A lot of food on the order. The meal was very good. The service was excellent.

We opted for a selection of starters as our main meal, and it did not disappoint. The Bore dumplings were packed with flavour, and the tartare was equally impressive both dishes left us wanting more but we were stuffed. Kennedy, our server, was exceptional! She s attentive, knowledgeable, and spot-on with her recommendations. The cocktails were the highlight of our lunch, beautifully crafted and full of unique flavours. A fantastic experience from start to finish! The brownie and pumpkin creme brûlée were fantastic. I ll be returning! Thank you ;)

We had burgers here. Most likely these burgers are the best burgers in Hamilton. Tried several burgers this month with November event but these ones were amazing

Overall, an enjoyable experience. Met expectations in terms of food and hype. Food was across the board very yummy, but rarely wowed (despite menu items sounding exceptional, they were just solidly enjoyable, but nothing out of the ordinary). Ive been a couple times now, and I feel like their conceptualization of food outpaces their technical skill. Overall, felt like they were hiding behind over salting, when the flavours were often strong enough to stand on their own (some were actually REALLY good). Also, tiny things - the squid I would reorder in a heartbeat, crisp on the breading was perfect, but squid slightly overcooked. Duck breasts were standardly good, but none of the nuance described in the menu shone through, and the two pieces were not evenly cooked. Dan Dan noodles were fine, but not worth the stomach space. Kale salad was excellent, no complaints. Generous portions, great cocktails, EXCELLENT service Overall a lovely night, would come back. But could have been a favourite if the kitchen stepped up just a bit more.

We loved this spot. The drinks and food are great. Our server was very nice and gave us very good service which I always appreciate. Art work around the restaurant is a bonus I highly reccomend the pork belly dan dan noodles!

Lovely spot for a date night. Servers are attentive and friendly. Menu is diverse and high-quality. Highly recommend the wild boar dumplings and the bison osso bucco. The osso bucco is large(!). We got two apps and shared it as a main. Unfortunately, they were out of most desserts the night we were there, but the sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Creative cocktails and solid wine list.

What an amazing dining experience. Hannah made us feel welcome and walked us through the menu. We took her advice and ordered the wild boar dumplings a must try. Chef Chris made one of the best risottos Ive eaten pretty close to nonnas risotto. It was our Anniversary and Hannah surprised us with a glass of processco. Very classy! I came with my friend for a drink and dessert and was very disappointed by the service. We ordered the cheesecake and a gin martini and weren t satisfied by the cheesecake - and would have the notified server earlier in the evening had she actually checked in on us. She only checked in when we made it painfully obvious that we weren t eating the rest of it. Although we appreciate it being taken off our bill, an attentive server would have noticed the dissatisfaction far sooner. And we were further disappointed when the rest of the staff were overheard speaking about us and shooting us judgemental looks for the remainder of our time there. We would have stayed longer to enjoy the atmosphere had we not felt judged and ignored.

Had an exceptional experience at Undefined today. We were there for my sister a engagement dinner, Isiah our server went above and beyond and made it a great experience. The food was just amazing as the service.

Literally anything you order from undefined will blow your mind this is my gf and I s favourite restaurant in Hamilton.

I took my brother here for a special dinner and we are both foodies. We immediately loved the outdoor dining and wine/cocktail list. Our server Kate was very informative, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, especially the wild boar dumplings and the sashimi, both exceptional. My brother is looking forward to taking his wife there now, as there are so many other mouth watering options on the menu. Highly recommend! 10/10

I went for brunch and had steak and eggs over frites. The staff handed out fresh baked biscuits and the service was remarkable. Ill definitely return as high quality independent restaurants so necessary within the city. Thank you.

One of my favorite spots in Hamilton. Never fails to amaze us! Cocktails are always well made, food is always on point. Love how unique the menu is as well. Service is also always good. Specifically Kate, she always takes great care of us. Super good at her job.

Stopped by Undefined for lunch on Friday. Had read some great reviews, and liked that they had some ingredients you dont typically see at most lunch places - wild boar, adobo pork belly, wagyu. The cocktail menu is extensive, with a top section of Undefineds take on familiar cocktails. The bottom section has a list of original cocktails labelled Things For Those Who Know Whats Up, many of them with Asian ingredients and spirits. The hostess and our server Dharma was fantastic! Friendly and informative, Dharma made the whole lunch experience fun and relaxing. If Dharma didnt have answers to our questions, as she is fairly new to the restaurant, she was patient and went back to the kitchen and bartender to get answers. Since the food came out pretty slowly, it was nice to have such a great server. Dharma needs to be promoted to dinner service, which we plan to come back for. We went with with Wild Boar Dumplings as starter, and Adobo Pork Belly Choripan and Malaysian Fried Chicken sandwiches. On the recommendation of the bartender, Isiah, I went with the Sesame Street cocktail, a boozy concoction of sesame-infused Japanese whisky, ginger liqueur (Domaine de Canton) and Kuro-sato Black Sugar. Overall, great food and great service. Preparation of the meals was kind of slow, so not sure youd want to stop here for lunch if you have a 1pm meeting. But, for a boozy Friday afternoon lunch it was fantastic. Well be back for dinner, hopefully with Dharma as our server :)

Incredible. We got the burger and adobo pork belly. Both were some of the best dishes we ve ever had. Give the secret handshake drink a chance as well - the bartender is a 10/10. Fantastic service and atmosphere make for a complete dining experience.

Pad Thai fries .. my new favourite!

We had the croque madame and short rib eggs benedict. We found the croque madame to be uninspired and unbalanced. The flavour of my short rib was dull but the meat was tender. My eggs were overcooked and not runny. There was no regular coffee option, only specialty coffees for brunch. The service was quite slow. We waited around 30 minutes for our dishes. The atmosphere was nice. Overall, we found the food and experience to be overpriced.

Went here Sunday evening for dinner... Food ,Drinks and the service we received here we will deffently be comming back ... atmosphere is so welcoming....also love the decor ...so happy we found this gem.

They called to inform us the table will be ready in 5-10 mins. However, we waited for extra 30 mins without any updates and there are plenty of empty tables. We were brought to the bar table which was empty for the whole time. Plus, we had placed the order for an hour and the food is still not ready.

Tried coming in for a drink at 10:30 and was told the patio was already closed and they would be closing in the next 30-40 mins, despite posted hours saying theyre open until 1am. Its hard to want to go here when the hours are wildly inconsistent.

Undefined is by far my favorite restaurant. Its worth the drive from Toronto to try their dishes. One of the best things is their constantly changing menu. Every time I see something new, I make sure to visit, and Im never disappointed.

Fantastic food, but service was atrocious. Empty plates were left on the table for 20 minutes, had to flag down a different waitress for the bill, for water refills, and were never cheked upon.

We had the salmon, hanger steak and gnocchi with shrimp. The shrimp was the best weve ever had anywhere. The food was amazing, atmosphere was great, service was top notch. Definitely worth the money.

Wow what a nice restaurant! I dont go to Hamilton often/not at all but immediately drove into a nice street lined with nice restaurants. Heads up about parking. Theres a big lot across from the restaurant but its 10$. Anyways lovely staff. We ate outside which was the best decision if you want dinner and a show. Saw firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, people of all kinds. We even witnessed a engagement photoshoot. The food was excellent. We had waygu dumplings and they were nice and moist inside. My friend really enjoyed them. The calamari had a nice kick to them. Good stuff. We both had duck and I ate the whole thing. Fat and all. It was so good. Well prepared and presented nicely. Definitely come try them out.

Wow First off the staff is fabulous! Very attentive and make you feel special. Right from the manager Meghan to our fabulous server Isabella F we felt special. Just had the most delicious brunch. The biscuits and orange marmalade were fabulous.So flaky and delicious melting in our mouths. The falafel benny was awesome and very tasty.The falafels were the best I ve ever had. My husband had the blueberry ricotta french toast and he really enjoyed it. The kitchen staff really know how to make delicious mouth watering meals. And the presentation ..should have taken pictures but was eager to eat. It was a symphony of flavours. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

I want to let everyone know about this incredible casual fine dining nook on King William in Hamilton Ont. My husband purchased an amazing birthday experience for me and himself that I have been bragging about for days. We had the 7 Fishes tasting menu and the mixologist cocktail menu pairing. Our server Ryan was hands down the most interactive, kind, and professional person we have EvER been served by. He made our night so truly comfortable and enjoyable. You could tell he could really get behind what dishes he was serving. Thanks Ryan! In addition the sweet and talented mixologist who statically paired our meal with each dish was beyond impressive. Her creativity was something to be admired. The Undefined team is so lucky to have them. Last but...absolutely not the lesst the brilliantly trained chefs that prepared the entire menu. THANK YOU! Your skill and detail of presentation was the nucleus of our night. I wish you all the best in the New Year. Cant wait to visit again! Xo

Love this place. Been there more than a dozen times. Recently took my family for my son s birthday. Experience was disappointing. Food was inconsistent. Appetizer (dumplings) over cooked. Mentioned to server we were there for my son s bday. Did nothing special as well never asked how our dinner was. My neighbours went there last night and had a disappointing experience as well. Over cooked appetizer and two pasta dinners tasted like cardboard they said. Dish was re-served and offered complimentary but tasted the same. When bill came dinners were not removed. Special night but very disappointing experience for them. Too bad. Really enjoyed the experience there before and referred many friends. I feel experienced cooks and servers are now at The Standard location (or gone) and Undefined s overall quality.is being affected. Unfortunate two regular families not motivated to return.

Pretty good overall. Service was prompt, most dishes were a hit, my only critique would be felt like the gnocchi (special of the night) was tough and not pillow like. Nice cocktails selection for those in a drinking mood.

A spot for modern cuisine doing some interesting takes on old classics, but lacks execution to make it a cut-above the rest. We went for brunch and I ordered a flat white and the pork belly eggs benny on cornbread. The foam on the flat white was a bit too flat and the coffee was too bitter for my taste (not to mention it was $6.50), whereas the pork belly wasnt seasoned well and the combo with the corn bread wasnt quite right. I also had some friends order the churro french toast who both could not finish them as they were much too sweet. All-in-all, if youre thinking of going to Undefined for brunch you might want to look elsewhere.

One star is for service and one for atmosphere. Honestly, I don t understand why a Benedict is named as Shrimp Benedict if there is almost no shrimp. Additionally, you can tell the Shrimp is not that fresh with its little stinky smell. I will advise the restaurant considering hiring a better chef.

Great brunch, friendly service, great summery atmosphere! Ordered 2 mimosas, Churro French Toast and Chicken & Waffles (substituted with buttermilk biscuits). We were first served biscuits with candied orange marmalade with our drinks. The biscuits were warm and so good! The same biscuits were served with the Chicken & Waffles and I was almost glad that they were out of waffles The chicken was crispy and portions were generous. Churro French Toast is GREAT for anyone with brunch sweet tooth. It s super rich and dense, could be almost too much for a single meal, but great if you can share with others. Nothing outstanding but overall a great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have brunch in Hamilton.

Undefined is, without a doubt, one of the best local places we ve eaten at. The hanger steak, polenta and asparagus were delicious, and the arctic char with fingerling potatoes and cabbage were amazing. Combined with an understated, laid back vibe and great service, our dining experience was perfect. Check this place out; you won t be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Wonderful spot

Great spot to sit on the patio and take in the sights of downtown. We had the crudo, steak tar tar and crispy squid with a shared entree of gnocchi. The cocktails were delicious and the price was comparable to any other spot on a main strip. We will be back!

I took my best friend for her birthday brunch! We started with table mimosas, which the staff was in training so they learned how to pop the cork which was great! When asking about the menu, our server did not know what was in the dishes (she was clearly new) but quickly got me the information to make a decision! My friend had mushroom toast and I had the meat hash dish! Super filling portions and the food is cooked in front of you! Absolutely delicious! When pulling our glasses away, our server did drop them on the floor, but we respected new people coming into the industry! All in all, a great spot for brunch!! Cheers

Although the brunch food was tasty, it was also very greasey and sat on my stomach. Service was very good and attentive. The decor and table tops were not my taste but may appeal to a younger crowd. I would give the place another try for dinner.

Undefined? More like underwhelming! We had heard many mixed reviews of this restaurant in Hamilton. As a couple who primarily support local restaurants (and businesses!), we were excited to finally get a reservation as we have been unlucky in the past. We even dined early for us (5:15 pm) because the online booking app had no availability for standard seating after said time. We left at 6:45 pm and restaurant was only at 20% capacity. We ordered drinks, 2 appetizers and the signature *waygu* shareable dish. As modest *foodies*, this was by far one of our worst culinary experiences. We were very skeptical about the steak even being Waygu. The *medium* should not still be mooing . Weve had various charcoal cooked steaks within the James St. N region. This was pan fried at best. All food was flavorless and lackluster. It was evident that they were trying too hard. $230 well wasted. Plus side, waitress was courteous and polite. Food was presented well. In an economy, such as ours currently, we must be cautious of where our hard earned money is spent. In our opinion, this was not the place. There are many other wonderful and highly recommended restaurants within the radius of Undefined.

We came here for the first time tonight with friends. The cocktails were good and they had an extensive list to choose from. We ordered the calamari and goat cheese dip (must try) to start and loved both. We also had the burger and pappardelle pasta which were both very flavourful and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Our dinner at undefined was delicious. I would give the food 4/5 but the service was top tier, 5/5 We were a big group, so we were able to order a variety of food! I would go back for the food but also for the amazing service. It was unmatched for the area!

Was looking for brunch places in Hamilton, found this place so decided my friends and I would try. We made reservations as I aw this place gets busy, and good thing I did, the place filled up instantly and there were tons of walk ins that werent able to get seats sadly. Food immaculate. got Bacon & Maple Biscuits, Smoked Meat Hash, and Churro French Toast, all were crazy amazing. Honestly every part of each dish was presently great and tasted even better. Lastly because it was brunch obviously we had to get mimosas, I tried all the flavours, my favourite was the Cherry Bomb. Very upscale, everything was presented great, and the service was also amazing, some of the best service Ive experienced in the past couple years. Really good job to the team here, would definitely come back to try their dinner menu.

Oh my gawd, this food was fantastic. The 48hr slow cooked short ribs were amazing, and dessert brought a dulce de leche cake that my only complaint is the portion size was just slightly uncomfortable to finish it all.

After a play at Theatre Aquarius, this was a short walk away. We were not disappointed. We had the salmon, the tortellini, the creme brule and sticky toffee pudding. Food was excellent.

Loved it here. Came with friends. Atmosphere is nice, drinks menu gets creative, food was impressive. Nothing to critique to be honest. Parking for the whole area could be better, but thats not the fault of the restaurant. Will be coming back.

Wow. Came in with the wife and tried food from their new menu. It didn t disappoint. Super impressed with the plating! Service was also on point!

The food was a delightful taste explosion ! Wild Boar dumplings, Duck Breast, Moroccan Lamb Shank and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

We stumbled upon this place when our original brunch spot was full. They graciously seated our family of 4. We ordered the Churro french toast for our kids and they so kindly divided it on 2 plates (pictured). Everything we had was so delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were engaging and attentive. We will be back!

This was our first experience at undefined, and we came for our Valentines day meal. To start the night off we were seated right next to the door in a nearly empty restaurant. When I asked if we could be moved our server said she would have to cut our reservation by 45 mins if we did. So we stayed at the door. We ordered the mussels with fries on the side the pork dumplings. The mussels were disappointing, the broth was fairly bland, although the mussels were meaty. The sourdough that came with it was burnt, I couldnt finish my piece. The fries on the side were limp for being three times baked. The dumplings were probably the best thing we ate all night, very delicious. Our mains were nothing to write home about, my partner got the burger, and I got the coconut curry salmon. My dish was overpowered by the coconut curry flavour, could not even taste the salmon. Our server was nice but did not come to check on us our during our mains. Our dessert was the Dulce de leche chess cake. When our server brought it out to us we almost sent it back because we couldnt cut into it, it was hard as a rock. We decided to just use some muscle and fought our way though the dessert, which was tasty, but I would not buy again. Over all we were excited to try undefined but we were not blown away. We enjoyed the cocktails and the dumplings, would return for those.

We went for the Valentines meal, which was $65 per person and included a 5 course meal. They offered additional drinks for $45 per person which included 4 in total that paired with the food. We had been to Undefined before and enjoyed it so we were expecting it to be a great time. The food was just okay, for the price you paid it was definitely not worth it. The starter consisted of oysters which were not shucked properly, my partner ended up getting shards of shell in his mouth! The sourdough bread (another appetizer) was burnt on the bottom. The final appetizer of arancini balls was just okay. We were the only couple in the restaurant, which we kind of expected being there at 5pm. Because of this, we thought the service would be on time, but we waited way too long for our mains to come out. We think it was most likely as they were prepping for other guests for later reservations. The waitress was friendly and we had no issues with her service. Overall, we would not come back again considering the quality of food, wait time and price.

Had a family birthday dinner. Interesting and appealing menu. We all enjoyed our entrees, I had the duck. Our starters included the whipped goat cheese - so good and Im not a big goat cheese person. The sticky toffee pudding was good, but light on date flavour that I look for in STP. Great cocktails and service!

Great spot downtown with a unique and fun menu. Cocktails were tasty and delicious as well. The dumplings were unreal, some of the best Ive ever had. Definitely a must-go when in town.

It was our first time visiting this place! Called for a short notice accommodation and they fit us in,staff were so wonderful. Sat at the bar and we had Mike the bartender help us out with picking cocktails, he was such a highlight of dinner too :) we had a great time out. Everything was delicious and the cocktails were great! Dumplings and risotto were our favourite. We can t wait to come back and introduce all of our friends and family to this place. It was our first time at Undefined and YOU have to go! It s the cutest little spot with superb food. I mean the food is top tier!! The dumplings and braised short ribs are to die for. We wanted to share that for us, Undefined is the place in Hamilton, for great food and amazing service. From the ever changing creative menu featuring the most imaginative ways to use the freshest ingredients to the flawless level of friendly service, Undefined just does it right. A warm shout out to our regular servers, the kitchen and the bartender / master barista for consistent excellence (and one of the best cappuccinos in the city). You know you have found a favourite place when you and your family and friends just say lets do brunch and there is no discussion as to where we are going! ;) We had the pleasure of dining at Undefined for the first time on Sunday March 5th. Although our first time we felt like we were regulars as soon as we arrived. Even before discussing the food and beverage experience, the service provided by our server Lindsay needs to be highlighted. Lindsay defines excellence in a member of front of house for Undefined. From menu recommendations to just the right amount of checking in with us during our visit made us both in agreement that Lindsay defined our Undefined Brunch. Adult coffee and a gin and elder flower martini (a weekend special, we hope to see as a permanent menu item for our next visit) started us off. We opted for sharing the crispy brie and beet salad as an app. Next in line was our mains of braised short rib in a yorkie benny and the open faced croque madame. As I write this review I am wishing we had of ordered a take out repeat of our brunch. Great menu selections, fresh ingredients a wonderful atmosphere and second to none service. We cant wait to return to Undefined.

Had a fig jelly or jam way to sweet ruined the coat cheese plate the onion jam same too sweet have to cut the sweetness

Meats cooked for more than 20hours, smoked cocktails served in a crystal skull, fig with gorgonzola and blue cheese is something that you will find in this place. When you are looking for something refreshing and new is hard to find places like this just reading over internet, at least in Hamilton. I came here due a colleague recommendation and I didnt know what to expect. The staff is really kind, worried that you will have the best experience. I cant tell about what to expect other than you are going to love it if you like to try something different. Cocktails and entrees are delicious and there is a nice variety of them. Its the place to bring a date or to meet with you very best friends. The deco is unique and the kitchen is open which for me is a great way to understand the amount of work and time is put into everything. Come here, relax, try something different and leave a nice tip.

If I could give this place a 6, I would. Every food item from apps to mains was outstanding. Truly delicious, beautifully presented and with great portion sizes. Our table host Ryan was absolutely amazing, knowledgable and friendly. And the vibe was relaxed, comfortable and casual. One of the best meals Ive had in a long time. I highly recommend Undefined to anyone reading this.

Little bit expensive but worth the experience

I went here for dinner with a friend on a Friday night and had a great experience! The food and drinks were excellent. I got the UD Burger with a Black Cherry Shrub (mocktail). I also tried the Aleppo & Grapefruit Faux-Loma (another mocktail). The service was amazing too. Mike was so attentive and had such a fun personality! Parking: Free street parking weekday evenings though since there s a lot of restaurants it can be a bit tricky to find a close spot.

This place outranks a lot of Toronto bars, with the incredible service, amazing food, and intricate, well-made cocktails. Every time Ive come here the staff have been so welcoming and attentive. You can tell the bartenders really care about every drink they make, and the secret handshake is ALWAYS a hit, especially after a few drinks when the bartender has gotten to know your palette.

We landed up finding Undefined by accident on a Monday night when other restaurants in the area are closed. We are so glad we stumbled upon it. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is amazing and we can t wait to go back with friends. Parking: There is a large parking lot across the street as well as street parking.

This is the 3rd time that I and my sweet lady have been here. The service, waitress and atmosphere has just blown are minds. I can highly recommend this great place to anyone and everyone.

Cosy, cool vibe on King William. The food was artfully presented and tasted delicious. We had the shrimp and chorizo paello, hanger steak and gniocci and no one was disappointed. The service was impeccable and well be back.

Sat on their patio which is on the cobbled street. Super atmosphere on a sunny Sunday sipping chilled beers and brunching away ! Their brunch menu is brilliant. We had the Egg Bene Beef Brisket and Potato Croquette and the Farmers Sausage and Egg Skillet. Both were brilliant. For drinks we had Caesars and Beers.. Caesars were non traditional in an old fashion glass. I like my Caesars in a tall glass or a Caesar glass with all the deco / garnish and the fanfare on the top. Nonetheless the Caesar still tasted great ! Kitchen took time (1 Hour) to bring out our food but was worth the wait and the 1 hr flew by quick. The beers were nice and chilled ! Im coming back here soon !

Overwhelmed yet friendly staff with reasonably good food and a unique menu. The seared tuna was presented well but lacked flavour to be honest. The noodles were tasty. Good wine choices on a curated list. My other guests enjoyed their meals (Briskett and a peach salad) so I will give Undefined 4 stars.

Service was great, food was very good. Highly recommend it. The only con is that it is located in Hamilton. Not a desirable location at all.

Will be coming back! The food and drinks were awesome! They switch up the menu often, so I wont describe them. You can tell it was done with intention and care! Their ingredients were well utilized (wild boar in the appetizers was excellent). After a discussion, we were able to select drinks made to our tasting. Well done, Lindsey! They were awesome. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale but still casual and down to earth. They have 2 garage doors that open, which let in a lot of light. Well done, see you soon

Great food with great portions. I had the burger. The candied bacon made it slightly too sweet compared to savory, and the sauce for the fries wasnt very interesting.

This is our go-to special meal place. A unique menu, out of this world customer service, super super tasty, and reasonable prices. The meals are on the pricier side but they are pricier for a reason, quality ingredients, and clearly a lot of thought and care is put into flavour profiles and plating and atmosphere. And when I say pricier, sure you can get a super fancy meal here, but most of the meals are around the $30 mark which isn t bonkers, especially with it being so friggin good. It can be a little loud and cozy with fellow diners, but they are working with the space they have and I can t fault them for that. We have enjoyed everything we have had here. My did didn t love the fish, but I think he was looking for a classic fish and chips situation, so if you re looking for classic foods this may not be your jam, but if you re looking for a unique and professionally curated sort of meal, this is your spot. And when they heard my dad didn t love his meal, it was comped. All that to say, this is my favourite restaurant in Hamilton

Came here with my sister for dessert after having dinner somewhere else. Staff was very accommodating. Got us seats right away. Our waitress was very cheerful and knowledgeable. You could tell she loved her job. Our dessert came out in a timely fashion. I like it. Definitely want to check it out again. Next time lunch or dinner.

We had a great dinner before the CCMA legend show. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and so great and the prices are reasonable. Draft beer would be amazing though.

Had a wonderful brunch today for the first time. The food and drinks were absolutely out of this world! I have never had such a tasty mimosa and cocktail before in my life. The short rib Benedict was incredible. The staff was friendly and attentive. Great decor. We will definitely be making the trip to Hamilton again for this place!

It was our first time at Undefined and unfortunately will also be the last time. We found this restaurant on Google and decided to give it a try because of the positive reviews. When we arrived there were not many people. However, it still took quite a while before we were given a menu. After we ordered, we were served with breads but guess what, there was a piece of hair in it! I couldn t get hold of our server because she was always busy serving others. When she came she just took away the bread with my fork still on it, without saying anything. No apology or whatsoever. Then we were left alone guessing how it would be dealt with but no, no one ever came to our table. After about 20 minutes we finally got hold of her and told her that we had enough and we would be leaving. We waited for almost 40 minutes and didn t get our food. The servers didn t seem to care. We are really disappointed at this place.

Food presentation is really well done here. Very busy. Book ahead if you can. Atmosphere was excellent.

We shared the wild boar dumplings to start - they were amazing. I had the short rib and my dining companions had the Walleye and the special (halibut cheek). Everyone loved their meals, zero complaints, and great service. We tried several cocktails as well - all delicious. The only knock on atmosphere is because we had a 2 hour time slot before the next dinner reservation, so it felt a bit rushed at the end. That said, Im glad they are turning over tables and the demand is well deserved!

What a fun spot. Went based on a friend s recommendation and were thrilled with the food and drinks ! The place was a bit tight for our party of 5 and the bar seating wasn t the best for conversation as it was quite lively. The waiters were great although we would have appreciated them being more attentive for drink refills and providing dessert options ;)

I just had dinner here for the first time, and the cocktails are delicious and expertly made, the atmosphere was very cool and inviting, and the staff were very friendly. They ve done a solid job of marrying upscale dining with a casual atmosphere. The food was on another level - I was very impressed and will be thinking about it for the rest of the week. I had the wild boar dumplings for an appetizer and the duck and risotto as my main. Very high quality dishes and I can confidently say I will be back in the future.

The food and service was great! But the whole experience was not at all enjoyable due to a waiter/door greeter who talked so loudly and excessively that the conversation at the table was drowned out and frequently had to be repeated. Very irritating. I liked the menu but will not return.

This is one of the better restaurants Ive ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my travels. While on business, I was more expecting to eat some bar food in downtown Hamilton but stumbled accross this masterpiece of a restaurant radnomly. My co-workers and I still talk about it.

Undefined is definitely one of Hamilton s hidden gem. Just a quick walk away from James Street North, the restaurant can be easily accessible on foot. If you drive, there is a municipal parking lot near by (it can be busier on the weekends). Both their brunch and dinner menu are amazing, with delicious food fantastic and drinks. The ambient atmosphere and friendly service surely contribute to the 10/10 experience each visit. If you are ever in the area looking for a good place to eat, check out Undefined!

My husband and I stopped in here for a quick bite and drinks before we headed to an event tonight for our anniversary and we were so surprised and impressed with not only the food, and amazing drinks, but the bartender Mike was absolutely incredible, so easy so chat with, was so helpful in making adjustments to my drink. (Honestly the best paloma Ive ever had hands down!) He listened, held such a wonderful and enjoyable conversation and you can really see his passion for his work. Mike you are absolutely hands down impeccably amazing at you job and we will most definitely be back because of you!

Try the Furious George!

The food was okay and was more burnt that what I anticipated. I think the fire was a bit too high in the kitchen. I ended up skipping the sourdough bread because it was too bitter. The ambiance is great and the service was good. The wait wasn t that bad either.

There are a lot of people, its quite lively, and the waiters are also very enthusiastic. The food tastes a bit average, the portion is large, but its too sweet.

Best brunch in Hamilton, and they have the best Benedict I ever had

Me and my friends just walked in to grab lunch, and was very pleasantly surprised by the amazing food and service. I had the Pork Jowl Corn Bread Benedict. The pork jowl was cooked to perfection, crispy crust and juicy in the inside. Well seasoned and spiced. Sauce and plating were very nice too. I do think that the chipotle-inspired(?) sauce could be more bold though, some more spice would do it nice to help lift heaviness of the dish. On that note some slices of thin onions or leek on top would also help with the balance of the dish. Most of all, most amazing service by our waiter/bartender mike. Very friendly, responsive, and warm!

I m unsure of why I couldn t get the mayo aioli on the side. So that ruled out many dishes. Specifically the crab beignets . I can t believe the response to asking for mayo on the side was basically well that s how it s served. Super dark in there. Needed our phone lights to see the menu. Server was nice. Just seemed ingenuine.

We stumbled in here by accident on a date night! Food was exceptional. Top shelf anywhere. Service was equal. We sat at the bar and the experience was fantastic! Atmosphere was cool, fun, a little eclectic, but overall just an unexpectedly perfect experience. I want everyone to know. Theyre that good.

UNDEFINED is definitely going to be a fan favorite for us. The food was unbelievably good, the service was some of the best I have ever gotten and tha atmosphere is amazing. We will definitely be back!!

Very tasty Duck Breast that came with gnocchi and creme bruele for dessert.

Food was ambitious, but I cant say they pulled it off well. I had braised lamb that they said was sous vide, but I found it overdone. My colleagues who had burgers and fries were more impressed. They also had issues seating our group of 10+, asking us to shuffle around a few time to make space, but nobody else came to the restaurant, so Im not sure what the point was...

The service is consistently good. We were served by Ryan on most evenings and he was very attentive and provided a great experience. Definitely recommend this spot for a girls night and other occasions. Their espresso martini with gelato is a must try and so is their whipped goat cheese with grilled sour dough bread!

The most flavourful meals I ve ever tasted.

Had the most appalling experience this past weekend. Me and my girlfriends came in for a drink. We knew a large party that was already there so we walked over and said hello briefly. We then came to the bar and I was told in a very rude voice there s no standing room at the bar, take your seat ! I didn t even manage to make it to my seat in time before I was told this. Super rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Don t speak to your patrons like they are children. Then the bald headed (sorry I didn t catch his name) bartender came over and told us that he didn t feel comfortable serving us alcohol and that he was bring us only water to start. There was ZERO reason for this. Nothing my friends or I had done was indicative that we had been drinking or that we were intoxicated. Then the manager came by and was unapologetic. As I was talking to him, that same bartender blew my friend a condescending kiss. Incredibly unprofessional and childish. We will NEVER return here. I strongly urge the owner to get better staff because these people leave a horrible taste in your mouth. The restaurant s response to my friend who also left a review is a total fabrication. No one in our party was dancing. There was a table of over 10 girls who can confirm this. Further, no one was slurring words or intoxicated. To blatantly lie to support your discriminatory staff is unacceptable!

As for the drinks, they followed the same trend. The cocktails were average at best, lacking creativity and balance. It felt like they were missing that special touch to make them stand out among the numerous other options available elsewhere. Service can make or break an experience, and unfortunately, it was the latter at Undefined. Its disheartening when the service doesnt match the ambiance of a place, and in this case, it detracted significantly from the overall visit. Overall, Undefined failed to live up to its potential. Its hard to recommend this establishment when there are plenty of other dining options that excel in both cuisine and hospitality.

Regarding the owners response, Im compelled to emphasize: Please read to the end. My experience at Undefined in Hamilton was quite disappointing. From the moment we walked in, the bartenders seemed judgmental, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. On attempting to express our concerns, we found the manager to be unresponsive, seemingly backing up the staff under false pretenses. This lack of willingness to address customer issues is indicative of poor management. Ive visited the restaurant both in a large group and a smaller party of four, and the consistency of the subpar experience is concerning. During our last visit, the establishments poorly managed policies were evident. We were treated like children, being instructed to sit down on a Saturday night, which was both unexpected and frustrating. As someone with over 15 years of experience in the service industry and possessing a Smart Serve certification, I have never encountered such dismissive and disrespectful customer service. Due to these negative experiences, I will never return nor recommend Undefined in Hamilton. It is evident that the establishment requires significant improvements in both service quality and management practices. Regarding the owners response, Im compelled to emphasize: We are well-versed in and compliant with the laws and regulations, given our collective experience and Smart Serve certification. Implying otherwise is false. 1. None of us were intoxicated; the insinuation that we were is disrespectful and a tasteless attempt to justify mistreatment. 2. Contrary to the owners statement, we were NOT dancing around. Our actions were misrepresented, which reflects poorly on your commitment to honesty and customer relations. 3. Your attempt of providing a great guest experience is contradicted by backing up and supporting your staff, even when they were clearly at fault. Refusing to acknowledge our perspective undermines your commitment to customer satisfaction. The defensive and unaccountable nature of your response is tasteless. A genuine effort to understand our side would have prevented the need for negative reviews. Its disappointing that our concerns were dismissed without proper consideration. Moreover, I see defensive stance in the owners responses to negative reviews, often attributing blame to the customer, raises concerns about the customer-centric approach of the establishment.

Would give 0 stars. Bald bartender is rude and condescending. Avoid this place if you can until there is new bartender and management. Braised short rib was 5/10.

I recently went here, and unfortunately, I had a terrible experience there due to the poor customer service. The management treated the problems disrespectfully and failed to handle them professionally. I had a feeling that right from the start, the head bartender made an assumption about our personalities based only on the fact that we were smiling and laughing. Upon entering, Mike, the head bartender assumed we were drunk and proceeded to treat us with disrespect. According to the smart serve policy, he had alternative options if he thought we were drunk before going too far and said he felt uncomfortable serving us. We showed no indications of being drunk. I would advise your staff to review the smart service policy and distinguish between indicators of intoxication and personality traits if you label a group of girls who are laughing and happy as the highest signs of intoxication.

The meal was decent when we went here for my friends birthday, but there are better options in the city. When I attempted to order my friend a shot, the server kindly informed me that she was already enjoying a cocktail and ordering a shot was not allowed. If you want to have fun, stay away from this place.

Came here with my Dad last Sunday for dinner. We had a great time. Got multiple dishes to share... The whipped goat ricotta with a fig jam and 48 braised beef short ribs were our favs! For dessert, warm sticky toffee pudding and a dulce de leche chess pie! Service was fast and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking to try out some unique dishes in Hamilton! Had high hopes for this place based on the excellent reviews but was severely disappointed. We ordered the short ribs based in the server recommendation that they were fall off the bone instead what we got was dry short ribs. Not worth the price at all. Their drinks aren t anything worth mentioning either. Service was meh, the head bartender is rude and condescending as well, he needs some customer service training. There are better places in Hamilton that are more worth your time. Undefined is a miss.

My recent visit to Undefined left much to be desired. The food and drinks were quite average. To add to the disappointment, the service was rude, detracting from any positives the ambiance offered. Overall, an underwhelming experience that doesnt warrant a return visit. Would highly NOT recommend going.

We love this place! Came for the tasting menu and were blown away. Definitely treat yourself and experience what they are doing down there. Definitely high calibre. The feast of the 7 fishes was outstanding and exceeded all of our expectations.

Safe to say Undefined makes you want to come back over and over again. A top notch restaurant with an even better staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Undefined is hands down one of the best places to dine at in Hamilton. The food and service were both amazing! My party was greeted and immediately we were taken care of. The server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The meal itself was amazing, we had the short rib and it was cooked to perfection with the meat falling off the bone. The bar also produced some of the best and most creative drinks I ve had in a while! Overall you have to eat here it is a 10/10 experience!

This is just one of those restaurants you cant overlook. Undefined is up there with some of the best spots Ive ever been to. The food, service, drinks, and atmosphere here is unrivalled in Hamilton. My first time coming here was for dinner based on a friends recommendation a few years ago, and since then Ive been back countless times for meals and even experienced their brunch menu. You can tell that a lot of time, effort, and passion by the staff and management goes into this place and as a customer you feel that energy as soon as you walk through the front door. The food is amazing, the staff is top-tier, and they always have a great drink on the menu that is the perfect pairing to your dish. Also, did I mention that they change a few items on their menu every few months? Never a dull experience at Undefined, 11/10 Recommend!

Edit - had to provide more insight to my review after experiencing The Feast of The Seven Fishes - Chefs Menu this past Saturday night. Me and my boyfriend have often done tasting menus before at other restaurants, but this was by far the best value and tasting experiences we have had to date. Spaghetti a la chitarra with a smoked mussel cream was the highlight for myself. My boyfriend however loved the lobster sfingi presented in a glass coupe - love the creativity and attentive to detail. I myself dont drink, however, my boyfriend opted for the cocktail pairing and found each drink was curated to perfectly match the flavour profile of the dishes themselves. Next time he wants to try the wine pairing option! If you are looking for a more memorable restaurant experience and something different than an Al Et Carte menu, we would both highly recommend doing one of Undefineds Chef Menus! Thank You! Pretty suspicious how many of the recent reviews are 5 stars, written by people with only 1-2 reviews on their account, and only a short sentence long. Usually when I rate a restaurant 5 stars, there are a lot of great things I want to say about the food, service, atmosphere, etc. Certainly much longer than one sentence that says nothing specific about the visit. So easy to tell when the reviews are legitimate and when they arent. Anyway, went here for brunch back in the summer and it was so forgettable that writing a review completely slipped my mind. I have no idea what the reviews are talking about with the great food, great atmosphere, great service because this place is none of those. I got a benedict and a mimosa and ended up paying $50 which is pretty outrageous, even given the recent price of food. Service was slow, drinks were forgotten (had to remind server multiple times), and theres just no way that any of this justified the price tag. Hamilton has so many great restaurants (even just on King William), I just dont think this one competes with the food and service quality of the other options.

We dined at Undefined a this past weekend and the whole experience was amazing. The service was top shelf, very professional. We sat at the bar and our bartender Lindsay was great. The cocktails were well crafted and some of the best we have had. For our meal we shared the roasted beets with Gorgonzola and for main we had the duck and my partner had the tortellini. The food was out of this world!

Food and service are excellent as always! Ive gone on several occasions and noticed that they regularly change the menu, which makes it much more exciting. Our table ordered the prawn risotto, UD burger, and the tortellini, and each of us were wowed by the creativity and flavours that go into these dishes. Great Job Undefined! My best friend and I went to Undefined for our annual Christmas dinner and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our server Ryan was super knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The online menu wasnt exactly reflective of what was on the in-restaurant menu but it was close enough to be okay (and a changing menu shows more use of fresh ingredients so thats not a bad thing!). We started with the lobster beignets, then the duck and short ribs, ending with the affogato. Everything was fantastic with great portions and awesome flavors. Were looking forward to going back!

Definitely our new favorite restaurant in Hamilton. Have been several times and the service and food is alway phenomenal. Ryan our server is a true pro at what he does. We are always thrilled when he s working and he always says hello even if he s not serving us.

Have been to Undefined several times, and once again it did not disappoint last weekend. We had a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. We ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert, and all met or exceeded our expectations. Undefined changes their menu and adds new and seasonal choices to their menu on a regular basis - always something new to try. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine, and are always happy with the beverage choices that Undefined has to offer. The presentation of cocktails is amazing! Wait staff and bartenders were welcoming, and offered great suggestions and explanations of new items on the menu, as well as answering our questions. The manager came by to ask how we were enjoying our meal, and the waitress (Kate) was efficient and friendly. Already planning our next visit! Great job Undefined!

Not the greatest service--didnt love the food either. Definitely fits the name...un*de*fined.

Everything about was restaurant was ok. I had the chicken and waffles and it was nothing special. I came because of the great reviews but I didn t think it was worth a 5 star review. Service, food, atmosphere meets the minimum standards.

What an amazing find. Small, intimate, wonderful flavors, and an amazing staff. What else can you ask for? Hangar steak was such a surprise. Bartender was so attentive and made an absolutely amazing old fashioned.
