were still served this food??? We really did not want to wait another 40mins for simple overpriced food! EVERYONE ELSE had great looking food!?! Max seemed snooty so I spoke with the manager.. she compted our food and I paid for our drinks.. My kids and I noticed the ignorant exchange of looks between our server Max and the manager? Don t judge people who drink alcohol with their meals between the manager and our waiter Max, plus the burnt food.. we definitely won t BURDEN YOU in coming back..
Great food, lovely staff
Went for a friends wedding party, Braised beef awesome! Dessert awesome! Had some fries ,well let me tell you they are the best fries in Hamilton! Nothing like a good fry!
Steak was immaculate, great service.
We had a very enjoyable dinner Friday night on the patio. Portions and food quality were great. Don t let the outside fool you. It s worth the trip inside.
Zero stars! Wow, poor policy for cancellation. If you dont cancel 24hrs in advance they wanted a $25 pp penalty charge! We ended up going to the Mothers Day brunch and it was noisy AF, food was sub-par and service short staffed. Will never give my service to them again.
Stunning presentation of the meal...and tasted as good as it looked. This place wont disappoint !
Id recommend coming here just to experience the largely lost art of impeccable service. They have a great attention to detail and no little part of dining etiquette is missed. The atmosphere is very quiet. The selection of dishes and the execution was very good while pricing quite reasonable.
Husband and I went for dinner I had the Salmon which was delicious but my potato s were hard.. husband had the Snapper, there was way too much dill on the fish..waitress was not friendly. Atmosphere was amazing too bad the food was so so.. and was not cheap our bill was over $200.
We had a nice birthday dinner here end of May. Was nice atmosphere, music a bit loud for discussion but other than that, lovely. Service is excellent!! I had an amazing Caesar salad starter. My striploin was like shoe leather and not much taste BUT 2 others had steak (filet + striploin) and liked theirs. I ordered it medium well and in hind sight, perhaps medium is the way to go. So Ill give Aberdeen Tavern another try, I AM picky. The cheesecake is to die for. I had only a bite and will definitely get the whole dessert next time
Excellent service and atmosphere. Our servers (Maddy and Esther) were wonderful. We had a larger group for brunch plus a 2yr old, and the entire staff was patient, kind and attentive. The menu is small(er) but portions are bigger and easily shareable -itll be hard to just pick one thing, youll want to share!
Aberdeen Tavern is one of the premier restaurants in Hamilton. All plus five star ratings with this beautiful establishment. I was here this particular day for brunch and again, knocked it out of the park.
A quaint place with delicious food and a calming ambience. Great for brunch with friends and loved ones. Dietary restrictions: Accommodate dietary restrictions. Kid-friendliness: High Chairs available.
Nice, higher end tavern great for dinner, drinks or even small events. High quality cocktails, good wine selection and great food made for an overall great visit for our group.
I went to Aberdeen Tavern for brunch on a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint! We sat on the terrace on a nice day and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was good, executed breakfast staples well. Parking was a bit of a nightmare.
Great patio!
Great meal here on Tuesday with Family. Really appreciated the friendly staff, from the second you walked in, until the second you left. Very reasonably priced. Great ambience. We were able to actually hear each other easily and felt no pressure in terms of time. Would go back in a second. Parking: Parking lot a couple of doors down offers restaurant parking, outside of the work day.
With a group. Everyone loved their breakfast! Lattes just ok. Vegetarian options: Eggs etc Parking: Good on weekend. Lot available and street parking
Outstanding atmosphere and food. We can not say enough about wait staff. We have gone here for a few years for our anniversary. Simple walk down the street. Today was even better as we seen a waitress assist an elderly woman into her chair. This moved me so much that I tipped a little extra knowing that the waitress would benefit.
Party of 4, on a Saturday evening. We ate on the patio which is set beside the main building, back from the sidewalk. Very nice atmosphere for dinner, little street noise. Our server was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed appetizers, mains and dessert. The Key Lime tart was excellent. The interior of the tavern is quite elegant, and we d definitely recommend, except for the Chocolate crème Brûlée which was more of a chocolate pudding and overly sweet.
Cozy place with great music ,service and good food .
Amazing service, food and atmosphere we were shocked at how much food was provided to us for steak Sundays! Absolutely adored this place and will be back again! The people working here were so kind and helpful!
You should update any closures on google maps and the website, not just instagram because not all your customers follow that. I went when it was labelled open and was quite disappointed to see it closed. I left a comment politely letting you know this on Instagram and the comment was deleted. Terrible rapport.
Came here with family for brunch. I Was not sure what to expect in Hamilton but this place fantastic!! Comfortable patio, great service, ambient music, birds chirping and the food is another level. I can t find the words to describe the food so I ll just post the Pictures.
One of the best spots in Hamilton. The brunch is fantastic.
I recently came for brunch with a party of six, and everyone enjoyed their meals. As for me, I couldnt resist trying the tostada rancheros and the cheesecake French toast, and Ive been daydreaming about those dishes ever since. They were absolutely delish! The overall experience was fantastic, thanks to the excellent service, inviting ambiance, and, of course, the mouthwatering food. I wholeheartedly recommend Aberdeen Tavern for anyone seeking a brunch spot that hits all the right notes.
Mid food. Slow and inattentive service. Nice atmosphere.
Amazing service by Jenna. Great brunch.
The food was just as wonderful as the staff. - Highly recommended - definitely returning Food : 5/5
90 dollars for two to brunch, no alcohol. Food was aggressively mediocre. Burger was extremely dry and over cooked. Avocado toast was gross. I m a foodie but sometimes you can just really overwork a simple thing and ruin it and this is a prime example. Chicken in chicken and waffles was tough. Very disappointing would not recommend.
Had a surprise birthday dinner .I was the guest of honour. Great food ,good service , atmosphere was quiet .which was good . All items on the menu were enjoyed as the group had a variety of tastes . Overall a good experience . First time for dinner ,had been for breakfast before Would certainly go back .
Amazing wedding venue and great food
My wife and I had brunch on the way to pick up our son from McMaster. Lovely, super friendly staff, great ambiance- both inside and in the courtyard patio, nice eggs Benny and spicy Ceasar - what else can one ask for on a late Saturday morning?
Great place for a special occasion. I was surprised they were open on a Sunday but it was pretty busy. Sundays are Steakhouse Sundays and I had a beautifully prepared 10 ounce steak. My wife had the salmon. Prices very reasonable and service was great. Ambience was perfect - a bit of background noise but not loud.
What a fantastic experience we had last night Walked into the restaurant and was greeted by one of the most attentive and welcoming person. Victor made the night for us and the chefs were pumping out some delicious meals and great cocktails to match This is a must try for everyone
Nice brunch place !
Came here for brunch because Irene (manager) recommended we try it after meeting her at the French. Let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The food was immaculate and the service just as incredible. The atmosphere was definitely classy with a hint of nostalgia, the building used to be a bank! This is a great spot to visit and will come again, just with more people. Highly recommended. The cheesecake French toast is more than enough of a reason to come back.
We ve been here a few times and it NEVER disappoints. The food, the service, the ambiance, everything. I love the seasonal menu, the patio atmosphere and how relaxed the vibe is. Also, there is one gentleman who works here, maybe a manager, long dark brown hair, who is super helpful, friendly and so knowledgeable and gives the best menu recommendations. For all these reasons, we will continue to come back.
Really nice atmosphere and food, the terrace had a great vibe, especially once rush hour traffic was over.
Fantastic evening! Food was sooooo delicious and tasty! Red snapper is a must!
We absolutely loved our experience here. For the quality of food, service, and environment, the prices were actually quite reasonable. Our waitress (Natalie) was fantastic knowledgable, friendly, sociable, and came just the right amount. Silverware was switched between our app and main courses, the bill came quickly, and our drink glasses were never empty. Would definitely recommend this place and we will totally be back.
Worst place in Hamilton. Do not drink your alcohol beverage to fast as they time you if you drink it too fast and will cut off! Worst place to host an event. Would not recommend this place. Manager and servers had terrible customer service, worst I have ever experienced.
Disappointing. Food was basic at best. Calamari was good. Cocktails were very good.
We had our legal wedding ceremony in The Apartment private dining space on the upper floor of the restaurant and it was magical! A beautiful space with a large dining and bar area. The team was super helpful in the planning process and in making sure everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious as well, our guests were raving about it! Definitely recommend this spot if youre looking for a private event space in Hamilton.
Spending over $100 for brunch for 2. Very disappointed. Server forgot to put in our food order.. People that has reservations 1 hour after us got their food before us. Normally if something likes this happens at well established expensive restaurants they would compensate a appetizer or a drink. Not here, not today. Just a very half hearted apology. Lots of great places for brunch in Hamilton and Burlington not sure if I will be back to Aberdeen.
Wonderful brunch at the Aberdeen tavern. . We loved the cocktails and the quality of the food. Everything was delicious and we had a great time. I really like the attention to details. Best brunch in Hamilton area by far . Thank you Jeena for the 5 star service and taking good care of us, you made our Sunday special .
Classy brunch spot in the heart of Hamilton. Great service and food. The decor was a touch dated but still managed to feel cohesive. Would definitely recommend if you re in town for the weekend.
One of the best service s I ve ever received. Came here for my friends birthday on Nov 3rd and both gentleman serving us were so lovely and very attentive, Food was great too!
Always loved the Aberdeen Tavern. Sadly the food is not as great as it used to be. I Had the Cacio e pepe? It was very badly prepared. I hope this is a one time bad batch and the dishes will improve. The rest of my table were mmmh on their choices as well. We will return and try again.
We had a fantastic dinner. The food presentation was picturesque and it was delicious. The wine selection by the glass was varied and made for great pairings for different meals. The staff was friendly and very attentive.
We have been here a few times for brunch and every time it has been pretty much perfect. Great service, a warm and comfortable ambiance, and incredible food. This time we had mimosas and shared a scone to start. The scone was apple spice with a caramel glaze. It was served warm with a strawberry compote and cream cheese icing. Delicious! For brunch you can opt for the 2-course menu, which we always go for. I had the calamari and Cobb salad. Probably the best calamari I ve ever had. Light batter, super tender calamari, aioli, and a very zingy chimichuri sauce. The Cobb salad had a perfectly seasoned chicken supreme sliced on top with crispy skin. Tasty cherry tomatoes, crispy bacon, avocado, and blue cheese. We left stuffed and very happy! We will go here every time we are in the Hamilton area.
My husband and I visited Aberdeen Tavern last night to celebrate our 2 years of being married and it was marvelous! I would have to say its been my favourite restaurant Ive visited in Hamilton so far. They offered us bubbly to celebrate, and I had a delicious cocktail and my husband had their seasonal/rotating beer (a porter). Everything we ate was made to perfection: calamari, shrimp cocktails, squash risotto, braised beef, and my favourite - the chocolate creme brulee. Lovely atmosphere, and superb service (shoutout to Corrine(sp?) and Dan) and we will definitely be coming back!
Fantastic dining and a great place for a special dinner. We loved the ploughmans plate and our mains were perfect. We ll be back again
After two years of staying home, we decided to venture out to the Aberdeen Tavern and our review remains the same. If we could give it more stars we would! We always enjoy any meal we have at this restaurant. They quality is always consistent. The wait staff is always attentive and professional. You will not be disappointed!
This place had a lovely feel to it. The service was great and the food didnt take too long. We had brunch, and the smoked salmon appetizer was the highlight of the meal by far. The omelette - seriously, there is such a small menu, clearly the omelette isnt great, so why on earth dont they change it??! Its the only keto/no-carb item on the menu so Id imagine tons of people order it. Its identical to an airline breakfast (but bigger) or one of those omelettes they make you at an all-inclusive resort. The huevos rancheros dish was average - somehow it actually didnt have as much flavour as it looked. The house salad was pretty blah too. This place is really great for the ambience, food could be better.
I had dinner tonight with my wife and Friends, when we arrived, the hostess - in a very rude way, told us that we had two hours to complete our dinner. The food was good overall and the waitress was courteous, however the preparation of the food took time, long story short we were rushed at the end to leave the restaurant, the hostess extremely stressed and in a rude way reminded us that we have to leave. we didn t even had a chance to order dessert or coffee, it was upsetting. I suggest the owner to review the business model, perhaps it should change from being a nice place to have dinner to a more fast food oriented place where people pay and leave. In the meanwhile, look for another options nearby to have dinner and enjoy the evenings with friends, will not come back anytime soon. By the way, the chicken was overcooked, perhaps all this rush impacts the quality of the food as well and for sure the hostess mood.
Went to a Christmas party with hors doeuvres, nice atmosphere, would be good to have the upstairs bar tapped, to quicken the beer service
Came here for Saturday brunch with friends; Service was amazing, our server made great suggestions and was really sweet, she checked in on us numerous times and filled our waters. The food was incredible. I got the salmon bagel as my app, and the pulled pork and cornbread waffles for my main. I also loved the decor of the place, it s a beautiful building and decorated for Christmas. Stunning!!
Great place for a nice dinner with friends or for business.
Long established tavern but more bistro vibe, walking distance to lock st
It was our first visit, & unlikely to be our last! Its much more like an elegant, yet relaxed & welcoming restaurant than how wed typically imagine a mere tavern. We very much enjoyed both the alcoholic & non-alcoholic cocktail options. Our roasted salmon entree was delicious, as was our post dinner latte. The service was friendly, accommodating, yet professional. We look forward to introducing friends to this gem!
