46 Stapleton Rd, Hillier, ON K0K 2J0, Canada
Our property is 50 acres and the vineyard spans ten acres; growing Gamay, Vidal and Baco Noir grapes. Visible from Loyalist Parkway (Hwy33), the centerpiece of our property is a beautifully restored 160-year-old barn transformed into our winery, tasting room, special occasions room, and retail store
Best winery ever! Woody made the experience so amazing. He was so accommodating and dealt with a group of 8 girls not only with tolerance but with patience and going the extra mile! Woody is awesome!
We went on a quiet Sunday and had pretty much the whole place to ourselves. Patio outside is so beautiful and serene, great atmosphere and so relaxing. The server was very knowledgeable and friendly, great service. The wines were delicious and well priced. Would absolutely come back!
Beautiful place, lovely decor, free parking, very friendly staff, and best of all, the wines we tasted were superb!!! Purchased two bottles of our favourites. Will be going back the next time we're in Prince Edward County!
Beautiful outdoor space. Lots of seating. We had wood fire pizza, expensive but the norm around here. Staff were awesome.
We had such a lovely experience today at Hillier Creek Estates Winery. Daniel was such a fantastic host and the wines we tasted were all delicious. My favourite was the rose. Go and check them out - you won’t be disappointed!!
Wonderful place to spend your time! Beautiful view, delicious pizza and great flavor of pinot noir wine. Plus, excellent service by a kind and smiley server gave my family great time!!
Hillier is one of the longest running wineries in Price Edward County. The estate grounds are beautiful and their wine is superb!! The Roses are delicious. Enjoy a tasting or a glass in their back patio. 👍☺️
This winery not only produces great wines, but also it is one of the most astonishingly beautiful wineries that you can visit in Prince Edward County. 50 acres of property, a rustic 160 old barn, and they have a patio overlooking a creek - the ambience is just so perfect! Also, if you drop by to try the wines - order their pizza too!! It is incredible!!!
Nice place, good wines and atmosphere.
Liked their late harvest wine
Good wines, I loved them. Great price and delicious pizza. The place is beautiful, loved very much.
This place is one of our new favorite winnerys to visit. They have an excellent selection.
WOW! what a place beautiful, peaceful, and perhaps the best Pizza Ive ever had. complements to the chef
A great experience in a beautiful setting!Very friendly staff. Liked their wines. It was a bit too early for pizza when we were there but I have been told its quite good.
Try to get here before they retire! The wines are excellent and sellout price is a bonus. The wood fired pizzas are lights out!
Impeccable service. I really liked the wines I tasted and the staff were really charming!
Amazing experience. Go on Saturday just for Alison. Will be back.
The ambiance is awesome, the pizza is delicious. Leonardo makes the best pizza in the County.
Amazing way to start a weekend getaway trip! Atmosphere: Quaint, Quiet, Rustic, Natural, Homey The back patio is absolutely lovely Favorites: Red Velvet - Full Bodied 202 Gamay Noir - Lighter Mystery - Similar to summer breeze, sweeter drinkable white
We just had a wonderful experience at Hillier Creek Estates Winery. The winery itself is very scenic and serene and the tasting experience was enjoyable and informative. Lydia was very welcoming and helped us choose several varieties to buy. We hope to return one day!
I wanted to like this place, they have a lovely patio in the back. My issue is the employee doesn t know anything about the wine. I had a few (simple) questions and, she was unable to answer them. Questions were: Is everything oaked / what isn t, and, what has the fewest sulphites? She didn t know the answer to either of these questions so, I guessed at what I may not have an allergic reaction to. I would have left but, we wanted to try / buy some wine because of the name Hillier Over the weekend we visited 5 wineries. This was the only place where the employee could not answer my questions . Her response was I don t know, I only work here . When I looked at her puzzled she responded in all seriousness I don t know. It was a disappointment for sure. My partner and I shared a flight, I barely had any as I was worried I d have a reaction (my mouth was itchy at one point). I don t see us coming back. My recommendation to the estate - ensure your staff are happy to be there and, know about the product they are giving out.
Once again a fantastic time was had by all. Delicious wine and pizza! Thanks Amber and Kemp
Amazing pizza, amazing wines, very friendly staff. Gorgeous estate.
Went for a wine and pizza tasting last week with a friend! This was definitely the best place in the county! Have to go back to the area this week for business, you better believe im going back. Best pizza in the county! Great wine! Great service!
Excellent staff that took the time to explain all the wines and make great suggests based on likes and dislikes. A must visit when in prince edward county.
Lovely winery and lovelier people. The pizzas were great too! You have to try their Vidal gold and their summer breeze
Good wines and good value for money, the tasting is also affordable. The only disadvantage is that the chairs are 100% uncomfortable. A cushion should be added.
Super pretty winery with a lovely reserved spot for us under a big shade tree. The wines were excellent and it was hard to choose which was the favourite of our group. Our service was quick and very friendly. Good place to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. Thanks Hillier Creek.
Great wine and amazing pizza served up by fantastic staff.
Winery was nice but service was somewhat lacking. We were given our samples then left alone with no interaction from the staff. Wine sample were tasty.
lovely winery, great pizza and service
Staff Unfriendly and seemed like they really didn t want to be working. Pizza was undercooked and soggy. They are also not checking Vaccine passports. Would not recommend anyone to this winery.
Unfortunately, this was not a great experience. Upon arriving we overheard several guests walking out saying the staff were rude - this was immediately a red flag. When we arrived at the door we waited several minutes without being greeted (although the staff did see us waiting outside the entrance/guest podium). There was no communication acknowledging we were there and that someone would be with us shortly. While observing the staff we also noticed they were visibly flustered, disorganized, and overall annoyed. Despite that fact there was minimal traffic in the winery. I would HIGHLY recommend that you take the time to train your staff & onboard them. Theres nothing more disappointing than arriving at a winery, only to be welcomed by unprofessional staff who seem irritated by the fact that people are coming to visit for a great winery experience. We will not be returning.
My family and I attended this winery based on a telephone call earlier in the day wherein we were promised wine tours were available. Upon arrival, we were advised no tours were available due to a staffing shortage. Okay, so we travelled 30 minutes and thought at least we can taste wine and eat pizza. Terribly disappointed with the staff, the wine tasting experience and the pizza. While we have an open mind and were initially sympathetic to the staff being hurried, we soon realized the staffing shortage was really only a poor excuse for treating clients rudely. For starters, one menu for five people is ridiculous. Providing one ounce of wine in one glass for four adults to share is unconscionable in 2021. Charging $20 for an eight slice pizza that is thinner than a tortilla is gouging. Providing no plates for your guests who are sharing the pizza is simply lazy. I could gone on but I believe the point is...go to another winery.
We stopped in this past weekend for some tastings and a pizza and had such a wonderful time! I would not consider myself well versed in wine tasting but I appreciated the knowledge and friendliness of our server Linda who gave excellent recommendations and pairing options for us. We had a really great experience here, I learned some really great tips, and everything tasted amazing! I definitely recommend this spot!!
Spent a beautiful Friday afternoon on the patio at Hillier Creek Estates. Service, wine and pizza was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they offer. Enjoyed tasting several different options while sharing some delicious wood fired pizza. We have visited this winery several times over the past years and will definitely be back!
Amazing beautiful property. Loved the wines we tasted. Will definitely return for more dose of awesome
We sat and waited for our tasting for 20 minutes after ordering. Ended up leaving, poor service. Cant comment on the wine as we never got a chance to try it.
I was there with 2 friends on Friday July 3. Although I have been there many times, it was the first for my friends. We had wine and pizza on the patio. The service was excellent, pizza outstanding. This has always been my favourite winery. Thank you
Very nice Winery. Reasonably priced and good wine. The added bonus is they have two very cute dogs as their mascot.
My wife and I had such an amazing time at Hillier Creek Estates Winery :) They have a beautiful property and their wine and pizza are amazing!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway to the county :)
Lovely winery. Katie at the front was very helpful & has a great sense of humor
Amazing setting with a beautiful outdoor sitting area. Delicious wood fired pizzas. And Delicious choices of wines. Friendly service resulted in us staying for 3 hours. Definitely going here again.
Excellent service and knowledge staff.
Was refused at the door by a very unfriendly individual, while barking at another employee to not let us in. Understandable it is busy, you dont have to make guests like we are not invited back in the future.
Great atmosphere and service.
Great wine, great atmosphere and great service! I will definitely be coming back to Hillier!
Today was our last visit for the season to have wine and pizza on the patio. As always the staff are wonderful! Enjoyed some tastings (new wine blend and a new delectable bubbly - sadly only available on the patio) and really enjoyed the flavourful pizzas! Particularly good crust today! Pre-covid, this was a fave place to sit with a glass of wine in the cool of the patio with the sounds of the creek and the birds in the trees...so peaceful . Have mostly stayed away this season with only a couple visits. The staff are visibly doing a great job keeping up with sanitizing. The servers are great and as always super friendly and knowledgeable. The pizza cook is also fabulous! Hope all have a great autumn and winter. See you next season. Cheers!
Lovely area. Enjoyed a nice tasting and found a type we liked
Friendly staff, good wine. Very casual, nice folks. Hope the new owners continue the great service these folks provide.
First stop on our wine tour, and we enjoyed it so much that we had to go back the next day to pick up a few more bottles. We got to taste their delicious wine while having a tour with Woody. Very welcoming staff, and Woody is a knowledgeable and funny tour guide. Would definitely recommend checking them out!
Loved it. Conveniently located, not too far from Hwy 401. Beautifully maintained grounds. Clear view of the grape vines growing near the main building. Tours offered, $25 per person. Wine tasting $5. Free with wine purchase. Barrel Aged Chardonnay at $35 was great from the perspective of a whisky enthusiast. Pizza available.
My wife and I stop in as much as possible when were visiting the county. Theyre always very friendly and accommodating, and the grounds are beautiful. Make sure to try their wood fire pizza too!
Decent service, decent wines. Nothing that stood out overall.
This was our first stop, as its one of the first wineries. The service was good (hence the 2 stars), wines were okay and the pizza was very over-priced for what it was and we had to wait 40 minutes for us. Much better wineries in the area ie. Stanners and Kent-He were our favourites!
Good service, not so good wine. Sorry
Very friendly staff, good pizza and fin tasting wine. Great Sunday lunch.
Reasonable
Fiona was friendly and extremely accommodating. Picked up 4 bottles
Do yourself a favor and order the pizza with the beef, cheese and tomato. Im not normally a fan of fancy artisan pizzas, but this was the best wood fire pizza Ive ever had. Pleasant shaded back patio as well. Nice place for sure.
Great staff and a beautiful atmosphere. The pizza and wine are amazing
We have been here twice now and both times we enjoyed the laid back somewhat European atmosphere. We really like the pizza from the wood oven. They are nice and thin and with a nice white wine (although one should really drink beer with pizza, Italians told me) , life feels good on the patio.
A super dog friendly place including the patio with a wood burning pizza oven. A great place to relax and sample wines
Enjoyed a great lunch which included best pizza ever and great wine. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Hillier for making our day perfect.
We had the winery tour + tasting and it was really nice and informative. Nice location nice ambient. I would do it again.
Great pizza, good wine and excellent hospitality. We went just before noon on a Saturday and there was no line up, etc. We were able to take our time.
Disappointing. Over priced for less than good pizza and wine.
The quality of wine was up there with the best Ive had in PEC, and the wood fired pizza was great, but I found the prices a bit steep considering the alternatives. Im not sure of my expectations were up, but the service was a bit lacking too. Ive frequented a lot of the wineries around PEC and I love the small town l, family vibe they offer. Even on a crazy busy weekend Ive had great personal service. Instead of a friendly hello, it was a brush past without a glance. It was a Wednesday afternoon and although they were perhaps a bit understaffed for the number of people coming and going, at the very least to expect is some recognition. Everything worked out in the end and I would still recommend a visit for sure.
First heard of this winery at a gallery tasting in Oshawa. I literally left this venue after being seated for 2 minutes. We were preceeded by a caucasian couple who were directed to be seated while the female server visually skimmed over us but said nothing. I voluntarily asked if we could be seated too to which she replied yes. It was after that my mom shared she observed the server looking at me with disdain. My sister also shared she felt a negative vibe as well. About a minute in the same serve brought over the menus by dropping them onto our table and walking away. No greeting, eye contact, nothing. We decided to leave then. I told the sever very calmly why we were leaving - due to her dismissive attitude; to which she surprisingly replied with a chirpy ok. Like it was no issue to her that we were leaving. The perpetuation of such behaviour is so ugly truth behind all societal ills. I left a message on their voicemail after getting back to the car. Lets see how much they care.
Unfortunately as someone else pointed out in their review, we arrived when there was a private event and they were down a server so the service was rushed, cold and minimalist. I bought their Pinot Noir because it was light, had some typical spicy notes to it and was a good price. After visit 11 other wineries though I forgot about Hillier. Their wines and service dis not stick out in my mind. Its a large space and its beautiful though for an event.
Excellent service and good product description. Large, unpretentious vineyard. Beautiful atmosphere. 5 stars without hesitation.
Nice venue. Some staff were very friendly, others not so much. Great setting, good beverages, food was okay, would recommend
Very friendly staff, and you must try their oak aged chardonnay and fortified wines! Superb!
Pretty location and a nice Pinot noir!
Delicious wines with a very friendly & welcoming owner.
Picturesque setting, friendly, knowledgeable, Authentic, Good wine, Great experience
Fantastic pizza and great wine nice outdoor patio
Excellent pizzas. Very nice setting. Good value for money if I compare to neighboring competition.
Came for lunch. Poor service - we had to get water for ourselves after waiting 15 minutes and all the servers appeared frazzled and confused despite how many staff they had. Pizzas had dry crusts and mediocre toppings. Gorgonzola and onion pizza was especially sad with not nearly enough toppings to merit being called a pizza. Basically ate like an onion bun. The cheese plates looked equally sad. The patio was nice but not with subjecting yourself to the food and service for.
Pizza was dry as a cracker....wine was likely the worst in the county.
Nice winery, people seem friendly, comfortable layout, wines are very good.We biked there OK,but highway is very fast ,Beware...
We enjoyed a great pizza here, the wines werent my style but I can appreciate them
Really bad service & wine
