Murphy’s has its roots as a simple pub. Over the years it has transformed its look and gastronomic excellence to our present day polished casual appeal. We are the top rated restaurant in the area on Trip Advisor and many other rating sites and are proud to be recognized as such. It is nice to know that the public appreciates our commitment to culinary excellence.
This was our first visit and to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. We were impressed with the layout of the resturant and the library themed decorations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we found the food to be very good and priced reasonably. There is on street parking and it is handicapped accessable. There was a great mix of people too, from families with kids to young and older adults, all easily mixing together in a warm atmosphere. GO! If you found this review helpful, please tap on the thumbs up to let me know. Thanks!
Murphy's seems to rely on it's great location in Hanover for it's business. Twice in a row I have gone and paid a pretty decent price tag for very below average food (small quantities, stale fries, etc). It is disappointing because it has a good vibe, the food just doesn't match the space.
Safe spot to take parents or guests for good quality food of moderate portions that has something for a standard American dietitian and for a gourmet. Pub like atmosphere leaning restaurant.
Fantastic experience. My daughter is visiting from NZ and we are visiting family in the area and this was simply a wonderful treasure. Amy, our server was completely on point. Nigel the owner treated us like family. We enjoyed a delicious lobsta appetizer that complimented all of our wonderful dinners. And the dessert, well…Lets just say the chefs special…that mousse was sent from heaven, almost to pretty to eat but do…mouth joy… highly recommend.
We were visiting Hanover on a one night layover and read good reviews of Murphy's so gave it a shot. The restaurant is a quaint, small pub with a warm environment. The menu is pretty limited but we all found something we liked, namely the Murphy burger. The burger was good but it was odd that all three members of our party ordered the same thing, their namesake dish, but they got one of them wrong. They forgot the onions and signature sauce on one of the burgers. When we pointed it out the waitress didn't seem to believe us but did fix it. Overall the service was good but definitely not friendly or inviting. The waitress acted as if we were inconveniencing her when we asked about the incorrect dish or when we asked for another drink. Maybe she was having a bad day. The only other comment I have is on their beer selection. Definitely not the best. They had one local IPA and it was meh.
Always good food when we come visit my son at Dartmouth. Outdoor seating on a beautiful fall weekend. So many other people also brought their dogs with them. Had the sirloin burger. Similar to a smashburger burger, but less greasy. Place was busy, even at 2 o’clock. Reservations recommended. Wait staff was very friendly. Food ready quickly, less than 10 minutes wait time.
we go there almost every term and this year they started charging automatic 20% tip to a table larger than 5, and we were not aware of this ending up paying 40%… oh well. we went there again anyway, but plating and ingredients quality differed when we went there (it varies from time to time, not constant). Here is the pretty plating though✨ Foods are generally not salty/too greasy/too sweet, therefore might feel too blend, but I guess it’s healthier this way
Best dining experience I've had at Dartmouth. Ambiance is really nice, and my waiter was super friendly and attentive. Portion sizes are fair. The Murph Burger is the best burger I've had around Dartmouth! Meat is perfectly seasoned, cooked exactly how I requested (med-rare), and the toppings complement the meat well. Would highly recommend Murphy's if looking for good American food!
The new menu is amazing! The new duck Bao Buns are to die for and I couldnt get enough of the pasta options. Our server, Hayden, gave us such a good experience and the inside gave a relaxed and elegant vibe.
Just enjoyed another incredible meal at Murphys on the Green. New menu with some of the old standard fare as well. Worth the trip to Hanover.
Wonderful service, the food is spectacular!
Great place to hang with friends and meet new ones.
An excellent place to meet and greet others. Beverages and service were perfect.
Not great food
Love the fall menu. Fabulous mushroom risotto and herb chicken. Hot and creamy with perfectly grilled chicken.
Great place to eat! Meet new people! Owner is a gem.
Everyone in our party of four had enjoyed earlier experiences at Murphy s and we were looking forward to the meal that brought us together a few days ago. Unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The chicken wings with which we started were up to par, but the eggplant parmigiana, pappardelle vongole and cheeseburger were mediocre to poor. The eggplant was breaded (when it doesn t need to be) and bland. The pappardelle (flat noodles) which two of us had were poorly boiled, with an inedible clump of pasta that had cooked together. The restaurant was very quiet (early evening on a Monday in late August); it was clearly NOT the case that the kitchen was busy, which makes it all the more disappointing that our meals were so mediocre. The server, while well-intentioned, seemed poorly trained for his job (we had the impression that he was filling in for someone); he never removed used dishes until we asked him, he was not as familiar with the menu as one would normally expect a server to be. All in all a disappointment as we had had better experiences at Murphy s. An expensive disappointment at over $200 for four people.
2024 update: My daughter and I stopped in for a quick dinner recently, as I was in the mood for a good burger. We sat at a hightop table in the bar that was incredibly sticky. I asked a passing busser to wipe it down, which did not help. We moved two tables down and had the same problem. Apparently, the finish on the tabletops is wearing off or was not applied properly. It was so annoying that I put my cloth napkin down so my arm hair would not rip out every time I moved my arm. We waited 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and take our drink order. My Guinness draft was warm and flat, the worst I have ever tasted. I also learned that Murphys now only serves smash burgers, which are cooked well-done. The smash burger was good, except for the dregs of cold fries that came with it and the high price for such a thin pattied-burger. My daughters battered fish was good, but her fries were also cold. Our server forgot my side of coleslaw and insisted she would bring it even though I had already finished my burger. She also brought us the wrong takeout that I ordered for my wife, which I luckily caught. I expressed my frustration about the warm beer, missing coleslaw, and cold fries, so our server took them off the bill. Nice gesture, but it still does not make up for the poor experience. The manager walked by our table several times and never asked about my complaints. Overall, I was disappointed and will not go back. 2021 Review: Just tried their new street food menu. The Tijuana fries would have been good, but they were wayyyy too salty. The pulled pork tacos were terrible. The pork was bland and the pickled cabbage completely over powered the taco. My first thought after taking a bite was, has the chef actually tried these? Cabbage and pulled pork can be a great combination, but not with the amount of vinegar used here. The service was good, but the food was not. Murphys was one of the best spots in Hanover, but I would not recommend their new menu.
This is absolutely the most overrated, overpriced restaurant in Hanover. Staff have consistently been obnoxious. Menu is uninspired.
Nigel was very kind and funny. Great guy!
Nigel greeted us like family at the door. He stopped by our table several times throughout our meal and visited briefly! The waitress was very attentive and friendly! The meal was wonderful and their Chocolate Mousse was out of this world!
Foodies, this is a great place to eat! My husband and I were visiting the area for the weekend and enjoyed a great meal, friendly staff, great tvs and atmosphere. We tried the tuna ceviche, lobster salad, tagliatelle pesto, and a special - rainbow trout. We loved them all. For dessert, we shared the affogato with coconut ice cream with chocolate chips. Deeeeelish!! Well be back next time we are in the area.
Ice tea was sent back by 3 of us to start. Seafood risotto was a joke but more importantly horrible. Hamburger was OK but very thin. Chicken sandwich was OK.
A good place to meet for drinks
Didnt have any food. Only drinks after dinner.
Had the seafood risotto, it was fantastic. Had a server named Amita I believe and they were terrific. Great good, great service, I d go again in a heartbeat.
Poor service, mediocre food
Great place for after hours drinks and socializing. The bartenders are kind and offer great service. The music variety is diverse and the aura welcoming.
Great little cafe, loved the burger and fries. Service was great!
Always fantastic food. An upscale pub keeping the great Irish vibe.
bad experience. zero starts. it took the food 45 min to come out. food tastes differently than a year ago. billed incorrectly. will not be back.
Murphys has fallen a long way, unfortunately. We took friends from out of town for dinner. Had a 7pm reservation and got seated in the crowded/hot back room. Didnt receive our first drinks until 7:45. They had a good selection of beers/rotating drafts, yet our server said there werent any rotating taps... We did not get to order our entrées until well over an hour in, which was not by choice. Our entrees didnt come out until about the 2 hour mark, at which point we decided to have them to go since it was 9pm. They at least compd us one of the entrees for the trouble. Three of us had the chicken sandwich which is still good, though they forgot the sauce on one. Another got the thai kale salad with chicken which was dismal. See pic below (thats the whole salad).
Our experience was horrible at this place. I would leave no stars if I could. The hostess did not let us eat there with our service dog. By law a service dog should not be denied entry. She told us only hearing imparted service dogs were allowed. That is ridiculous. She was rude and unyielding. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The wings were dry and tasteless and the fries were limp. Our server was fun and pleasant.
Popular spot in a college town. Visited on a Friday night that was busy. Wait staf was challenged by multille big groups present at the same time. Very busy place! Crowded dining, crowded bar. Food was average. Menu was okay - tough for a vegtarian. Drinks were good. Beer selection could have been more local (vs state or regionally focused). I would try it again - maybe not on a Friday. Great vibe. Vegetarian options: Not many!
Very limited menu and unkind staff. We were put in a corner by a very unfriendly waitress. Dinner took more than an hour to be served and it was so plain and tasteless. Dietary restrictions: The dinner menu was so limited
Quality food at a reasonable price. Service was prompt and professional and owner was working hard to make sure guests were satisfied. Overall an enjoyable, quality, casual dinner.
Great service and atmosphere meatloaf was amazing
Three stars is being generous. Service was good. Food was gross. The worst was the fries. Cold, limp and unappetizing. They were so bad that it was hard to enjoy anything else. My friend got the filet and was equally disappointed. The green house salad was the only thing on our table that was satisfactory.
We ve been eating at Murphy s, on and off, for several years. Usually, I d rate it a grade B restaurant, but the meal I had there last night was so bad, I won t go back. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare. Half of the meat was cooked medium, the other half was crucified think shoe leather. I also got two pieces of scraggly, over cooked broccoli rab. I subbed fries for the au gratin potatoes. They were also over cooked. I showed the waitress, who apologized but did nothing. They should have, at least, comped us a dessert. Oh well. It was an inedible waste of $35. Beware if you choose to eat here. Check your meal before digging, and ask to see the owner, who is usually there, if it doesn t come the way you want.
Great place! Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. The owner is a kick.
Great food, great people.
We were visiting from Florida, Murph was very friendly, and engaging, sharing information about his family and other attractions to visit. He told us his food was very good and me and my spouse gladly agree. We had the wings, the chicken sandwhich and the sirloin burger. Yummy!!!
Five stars for the server, one star for chef, no star for the manager. They claimed that this place is somewhat related to Tuck School but the food quality is just off even compared to Tuck Dining Hall. There is no appetizer below $10 and all regular main courses are around $30. At this level I expected something better than a plate of stinky watery risotto. The server was taking good care of me and brought the manager immediately after I reported that the food (mussels I had) stinks. However what stinks more is the manager, he seemed like he went through something really bad today. He came to me and like the mussels were fresh and handpicked. I asked him to simply smell them himself and I think he didnt do that. He probably shouldnt because its the worst smell Ive ever had in a dish (while being a big seafood guy). He never apologized and offered no solutions. Its just he seemed so sad today and didnt have the mood or time to talk to me or solve any problems. I left no tip, apologies but I couldnt.
Nice atmosphere! Food and service were okay. A little pricey for what you get.
Meatloaf was very tasty.
Not a great experience. We were traveling through the area and saw this restaurant and thought we would give it a try. We immediately regretted it. I am pretty easy to please, however the meals that my partner and I had were absolutely disgusting. The rice tasted as if it was made from a bag. The seafood had very little taste to it and was overcooked. To make matters worse, the server never stopped over once to ask how things were going. When she brought the bill we told her the meals were short of horrible to which she said, sorry to hear that and walked away. The atmosphere looked inviting and the other workers were running around to keep up, however the overall vibe of the place was that they were overwhelmed. As another reviewer wrote, please do yourself a favor and find a new chef.
My wife got the fish and chips. It was perfectly cooked, which I know is hard to do with large pieces of fried fish, but they mastered it! I got the Murphy burger, and it was a solid burger. Outlr waitress was awesome and helped us find some local places to try out. The place was a little busy, but I was still able to get a seat right away, and the food was quick. Parking: Paid street parking from 8-5. Parking is free after 5PM
Very solid menu and the chicken sandwich was clutch. My kids enjoyed the burgers and sweet potato fries.
It is a pub type feel and decor. The food was good, service was fast and friendly
Awesome find!! Risotto was a bit crunchy, but the shrimp and fresh salsa saved the dish. Server and dessert were top-notch
I came in on a Wednesday during parents week, which was busier than a typical Wednesday, according to the staff. I got the salmon risotto, which I was hoping would be good, but I was blown away. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the risotto was more impressive as it was cooked to the perfect al dente, with just a slight pop to the risotto. It was by far the best Ive ever had, by far. I had to give kudos to the kitchen staff because it was that good. They told me that theyve been working on it for quite a while and they were very pleased to hear that they nailed it. To top it off, the bartender, Amita, was exceptional as well. Positive energy all around, and the overall experience makes me want to come back on Wednesday nights when its quieter much more often. Ive been to Murphys many times in the past, but theyve really raised the bar in my opinion. They were really good before, but I think Ive found my new favorite place.
We ve traveled across the US from Oregon to Maine to Charselton SC. Our server Zach was the best we ve had, personable, entertaining, and provided great service. Loved sitting out on Main St.
Took a while to even be acknowledged waiting for a table. Mac and cheese was 24.00 absolutely flavorless, small portion. Our drink ware had lip smudges all over them and none of us had any lip products on.
Very attentive service, first time here and pleasantly surprised. Tried the Walnut Stuffed Acorn Squash, very tasty !
Ownership and staff, friendly and accommodating.
Excellent all around! Happy hour..... $3 craft beer drafts!!! Unheard of these days. Food
Irish Pub in appearance and bar offerings only. Food menu was American bar food and had two items that would be traditional Irish fare but, the stew fell short on tastes and ingredients. The burger and fries and pulled pork sammy were good. Buffalo wings appeared popular at adjacent tables.
This place was absolutely amazing from the service to the food, from A-Z. Come on now. We will definitely be back
Good place for a quick bite and a glass of wine .
Great service by hostess and server (Izzy) and great food! Thank you for accommodating our party of 11 and everything being delicious!
Great service, hamburger are really good!
The best bar in Hanover or upper valley. Bartenders are top notch. Izzy is the one who you wanna go to. She knows her stuff and can chat you up right. Talk to the manager Tyler and he will help anyway he can to make your experience better.
Killer bar food, see esp nachos and wings, burgers; but dont be fooled, this kitchen also turns out top dishes including Statler Chicken, Fish n Chips, and Sirloin Tips. Thanks Keith (aka Lefty) and bartendress Isy.
Unfortunately very disappointing. We had a party of 20 with very little good food . Burgers undercooked; salmon portion very small; couscous bland and watery; chicken sandwich, beet salad, egg rolls good. Wait staff kept forgetting items. Too $$$ for the quality
If I could give zero stars I would. Very unfortunate that an hour after placing our order for delivery they never called to discuss some discrepancies in the order (ran out of Thai noodles, etc) because, as the manager said, they had another party to take care of, and therefore never even bothered to start any part of our order! Didn t even offer an apology, just excuses. If I hadn t called to check on our order status we would have not had time to make something for our 8 yo son before bedtime. Very disappointed in our attempt to try a new restaurant.
Food was delish! Bartender was chatty and never let my glass go empty long If your in Hanover make it a must stop for apps and large selection of local beers
Went in just for drinks. Host could not have been nicer. The server also approached us with a sense of humor and efficient service. The drinks were well made. The atmosphere was perfect. Good time was had by all.
Decent food for Hanover, and attentive service. Dined here recently with a friend from Dublin who objected to the hovering waitress: In Ireland someone would have told her by now to go away and not come back. But to me it wasnt over the top. Good beer selection. Full bar with friendly bartenders. Good food.
The new chef is stellar. Murphy s was good before but it s on a whole new level now! Great food, great service, great environment, and the owner is a great guy.
A creative chef, enthusiastic staff, and fun environment make this an enjoyable experience
Great atmosphere.
I invite all tourists who visit New Hampshire, especially Hanover to the best restaurant in the United States, the best food and drink visiting them is the best experience,,,, greetings from Ecuador I am Diego Romero former worker of murphys on the green good bless mister Nigel and family
Beer is good, but wouldnt go for the food. Service is slow and the food is mediocre.
Great pub!
Went to Murphys on a beautiful summer day. The host and waiter were very friendly and seated us in their outdoor seating area on the street. Great for people watching and absorbing the vibe of Hanover. Ordering two selections from their main dishes menu: fish & chips and polenta cakes with grilled shrimp. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared however the portion was definitely under sized for a main course offering. Its a shame that such good food in a great location should be dragged down by limited portion size.
I was not impressed. The bartender would not make one of the special drinks on menu. No idea why. Ordered brisket special and 90% of it was fat so only was able to eat one thin slice. Overall it was very disappointing.
A totally awesome late afternoon lunch where the owner told us great stories about the town, food was great, and you could imagine visiting if your kid went to school there. 10 of 10 experience!!!
We were visiting the area and decided to get something to eat. Lots of people were dining outside so we stopped there. We were seated inside. Dark interior, lots of wood. I wasnt a fan of the bathroom location, downstairs. We ordered burgers and fish and chips. The burgers were cooked to the correct temp and were tasty. The fish was a bit bland though. The server was too new to be alone. Very green and not entirely knowledgeable.
Food was great, owner was a great guy. Really enjoyed our time there. Definitely worth the stop.
Great little dive in the middle of hanover
Menu variety and restaurant ambience was great. The same can t be said about the actual food and service. We were only able to eat half the Donegal mussels; the other half would not open/were dead. When I raised the issue with my waiter, I barely received acknowledgment that this was not okay. The rest of the night it seemed the waiter was avoiding our table as much as possible. Not one Do you need another drink? or how s the entree? The steak with wine sauce was terrible. It was served in a soup bowl with essentially seasoned red wine covering the entire steak. Salmon was okay, but the sides were not what was ordered. Overall an unsatisfactory experience.
I ve been going, here ever since I was a kid. And got say the food is the best
Yummy brussel sprouts!
Very disappointed! Ordered fish and chips. ..got one small fish with barely any fries or coleslaw....cost me $20! Plus ordered dessert which took 30 minutes to get! I will never return!
Stopped in for a quick meal without a reservation. We were nicely greeted and comfortably seated within a minute. The beef stew was amazing as was the Napoleon Steak. Cocktails were delicious, and our server, Melissa, was welcoming, friendly, and on top of her game. A very nice place with a friendly and vibrant atmosphere, yet with a comfortable volume for dining
The bartender made the best old fashioneds we have had in a long time! The brussel sprouts were delicious! Our main courses were just okay but better than most places. The apple crisp we returned because it was burnt but they took it off the bill
A great place for a Sunday lunch. Great food and staff what more could you want?
Fantastic place great food (highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich) & even better atmosphere! A must visit if you re only in the area for a short time.
Best fried chicken sandwich in New Hampshire hands down
We were traveling through NH on our way home for the holidays and grabbed some takeout from Murphy s. Wow. The Fried Chicken Sandwich and Wings traveled great, and tasted fresh as could be. The servers were extremely polite and appreciative. Will definitely stop in again.
Big wings guy and these are the real deal. Great size and sauce. They ve become my go to in the area!
The best spot in NH for wings! Im always searching for tasty calamari and this place definitely does the trick! There is a great beer selection . Servers are polite and this place is always clean. Nice atmosphere that makes for an easy afternoon. Highly recommend!
Great food, great atmosphere, great times. Favorite place to go to in Hanover when visiting
I ve got family in Hanover and every year we visit from the Midwest for the holidays and I always make my cousins drive me up to Murphy s so I can devour some of the best wings I ve ever had. Usually you can only find this quality in Bills country but who would have thought that my need to escape my Quaker cousins for a cold beer during the holidays would lead me to find the best and most delicious holiday tradition I have. Thanks Murphy s, keep it up
This place has amazing fresh fish tacos! I went here with my girlfriends for a girls night out and it did not disappoint! So many lovely cocktails to choose from. When we told the staff that Busberg sent us we were served a free round of drinks! Such hospitality! Our favorite restaurant in Hanover!
Had an incredible evening here. Next time we re in NH it ll be a must visit! Great food, people and environment!
Must stop every time I m in town visiting family! Wings were incredible and the calamari is an absolute must. Great service to top it all off!
Amazing food and beer, best restaurant in Hanover for quality products and even better atmosphere. A must visit in Hanover
The drinks here are really good. Food is hit or miss, especially with meats. I had a pretty dry steak and dry burger on two separate occasions. Macaroni and cheese was amazing once, and gross every time after (so many bread crumbs and it was flavorless). The desserts are always great. Its a nice bar like atmosphere, upscale in its own way but casual. The service is usually good.
Its back open with an all new menu
This is the Meatloaf - and let me tell you, it was GOOOOOOOD! #highlyrecommended
Great management!
Awesome. Do it
Great take out and good spirits!
Good food. Very nice, friendly staff. Timely service. Outdoor seating available. Reservations are accepted.
Surprisingly good dishes
Food was good, nice selection of craft beers, service was great!
Fish tacos were amazing, but burger was dry. Mac and cheese not very cheesey. Mixed drinks had too much ice and werent very strong. On the upside the atmosphere was very nice.
Unlike past experiences, we waited 25 minutes tonight to be served our first round of drinks. This may be due to the owner opening a second location in town and Murphy s may be currently short staffed. I expect this will be corrected in the near future.
good classic pub food, good beer selection, gets very busy
Terrific food great service
First time getting take out from Murphy s. Ordering easy, efficient order was complete and pick up was quick and easy. Fried chicken sandwich, calamari, mac&cheese, Caesar salad all good. The one exception..the potato leek soup..which was simply inedible..horrid color, horrid flavor not even close to a potato leek soup and the recipe should be changed immediately..we threw out our two servings immediately Would still come back in spite of this!
Great food and service! The place feels like a classic Irish pub.
I went to Murphys with my girlfriend and her parents traveling through NH and we had a truly great experience. Our server was named Ty and he took great care of us. Everything we ordered was fantastic - the drinks, the appetizers, and the entrees were all savory and delicious. I highly recommend visiting Murphys if youre in the area!
Great food including some creative cuisine as well as old time favs. Fair beer selection and a few craft cocktails will have you happy. We tried a few things, highlighting the fried chx sandwich and the chx and rice. Both were delicious. Bonus with the Mac n cheese as a side! No room for anything else. Staff was 5 star.
The Murphy burger was so good that I wanted another one when I finished. Super friendly service and great atmosphere!
I often hear the Dartmouth intellects discussing, to go or not to go to Murphy s? I always tell them, drop the Shakespeare and listen to Darwin. Darwin said and I quote, The loss of these tastes is a loss of happiness, and may possibly be injurious to the intellect, and more probably to the moral character. By this he means if you do not eat hand cut fries alongside a Murphy s Burger today, you re absolutely screwed. Survival of the fittest baby. Good luck out there.
The girl who answers the phone, is literally the rudest person Ive ever talked to over the phone. I waited on hold 15 min on a Tuesday night for her to answer and hang up. I called back and she was laughing at me when I asked if she was that busy. I wanted to order the short rib to which they didnt have of course. When I said ok thanks anyway she said bah-beyyyyyit. Who do you think you are? And how do you have a job?
Beeg Mac. And cheese.
They seriously need to get a chef in there. I am very easy to please. Man was this a disappointing disaster. Fish and chips.: youd think for the $$ youd get a nuce pice of fish. The tiny pieces that were placed over the greasiest cold and mostly burnt fries and cole slaw that looked good but tasted like a salt shaker fell over in it, fish was fresh and filled the fork twice. As for the other two dishes that were ordered: chicken with rice came in a bowl and was all mooshy and like pasty oatmeal. The othe was a. Curry dish with rice and was just like the rice and chicken dish. The waitress was nice enough and bubbly. When she gave us the check, she said: you guys were so delightful. We saw her when she took the order, that took almost 40 min. to reach the table. Then we saw her again with the bill, when she said: I hope you guys come back real soon. Seriously!!!!!!! We were all very disappointed! This is a tourist trap!!!! Through and through and they use Dartmouth Green as their pull. Almost $100 dollars two bowl of rice greasy fries and saly coleslaw. Live and learn. Murphys on the green. May have been good before but they suck these days. 1st time I have ever given a review of place. But I compelled by this place and feel really ripped off.
The food was good and the cocktails were excellent
Great place, good book choices, random knick knacks, and beer on tap. Closes early but definitely worth the visit. The pastries they serve are creative and delicious
Best chicken sandwich I ever had, at least recently. Waiters were all really friendly and service was really fast. Would definitely go back if ever in the area again.
Usually pretty good, hope the new menu comes along.
Excellent service but pork chop undercooked, I feel bad about this review, our waiter was excellent, I left on the dish almost one pork chop all pink and red. Pork suppose to be cook well.
Good food and ambiance. I like their inner sitting area is surrounded by books around the table so you will feel like it s the library.
Pulled pork was very dry with no sauce....disappointing
We loved our dinners. The nachos were next level! Seriously haven t had nachos that level before, a must try.
Ate at Murphy s with our daughter and some of her friends - 6 people. I asked for a quieter table and they gave up this terrific table in a very quiet nook - perfect! Menu was big enough to satisfy the meat-eaters and vegetarians alike! Also, good for sharing. Our waiter was Christina R. and she was friendly, knew the menu, paced the delivery of plates very well. Service like hers makes the dining experience that much better! We ll be back!
Great friendly service, good food and beer selection. Fun atmosphere.
Good bartender... A little confusion on whonwaa our server... But it all workes out. Good stop pre-ballgame.
I travel around to a lot of places! I had the best burger here!
Decent food and atmosphere but very lacking in service. Was told by the waiter who was helping our group that we should find a way to share what was clearly a serving for one while charged for several. He refused to come back until the end when he told us to leave him a big tip since he bothered to show up to work. Used to frequent when I was an undergrad and was looking forward to stomping the old grounds but this experience was sour.
Ive visited Hanover only a handful of times, but every time we have to go to Murphys. Its a great spot to enjoy a selection of beers, and always has a great menu that (I think) rotates regularly. Highly recommend the Chicken Sandwich, with the Mac on the side!
Ordered take out. We arrived when we were told the food would be ready. It was luke warm when we picked it up. Portions are embarrassingly small considering the price they charge, seriously $50.00 bucks for 2 entrees which were the size of appetizers. Food wasnt good either, very bland which they tried to cover up with way too much salt. Will not be ordering from here again.
What is going on with the servers here??? They are a delight, Ive only been twice but each time I feel like Im hanging out with happy people
Nice nachos
This place is fantastic! Sandwiches are huge and quality is high! There generously portioned Lobster Club is well worth the $18. Even the kids meals are really great. The Mac & Cheese is awesome too.
Great food, Helpful staff, Great atmosphere.
Noisy bar on Saturday night, but thats pretty expected in a college town. We sat in a window seat that was nice, but theres only 1. Server was attentive and friendly. The menu was extremely limited and the drinks were very small for the price. The food was good, though unimaginative. It was open late so we could go after a show which was nice in this early closing area.
My friend Mike told to me to stop by and try the food and the drink Murphys makes with his bourbon, it is called Cinnamon girl BOTH ARE INCREDIBLE!!
Fire Flames
Solid pub, excellent craft beer selection.
This place is very cute. I went on an early Sunday afternoon just for a quick drink and salad before meeting someone in Norwich, VT (a mile away) and it was great. Looks like it would definitely fill up quick, as its kind of small, so I would make reservations on opentable if you want to go at a prime time. They have a really great bourbon selection.
Good food and highly entertaining service.
Very friendly service, upbeat atmosphere. Food was good.
Good food with diverse menu options. Nice ambiance and good location in town. Nice beer selection.
Excellent pub atmosphere; service was great but it was not stressed by a crowd. Extensive drink menu with the only down side being the expensive (bar) food.
The Murph burger is incredible. Best burger Ive had in a long time.
Jennie was such a nice hostess, very congenial service and checked in frequently
Great service. Helpful recommendations.
Great food.
I love food!
Great spot including for veggie options
Trying hard during the restart after the pandemic.
Just had an excellent date night experience at Murphy s. The service and food were both excellent!
Fantastic lunch and service! Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, dropped the pickles and added BACON. DELICIOUS
Excellent burger. Really, really good. But expensive! Great service, too!
Great burger! Dessert is great too. Just wished they had Murphys on draught.
Maz was a wonderful waitress, great food good vibes come thru
Very good service and food. Excellent wings, pork was meh, salmon portion was very good, but small. Great pub vibe and very good but inconsistent service.
I wished it had more food options, but we what ordered was really good!!!
The enchiladas here are delicious but they dont automatically come with corn chips which is a must and should be requested. If you get Freddy as your server then your truly in luck! He is pleasant and very accommodating and will provide top class service!
Murphys has quality food and a good bar. Its on the pricier side and quite busy, hence waiting times may be long on weekends
The most iconic restaurant in Hanover. Great food. Incredible atmosphere. Superb draft list.
Murphy s On The Green may be considered the college bar in the downtown for late nights, but the Saturday we were there was anything but. The menu was huge and delicious. Enjoyed calamari and pulled pork tacos that were reasonably priced and delicious. Our server, Laura was professional, kind and very efficient. It has a great décor as well. You gotta try this place!
Great flavor profiles, excellent cocktail menu and great vibe!
Sat in the bay, view of the green. Tasty burger an beer - just what youd expect!

Loved the food my sister and I stayed for 4 hours eating and chatting. Simon was our server and he was fantastic. My sister and I are gluten-free and they were incredibly accommodating. they had a gluten-free menu and were happy to substitute replacements for items we couldnt eat. Were both foodies and this definitely fit the bill. Order the mussels frites, you could take a bath in the sauce its so good. Excellent drinks too. Bottom line, head here, its amazing
