BEST OYSTERS in the state!! They are actually the best oysters I have ever eaten anywhere! We had two dozen. We got the Gulf ones. They had been harvested earlier this morning! The lobster roll was SPECTACULAR as well! As good as or BETTER than the ones we had in NYC. Friendly service, clean place, outdoor seating.
We stopped in for a drink and oysters since we were early for our dinner reservation. Great find in Huntsville, I have already but this on the return list because they sell a massive bloody mary that comes with a list of other things including an entire lobster.
I got 12 gulf oysters raw they were perfect nice medium size which i like, the sauce that comes with it is great! For entree i got the creole turtle soup with oztail i got it because ive never had turtle soup and always heard its good, let me tell you it is awesome! Drinks were the cherry on top i got salt of the sea which was a refreshing tequila drink. I will be recommending this place to anyone coming to huntsville! Also have to give props to the waiter who was bartending, waiter, runner and im sure other things, this man was hustleing i hope he gets paid what hes worth!
Our server, Kyle, was radiating with kindness and joy! The ahi tuna tacos were one of the best things I have ever eaten. I wish they were bigger! LOL We sat outside and enjoyed the architecture from the nearby buildings. Will definitely be back!
Was skeptical at first about the oysters, had previous experiences where they were good but ended up to be okay. But this place, they took the time to clean every oyster and I felt that these were fresh and clean. The prep went above and beyond and skid right off the shell. Born and raised floridian and this landlocked place in Alabama ranked higher. The chowder, shrimp and tuna tacos, and beer selection was the piece de resistance to a wonderful experience.
We stopped in during happy hour and tried the east coast raw oysters which were on special. Out of this world good! Liz, our bartender did a great job. Inside tables are 2-tops; if you have more than 2 people in your party there are a couple of 4-tops out front and some additional tables in the back in the parking garage. Well worth a visit!
Ahi tuna tacos are fantastic!!! Great service, the managers here are super friendly. Great food and value for the price. Highly recommend eating here, best place in downtown Huntsville.
This place was a pleasant surprise. The seafood was amazing and the beer excellent. Highly recommend the tuna tacos paired with the mango beer. Relaxing vibe. They have 3 areas of seating. One in front of the restaurant, inside and out back in a parking lot area. It’s unique but not a bad thing. See pictures for details. There was not much airflow inside so I recommend opening the door out back for a cross breeze. Other than that this place was excellent and the service was spot on. Enjoy!
Food was delicious Server knew the menu very well and was able to answer all our questions regarding the dishes and drinks The vibe and atmosphere was very beautiful Wheelchair accessibility: It s a long flight of stairs to the restaurant.
East coast oysters were excellent!
Great lobster roll
Food was unique and delicious. Great options and fast service.
The food is really good, BUT, the Lobster Roll is unbelievable. I have traveled the country and had my share of lobster rolls. THIS is the BEST one I have ever found. Dont even ask me how it ended up in Huntsville, it just did.
The tacos were tasty but the size of micromachines. The lobster roll was lukewarm.
Came in for a few bites and a pint or two. Enjoyed the tacos, but the lobster roll was just, ok. Our waiter was aloof and made a few mistakes that we ended up paying for. My wife enjoyed her east coast oysters.
My favorite place to get oysters! Delicious food and beer!! Food
If i could give this less than one star I would. It would a pleasure to know how the food taste but we weren t even given that opportunity to begin with. Instead, we were met with the assumed bartender on a call on speaker in front of the store front. And the rest of the staff wandered through the small space aimlessly and in silence. We sat for around 15 minutes or so waiting to even be greeted after we sat down however that never happened. After exchanging silent , awkward (and silent) looks with the staff, we decided to leave. At LEAST one of the cooks came from the back to inform the bartender that he had a table (even though he watched us walk in) but even then there was no interaction. If this was the last open place in Huntsville Alabama, I d be better off eating on a dirt road in the middle of no where then expect to be sat, served, or even spoken to at Sea Salt.
The lobster roll was 10/10! Amazing customer service with a great atmosphere. Will be back!!
Visited for the first time for a pre-symphony dinner. Everything was delicious, and the staff was charming. The Alabama gulf coast oysters were fantastic, and the ahi tacos were also worth going back for.
Fun little place on a corner in downtown. Good atmosphere, great service! Best for singles or couples. Seating for larger groups gets awkward. Oysters were excellent, so were the ahi tacos and the guacamole. No one in our party liked the brie in the adult grilled cheese. Might return for the oysters.
Oysters, Shrimp cocktail, Lobster cocktail, and drinks were delicious. Service was quick. Atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Will definitely come again!
Great food, well prepared. Drinks were mixed well and bartender was incredible. CJ was attentive, friendly and made great food recommendations.
Tiny space that packs a punch. We went on a slower Sunday, the only customers in the bar. Service was quick and delicious. Oysters were phenomenal and the ahí tuna tacos and grilled cheese were outstanding - you MUST get the tacos if you enjoy ahi tuna.
I had been wanting to try this place for so long and finally after parking a block away and paying to park it was NOT worth it. The soup is canned. The smoked fish dip is really tuna salad with NO smoked flavor. The grilled cheese with lobster was digusting. I paid 60 dollars and I would have been better off at Captain Ds. Will never go back.
Delicious ahi tuna tacos and beer selections. Chill relaxing atmosphere! I love the Church Street family restaurants!
I thought this place would be bigger on the inside. The grilled cheese that I got was too stuffed and creamy, so I got the shrimp cocktail as an extra. They only give you five or six pieces of shrimp. The chips that they had were my favorite.
Our visit was short and sweet this afternoon. I personally loved the vibe inside the restaurant, my partner and I ate outside at one of the tables since the weather was nice. Knocking off a star as one of the oysters in my half dozen was comically small. Like, the size of a nickel small. BUT they were the best tasting oysters I have ever had, despite the size. The salmon tacos were phenomenal. I would definitely stop by again to try some of the other menu items in the future.
I get the tuna tacos almost once a week. Just enough spicy, super crunchy gyoza shells, delicious tuna, and avocado mousse. Little bite-size tacos... perfection. I love all of the staff, especially Terrence, Jay, Melissa, and Ryan.
Wow, I cant believe Ive missed this spot downtown. Great food and awesome servers who took care of our rowdy group deserve all 5 stars. The beer selection was amazing, and having a bartender who took an interest in walking you through several different beers throughout the night was enjoyable. Keep up the great work yall!
We had a great lunch experience at SeaSalt today!! The rain could not dampen our day. Food and service were 5-star!! Vegetarian options: One friend had the mushrooms sandwich, which she said was excellent. Parking: We parked in the garage and walked half a block under cover (remember: it was raining!) Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from the sidewalk through door or open garage door.
Great drinks ! Amazing oysters !
Awesome food, it was great to try oysters from all over the world. Not only that but the clan chowder and tuna tacos were some of the best Ive ever had.
We were there late Friday night, and the 5 stars is for the man working that night l, he was very attentive and friendly. The Ahi Tuna tacos they were also 5 star, but the ceviche isn t something I d order again.
Love this place
Good food and good people work there
Let me say GO SEE Terrance TUHDAY. I mean any day, but the day you read this, go see him. Hes a bar masterrrrr. If there is such a thing, hes it. The grilled cheese was fun also. The service they give is second to none. Did I mention Terrance. Oh ok 2 times a charm. Hes a hoot. To know his drink are to love them.
Great key lime pie
What a great place to grab a quick bite. The mushroom sandwich was out of this world. Vegetarian options: The mushroom sandwich trust me
For the amount of money you pay, there are much better places to choose. Food was ok, meet was good, service was not good.
Great little place. Oysters are great.
Stopped in here for a drink while shopping around downtown. The atmosphere of the bar is OK. No A/C. Its small. Its a bar that serves some food, not a bar and restaurant. Beer selection is robust; a nice combination of your standard beers and craft beers. The bartender was nice enough. We ordered the Adult grilled cheese and it was a flop. They used plain, old white bread for an $18 sandwhich?!? Cmon yall. Sea Salt should bop over to MELT and take a page or 2 from their playbook on how to make a grilled cheese.
Delicious oysters
Need more menu items. Only raw oysters and cold lobster
Only raw oysters and beer I wasnt impressed at all
Freshest oysters this side of Huntsville. A little pricey on the oysters
We had oysters. They were delicious West Coast oysters from Washington, no name given. Also ceviche and shrimp cocktail. The ceviche was delicious and the shrimp was good but overcooked in my opinion. Im pretty picky about overcooked seafood. They were large and sweet though as well as a little chewy. The thing that bothered me were the chips with the ceviche were a little stale, like not old but just not crunchy. And the crackers and corn nuts too. Im not that into crackers and chips so no big deal for me but why? The crackers were saltines, seasoned in house. We sat at the bar, there were a ton of beers and some wine on tap, it was lunch and we drove from a couple hours away, so did not have any beer. There was outdoor seating and music, also a few small tables but over very small inside and very casual. There wasnt much atmosphere, but it was pleasant enough. TVs had sports and actually Wheel of fortune playing, for what its worth. Parking: Accessible to back of restaurant. I think there were picnic tables out back in the garage area. I had parked on the street. There was closed circuit video of the parking lot.
Great place for oysters and beer. Mainly sea food items on the menu. They have some different types of oysters. The place used to be where you could try different beers and just pay per ounce, but now you just order a glass.
This was our first visit and last; even if we were offered a free meal, we wouldnt go back. I have never had as bad of service as we had today at Seasalt. The server did not speak to us; even when he took our order, he just stared; literally, no words came out of his mouth. However, he was all talk and laughing at the bar. So, his loss because we typically tip well above 20%. As for the food, it was mediocre, the oysters were inconsistent, some good some not. The ahi tacos were just okay it seemed like they were attempting a shoyu sauce but the sauce was just so overpowering that you couldn t really enjoy the ahi.
Cool little spot, excellent service, drinks and oysters!!!
Amazing
Updated review 11/28/23: so, I originally gave this place 5 stars. I came back and was extremely disappointed. The ceviche dish looked nothing like the pictures I originally posted below. It was 70% serving of greens this time and barely any fish, and the fish tasted like it has zero citrus on it. Giving it three stars now as I find that fair for the mixed food quality. OLD REVIEW 2022:Ordered the Florida Snapper Ceviche and I would give it a 8/10 which is way more than I was expecting! The fish itself was delicious and tasted fresh. I loved to see the cancha and sweet potatoes, very traditional. My only complaint is that the lime juice was too bitter and there wasn t any spice. They incorporated jalapeños and I just felt like they didn t belong there (I love jalapeños too). Aji or Rocoto was definitely needed. My Peruvian friend Carla taught me that the key trick to getting perfect lime juice is to not juice your lime all the way, that s how you prevent the rind\bitterness taste. I drank the leche de Tigre of course but it wasn t as MMM MMM GOOD as it could ve bc of the bitterness from the lime juice. Would definitely return again when my ceviche cravings hit and I don t want to drive to TN it GA for it. Service was great and atmosphere was welcoming.
Food and drinks were amazing. We were out for a relaxing evening. Staff was super frindly, very helpful and added to the experience. The Ahi Tacos were the perfect pairing for a couple of drinks and some good live music. Thank you for the recommendation. It was a far reach for me, seeing as I do not do raw seafood. I was feeling a bit adventurous and gave it a shot. It was well worth it. Definetly will be back.
Food was great! Staff was not that friendly. No greeting. Barley a good bye. Mgr. Didnt want to answer where the oysters came from. No one else knew either. 4 Employees. 4 customers that day. Geez.
Good place for quick oysters and a drink. Reasonable prices and great service.
Great oysters. Good beer. Good service.
Excellent oysters! I really enjoyed my visit
Had the Manhattan Clam Chowder and a DELICIOUS Grilled Cheese that had Crab, Brie Cheese and more. Has a slight sweet taste and then the heat will hit you from the spice but its a good spice heat.
My husband and I split the lobster and grilled cheese and crab sandwich it was really good. We want to go back for the raw oysters next. Hopefully tomorrow before we leave.
Fresh oysters, great beer selection!
Nice mood, fresh oysters and 23 kinds of craft beers!
Great atmosphere, convenient to get to. Great oysters and beer selection.
Terence is so friendly and helpful! You will greatly enjoy their oysters!!!
The oysters were delicious!! Service was great and beer menu solid. Would go again!
Awesome beer options, always something I havent tried and always an option I love. The foot is stupendous. Oysters are always on par and the tuna tacos are for real Hawaii level spiced. Wish we could get out more, but its always our first stop!!
Fresh selection and great service
Friendly!
Sea Salt is actually a great place to hang out on a lazy afternoon whether you like seafood or not. The impressive beer list (and growing wine list) are as much an attraction as the fresh oysters.
Very good oysters!
Oysters were really fresh and very good. Great little spot with a decent beer selection and just enough menu options to satisfy you. Try the chowder, it s awesome!
Very unusual restaurant with some very unique menu items. Raw oysters from here are extremely fresh, but about $8 more than other places. Also serves great local beer
Great spot! Simply wonderful oysters
Excellent oysters! The fish tacos were amazing!
Wonderful.... thats all I can say. Super fresh, delectable, juicy, fat, flavorful oysters. Different varieties too. Never had a West Coast oyster, but now Ive had 12.
The atmosphere is giving small and quaint. They serve craft beer and wine but no liquor. I had a ChiChiBoomBoom! You gotta try that if you love a sweet and sour taste. I ordered the salmon tacos. They were small but tasty. It reminded me of sushi in a taco shell. Worth a visit!
It was an experience, didnt know it was all raw fish. I did like the Florida snapper.
Overpriced. Lobster had zero flavor...tasted like it was frozen for a very long time.
First, I just need to say that the oysters were DELICIOUS. I even found two little pearls. With that being said, I wish I could rate 3.5 stars as a rating of 3 seems too low, and 4 too high. There truly is nothing like having oysters shucked for you, and they did a good job. But Sea Salt is more of a dive than a bar. (Just know what experience you re going for, and you ll love it-if you love oysters like I do.) The restaurant s open-wall layout to the street is a fun change from most restaurants, but the charm sort-of ends there. The music was extremely loud and I was actually surprised at the selection. Very basic . Pop. No atmosphere creating indie or culture nods to the Gulf. Oh well. You can t win in the music department every time. If you want to watch sports or people crashing their cars, bikes and selves into things on fail tv , you could watch said channels at the same time, and on multiple screens. Not really a $20 a plate lunch atmosphere but MAN those oysters were good. DEFINITELY GO GULF COAST.
Great food, great service and great open atmosphere. I can not say enough good about this place.
Good oyster bar downtown. Lot of quirky beers on tap but half of them were not available. Oysters were really good
Great service and fresh food. Prices were much to high for the amount of food received. Great adult beverage choices. Parking: Downtown parking can be difficult, however there is a paid parking garage close by.
Best oysters on any sidewalk in Huntsville
Tap Wall is great. Food is great. There are only 2 tables that seat more than 2 people though (those seat 4) so this is best suited for couples, not groups or families.
Had several things to share, all good, great Huntsville beer
Only giving four stars for the lack in seating and that i also belive their menu could really use some diversity. But this is the only place aware of atm to enjoy crunchy salty wonderful west coast oysters.
Food is very bad and over price for what you get.
Top notch East,West,and Gulf oysters!!!
Amazing oysters and seafood, service was great too loved the atmosphere and vibe. However that was not true key lime pie, it should be pie texture not jelly, and the crust was too hard please update that and this will be my favorite place in Huntsville!
This is the place to go for amazing seafood especially fresh live oysters in Huntsville. They have a great selection of beer on draft and the service is impeccable.
Bartender was friendly and helpful with my gluten allergy requirements. We were very happy with our experience.
Let me start by saying: I love Purveyor! Its one of my favorite restaurants! I was excited to try Sea Salt as they are also in the Churchstreet Family. It is a cute place albeit small. Sadly, I was disappointed with the food. It was a little bland (the ceviche could use more lemon/lime) and there was a strange gelatin substance in our smoked fish dip. We did inquire as to what it was and was informed it could be the celery. Maybe we popped in on an off-day.
visited fall 2022 This is a beer bar with some seafood. They have 3 types of oysters, and a few other sea food options. They do have a very limited liquor drink menu, but their main offerings are beer. The service was ok. This isnt an upscale restaurant, but if you want beer, oysters, and dont care about atmosphere, then this is the place. May go again.
Oysters were great and very fresh. I also really enjoyed the ceviche
Jordyn was fantastic
Food a little price for the tiny amount you get. Its more like tapas than a meal, but doesnt advertise that way. Bartender was nice.
This is a place Huntsville definitely needed. I am from New Orleans and so anytime we get a new place with seafood, I am all about it and this was excellent. Great atmosphere with lots of TV s! I was able to watch the Saints game. They had several different kinds of oysters and the shrimp was nice and big. Great beer selection with lots of taps. The bar even had where it would charge your phone if you laid it down, very cool! Staff was awesome, especially Ryan, who was taking care of us. He is always so helpful and knowledgeable. I can t wait to try more of the menu items, especially the adult grilled cheese, lobster, and king crab. We will definitely be back.
Nice variety of Gulf Oysters (Eastern Oysters), sauces, and beer. Do recommend.
Newly opening. East Coast, West Coast, and soon Gulf Coast oysters after theyre full opening. Ive been twice just during the soft opening. The staff is great. Its not a very large space, so very casual. They have a huge selection of beers. A great add for downtown and Huntsville. Highly recommended!
Service & food were great!
The oysters are really amazing. The menu of other food options are small. It seems to be just an oyster bar really. Lots of beer on tap. The service is just ok. Nothing to rave about, I had to wave down help multiple times. I was waiting on a friend and I was surprised that when she arrived no one offered her anything to drink or a menu for over 20 minutes. I had to wave them down and ask. Thank god I ordered some oysters before she arrived and we shared while we waited. The bar wasn t busy either. I would come here again for oysters definitely.
The place is really small. Their patio in front is super small and if you want more space, they literally sit you down in the huge parking under all the Air Conditioning. The parking garage table felt humid and hot naturally below the AC units, this is September we are talking. Maybe something has to do with being in a parking. We ordered Oysters and they didnt show upto the table for 45 minutes, all this while server was aloof. When we reminded them about our food, he simply said they might be running late. So after 10 more minutes Oysters come to our table swimming in the melted ice, no tobasco sauce present and appetizing just looked like it had been ready for sometime and neglected for good bit. When asked about this to the server, they were not amused that we were not happy with the experience. So naturally we asked for manager. The manager shows up, with a frowned face; we explain the situation and without even letting me finish he starts being condescending to us. Like they were doing us a favor by bringing the puddle of oysters and started saying that its hot outside thats why they melted. When we explained that thats how it came to our table, he completely disregarded our sentence by saying that its not possible. I used to work in service industry, I know how hard people work and sometimes customers are just picky about things. But it took a lot for us to be ticked off and being able to write this review. I later recognized the manager. He used to be a bartender at Jefferson St Pub, I guess hes been promoted to the manager, however, as they say, old tricks are hard to forget - the bartender bratty behavior didnt change. I was ecstatic about this new place with oysters being opened in HSV. On the surface it looked amazing; on the contrary, after this experience, you bet, we will not be going back and I am certain that the manager and the management would care less. I highly dont recommend this place. You can also look at the menu quality - a copy of an actual menu.
Oysters....yum!!!!
The ceviche is OK but the manhattan chowder was very good and I highly recommend it( add optional crab)
Awesome place!
Great oysters and good beer selection
Didnt see charbroiled oysters on the board, so we left.
Great oyster bar. Multiple selections from the East coast, West coast and Gulf Coast along with other tapas style entrees. Wide selection of craft beers both from local brewers and across the country. Service was very good.
Terrance was awesome! Nothing better than trying different oysters from other parts of the country. And new twist on the adult grilled cheese was not that bad. Will definitely go back.
Amazing good, drinks, and service! This is definitely going into our rotation.
Fantastic Find! Ate here for lunch for the first time and enjoyed an excellent meal with wonderful service. Tried a variety of oysters, fresh shrimp cocktail and fish dip all delicious! This is a great addition to the city. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back for many more visits. Can t wait to try more of the menu!
Not a big place, really a shotgun of a bar squeezed into the corner of the downtown parking garage, but that gives it some fun character. Staff was super-friendly, wide selection of beers, and the oysters were fresh. Not cheap, but what Id expect to pay for fresh shipped-in oysters in Huntsville.
After two prior attempts in which they were out, I finally was successful in getting the ceviche. Sea salt seems to excel in producing fresh, moderately portioned dishes from a limited menu with premium ingredients. While I cant say it beats the best ceviche I have had at Peruvian restaurants in Orlando and Miami, the dish held its own and I plan to go back.
Discovered this recently. Cool little place with decent craft beer selection. For those not wanting oysters they have shrimp, lobster and other selections. Nice place, good staff.
Nice selection of fresh oysters, but a shy and unengaged team...
The ahi tacos were unexpectedly amazing and perfect for a bite-size lunch
One of my new favorite places in town! Collins is great, the salmon dip is so delish, and the ceviche could be straight from Peru.
