Fast food–style eatery with a patio serving Mediterranean favorites like kebabs & pita wraps.
For a party, ordered a tray of hummus to pick up from Jamos. It was the most delicious hummus and looked beautiful in the way it was presented. The guests loved it and it was a big hit. Will order again and look forward to visiting again soon.
This was the worst Mediterranean food I have ever had. The rice was mushy almost like baby food, the met was hard like it was old. The sauce salad and fruit were good but that’s mostly ingredients that are grown and has nothing to do with the chef.
I am in my 30's and have been eating here for more than 20 years consistently. I say that to say this, the prices have not really changed. If you are looking for a great meal at a great price go to Jamos. The food is always tasty and always comes out fast. I love eating at jamos.
My visit to the Cafe was very disappointing. It took over two hours for them to serve our order. The quality and quantity of the food were disappointing as they grilled kabobs on the stove instead of a grill. The French fries were half burned and half cooked, and the rice was instantly cooked in a microwave. If you're willing to waste your money, you can try this place.
We had the veggie plate and gyro wrap and both were really good. The mosaic tiles when you enter the Cafe were super cute. The place is a bit non-assuming but totally worth a try. We'll definitely visit again.
I was in Huntsville for the day and decided to try our Jamo's Cafe, and it is fair to say that if I find myself in Huntsville again I will for sure be returning! The employees were super friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh! The prices are also very fair for the amount of food you are served! :)
Nice clean hole in the wall type place. Prices are very reasonable at only $10.66 for a turkey bacon cheeseburger and grape leaves. Food was excellent. For Muslim diners: Owners are Muslim, and food is confirmed Halal. No icons are present, no alcohol is sold.
Ordered chicken kabob. Great taste and I could not believe that under $12 I got pita, rice, chicken kabob, hummus, salad and some fruit. Place Looks not so glamorous from outside or in but absolutely I was pleased with the the food, packaging. My dinner box had cutlery in it as well so I got everything that I needed. I highly recommend this place.
Excellent food! Most made on site.
Good food, good prices. Kind of a hole in the wall, but they have a good patio and good food! Cheeseburger and fries is my go to.
They where out of most things
There food was not great at all it Lacked flavor
Always been one of my favorite places to eat.
Horrible experience , the place is full of smell and kitchen looks filthy . I stood there 10 minutes to order and decided to not order . Recommend not eating . Can be heath issue .
Super delicious food, the place is very familiar
Just a simple family owned restaurant with halal foods.
Ordered two hummus dips with no olives, extra peppers. Charged me for extra meat adding an additional $4.58 to my bill. Of course I received no credit for the olives. (Maybe the olives are free.) Im fine with restaurants charging reasonable prices for extras, but not $5 for four peppers without letting me know ahead of time. I used to like this place, but I hate being ripped off. Now I wont be back.
Very nice
Looked this up while visiting and enjoyed the food with my companion!
We love stopping in here for the gyros. They are yummy.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would. We stopped in for lunch today. We were the only customers when we arrived (should have took that as a sign). We ordered a lunch plate, philly steak wrap, dolmades, and two fountain drinks. They got the ice from the sink, I watched them do it .there was something black floating in my drink when I received it. It took 35 minutes to receive our food, and I had to ask for the dolmades because they were forgotten. And honestly, we should have forgotten them too because they were not worth asking for. As far as the food, everything was old tasting. The lettuce on my wrap and on the plate lunch was wet and not crispy, the fries tasted freezer burnt then fried in old grease, the dressing for the salad had a chemical taste, and the humus was so watery that it had a pool of liquid on top of a gloop of what resembled humus. I could keep going but hopefully you get the point. Additionally, I understand the relationship of the workers to be father, teenage daughter and teenage son. And they are not afraid to yell at each other argumentatively, even with customers in the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was $30 wasted on lunch that we left on the table. Will not return.
Honestly, I would not know anything about their menu other than their hamburgers. They have the best steak burger In town, that is if you trust their proprietary blend of onion, mayonnaise mustard and seasoning. I couldnt tell you exactly what it is but it is absolutely delicious. The best! At the best price in town.
The best Mediterranean food I ve ever had in Alabama Dietary restrictions: It doesn t contain pork is halal Parking: It s close and accessible to the business
Dont let the exterior deter you. The lamb kebobs are delicious! Also, I love the kafta and the gyro platters. I will definitely be a returning customer.
Falafel is really good! Always fresh!
Excellent gyros and Kebabs at this cafe, with a good selection of drinks to include good smoothies. For the price (around 12 for a kebab plate or 6.50 for a gyro) getting food of this quality is unheard of nowadays. While theres nothing particularly exotic about the menu this is one of the best places near redstone for a great and affordable lunch.
As someone from New York. This place is
I like to eat at mom and pop restaurants. I have tried Jamos twice on my lunch hour. Both times they were rude and slow. The restaurant is dirty and the food is average at best.
The food was delicious, I had a chicken cheesestake and fries, and my friend had a gyro plate with a salad. She said her coffee was great. I also got a chia smoothie. I highly recommend Jamos Cafe. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking and wheelchair entrance.
Very small and cozy cafe. Food and service was wonderful, was a perfect way to wrap up a long day.
Very nice place to eat good food and affordable price Vegetarian options: light calorie Wheelchair accessibility: easy access
Amazing food, great prices. The staff was very friendly and nice I would recommend
Delicous!
It was my first time in Jamos Cafe. I love the ma and pa feel. There are not a lot of seats so we were lucky to grab a table. They do have additional tables outside if the weather allows. The gyro was outstanding, maybe in the top 2 for the Huntsville area.
One of my favorite spots in Huntsville. Good lattes, falafel sandwiches, & lentil soup. Try the dolmas, tabouleh, & hummus. Tasty! Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options with falafel & hummus.
I love Jamos. The man can cook great homemade food, can serve surprisingly good coffee (better than Starbucks), and is generally quite warm and friendly. The inside of the restaurant is a little akin to a living room, with one side having a TV and a coffee table, where the (presumably) owner sits and hangs out at when business is slow. The center is the seating area, and the other side is an entranceway with some decorations and potted houseplants placed around. The atmosphere is generally a cozy place to hang out and drink coffee (or tea) and eat truly exceptional Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food. Its a great place to have a relaxed, enjoyable experience whether you are eating a meal or simply there to talk with friends and sip on a beverage. P.S. My personal recommendation is the Kefta, or the Lamb Kabob. I prefer the baba gahnoush over the hummus, but both are homemade and extremely good. The Baklava is also better than any other Ive had in the city. Parking: Its a fairly small parking lot on the side of Jordan Lane, but there is usually no issue finding a space unless the restaurant is particularly full.
Good food. Fast friendly service. Would eat there again.
Older place buy real food.
Found this little cafe while traveling for business and was pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious and portions were just right.
I used to eat here all the time and was excited to try it again. Was very mediocre. The chicken wrap was soggy, and my salad had a lot of browned/ wilted lettuce. I would try it again, but definitely not the place I remember.
The place is very dirty. I would not recommend eating here. If they don t clean the common areas they for sure don t clean the kitchen. The wraps are just pita and barely any filling. The lettuce was old and black. Disgusting place.
Group of coworkers dined in and ordered an array of plates. We got our food in a timely manner and everything was delicious.
Food was great and the service was too!
First time going to Jamo s café. Food was good ,not spectacular. Parking: Ample parking, probably because, it was past the lunchtime rush. Parking lot is actually on the small side. Recommended dishes Falafel Plate Parking space
This is the worst place I have ever encountered as for as trying to learn any information about the meat that they serve. The owner got upset at me because I inquired about whether the meat he serves is hand slaughtered or machine slaughtered. The customer service is horrible and unprofessional the customer has the right to ask any question concerning the product you are claiming to be halal. If it s not hand slaughtered then say it s not hand slaughtered but don t get sarcastic with customers who maybe a little more scrupulous than you in what they put in their bodies.
Everything is so good and cooked to order. They serve fresh Authentic Mediterranean. I loved the young man working and the grandpa it was such great portion for the prices. you gotta try this place. I got the veggie wrap and Greek salad it was like 13.00. So Good!!!
Best tzaziki sauce ive ever had! I think it has little strips of cucumber in it. Yum !Simple diner setup with a patio. Good food for an unbeatable price! Vegetarian options: Falafel is vegetarian
ordered hummus, spanakopita, and a chicken kebab plate. everything was delicious! dined in; the staff was friendly and attentive. overall a great place for mediterranean.
The taste of the gyros meat was excellent just needs more sides
Amazing Eatery
I ate here with my family on a trip, the food was really good, it was better than I expected. The Coffee is really good even my mom approved of it. I especially enjoyed the Boca lava. The guy who runs it is kind and polite. I recommend it.
We were amazed by this small place. The food is outstanding. We went during off hours between lunch and dinner. Our meal was freshly prepared was excellent.
Fast service and tasty food
My favorite kabob place in town! The hummus is also phenomenal (again best in town); I m also a huge fan of the falafel & baklava!
This was our first time here! It was absolutely delicious! The owner clearly puts his heart into his food. Will be back again! Kabobs are awesome and the Baklava was amazing!
The food is AMAZING! The people are friendly! The have several sugar free coffee flavors. Thats great for diabetics. I wish I could give more stars. But the Bathroom drain smell really bad. It is a real turn off. If they fix it I will definitely give more stars
Im Not a fan, will not return
the boyfriend and I wanted to try it, since the reviews were very good. the people were very nice so I feel bad for rating it this low. they were out of a lot of things, the food felt like it was cold for a long time and then halfway reheated. very disappointed. maybe it was just a bad day for them, which happens. I worked in customer service for a long time so i can be empathetic. I am willing to give it another try in the future.
Had the gyro platter. 5 star worthy although the pita bread was a little dry. The flavor of the meat, the crispness of the veges, the flavor of the rice more than made up for it. Very nice lady behind the counter.
Chop it up you have been around 30 years too long completely unacceptable.. This food was cooked about 3 days ago or longer.. I knew better...
Nice family-owned restaurant, good quality food, and 1 of 3 halaal establishments in Huntsville so it makes a good spot for after Jumuah. Ive had the Gyro Wrap and Bacon Cheeseburger so far and both were delicious. Dietary restrictions: Halaal Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking in front
The staff there was very friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered a Gyro Plate and an Arnold Palmer for drink.
Great place to have coffee, tea, or a delicious meal with friends.
Not authentic at all, dirty, messy place, rude, unprofessional server/working woman Falafel wraps barely had any actual falafel balls; it s mainly lettuce and tomato. Chicken wrap was so bad and oily that my kids got sick from it! If you know what s authentic Lebanese food, you will be able to tell that this place doesn t serve it.
Really good food with reasonable prices!
Tried the Kafta Pita wrap and found it to be very good. Food portion seemed just right, not too much or too little and was a reasonable price. The friend that went with me enjoyed the falafel. I would definitely go back. This is definitely a local mom and pop type business that is worth a visit.
Great Middle East fare. Fast friendly service. Reasonable price for quality food.
Family owned, clean, accessible, fresh, delicious, inclusive, halal and covid compliant. The food is made to order with heated patio seating and hookahs available for rent. Excellent coffees, teas, cream sodas and sandwiches.
For college students this place great. Ill have to try it again.
What a great find! Everything was fantastic. Best sweet tea I ve had in a long time. Hummus appetizer and everything we ate was wonderful. Definitely going back. Soon.
We loved it! Philly steak gyro is bomb
Always so fresh..
Great food!!
Great food! If you havent eaten there u should.
Good food.
The food is super good, quick, and reasonably priced. I totally recommend Jamo s!
The space is welcoming, but the food is just okay. I have had a lot more authentic Mediterranean food.
Pretty good!
I met my boyfriend at Jamos for lunch on Saturday after a morning class at UAH. There are a lot of solid places to eat on Jordan Lane, but if youre looking for a quick, relatively inexpensive place for a fresh bite to eat, Jamos is not a bad bet! Since its a cafe, they have several coffee and smoothie and juice options. Regrettably, I didnt try any of those, but they looked and smelled good! Instead, I had the chicken kabob plate, and my boyfriend had the gyro plate. Jamos was sadly empty when we arrived around 12:15. A man and someone who looked like his daughter jumped up to help us. She took our orders while he immediately went to the kitchen to start cooking our food for us. No doubt, the meals are fresh! My chicken was still sizzling hot when it was served to me. The kabob has chicken, bell pepper, and onion. Its served on a bed of rice with hummus, a small salad, pita wedges, and a piece of pineapple and I think an orange slice -- I wasnt hungry enough to eat it all so I might be wrong about that. At any rate, the season was well seasoned, tender, and cooked perfectly. The rice was rather bland. I thought the hummus was really smooth and tasty. For me, the pita was a little on the too chewy and tough side, but it still tasted pretty good with the hummus. My boyfriend enjoyed his gyro meat, saying the strips had enjoyable crispy edges with tender centers. He got tzatziki sauce instead of hummus, which went well with the gyro strips and pita, sort of a build your own gyro if you were so inclined. His plate was identical to mine except he got gyro meat strips instead of chicken on a kabob, and tzatziki instead of hummus. While Im not totally sure Id absolutely go out of my way to revisit Jamos, Id still happily return if I wanted something Mediterranean-ish while in the area. Id definitely like to try some of their smoothies, as those looked really fresh and yummy.
Hands down, best food in all of Huntsville. We had Chicken Kabob plates and a combo Chicken and Beef Kabob entree and not only did it taste delicious, but it was fresh. We had been to the restaurant before and the food was absolutely delicious, and so we had it again today and it didn t disappoint. Mohammed is awesome and friendly as well as the two young girls working behind the counter. Please allow me to say it agin....Best food in Huntsville!
Just wonderful!
Love this place. The meals they make are delicious and healthy. All come with fruit and salad for a fairly balanced meal. I really like the chicken, and the spanakopita!
STILL MY FAVORITE PLACE!!!!!
Great Burgers!
Good food. The best part was the mint sweet tea.
Had the spanakopita and lamb and kofta kabobs. It was all great! Will come back again.
Outstanding gyro!
For the price it was alright, nothing to brag about. Baklava was excellent! Overall building was a little run down that not to bad. Wasn t impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom after I ate though.
I love language, cultures and ethnic foods and colors. The sign was colorful and said Mediterranean so I pulled up but saw only one person seated at the far right. When I entered, there was no one there. So I figured the gentleman seated may have went into the rear. I called out several times with no answer and I know I saw someone. It was quite eerie so I departed and I concluded I wasnt welcome there.
Everything was good except for the spinach pies they were deep fried instead of baked
A Saturday evening, just after 7:00 pm. Google said open but we found it closed. No lights. No signage about status. Suggest you call ahead.
Its was my first time and it was good
Great food
Edited: The last few times we ve been, they ve been out of multiple items. And the quality isn t what we first experienced. Bummer. Original review: Fantastic! Tried it because of the great reviews. So happy to have finally found great Greek food in Huntsville!! We ll be back.
I havent been to Huntsville for years, but when I did I always went to Jamos. Heres what I said back then: A close friend of mine in Atlanta told me about Jamos. Ive been coming to Huntsville for 5 or 6 years, and I have been to Jamos over all of that time, once or twice a year, and I have never been dissappointed. How do you describe it? Its simple, its human, its not a franchise. Its Lebonese or middle Eastern, and its good. I have to travel often, and finding wholesome food is hard. For me, this place is great. Good coffee, great juices squeezed to order, and good Homus, Felafel, Kofta, and salad. And it isnt expensive, and the servings are for humans, not too big, and not too small. The ambiance is University student - fun. You mightnt go here before or after the opera, but hey... wheres the opera in Huntsville? Its good.
First time I had falafels. I unfortunately was not impressed..But the sides were alright.. This is only my opinion it isnt anything against the cafe.To each his on.
I came from Texas and I tried the falafel it was delicious. Thank you
Got the lamb and chicken kabobs and very much enjoyed them. The bread (pita? or naan?) plus the hummus is probably good if you like hummus. Will definitely want to try shrimp next time and hopefully they will have beef back on stock. If looking for something sweet they have smoothies and cappuccinos. Suggest the strawberry banana yogurt smoothie! They are small im space and workers it seems, so patience is needed for the food to come out, but it is fresh and the workers polite. I also would like to see that 85 health score get to 90 too.
Nice family owned joint
Very good food and friendly service. The restaurant is a little bit run down but they have a good health inspection rating and the food is not only well prepared, its also well presented.
Good food. Perfect size for lunch and always tasty.
Always delicious
Get either the lamb plate or the spicy chicken kabob!
Great Middle East food, friendly owner.
Best gyro, hummus, & baba ghanoush, and falafel in town
The food was tasty and beautiful, but there was more grass than food, a few spoons of rice and a few meat... Unfortunately, it s not clear whether I ate or just looked...
The food and drinks were excellent. The gentlemen who I believe is the owner was patient and friendly. This place is great!
they got a drive thru that you can order thru!
Very good service very good food 12/10
Tasty and seems authentic! I like their falafel a lot and eat here regularly. The owner is very nice and its pleasant to eat here. One of Huntsvilles better kept secrets.
Very good
Great food from great people. A wonderful family owned cafe.
Amazing authentic seasoned fresh food that took me back when I was in the Middle East 25yrs ago!! Definitely a Go to!!!
My man always recognizes me even if I havent stopped by for a month or two. Great place, clean, reasonably priced and superb food. you absolutely MUST have their baklava, they are hands down the BEST in town. You wont regret it.
Get service and even better food! Try to mango raspberry smoothie! One of the best in town!
Friendly people and good food!
Great food, service and prices.
Had the lamb kabob plate. It was fantastic and it was a lot of food. Price was very affordable.
The food is always delicious! It would be five stars if the cashier had been able to answer my question about the dessert ingredients.
First time visiting this restaurant. Food was great. Tasted fresh and flavorful. Service was pleasant and welcoming. Appears to be family own and operated. Definitely would go back for other dishes. Would recommend to others. Only downside for me is restrooms could use some love with a deep clean and fresh paint. Maybe fixture touch up. Wasn t gross looking, but during this pandemic makes one strongly consider cleanliness throughout. 3 1/2 stars for me overall rating for me.
Great family cafe serving juicy kabobs and more. Outdoor and indoor seating available.
Mediterranean food for you to get
Classic gyro is the best Ive had. Fries are great here too!
The falafel wrap was among freshest, cleanest, most satisfying food I ve ever had. The Tabouleh and Baklava were amazing. Can t wait to go back.
Ok food
Great Middle eastern food
Great lunch spot. Food is well priced, comes out quick!
Best local hidden gem in Huntsville! I have never had a bad meal here. Try every dish and prove me wrong! The owner is the nicest and most welcoming person Ive ever met! 10/5 stars!
Excellent kabob
They used to make really good classic Gyros but the last time it tasted nasty! I dont know if they had a new chef that just didnt know what he was doing, or gave me the wrong sandwich by mistake all I know is I havent been back!
Good food, great coffee and good people. Nice deck for eating outdoors.
I had their chicken kebab and lentil soup. Food was great, service was good. Would definitely come back to have more.
Best mid eastern food Ive had! Great owner and cook around! Hidden gem!
Always love the food here
Good Mediterranean food
Love this dish Beef and lamb
Good food
Simple, nothing fancy place, with good food, generous portions and friendly service.
It is nice and chill. The food is fresh and tasty. Family vibes! Nice outdoors area to enjoy as well!
Love this place! Great food, especially fond of the hummus.
Classic & tasty!
Ive been a customer of Jamos since the 90s and they will always be my favorite coffee shop in Huntsville, hands-down! The food is excellent, best hummus in the city. They deserve so much more business, Id love to see a revival. Give them a try!
Dirty
Shrimp is great. Gyros are okay. Prices are decent.
This was great and I think I may come here more often. They were very kind and the food was fresh and delicious.
Lamb kabob is worth going back for again and again. Fresh salad and fruit. Savory rice. Hand made desserts!
Great food, love the lunch specials, check them out...
Love this place. Been going there for years. Great food and service. Best coffes in town.
Jamos should be in the Pantheon of Huntsville restaurant institutions. Excellent Mediterranean inspired food. the gyros wrap is fantastic a delicious upgrade to the doughy pita. Spot on tabboulhi, baklava and taziki. Top notch smoothies to compliment.
My first time and they have delicious falafel and grilled chicken. Next on my list will be the lamb kabobs.
Always good. Nice variety, nice people.
How is this place not better known? Great gyro and fries, the taziki sauce is spot on, havent tried the coffee yet but was wowed by their coffee prices, and they grind their own in house. Cant wait to go back and explore more of the menu.
The food was really good. It tasted good , looked good, and was made in timely manner. There was only one man working the day I went. Not many people there, the bathroom and dining room were a little dirty. Not bad, but thats the only thing that really needed anything.
I had the chicken kabob plate and it was good. Soda was mostly ice and I dont know if you get refills. I wish they advertised about their grocery store down the down, which I didnt know about. Menus could be more descriptive (what comes with a plate? is a question that often comes up)
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Huntsville. They have by far the best falafel in town. The staff is really nice, and their smoothies are wonderful.
Great Mediterranean food.... Cant beat the gyros! Awesome coffee/espresso if your looking for that morning pick me up too!
Good food
Great food!
Really enjoyed my Vegan/Veggie meal. Great Flavor
Not a very good experience last week, it wasnt clean at all and the cook was coughing and hacking while preparing my food. In the past it was always good..
