590 Concession St, Hamilton, ON L8V 2W5, Canada
Building on the success of its sister sit-down spot on Barton Street and popular OG food truck, The Dirty South Restaurant is a full-service BBQ joint and whiskey bar bringing all things fried, pulled, smoked, and slow-cooked to Concession Street.
Came here with friends from Edmonton, Winnipeg, Peterborough for my birthday wknd. A great little place, with good food.
Second time being at the dirty and I have not been disappointed! Food is phenomenal, great barbecue but especially the chicken dishes, and the service was very tentative and quick. Overall fantastic time!
A group of six of us went for a Friday work lunch. We were able to sit down immediately and look over the menu. We ordered (4 chicken sandwiches, 2 brisket hoagies) thinking we’d eat and be back to work in no time. Then we waited. For most of our visit we were the only patrons in the restaurant. After a considerable wait, without explanation or apology, we were served our meals which were very good. It’s good food but they’re going to need to figure out the delay in the kitchen. I didn’t use the restroom, but a colleague suggested it needed some attention.
I have ordered from this place countless times over the past year and they’ve always been good. My usual order is the fried chicken poutine which is generally fried in a fryer with batter. The past two orders I have gotten has been pan fried chicken or they used the bare minimum amount of batter to fry. I feel The quality of the food has seemingly gone down since it’s opening. The box it came in was also not the restaurant we ordered from… some research on that showed they closed their location in July with the new Name on the box was taproom. If this came from them I Will not be ordering again from either locations
Had a great experience here! Cute little location with a good vibe and indoor or outdoor seating. The server was very attentive, the drink was strong, and the food was good. Price was good/normal for what you get. It was very clean and well kept. Definitely would eat here again.
After our walk on the Mountainview Park west pathway my wife and I stopped in for lunch one Saturday. She had the OG crispy chicken and I had the big cluck . Although mine cost less , it came with a side of tater tots while my wife got nothing , so I shared. Both sandwiches were juicy and delicious. Fountain drinks come with free refills . Service was fast , and the server was friendly and attentive. Nice little diner with clean washrooms and nice atmosphere . They’re only open until 2pm .
We recently had a nice lunch here. The good and service were both good. We had the pulled pork tacos and shared a side of fries. The good came hot and quick and filled the spot. We also had a couple drinks as well. The atmosphere mark was a little low as the place needed a little more ambience, southern stuff on the walls maybe. Unfortunately we were the only patrons as it was an odd time for lunch. I’m sure more customers would’ve added to the ambience.

we live in the neighbourhood so we have always enjoyed walking to The Dirty South for brunch or dinner. Tonight we ordered takeout. We regretted it. Just a very shoddy effort. One of the items we ordered was OG chicken, it was supposed to have mayo and lettuce. As far as we could see there was neither. Very cheap on the fries, especially for the money they charge. No barbecue sauce or crispy onions on my dirty burger that I could tell. Overall very disappointed. I feel like a sucker for leaving a tip.
Ate at dirty south tonight. The food was great, the service was great the people are very friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxing
5 dollars off is the greatest thing of all time
Amazing food and great service
The food was delicious, so flavourful. Three of us shared a tray. Three meats( pulled pork, chicken and brisket), four sides, wonderful homemade biscuits and coleslaw . Way more then enough for three hungry people. The staff is delightful. We will definitely return.
Second time ordering takeout. Both times I got the brisket Mac and cheese. The first time it was amazing (could have used more cheese sauce) but was amazing none the less. I ordered it again today and was extremely disappointed. The noodles were completely dry aside from the bbq sauce and the brisket wasn t cooked nearly as well. This was basically noodles bbq sauce and meat. The only thing that saved it flavour wise was the onions. Maybe it was just an off day but the Mac and cheese needs more cheese
Ordered the dirty south chicken Mac n cheese, when it arrived I opened the box to find 2.5 tiny pieces of chicken. Absolute let down from a place I have ordered from before. Won t order again.
Saturday evening we arrived for dinner around 6:30pm. Given no kids menu, 3 adults and 1 child. Waited almost an hour for the food. No visit to our table to let us know there would be a delay. Floor service did not look busy but they had a few pick ups that waited a very long time for their food. Food was warm and the fries were over cooked and hard. They forgot a food order but we decided to let it be. No apologies for the long wait. We ve been here before for lunch and had excellent service and hot food. Noticed in the evening that those sitting at the bar were well looked after compared to those dining. Disappointed but we will come back during the day for lunch.
Their food absolutely disgusting, ordered from here and I cannot believe the prices they charge for bagged meat.. their meat is not fresh, and their portions.. they think drenching their items in sauces will make a difference, do yourself and do not go here you will be disappointed. If you order a side a fry they will most likely be refried fries.
I ve order fairly regularly till now. My sandwich had tiny pieces of dried out chicken & the side sauce I order was a joke. It was $5 for half of a little plastic dip container of Queso sauce. Very disappointed. I won t be ordering again
Not good I punch dine in but they give me the take out orders. Not worth it for the 40 bucks I paid
Im sorry to tell you guys the truth. We ordered dine in and they gave us a bag for take out. Took time to serve the food and when they give us our order, its not even warm and smells like old stock. Fruit flies everywhere. Theres literally no flavour in the food, not even a pinch of salt. Sorry for the review but it will help you improve your service.
Terrible place will never return. Dirty is right Cockroaches everywhere
I came here for the first time and the food was horrible I couldnt even finish my plate Never EVER coming again.
Food was amazing, service was great, will be adding to the list of places to visit when I am in Hamilton again.
Not to be rude but the owner needs to hear this because I once loved your food ....Used to be my favorite place in town !!! the food was amazing once they opened but Ive noticed over the past year to a few months the food quality has gone down a big amount I no longer like your food since its changed or youve changed it to save a penny ... The big pig sandwich was once amazing and it was the only thing I would order plus the sweet potato fries but you got rid of them and replaced them with totts that i could buy from the frozen section in the grocery store .... Today I got a big pig and the pulled pork wasnt even pulled it was one big brick with nothing but fat I dont know how that happens but they just keep getting worse , what happened to the greasy sausy flavorful pulled pork you actually took your time to make ?? I took one bite and didnt want to eat the rest thats how bad it was !!! its nothing but gross each time I order I have even worse experiences Im sorry to say but you lost a really good customer I used to dine in/pick up and order online on the regular probably about 2-3times a week but I wont be coming back since youve changed !!
Service and food was excellent, but the restrooms need immediate attention, they are very repulsive and revolting. For this reason we will not be returning.
Great food and drinks. We had 6 of us. Tried a lot of different options. The Mac and cheese and brisket was great. The sampler appetizer was really good as well. Everyone was happy.
Cool menu but the standards are clearly lacking. Brisket sandwich was all fat and chewy. Caesar salad was literally inedible, soggy old greens drenched in dressing with cold soggy croutons. Hopefully you guys can pull this around.
Dirty South was fantastic! The food was bursting with flavor, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Everything was a perfect 10/10 I can t wait to go back!
Burger felt very over cooked, once you add in the crispy onions and crispy bacon you re left with very unsatisfying and dry meal. Fries were okay. This is the second time I ve been here and it s been very average each time. There are too many good smash burger/fried chicken options in the city now to sell this combo for $20. I know this place has been around for a while and I know people who enjoy it, but I think I m done trying this place.
I had the stinger sandwich it was fantastic! Came in for lunch with me and the wife and was quiet relaxed atmosphere great music playing to compliment the incredible food! Definitely gonna be a regular spot to eat when in Hamilton!
Amazing food, our group of 5 got different items and it was all hot and prepared fantastic.
You wont go hungry, thats for sure the chicken sandwiches are huge and a basket of fries. Great portions and the waitress Stephanie was kind
Had a craving for BBQ and came across this little gem. Be aware - on weekends, they can run out of brisket after lunch. Their share platters are a great deal and filling (we had to pack some home). Missed their brunch (ends at 2pm) but that looks like its worth a try too! $70 for 2 with drinks and dessert. Update - kids brunch starts at 6.99 for 2 pancakes (choco chip or oreo) and a juice box. All above food eaten was kid approved!
Ordered delivery, I dont know what happened to this place. My chicken sandwich was two tiny bits of chicken for $17.49, dry no coating with a teaspoon of slaw and black fries. Not burned fries, black.
Spent 20$ on the brisket mac and cheese. Came with two not even 1 millimetre thick 3 x2 shavings of brisket and what tasted like warmed up mac salad. Couldn t finish more than half the mac. Had to run to the minimart down the road to get something to wash the taste out of my mouth. Biggest waist of 20$ I ve probably ever spent. Honestly wish i could get my money back because it looked nothing like the pictures. I don t usually bother leaving negative reviews but this was a rip off.
We rented the Dirty South food truck for our 50th wedding anniversary. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Our guests were surprised and raved about the food and the service. Still getting texts about it. Thank you for making our special occasion so memorable.
We got the Dirty South food truck for our wedding and all I can do is sing these guys praises!!! I had originally reached out to around 10 different food trucks for options, and one of my main reasons for choosing them was how fast and efficiently they responded. (HUGE shoutout to Kara). The booking process was absolutely seamless and so stress free. They catered hors doeuvres for cocktail hour & then we had the food truck open for dinner they set everything up, took everything down and generally just made the wedding day so stress free, as we didn t have a planner or coordinator. These guys are serious professionals. The food truck - INSANE, the food was hot, they got food out in perfect timing, and more importantly it was delicious. We honestly can t thank you guys enough!
Hadn t been in ages, great food, it s just kinda far for me. Really enjoyed the fried chicken mac n cheese. It was perfect.
Thanks for all the yummy food served at Birla Carbon Hamilton. Working hard to feed our dirty mouths at the Dirty South.food truck.
the chicken burger was so dry i had to drink water after every bite
This is a nice place to grab a bit portions are good and the food is very good they have a small patio out front and street parking they are licensed so you can have a drink with your meal
No seasoning on the fried chicken, Nashville sauce zero flavour, just oil. Wings burnt. Mac and cheese bites way over fried. Waitress was wonderful, only reason for 2 stars.
Parking: Worth the 2 bucks Food
The food was really bad. Like, we have come once before and this time was nothing like last time.. I am actually shocked at how bad it was. We ordered a meat platter with chicken, brisket and pulled pork. Sides were corn bread, and Mac and Cheese. Being a BBQ spot, one might think hot sauce and BBQ sauce would come to the table. Our server brought us ketchup. Despite us not ordering any potato side. Corn bread was super dry. The chicken was decent, both the brisket and pork were very dried out and did not taste fresh. But the wildest part was the Mac and cheese. My wife and I managed 1 bite each. Heavily coated in oil (visibly), it had no taste. Like, not salty, sweet, Cheesy... nothing. It tasted like someone coated elbow macaroni in oil and butter. The restaurant was also buzzing with fruit flies. My wife and I could not stop swatting away flies. Unfortunately the windowsill was covered with dead ones as well.
food is great and it doesn t take long and the workers are very nice
First time visiting this place. Pretty good restaurant to relax and have a few drinks.
Andrew and Stephanie are really lovely people. I come here way too often for the pulled pork poutine. It s probably the best thing I ve ever consumed. The cook kills it every time. Highly recommend and I bring all my friends and family here.
My go to place. Everytime I go I always get the fried chicken poutine. Roof top patio is awesome too.
Had dinner during Concession St fest, great food!
The brunch is really nice. Food is always good. Service is good. And the atmosphere is southern style with some country music. Neat little spot.
Never again. Placed my order. Went to pick it up. Was handed a ripped bag. I asked if all of my order was in it. Worker replied yes. I got back to where I was going to eat and found that Im missing a whole meal, A WHOLE MEAL and drink!!!! 90 DOLLARS LATER! When I called the location, I was blatantly lied to, that she chased me down, which is wrong because it took me 5 minutes to be able to cross concession street. Then tried to say she called the number on the order. Which she didnt. Then said the number was wrong. Which it wasnt. I got a bad vibe when I walked in with this womans attitude when I asked about my order then she proceeded to not be the friendliest to other customers sitting at a table waiting for food. Used to eat from the barton st location a lot. Wanted shrimp tacos which are only available on concession street so I made the drive up. I will no longer be giving my business to either locations. TERRIBLE. Wost part is being lied too, TWICE!
Wow, incredible food and service. I go often
Highly recommend.
We go the dirty burger, pulled pork nachos and wings when we went there. Most of the food was to die for but the wings need a lot of work.
Awesome spot for southern food. Great area for eateries. Lovely people too
Terrible service when trying to order take out they hang up on you dont seem to concerned to bother or tell you anything re your order
Our family has eaten in this restaurant before, and it was really tasty and they had a decent size serving . We had take-away this time , so disappointed! Talk about shrinkflation . The platter serving size was so small , coleslaw had no taste, everything else was just meh . It was also cold , and the fries were soggy and kinda gross
Terrible. Dont waste your time or hard earned money.
One of our appetizers (jalapeño cheddar biscuits) came frozen still on the inside. The server was gracious, offered to heat them through, that took 25 minutes. I ordered the tiger shrimp tacos, the shrimp was slightly larger the salad shrimp. Not ever again!!
Must try the have a great selection of sides and the portions are great all the food was delicious
amazing food. amazing owners. staff are super friendly. i drive from toronto to hamilton just to eat here. can t recommend enough.
First time visitors. Customer service great. Ordered shareable platter with tots and Mac n cheese. Meat was cold - suspect reheated, but can t confirm, chicken was tough, Mac n cheese was hot and good. Great biscuits. DIRTY SOUTH you have a great location. DO BETTER. Trusting you are working out issues. Will give the DS a second chance.
Had breakfast and for the price, the plate was empty and was tasting blend. Had the avocado toast and the peach pancakes. Never again.
Food was decent, portion sizes were good and it was pretty affordable. However, the service was not good. There was something in my water & it took forever to get it replaced. I also felt rushed & the waitress was not friendly.
My fiancée and I came here last night and frankly, we werent all that impressed. For starters, she got an indescribable black fluff in her water and I found a small hair on my plate. To forget about those slight problems, the food wouldve had to be amazing which, unfortunately, it wasnt. Dont get me wrong, it wasnt horrible or even bad by any means, it just didnt live up to our expectations. We ordered a pound of boneless chicken breast and while the chicken tasted good, it wasnt as crispy as authentic southern fried chicken. The sauces were also misleading. The hot honey sauce was something I was particularly excited for and while it wasnt bad, it didnt taste like hot honey. It tasted more like an Asian inspired teriyaki sauce or something and the Louisiana butter sauce was basically just Buffalo sauce. Tasty but nothing to write home about. The cornbread and honey butter sounded tasty but again, I was mislead. The cornbread was not hot or fluffy. It tasted like they got it from a grocery store. While not bad, definitely not restaurant quality. The honey butter just tasted like butter and it was hard and difficult to spread. If I can say any positives, our server was nice , the prices were good and the atmosphere in there was pretty cool. In conclusion, if you find yourself in Hamilton, you can do a lot better than this place. Its not bad but painfully average in my eyes.
Got ripped off. We order from Dirty South Downtown all the time. We decided to try the location on the mountain. The portions were incredibly disappointing. The pulled pork and the beef brisket both had virtually no meat compared to downtown. Massive bun with a tiny scoop of pulled pork. Two super thin slices of brisket.
Food is fantastic! Large portions. Service was fast and staff was very friendly. Loaded poutine was delicious and devoured fast!
Good food for a good price. Ive had sandwiches, breakfast, the platter for 3 etc etc The food has been good/great every time Ive went or ordered pick up (except once) The staff is friendly. The restaurant is clean. I really like the fact theyve only got one TV.
Delicious pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich and fries. Amazing Nashville chicken burger too. Highly recommend
Great poutine, portions were gigantic for the low price charged and #disabledcommunity it is 100% accessible with automated doors everywhere! Service is quick!
Just had Saturday brunch. Amazing food , great service, reasonable prices. A great place to have a meal , food was hot and full of flavour. Definetly going to be back. Keep up the good work.
If you haven t checked out Dirty South, go check it out! We went earlier this week for my husbands birthday. We ordered one od their trays (tray 2) plus a side of fries to feed our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids), and it was definitely enough!! Only complaint was that there was only 2 staff working (kitchen staff and waitress), and it seemed to be busy. It took a while to get our food. The waitress did apologize for the wait! Great portions, delicious food. Definitely worth checking out!
I made reservations for 10 people, and everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much. The service was top notch, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food came quickly for a relatively large group and cocktails were excellent. We will definitely be back Thanks
The mac and cheese wasnt as seasoned as Im used to, being from Texas, it didnt have much of a taste. The cornbread was a bit overcooked, and both were cold. Unfortunately, I couldnt eat either, made me a bit nauseous. The service was great.
I love love love this place!! I stumbled on it a few months ago and I find myself day dreaming about The Big Pig pulled pork sandwich.
Really liked the poutine, interesting Southern twist on a Canadian classic. Everything we had and the service was excellent.
I come here atleast once every couple weeks - used to be more frequent when I lived in the area. They have a great atmosphere, and great food! My favorite menu options are the pretzel bites with the jalapeño cheddar sauce but the pulled pork tacos are a close second They were open on boxing day which a lot of places were not. Staff and diners alike were in good spirits, I definitely recommend passers by to come in and check it out.
Dirty South was a great find for supper! We were a group of 6 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My husband and I split tray 1 which was more than enough food for us. We upgraded our Mac n cheese side to the brisket version and it was incredible! The three meats were also delicious, and the jalepeno corn bread was so good too. We had Andrew as our server who was very good. He not only clearly knew the food on the menu he was a great level of person ability as well. The other servers who we interacted with were also very friendly. One of the men in our group said he would return to Hamilton just to eat here and he lives an hour and a half away.
From the pulled pork wontons for an appetizer to the chicken sandwiches and the homemade biscuits this place was unreal! Must try!
Food is great! Environment is chill. This spot is a gem in Hamilton.
Campari had drain flies which must have been in the bottle. Server never realised that when she poured the drink.
Came there with 7 people. Server was friendly, but seemed to be in charge of serving everyone by himself. Waited quite awhile for our food. The pound of brisket was super thinly sliced, almost like they got it from the metro deli this morning. The pulled pork was super dry. The Nashville hot chicken was also dry and tough. My son enjoyed his burger. The corn bread was hard enough to knock someone out and also super dry. This was our first time here and unfortunately our last. I had high hopes for a good local bbq spot.
The first time I was here it was great service & food. So I went back with friends & while waiting for them, I noticed how dirty the place was. The benches had food all over them and the cracks in the table where full of crumbs and old food. No excuse for a dirty restaurant & we didnt stay for dinner.
Dietary restrictions: They dont use peanut oil. Parking: I know a secret spot . Wheelchair accessibility: I noticed a washroom was quite large
2023 is the year Im going to try all the restaurants I have been wanting to try for ages. I was not disappointed with Dirty South on Concession. Clean, cozy atmosphere, nice music, and comfortable seating. Our server, Andrew, was great. Kept a watchful eye if we needed anything and was helpful when I had questions. The Fried Chicken with Mac n Cheese was a hearty serving of both pasta and chicken. Spicy without sacrificing flavor. Bread and butter pickles, sharp flavor, crunchy and a welcome contrast to the rest of the dish. Definately going to go back soon. Kid-friendliness: I would be comfortable bringing kids here.
Im a cook at the casino. I would never serve anything I wouldnt eat. This poutine is horrible . Ice cold curds on poutine yuck. At these prices the food should be perfect
Love it, chicken was delicious
Awesome brunch!!!
Was recommended this place by a friend last year. You have to get the build your own with the fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Seriously some amazing food. Recently placed an uber order and the chicken was missing in my order, and upon calling the restaurant they immediately offered me a credit for my next visit. This place has amazing customer service! Everyone who works there is always so nice. Love getting takeout and dining in. Thank you for being a favourite place of mine!
1st time here. Good prices. Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere. Excellent Beef Brisket Hoagie. Best dessert! Churros and Cheesecake. Served with cream cheese and dulche de leche dips.
My boyfriend and I went here for lunch. We started with orange crush, but it didn t have any taste. It was just coloured, orange and carbonated water. We had the Mac and cheese balls for our appetizer which were so delicious and we did enjoy them. For our main meal I had the more cowbell which was okay. My boyfriend had the dirty southern Sammie with corn bread and honey butter. He did not enjoy the sandwhich, the chicken was coated in hot sauce and the menu does not say that so this is just a miscommunication on our part. However the corn bread was incredibly dry. The ketchup also had a weird taste, and I did say something and the waitress brought over a new bottle but it just tasted so weird. Like bug repellant. We asked for a second plate for our appetizer and it took a while for the waitress to bring it out and then she came over and asked my boyfriend if he would like a refill on his drink. He said no and asked for a water, she acknowledged this but never brought the water. The food and service together was a solid 3 stars at best and definitely not worth the prices.
AMAZING!!! We were greeted as soon as we stepped in the door by two smiling faces. Our waitress was awesome, the food was soooo yummy Pricing was fair for the portions we got. Definately going back.
We have been here several times, and every time we get more and more impressed! The best food in the city - particularly if you love pulled pork poutine! $13.50 for the biggest and best poutine. The arugula cheese dip is also amazing! Could not recommended them more.
Cool little place, food was awesome, I didnt even realize it existed until my buddy took me. There were many items Id love to try, I will definitely be back. We were very happy with the food and service!
Used to order from here all the time and the food was great. But my last 3 orders have been extremely disappointing as they were all missing something in one way or another.... will no longer be ordering from here.... after all why pay for something you wont get
I tried this place on a recommendation and loved it so much I came back twice in the same week. Order anything involved with the fried chicken or pulled pork - we tried pulled pork nachos and the taste is just to die for. The fried chicken comes with a not-too-hot sauce and buttermilk ranch. If I had the ranch sauce as my last meal I swear Id die happy. The feel is very down south, you can tell they put a lot of care in to the vibe playing country music although the restaurant and patio are modern and new. They even chose to have down south America beer on tap - Rolling Rock and Michelob which go down nice and easy with the friend chicken. My one wish might be that there be a local craft beer on option to support local. 10/10 would recommend coming twice a week. Oh, and your receipt is good for 10% off ice cream across the street at the Parlour. Feb 2023 update... have since ordered this via uber eats and been back in person. Recent service was kind but rather absent. Appreciate waitress returning within a couple of minutes of dropping the food to check if everything is good and anything else was needed - I couldnt seem to get anyones attention. Its the worst when your food is getting cold while youre waiting on a condiment or utensil. Still recommend this place for amazing food! Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendly with Mac & cheese balls on the menu. Chicken fingers are a kid staple and thats part of many of the meal options. There were families both times I went at lunch and dinner - its a casual environment but feels a little elevated.
Gross overcooked chicken and terrible fries. First time Ive ever order fries from somewhere then had to spit them out cause they were soo over cooked and left a nasty taste in my mouth. And the chicken was sorta just awful was soo dry and over cooked I couldnt even swallow without drinking some water. Definitely wont be coming back. (Chicken sorta felt like it was over deep fried then heated back up in a microwave.)
Foods okay but boring. Unprofessional vibes. Dirty tables.
Places sounds great and looks great. Upon further inspection this place needs some work. I ordered the more cowbell burger and got 1&1/2 patties and its supposed to come with 2 full patties, and the brisket was chewy. The kids macaroni and cheese offered came spicy and my daughter was unable to eat it.
SUCH GOOD POUTINE!!!
friendliest staff ever, great prices, super cute interior, GREAT POUTINE!!!!
Everything we got was delicious! Definitely recommend the charcuterie board, servers were super friendly and was pretty quick service, we came an hour before they closed and we didn t feel rushed at all. Only complaint was that the corn bread wasn t as moist.
The server was really nice and good what she does. Thank you.
Always great! Fried chicken skewers are delicious and great value. Pulled pork nachos are awesome. Mac n also highly recommended. Sauces are great. Drinks made in restaurant also very good. Ive always had great, fast service from their friendly staff
Stopped for lunch. Id didnt disappoint.
Decided to try a new place for lunch ..and boy were we glad ...the food was amazing ...the servers were super helpful and attentive ..we will def be going back. The choose your own adventure was a hit with everyone
the staff is super friendly and the food is absolutely wonderful
I come from Burlington often to get the dirty south, their ranch is to die for and they make it themselves! Staff is always friendly and kind, I just can t get over how delicious their food is
Food, music, atmosphere amazing, what a great Whiskey Sour!!!
Ive been traveling around always trying those so loved whiskey sours of mine. Wow, do they ever deliver, full service, table cleared, asking if there is anything you need before you ask. This place is one would like to visit!!!!! Thank you to all the staff... Dietary restrictions: Ask and you shall receive Kid-friendliness: Such a family feel vibe. Wheelchair accessibility: Bathrooms are push button operated.
Cold beer, good service. Could really use a good cleaning on the floors and front of benches.
This place has amazing potential but with visiting twice now I think I ll pass on ever going again. Going in the decor is amazing and the place and staff are super welcoming but the food definitely needs some improvement especially with the price you spend. The portions are much smaller then anticipated and the chicken is very dry and over cooked. It s unfortunate cause the flavours are really good but it s hard to enjoy when your chewing overcooked and dry chicken. If this was improved it would be much better.
Hard review to write as I was so excited to try this place after seeing so many amazing reviews and mouth-watering pictures of the food. Unfortunately, my meal was less than favourable. I ordered the Dirty Southern Love sandwich, supposedly a chicken and waffles sandwich. The fried chicken had no crunch left as it was soaked in a bland Franks red hot type sauce. The waffles were not authentic as they appeared to be an Eggo type waffle you would stick in the toaster (one side had a waffle pattern, the other side looked like a pancake - the texutre and flavour was that of an Eggo). Sad to say, we wont be back. It was very unfortunate because the service was great, drinks were good, but this place does not serve authentic southern style food.
One of the best restaurants in the area with amazing customer service and a beautiful location to enjoy your meal in, I was delighted to see their prices on food weren t too unreasonable or high. Managed to have lunch and get a couple of drinks for only around $40-$50 Will definitely be returning
Good food, good service, and great location. Would go back again.
I ordered the $15.00 Dirty Southern Sammie lunch special... It comes with fries and a drink. Food was delicious! I would definitely return or recommend visiting!
Overall good restaurant and I would recommend this place as a decent spot for a chicken sandwich. Gets busy for dinner on the weekends so I do recommend reservations.
Great food.. good service.. I would definitely go again..
Last 2 x, very disappointed. Last time, pulled pork nachos: too much pork, too little nachos, making all the nachos soggy This time: rack of ribs, regular nachos. Nachos good. Ribs, white, bland, no char, with ketchup/bbq sauce slathered on afterward . Yuk. No more chances Dirty South
So good...
Had their chicken burger and it was DRY and wasnt very flavorful. Service was average.
This place is good... but... Friday night 7 pm.. ordered 2 fried chicken poutines for pickup along with a southern stinger and pork wontons. Got home 5 mins away, opened the poutines and the cheese wasnt melted at all. Fries were pure mush like they were sitting in the tray and dumped back in the fryer for reheat. I was super disappointed. Put both poutines back in the oven to at least melt the cheese. Fries were already too far gone.. pure mush. Disappointed.. order was 63 friggin dollars. Maybe just dont order delivery or pickup when theyre busy..? I dunno..
Nice people, lacking flavour or bbq sauce or something
Needs sauce...Im a dipper.
Loved the food sever was amazing price was good
Oh my gaaat, the disappointment was real with this one. Ordered the Cajun Shrimp Tacos, the shrimp was to burnt. Paid 15 dollars for two shrimps :( I also ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken, it was like a 5/10. Gave me like 3 pickles in total, chicken was wonderful, but the Mac and cheese lacked flavor. Oh and their BBQ sauce, tasted more like ketchup than BBQ sauce and their Slaw tasted like vinaigrette with water, didn t really eat that, tasted like I was eating raw cabbage with no dressing. I ll try it out again and hopefully have a better experience. Expensive food that didn t live up to the hype. Ya ll reviewers lied to me. Smh.
Went there for the first time today n ya never again I get my food n there is hair in it then my husbands plate had hair all over it service was good but I wont eat there again
I ve ordered from dirty south many times and have loved every purchase by them. Unfortunately, everyone in my family who ate it last night ended up getting really sick. It was super disappointing.
Weve ordered delivery from this restaurant before and always enjoyed the food but this was our first time dining in and the food was even better getting it fresh and hot. I mean amazingly good BBQ! We got the 4 meat platter with two sides and had a whole second meal to take home! Absolutely cant wait to return!
Never disappoint. Food and service are always amazing!
We had the Caesar salad a pulled pork sandwich and the pulled pork fries. The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was phenomenal. I will be going back
Great food - The Big Pig - is a huge sandwich!
The food is great. I had the pulled pork and a poutine and both were very good. Lots of curds in the poutine and the pulled pork had good flavour and wasnt dry like you can get sometimes. Im taking back a star because of the lack of a local beer. There were only two beers on tap (both American) but even the cans werent local. (Toronto, Blyth, and more American). There are a lot of really good beers coming out of the city. Lets see them on the menus!
Good food
Always a Great meal! The staff is very friendly!
Shoutout to Kelly our server for exceptional customer service! Food was hot & delicious. Great atmosphere
Great food, and always have fresh water out for the dogs.
The best fried chicken you will ever have!
Great food and great people. Too many damp good options!
Good eats and good vibes.
I loved this place! I felt like I was in Raleigh NC. So great. We were visiting from out of town, seeing a show at the theatre down the street. Our time was tight and we were wanting a beer and a quick appetizer. Great food. Great service. We got to the show on time! Food was SO reminiscent of Raleigh. The shrimp tacos tasted just like the ones we had there, maybe a little better. The pulled pork was outstanding, especially with the crispy fried onions on top Loved the Canadian poutine twist. Huge serving. We had to take half to go. So great. Only thing I would change were the two young women sitting on the patio who were loudy dropping the F-bomb and speaking excessively loud to be sure all could hear what they were saying. Not the fault of the restaurant at all, rather a reminder to anyone reading this to be curtiius to those around you!
Its time to stop with these so called BBQ restaurants. Ive had two successive experiences with these jokers that I can only describe as dispiriting. Admittedly, my first time ordering was serviceable. I had the Big Pig with a side of mac n cheese. The pulled pork was neither the best or worst Id eaten. It was obvious that the mac n cheese had never seen the inside of a smoker (shame), but the bechamel was decent. My next order was brisket that couldve been used to fix holes in drywall, and mac n cheese that looked and tasted like the chef said screw it and threw in a packet of KD powdered cheese. The most recent abomination were ribs with a house made Jim Beam bbq sauce. Sounds good right? WRONG! Either Jim Beam has a ketchup line Ive never heard of, or Ive been lied to. These tasted as if theyd been in a pot, boiling since the place opened for the day. The final nail in the coffin for this abysmal enterprise was the tiny, overpriced, stale key lime tart that arrived minus the promised fresh whipped cream. If you want BBQ in the Hamilton area, go to BBQ Bandits on Parkdale. The owner is a good dude that actually uses a smoker for BBQ. Imagine that?
Got some sort of chicken sandwich and was super disappointed, the chicken was extremely dry but the service was really great.
The place is nice, clean and polite but the food is below mid , the chicken and waffles meal was dry and tough chicken. Great service but don t recommend the chicken if your looking for fresh flavourful food.
5 stars for the pulled pork sandwich, it was amazing. Caesar salad was also good, but the chicken sandwich was terrible... very dry and tough. One of the worst we ever had and bordered on inedible. Im still giving 4 stars since I would definitely go back for the pulled pork sandwich.
Went for dinner on a whim. I had the chicken & waffles which were fantastic. My wife had the tacos and Mac and Cheese and she was quite happy. The service was great. We both highly recommend
Shared the platter with 3 meats and 2 sides with a friend! The chicken was tasty but tough and chewy, pulled pork was burnt and dry and the Mac and cheese and coleslaw were tasteless and lacking salt! The brisket was pretty good, and the jalapeño biscuits were home made. The sweet potato tots were the best things on the tray by far! Nice atmosphere and love the country music, but dont think I would come back!
Food & service were good however there isnt a change table in the restaurant. Parents must change their babys dirty diaper on the bench, table or floor (yuck). Unacceptable for a place open during the day for food.
We hired The Dirty South food truck for a post wedding party celebration at our home and they did not disappoint. Not only was everyone blown away by the truck in our driveway, but even more impressive was the food. SOOOOO good!!! Thanks to The Dirty South food truck team for making our party such a huge success.
Came here for the first time and was left absolutely speechless. The food, the service was amazing! Stephanie was so wonderful and had the best customer service we ve experienced at a restaurant. We will definitely be coming back!
The pulled pork sandwich was outstanding!
We tried one of the tray options (3 meat and w sides) comes with biscuits and slaw as well. Very large portions for the price. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal
Had dinner here this evening & it was amazing! The chicken was delicious, caesar salad was amazing, and my mom had the chicken fried poutine that she loved! Cocktails are fun, tasty and not overpowering with the alcohol. We will be back! Kid-friendliness: Brought my 14 month old and he s a noisy little bug, we were the only ones in the place but the staff all smiled and talked away to him.
Thank you for catering our wedding! Everyone was very happy with their meals, and having the two trucks was perfect. I thought we had a good mix of menu items... and I think a few veggie / GF people couldnt pass up one of the delicious meat items lol! Thank you again, we will be in the restaurant for years to come and always remember our unique wedding service.
Delicious brisket and a nice dining area. Much nicer than the Barton location with better parking available too.
After an underwhelming experience with The Dirty South food truck several years ago, I decided to give their brick and mortar establishment a chance, and Im thrilled to report that it was an entirely different and delightful experience. The transformation from the food truck to the restaurant seems to have worked wonders, as the establishment exuded a clean, inviting, and rustic Southern charm that immediately caught my attention. Walking into The Dirty South Restaurant, I was struck by the bright and cozy atmosphere that effortlessly combined southern warmth with a modern touch. The inviting ambiance set the tone for what turned out to be a flavorful culinary journey. Dining with a group of four, we eagerly placed our order, selecting a variety of dishes to sample the diverse offerings of the menu. The selection included Pulled Pork Wontons, Fried Chicken Skewers, Mac and Cheese Balls, Poutine, the formidable Big Pig Mac and Cheese, and a generous serving of 1 pound of Brisket. The Brisket, served with a saucy glaze and thinly sliced, showcased a promising foundation, but as a meat enthusiast, I yearned for a bolder meat flavor and a thicker cut. Personal preference might guide me to order it without the sauce next time, seeking a more authentic meaty taste and a heartier texture. While the overall experience was superb, a few minor imperfections did make themselves known. The Mac and Cheese Balls, while undoubtedly delicious, leaned slightly towards dryness, which detracted from their potential indulgence. The kitchens mastery over flavors was never in doubt, yet a touch more moisture could elevate these bites to perfection. Now, lets talk about the stars of the show. The Pulled Pork was a genuine triumph, and its place as the highlight of the meal was undeniable. The pulled pork sandwich, piled high with tender, succulent pork, was a symphony of flavors that harmonized perfectly. The revelation, however, was the Pulled Pork Wontons, marrying the delightful essence of the pulled pork within a crispy shell. Each bite was an explosion of textures and flavors that was nothing short of delightful. The Fried Chicken Skewers were an unexpected delight that left us craving more. The only complaint among us was that we hadnt ordered extra servings. The interplay between the seasoned, crispy exterior and the juicy chicken inside was a testament to the kitchens culinary prowess. In the end, The Dirty South Restaurant provided an overall memorable experience. The transformation from an unimpressive food truck to a thriving restaurant has clearly been a fruitful journey. While there were minor hiccups, such as the slightly dry Mac and Cheese Balls and the briskets thickness, the undeniable highlights were the Pulled Pork creations and the Fried Chicken Skewers. The restaurants inviting atmosphere and Southern charm make it a place worth revisiting. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to be an undeniable five-star experience.
Friendly staff
It was ok. Chicken was juicy but not alot of flavor. No mac sauce on my sandwich left it dry and bland, sauce is an important thing to remember....
If meat is your thing, the brisket and pulled pork on the Trays are great! Don t forget the sweet potato tots.
Great value here.
Food was very cold and not fresh at all. Disappointing indeed
The Dirty South truck catered our engagement party and everything was beyond what we expected. Our guests raved about the food days after the party. I will definitely be calling them for more events.
Love it. Great food and great service!
Love this restaurant! Good prices and even better taste!! Recommended dishes
Amazing brunch. The mimosas are delicious.
I enjoy this place every time! Great chicken fried buffalo poutine.
Service is gold. Food is good. Nice clean restaurant. Well be back
Found a fly in my food. Kinda turned me off of returning here.
Went for lunch with a co-worker. We had the pulled pork wontons. They were good. The pulled pork a little dry, but I would have them again. The dipping sauce they came with was very good. We used the dip for our fries. The chicken sandwiches we ordered were the Hammie and the Stinger. They were really good. The only criticism I have is that I wish chicken was crisper, and my Brioche bun was toasted a little more as it was falling apart with every bite. Overall, though, the few criticisms I have will not keep me from going there again.
Really enjoyed our lunch. We had the pulled pork nachos, beef brisket potato skins and a couple of Caesars. Everything was good with the potato skins being my absolute favourite. The Caesar packed a good punch but was maybe a tad spicy for my taste.
We will definitely visit this restaurant again. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff wonderful. The plater we ordered was a great introduction to their selection of meat and sides.
Sadly, disappointing: deep fried breaded chicken bits on skewers were not only tasteless but dark and fishy. My fault for ordering on a Sunday but grease needs to be cleaned. Fry charcuterie was either under cooked (tater tots) or over cooked (sweet potato fries) and not so enjoyable. Ordered the Royal (big mac chicken) not for the chicken smothered in mayo (OG). Had it in my list to order but only regrets. Unenjoyable but I hate wasting food and money, retried food for 2 days but still terrible with bad residual taste. Not sure what happened this day but I should know better then order on a day without key staff, presumably.
Bit chaotic. Visit was mid July so a little late posting. Did not have are reservation and with a pre planned group event that is an issue. We were lucky to have booked an early lunch and they pulled some tables together for us. Food was good. I had the Mac and cheese which was plentiful and delicious. Other had pulled pork, ribs and chicken. All were quite good.
Went for our first time last night.. food was fantastic!! Service from the rooftop waiter was great! Friendly and attentive. Will be back
The Nashville chicken sandwich was very disappointing, it was not spicy at all, bland and dry. The bun was not toasted and didnt taste fresh. The only flavorful thing was the jalapeno. Would not recommend
Food was delicious, service was friendly and attentive. Great place for a reasonably priced date night
Went for appetizers with a friend and the food was great!
They got awesome wigs ribs and lots of other stuff and good beer and different drinks its a good place to go to seeding inside outside
My wife and I was walking by this place for the first time on Saturday the 17th/22 around lunchtime. It looked clean from the outside, so we decided to have lunch there. My wife had the chicken poutine and I had the Big Pig pulled pork sandwich. When our server asked how our meal was, I told her that we will be coming back. Very nice to find a good restaurant in our neighborhood.
Got the mac & cheese and pulled pork sandwich, my friend got the breaded chicken kebabs appetizer to share and the lb of pulled pork for himself. Everything was great... No complaints about about service, food quality or portion size. Will definitely be back in person or through Doordash order, and Ill definitely recommend to others. Vegetarian options: I think the mac & cheese is vegetarian, though thats not why I ordered it. Either way, it was a good size portion with a great flavor.
Damn good food
Gotta say very disappointed by our visit to this location. This is my second visit to the brand, the first being at the Barton location, where I tried the mac n cheese with spicy chicken which absolutely floored me with how good it was. Tonight we went out with my gfs father, we ordered a brisket sandwich, the mac n cheese, the pulled pork Sandie and fries. It took about an hour to get our food (truthfully this was following ordering deliberation) They brought out the fries, brisket and mac n cheese (which immediately looked like a significantly smaller portion than Barton st) The fries were stone cold. As was my mac n cheese. Furthermore the chicken was dry, (Barton was very saucy and spicy, this was neither) When the server brought out the pulled pork we informed her of the cold food and she quickly apologized and said they would remake it. 4 minutes later the manager (I assume, he was sort of the host) brought it back out and said it was comped, but I could immediately tell the fries were refried (incredibly greasy, dark, and unappealing) and my chicken was white (refried also) and the macaroni I dont know, maybe that was fresh Im not sure. Either way it still nowheres near as good as their Barton quality which is surprising as this location is more of a dine in restaurant. The two cold dishes were ultimately comped which was nice, but I wouldnt have paid for them if they werent, as it just wasnt good and unfortunately we wont return to the location knowing that the other is so much better. The staff was very friendly, which is nice, but I would have preferred not to listen to loud country music personally. Overall pretty disappointed.
A different style for a refreshing change from typical restaurants! I had the chicken, waffle, smoky bacon with maple syrup.
Very nice people and the service is fast. I got the dirty southern love and it was pretty tasty but I wish the waffles were a bit bigger. Otherwise great spot.
Absolutely amazing food! We were very impressed.
The service was great! the chicken was little dry, otherwise I would give this place 5 stars
Love it here! Everything I have had has been fabulous and the service is always great. Absolutely recommend
Tasty food
Decent spot and the menu is a nice mix of things. The brisket is probably your best bet, but the chicken is tasty. A bit pricey for the portion size.
The Sandwich was delicious, the bun was fresh and held together until the last bite, the pulled pork was tasty with the right amount of zest, and the toppings were a perfect complement overall. My fries were cooked to perfection and I finished off with a coke. I would say a most satisfying lunch.
Brunch was delicious and reasonably priced . Big portions
Had brunch on their first day launching it and it was absolutely amazing!! French(ish) toast was out of this world!! Met the owner and he was a very nice man. Friendly atmosphere had here!! Well be back!!
10/10 Absolutely delicious!!! Definitely need to go to restaurant to eat next time so the food is fresher. But still delicious. Very very very good! Can t wait to go back.
Fantastic service! First day opened since the lockdown and everyone was super happy. Since today was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert and discounted items. The server was so super awesome! This really made my day special!!!
Always a great experience! They recently started serving brunch and the value and quality was top shelf!
My family and I came here for brunch and it was amazing. food was great, huge portions and reasonable prices
Brisket was very tasty
The poutine and nachos here are amazing. A bit pricey for the portion size but the food and service is great
Happy doesnt cover it!! Ive loved Dirty South since it was the original buffet in Gardena, and happily drive from the valley to their location in South Gate to grab some food from here! Not only is it the perfect spot to stop in and grab a plate (or 2) but they dont play when it comes to catering!! Katarra is the sweetest!! Not only was she kind, professional and on point-she was able to help me with a special request and adjust the serving sizes to accommodate my party!
First time here. Loved it. Delicious
After a long few hours in the hospital I needed something to eat. We walked in at 8:36 and they closed at 9 and Stephanie made us feel absolutely welcome!!! The food was incredible as were the drinks and the service was phenomenal, we didnt feel rushed or uncomfortable at all!!! Would highly recommend to everyone go and see Stephanie for the best service you will ever have!
We have been here for dinner but today we came for Brunch. Delicious!
