Went there yesterday dec 14 2024 service was very rushed. Food was not appetizing child burger was burnt and dry no topings was, not edible grilled cheese was dry even the cheese. Had hardened on crust by the time we finished they offered a pop refill, but not a water refill. And rushed us said another pop. And never waited for our answer. Could not even wait to take our order as they did not give us time to look at the menu. Then complained to another customer. We have lots of people here. We need you to move on with your order and yelled at her cause. She coughed once and said to her, if youre sick, you need to leave and the Atmosphere was very cold, hands were freezing.Kids were freezing overall, ive never had bad service there, but it was bad

I am responding to a review left 3-4 days ago about eating at either John st diner or Jet . They ARE owned by the same person AND. I used to frequent both establishments. When the diner on John and King William became waitress-served , we went to the Jet cafe for our breakfasts until I got a piece of green ham. Don t know if I said anything?, but. Have NOT EATEN at Either Place since. Toby s has been the Most Amazing Restaurant I have wanted to spend money at EVER! Today was my first time here, and I had a great experience. I decided to try the fish and chips dish, and my husband had the chicken sandwich everything was delicious and perfectly cooked, it was a wonderful experience, the waitress was nice and their service was really fast. Im really looking forward to coming back in the future. I highly recommend giving it a try!

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMING TO THIS PLACE! Had brunch here today and felt like I had to leave a review, as the past couple of times Ive come here have had pretty abhorrent service. The waiter today was disinterested, if not a bit outwardly hostile. Made fun of a table beside me for thinking they left their wallet behind when the customers left too, which was very inappropriate. Last time, a different waiter was also very disconnected and not helpful, like I was intruding on his time for ordering an omelette. Neither time was busy either, so I dont understand their attitudes. Maybe its a training issue? Food is pretty okay, mid at best. Prices are decent for what you get... but honestly I would just take your money and spend at John Street diner on the corner of King William/John or the Jet Diner down on King. Both are close by and offer similar food quality/price and a much better brunch diner experience. Im saying this too as a brunch connoisseur.

I have been coming to Tobys for many years and everything is always phenomenal. I have had the breakfast for brunch many times and its always fresh and tasty. I recently had the pierogies and they were delicious. Great spot for a quick beer as well. The staff is always very friendly here and Michael is always fun to talk to.

Best mac and cheese in Hamilton, quick service and amazing employees

I love the chicken parm here and always get it with the Alfredo sauce but the marinara is excellent as well. They make their own Alfredo sauce and marinara and the noodles are always El dentie. It also comes with their garlic bread and the chicken is always fresh and loaded with cheese. The cornbeef was excellent and loaded with meat as well. I love Tobys homemade coleslaw and the chunky fries! Tobys always has excellent food and Ive been coming here for almost three years now

Listen up lovely People I ve frequented Toby s years ago, before Covid. But the new people who took over this Diner since have truly transformed it into something wonderful and special. It s like having an authentic home cooked meal among Servers and their in-house Chefs, who actually care about their customers experience. They always greet you with a great attitude and smile, no matter how swamped they are. Their portions are bigger and better than any other venue in town. I had a wonderful experience here... it is a hidden gem in Hamilton. The chefs know how to make excellent food. The pasta is never mushy, it is always cooked properly (ie. al dente). The chicken is never dry, it was cooked to perfection. The price you pay is a steal for the portions and quality you receive. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting as guests are always welcome to seat yourself anywhere you prefer.

This restaurant has gone downhill. It s been a while since I ve been there and was very disappointed. My niece asked the sever what was in the salad special and the servers response was I d have to go look to see it s nothing I like, I d have to go look. She should ve said I ll go check for you. She didn t even offer. Just said I d have to go look like it was an inconvenience. She also could see we were still looking at the menus (twice) and asked us what we wanted. I ordered the Big Greek Omelette. It is far from big. One of the smallest omelettes I ve ever gotten in a restaurant. My home fries were black and most of them were hard little pieces I couldn t even eat. The gravy my niece paid extra for didn t even taste like gravy. And since when do jalepenos and sauted onions cost more than gravy ??? Not once did the waitress ask us how our meal was or I would ve told her everything I just said here. My niece wasn t even asked if she wanted a refill on her pop until she was pretty much finished her meal. Please don t tell me I should ve come to you (whoever you are) like you did on other reviews because it hurts your ratings and you can t fix things that way. That s exactly what reviews are all about. You read them and figure out what you can do better for the next time. Even if I did come to you while I was there I still would ve wrote a review.

We were visiting Hamilton for a small family reunion-family from England and Chatham, Ontario. Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality comfort food-reasonable prices and large servings. Best of all, our waitress was absolutely awesome-attentive and kind she really brought our time at the restaurant to the next level. Next time we are in Hamilton will be sure to visit again!

Came here with my Family. We travelled from Toronto and didnt check what time they closed. We got there when they were closing, and were going to leave because we didnt want to be a bother, but the owner was adamant about us staying to have a meal. They are absolutely lovely. Brought family from England en route to Niagara Falls. Even though we were late for our reservation, our waitress was lovely and everyone enjoyed their meals. Prices were reasonable and the portions more than sufficient.

Total rip off I ordered potato skins I got three small half potato and they were $16.99 !!! They said it s because supplier for the skins are expensive!! Not saying they didn t taste good but terrible value for the money! Even kids meals are expensive $11.99 for that Mac and cheese kids meal with no drink or anything only the main Edit reply yes you are right you offered one half skin. You also proceeded to compare to Kelsey s which was confusing because they offered more and was cheaper. But understand I didn t say they were bad tasting I said they were expensive for three halves of a potato pieces. 16.99 no matter how you look at it is outrageous. You did say it s not the most value friendly on the menu maybe it would be a good heads up for future sales. Everyone is struggling not just you so if you know it s not worth it and a rip off to customers why not change it. I can guarantee you those potatoe skins you purchase do not cost you that much to the point of charging a customer $17 for 3 pieces your chicken sandwich meal is similar in price !! So I think there is a problem no matter how you look at. I appreciated you coming and speaking to us. But to resolve a situation you don t compare to other restaurants especially when it still shows they are cheaper not sure what the point was. You were lovely staff was lovely nobody is disputing that. Prices are unrealistic for the product served.

Every server I ve had other than one guy is rude as hell. They give you dirty looks cuz they don t like the food you ordered Ate in for roughly 30-40 min and got one pop. Not a single refill Asked for prices on side sauces like salsa and sour cream and instead of telling us they just brought it over and charged us a ridiculous amount

Tobys is just ok I havent dined in there in forever, but I found it to be a little disappointing. There was a slight gross smell in the air. Jackson Square is extremely unpleasant. Service was just ok and the breakfast was questionable. Very greasy hash browns, bacon was gross and inedible. The servers are friendly and pleasant they just didnt come around often enough. It was too long of a wait for a simple breakfast. Ive had take out before for dinner and that was decent. Not sure if Ill be back.

I have been eating at Tobys since I was a kid. My Boyfriend and I eat there for dinner for our anniversary or Birthdays, or after a movie. We love their food especially the cheese sauce for there fries is the best. You cant go wrong with anything from their menu. Staff is always polite and the owners are always wonderful.

Took 1 hour to served our dinners, the strawberry milkshake was milk with strawberry sirup and top with whipped cream The Alfredo pasta was very watery like if they finish the sauce and put a little water to take the flavour! We were in town last night for a concert and decided to dine at TOBYS GOOD EATS. Well this place is GREAT, first the service (Mary) was unbelievably efficient and kind. Thank you Mary. We had Perogies as a starter AMAZING and then the 3x Mac and Cheese which in fact was the BEST I have ever had ! It was so tasty, homemade with their own cheese sauce. Beer was ice cold and the price was cheap. Dont miss stopping here and having a great meal with a great price. Thank you Mary and the gang at TOBYS next time we are in town we will be eating there again.

Have been here multiple times over the last year. Everytime the food has been fresh and delicious. The servers are very friendly and one even recommended his favourite rainbow milkshake that was awesome. The eggs Benedict is my favourite dish so far that Ive tried. Keep it up Tobys!

Tasty food, amazing staff - A definite go-to, hidden little gem. We were visiting Hamilton this past weekend, looking for a knife-and-fork type take-out. Weve had many similar meals at other establishments, so we were expecting average tasting food. Pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We ordered fish & chips, fries, The Ringer burger, and The Canadian burger. The wait time was short, although being late Saturday afternoon, there werent that many in-restaurant customers at the time. The dude that took our order and prepared our large take-out bags was genuinely friendly, accommodating, and efficient. 100% we will eat here again and I would definitely recommend.

One thing I noticed that rekindled my faith in humanity is that Tobys allows a few houseless people sit and drink coffee when its very cold outside. What an awesome place to eat! Very tasty & fresh food. Great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my husband loved the Clubhouse Sandwich. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Tobys hands down has the best home cooked meals. Super friendly staff and the food is delicious. Clean environment and you feel like youre visit family for a meal. Matt is super friendly and attentive. Cant wait to go back and try another meal. Thanks for an awesome experience. The Chicken Parmigiana is so delicious and if you any room for dessert, you have to try the almond cake...homemade and so good !!

I like the look of this restaurant since they renovated although they still dont have wifi. I didnt like the chicken Chipotle bacon wrap I got. I didnt taste any Chipotle it was more like a club wrap there was next to no sauce in it. They should put more sauce on wraps like that, seriously.

Ive had breakfast here a few times, and each time, it is amazing! Big portions and endless coffee. Today was a western omlette with jalapeños! Super yummy. Kathy is such a nice and friendly server. I will definitely be back.

Ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with chunky fries and the wrap was huge and delicious. Also ordered the sweet dreams are made of cheese with sweet potato fries and it was so cheesy and tasty, a little greasy but definitely worth it. Wait staff was friendly and fun and energetic. Well be back for sure.

My daughter and I ate there a year ago while in Hamilton for a concert. Everything was delicious, the service was great and the prices reasonable. We re from Central New York and didn t really know where to eat. We were so glad we found this place. Highly recommend.

I dont normally do reviews, but all I know is I came here with my wife and two kids for lunch and had to get up and leave because the staff were having something akin to a domestic dispute in the middle of the restaurant. It was very unprofessional and I didnt really want my kids exposed to that kind of dysfunction. (Was my boys birthday)

Traveled here from BC, about the only good thing in Hamilton is this cozy little diner. Husband and Wife work tirelessly, and are so nice. But that s not why you re reading this. So stop reading and go there now, food is comforty , well presented and the portions are well sized. Toby s does not disappoint!.
