Loved the ambiance. Went in 30 minutes before closing with a friend and got the Shish Tawook Wrap. Was not disappointed at all. We were also served complimentary tea. Would definitely come back for the chicken shawarma some time

I came in today, it was a cold and windy day, after some browsing ordered supreme sandwich. As I sat down they had nice warm kahwah ready to drink. The server brought the sandwich but like 4 minutes later the chef or maybe the owner came out with a nice and warm lentil soup. Said it was on the house and he just wanted me to feel comfortable on this cold day. It was a kind gesture and I appreciate it a lot. Wholesome folks who care for customers. The sandwich itself was also really good.

I got the original chicken wrap and it didn t Hit at all for me but might for you. They say its authentic syrian sandwich but its not. The chicken was different from og shawarma as it was not like burnt or crispy IT DEFINITELY DID NOT FEEL LIKE IT WAS MADE ON SEXY ROTATING FLAME SKEWER That pops in ur head when u think of shawarma. The chicken was like Medium Rare softish like soup & very pale like no spcies. It didn t have the classic Darkish Brown tint on it. The bread felt like dough and not classic pita or saj. i expected the bread to be soft and crispy (og syrian) {{ }} with sexy burnt makrs. I also asked for pickles & turnip but there was barely any (check pic) and for $14.68 It didn t fullfill. The garlic sauce was nice and their atmosphere is appealing. Might come back to dine try other stuff but definitely not shawarma wrap.

My partner and I tried this place while in Hamilton. It was a comfortable and friendly atmosphere with great food. The tapestry was nice to see, it gave a Middle Eastern vibe to the place. They started us off with a small cup of tea which was so nice. We shared the ground chicken kabob plate, which was very flavourful and authentic. The falafel was also amazing. Fattouche was a little simple for my preference. Lentil soup was also a little on the simple side, and slightly thin in texture. Overall we did love it and would return.

Hands down, the best Middle East culinary experience, that incidentally came from Syria. Tested and retested, chef Tomeh made us feel so fortunate to be able to sample his genius in cooking.

Tomah is our favourite spot in Hamilton. It is a true family owned gem with exceptional food and great service. We love the dining room. My kids really enjoy the food.

Excellent food with a very Syrian atmosphere. Server (Bayan) was so pleasant and friendly. Food was fresh. Chicken kabobs were delicious.

I got the Shish Tawook Wrap, I enjoyed it and it is a very big size! Only thing was the garlic sauce felt a little overwhelming. The lady who checked out my food was super nice and gave me a complimentary lentil soup which was pretty good. I like the website they use for online orders, it was super easy.

We ordered beef kabab family platter. Within a few hours me and my wife had a food poisoning. Usually I don t write reviews but I was really disappointed. Plus it wasn t tasty. The shawarma my friend s order was good.

We ordered the beef kebob plate. The food normally comes with three skewers of kebab. They gave us an extra complimentary skewer which was so nice of them. Our food was delicious and quick. A bit salty for my taste but nothing to complain.The staff were friendly and it was a cozy nice spot.

We absolutely LOVE Tomah!! I think we have ordered most items on the menu and we cannot pick a fav. They are all so good!!! Though I will say that we have to order the sampler platter and the house pickles every time - they are must haves! The sandwiches are delightful (hello Akawi cheese w chicken) and the heart shaped falafels are perfection. The fattoush salad is also a top salad, but they are all great options. Thank you to the entire team who make these incredible dishes, we are so grateful for you all! As are our happy bellies!

A Syrian friend introduced me to Tomah and I am glad they did! Food is always full of flavour and made fresh to order. Even better is the I lovely family who own and operate the business! The last time I posted a review, it was during covid, so I hadnt had an opportunity to dine in restaurant. This updated review is to tell folks in this city that Tomah is one of the best places to eat. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff attentive. The food is always delicious, and something we look forward to when we dont want to cook our own meals. Since our return to office, Ive made a few trips as the location is close enough to walk.

My favourite restaurant in Hamilton. Fresh, healthy and utterly delicious Syrian food, all lovingly prepared from scratch. Even the cheeses and the baklava are homemade, and absolutely supernal. I also love their beef kibbeh, muttabal (so creamy, so smoky!), and maqlubeh (maqluba?). I was heartbroken when they were forced to close their original location due to an outrageous rent increase. When they unexpectedly reopened on King St. W., I was ecstatic and grateful. Such a lovely, kind-hearted family running this place. I hope they stay here for a long, long time.

The heart shaped falafel are so cute and crispy and delicious. The sandwiches are also delicious. Wonderful staff who work very hard. So luck yo have them in this neighborhood.

Best falafel in the city!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Hamilton. Great food and service, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated in a traditional style. Has a number of tasty vegan options.

We walked into this restaurant because the one we were looking for doesn t exists anymore, so it was a complete gamble. The food was so remarkable, we are glad our original plans fell through. The food is brilliant but our eyes got a feast taking in the decor as we waited for our meal. It s gorgeous. Wish this restaurant was at home so I could eat there more often.

This is such an amazing authentic Syrian food with a modern twist. The food and portion size is excellent. I will be returning here again.

The young waitress was very nice and accommodating to my requests. Shes a social gem. The food was pretty good. The Kebbeh had an interesting twist with the addition of pomegranate beside the onions and ground beef. The cheese sandwich with chicken shawarma was not bad. The cheese didnt really fit the sandwichs normal shawarma taste but its good to taste something new and different sometimes. Overall a good experience. Worth it to try Tomah at least once but a 4.9 overall review is quite a stretch.

A great little place. If you want a quiet and relaxed atmosphere with great food at a really good price, this is it! We tried a lot of items from their menu and there was nothing that disappointed.

This place is amazing! The falafel sandwich are light with tasty garlic sauce. We shared their Sample Plate with a hummus, babaganoush-sque dip, and one of their homemade cheeses- delish! The pitas are thinner, not the kind of thicker bread-ish ones that are more common. The chicken shawarma is delightful. Not too saucy. Chicken is nicely seasoned. (Edit) recently tried their falafel dinner and it too was delicious! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely going back!

Our daughter and granddaughter were visiting from Sweden and we were looking for a restaurant to visit the night before they flew home. We were a group of 5 and had never been before. Not even their former location on Locke St. Our visiting daughter is actually a chef and she as well as the rest of us were pleasantly surprised. Their flavoured tea serve upon arrival was surprisingly delicious and we all had something different and all of us were won over by everything. Our server was wonderful, kind, helpful and very efficient. Highly recommend and more people should review because TOMAH should be listed higher on the list of Hamilton restaurants.

Freaking delicious Syrian food, so good I ordered the same meal to go! I got a falafel with fries sandwich and house pickles! I m vegetarian so this was a great place. I bought two of the same meals, with one appetizer. Even left overs, the next day taste the same. Whenever I come back to Hamilton, I will be back here! This place is amazing! We had the Falafel Wrap and the Beef Kabob. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and were properly seasoned. They even made Heart Shaped falafels for us. We cant wait to eat here again! Vegetarian options: You have to try the Falafel!

We really enjoy the food from Tomah and have eaten in three times. But, last night we had a waitress who clearly wished she was anywhere else. I mentioned to her that we had a reservation. Instead of acknowledging that and noting we had arrived she looked at me, then at the near-empty restaurant with a glance that said, duh and said Sit anywhere with a dismissive swipe of her hand. She took our orders and brought the food. She then completely ignored our table for the entire time we were there. Didnt ask how we were enjoying the food. Did not ask if wed like more water. Didnt ask if wed like dessert. Didnt ask if we were done. She just sat behind the counter looking bored beyond redemption. We finally had to summon her to get more water (which never came) and dessert. When we asked for the bill she said Pay at the counter. Her attitude spoiled the experience. Last time we were there a waiter named Andy was jovial, attentive and fun. This was just the opposite. Really unfortunate for Tomah. Hope the service improves for others.

Tried this restaurant for the first time today after craving some middle eastern cuisine. We ordered take out - lentil soup, falafel, labneh, kibbeh beef, chicken shawarma plate. Everything was delicious, fresh and nicely presented and packaged. The chicken is juicy and tasty, just perfect. The hummus is creamy and on point. Our favourite was the falafel - definitely the tastiest I ve had. It just tasted so fresh and like it was fried in the freshest cleanest oil. Even my extremely picky toddler ate it and enjoyed it. The only odd thing is that the soup came completely cold. Maybe it s supposed to be eaten that way? Regardless, a minute in the microwave and it still tasted great. The cost of everything was decent, the portions were good. We ll definitely eat from here again and again.

Tomah was on my list of places to try in Hamilton for the longest time. May be the hype around this place is the reason why it did not live up to my expectations. Got two dishes - Shawarma plate with fries - Maqloubeh with chicken skewers The shawarma plate with fries and salad was average at best. You can get a much better shawarma at SO many other places. I expected the maqloubeh meal with fried eggplant and chicken skewers to be outstanding in taste at least, if not quantity, given the price. Again, average at best. Their garlic sauce and hummus is as good as your local shawarma place. I am pretty sure, their hot sauce is just the store bought Franks RedHot. Going against the average reviews, I would not recommend this place. Parking: The location is right on King Street, finding parking may be easy or difficult depending on the time and day

One of my favourite restaurants in the city. The food is always consistently amazing and the service provided by the family and staff is always top notch - they are the sweetest, most amazing people! Must try s on the menu are the shish tawook, falafel, cheese rolls, and the hummus and lebnah. But honestly i ve loved everything i ve eaten here!

Came in at 8:20 for takeout and they decided to close the kitchen on us. I ve been wanting to go here for over a week but because they re closed random days its impossible. Now its too late to eat anywhere else as well. Was already recommending this place to others before I ate here but I only have negative things to share now.

The universal acclaim of Tomah is absolutely deserved. We work out of the Innovation Factory In Hamilton and we ordered takeaway lunch on May 02. We had big order of six Shawarmas, a Fattoush salad and lentil soup. All the shawarmas: Syrian, Falafel and Turkmani cheese were super tasty. The restaurant is a family run place with authentic Syrian cuisine and decor. The hosts were sweet and kind enough to give Falafels on the side for our party to enjoy. Food it below average, more than half the wrap was sauce and veggies, it would ooze out while you re eating and making a mess, don t see the hype at all

Great take out. Quick service, price was good for a solid amount of amazing food. We got the family platter and it fed 4 of us fully. Baklava was incredible too, albeit pricey. Definitely recommend for a mid week take out meal for friends or family! Got take out again, amazing service, friendliest folks ever. Will be a regular spot for us now that weve moved to the city. Got some extra falafels and a sesame cake dessert thrown in.

OMG!! Eating at Tomah was a real treat, the service is amazing, I was greeted with a warm smile and some delicious black tea. The Turkmani Cheese and Shawarma Sandwhich is absolutely to die for. The quality is the first thing I noticed on my first bite. I highly recommend this wonderful place if you want awesome food and service.. An exceptional eating experience in the middle of downtown Hamilton. Tomah brings an accuracy to taste that may be unparalleled in Ontario. I had the Maqluba which came with egg plant cooked to just the right flavour, texture, and sweetness to bring out the flavours of the eggplant. The Falafel Dish is a homage to Syrian cusine, each piece a heart-shaped packet that is dedicated to authenticity. Tomah is place that makes you want try every item on the menu.

Amazing falafel, theyre shaped like hearts if you ever wanna suprise your lover. Atmosphere is small, but could be busy. Lovely people and the music is pretty good too. Would eat again everytime I visit the city .

Tomah is a hidden gem in downtown Hamilton, right on King St. The friendly, attentive service and authentic Syrian cuisine were a delight! They have a menu with great selections and price ranges to suit everyone. Recommended!

I visited Tomah a couple of months ago on my way to Niagara Falls. For someone who used to eat falafel 2-3 times a week growing up, it is really hard to find a good falafel in Canada (I tried so many places in different cities). Tomah, however, makes really delicious falafel and hummus. One of only two places I would recommend. If I live around Hamilton, I would be a frequent customer, but I am a bit far away. Highly recommended.

Beautifully decorated interior, warm and engaging staff, and excellent food! Im familiar with some Middle Eastern food, but hadnt tried Syrian before, and am I glad I did! The Turkmani cheese and shawarma sandwich was delicious! The falafels are light and crispy, and the tea is a treat.

Came here with my friend on the recommendation of my boyfriend, and it was amazing! We split the sampler platter, the grapeleaves, and the the maqloubeh (eggplant) with chicken skewers. Everything was delicious! I want to especially highlight the grape leaves which had some pomegranite molasses creating a sweet and savoury flavour that worked really well! Staff were very welcoming and friendly!

Very cute spot for middle eastern cuisine. I was very exited to try authentic Syrian cuisine and I was not disappointed. Amazing atmosphere, and as soon as we sat down we were served tea( so delicious by the way, I m attempting to make a similar one at home!!)+ the food was amazing! I ordered the falafel meal, great spread with the heart falafel, hummus, salad and rice. I will definitely be coming back for more NEW ADDITION: 03/17/2024 Came back after a year and it has not changed, they make you feel like family; from the complimentary homemade tea and friendly staff to the meals it did not disappoint my tummy and heart is so full!! On top of that the lovely server ran out to give my husband his glasses that he forgot on the table! Thank you

UPDATE (DEC 23, 2023) Finally back at Tomah for a dine-in experience to celebrate my partners birthday. I knew I was having Falafel since Id been so impressed with the delicious heart-shaped ones wed had before. I was tempted by the Crispy Fried Fish (which my partner had - and thoroughly enjoyed), so next time, Ill have that. Three of my companions had the Falafel Sandwich Plate and one the Shawarma Plate, so I had a few of their fries. They are, as I had mentioned in my original review, so delicious! A delicious sweet tea was offered as we perused the menu, and tasty little date filled cookies as dessert. We left sated and satisfied (and with leftovers). Highly recommended! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Fantastic first experience at Tomah. Ordered several takeout platters of falafel wraps and shawarma wraps for a family gathering. Both types of wraps were delicious. Side orders of fries were excellent - crispy outside, fluffy on the inside. The heart-shaped falafel included were very cute. The dips included with platters and as side dishes (hummus, muttabal, and labneh) were so flavourful! We also enjoyed the Vine Leaves and Chickpea soup. Their hospitality is excellent - we were slightly early for our pick-up time and were served some delicious tea while we waited. Felt home-y the second I walked in! We were immediately greeted with a fragrant tea. Ordered the mixed dip sampler with hummus, muttabal (eggplant), labneh, pita bread, olives, pickled veggies, cucumber and tomato & chicken skewers with tabouleh quinoa salad. The food was delicious!! All the dips were flavourful and authentic, the salad was very fresh and chicken was well seasoned and juicy. We also got baklava to-go but found it a bit too sweet and not very flaky, would not get it again.

We started with the Falafel and vine leaves, and had the Syrian chicken sandwich and chicken shawarma plate. The food was fresh and delicious. This was my first time trying Syrian food, and I was not disappointed in the least. The staff was friendly, and the owner was in the back cooking. The portions were all very generous, especially for the prices. The restaurant feels quaint, and has an authentic feel.

Fantastic food! Cant say enough good things about the wonderful staff, they are always so friendly and welcoming, i feel like one of the family when im there! The food too is amazing! I love the Falafel, one of the best i have ever tasted!

I ordered the catering meal for our office lunch for about 20 people and the food was PHENOMENAL! We got there early to pick it up and while we waited we were offered a delicious tea and the food was ready to go on time. Everyone who worked there was pleasant, kind and friendly. Top notch restaurant with top notch food. Please check this place out!

AMAZING! Tomah is THE BEST SHAWARMA in the GTAH, as well as Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge. What other place puts their own homemade cheese INSIDE the shawarma wrap? Nobody else does this! A real treat. Absolutely delicious. The service? Phenomenal. After ordering we were given complimentary (hot) sweet tea, and a sample of a hot and steamy falafel. This wasnt the first time they did this either. Their homemade Arabic desserts to-go? Also amazing. A real taste of Syrian shawarma right here in Canada. Their new location is also really pretty. Perfect for a date night. The family who runs this place deserves an award. They are setting an example for how to run an establishment. Other restaurants, particularly that serve shawerma, you should start taking notes. But it doesnt matter because Ill ONLY be going to Tomah going forward.

Great tasting meals, and large portions enough to share with 2 people. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for Halal food. The complimentary tea was a nice added touch.. and the service was wonderful. Would definitely be visiting here more often!! Food

Wow. I didnt think a lunch wrap could be so flavourful! Came in for lunch, was greeted promptly with tea while I waited. The young server was kind and offered a suggestion for my first time. It was amazing!! Sweet, spicy and saucey. The falafel was so moist and full of flavour. Very much enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe in this small nook. Other customers also seemed to be enjoying the food. Definitely will return to try the sampling dip platter, and some sweets which are all on display by the cash. 5 stars.

I had an amazing experience at Tomah! The food is DELICIOUS and so fresh. The interior is clean and well decorated. And the complimentary tea is delicious. The service was fantastic too. A hidden gem in Hamilton!

One of the best places Ive been for Middle Eastern food. The staff is extremely pleasant. The food was delicious and the portions were large enough to feed 2-3 people. The complimentary tea should be part of their menu, it was delicious. Would visit here often because of their hospitality

What a lovely little place. We re traveling through Hamilton for a road trip and we ve been on the hunt for excellent shawarma. This charming restaurant offered a pleasant atmosphere, kind and friendly staff and delicious food. I d go back for the cool vibe and complimentary falafel alone.

Fantastic food, excellent service. We didnt have a lot of time before attending an event so we ordered online. When we arrived the table was set and the food hot and ready. We were able to enjoy our time eating. Shared 4 entrées and 2 appetizers among 5 adults (including 2 seniors) and everyone was full with a bit left over. Everything was good, especially the Supreme meal, crispy fried fish, and spring rolls with cheese. The seniors had no trouble hearing conversation over dinner as the restaurant was quiet. Would definitely recommend.

I came here to check the place out as the used to be located in Queen St but relocated to King after a lease issue. I m glad to see they ve found a new home. I was greeted by friendly people and they provided a soothing tea of cinnamon, cardamom, honey, ginger and sage. Nice touch. I mainly came in to check out the menu and their prices but was somehow swayed with the addition of the tea. The restaurant was clean. I ordered a falafel sandwich. It was delicious but I can t say that the value was that great. Falafel definitely seemed overpriced but perhaps it s the overhead from having a location at a busy sprawl on King St near the Hess St clubs. Regardless, positive experience.

This place rocks. Super awesome selection of cheesy spicy sandwiches and wraps. If you want just layers of cheese and spice this is the place for you.

My family and friends have been coming to and ordering from Tomah since 2018! We love their food and their service is always amazing. This restaurant is one of the best in all aspects. The quality of food is so amazing for the price, way better than most name-brand restaurants. Food is amazing whether you dine in or get take out! Dining in has the best experience and you can order many different types of cookies they make in house! I love their tea they serve it s one of my favourites.

Just stopped by to check out their highly recommended shawarma. Flavors and textures were on point, chicken was a little dry. Too much white meat, not enough dark? Falafel bites fluffy, crispy and delicious. Hummus perfectly balanced and creamy. Service was very friendly, atmosphere cozy and inviting.

Best middle Eastern food in Hamilton, hands down. Shortbread with hazelnuts, baklava shredded to look like birds nest e/tons of butter, wrapped around pistachio goodness, and the wraps are like youve died and gone to heaven. Plus, they have a chai tea with cardamom, cinnamon, sugar and get this....sage! Never would have thought of that, but the sage provides a nice, unexpected finish to the tea. The sandwich was so good theres none left to take a picture of. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian items are clearly marked.

The falafel meal is so delicious. I eat it once a week now for lunch. Hummus is very good too.

There is a reason Tomah is rated so highly. After ordering a catering spread for my family, we were greeted on arrival with tea while they finished packing the last few items so everything was fresh. The staff was wonderful, and the food was awestriking. My favourites were the marvelous falafel, with the fluffiest texture ive ever had, and the cheese spring rolls were a surprise hit as well! The decor was beautiful and I will absolutely be returning to dine in. Thank you so much!

You always get lots to eat. The food is really good. Dont wait for the server when youre done, just go up to the counter. They have awesome desserts to take away.
