Mazzara's Vinoteca in Huntsville

My Ossa Buco was excellent. The ravioli in a pesto cream sauce of sorts had too much sauce for the amount of pasta and the ravioli noodle was thick enough to not be fully cooked. The desert was excellent. Wine recommendations by the server were excellent. The server also knew the menu exceptionally well. The PEI mussels were very good, but I was wondering why they went with chorizo instead of a spicy Italian sausage.

Excellent food, excellent staff.

Waited 30 minutes to get our table that we had reserved. Focaccia was hard. Pasta over cooked. Seafood cioppino had overcooked lobster and a few bad mussels. Dessert was decent. Update: We decided to try this place out again. This time we were immediately seated which was nice. We got the olives as an appetizer which was good and then for mains we got the meatballs and the rigatoni. They were just okay.

I celebrated my birthday at Mazzaro s with my aunt, and it was a wonderful experience! Our server, Patrick, was incredibly thoughtful, sweet, and attentive. He carefully listened to my dietary restrictions and provided excellent recommendations. To make the occasion even more special, he brought us champagne to celebrate my birthday such a kind and caring gesture! The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were all very friendly. The food was fantastic I especially loved the baked Rigatoni and tiramisu. Overall, it was an unforgettable evening. Thank you to the team at Mazzaro s for making my birthday so special!

I was once a sous chef at Bottega in Bham. Tonight I had some of rhe BEST Italian food Ive ever had...including anything I ever made at the top of my game. Our server Keith really took care of us. Atmosphere is both modern and old school charm. Prices are very reasonable too. Parking: Free parking garage right across the street

Excellent food! Amazing service that didn t feel forced - very natural. Prices are very manageable for the experience you get. Shrimp Scampi was to die for. Haley our server took wonderful care of us and Patrick assisted with filling our waters and chatting with us about how we liked our dishes. Wonderful date environment - delicious food.

Came here for my 6 month wedding anniversary. I asked if they could write it on a note and have it there when we got there but they did one even better and brought a plate out at the end with that written on it. Great Food and Service. Our waiters name was Elijah, went above and beyond to make a great experience.

Great experience. Top notch service. Paccheri Pasta was phenomenal paired with Malbec. The Humphrey-Rogers house is such a cool historic piece re-purposed.

Service and food were great. Our server was so kind and went above and behind to ensure our satisfaction. We tried a variety of things - PEI Mussels, Meatballs & Pasta, Shrimp Scampi, Mushroom Risotto, Tiramisu, Lemoncelli Cake, Lemon Cheesecake, Chocolate Genache Brownie and some wine flights. The only downside of our visit was it was a bit noisey amongst the bigger group of diners that we shared the dining room with. We were a small group, a table of 3, so it was kinda difficult to hear one another and our server.

Will be our go to Italian restaurant. Food was phenomenal. The staff here is also amazing. Pita the bartender was great and made our dinner so much more enjoyable. We walked in with no reservation and sat at the bar, which turned out to be a good choice . My wife loved the selection of special wines. The old historic house turned restaurant was unique. Will be back.

The service and atmosphere were great. Patrick was our waiter. He was very attentive and nice. The food was a disappointment. The sun dried tomato focaccia bread had zero flavor. We ordered shrimp scampi and Salmon for entrees. The Salmon was bland despite the toppings. The scampi was mediocre.

We had a table for two upstairs. The other two tables were 6 and 8 very loud people. Don t put two people in the same small room with two large groups. Needed more servers. Food wasn t as good as it has been in the past.

Second time at Mazzaras. It is a very good restaurant. The food is delicious and rivals any meal we had in Italy. The setting is an elegant casual setting. The service is very professional and helpful, Patrick our waiter definitely adds greatly to the dining experience. One of the top three or four restaurants in Huntsville.

I paid $37 for the fish special, and it was the most mediocre fish Ive ever had. The genius of a chef decided that drowning the fish in pickled onions and a sprinkle of beets was a meal.... The menu description made it sound like it was a whole fish with beet salad on the side. Nope. 2 5-6 very thin fish filets, a third of a yellow beet and a pile of overly sweet pickled onions all stacked together. That still doesnt make me as mad as what my friend ordered. A $26 risotto with entirely too many mushrooms, to which she added salmon... to the tune of an additional $16.... The salmon was burnt and maybe 4oz at most. Please note that Im not saying the salmon was charred. It was so done that it has lost most of its pink color and had a thick layer of black. The worlds absolute best risotto rice is about $20 a lb. They probably used 50 grams of dry rice based on their portion size, and maybe a few dollars of mushroom and salmon a piece. I understand that every restaurant needs a markup, but come on... They arent importing aged rice from Italy, theyre buying bulk Arborio, burning your salmon, and charging you $42 dollars for it. Every portion size was so pathetically paltry. Five dollars for a square of mediocre focaccia that tasted stale? I looked in horror as the table around me had pasta plates that would make a can of chef Boyardee look like a feast. Im willing to pay an experienced chef who can make delicious food, but this was yet another scam by the Huntsville premium dining scene.

Every plate we ordered came out amazing. They were full of flavor, delicious, and beautiful presentation. Elijah offered us such great customer service. He gave the extra mile. will recommend this restaurant.

Hailey did a wonderful job serving! The food was outstanding- we loved the caeser and watermelon salads, homemade pastas (beef!), and lemon cheesecake dessert and cannolis. Hailey made it a wonderful experience. Thanks to the whole staff!

Would ve been better if the server was more attentive. After his 11 top left he still didn t manage to find time to get to us. Had to ask the hostess for the dessert we ordered as well as the check. Understand the business so he still got his tip. Just not sure I want to bring my family there or my friends from out of town in the near future.

It s funny to read the last negative review because we also dined there on the same night and we had the same server who had the 11-top. We could not have had a better experience. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and about the wine choices (he even came back just before the entrees to suggest a different wine that he thought would pair better). Every dish was as he described and he helped make it a wonderful evening. He clearly is passionate about his job and about his guests. We will be asking for him *by name* the next time we come in.

I was recommended this place by several locals and it did not disappoint. A great Italian place no matter what or where you compare with. The food was a revelation, perfect in both presentation and flavor. But as good as the food was, the service was even better. Hayley provided a truly unforgettable experience with her knowledge, attentiveness and great personality. I will come here whenever I m in town.

Such an amazing restaurant for a date night out. My husband and I had a wonderful waitress. The food was spectacular. I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the veal Parmesan. We will definitely be coming back!!

Visited 8/2 ( not my first time) and everything was amazing from the staff to the food. Was suggested a wine by waitress after we advised we like Moscato that was really good and my shrimp scampi was Devine. My waitress even gave us a champagne toast for my Birthday Food

We had a lovely dinner. Our server, Hailey, was exceptional: attentive without being annoying or overbearing. The food was divine, especially the dessert (we had the ganache brownie). We will eat there again soon!

The hostess Lizagnia was the best thing since air. And air is very good for you. Ill definitely be returning .

This place is absolutely amazing. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided on Mazzaras and it was a perfect choice. The service was quick, courteous, and informative. Elijah was our server and was outstanding! He was prompt, and polite, and gave recommendations which were spot on! The focaccia bread was a delicious starter. The lemon ricotta ravioli and Carmelas meatballs and pasta were both excellent! Followed by a delicious brownie for dessert. We will definitely be visiting Mazzaras again!

Such a great time, the food was made with so much love and perfection. Adam the Sommelier was not only extremely knowledgeable but very excited to make sure you have a great experience. I will try my hardest to come back if I m ever in town again. One million percent worth it!

Wow. What a gem in downtown Huntsville! A beautiful historical house paired with delicious Italian food and a sensational wine selection. Best limoncello cake we ve ever had. A must try!

Our experience went from great to meh. I took my girlfriend out for her birthday and we got the meatballs and they were fantastic. Our waiter was upbeat and made the food sound amazing. We were seated at 6:25 for our 6:15 reservation. We ordered our appetizer and meals around 6:45. Meatballs came out around 7. And the great turned into meh when we did not receive our food until 8:25. My beef osso bucco was fantastic but my girlfriends meal had burnt broccoli so it wasnt the best. I was just very disappointed by the wait and then there was nothing special done for my girlfriends bday. I would choose another place next time for a birthday even though the food was good

Great food, wine, service, and atmosphere! Adam is THE bartender to see. Knows his wines, is super personable, and you can tell he enjoys his job. Had hoped to go for our anniversary, but they were closed, but we will definitely be back!

Incredible. First, our server Elijah was wonderful and I ll be asking for him each time. In this economy, we are almost used to paying premium to receive mediocrity, but not here. The atmosphere, service, and food were amazing, and worth every penny. Perfect portions and everything is made scratch. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough.

We had high hopes because we had heard such great things but unfortunately we left pretty unimpressed. The wine list was good. The meatball appetizer was good. Caprese salad was alright. Service was slow. We ordered entrees before our apps came out and were done eating apps for at least 20 minutes before receiving our entrees. The table that sat down at the same time as us was done before we got our entrees. We ordered the steak (med rare) and baked rigatoni. The steak came out over cooked, most slices were medium well (which is confusing because it was pre sliced so they could see that it was over?). The rigatoni was just okay. The chicken was cubed and tasted old/ chewy. Kind of like how frozen chicken. With so many good restaurants in Huntsville, this won t be on our list to go back to.

Took my wife here for her Birthday. Atmosphere was great but food was not. My wife had grilled chicken rigatoni and the chicken was tough and didn t have a good taste. Sauce was bland. She sent it back and asked for just a Caesar salad. It was not good as well, they apparently char grill the whole head of leaf lettuce? So was wilted and charred (she thought it was just dirty and old). The took the chicken off the check but not the pathetic salad and they did say sorry several times. We are current at another restaurant getting my wife her missed Birthday dinner.

We absolutely adore this place. Everything is stellar and the staff make the experience so enjoyable. One or the greatest eating experiences ever!

Overall 5 stars. We ve lived here for 5 years and struggle to find an all around wonderful dining experience but this had it! Lovely historic house, all staff were attentive and working well together to make your night seamless. Elijah was an excellent waiter and happy to recommend food choices. We brought our own bottle of wine and since we bought it from CSWS they waived the corking fee. It s $15 otherwise and I consider that reasonable. No food was bad, and we ordered more than we usually do (appetizer meatballs, arugula salad, focaccia bread with our entrees). It unfortunately left me a little full prior to my lemon ravioli so that the creamy sauce was a little heavy for me. So more a mistake on my part. Meatballs were good but in the end just a meatball. I do wish the sun dried tomato focaccia had a bit more flavor from the tomatoes and a little more salt. Meaning I definitely enjoyed them both but would skip next time and try something else. This will absolutely be a return spot and one where I am excited to try other items on the menu because you can tell they put effort into everything!

The only restaurant we go back to in Huntsville! Impressive Italian fare that isn t too heavy. If the watermelon salad is available, get it! Didn t love the olive focaccia but everything else (and I ve almost tried it all) is fantastic.

I am originally from Brooklyn NY. I moved to the Huntsville area in November, and have lived in Tn for 2 years. I had about given up on home Italian food in the South until I ate here!! The food is absolutely amazing. I had flash backs to my childhood with every bite. The establishment is beautiful with a very historical yet homey feel. The staff, especially Tristin(our server) and Abraham(GM), were so friendly and professional. Absolutely honest and sincere. You now have a loyal patron and we can t wait to bring our family visiting to enjoy this dining experience.

Everything was delicious. We had the meatballs and focaccia bread for appetizer. For our main meal, we had the salmon dish (hubby added pasta) and shrimp scampi, and for dessert we had the chocolate brownie and berry tart (will request add ice cream next time). We will be back.

This is one of the best restaurants in Huntsville. If visiting Huntsville, you must go to Mazzaras (book your table in advance). Its a very cool building with excellent service and fantastic food. I recommend the mussels for an appetizer (the sauce is incredible) and the steak for an entree. Homely Huntsville highly recommends Mazzara s Vinoteca Parking: There are tons of street parking options with the newly opened streets by Huntsville City Hall.

Food was fabulous!

We had a lovely evening here and would definitely go back. We started with the mussels with chorizo. We each had a different salad - caesar, radicchio, grilled watermelon, and tomato caprese. All of them were delicious. Entrees were fried stuffed eggplant parmesan over pasta and shrimp scampi over pasta. Our servers were very attentive. My only complaint was that there was too much cream sauce on my dish. We returned last night. My husband had the special, Branzino, and I had the lemon artichoke stuffed pasta. Both dishes were amazing. The only disappointment was that we were seated in the bar area at a high top table because there weren t any other tables even though we had a reservation.

First class service. Lasagna was amazing. Some parking roadside outside and parking garage across the street. Needs a better sign outside as its located inside a historical house.

The best dinner in town. I recommend the mussels and focaccia as an appetizer and the steak as an entree. Its a super cool building and consistently attentive service. The other meal in the picture is eggplant Parmesan, that comes with spaghetti on the side. This should be your number 1 spot to eat if you re visiting Huntsville.

Had an incredible experience at Mazzaras Vinoteca, thanks largely to our waiter, Triston. He wasn t just a waiter but a culinary guide, passionately recommending dishes like the unforgettable veal Parmesan. It was clear he took pride in his recommendations, and his enthusiasm made our meal even more enjoyable. Looking forward to returning, not just for the amazing food but for the exceptional service Triston provided. A true gem among waiters!

We always have a fantastic meal here. This is our go to place for special occasions or just a nice night out. Friendly staff are attentive and helpful with recommendations and the food is outstanding! Great vegetarian options as well. Can t recommend this place enough!

It was our first visit to Mazzaras Vinoteca. I became sick with food poisoning after eating the Seafood Cioppino on April 10, 2024. It tasted fine while I was eating it. I was served a very small glass with scarcely 4 oz. of wine when I ordered the Santa Margherita. The person I was with was served a larger glass for her Langhe Bianco with a more normal pour of about 6 - 8 oz.. She had the Shrimp Scampi Over Pasta. There was very little pasta so she was disappointed in her dinner. Our waiter thought I had been there before and the person he thought I was must have mistreated him. Just a bad experience overall.

Excellent service and atmosphere. As an Italian who has lived in NYC, I highly recommend bringing out bread with balsamic and olive oil before the meal. This is an Italian staple no matter what type of restaurant you are. Also, dont drizzle caramel on the tiramisu. Only complaints!

Had a large group at this traditional Italian restaurant.. The historic home backdrop creates a warm and inviting ambiance. Our appetizers of shrimp scampi, meatballs and mussels were incredible. The home made pastas we had (rigatoni and orecchiette ) were so flavorful, you will want more bread to finish the sauces. The veal parmesan was tender and delicious. One of best traditional Italian restaurants I ve been to in a long time. Our server was great, and the wine list extensive and very reasonable. Looking forward to.going back to try the remaining items on the menu!

Dined here with friends last night. Im ashamed to say this is the first time Ive made it to this restaurant but it wont be my last. The food and service were fantastic. We started with the Focaccia bread, the meatballs & the olives. The bread and meatballs were delicious. (I cant speak for the olives but my friends loved them!)We then had the Caprese salad and the Caesar Salad (minus the white anchovies...not my thing). Both were fresh and delicious. For the main course I chose Shrimp Scampi & my husband chose the ravioli. The scampi may be the best Ive ever had. It was so tasty with the homemade noodles and buttery sauce It will be difficult for me to try a different dish when I return because I already know what Ill be missing. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the ravioli. Hes not typically impressed with pasta dishes but this one definitely hit his list of top choices. For dessert, we had the brownie with caramel sauce & ice cream. It was divine! Justin was our server and he did a fantastic job moving the experience along and checking in with us to see if we needed anything. 10 out of 10. We will definitely return!

Love this place! This is the 2nd restaurant we have visited under the Chuch Street Wine Shop family. I give it 5 Stars all around. Like stated before, I dont give too many 5 Stars but this definitely deserves it. First and foremost, our service was phenomenal by Elijah. We will definitely request him again and again. Food was awesome both delicious and appetizing looking. See the pictures to whet your taste buds. Atmosphere was very ambience like. Bathroom was stocked and cleaned. Recommend and will definitely return. In the meantime, Happy Eating and Drinking.

I cant believe we hadnt been here yet! It sailed easily to the top of my fav HSV restaurant list. We had focaccia and the $8 side plate of classic spaghetti with Mariana for an appetizer and it was perfect! Then we shared an entree (unfortunately forgot the name- it had osso buco) with wine from the specials menu. The sauce was incredible, fresh pasta amazing, meat super tender- if licking the bowl wasnt awful manners I would have! The house made lemon cheesecake with strawberry compote was perfect- most cheesecake is too sweet but this was incredibly balanced. It was a perfect amount of food and Im thankful they allowed us to share so we could try several different things! Our server Elijah was lovely. We will be back!

Wow! My husband and I joined my brother and sister-in-law Wednesday night. This was my first time eating here. My brother and I were excited to try the Cioppino. Absolutely delicious! The first spoon of the broth got my palate excited for the remainder of the dish. The lobster and shrimp were cooked to perfection! The dish comes with grilled focaccia which is perfect to dip in the broth, but next time I will order another sundried tomato focaccia to have with my Cioppino. We all split the sundried tomato focaccia for the appetizer and it was hot and delicious. We also got the butternut squash ravioli, this was a good dish but a little too sweet for our liking, but hey it is butternut squash so that is to be expected. Will definitely be back!

Hello from Texas! We googled this place and had some good feelings it was going to be AMAZING! Hard to decipher if it was a legit restaurant when we showed up .not a lot of signage indicating it was in fact the place. Very elegant building and nicely fitting for the type of food it serves. So here we go! Our waitress was having an off night, like reallllyyyy off. We are visiting from Texas and thought let s have some good wine and even better food. Not the case. Wine is hard to mess up. The bread we ordered was an absolute joke. Got our drink after being there 20 minutes, flat beer at that. So we decided, what the heck, might as well order everything at this rate. Shrimp scampi was basically overly cooked shrimp (frozen), dumped into a bunch of butter and poorly cooked noodles. Meatballs were dense and frozen before cooked, kind of like something you d pay 88 cents for Chef Boyardee .and these meals are 25 plus a piece! Waitress forgot our salads (12 dollars a piece). All in all, may have or not have been an off night. But we won t be going back. 2 hours elapsed waiting on food and drinks. I d be real careful when eating here

Great food, kind staff, all in a beautiful setting. Haley was a great server. Parking: Metered street parking, free in the evenings, with a lost close by. Kid-friendliness: We brought our 2 large dogs and sat on the porch. They were very accommodating.

I love CSWS concepts. This is definitely my favorite. Today I got the pleasure of sharing my love for this place with a family member. I would definitely like to call out our server, Hailey, who was professional, wonderful, and very sweet. She recommended the sundried tomato bread- please try it. Its one of the best breads Ive ever had (and trust me, if you saw me, youd know how much I love bread.) I also had the lasagne which is only available for lunch. The portions are perfect, not horribly over sized, but perfect for lunch. The flavor of the sauce is hardy and full. I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend trying this little gem, or any of their other concepts. I also hope you get the pleasure of dining with Hailey, who made our experience so wonderful. I will be back!

Lovely place, great food and nice ambiance.

First off, if I was scoring purely on food and service, this would be 5 stars. They aint the problem. A member of our party and myself are disabled. The handicap entrance is around the back, into employee parking, up a ramp next to the trash cart. On our way out, we had to squeeze past a SUV to get back onto the street. Yes, I know this is a historical house, but that frankly doesnt justify making disabled people feel like an afterthought or inconvenience. Theres no indication that this is the handicap entrance, or that the building even has one (even if its literally just the trash ramp, and only accidentally the handicap entrance). We had to call to find out if there even was such an entrance. Also, if anyone in your party is in a chair, theyre going to have a seriously hard time navigating the space generally, especially if someones blocking street access from the handicap entrance. Patrick was an absolutely fantastic server. Friendly, knowledgeable, patient. Also, the food was close to perfect (my spaghetti was the slightest bit past al dente). Like I said, the food and service were not the problem dropping the review to 3 stars. While I dig live music, last nights music (2-1-24) was obnoxiously loud. Pretty much killed the atmosphere, made conversation and communicating with our server borderline impossible. Probably will try this joint again on a night without last century covers played at maximum volume ;-).

Fantastic setting for a restaurant, got the best seat in the house by the window Haley took great care of us. From the limited time we spent in Italy it felt much more authentic to us than other Italian restaurants. Wine flight was awesome and a great value. Cute restaurant with amazing food and service. Our server was top notch. She had other tables but made us feel like we were her top priority. Other staff checked on us as well. We ordered the PEI Mussels, Caesar salad, Baked Rigatoni, and Meatballs with Fettuccine. We also ordered the limoncello cake and brownie to go for dessert. Best dishes: PEI Mussels were the star of the show. We will be back just for those. Meatballs and homemade pasta were amazing. Limoncello cake was delicious, very light and airy. Just ok dishes: Caesar salad (grilled wedge) was ok, included tomatoes and cucumber which we didn t love. Would have been much better as a chopped salad with more dressing. Baked rigatoni was ok but ended up being rather soupy. Brownie was nothing special and we wouldn t order it again. We went on an evening where they had live music. While the musician had a wonderful voice, the style didn t fit with the atmosphere of the restaurant and killed the vibe. Jazz, strings, or just classical guitar would have been a much better fit. In fact, it might have lifted the atmosphere even more than the classical music played over the speakers. Nevertheless, we will be back soon for the mussels, meatballs, and wonderful service!

Amazing experience, amazing food, amazing service from Patrick. 10/10 would recommend coming in and asking specifically for Patrick who is knowledgeable, warm, and wonderful. The pasta was dreamy and I m coming back for dessert.

Mazzara Italian in downtown Huntsville, Alabama, offers a romantic ambiance in an older building with a superb menu. The lemon artichoke pasta and butter head lettuce salad with roasted fruits were delightful. The house-made tiramisu and excellent wine selection stood out. Service was outstanding, making it a must-visit for an authentic Italian dining experience.

Mazzaras is fantastic! My favorite restaurant. Food and service were incredible. We had 10 people celebrating a graduation and everyone was so pleased. My personal favorite is the meatballs! Highly recommend!

One out of the 4 entrees was good, the rest were highly spicy, can t enjoy any food that spicy, and they charged one more item than what they served. Unjustly pricey. Not coming back.

I ordered the Caesar salad, the lettuce was withering & cooked? My entree was the Chicken Marsala, the chicken & sauce was great however the broccoli was over charred & maybe bad so it made the entire dish taste awful. So I decided to try the deserts I had the brownie with ice cream, the ice cream was freezer burned and the brownie has no flavor. I will mention some of my friends did enjoy the shrimp scampi, meatballs, and steak. The charcuterie board was great too! I will give it another try just to taste something different only because the manager was so pleasant!

Sat at the bar. We were served attentively by the bartender. I m not sure if his name but he was a very nice older gentleman that provided great recommendations for our wines as we went through the courses. Also, this man is working his absolute a** off! Someone give him a raise. He not only got all the people dining at the bar but also the 10-15 women milling around that were ordering drinks while they waited for their table, and then also all the orders coming in from the rest of the tables. He literally was nonstop working the entire time and stayed positive. Hopefully I tipped enough! And yes the food was all delicious. We enjoyed it a lot

My girlfriend and I LOVE Italian food, and small restaurants. We thought we had found the best in the south in Birmingham. I took her here last night for her birthday, and we were absolutely blown away by the food. We will certainly be back many, many more times. The atmosphere is lovely, intimate but not loud or crowded. Tasteful decor, this is a wonderful place for romantic date nights, anniversaries, or just a nice dinner with well made food. Thank you for a special and memorable meal!

Mazzaras Vinoteca I m sure I have posted about this restaurant before, they are in Huntsville Downtown. It was called Church Street Wine Shoppe in the beginning when they opened up. It s one of the restaurants owned by the Churchstreet Family. Great place for authentic Italian food and attire is casual fine dining. Parking is little tricky for this place but I always find a spot near by. They have some amazing selection of wines. Bartender Adam is very friendly and can make some great suggestions if you don t know what your are in the mood for. Whether youre enjoying a romantic dinner for two or a special event for a crowd, Mazzaras is about bringing people together over delicious food. Located in the historic Humphreys-Rogers House, in Downtown Huntsville, AL, Mazzaras offers old-world charm in an elegant atmosphere. I am so happy I found this place! I had a large takeout order for my mothers birthday which happened to fall on Easter. Mazzara s was the only Italian restaurant that was open and I am so happy they were! Brandon had fantastic customer service over the phone with me and helped answer all of my questions about their food, vegetarian options, and Easter specials. When we arrived Easter morning, all employees greeted me and my husband with a smile! Adam helped us with our order and was such a blast to hang out with while we waited for our food. The inside of the restaurant is adorable, 100% date night scene. The food, service, and company were all amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will be coming back. Vegetarian options: The eggplant Parmesan is vegetarian friendly and tastes great!

Went with the family for my birthday, it was an awesome choice. Started with the chefs charcuterie board which was perfectly portioned to give a great sampling but not spoil your appetite. Next came the entree which was delicious and generous, my wife and I shared a pasta dish and had just enough room left for dessert. Our waiter Elijah was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. He gave excellent suggestions regarding wine pairing all the way to dessert recommendations. It was a fabulous evening.

Mazzaras Vinoteca was a great experience. The service was phenomenal! Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu. The atmosphere was exactly what we expected. My wife ordered shrimp scampi over pasta and I had Carmelas meatballs & pasta. Both were good. Personally, the scampi had a bit too much lemon, but my wife loved it. The meatballs were average. The pasta was good. It was house made and was definitely better than something you could boil at home! We also tried the Rosemary steak fries and house made focaccia (sun-dried tomato), the focaccia was awesome! The fries were great but must be named after a person named Rosemary, not the herb. There was no rosemary to be found. For dessert we had chocolate ganache brownie with house made vanilla ice cream and the cannoli trio, they were both average at best. This was a great experience. I highly recommend you try it yourself. It may end up being your favorite Italian restaurant in Huntsville!

Amazing dining experience in a historic home converted to a restaurant. The two of us went a little later and were seated immediately. The staff was incredibly friendly and eager to offer suggestions for new guests. Staff worked well as a team in all aspects of service. My daughter had pumpkin ricotta ravioli with fried kale, cranberries, pecans and cheese on top. I had mushroom risotto with grilled shrimp.

As someone whos visited Italy, this place deserves 5 stars for being in.....HUNTSVILLE??? The meatballs -> amazing. The bread -> super fresh (you can even tell it was made the same day.) I tried the specials of the day in which all of the pastas were HANDMADE!! literally dont go to any other italian spot in Huntsville EXCEPT THIS ONE. (From someone who is a foodie in NYC) The dessert was also to die for. Unfortunately they didnt have the lemon dessert but the chocolate dessert was awesome. Our waitress was awesome and an overall 10/10 experience.

What an experience! A 160 year old mansion with original interior served as the best possible ambience. Amazing service by the waiter, I cannot remember his name but he was a tall young guy with a bright smile. He knew his way around the menu and recommended us favorites. I asked for a specific wine for the pasta and he picked a great one. The food: astonishing. No other words. I will definitely come back to this amazing place. It is so worth the money!

I got a chicken parm sandwich and it was mouthwatering good. Their cheesecake was also really delicious.

Anniversary dinner; initial table seating was in a busy area but, with a gentle request, we were seated at a nice table with a view and more secluded. Caprese salad was original and delightful. Chicken marsala was a creamy version; very nice but not our normal clear marsala wine based version. Cioppino was *fantastic!*; nicely blended seafood (both in shell and swimming in the delicious red wine, bacon, hint of cream, and hint of heat sauce). I took the excess pasta from my wifes marsala and blended it with the broth to create a rich, delightful blend of flavors. Service was wonderful - attentive, generous, and not overbearing. We had heard many good reports about Mazzara s and live nearby, so we decided to try it on our anniversary a Wednesday. We were seated in a corner, and while waiting for a server to arrive, we realized that an A/C vent under the table was creating a very uncomfortable situation. I mentioned it to the server, who produced a cover that at least reduced the blast. After discussing the wine list with our server, we chose a really excellent bottle, which turned out to be the high point of the evening. Our salads were the Butterhead Lettuce and Argentinian Shrimp. They arrived rather slowly and were disappointing. Mine was just limp and tasteless, while her shrimp were overcooked, as if left over from something, and essentially inedible. We weren t in a hurry, but the server was inattentive, only appearing in the room on rare occasions. My entrée was a special for the evening, a mushroom risotto, and hers was the eggplant parmesan, which had to be sent back because the interior was cold/uncooked. My risotto was good, but only warm, not hot, so I continued eating while she waited for her food to be returned. I was finished before it finally arrived, and it was even more undercooked than before. She couldn t eat it in that state, so at the end of the evening she took it home, where a day or so later we cooked it in the air fryer and it was OK, but ordinary. We shared a very tasty tiramisu, so the wine and dessert bookended a very disappointing evening of poor food, inattentive service, and uncomfortable environment. We had hoped to add another nearby restaurant to our list, but Mazzara s failed.

One of the best restaurants in Huntsville. Every dish is delicious and priced fairly. The hospitality is some of the best you can find. Its a place I keep coming back to.

Lemon Artichoke Ravioli. So delicious! They let me order a lobster tail on top. Our server Olivia was so attentive and lovely! She had great recommendations and made us feel very well taken care of. We sat on the front porch. So cute. Would definitely return!

This was great! Went out for a girls night, we had reservations and we were seated right away. Such a cute restaurant. The server was so nice and answered questions, took time with us, we never felt rushed or like we were a bother. We ordered an appetizer, an entree each, dessert and a bottle of wine. Everything was reasonably priced and very fresh. We were told that most of the pasta is handmade and you could tell!

Had dinner there last night with friends. Hard to converse due to poor acoustics. Dinners were well prepared, however, we were surprised that bread was not served with the meal. We were offered focaccia at $14 instead!

We were seated at our reservation time. The business was very busy but we got our food in a timely manner and everything was fresh. I enjoyed this place. Prices were not over the top but would have expected slightly bigger portions.

High-end restaurants are known for charging more for higher quality offerings and an unbeatable dining experience. Nothing wrong with that! Except, when the offerings are substandard. In my such case, I ordered the braised beef pasta. And it was so tough, it popped my orthodontic wire bracket completely out. The pasta had a gummy consistency which is common with store bought brands. My husband ordered a Chicken Marsla which lacked in flavor. To classify this as an Italian restaurant is a blatant conard. But, Im sure the loyal, regular patrons wouldnt know any better. Although the staff was friendly. The food was absolutely overpriced and mediocre.

This was without a doubt some of the best Italian food Ive ever had. Got the artichoke ravioli and tiramisu ... it was amazing! This is now our Italian restaurant of choice! I know its in a historic building with tons of history, but the layout and starting are awkward for a restaurant. Getting a middle of the room table doesnt help. Service was slow, but our server also had a large private party. Hopefully next time the service will be better, but the food was absolutely divine!

The menu is is appropiate for the restaurant...however names details on the menu are not correct and since it is an itlian restaurant it can seek for improvement.I gave 4 star for the hand made ravioli with lemon and artichoke sauce.The raviolo pasta was too thick ,barely tasted the filling because the fkavor of the lemon was overpowering the rest.A balance between artichoke and lemon was needed...so for the thickness of the pasta...a real italian raviolo needs to be thinner than what I tasted..

Wow, Mazzara s was a lovely experience and I am looking forward to our next visit! My sister and I popped in without a reservation on a recent Thursday ~7pm. We got the last two seats at the bar they were fully booked! The bartender was a delight and added so much to our experience. He let us sample their South African Sauvignon Blanc, and we loved it so much we took a bottle home. The pictures of the food speak for themselves. We will surely be back!

I only did carry out, but Ill be honest the price I paid wasnt worth what I received. Not to say any of it was bad, just not good and definatly not worth the cost size wise. I got the Mushroom risotto touch wine in the sauce or lemon was just a bitter flavor. The mushrooms on top were fine. The rigatoni. So spicy I could taste nothing else and the chicken was just blah. The lemon cake for desert was alright at best. Not terrible just small, pricing seemed a out fair on that. And last the worst I ordered was the bread. 5 dollars for 4 Id say inch peices..... All in all Id say pass on this. Cost wise not worth it, I would come back for wine and atmosphere. Staff was friendly and door girl was nice.

First rate. What a joy to have a professional waiter. Excellent service. The food was great too. The recommended wine was wonderful. Not pretentious at all. The (silent) B&W movies on screens and the 50-60s crooners (Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, etc.) give it all a funky, casual vibe but the service and food would do the stuffiest of places justice. I was very, very pleased. Parking is a little wonky but I suspect that is because of the new City Hall construction site across the street. Remember that location because Google Maps might try to send you to Madison. (Theyre trying to fix the problem.) Its right downtown on Gates Ave., one block SW of the courthouse square. If you like wine and Italian food, youll love it.

This place is amazing. If you are looking for good italian food, this is the place to go. The problem you will have is that you will want to try every food on the menu. In that case, just go two nights back to back like i did. Service is impeccable. I have not had a bad experience in that aspect. I will also point out the historic house turned resourant charm. The place is just amazing. Would go again, many times!!! Parking: Behind the building is a parking garage. Park in there, do not waste your time looking for a spot on the street.

My husband and I ate here last night. Without a reservation, they were able to seat us outside in about ten minutes. The food was so good! We loved the fresh ingredients and cohesive dishes! We ordered the charcuterie board, butter leaf salad, lemon artichoke ravolii (I saved the prosciutto from the charcuterie and added it to the pasta dish ) and the pacheri osso bucco pasta. Haley is an excellent waitress! She made sure our spoon came with the salad to make it easier to serve (share) and I really appreciate that. The great service and great food (and wine!) made for a wonderful night! But... without hesitation, I kindly suggest spraying outside for mesquitos bc that part sucked!

Fantastic Italian food in Huntsville! Beautiful restaurant with endless wine options and a quality dinner and dessert menu. I took my in-laws here last night and they absolutely loved it! We ordered a white wine flight to start, and for dinner the table had a chicken Caesar salad, rigatoni pasta, shrimp scampi, and spaghetti pomodoro. We split a few desserts, the tiramisu, lemon cello cake, lemon cheesecake, and brownie. All amazing! Wonderful fine dining experience and our server Kaitlyn was amazing and so helpful!

My new favorite Italian restaurant in HSV! You can t go wrong with anything on the menu. The meatballs and gravy are divine. The rigatoni and cream sauce is SO good. And the desserts are delicious, especially the limoncello cake *chefs kiss*. Our waiter, Keith, was great! It was our first time dining and he gave us some of his favorite recommendations and kept the wine flowing. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic food, service, & atmosphere. I have not eaten Italian out in years since my favorite Italian restauranteur, Mario from Sicily, retired and his very American son ruined the menu. Mazzara s is my new favorite and has restored my faith in Italian restaurants. The fettuccini was handmade, the Bolognese was slow cooked and rich, the focaccia was fresh and soft, and the waitress remembered us from another Church street property years ago. They went above and beyond to accommodate our special diet requests and even brought us a complimentary Pellegrino & cranberry toast to celebrate our anniversary. At $24 for meatballs that will feed me for two meals, I thought the prices were reasonable. I can t wait to go back and try other dishes.

My family and I ate at Mazzara s Vinoteca recently to celebrate our daughters birthday. This restaurant is excellent! We ate authentic, old time, DELICIOUS Italian food. The restaurant has a back in the day , NYC, Little Italy atmosphere and all the staff treat you like family. TVs in each room, play old, black-and-white movies (sans sound) and the background music transports you back to those times. (Dean Martin and Etta James never fail to inspire!). Our waitress, Julie, was perfect. Her service was impeccable. Thank you, Julie! You are the epitome of class, and you were a Huge part of our great experience. The management at Mazzara s have managed to bull s-eye the balance between classic elegance (white tablecloths), and a warm, hearty and relaxed atmosphere. As I sat at my table, I watched so many people fill the lobby and head off to the bar or one of the restaurants, many upper and lower dining rooms (very unique). This historic home continues to make history. Thank you all so much for such a wonderful experience! Parking: There is a free parking garage on the same street as well as street parking close by.

Short version: Excellent food, excellent staff, confusing atmosphere. Long version: Im not from here, so feel free to call me a Yankee if youre a native or use this review as a guide if you are from up North. We came to Mazarras for our second wedding anniversary. Overall the food was excellent. We had the baked Rotolo and olives as appetizers, the pumpkin agnolotti and Rigatoni and Guanciali entrées, and the tiramisu for desert as well as the homemade onion and rosemary focaccia. As a native New Englander, I have found it difficult to find an upscale restaurant with food that matches its price here in Huntsville. With the exception of the uninspired focaccia, the food was fantastic. I tried everything we ordered, and all of the flavors were well matched, the quality outstanding and the care and preparation evident. Things I often took for granted that became obvious were missing with our dining experiences in Huntsville. Overall, the food gets a 9.5/10. The waitstaff and hostesses were friendly and attentive and get an easy 10/10. Atmosphere. For me this was a let down. We came at 4:30 on a Friday evening. What started out as a a quiet meal soon turned into more of a pub setting. Clearly there are restrictions to having a restaurant in a historic home. Packing ~10 tables into a large sitting room made it difficult to carry on a conversation in regular speaking voices after the room reached capacity. Also, there was a TV in our dining room playing what looked like silent 1930s films. Im not sure if i missed some historical significance, but it definitely felt out of place. Finally, it is certainly possible that Im not the intended clientele, but to me Mazarras feels a bit confused on its mission. The $100+ check for two (happily paid because of the food) and table settings says upscale and fine dining. The wine flights and half of the other clientele say otherwise. I dont think its particularly unreasonable to have a dress code for a restaurant of this caliber. The ambiance is clearly changed when other tables are getting wine drunk in tshirts and athletic clothing. I feel like this is unlikely to change since it seems like the wine flights (and the clientele they cater towards) are a significant portion of their revenue. Regardless of the downside, we will be back, maybe on a weekday when we might have a quieter meal.

A friend and I went for dinner last night and from the time I made our reservation over the phone the day before to the end of the meal, customer service was top notch. We sat in the dining room and ordered two different wine flights (red and Italian) which came out quickly. We ordered the olive tapas and they were delicious. Our server, I sadly cannot remember her name but she was great and is coming to the Athens location!) Mentioned the housemade focaccia bread which sounded delicious so we ordered the rosemary and onion. Our entrees, cheese ravioli and Mushroom risotto came out quickly and were good portions and came out hot and delicious. The garlic confit with the ravioli on the focaccia was heavenly. I am not a Mushroom lover but the risotto changed that for me. Large chunks of mushrooms, creamy risotto. I just ate the leftovers for lunch and it was just as good today. We ordered the lemoncello cake to go and it was good but I think it would have tasted better in the restaurant. All in all, our experience was great and we cant say enough good things about the team at Mazzaras. Id recommend them to anyone and hope to go back soon. Ill definitely be visiting their Athens location!

we booked a private room for 11 people after Mazzaras was recommended to us by a friend. It was our daughters 18th birthday. We had a great family dinner! The service was excellent as was all the food. The wine selection was also very good. I do not believe a single person had any issues with their food and most at our table raved about the presentation and flavor. In particular I recommend the pumpkin ravioli! Parking: Parking garage is less than a block away. We left after 8PM and were not charged for parking.

This is one of the best restaurants in town, if you haven t been, go! Sometimes you need a reservation, but it s worth it. Pasta is freshly made every day and the service is always impeccable. Great venue in a house built in the 1800s. Food was really good. The prices were very reasonable. I had the cioppino which came with a lobster tail included.. Not many places offer cioppino.

Came here for my mom s birthday and we had a lovely dinner! We loved the wine, the caprese salad was amazingly fresh and delicious. (I think we wish we each ordered one.) A tip would be to order the fresh focaccia so it comes with your dinner. They don t do bread service and it was so fresh and delicious! We had waited until we got our entrees and it took about 7 minutes to come out. Very comforting, delicious, Italian food (a little heavy handed on the red pepper for the marinara for our taste) and excellent wine selection. My family is a fan and will be back!

Delicious as always! One of the best upscale restaurants in town! Service was excellent - Our server, Tristan, was so friendly! And the food was incredible. Ciopinno and lemon pesto ravioli were perfection!

This place had such delicious Italian food!! The wait staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. I also loved the historic house it is located in. Definitely worth the visit!

What a great night with the folks at Mazzaras Vinoteca. The beautiful old house with its grand staircase. The bar area where Adam will take great care of you. Richard the manager keeps things rolling and making sure we are having a memorable evening and we certainly did. Jennifer our server was extra on fire! Helping us with the menu and of course seeing that we had what we needed. The food you ask? THE FOOD WAS EXTRA, ON FIRE, TASTE BUDS WERE POPPING!! Do you think I liked it? You d be right about that. We had ourselves a great meal!!! The price point is easy on the wallet as well. Don t forget the desserts.. save room for lemon cheesecake

We came here on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary and the food was amazing! We started off with the eggplant Parmesan, Cesar salad and the caprese salad and the Cesar salad is not your regular Cesar salad so dont come with that expectation in mind this is real Italian. For our main course is had the shrimp scampi with house made focaccia let me tell you it was chef kiss and my fiance had the Norwegian salmon it was delic.as well and we ended our night with berry crustata and the brownie cant remember the name but it was good!.. we will be back together our meal was.$150

The best viel Parmesan I have ever eaten anywhere. The acompaning pasta was delicious and in the perfect portion . My dinner guest had the chorizo stuffed mussels that were also 10/10. My new favorite Italian restaurant in Huntsville

We were visiting from out of town and looking for a good Italian restaurant in advance of the half marathon. The reviews brought us here and we re very thankful they did! The food was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Portion sizes were good and we left having greatly enjoyed our meal. The only small challenge we had was locating the restaurant as our driver wasn t seeing a sign so we drove around a couple of times to confirm we were at the correct location. Once we were inside everything was wonderful and if we re visiting here again we ll definitely be back.
