Rise Above Pizza & Wings in Hamilton

Such a cool place to eat and chill at. The menu is awesome, you wont be disappointed no matter what you order (the mac and cheese is incredible, so is the pizza) and the drinks are really fun too! Love the touch of the pinball machines and the vhs decor throughout the restaurant. This is definitely in my top 5 best spots to eat in Hamilton. Even if you arent vegan, you gotta try this spot asap. Vegetarian options: This place is 100% vegan, no meat is used at all.

I ordered take out at the till, and a cider to drink while I waited for the food. I was not served the drink, and the person serving me started putting chairs on the tables because it was close to closing time. I assumed I had not made it clear I wanted the drink to pass the time, but didnt mind it really, I could have it at home with the meal. After a short wait I received the bag with food and left. When I was walking home I realized they had forgotten the drink entirely. Update: the food is great though. Update 2: The owner reached out, apologized and offered me a giftcard. I went back and got a whole bunch of food (classic roni za, ginger slaw, meteorites), and a drink again. It was all very nice. Orchid at the till was also very gracious and helpful. Upped one star! Vegetarian options: Its plants all the way down, baby.

Always great. The slightly more premium price is consistent with the uniqueness and quality of the pizza. Ive never regretted an order. Wings are best vegan wings Ive had yet. This opinion has not changed in the years Ive gone here

Absolutely amazing vegan food!

Ive been vegan for almost a decade now and this place has the best vegan food ever! (Ive had about half the menu by now and havent been disappointed yet.) This is also the only place I would ever bring a non-vegan person because I honestly dont think they would be able to tell the difference. Huge fan!

Vegan Heaven! We had a big celebration and decided to feast with Rise Above. Perfect choice. We had pepperoni pizza, cheese pizza, bucket of wings with honey garlic sauce and bbq sauce, the fettuccini pasta...everything was beyond delicious! Even the non vegans loved it. Thank you so much for making this meal incredible.

Their pizza and wings are the absolute best. I wish they were open for lunchtimes. The food is 5 star, but the music was so loud and unpleasant a choice for a dining atmosphere that I had to drop the rating to a 3. Maybe they do it to prevent lingering. It worked. Wish they had better hours. The only lunch time opening hours are on Saturday.

pros. best gluten free pizza base i have ever tasted. best seitan pieces i have ever tasted. cons. the ghost buffalo sauce that accompanied the bucket of seitan pieces has been haunting my digestive system for 9 hours. the next time i order this sauce, and i will because i crave it, i will ask if it can be cut with something to reduce the scoville rating. i hope this is a request that can be accomodated. but congratulations. you win. well played.

I was there last night, and I highly recommend this place. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Not to mention the music was great. For anyone looking for a good spot to spend their Friday night, this is the place.

Im fairly certain this is the best plant-based pizza Ive ever had. I usually drag my omnivore friends here and even they end up wide-eyed and wanting to go back. Cool atmosphere and the service has always been great whether Im grabbing a slice or taking a seat. Will go again, and again, and again, and again....

Weve ordered 3 times and never again. The food doesnt reheat well, the crust and base of the pizza is like cardboard. Absolutely love vegan food, Bring Me Some never disappoints, and at a similar price point too. Easier to get pizza dough at Coven, vegan cheese and pepperoni and make it at home, tastes way better.

Pretty cool place to try something new. I personally didnt like the cheese on the pizza though the dough was nice. We tried the wings the maple garlic was better than the BBQ. The wings itself were ok, you kinda just eat two or three then taste the setain. Its a great place to get the vibe of eating meat again. Though for me I dont like the taste of some fake meats. It was a fun experience. I definitely want to try the Alfredo pasta next time.

Had lunch here with a friend, The restaurant itself is super cute and I love the decor. The staff were super nice. Funny enough we didnt realize it was vegan at first(idk how we missed the signs lol), & we almost didnt notice either. The food was great, we both got a slice of pepperoni with a garlic dip and it was amazing. The only thing about this place is that it is a little on the pricey side for most menu items but the single slice (which is a decent size) is a decent deal at $5.

Fantastic (albeit a bit pricey) option for pizza in the city. I am not vegan myself, but really enjoyed the food. In fact the onion rings were the best Ive had anywhere, ever, full stop. If you enjoy interesting / different flavor profiles, and trying food that isnt the same old, same old, this is probably a great place to check out!

Nobody knows how to make it , you also burned that bread I thrown that in the dustbin. Try to learn it. And your pizza base cloud be more better. Thanks. Overall OK . Im obsessed with seitan wings at Rise Above Pizza & Wings in Hamilton. I used to drive to their St. Catherines location just to stuff myself with wings, so I was very excited to have a location open in Hamilton this fall. Get the wings! The pizzas are also pretty damn good. You can get them by the slice or order a freshly made whole pie. The taco pizza special was fabulous and I hope they add it to the permanent menu. A word of warning...Rise Aboves Buffalo Sauce is not really Buffalo Sauce. Its a dark, brown-red in colour and the tasty is sweet, which is far from the the orange tang of its actual namesake. Dont get me wrong, its a great tasting BBQ sauce, but I was disappointed that my experience did not meet my expectation. I think they should rename this sauce just to be clearer with their customers. This sauce is available on both their wings and their pizza. The location is fairly drafty and, as we move into winter, Ive noticed that cold air moves freely at floor level. Come dressed for a little chill and you will be able to enjoy your seitan wings in comfort. Did I mention that the wings at Rise Above truly rock? ;)

We went to Rise Above Pizza and Wings today and had a great experience. We ordered a kale Caesar salad, deep fried pickles, carbonara pizza, Buffalo wings and sesame ginger wings. Everything was delicious! I can t wait to go back and try more items from their menu.

Pizza is kind of kool but the pepperoni and cheese is so wet . Wings used to be bomb but they are so big and the seitan is so wet it s off putting. Also felt the tall man who runs it was always very rude to me and very flirty with my husband. It was not kool. Girls at the cash have always been so sweet and they have a good take on the Moscow mule drink. Very hit or miss. 50$ per large pizza with a tip wild. idk if it s near worth it.

Three of us came for dinner - my partner and I are omnivores but but we always look for great new spots to take our vegan friend when she visits. We ordered the coleslaw, fettuccine Alfredo, wings and (broccoli) pizza and declared them all delicious. They really nailed the texture of wings - super impressive, and the pizza was immaculate (*even better reheated in air fryer that makes cashew cheese base just reconstitute perfectly!). Added bonus for the ice cold craft Rootbeer in a glass bottle. If you want all the authentic flavours and textures of indulgent pub-grub but without the guilt or gluten, THIS is definitely the place! The last couple of times I ve eaten here it s been REALLY REALLY GOOD. Super yummy. The pasta was cooked so nicely, pizza was flavourful, wings perfect texture and really everything was all around a 10.

Absolutely delicious!! I m lactose intolerant so I eat a lot of vegan food and this is my go to place for pizza. Even my non-vegan really enjoy it! And that garlic aioli is to die for I could (and sometimes do) eat it by the spoonful! I always order a large tub to go and use it as dip and dressing at home

Is this the future of Canadian dive bars? Where the fact that its all vegan just doesnt seem to matter because the food is just plain excellent and youd have a hard time noticing if someone didnt tell you? The pizza, mac & cheese, and wings are all standouts. They have a cocktail menu and a selection of local brews. The prices will seem a bit on the high side for the pizza but they are also very filling. Only reason we cant give this place a five star review is the service. It wasnt good, it wasnt bad.... indifferent might be the best way to put it.

Such an amazing restaurant! The cheesy garlic bread was the best Ive had recently, vegan and non-vegan. The pizza was fab, crust baked to perfection and so many options for toppings. LOVE. New to hamilton and was sooo excited to try this place, as the menu looks great! I got the garlic pesto broccoli pizza with a side of deep fried pickles. Really enjoyed the pizza, the personal size was perfect for one person. I do wish it had some cheese on it and that the bacon was cooked longer. Deep fried pickles were the star of the show so crispy and flavourful. Another thing i noticed was that the garlic bbq dipping sauce was on the watery side but the flavour was amazing. Service was decent (6/10) and the atmosphere was awesome & memorable. Definitely on the pricey side but worth it! total for everything was around $38 Will definitely return to try the rest of the menu

Love the 90s vibe here. Weve had some great pizzas, and last time we took the bucket of chicken to go. The secret is, that chicken is ok fresh, but let it cool down and the texture and flavour makes it feel like kfc, pretty outstanding. Vegetarian options: Fully vegan and awesome

Delicious! Really enjoyed the honey garlic wings. Also got the cheeseburger pizza and kahuna pizza. The pineapple base for the kahuna was super interesting and pretty good! For both pizzas, the cheese felt a little too soggy/gooey and made it feel as if the dough was undercooked. However, the taste was still on point. The waitress was super sweet and came to our table often. The decorations inside were amazing! Great vibes. Vegetarian options: Everything is vegan!

Got a slice from them once. Not bad. Not Toronto quality but not bad. Also ordered a large pizza, wings and garlic bread for a get together recently to be delivered to my house. Pizza was excellent but sadly arrived lukewarm. Also never seen a pizza with so few green peppers. Another 30 cents in green peppers would have made all the difference. Garlic bread was also pretty good, but again lukewarm. Honey garlic wings were inedible. Horribly sweet. They tasted like dessert. Also their texture was a bit off. Again lacking Toronto quality.

Just discovered this place on the weekend. Great 80 s nostalgic atmosphere including working pinball machines. The food was excellent, portions were bigger than expected and pizza was really, really good. Great craft beer selection and lots of seating and space to move around. Pizza is very flavourful and reasonably priced. Wood fired. Friendly staff. Inside was very vibey. Cool pinball machines. Sauce was very good and although the crust was a bit dry (due to being Vegan I assume) I enjoyed it. Make sure to get a dipping sauce.

We are vegan foodies & Hamilton is his hometown so we always wanted to try this food since we learned about it! And it did not disappoint!!! Simply the BEST vegan wings I ve ever had and top notch pizza.

Amazing cheese sauce on their pizzas. Walk-in slice is one of the best deals in the city for a quick and filling dinner. The steel town and pepperoni pizzas are great. Wasnt a huge fan of the dill pickle pizza (way too salty for me), but thats why you have options.

The promise of a 100% vegan pizza is possible here with a great cost. We ordered two pizzas pepperoni and loaded pineapple. Both seemed great in description but it was extremely disappointing. The pepperoni arrived with a thick crust fully cooked on the outside and half cooked on the inside. The loaded pineapple was better but maintained the poor quality in pizza crust and in the cut of the slices. Not to mention the lack of taste in the cheese and sauce.

Great if you are vegan. As its all vegan. We bought a bucket of onion rings and a bucket of fries. $28 each. We were pretty excited when we saw the size of the bucket. Sadly, they fill the bottom half of the bucket with a plate, sideways. So youre really only getting half that bucket with food. Disappointing since we had 5 people and half the food we expected.

Rise Above is hands down the BEST vegan pizza in the GTA, we just enjoyed the pepperoni strikes back, and oh my goodness, if any vegan is missing a classic pepperoni pizza PLEASE order this 10/10 I will always come back to this absolute gemstone pizzeria

Every meat eater I know loved their seitan wings. As a vegan who lives out of town, I always look forward to coming here. Not many foods tastes as good as their maple garlic wings. Theyre sooooo good. I always get a bucket and there are never leftovers! As an Italian, their pizza Dough is amazing if you like thick crust. You can taste the attention to detail. The people who make the dough in the kitchen know what theyre doing. Their precision pays off. Def worth checking out.

Genuinely such amazing customer service. The kitchen ended up losing my chit for the order so they apologized right away & offered me a discount on my food for the inconvenience. That was definitely not necessary at all but the gesture was so kind. The seitan was also so delicious! 10/10 recommend this place. Love that they go above and beyond for their guests.

Im very happy this place is holding up vaccination requirements for dine in but thats where my happiness ends frankly. The food has gone downhill, the service is rude & condescending. The new owner is curt & brash and I just didnt feel comfortable paying high prices for okay food and a mean spirited experience. I read that the st. Catharines location is no longer associated and I can see why. I wont be back.

The wings. The pizza. The nugs. The dips. The sauces. I just If I weren t already romantically involved, I d be asking for Rise s hand in marriage.

Very inconsistent food, pizza is often undercooked and mushy, and chick n is often hard with a weird flavour. Very expensive (you aren t getting out paying less than $100 for two people), for such an inconsistent experience. I won t be going back.

Excellent food, good selection and good prices

Their seitan wings are nice and crispy on the outside, with some really great sauce choices. I especially enjoy the Sesame Ginger, and Maple Garlic flavours. The Fried Dill Pickles were so nice to enjoy seeing how often they are made with eggs in the batter at other restaurants. The BBQ Grilled Seitan pizza was a great choice with the wings. Just be aware that their cheese is nut-based, for those who may have an allergy. Next time, were giving the Bang Bang Broccoli pizza a go!

Best Vegan Wings. Ever. We had a large with two flavours - half sesame ginger and the other half maple garlic - and while the sesame ginger was delicious (its a zesty, creamy sauce), the maple garlic had that crunch and meatiness that you crave when you want wings. If you like honey garlic, their maple garlic is a MUST TRY. Prices are very reasonable. We also got a large pizza and we full after having one slice each (after splitting a large wings), so we had a boatload of pizza to take home and enjoy the next day. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Rise Aboves food blew me away. Ive had their takeout in the past, but I decided to dine in with some non-vegan friends who ended up loving the food. The maple garlic wings were fantastic and very close to the real thing! The pizza was great and the crust is the best!! The wait was a little long, but it was worth it. The aesthetic, decor and friendliness of the staff makes your experience very enjoyable.

Best vegan restaurant Ive ordered from. I dunno how they make seitan so chewy but they absolutely nail mouth feel and taste with there vegan chicken. Caesar salad was not overwhelmed by the dressing and the chips were fantastic. Ordering a sub, pizza and pasta tomorrow because I was so impressed. I dont order out very often but you got to try Rise Above

Excellent quality and variety! My husband loved the Philly cheesestake and the wings were SO good! Kids couldnt get enough chips! Theres something for everyone on the menu, whether you are vegan or not. And of course, the creativity that goes into the dish names are highly recommended!!

Service was slow but kind and attentive. We tried the seitan wings, Philly sub, and Steeltown pizza. The wings (maple garlic) were incredible, as was the sauce that came with it. The sandwich, not so much. The taste was quite lacklustre and underwhelming. The pizza dough and pepperoni was great, but I wasn t a huge fan of the bacony bits. Will probably be back to try the other wing flavours, and maybe will try a different pizza. The music playing was quite loud (not my taste but I m sure it s fine for others!) so maybe it ll be wings to go! :)

drove through hamilton on are way back from the falls just to try this pizza. we have been looking for a good vegan pizza for a year and couldnt find one we liked so we started making our own. well im hanging up my oven mitts and throwing away my apron, this is the only pizza i ever want to eat again. Uber eats is going to make some serious bank off me because i need it delivered to london!

Really good seitan wings and pizza. However, sandwiches are so lackluster and the Bacun in the BLT is like chewing on Jerky. Pasta dishes are bland and boring.

The pizza was so good!!! We had the gluten free crust, which was really yummy however, if you are celiac, be advised of the cross-contamination risk (seitan, etc.). Staff were knowledgeable and willing to accommodate, removing the seitan pepperoni and bacon and subbing veggies instead. I was a bit disappointed with the ceaser salad, as it was very basic. However the salad dressing was very yummy and it was still a refreshing side. Decent beer selection, $5 each which was a good deal. Beers on tap in addition to what was on the menu. Non-alcoholic as well as a small selection of cocktails available for order. Overall this place had a really cool vibe and the decor was awesome. The pizza prices were on the high end, even for vegan, but honestly it was so good and the personal was bigger than I expected. I ll definitely be back soon!

Terrible horrible place. I was trying to give them the second chance after the first occasion where they didnt allow us to stay inside, but this time my disappointment is over the moon. The order isnt ready on time, they got only one girl running around. The line is like ten ppl, and Im not sure its acceptable nowadays. Cant you find some more staff? Or maybe just give some better estimates? Didnt answer the phone either.. very disappointed. Not coming back for sure. The food isnt healthy anyways..

We stopped by this little gem, not knowing there was a pub crawl happening. The place was packed. We got a table, and had the most delicious Maple garlic wings. The pizzas were fantastic as well. I will surely have to come back. The staff were a delight.

I tried Rise Above for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it. We ordered the deep fried pickles as our starter, and they were delicious (the dipping sauce was super creamy and the pickles were crispy and hot). My dinner (pictured below) was the Bang Bang Broccoli personal 10 pizza. Homemade dough topped with a mildly spicy sauce, broccoli, grilled tofu, and tons of crispy fried onion, this pizza was incredible! I ate most of it at the restaurant and brought the rest home, and it was just as good the next day (the crispy onions even stayed crispy after being microwaved)! I loved the themed drink menu, and tried the Garfling, the non-alcoholic version of The Dark Crystal. The waitstaff were excellent (friendly, polite, attentive) and the restaurant was well-lit and clean. I fully intend to go back and try another dish (especially the desserts!) Vegetarian options: Rise Above is fully vegan! Parking: There is street parking along James St. and other municipal parking lots nearby Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu with 5 or 6 options

A delicious tapestry of pizza and wings options for those who like to eat vegan! While visiting some family and friends, pop by this Hamilton staple! They have awesome drinks, great selection and lots of options. The service was friendly and the place was clean. Loved the 80 s nostalgia vibes, exactly what I was looking for. You can stop by for a quick slice or order lots for a whole crew. Their bacon cheeseburger pizza hit the spot and was made just right! My friend Mo got into an argument with my buddy Rob Winnick about whether the wings were actually just real chicken. But rest assured, friends: it s all vegan! My buddy Mo was wrong. That s how tasty the vegan wings are!

Came two times here. Both times i got buffalo seitan sub. However, the last time it was extremely salty and overwhelming because of this, i would suggest to lower the sauce amount or less salt in it so it is better. Got loaded pineapple pizza, loved it but i guess i dont like having so many things on pizza like fake meat veggies and pineapple, would love pineapple cheese combo only tbh! Overall, it was great though. Sesame ginger slaw was meh, not for my taste.

Vegetarian options: The whole menu is meatless, and the triforce pasta is amazingly meaty and cheesy in flavour. I was very impressed. The ginger coleslaw is also very good. They also have a few tasty local things on tap. Dietary restrictions: Vegan menu, so milk free options as well as meat free and likely could have things left out if needed. They are very friendly and accommodating.

THIS FOOD IS AMAZING. The vegan pizza and wings taste better than regular pizza and wings. It s actually the best pizza and wings I ve ever had. Whoever makes this food is a genius.

Amazing interior theme with chill vibes. Restaurant is Vegan restaurant and it got lots of options for the pizza. They have really cool pinball machines. I have been there 5-6 times for Uber pickup and they always treats me well so I can say this place has good customer service. One day, I would like to visit this restaurant for Dine-in.

Loved the pesto pizza with broccoli and faux bacon bits. Delicious!

Hot tip: order the family combo!!! The wings are so good and should not be missed (of course the pizza is also great!) The wyld pineapple was my favourite and I m hoping they bring it back!

Got takeout so cant really comment on the service or atmosphere but our food was ready for pickup when we arrived. The seitan wings are an absolute must try, so good. Great texture and the sauce was really flavourful, the BBQ had a hint of spice, not too sweet and really paired well with the wings. The garlic dipping sauce is also incredible. Worth a try for sure if youre looking for a vegan wing alternative.

Not a substitute for your local pizza joint due to their not exactly low prices but a Good place foodwise. pretty expensive for pizza, vegan or not. The price of just one pizza here could get you two at some regular pizza place which might not be vegan but still plenty delicious. That being said if your just looking for a nice affordable pizza and wings night, this place wouldnt be my first choice for that. However it is a cool place to check out if you wanna try something new as they have some interesting pizzas and they are quite good but admittedly not pay more than regular pizza good just being honest. Their seitan wings are pretty great and worth a try.

Pretty good pizza. Im not vegan but Im always open to trying different foods and try my best to curb my meat eating. I popped in for a slice, they had pepperoni and a spicy mexican I believe it was. Went for the pep. Overall good and hit the spot for pizza craving for the most part. Due to it not being real cheese, it was more if a cheese like sauce. So its more creamy so for myself a bit more messy. The dough is pretty bready, and the type where I wouldnt eat the crust because its just nothing really special. Maybe some oil and spice on it would make it more of a treat at the end. Anyways, Id have again, prices are good, staff was friendly, established clean. Will order a fresh full one next time to try out.

On my only day off from the grueling federal campaign, I had my sights set on Rise Above for a few days. In the week leading up, I had explored some of the nearby vegan establishments on the Happy Cow app. I was delighted to discover the litany of plant-based options in the Hamilton area. It had seemed that Hamilton was perhaps in fact the vegan mecca of the golden Horseshoe. I did extensive research and was ultimately impressed by the offering of a plant-based substitute for the infamous wing. When the day finally came, I embarked on my journey in midafternoon. Being in dispossession of any motorized vehicle, the weather cooperated as I rode my bicycle 20 kilometres from my house at the top of Brant Street in Burlington. The entire journey a pedaled with a smile across my face, thinking about the delicious food I was going to have. I arrived minutes before they officially opened and was redeemed immediately. In all my years I have eaten countless vegan pizzas and vegan burgers, but the vegan wing had until this point escaped me. I ordered one order of seitan wings and waited outside while I read my book. By the time my food arrived, my previous thoughts were confirmed. There is simply nothing that plant-based can not do better than it s animal counterpart. The seitan wings were delectable. I decided to follow up with a slice of Pizza. Again, I was reminded of the glorious future that awaits all of us, as we transition our food system to be wholly plant derived. For a moment I glanced around and realized that this had been the peak of my life, culminating over 26 years. The best part about that realization, was understanding that it will only get better. I have lived 26 years before I encountered seitan wings. Now I get to live an eternity with them. I returned home that day with a profound sense of belonging. A few weeks later there had been a mixup, where I was bestowed the custody of my sister s CRV for one evening. Having ridden there by bicycle, I knew the way and travelled the same distance in a fraction of the time. I once again indulged in Seitan wings, Garlic bread and a slice of pizza. I have since been counting the days until I can return.

The food was so yummy, we forgot to take pictures! Heres our review. First off, there is so much more to this menu than vegan pizza. We tried the seitan wings - so tasty (even to the non vegans in our group) and the sauce was fabulous! The Philly cheesesteak was good as were the bucket of chips! My favorite was the pineapple pizza. The dough was delicious, sauce and pepperoni... Just the right mix of toppings and flavors. The vegan cheese on this pizza is so much better than other vegan cheeses weve tried. Overall, the food was fresh and delicious and well definitely be back

Tried their new Bang Bang Broccoli pizza, it was so good but very spicy ! Recommend to grab one of their ranch or garlic dips and have a drink handy lol The service is always super friendly and pizza was ready for when we ordered it. Their online ordering is very user friendly as well
