200 West Side Square, Huntsville, AL 35801, United States
Homey locale offering traditional entrees, charcuterie & cheese boards, plus an extensive wine list.
Amazing experience overall. Food quality, portion sizes, service (special shoutout to Jessica for being amazingly kind and thoughtful), and atmosphere were all impeccable. Pictures include the burrata, plum, and prosciutto appetizer; grilled rack of lamb with parmigiana risotto and a red sauce with artichoke and broccolini; flourless chocolate cake; and zabaglione - an Italian custard with strawberries and white chocolate. Everything was delicious, as you can expect from a restaurant of this caliber. I strongly recommend trying new things because the way the chefs pair foods and tastes is genius.
We are from Canada, in Huntsville for a few days on our Great American South road trip. Exploring downtown and came upon this gem! We sat outside and listened to the waterfall and lovely music. We tried 0% cocktails and regular cocktails and shared their vegetarian entre. We've had fine food all over the world and this was fantastic. We didn't try many things because we didn't plan to eat at all but the menu seemed so interesting we had to try. Based on what we had, definitely worth a Michelin 2 IMHO. The service was as good as the food. Our server was so friendly and the timing was perfect.
Went for my Wife’s birthday. The food is probably the best in town in our opinion, and everything we had was delicious. We had a salad and tart flambé to start, and then the short rib ragu and shrimp and grits for entrees. Our only negatives were two things I’ll explain below, both we think could easily be corrected for a better experience for other guests. 1. We got stuck behind the hostess stand, which is not ideal for a birthday dinner. Not sure a table should even be there, it’s awfully close. 2. We ordered entrees really quickly after apps, even though we try to avoid that, but the server noted that she would space things appropriately, but we got our main entrees while we still had apps, which is a real disappointment to me when you’re paying for a $200+ dinner. I’d probably give a 3.5/5 if I could because of this, but I’m rounding up to a 4 because the food really is fantastic. The service was solid, but the little things matter when you’re having a nice meal, especially for a special occasion.
Had a good dinner with a friend on the patio in Fall, which was a great time to dine outside. Service was “okay”. Charcuterie was great. I had the boeuf bourguignon, and honestly my own version of Julia Childs recipe was much better. It was basically one big slab piece of chuck roast with gravy over potatoes. Maybe it was just an off night. May try again, may not. 🤷🏼♀️ since I’m guessing the menu changes.
From the gorgeous atmosphere to the constant changing menu Domaine South has proven their worthiness as one of the best restaurants in Huntsville. The Escargot was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had and the NY Strip dry aged steak was worth every penny. The service was phenomenal and the seating was made with love and care. I also had some of my partners short rib pasta and that was amazing! I can not believe it has taken me this long to try out Domaine South but I am glad I could say with certainty that this is one of the best you can have here in HSV.
We were here at lunch. The grilled mahi sandwich was good, although they put way too much sauce on it. It was dripping and I was constantly wiping the bread. It came with a side of slaw with so much vinegar that I only ate a few bites. The lamb burger was tasty, but needed more sauce. It was happy hour so wine prices were reasonable.
Great service and atmosphere with relaxed seating outside. Everything we had was fantastic. Highly recommend the sourdough stack with the herb butter, but also highly recommend it with almost any of the cheeses and meats. Some of the gamier meats goes better with the apples than grapes. I'd recommend particular menu items but they change daily based on seasonal availability. Tarte flambe was like a mini pizza, tasty and cute.
Domain South is an excellent restaurant in Huntsville, with the outside section overlooking Big Spring Park. The food is good (it’s my girlfriend’s favorite meal in Huntsville). We got the fried onions as an appetizer, I got the burger and fries, and she got the farmers market vegetable selection with grilled chicken. I recommend sitting outside if you can. Service was good and friendly. It's definitely a restaurant to try in Huntsville.
Beautiful and delicious!
Lovely low key restaurant/bar with a large wine selection and good charcuterie. Right next to Big Spring Park.
best ciuppino i ve ever had - sad i didn t take a pic before i devoured. 10/10 never had a bad meal here.
Excellent Beef bourguignon, I highly recommend.
Came in about 4 months ago and their health dept score was a 77! I turned around and was not going to come back but my friends invited me out for brunch this weekend... The score was better, to say the least, but its still an 88 . Not what you would expect from a upscale restaurant in downtown huntsville.
Great experience!!
Probably more than 4 star, but less than 5 star. Ice tea came in a plastic bottle Steak was good. Cheesecake was good, but expensive
Had dinner with a friend who lives in Huntsville while visiting. We ended up picking the place because of the extensive GF options, including a GF baguette you can get with the charcuterie! Ill start with the fact that our food was wonderful. The meatballs are gluten free! They were honestly big enough for a meal in themselves. We also ordered the duck fat frites, and I need to just buy a jar of curry ketchup for the house. I always forget how wonderful it is, and it perfectly complemented the fries, which were hot and crisp up on arrival at the table. We also ordered the Farmers market plate, which is just a whole bunch of roasted vegetables and absolutely delicious. Its a great balance to the heaviness of the apps we got. We ended the evening with the flourless chocolate torte, and it was superb. My Hugo spritzer was also crisp and refreshing. But heres where I shift to the service... The place was pretty busy, so our only options were at the bar or outside on the patio. We chose the patio because its finally cooling off a little bit and we love to eat outside! As others have said, the patio service was not great. Very long gaps between visits from our server and poorly timed food delivery. When we sat down, we needed a moment to look at the menu. We got water and decided and then waited. And waited. And waited. We actually ordered all three items and I believe our drinks other than water at the same time because it had been so long since we had seen our server. We sort of expected from a nicer restaurant that the timing would be spaced, especially given the very very tiny table we were sat at, but all of our food came out at the same time. Even the food runner struggled to help us fit everything on the table, and we still had not seen our server really since he had taken our order. When the food was deposited at the table, we discovered that we were missing the chicken we asked for on the farmers plate. We made the decision to just leave it off because all of the other dishes were so large, and Im glad we did. We left full and were able to eat dessert because of it haha. Our server came back a while after that ordeal was settled and then asked if we were missing some chicken. We had to go through the whole thing again saying that it was fine to leave it off. But we were already halfway done with the appetizers when he came by. A different food runner cleared our empty plates, and we were honestly about to walk inside to find our check and leave when our server finally came back and asked us if we wanted dessert. We had just enough time and decided to get some dessert but definitely asked for the check when he dropped off the dessert because we were not sure when we would ever see him again. We didnt even really look at the check; we just handed him our cards and asked him to split the check down the middle. We had a reservation at 8 we didnt want to miss. Honestly, a place she and I will definitely return when Im in Huntsville; however, we will definitely get a reservation and sit inside where the service will hopefully be much much better. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options!
So disappointed! Our go to place failed us completely. Food, waitress and Harold the manager 0/5. Save your money. This place is not what it used to be.
Me and my lady had a wonderful experience here last week! The staff and food were all top tier! 10/10!
Best burger in town.
Went just for drinks, this was our 2nd attempt at having an after dinner cocktail at this location. There was only one other couple this time and the bar wasn t full last time. The drinks were very standard, just had an amazing meal and cocktail at a nearby restaurant and honestly the is place can t compare. Looked at prices and saw I just ate a similar meal down the road at a fancier restaurant for less money and with higher quality ingredients. Service was slow for a place that wasn t busy. Tried again because the atmosphere and view is nice but I guess we will walk outside and enjoy food and drinks elsewhere.
I went here with my girlfriend and the staff were super friendly! The atmosphere was perfect and even heard some drama . The soup was perfect and even gave us a little extra, now that was quality service.
An exceptional dining experience, with great food and amazing service. Our waiter, Adam, was able to guide us through the menu, recommending an excellent wine to go with what we had ordered. He went above and beyond in terms of also providing us with recommendations of places to visit and get drinks in the area. Would readily go back again.
Caesar Salad with Sword Fish was surprisingly amazing. The staff was excellent and extremely friendly and helpful. The wine selection is extensive. Thanks Becca. I will be back.
Lovely place, good attention
Between the two of us, weve been here 5-6 times. Shout out to Chris, he was great! He suggested a Scarpetta to fit our budget and pair well with our meals. Braised short ribs ragu is a must try. Fab desserts as well, hoping they add the Restaurant Week dessert to their regular menu!
Visiting from out of town, our friends took us here because they had a good gluten free selection. I had the best bread Ive eaten since I was diagnosed with celiac disease seven years ago. The cheese board was delicious, my main meal was superb, everyone else was really happy with theirs too. 10/10 if I lived closer, Id be a regular. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free, ate safely.
Some of the best food in Huntsville. My husband had put on our reservation that we were there celebrating my birthday, that was not mentioned once. So probably won t be going back for anymore special occasions, but it was very delicious and lovely as always.
Being in the vicinity, thought Id check it out. Wasnt busy, 2-3 tables, tons of kitchen staff. Bartender female waited on me. Just wanted a to-go dessert. Didnt have but 30 minutes. Took 22 minutes to heat in the oven? Then, I saw one of the bar girls holding a drink at the top?! Ewwww. Used to be a Bartender, big no-no. Dont touch the place people put their mouths! Cute place, but since I wasnt having an alcoholic beverage, I wasnt important. It wasnt the one on the square downtown, but across the street from courthouse and down some stairs. It said Kitchen and Spirits
Spectacular! I would have date nights here overlooking the park everytime if we could. The food is out of this world. The waiters and waitresses are always super helpful and happy. Pleasant place to dine!
Food was fantastic - the menu rotates some items in and out but we haven t had anything bad yet, even down to the gluten-free crackers. The chicken was incredible and the service was even better. Very cozy atmosphere with the seating options and lighting
Great burgers and drinks.
This was our first visit , a group of 7 for a birthday party, we were seated by the window by the bar , our server Connor was fantastic, but the noise of I assume the air-conditioning on the roof was so loud , we could hardly have a conversation. Prices were a little high , but for a nice restaurant not too bad . PJV
We enjoyed our dinner at Domaine South but were disappointed by the service and some of the food. Specifically, if we are paying $100 per person we expect the server to be attentive and for someone to pour our drinks at the table for us. Neither should we have to wait more than five minutes for our server to check in on us at the end of our meal when we are looking to order desserts, then wait more than fifteen minutes for said desserts (which were both dishes prepared ahead of time). Additionally, when I am eating a gourmet cheesecake, I would expect the lemon juice used therein to be filtered... It was not. I was enjoying the lovely, velvety texture of the cheesecake when suddenly I realized the texture was not so velvety and the taste bitter... I had bitten into and chewed up a lemon seed that had been baked into the cheesecake. Not the best way to finish out our meal. And our server did not even come back to check in on us after the dessert and check were delivered. While the tart flambe, duck fat frites and steaks were all delicious, I found the Greek fishermans stew to lack any dimension of flavor or texture and the meals asparagus stringy and over cooked. The goat cheese cake would have been the highlight of my meal had there not been a lemon seed baked in which destroyed my pallet. All in all, we loved the atmosphere and are excited to try the charcuterie boards when we return but were wholly disappointed in the service and the minor details of some dishes.
Exceptional! If you appreciate craft products and dedication to food as an art this place is for you. Artisan cheeses. Craft cocktails. You know it s good when the whipped cream has been hand whipped. The atmosphere is Bohemian Parisian and takes me back to Montmarte with portraits on the wall.
My parents and I popped in before a comedy show and shared a phenomenal meal with excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. We happened upon Le Petit Bijou before a wine tasting, and the sweet folks there sent us across the street to the larger Domaine South location. The restaurant itself is tucked under a larger building on the square - if you dont know where to look, you might miss it! That said, the location makes it feel removed from the bustle outside. The interior is eclectic and comfortable - upscale without being pretentious. We were lucky to get a table on a Friday afternoon; I noticed many of the tables in the restaurant were reserved. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time to ensure there is room for your party. Our server, Ryan, was kind, patient, and very helpful. He offered several drink and food suggestions, several of which we followed. We had a few happy hour drinks and ordered the baked oysters and duck fat fries as starters. The duck fat fries were great, but the oysters were out of this world. For entrees, we had a ribeye, baked scallops, and the marinated venison. The venison was the best preparation of this meat Ive ever had. It takes skill to prepare venison in a way that doesnt make it taste game-y, and the chefs definitely did just that. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The mixed vegetables and squash puree accompanying the cut were a lovely addition to the dish. We appreciated that many of the ingredients used in the menu items were locally sourced. Overall, we had an incredible meal for a very reasonable price and would definitely return again and again to see what new creations the chefs dream up. Thank you for having us. Parking: There is limited street parking around the square and on the streets near the restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not notice whether it was free or paid - likely paid. There is a paid parking garage that isnt too far of a walk. We paid only $2 for the time it took to have our meal and walk back to the garage.
Great meal, not attended to as well as our table thought we should have been. Nothing egregious, but not what you expect from the price tag.
My husband and I at here tonight for the first time. We won t go back. It is way over priced. I order the market plate. The vegetables were overcooked. The service was not good. We did not enjoy our evening out.
I went three times in two week on a work trip in Huntsville because the place overall was phenomenal. Not only was the food incredible but every staff member I interacted with was kind, very knowledgeable with the menu and had great recommendations. The atmosphere was cozy yet refined. Of the times I went, I had two different charcuterie boards and their beef bourguignon, which was amazing. Ryan recommended a fabulous cabernet that went very well with the bourguignon. Very much enjoyed each meal I had here and plan on returning next time Im in town.
I came here with friends the other night, we made a reservation for 8pm. I have a lot of food allergies, but we decided to get a charcuterie to split and I ordered a separate salad. We asked for everything to be out at the same time. We got the charcuterie but no salad, waited 30 minutes and we couldn t find the server to ask about it. It was slowing down around 9pm and still couldn t find him. When he finally came the charcuterie was finished, and he said the salad would be right out. At that point everyone was ready to head to the next bar reservation so I asked him to cancel and he huffed and puffed, said fine. And went to go get the checks. When he came back he said I hope you know the salad isn t going to waste, I m taking it home with me tonight to eat SO RUDE. I was starving and couldn t help not being able to eat off the board (anaphylactic to nuts and am celiac) We left and ended up going to The Martin so I could order another salad and ended up having dinner at 10:45PM. Want to come here again, but not with that server that s for sure .we were all shocked and disappointed.
One of my all time favorite restaurants in Huntsville. The food is always amazing and the service matches. You will not be disappointed dinning at Domaine South.
Liz was the best!!
Ryan was a tremendous server and took care of our group immensely well. He helped us navigate the menu and gave great recommendations. The food was great as were the cocktails.
They left the tail on my ribeye which made me VERY happy. Most butchers cut off the best part. I got to sit outside and eat steak and drink cheap happy hour wine. What more do I need? The wine selections were great.
A must restaurant for a pleasant atmosphere, incredible healthy food, and service that pays attention to detail. If you are wanting healthy foods and avoiding seed oils, you have to try this establishment! It s hard to find something extremely healthy and this restaurant comes as close as it gets. There s always room to improve with organic ingredients, but I ve not found many restaurants as close as this. The farmers plate is a MUST dish to order!!!
Food
This is my favorite restaurant in Huntsville. The menu changes, and the food is special. Last time I went I had the vegetable plate, and it was so good. I cant wait to go back. The vibe is Bohemian and comfortable.
Started off my foodie journey here! Simply amazing!! I was not expecting to have the best burger of my life! The escargot was fabulous! Definitely a must go! Later foodies
Vegetarian options: Farmers vegetable plate was great Food
We went in for dinner on Saturday night. It was so good that we came back for brunch on Sunday!
Love it here. Best place in town for a date night. Food is great, drinks are amazing.
Perfect spot for date night charcuterie and cocktails.
Very nice innovative restaurant in Huntsville, besides full flavors I was surprised how cheap it is. There, ramoulad on the artichoke was superb, quailswas juicy, although a little bit too salty the drinks were great.
One of my favorite places in this city to eat. Im a big fan of their charcuterie board options!
So delicious! We didn t have a reservation, but that s okay because we sat outside on the patio. Staff is very friendly and always checking on our table. Will recommend to friends and family! The crab cakes are super good!
The South Domain is extraordinary! We created our own charcuterie board which included Nueske s Smoked Sliced Duck, the Gouda, Cow s Milk Cheese, the Cheek Terrine, and Spanish Fig Jam. The smoked duck was divine! Le Domaine Sud gives you a sense of cozy, home-like familiarity, or should I say Domaine South gives you a sense of cozy, home-like familiarity. Other things may change us, but we start and end as a family. English Translation: Other things can change us, but we start and end like family. Gorgeous!
Favorite restaurant in town
Took our youngest out for his 22nd birthday and Domaine South did not disappoint. Everything from the service to the entree and then dessert was outstanding! Rusty was a great server, very personable but not overly interrupting. He knew exactly when we needed something. We will definitely visit again.
The food was great and I look forward to going again however our waiter was cold, and felt somewhat annoyed whenever we asked for clarification or recommendations. At the end, we asked all alcohol be put on a separate ticket and he simply split the check ignoring our request. Hopefully next time we have a better server.
The absolute best gluten free meal I ve EVER, and I mean ever eaten out!! I had the chicken breast and my husband had the venison that he said was the best meal he s ever had out as well. We sat at the bar and Perry was very kind and knowledgeable and would definitely sit at the bar again! If you have tried this hidden gem it s a must especially if you have a gluten allergy. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options
I live outside of downtown so Ive not had a chance to get here until recently. What a great dining experience, very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Domaine South is a must visit .
Took my friend for her birthday lunch. We were seated right away at a lovely table by the window which overlooks Big Spring Park. We had a nice server but service was a bit slow at first. We werent in a hurry but very hungry and it wasnt busy. Overall the meal was timed well once we got drinks. I had the best burger ever. My friend had baked oysters and toasted sourdough bread. We split a salad with pear, brie and spring mix &fab vinaigrette. Will be back soon.
This is for Le Petit Bijou-part of Domain South) My favorite restaurant in Huntsville! From the food to the wine to the presentation and serving ware, everything is amazing and such a vibe!!! They serve their soup in vintage coffee cups..(nostalgia ) and they re right in the middle of downtown. We love taking our dog and eating breakfast on the weekends and have gone for lunch several times. Theyre not over priced like some of those places downtown can be. They re the best. Take my word for it.
Food in my opinion was not great for the price. Really disappointed. They have 2 separate location. The area with the glass doors has 2 separate rooms. That was cool .
Cute little spot located in downtown Huntsvile. Food is amazing and they have a huge wine selection. Ive been told their breakfast is top notch and hope to try it soon. Outdoor seating is available. Highly recommend!
First time for lunch. The food is fantastic at lunch! Best sandwiches we ve had in a very long time. Super busy but the cashier never hesitated to fill you glass back up with water. We will continue to be patrons at this restaurant.
Stopped by on a whim and was blown away. The food service and atmosphere were amazing.
5 star place for a 5 star man. Amanda was mediocre at best.... just kidding she is phenomenal
Simply Exquisite Dining and Drink. Kristine is a great waitress! Food reminds of Michelin 2star dining I have had in various spots living in Europe. They source their ingredients. This place is head and shoulders above some of the older restaurants in downtown. Most highly recommended.
I had the rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly but the seasoning just wasnt there. The potatoes were also very good but packed in flavor as well. If you dont have a reservation then you can expect about an hour wait so plan ahead.
A great find for a fine meal!
Everything that comes out of the kitchen is delicious. Kristian is incredible, and sure to find you a wine youll like. Cocktails are on point at the new location and the view of Big Spring Park is gorgeous. This is still our favorite spot in Huntsville.
We had a great experience. The charcuterie board was great and our server Rustyn was amazing.
This place has one of the best atmospheres of any place I have been. The wait staff is superb, the food is wonderful, and bar drinks are unique and well-made. The decor is so inviting. I was visiting a friend and I hate that this is not a weekly stop for me.
Loved the vibe. My scallop and Uby pairing was exceptional. Enjoyed the view of Big Spring Park.
Good food, pricey but good. Great service!
I come here often and always get a great service. The food is on point and priced reasonably for the quality. I would make it my garde-manger if I could! Also their patio is wonderful, I dont even understand why people would eat inside most days...
I am from out of town. We stopped by with friends from Huntsville. Great little place to drink wine and nibble. Kyle was great in his service and knowledge of the menu. All around great visit.
Excellent menu! Changes with the seasons and availability. Always delicious and creative. Love sitting on the patio for lunch!
Favorite place in Huntsville. Service and food are always top tier!
High end, downtown eatry.
Went for lunch on Friday. Not very busy and nice menu.
I cant believe I hadnt heard of this place sooner! I love a good charcuterie and that is Domaine Souths specialty. A friend recommended it, and I was excited to try. The menu can be slightly overwhelming, but what I ordered was delicious. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare with a fantastic housemade steak sauce. The duck frites were not overpowering, which paired well with the housemade condiments. And the charcuterie board was surprisingly filling. The rustic ambiance really accented the presentation of the food. The service was wonderful. I definitely recommend and look forward to trying more of their menu.
Great spot to enjoy a cold drink.
Lousy and at times unwelcoming service from Chris, and items missing from entrees... Seems unlike this restaurant, and I even made a special trip for a birthday meal. Might visit again in the future, the Instagram feed is always inciting!
I LOVE the environment and service at Domaine South. The location at the park is incredible. I wish they had more vegan options on the menu, but the vegetarian plate is good, and I love the drinks and vibe for date night. They are super accommodating if I ask for something to be changed re my dietary preferences. The food is fresh and, I believe, locally sourced where possible. Every time Im there, I feel like it is clear that there is a lot of love for what they do emanating from the entire team...
Easily the best restaurant in Huntsville, AL. + Warm, welcoming atmosphere. + Professional, knowledgeable staff. + Delicious food & wine.
Unique and delicious dishes, along with creative cocktails! Vegetarian options: Can easily get dishes without the meat usually included. Food : 5/5 |
One of my favorites in Huntsville. Great location, great service, great food/drinks. I have never been upset with the food here.
We had high hopes for our visit here but it was remarkably underwhelming. The menu read really well but what was received didn t depict the words. We came on a Friday around 2pm for a late lunch. We made reservations at 1:45pm and were allowed to pick inside our outside dining. The indoors was so incredibly smoky that my eyes started to water immediately when entering and all three of us could visibility see and smell the smoke. I m not sure what that s about but having to sit in or around a smoke stack is very unpleasant. Our waitress was rather unresponsive the entire time, even as we dined at the tail end of lunch service. We didn t need much so that s not the issue but based off the prices, it s expected to receive better service. Our group got the happy hour vermouth, old fashioned, and german beer. I order the crab cake for an appetizer which was the best thing I ate there. The breading is light and reminded me of a hushpuppy crust. There was plenty of lump crab inside. The coulis missed the mark a little and I couldn t tell if the roasted peppers were from a can or not. Regardless, the crab cake (ball) shined on its own. Two of our guests got the french dip and fries or beef stew as a side. They both really loved it. The fries were delicious and hot. The dipping sauces were really good too. My meal was scallops in the weirdest perpetration I ve ever seen. The side of mashed potatoes was served cold, not intentionally. The three slices of squash were well seasoned and the only hot part of my $35 plate. The scallops were room temperature at best. Served in a weird sauce that made it look really unappealing. The dish was topped with bland chunks of old bread what didn t add to the dish at all and were promptly picked off. I really wanted to return the dish but as a former chef I didn t have the heart to do it and the waitress waited until nearly the end of the meal to check on us. I would personally not come back here. Although it s probably one of the better restaurants in Huntsville, it really was overpriced and underwhelming for the experience.
The food is always excellent, and I love the view that you can enjoy from the dining room or from the terrace. Ill definitely be back!
Amazing service and great food!
Good service and drinks
Great food and great location!
Had the Mississippi rabbit 2 ways. The food was good and beer and wine selection a treat.
$178 mistake
The food was good but nothing special. The $21 hamburger was definitely not worth it and the ketchup was especially awful, if you can even call it ketchup. The only thing worse than the ketchup was the service I dont know if this was due to the fact that we were a party of six meaning there was a 20% gratuity automatically added but our server was not attentive at all. Worst of all, we told him we were ready to order and he said that he would come back in 2 minutes and then didnt show up for another 10. Overall we are just really disappointed in the service and the price for the quality
Hosts go above and beyond to seat you if you have a preference. We bring guests from out of town regularly because we know theyll have a great meal and a great experience with the wait staff. Update on 13 May. Just as good as always Recommended dishes
Great food and atmosphere. French dip might be the best Ive had. And farmers plate was wonderful.
The food was SO yummy (a big understatement) and all of the little plants inside were so cute I had so much serotonin after leaving there this place should be prescribed as an anti-depressant 10/10 recommend. (Shoutout to our server Jerry)
Great food, service, and views of Big Spring Park. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our lunch of appetizers at Domaine South. The weather was very pleasant, so we dined outside on the wooden picnic tables. The waiter brought us chilled water in a wine bottle and provided short glasses which were unusual and held very little. We were not put off by this as he provided multiple bottles. The menu was somewhat unusual, and we enjoyed this, and wish to return. You may choose your own selections of cheese and meat, a charcuterie board, essentially. Fruit was also offered. Other selections included steak seafood hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. The french fries are fried in duck fat which makes for a delectable experience; very crispy and warm. The potatoes were fresh and cut on the premises. We enjoyed the frites, mushrooms on toast, and a tortilla with preserves, cheese and sprouts. The latter was a bit small and over- priced at $15.00. Generally, we enjoyed our outdoor meal but felt we overpaid for our fare. We will return, however, to choose again from the unusual menu. Oh...beer, wine and cocktails are available.
Excellent restaurant with great wine selection. The scallops were excellent and the rest of our party enjoyed their dishes. Would recommend.
Solid date night spot. Drinks on point, atmosphere is Huntsville, food was OK. Burger looked good and I wish I would have ordered. Fish was over and side are nothing more than that. Will go back for sure, but probably for the board or burger and drinks
The deviled eggs are seriously good. Such a great appetizer! Good wine list for Happy Hour. Non-pretentious, but knowledgeable wait staff. Id recommend a reservation. Its a tiny place, & they fill up fast. 2022 update: Theyve moved to the coolest location on the Huntsville Square: A tiny bar (includes outside patio) overlooking Big Spring Park East. Theyve managed to quiet the din of the Irish pub that used to be in this new space. Menu even better. Terrific happy hour spot -- but youll want to stay for dinner! 2023 update: Definitely get a reservation. People are finding out about this place.
Fabulous food, terrific staff, and delicious drinks! Original cocktails worth stopping in to try. A must-visit in downtown Huntsville. The best view of Big Spring Park! UPDATE: Now there is an amazing event room that is perfect for private gatherings.
I don t care to leave a public review. I find them to be unnecessary and unproductive. However, if you give me an email address, I would love to share my experiences with you over my last two visits. I will always give fair credit, with compliments and shortfalls. I would much rather do that than not returning for a new experience.
My first time in Le Petit Bijou by Domain South today and I will definitely be back! I had the grilled cheese with farmer s market tomato vegetable soup and my husband had the roast beef sandwich. I have never had a grilled cheese with onion jam but it was great! Fun decor and large wine selection.
This could be one of the best spots in downtown Huntsville if their service wasn t so terrible. Every time I ve been here at lunch time, it takes AT MINIMUM 45 minutes to get your food. Today, we (a party of 4) went back WITH a lunch reservation and when we sat down, there was 3 other tables seated out of the entire place and those 3 tables were couples, not large parties. It took 50 MINUTES from the time we sat down to the time we finally got our food, which had to be plated in to-go boxes because we were on our lunch hour. I ve yet to have a server here that even looks like they re trying. It s unfortunate because the food itself is normally really good. Unfortunately, I had to eat mine cold at my desk today.
Probably my favorite restaurant in town. When friends come to visit HSV, this is where I take them. Great place for happy hour, lunch or dinner. Consistently good.
There are TWO locations: Restaurant & Cheese Shop (Le Petit Bijou). Both serve a wide selection of wine & wonderful food. We enjoyed BBQ duck at Le Patit & a build your own cheese board at restaurant. The staff at both locations were very helpful with wine selections. Photos are of the restaurant location that over looks Big Spring park. Highly recommend for a nice date night or girls night.
The Tarte Flambé was excellent. The scallops and Farmer s Market Plate were tasty. The view and atmosphere are great. We would definitely come bac!
OK. I really enjoyed this place. The service was great. The food was exceptional and the drinks were above par. The Old Fashioned was in my top five in Huntsville. It reminds me of Old Fashioneds Ive had at SiP and Blaque. I was told the menu changes often. So, Ill definitely be back. The restaurant is located perfectly downtown. After a delicious meal, we took a walk through Big Spring Park. What a Perfect Night!
Vegetarian options: Great food, great service Food
We had a couple of glasses of wine and a cheese board during happy hour and what a great experience. We sat at the outside bar area that opened up to the inside of the restaurant. Fabulous service from the bartenders and a nice selection of happy hour beverages.
Every bite was delectable. Savory. Definitely not a place to go if youre in a rush. Because you want to eat slowly and enjoy every bite.
On Tuesday 25 July 2023, the restaurant was very busy. Drinks were great but the food not so much. We did not have a chance to order entrees, so after receiving burnt toast with our escargot, we left and ate elsewhere. Getting an appetizer and a check took an hour and a half.
Domaine South is a very nice and laid back restaurant that has killer food. I had the scallops dinner and my girlfriend had the Halibut. Both were delicious. The before dinner cocktails were very good as well. We will definitely be back again. For any kind of special lunch or dinner (Birthday this time) this place is highly recommended.
Food was great! Service was good but our server seemed overwhelmed. The atmosphere was really good.
Food was amazing, had the scallops French style. Service was great table wasn t ready quite yet; we showed up just before or reservation. They made a spot for us at the bar and then we re quickly seated to our table. Staff was friendly and attentive highly recommend.
Very nice wine, cheese and charcuterie bar.
Always a fantastic place.
Recommended by a Huntsville native and it didnt disappoint. The grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich was delicious and my colleague said the burger may be one of the best hes ever had.
Private event was absolutely perfect in every way. Food and staff were A+.
Ambience is pleasant. Menu seems innovative, forward but what you get falls woefully flat. They try too hard to produce something interesting, but cant pull it off. (How do you mess up a BLT? Stack shaved ham on it, 2 slices of bacon...) DM just cant pull it off. (Safest bet: charcuterie boards) Our eyes and nose were stinging because of cooking in the kitchen. Our waitress said it was a onetime event as someome carmelized some onions. Later, I read an older post where someome complained of the same issue.... (We chose the smaller location on the town square.) My tomato soup was like a chunky, tasteless salsa. Campbells does a better job.
Service was extremely slow, paid way too much for a charcuterie board easily replicable with a 10 minute trip to the grocery, staff was unfriendly/tired.
A lovely little brasserie in Huntsville. Full of southern charm and excellent food, you wont be disappointed.
This is one of those places I would try again, but I d request a different waiter. Our waiter was just attentive enough to get us through our meal and that s it. The couple behind us had excellent service with a super friendly guy waiting on them. If we make it back, I ll request him. The food my husband got the French dip with duck fat fries. The fries were probably the best I ve ever eaten. My dish was subpar, leaving me extremely dissatisfied. I had the pan seared chicken over mashed potatoes and it wasn t a good choice. The flavor was lacking, and my mashed potatoes were crunchy and flavorless. Again, I would try it again but next time with different service and a different meal choice.
Delicious food and impeccable service!
I frequent both locations and am satisfied every time. Their customer service is always top-notch, and their food is always delicious. Pro tip: Dont sleep on the burger its one of the best in the city.
Amazing local restaurant with a classy, sophisticated, and relaxed atmosphere. Great wine selections and charcuterie to match!
Daniel was an excellent server tonight! We had a cocktails, charcuterie board, entrees and dessert. The cocktails were unique and very delicious. All the food was very fresh and tasted great. This is a great little date night spot. Only complaint was it can get a bit loud if they are super busy or have large groups. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly
Loved the grilled chicken sandwich with caramelized onions, brie & apples! Topped it off with a Ranch Water...uhmmmm good!
Very nice cheese board.
Delightful lunch with the girls. Excellent food and friendly service.
Fast service, comfortable atmosphere with outdoor seating, and great location!
We were visiting Huntsville for my dads 65th birthday and had his special celebratory dinner at Domaine South. The meal was one of the best Ive had in a long time - excellent menu, great cocktails and wonderful service. But the service got even better when I left my credit card behind and headed back home (out of town). Hostess Laura Hansen went the extra mile to mail my credit card to me - a serious life saver. This is perfect example of how this team goes above & beyond for their guests.
Service is TERRIBLE! Tried to get in touch 5+ times to book an event here and kept being told we will be in touch. Kristian even told us that she would call on a certain day to schedule a time for us to come in and talk about our event since they are unresponsive in emails (the excuse for not getting a response for 3 weeks was it s been really busy the past 2 days ). That day came and went and we still have yet to hear anything. Needless to say, the service is very poor and we won t be giving this small business any more business
I am a little surprised by the reviews for this establishment. Maybe we caught them on an off day? The food was just ok; there was nothing I would go back for. Perhaps it was what we ordered; my husband and I got sandwiches. The service was nothing that stood out; our waiter was not very personable or attentive. However, the vibe is pretty cool, the location is excellent, and the view is nice.
Firstly, thank you so much for being accommodating to my elderly mother s sodium restriction! What you don t see on the back side of that is how traumatic it was to our family when her heart failure was at its worst, and every bit of restaurants helping is that much more compassionate. Secondly, the food and ambience is so lovely here. It s elevated without being pretentious, and reasonably priced for the quality. A great spot to come have a calming meal full of flavor. Truly might be my favorite restaurant in Huntsville now Dietary restrictions: Chefs helped reduce salt where possible
Delicious mushroom toast!
Have you ever had an experience so exquisite and delightful that you blow past deep admiration and fall into anger? The meal was so good I told my server that I wanted to fight the kitchen. Because honestly how dare they?? How am I supposed to go back to eating food prepared myself. Dearest reader, pay attention to me right now, they had a seasonal cheese available on the menu that I have wanted to try for actual years. Rogue River Blue. It s like the only American cheese to ever win this big award for like best cheese in the world. And Domain South had it. The wine selection was overwhelming, but my server was very knowledgeable and guided me to the perfect petnat to complement my entire meal. I had the scallops, and my husband had the steak. Both were cooked perfectly. I had the lemon goat cheese cheesecake and he had the chocolate crème brûlée. I m not being hyperbolic, everything was perfect. this restaurant is life-ruiningly perfect.
It is always a wonderful experience. The food is all delicious. Last night we got a large assortment charcuterie, baked oysters, and Glühwein. Conner, our waiter, was knowledgeable of the food, thoughtful towards my allergies, and very kind. I apologize for not catching their names, but multiple other Domain South team members also came by and checked on us and brought my dog a bowl of water. We sat next to an outdoor heater and could see all of the Tinsel Trail (Christmas decorations downtown) from our table. I previously have brought multiple family members and friends here when they visit and they all love Domain South. Dietary restrictions: I have a tomato allergy and they were very careful to alter dishes for me.
One of my favorite Huntsville spots. The charcuterie and wine are always on point, but the burger usually steals the shows. Friendly staff and an exceptional atmosphere in downtown Huntsville.
I had a good burger and beer. Other members of our party had salad and fries which both were good. The ambiance is great with a view of the park! Prices were normal for upscale dining.
One of my favorite restaurants in Huntsville. The outdoor patio is charming with its view of the park green space and the French bistro tables and chairs. The charcuterie options are plentiful and you can select enough for a meal or just enough to nosh with a glass of wine. Offering almost a dozen cheeses, meats (the champagne pate is my favorite), figs, olives, cornichons, baguette, sliced apples and pears, and jam - it is a feast. They also offer entrees that are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. And dont miss out on the baked radishes - divine. The waitstaff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable on food and wine pairings and the owner is usually present and checking on guests. This restaurant is the closest to a European bistro or cafe Ive found stateside. Be sure to call for reservations in advance.
Lovely wine and delicious food...
Such a classy place. But if you just want something quick and in a purple cup, they ve thought of that too. Ask for the Tarte Flambé. Trust me!
The new digs are so beautiful, and the outside dining views have to be the best in town. Exciting wine, thoughtful food, and attentive service, all perfectly executed. Wish they were closer.
Had an evening out with friends, so we had a good time, but I really cant agree with all of the spectacular reviews. First of all, the service was slow. We were seated for over 30 minutes before the server came to take our drink orders. Our server was nice and attentive enough, but the tempo of service did not pick up after that. The drinks were good, but all of our food were just ok, not spectacular like everyone is saying. My soup was overly sour...maybe it is supposed to be like that? I wanted to add pepper, but there was no salt or pepper on the table. The bread that came with the soup was good. I sampled the charcuterie that our table ordered. It was visually very appealing, but flavor and texture was just ok. I ordered the beef cheek. Portion size was small, and it was overly salted. It was equivalent to my wifes pot roast at home, but overly salted. My friend picked up the tab, so I cant comment on the price. Overall, I would go back again with friends, but I doubt I will go there alone with just my wife. Update: So we did go back again with friends. And what I said the last time still applies, except service was EVEN slower if that is even imaginable. Overall....My wife and I agreed that we would never go back again...even with friends.
Sat at the bar. Food was good but had excellent service and conversation with Perry the bartender. Outstanding service, will visit the next time I can.
The dining was spectacular. We ordered one of the cheese boards and added two extras. We couldnt eat it all. We tried. So good. Then the wait person told us about the available desserts. We shared a peach puree goat cheese cheesecake. OMG. Who knew your taste buds could do a happy dance?
My husband and I had a nice dinner here. We had a very helpful waiter who helped us order charcuterie and then he helped us find wine that would go with our order and that we would like. The atmosphere is laid back and there is enough noise that you can have a conversation at your table and not be overheard by anyone in the room.
Excellent food, very friendly & attentive server.
Great gluten-free options Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options
The food was delicious and everyone was so welcoming. I loved the ambiance and the live performance. I highly recommend giving Domaine South a try.
Arrived for a reservation at 7.30 on a Saturday. After sitting down we waited for an hour for a small charcuterie board, which arrived with incorrect and missing items. The server did not notice and was slow to correct the order when we had already waited for an hour. Overall generally terrible service and then when the bill came we were charged for an item that we had ordered but were told when the order arrived that they were out of. The one redeeming feature was that the food and wine was good once it arrived, but that in no way made up for the appalling service and wait time for a simple charcuterie board.
This was such a experience for all 18 of us !!! Great service! Super wine carte, good prices, great atmosphere, clean place. It s more then recommended to go.
This restaurant is incredible. We came with a big party and not a single complaint. Extensive wine list and great food.
Not impressed, not sure what the hype is about.
Really cool place, right off from Big Spring Park and just a flight of stairs down from the square. Its kind of hidden but that only adds to the charm. I dig the indoor/outdoor bar and the inside asthetic is upscale but still very approachable. The same can be said for the menu. I took my 13 and 5 yr olds for an afternoon lunch and they both were equally as pleased with the selection as I was. I see some afternoons on the patio in the sunshine in our future. We had some devilled eggs, duck fat fries and a couple Chef chosen meats and cheeses to start. The eggs had a nice mix of goat cheese and came with a killer hot sauce, duck fat fries are always a treat for the kids and the Chef hit a home run with the cheese board. For our entrees, my older son had the French Dip Sandwich and the younger daughter shared the duck confit rissoto with me. The duck had incredibile flavor and my son said the same about his sandwich. This place is a total Huntsville standout for sure!
The food and drinks were spectacular. Would 100% recommend.
Expensive.. good food
Nice cozy and friendly place....little expensive for my taste. I ordered salad, which leaves were too way big and not fresh.
Rustyn was the best server. Delicious food
I arrived late in Huntsville from a long day of travel and Jake and his team welcomed my client and me with welcome arms despite the kitchen closing in short order. Not only did they stay open for us but the service, food and vibe were excellent. Amanda toured us through the menu, both food and drinks, and graciously allowed us to take our time and not rush us out. Many thanks to their entire team and I will certainly recommend anyone visiting Huntsville to check them out. Cheers to next time!
The food and atmosphere was really nice. Got a gift certificate from some of my coworkers. We had not been before to Domaine South. It is worth going to check it out. Custom order your charcuterie board with multiple kinds of meat and cheese. The entrees are really flavorful. We have to go back to check out more. I had the French Dip. She had the venison steak. We shared the charcuterie board. Wow. So good. Make sure to go down the spiral stair near the spring for the best view. They havent changed the sign yet but it says Big Spring Tavern.
Great food, great location. Definitely a nice date spot in Huntsville. Food is a little pricey but very good! The charcuterie board was enough for a table of 10. Great drinks!
Delicious breakfast and amazing waiter! I Am from out of town but would come back here in a flash.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
A cozy setting with eclectic decor and an extensive wine, cheese and charcuterie selection. The new 3-course prix fix, complete with wine pairings, is simply excellent. Each portion of the meal came at a perfect pace, and we were able to enjoy every bite (and sip!).
First time customer. Had excellent recommendation from a colleague and we were not disappointed. Had the a small charcuterie board and prix fixe menu. Just wow! Wish I lived close by and not from out of town because I would frequent this establishment regularly. The food, wine and cocktails were absolutely amazing! The atmosphere and decor were wonderful for a nice relaxing evening meal. Just say enough.
Just yummy. They have venison medallions. The staff is informative and super nice too. Wines and cocktails are unique too!
Honestly my go to spot for dinner in hsv. Gorgeous boards and great vibes.
Only bar worth a darn in Huntsville. Bartenders are the best thing about this place. Nicest people in town. Servers were just as friendly. Charcuterie and drinks were top notch. This will be the only spot in town I will go back to.
Exquisite in all respects, great food and service and surprisingly decent prices for what youre getting. Visit at all costs
The dishes and staff were nice - I would especially recommend the charcuterie board! Unfortunately, we had to wait 30 min for our reservation and were rushed out from the restaurant at the end of the evening.
