Dine In and Take out is always available. Family owned and operated since 1979...making it Huntsville's oldest family run restaurant. Generations of customers from far and wide have been making Westside Fish and Chips Family Restaurant a destination for decades....literally! Famous for hand dipped English Style Fish and Chips with a light, crispy batter... but it's also great for an affordable breakfast (we make the BEST Eggs Benny!) - our hand rolled pies are award winning as are our butter tarts. We make our own...homefries, mashed potatoes and coleslaw, chicken pot pie, black bean burgers, jambalaya and chickPEA pot pie. We slow roast our beef, we mix and hand make our burger patties - and - we like your kids! Come on over!!
Sharon was an excellent server, the fish and chips were really good. The atmosphere was very unique and the story of the tea pots was enjoyable to hear. It just confirms the long history of great food and great service!
Some of the best fish and chips in the area. The spaghetti meat sauce was great too. And a delightful slice of home made coconut cream pie to end our birthday lunch! Must visit when in Huntsville
I have come to this restaurant for many years and I still enjoy it just the same as my first experience. The food is spectacular and it's a perfect sized portion for whatever you may order. I have ordered breakfast and fish and chips here many times. There are 3 fish options when ordering fish and chips that vary in price but are all very fairly priced. I usually go there earlier in the day and it always has great music playing but remains peaceful, and they are always coming around for the coffee refills, which is a recipe for a great morning. I appreciate the staff and the atmosphere at West Side Fish and Chips as they are friendly and are frequently tending to their guests. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody in the area. There are so many things to see and try at this restaurant and it really gives off a true muskoka experience.
Great Fish & Chips spot! Very homey Food quality was very demur! Portion-size was very generous! I usually don’t like coleslaw but this one HIT! (More on the vinegar side) Nice & cool, & had to end off the meal with some mud-slide pie to go! Amazing experience (also shoutouts to our waiter who can sing: NobleWolf63 check out the local talent!) would come again!
Awesome little restaurant on route to the Provincial parks. While they sell other dishes, they are known for their fish and chips. Pretty much the standard you'd find at a good fish and chips shop in England! We had the haddock and it was fresh, crispy and tasty. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Oh and don't forget to finish off the meal with a slice of one of their homemade pies (which are made every morning). The rhubarb and Strawberry pie was delicious!
I’ve eaten here once and have gotten takeout at least twice over the past 12 years. The service and food are both good, the fish and fries both taste fresh and good. (Fish is a bit more oily than some places FYI, but good) It’s a cute setup and the decor is interesting as well.
During my recent visit to this charming little eatery, I indulged in their fish ‘n’ chips and coleslaw, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of delightful. The fish was perfectly tender, encased in a crispy, golden batter that provided just the right amount of crunch. Complementing the fish was the coleslaw, which was an absolute standout – fresh, creamy, and bursting with flavor. It was, in a word, woww! Beyond the culinary delights, the ambiance of the place added to the overall charm. The decor was irresistibly cute, featuring an array of unique pots and spoons that gave the restaurant a whimsical, homey feel. The attention to detail in the decor made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Moreover, the restaurant’s location offered a lovely view, allowing diners to savor their meals while taking in the serene surroundings. It’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy delicious food with a pleasant view. Overall, this eatery is a gem, offering not just great food but also a delightful atmosphere that makes for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
Such a cute little spot - friendly and delicious! Their fish and tartar sauce is excellent, as was their coconut cream pie. Food came quickly and our server was super nice about a last minute change we had to make to our order. The restaurant itself has pretty cute decor as well - so many teapots! We made a reservation via email in advance too and they had a spot for us at the back near the windows ready to go :) overall a great experience!
Friendly service and good food
Best fish ever & great staff
Asian-racism is found here. If you are non-white, consider TWICE when coming here.
I went here on Nov 2nd, and it was an AWFULLY TERRIBLE experience. I went with a group of friends consisting of 20 people, when we came in, we did not expect they would have enough table and the white cashier named LYNN M who we asked for tables. She was clearly annoyed and irritated and said We do not have enough tables and you should have made a reservation, even though when we asked very KINDLY. We were fine with that and started ordering food, it was even more AWFUL when ordering. While ordering, sometimes, she said something and we didnt catch we asked to repeat and she was VERY UPSET and not willing to repeat, we nicely asked her to explain some food and she exhaled and didnt want to answer, actually she was not willing to ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS (EXCUSE ME??? WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS). She was plain MEAN AND SUPER ANNOYED throughout the whole time, even not willing to serve us. We had to eat outside on the patio because not enough tables. I had to use the washroom so I came inside to ask for the washroom, a staff pointed out for me, it was next to the dining area so i walked through the dining area and GUESS WHAT there was a bunch of tables not taken by ANYONE, which apparently shows that the cashier LYNN M didnt want to serve us. (The cashier and dining area were separated by a wall so we couldnt see the dining area) There was a paper in the restaurant saying that IF THE CUSTOMER WAS MEAN AND RUDE THEY WOULD BE CHARGED 10 BUCKS. LOLLLLLL They still have AUDACITY to say that? SHE was the one who being DISCRIMINATING, DISRESPECTFUL, IMPOLITE, IRRITATED, RUDE AND MEAN. SHE was discriminating because after we finished ordering, she treated other white customers nicely. In summary, THE CASHIER LYNN M WAS RACIST AND DISCRIMINATED due to the fact that we are a group of Asian and got treated SUPER poorly. She said there were not enough tables (There were a lot of them unoccupied), didnt offer us any tables, not willing to answer questions, mean and irritated the whole time, gave us weird look, she kept exhaling when taking orders. NOT RECOMMENDING THIS FREAKING IMPOLITE, DISCRIMINATING RESTAURANT
Nice enough place, service not the greatest. We had to ask for tartar sauce with our fish and they didnt bring my gravy.
Great fish and chips, great service. Prices are reasonable.
Racist attitudes!! The food was good and loved the decore and was having so much fun with my 10 persons big friends and family group. Each of us ordered separate plates of combo dishes - almost 200$ + bill was paid. I just asked for only one refill for my glass or coke, then the server told me so so rudely that I can not share my drinks - she saw I shared it with my husband. Then she stomped the refilled glass in front of me so rudely! I was not sharing my one glass drink with everyone! My 2 kids literally had only 2 sips from my glass and my hubby had some more sips. Well you could have just told me nicely that it s one glass per one person and no sharing! In one chance the server was so loud and so rude saying that it s one glass for one person. Who knew that this is soooooo restricted! Well okay - we are brown ppl and I wear hijab - we got it that u r racist. RACIST. You could have tell me nicely. My hubby paid the 2nd glass of drinks bill after this bad bad attitude. If we can pay 200$ for my food then I can pay 2/3$ also for my another drink. Nothing was good after this behaviour. No no I did not share my drink with 10 ppl don t picture it in wrong way. I know I can t share my one glass with 10 ppl and then ask for refill.
Fish and Chips are must try here! Do not forget to look at all the paintings on Celing and an amazing collection of all the tea pot and defenitly read the story!!
Had halibut and chips. Coleslaw has good balance of acid and sweetness. Fish tastes good but 2 piece portions are barely enough for an adult lunch Server was friendly but watchful Maybe one too many done and dash? Dining room was fairly full on a late Sunday afternoon
Westside Fish and Chips is a hidden gem, offering some of the best fish and chips Ive ever had! This family-run restaurant has rightfully earned TripAdvisors Travelers Choice Award for both 2021 and 2022, and its easy to see why. The fish is perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, and paired with golden, crunchy fries that complement the meal beautifully. Their coleslaw is a refreshing side crisp, creamy, and the perfect balance of flavors to round out the dish. The friendly atmosphere and exceptional service from the family make it a must-visit spot for anyone craving a classic fish and chips experience. Highly recommended!
Probably among the best fish and chips I ve tried anywhere across Canada! Must try if you re in the area
Terrible food,no atmosphere ,its gone downhill since we used to love this placefor food and value. My Daughter.Son in law and 2 Granddaughters and I came here for a Saturday evening meal at 5 pm The restaurant was almost emtpy ,and after our terrible food I understand the reason .There was one couple in the large room at the side and a few others in main room.I was surprised because it was a long weekend .And we had been here 2 years ago when the place never had an empty seat . The girls ordered pasta which was fine .A simple dish My Daughter ordered perogi ,my Son in law and myself ordered the Haddock ,fries amd coleslaw. Her perogi had nothing inside one of them .The other 4 very small ,hard as arock deep fried had very little filling and she could not cut it in half. These were store bought boxed perogis but even then they could and should have been cooked in butter in a fry pan ,not deep fried in oil the fish were fried in. Her fries were of small quantity and hard . My fish had very hard batter that had been deep fried before and provably left over and put in deep fry to warm up . Same with my Son in law s I would have complained but then we just wanted to leave this uncomfortable experience and not stay for a second try at our dinners It is a stark atmosphere and if only 2 other people in dining room there is no privacy or sound dampering wall hangings or booths . Its like sitting in a big kitchen in a persons house but only tea pots on rack around ceiling that is very old and after seeing it for 5 minutes theres nothing to ponder I was very reluctant to pay the $90.00 for what we had and went back to our cottage hungry and making snacks for everyone I would not recommend this place . Too bad because it used to be our favourite restaurant in Huntsville
Enjoyed lunch here today for the first time while traveling with my family. A cheerful and eclectic restaurant, cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the vast collection of teapots adorning the display shelves. Friendly and quick service. We all enjoyed sharing the family value meal which came with 6 pieces of fish cooked with a light and crispy batter, home cut fries and gravy, and tasty creamy coleslaw. We finished our meal with 3 of their homemade desserts which included a delicious hot brownie with ice cream which I shared with my daughter. Would definitely welcome this restaurant for their fish and chips at reasonable prices and friendly service.
Stopped in for lunch with my family after a drive up from Guelph. We were greeted and seated right away, amongst the cozy, eclectic decor. There were 5 of us, and we made a good call ordering the family style fish and chip meal. It was some of the best fried fish in recent memory, flaky and fresh with a light and perfectly crispy batter. Accompanied by a good helping of fries, coleslaw and gravy - we were well satisfied. I also went for a small bowl of the fish chowder, which really hit the spot. Despite being somewhat full, we opted for dessert. Im glad we did, as the Brownie Bliss, grapefruit pie and apple crisp did not disappoint. An all around scrumptious meal, enhanced by excellence service. Worth the stop! Parking: Plenty of spots behind the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, welcoming staff.
This place is gem for fish and chips in Huntsville
Fish and chips were fine, but the toast was burnt and tasted bitter, so we couldnt eat it all.
Cozy , unique, fun decor Food is good too Food
Pretty freshly Fried fish and chips. Friendly service too. Nice place for a lunch.
Terrible take out. The fish and chips I got for takeout was nothing like real British fish and chips at all, at least none I have ever had. The Haddock was tiny about 2x3 inches and rather flat with far too much chewy overcooked batter and little fish. The chips were old and tasted odd and the 3/4 pound shrimp were so tiny, tasteless and all batter all this with No lemon, no tartar sauce and no coleslaw for $ 19.95. A complete and utter waste of time. Awful.
Best fish and poutine Ive had in years! Highly recommend this hidden gem!
Food was above average. It would have been a good experience except when we asked for a glass of water for the 4 people in our table, the waiter responded to us by saying Didnt I ask a couple of times already if you wanted water?? How many do you need?? This was spoken in a very condescending manner and we didnt feel any ounce of customer service at all. And take note, this was the first time we asked for water. I hope they improve their tone of voice and manner of answering. Really disappointed and wouldnt be recommending this to resto to people we know.
Such a cozy spot for great fish and chips and some excellent excellent pie. We had a slice of coconut cream pie and lemon meringue, and would recommend both. Really good flaky crust!
Excellent !! Never disappoints! Still family run , need more restaurants like it .
Good food fast
So fresh and delish fish! Super friendly and quick homestyle service you can only get in a family run and owned establishment. Highly recommend and cannot miss while in Huntsville.
Super friendly atmosphere and friendly staff.Take care of you really well
We ordered dinner for three. Three halibut fish, three orders of.chips, a 4 oz. and 8 oz coleslaw. What we received was disgusting. Three small pieces of fish and not enough for two never mind three as we requested. One small box of fries quite obviously not enough for three. Coleslaw was one 8 oz and was horrible, mushy, soggy more like oatmeal. The only reason we went to this place was the Halibut House is closed on Wednesday. Our bill was $48 and I will definitely be telling as many people as I can to stay away from this establishment. We did contact the restaurant upon opening our meal at home and there response was...well halibut is expensive you know!! They also told us to write a review. .. well here it is. Thank God Huntsville has the Halibut House!
All around great. For the first time in maybe forever the fish and chips were so good I used no tarter sauce, vinegar or ketchup, just ate and enjoyed oh natural. Stories about the tea pots and the ceiling tiles just made the whole experience even better. Thanks to all that work there. Secret Santa
My heart breaks whenever I go to a good fish and chips shop and they have frozen chips. It ruins it for me. It s so disappointing because this used to be the spot to go for fish and chips.
Great local fish and chips spot. Both the battered and pan fried white fish were delicious. Coleslaw portions were very generous and they have cool trivia cards on each table to keep the conversation flowing
Return visit to have fish and chips. So disappointed This time soggy fish and chips. Hope not off anothers plate that was not eaten. Food
Great food
Westside F&C is such an amazing little place to get some seriously amazing fish and chips. Took the family there for dinner and everyone was quite impressed by their portions and how good the batter is that they use on the fish. I opted for a breakfast while the wife and kids chose the haddock dinners, second picture is of a kids mini fish and chips dinner... everything was top notch. Highly recommend if your in the mood for fish and chips.
Their fish and chips are definitely worth the cost... With fantastic service.. Great coffee .. This place has a lot of character Parking outback Take out available
It was very sunny the day we visited so we wanted to sit on the patio. The staff or owner (who was an old lady) said that s alright but no one would serve us on the patio and we d have to come to the counter for picking up the food, with a bad attitude. We agreed, ordered some drinks and snacks and paid with 10% of tips because she mentioned, we d receive no services. After eating we went to the washroom and heard her complaining to one of the customers sitting indoor, saying see that they came to use our washroom . We were really upset and wonder where s her bad attitude from? It s our first time visiting this restaurant and we kept the table very clean after eating. Was it because we re a group of Asians? Or was it because customers sitting on the patio are not allowed to use the washroom? The food was generally ok but I will not come back for sure.
Best spot for fish and chips that hit the spot
This place was amazing. We happened to stop here on the way home from Muskoka and had a great experience. I started with a piece of lemon meringue pie, followed by White Fish and Chips. Coleslaw was creamy with a horseradish finish. I also got a half dozen butter tarts to go! Service was excellent and a great vibe from the staff.
Loved it. Service was fantastic and quick. Fish and Chips were light and well battered, crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. Tartar Sauce was excellent. Would definitely come back A++!
Don t pass by this gem!! Great fish and chips
A must if youre in the area. Excellent food especially the fish and chips. Friendly service too!
Great fish and chips. My Mrs loved all the teapots. A bit expensive but delicious.
Great local place. I walked up from the water and stopped in before heading out. A great experience!
Great food and great service! Takeout was surprisingly crispy and delicious after 20 minutes drive! Will come back for dining in experience!
Family atmosphere treat every one the same.
Excellent food
Visited on August 16, 2024. This used to be the go to place for fish n chips but things have changed. Portions are very small and thin and the french fries are frozen with the crispy coating...gross. Id suggest taking the Fish n Chips out of the name because that clearly isnt their specialty anymore. Wait staff are great and so is dessert...which you will have lots of room for. Ill continue my search for Fish n Chips, in Muskoka, that rival Jeff Purveys in Peterborough.
Delicious fish and chips! I had Haddock, and my friend has halibut. We both enjoyed it thoroughly. The atmosphere and art is incredible!
One of the best fish and chips I have tried. Only wish they had home made tartar sauce.
Came here on a family trip and we ordered the fish and chips (halibut) - it was amazing! Great food and service :)
Genuinely the best fish and chips Ive ever had!! Get the Halibut!! The service was amazing and the vibe is so nice!
Great place for breakfast in addition to their awesome fish and chips
Great food and amazing service! Well be back.
Great place to get a reliable burger. Hope you like tea pots.
The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly, the only problem was that there was no tartar sauce in my stapled shut bag, so I didnt find out until I got home, 20 minutes away. Definitely ask to make sure youre getting tartar sauce with your food.
Almost a five star definitely 4.5 if available. The fried fish and chips one of best I had. I got the halibut choice and definitely wanted seconds but had to stick to my diet. Great value. I prefer the fries versus the coleslaw. The bottomless lemonade tasted amazing! Parking: Free in back of restaurant Kid-friendliness: Yes lots of kids there when I went
There s SO MANY cute little trinkets and details around. You can tell this place has been well loved with the amount of care put into it. I loved the crispiness of the batter on the haddock. It wasn t too oily or overly battered so you could enjoy the subtler flavour of the fish. The batter also had a good amount of salt with it. The fries also had a great fry on them! It had the perfect amount of mushiness to them as well. The coleslaw had great creaminess and flavour to it - the seasoning wasn t super overwhelming so you can also enjoy the natural flavours of the vegetables. The shrimp with the little cocktail sauce was SOOOOO good as well.
Best spot for fish and chips in the Muskoka area
Great little spot. Good family atmospheres and great food
Awesome service great food very nice staff
Beware of take out sizes. Food is good just very small portions. At least what we ordered.
Really good food
Great food and service
Ate here for the second time while camping at arrowhead. Since the first time I ate here two years ago I have wanted to go back. Just as good as the first time. My kids absolutely loved it aswell. By far the best fish and chips. And absolutely the most friendly staff. 100% will be back.
Great fish and pie, really enjoyed the atmosphere. So many teapots every where
Went in as a group. Tried coconut shrimps Fish on a bun and Peameal BLT with Muskoka . Food was delicious. Lot of paintings on the ceiling. Tea pots al around. All in all Good food, ambiance & amazing hospitality! Parking: Free parking behind the restaurant.
Hands down this is the best fish and chips in the muskokas!!! Love the texture, taste, service and home feeling! Def our new spot for fish and chips. Food
Damn good fish, great service and clean restaurant
Went here with a few of my friends around a week ago. We ate delicious fish and chips and the server even told us about places to go in town. Definitely a place to stop next time I am in the area.
Some of the very best halibut & chips we have eaten in many years! Batter is thin & crispy, not thick/greasy/chewy as so many places insist on doing it these days. Of course, halibut isnt the cheapest option (West Side offers haddock and even whitefish as well), but when its this good its worth every penny! Great food, excellent service...very highly recommended.
Nice
Breakfast eggs sausage and home fries with rye toast and OJ. Decent sized small juice, wasnt cold, scrambled egg was almost cold, sausage had weird freezer taste. Potatoes and toast was best part of meal. Not a regular, was just passing through. Will look for different diner next time. Service was friendly and fast.
Ive been coming here since I was little - (20 years now) and everytime Im in Huntsville, I always stop by here and it never disappoints. Great food, atmosphere and amazing for families.
Light crispy batter on the fish, and THE BEST pie. Lemon meringue and coconut cream are my go-tos. Kid-friendliness: I ve been coming since I was a kid and it s always been very kid friendly! They have a nice little kids menu, and provide colouring.
Great service, cute restaurant, great food, great price. What more could you want?
Food
Rude service gos in and handling food with outwashing hand dirty uttanicals
Great service and food. Had the haddock and shrimp . Back again and still amazing!
Stopped a couple of times for breakfast. So good we are probably going to start going on a regular basis
Amazing fish and chips and hospitality. Steve served us and he was great!
Its ok. Was a little rubbery and greasy but it was ok perhaps Im just spoiled from the fish and chips place back home
Very good breakfast Apparently the fish and chips are good as well lol Food
Great fish, fast service at a cozy little diner! What more could you want?
Fresh made food.
We ordered take out on Good Friday. We ordered the family meal as there was 4 adults and 2 children. We were surprised when we opened up our order the fry box was only a little more than half full. Tiny pieces of fish. I called after we finished eating to ask about the order and first of all the lady I spoke to on the phone was kind of rude and I did hear in the background a comment about calling 45 mins after I picked up my order. Also telling me a couple of times there was no order for me as well. Order was for 5:30 and waited an extra 15 minutes but was fine with that as it s a busy day. Unfortunately we are 15 minutes out of town plus we had hungry children so that s why I didn t call right away. Food was good. I understand it s a very busy day for them.
Good fish and chips. Good Coco shrimps
The staff were amazing and the food was very good.
I ordered over the phone 2 pc halibut with full chips and coleslaw. For $33 I got 1.5 flat skinny pcs and 1 small chunk fish, decent amount of fries and a tiny amount of coleslaw that was quite vinegary (I prefer creamier). The fish was tasty but so thin that it wasnt worth the price.
We ordered one of the specials for February. Whitefish with Fries abd and awesome piece of homemade coconut cream pie! Kid-friendliness: They have a table as you come in set up with activities that children can take to the table to play with or colourung pages
The fish and chips are TO DIE FOR!!! The batter is exceptional with fresh coleslaw that made it the perfect lunch. This coupled with the wonderfully cozy vibe and warm service, we re definitely coming back when we can!
West Side Fish and Chips is our go-to when we are passing thru Huntsville
Fish cooked to perfection!
Don t judge me but I started a carnivore diet as it is the only one that actually helps me, all this to say that eating at a restaurant is often difficult but I asked that my fish be cooked with butter and salt and that s it. The result was probably the best fish I ever had. Cooked to perfection. It was so delicious I will probably have it again while I m here in Huntsville.
It was delicious and simple.
Cute little spot with delicious fish and chips.
Great service, great menu, great food, all the teapots are a hoot, old school restaurant with lots of charm. Check it out! Parking: Loads of free parking behind the restaurant.
First time we have been there. Service was above normal. Fish and chips were the best we have ever had!! Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Will be back again, soon.
Great food and friendly atmosphere
Very good fish and chips, friendly staff, and lovely atmosphere.
Really good food, and we were surrounded by so many cute teapots!
We were hear in February and had their 24.99 special for two had the two piece haddock fish and chips and it was excellent Parking: Lots of parking out back street parking is limited
Fast and friendly service. We had the 2 for $25 Valentines ( February) special. Fish and chips were excellent, perfectly cooked Shared a piece of Coconut Creme pie which was also very good Large portions. Love supporting local small, family owned businesses. You wont regret it
Never fails
Food so tasty, literally forgot to click photographs. 4 adults and a kid ordered Onion Rings Customers Choice w/ fries cole slaw Grilled Fish Coffee Food was yum Coffee was good and freshly brewed for us The staff is friendly, kind and polite. They really are nice to customers and they know how to host Dietary restrictions: Gluten free fried fish was available only on Monday and Sunday. So check before you go Parking: Free behind the place Kid-friendliness: Extremely, especially because of the decorative interiors and festive atmosphere.
Relatives took me to your restaurant last summer and the fish and chips were phenomenal. Im visiting again over the next two weeks and cant wait to return. Living in Alberta, we just dont have good fish and chips, so this is a real treat!
Awesome place to eat, full menu, great friendly staff, reasonable prices.
Had what was listed as halibut. Not great. Batter heavier than usual and fish thin and wet. So not usual. So disappointed. Two of us, both sad. Went back taking a chance and presently surprised. Back up to usual quality we had come to expect! Shows how easy reps can be ruined. So glad chef and supplier problems solved. Fish and chips this time were excellent! Keep up the good job!
We ve eaten at Westside many times over the years and have always enjoyed our meals. However, our visit on May 10th was disappointing. My wife ordered 2 pieces of halibut and I ordered a halibut sandwich. When our food arrived my wife s order had one average piece of fish and one piece about the size of a toonie (not exaggerating). She said, I ordered 2 pieces. The waiter said yep . We both asked if the second tiny piece was meant to be her second piece he again said yes . He then said he would get a second piece but would only charge us for one piece. The cook brought the second piece out himself and apologized for the mix up. The bill arrived. We were charged for the second piece. We did not ask for it to be removed. He offered. He did not remove the charge. My halibut sandwich was $15 with no fries and was the size of a filet-o-fish at McDonald s. The bill came to $55 for 2 pieces of average sized fish and a small sandwich. (We also had a pop and an order of bread & butter) When we got to the cash we were asked how our meal was. My wife said awful . The response from the cashier (owner?) . I find that hard to believe, we are very highly rated on all the websites . Poor service can happen, we get it. Your indifference cost you a loyal customer.
Friendly staff and the fish and chips were pretty good!
Amazing Food. soo yummy and mouth watering!! They do an excellent job at catering to our needs. They also have excellent customer service. Shout out to Steven he works extra hard to keep the quality to the standards!
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. It s definitely worth the drive from Toronto just to go here the batter that they use is completely authentic and Steve did a great job of taking care of us. I ll definitely be coming back again.
Great food and service in this cute place
Fish and chips are great. Fast, friendly service in a cozy atmosphere.
This restaurant is the definition of a small town, family friendly atmosphere. We loved the teapot decor and the warm and inviting staff. The food is delicious and the prices are very fair for the portions. I highly recommend you take the time out of your day to visit this down to earth small town restaurant.
I have only given 1 other bad review ever and I hate to do it, but my family experienced the rudest welcome here while visiting the area. We were excited to try this place out after reading the reviews. We walked in and the gentleman told us to go on in and pick out a table. He then came out and told us to wait, he needed to get a table. While standing there, a lady came out and asked if we had been helped and I told her we were waiting for a table to be set up. She immediately became very rude and said over and over we don t have a table for 5 people. We were willing to wait and just couldn t understand why she was being so rude. We were all in shock and decided to eat somewhere else. Glad we did because we ended up having a lovely lunch down the street.
Breakfast was awesome as was the atmosphere. Disney teapots everywhere. Kids enjoying. Did not pay, was treated to the meal. Would definately go back. Food
Fun place with dozens of cute teapots for decoration. Sensible business practices and good sized portions. This is the first fish and chips Ive had in a decade that didnt turn my stomach - the fried fish is tasty, hot and crispy. Food
Everything was perfect! Our server was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere welcoming and clean, and all the food was delicious. The fish is freshly dipped and fried, crispy and not greasy. I appreciated the menu options of different size portions, easy substitutions, and combos. There were even cushions available for those that need a softer seat! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free items are marked, with the caveat that it is not a gluten-free kitchen.
Fish was amazing. Waitress was awesome. Thank you for such excellent service.
Food was delicious!! Service was great, so friendly Food
Lovely breakfast served, fresh pies, fish and chips, homemade soup of the day. Lots of parking, one wheelchair accessible washroom unisex with baby change station. Fast & friendly service. Loved the decor. Hundreds of teapots and artwork on the ceiling tiles. Prices reasonable. Will definitely return. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free option bread and pies Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp out front
All the staff were very friendly and the food is amazing. Definitely the best fish and the best chips I have purchased. Id say the best food Ive had from any restaurant. Highly recommend!!
Had an amazing experience, fish & chips and their pies are worth the hype! Parking: Behind the restaurant. There is an ally by the side of the building. Food : 5/5 |
The place is pretty neat, it has an old school vibe. The food was made fresh and the fries were delicious. The fish was very tasty but small. The whole meal was placed in a small container so everything was mushed together. The food was good. Parking: Lots of parking in the back part of the restaurant
We quite enjoy coming here for lunch, BLT with fries is excellent as well as their fish.
Old fashioned MA and PA restaurant. Great service, fast and friendly Had the fish and chips ...both done perfectly. Prices are great too Food
Best fish. Anywhere. Period. Super crispy and light breading. Love this place. And get the Haddock fish, absolutely no reason to upgrade to anything else, its amazing. Spicy spuds are a must too. Update years later ... Same, no question. Still a favorite. No spicy spuds anymore, but well forgive on that one!
I ordered the 2 peice halibut with fries and coleslaw. Also ordered a side of mushy peas. The fish was good. Cooked perfectly with a nice crunchy batter. Not soggy. The portion of fries was pretty small, coleslaw wasnt bad. Mushy peas were very bland. Once I added salt and pepper, it helped a bit. Strawberry and rhubarb pie was good. Pretty dated inside, needs a good face-lift.
Small place but beautiful and clean, I ordered fish and chips and theres two options, battered or grilled... the serving was perfect for me. We still have room for dessert and it was delicious. I had butter tart and my friend le.on meringue pie. Would go back if I am in the area.
It was 4 years ago that I stumbled upon this hidden gem that serves some truly delightful fish and chips. From the moment I walked into the place, I knew it would be something special. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere for my new beau and I (were still together, hes a local and insisted we go). The fish was perfection crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Each bite left me smiling from ear to ear. And the chips? Oh, they were heavenly golden and seasoned just right. What impressed me the most was the evident attention to detail and the use of quality ingredients. It truly reflected in the overall taste and experience. The portion size was generous, leaving me fully satisfied without feeling too stuffed. I really do need to get up there again soon. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Their passion for the food they served was palpable and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. If youre a fan of fish and chips, I highly recommend giving it a try you wont be disappointed! Happy dining, fellow foodies!
Was excellant
The fries by themselves tasted amazing, Id love to go back again I were in the area.
I ordered a FAMILY VALUE MEAL, it was suggested by the server and really a good value for money. Food was OK, fish tested nice and fresh but it had a smell of burnt oil. Fries were good.
Fish and chips was not what it was lead to be. We asked for lightly battered fish and it ended up being mostly batter. Fries were very greasy.
Good place for breakfast
The best fish and chips. We go here every time we are in the area!
Great ambience amazing food and friendly staff.
Food was fantastic. There were a lot of food choices. More than just fish and chips. Reasonably priced. The decor was interesting. Lots of small decorations all over the place. Even the ceiling! Parking: Parking available behind the resturant.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Best fish and chips I have ever had!
Over the many years weve been coming here, the food and service has always been consistently excellent. On our last visit we had the haddock and chips, fish chowder and Greek salad - all well made and delicious. Additionally, the young lady who served us was very patient and friendly, making our visit extra special. We really hope to come back here next year!
Cool place to check and eat some good food. Been there a couple of times and always satisfied with their service and food. Food
We live 4 hours from this restaurant and stopped in for supper. We had 1 of our 4 kids and he LOVES fish and chips. We ordered the full meal deal and it came super fast. The food was amazing. I got talking to the workers after dinner and explained we were a long ways from home and would definitely be back when in the area next time. They were worried that their prices were high but I told them if they had a shop in the Kingston area, they would definitely be the place everyone would want to go and their prices would beat all of the restaurants around there. The service was excellent and made you feel like part of the family. Definitely a place you need to stop! Kid-friendliness: We had our 5 yr old son with us and he loved the ceiling tiles that were painted different cartoons characters. They had a shelf with games that kids could play as well and it helped keep him occupied during the wait.
We went there for dinner. We ordered fish and chips (two-piece meals with sides) and hamburger meals. While the food was fine, the meal portions were small.
Best fried fish Ive had in a while, great food and great people
Came here with a family of 8 plus a baby. Host/server was able to accommodate us by putting a few tables together. We ordered two family fish (one haddock, one halibut), one family fish meal (haddock), and two Greek salads. The fish was some of the best Ive ever had. Light, crispy, and soft. Glad we made a stop here!
What a charming spot, and terrific food also. If you re looking for some great fish and chips, look no further. An extensive menu that goes well beyond just fish and chips, there s something here for everyone. We had the halibut and haddock and both were excellent choices. You really can t go wrong here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Interested array of tea pots. The fish and chips were great. I had white fish and my wife had halibut. Very satisfying. Food
Cute lil diner, great customer service and welcoming environment. The food was good. It was great to see on the last day of the summer that the Service was friendly and wonderful!
interesting decor inside, a lot of parking spots. Food was ¹11
Ive been coming here since I was a kid living locally. Now, we stop in whenever in the area. The outdoor patio area is dog friendly. One of the kind kitchen staff even brought out water for them. The food is good quality and is reasonably priced. A great little spot. Also, try the pies!
Good food and service.
Excellent food with reasonable rates
Great place for fish an chips. Great staff. Food
Delicious food & amazing pies. Gluten aware & friendly service. Love it here
There is a reason for this eatery Being around for decades Total enjoyment eating here ***** Food : 5/5 |
Visited in the way back to Toronto from Huntsville. The place is a must visit. The food was absolutely great. Personally not a huge fan of fish and chips, but will try it again there every chance I get. Even the fries and onion rings tasted better there. They have a cool decoration that complements the great food. Absolutely recommend.
We hadnt been here in ages. If anything the food and service is better than ever. Large portions and super nice waitress.
Such a yummy place to visit.
Fish and chips were great. Loved the tea pots and staff were very friendly Parking: Close. Not paved. Had to walk up a tall flight of stairs. Food : 5/5 |
Good food good people
I like place. Like food and drink
If you want and cute mom and pop diner to eat at instead of a gross franchise, this is great. The service from everyone there is fantastic, super friendly and very attentive. We had a special order and they delivered it with a smile and some nice conversation. Their smiling tea pot story is fantastic! We had a plate of half grilled and half battered fish plus order of sweet potato fries, soup of the day and a fish chowder...yum yum! Thx for the great eats, excellent service and lovely atmosphere Westside Fish and Chips!
Easy no frills fish and chips place. Friendly staff and good food.
Drove north today for the colours, and of course the Westside Fish and Chips....our annual treat and tradition! Awesome staff, nothing greasy here....the food or the restaurant, everything is clean, clean and a nice fun lunch......heat was on, my coke was ice cold and super easy to park, eat and go.....servings are the perfect size and love that you can order extra sides when the need presents itself, well done and thank you for your consistency and attention to detail!
The food there was absolutely delicious
Friendly little place in Huntsville Ontario, serving amazing fish and chips the walls are lined with tea kettles from all over the world and the ceiling tiles professionally painted by the original owner is a must see the tea kettles just blows you away. Great job keep up the friendly service and great food
Absolutely delicious food. Whitefish with fries and coleslaw. Very friendly service. Ambiance very cozy. Gladly again.
Fast, friendly, tasty!
Fantastic Fish & Chips! Westside has a variety of food on their menu...As a senior it was wonderful to be able to choose mini meals, Served at any age. Dawn was super friendly and amazing. Check out their fantastic Teapot Collection! We will be back again and again!
Lovely family restaurant ! Fish & Chips were as good as they get !!
Nice as diners go, hasn t been updated ( probably never but it s a diner so perfection) food has been great the 4 times I ve been there
Delicious home cooking in a uniquely Muskoka atmosphere. Friendly service, comfortable, and a joy to visit and revisit!
I have to say no. Considering the cost of eating here - there are many much better alternatives. The fish and chips - decent but not at all noteworthy. The atmosphere was a tad sallow - the abundance of teapots may seem a charming idea but in general the mood lacks joy. Service - lacking. The overall mood is of a place past due date.
Food very fresh and presented very fast.
