The Family Place Restaurant and Pizza in Huntsville

I love the upscale diner feeling of the aptly named Family Restaurant. The pizza is delicious and, in fact, Ive never had a bad meal here. It can get busy but everyone is friendly and helpful. A lovely spot. They have a new bakery attached with delicious breads.

Best place is Huntsville to grab a bite. Great menu, excellent pizza. Kind, hardworking staff. I was in town for work coming from Toronto and this place could teach Toronto restaurants how to be a spot that you want to come back to. If I m ever back here I will definitely come back.

Celiac safe. Has gluten free bread and they even have a separate toaster for gluten free bread. For the home fries they did it in a separate pan. Really appreciate all the accommodating staff did for me. Food was also amazing!

As me and my husband were watching the food channel last night we watched them make beef dip sandwiches in New York so we made it a challenge to find it in our home town Huntsville, to our surprise during the last 3 weeks we have been going to the little badger house to buy the amazing bread we decided to pop in and have breakfast, to our surprise they had the beef dip sandwich, we immediately decided that we would go there again tonight to have the beef dip for dinner. It brought my husband back to his childhood when he used to go to hungry boys in Toronto. He was so happy and he ate everything! Not only did we notice the cleanliness of the restaurant,the washrooms were impeccable and we noticed the amazing cooks who served us not only for breakfast but we still making dinner at 730pm with smiles on their faces. This staff family works so well together and they took such great care of us tonight we will definitely be going back not just the two of us but our family of 22.not to mention the dinner was extremely affordable, Congrats to the new owners and the staff for making this place exactly what is says. A family place 5stars all around.

Vegetarian options: Veggie burger was excellent! Food

Expensive and subpar food and atrocious service. We went for breakfast and were excited. However, food prices and the portions you got were horrible. 18$ for a clubhouse the size of a small sandwich. Service was the worst encountered. During our time there aside from the initial order and coffee we were never checked on, asked if we needed anything else and no refills offered. All the while our server helped other tables and another server would walk around the restaurant with a child on their arm. In the end our food was only brought to us by kitchen staff, and we were done for 20 minutes before they brought the bill.

We just discovered this restaurant last weekend and have driven over an hour this weekend to come back again. This is everything you want in a family restaurant: great food, friendly staff, great service, nice atmosphere. The menu is extensive. We have loved the breakfast but look forward to trying the delicious looking pizza we ve seen at near by tables. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend.

Cute little local dîner. I would only recommend if you have time. The service is very slow, probably because we went on a Sunday morning. We got the farmer sausage and little breakfast that was pretty pretty good. Chicken sandwich was super dry, bread and chicken. They didnt put any seasoning.

Food was homemade and full of flavour, service excellent and helped us narrow down our menu choices since everything looked amazing. Great value and many healthy choices as well. We enjoyed our dinner and will be returning in the morning for breakfast before heading back home.

Cooks need to turn eggs over when making over medium. Otherwise everything was good.

What the heck is going on with this place? New this new that, looks nice but what happened to the food? 30 yrs been going and ever since the new owners....Just terrible food. Service, of course ok, decor yes nice but we cant eat that. Too bad last time we chance this place. So many childhood memories guess everything changes. Youd think people would just keep what worked for decades.

This is a little place that has been in town for a long time. The service was awesome. Our server was kind and quick and the food was fantastic. Its nice to have a place to go when you want a good wholesome homestyle meal.

Your best option in Huntsville for both a greasy spoon and pizza. Nothing greasy about the fish however, as the batter is crisp and light.

Food was pretty bland. Ordered, bruschetta, chicken parm and the chicken souvlaki dinner. Bruschetta was a bit unorthodox, but was probably the best part of the meal. Pasta sauce was very bland, seemingly straight from a can. Noodles were over cooked way past al dente. The chicken was bland as well, overcooked and dry. The souvlaki was ok, tzatziki was decent, rice was bland and unseasoned. The veggies were pretty good. Maybe we just didn t order good items? It seems like there was a theme of over cooked and under seasoned. Service was good and it was pretty busy with only 4-5 free tables. So obviously people go here, I m just not sure why.

Great people - great food

Traditional style family diner with great tasty comfort foods you would expect, a super friendly atmosphere, very accomodating to families and kids. Large space inside with lots of seating, frequently busy. Great place to go for breakfast especially, would keep coming back whenever in Huntsville. We have been long-time lovers of Family Place Restaurant for dining-in meals but most recently had them cater a birthday party dinner. The food was amazing!! It was fresh, flavourful and plentiful. I could not have been happier with their service. They created a unique menu that satisfied all of our guests. I highly recommend Family Place, not only for dining in but also for catering. Thank you for making the evening stress free.

Great little spot for a cozy meal... our waitress was great.. chatty and friendly.. hubby had liver and onions which he really enjoyed.. the roasted potatoes that came with his meal were awesome..lol.. he still talks about them.. I had the burger which was great.. no filler in the burger and served on a lovely fresh brochee bun.. You gotta try this spot..

Michele was our server. She recommended the meat lovers hash, and it was amazing! You can tell by how many people are seated at tables as well as how many takeout orders we saw getting picked up that this is one of the best restaurants in Huntsville. We were sitting near the kitchen and kept hearing the servers complimenting the cooks on how nice the dishes looked. Bottom line: Eat here whenever youre in Huntsville!

We had an amazing family meal here, and it s all thanks to Mustafa and the wonderful atmosphere of this beautiful place! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special. My family and I went this evening to check out the new look of Family Place this evening and it is so incredibly beautiful! They have done an amazing job! As always the service was impeccable along with the quality of the food. It s very cool that we can dine at the same establishment my parents had their first date at over 40 years ago!

I went to this restaurant after Reno. In.my opinion the place is still old just painted They over charge for there food for example pancakes was 3 , dollars extra big ripe off size was like size of a hockey puck. No extra refills on drinks like other places

The Reno looks great there food was good the server was great friendly Id recommend it trying it you wont be disappointed

The owner was very disappointing. Threw his employee under the bus instead of manning up and just fixing the problem. Waited 1.5 hrs after ordering our food to find out they did not even start it. Long wait was expected and things happen. But when the owner finally came to see us and chose to blame his staff instead of dealing with it we chose to leave.....

Great diner on huntsville main street. We went there on Canada day long weekend and the place was packed. They were working with somewhat lower staff and still doing a great job. We had the family omelette and farmers hash benedict and both were great.

They still serve fresh cut deep fried potatoes, not those disgusting frozen potatoes many places provide.

Ordered their pizza today. There was barely a thin film of toppings. 90% dough. Hard to call it a pizza. Nice family diner but they should take pizza off the menu.

Amazing! Only a few minutes off the highway. Best breakfast Ive had in a very long time. Everything very fresh, they support locals farmers with their sausage, and have local maple syrup!

Amazing atmosphere, very comforting and homey. The service was amazing, staff were very kind and attentive. Menu is large and the portion sizes were a little small for the price but it was tasty and felt home cooked! Would recommend for a casual breakfast place.

Nice family place, you can see that s its family run which is very touching and gives a sweet cozy atmosphere. We went for breakfast (had the eggs benny - wasn t a fan of the home fries that didn t really have flavour) the food is just traditional breakfast food, nothing really spectacular but just typical and reliable. Overall a nice breakfast spot! Parking: Small parking lot in front of restaurant, a bit tight if you have a larger vehicle and when it s busy it s very hard to find parking.

This is our 2nd time being here after the renos were done. The first time we waited almost 40 minutes for our breakfast order, finally left without eating. Not sure if the waitress forgot to place the order or not, the restaurant was not unusually busy at all. No excuse for this. Today we thought wed try again to give them the benefit of the doubt, 10 minutes to get our coffee, once again not really busy. Finally we ordered, not too long of a wait. I ordered the seasonal fruit bowl, expecting something refreshing but no, what did I get, an orange sliced up and some blueberries underneath the oranges. Really and to charge for $7 for this, disgusting. I questioned it and was told well you did get blueberries and theyre seasonal. Definitely wont be back, not the place it was before the renos. Sad!! Parking: Good parking close to the restaurant.

We were ending off a week long camping trip and wanted a good breaky... We were greeted within a couple moments to seat ourselves. We waited almost 15 min to be helped, at which point we got up and left. It appears that customer service isnt a strong suit. Service : 1/5

This is a really good place for breakfast, I eat there whenever in town. Try the vegetarian omelet, with spinach! Daily specials should go on tables, not just on a chalkboards by the door. Pick your servers wisely. Will visit again soon.

The only breakfast restaurant in Huntsville downtown opens at 7 am. A typical one, no fancy menus here.

Great friendly service, decent atmosphere... awful parking lot for a truck... Food was meh... hard over eggs, an old sausage that had seen the deep fryer too many times, and raw potatoes which seemed to have been blanch-boiled at some time in the past, but were inedible... Really cheap though, so it balances out...

A tried-and-true fact of travelling is to eat where the locals do. This rings all the more true in the case of The Family Place, which has stood as a pinnacle of Huntsville for 50+ years. Look no further for Canadian hospitality, hot coffee and a hearty meal in this beautiful restaurant, with its classic decor, welcoming personnel and open kitchen. I had the vegetarian omelettes, my wife the pancakes with maple syrup, and we continued our roadtrip afterwards with full bellies and fuller hearts. The perfect place to conclude our visit to Algonquin Provincial Park with (or to start yours with)! Vegetarian options: A good spread of breakfast, lunch and dinner options, with 1-2 options for section with enough variety to satisfy most.

My sister, her son, and I had breakfast there the other morning, and it was delicious. Portions were great. The service was fast and friendly. It wasnt packed with customers at the time we were there, but when you see a place that is busy, you know the food is good!! I highly recommend!!

Had breakfast here for the first time and it was amazing! Big portions, great selection and delicious food. Theres a variety of options from basic eggs/bacon/hashbrowns to more bougie (like the Belgium waffles I got). The prices are very reasonable and there were daily specials. The atmosphere was nostalgic and on the quieter side, despite being pretty busy. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend and will definitely come back when Im in the area.

Prices are very reasonable compared to what is available in the are. Its a diner and you would expect a diner quality food, but in fact food quality is top notch. We went there twice in 4 days we stayed in the area, everything we ordered including the deserts were delicious. If you are in the area, I would suggest skipping the expensive options in the area and give them a shot, you wont be disappointed.

The food was very good and tasty

The first time we tried to get breakfast they were so busy we got take out and it was delicious. The second visit we ate in for dinner and it was so worth it! I had a pizza, it was so good I ordered another to bring home and share. This is the perfect little family place as its namesake suggests. We will be back fosure!

Special shoutout to BRANDY for being the best waitress we have ever had the pleasure of encountering. She was absolutely phenomenal and a treasure. Even though it was busy, she kept up her cheerful demeanor. The food was fantastic. Had the small breakfast with added onions, hollandaise sauce and fried mushrooms. It was sooo good! I loved that mushrooms were an option if you dont want meat. Brandy kept topping up our coffee which was greatly appreciated. All in all , I highly recommend coming here for a great home cooked breakfast and excellent family friendly service.

This used to be a great restaurant. Since the new owners took over this is no longer a go to place. The food is not as good as it used to be. They don t even use cheese curds in their poutine anymore.

Food is traditionally western and fine but nothing spectacular. However the people there are lovely and friendly. Theyre willing to adjust the order based on each guests preference, which is much appreciated.

The name says it all. We were greeted by I believe one of the owners and it felt like family right away. The food came fast and the prices were very reasonable. Its not a fancy place but it has a big menu. I would totally recommend this place to anyone.

Family friendly, lots of food options, friendly and fast service

Great breakfast/brunch place, lovely and efficient service, good portion sizes. Its very relaxed and pleasant to be there. Farmers breakfast is my favourite. Have not tried their pizza yet.

One of my go to places for a great breakfast while in Huntsville. . Food is really good, a little pricy, but they do offer a small breakfast under 10.00. Ive also heard that their pizza is good!

This is across the road from Wimpys. Both are excellent. The Wimpys crowd is a little younger and with more tourists. Whereas this place seemed packed full of locals. Breakfast was great as was the service.

Stopped in just looking for a breakfast spot and found a gold mine. Had an absolutely delicious breakfast. The eggs benedict were amazing and its so nice to see a place that serves a real good size cup of coffee.....always been a pet peeve of mine....the service was amazing and I cant wait to try the dinner menu. As soon as we walked in the door it felt like a welcome home kind of feeling. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was delicious and hot, very good coffee served in home mugs. Loved the place

Have to wait for more than 45 mins. Two other groups came had food and left, but we are still waiting for ours! If you are planning to kill your time waiting for the food and doing nothing, best place to be. My recommendation- Order food, visit Algonquin and come back for the food hoping it would be ready. Weve come here for breakfast a few times and it was fast and delicious.

It was busy on Thursday around 5:00 pm but we got a seat right away. The restaurant seems to be quite popular. We were told to sit where we wanted and got a booth near the window. Staff is friendly but busy...my soup arrived after the main; we cancelled the coffee that we ordered with the dessert as we had already finished the dessert by then. The pulled pork sandwich was good... the favor of the pulled pork wasnt overwhelming which was just right. The cabbage in the cole slaw could have been chopped more finely and the mashed potato was not that tasty. The spilt pea soup was very good. The 10 oz steak was cooked as ordered and was okay. Didnt order the pizzas but there are many toppings to choose from and seems to be a popular item. The menu had a wide variety of food and dessert choices.

Resonable prices for real food!!! Hands down my favorite restaurant in Huntsville. The only not so positive thing i can say is that they can get really swamped (a sign of a good restaurant) & personally think they should move to a bigger location. theyd definitely get the business!! This was my first and last time ordered a open face beef paddy with fries I got roast beef with fries no problem they took my order back to fix it 20 too 25 minutes later I get my order every one was done theirs so a long comes my order beef paddy smash potatoes and vegetables not what I want at all so that was my experience I will definitely not going back

This is a step back in time to mom s kitchen with freshly made food, warm-hearted service, and great prices! They re celebrating 50 years and I can see why they ve been around for so long! The old lady who was serving us was very very rude , firstly i went to timmies before so i said no for any drinks so she tap me on my shoulder aggressively and said hey water is free and than i asked for desserts there was just 1 option which i didnt wanted so i told no and her reaction was awfull she made some faces and when she brought the bill she smacked the bill on the table and said tip me atleast 20 percent and apart from this the food was awfull ordered garlic creamy pizza no taste of garlic awfully blend food crust burnt pizza overall bad value for money never visit this place , they are very racist
