Excellent service
The best food ever
Love the food and service here. I am unable to speak french but they were always able and willing to accomodate my party for lunch or dinner. Lunch variety is excellent and very reasonable cost. Dinner menu is more expanded and larger portions and associated cost. Very relaxed and homey atmosphere.
I attended a supper with a group of about 12 people and to be fair I was the only one who didn't enjoy their meal, but I also eat anything. The table d'hote that evening was a lobster pasta with citrus sauce, beginner salad was simply Boston lettuce and a pinch of garnish. As for the main, I honestly asked the waitress if it was goberge, nothing in the way that it was made left me to believe this was actual lobster. And the sauce was simply evoo; no taste of citrus at all. The wait staff made me feel as though I had completely no reason to even suggest that it wasn't lobster. I would have simply suggested to have plated differently as to not even create a doubt in the customers mind. I had two desserts because they were delicious, the coffee too.
No excuse not to take a detour to try out this place out! We were there on May 20th 2018. From the starter to the dessert, total freshness. Very relaxing atmosphere. We did not visit the terrasse but pretty certain that would further enhance the bistro experience. Une belle excuse de s’y rendre à nouveau. Éric L(West-Island)
An excellent restaurant and a wonderful discovery. We came here for my friend's birthday. The service is impeccable and friendly. The food is incredible, especially if you order the all-you-can-eat mussels (les moules à volonté)--the julienne fries are all-you-can-eat as well. I ordered from the table d'hôte menu. There is also a bistro menu. The wine selections are wonderful. They even keep the white wines refrigerated. This is a great restaurant to celebrate either in a group or one-on-one with that special someone.
Super resto j'adore
Food was ok'ish (snails were very good, the rest not so much) and the waitress sympathetic. But the service bad, prices ridiculous and the ambience awful, very noisy, with clients speaking loud and frequently even screaming. Sub-par, over-prized, not to recommend.
Food and service A bit noisy in the atmosphere when its crowded. Dietary restrictions: Around ten choices of mocktails. Very appreciated for me, who does not drink alcohol!
I love this place! The service is impeccable and the food is excellent and the portions are generous. Ill go back for sure!
A gentle and calm atmosphere, except for a really noisy group. Experience a Chef, at the top of his or her art, attentive and pleasant service, a very beautiful experience...to do again with pleasure
WoW! We had such a good time. The food is excellent. The snail is great, the squid is the best I have eaten in my life. The service was excellent. We were a group of 20 and everyone was excited. We will definitely return.
Relaxed atmosphere, hearty meal and excellent service
Very nice restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere and exceptional service! The food is great and very generous portions. The best chocolate cake Ive ever eaten in my life!
Very disappointed I ate a Chinese fondue usually its beef broth and onion there its tomato and lemon the meat was not red and black very very disappointed
Super nice terrace on the second floor with music not too loud. The waitresses are super friendly. The Cesard salad starter was delicious. The meal of homemade fish and chips had delicious and tasty fries and accompanying dips, but the fish unfortunately tasted too much like water. The waiting time to receive our plates is longer than the average for other restaurants of this type. The meal was a nice portion for the price. However, I wouldnt go back, the menu isnt varied enough for my taste and its not their fault, Im not their typical clientele. I wanted to try it and thats it
Our frog legs were excellent. One with garlic and the other with Cajun. So rare are the restaurants that do it. (There is one in Oka). Excellent service, kind, polite and with a very beautiful smile. Very well eaten. Ah yes, very good fries served hot.
Delicious and perfect service.
GOOD
Good food Good choice Impeccable service
No matter the day of the week, you can never go wrong with this restaurant.
Cocktail tastes like water, huge plate but nothing on it, few meal choices.
Very pleasant staff, very good portions on the plate and also very good cocktails served I recommend
An excellent meal, an attentive waitress, a charming place! For a romantic dinner or for a special event, any occasion is good to go eat at La Belle Excuse!
New Years Day dinner. Onion soup, juicy and tender Cornish chicken with shiitakes, lions mane, oyster mushrooms, truffles, log for dessert. Refined and delicious. We are delighted.
Always well served, the food is very good. Let the choice be his. Parking: We were 4 people
Delicious
The portion size may leave something to be desired depending on the dish chosen. Rather long waiting time for the main course, but good quality and good service
Very good service
Excellent table with equally excellent service. Well done!!
The staff is very welcoming! The food was very good ! We have to go back for the frog legs
It was my restaurant and unfortunately it was the last time we were 12 people and no one is going to go back there very very disappointed and the owner is very arrogant, she couldnt care less about losing customers... not great
Its a poor excuse for a restaurant, if you have like two and a half hours of time to waste waiting for food, but go ahead its the Ideal restaurant for that. And when you order a steak Who and suppose to come with Of the Fries and vegetables but they bring you your steak alone first and who only comes back to bring you next to ten Minutes later when your steak And made cold, its not Strong. And there s no point talking to the staff about your dissatisfaction because they don t really care about you. There were 12 people, one person from Our group ordered a medium-cooked filet mignon but received a completely raw filet mignon, They Mention the waitress who herself admits the mistake and she Its an excuse (not his Its her fault anyway) but she comes back 5 Minute later to say that they are going Redo your net Cute when all People at our table And already served and have almost finished their meal, It didnt give him the Taste of waiting another two and a half hours for a plate and who will be left to eat alone. So they politely refused their offer to redo their meal. But because the gentleman ate two small bites they said that the gentleman would have to pay 50% of the price of the filet mignon due to the fact that he supposedly ate 50% From the net Cute who and Completely necessary. I went to see the owner to tell her about All the problems and I him and Mention that the Gentleman who received the Raw filet mignon And a fairly regular customer of the restaurant and It was he who invited us 12 Nobody has this restaurant and They often bring groups To this Restaurant that loved Both during the Last years, And I said To the owner that if she goes Charge sir 50% of the bill that there are Strong Chance that this Customers will no longer return to their establishment. She preferred to pocket 25.00 Dollars this Evening instead To absorb it and do it again More Money with him in the Future . But she didnt really care and that didnt seem to worry her too much. Personally I find that these The worst decision a restaurant owner can make.
The best restaurant in Joliette!
Beautiful evening!
Always a great experience with impeccable service and incredible food!!
The snails were special and excellent. Yes, the mussels and fries were large and excellent. Very good service
Excellent service! That being said, the food was rather disappointing considering the price. It wasnt bad, but the Caesar salad tasted really a lot like garlic, to the point where the taste remained in your mouth even after the whole meal, the $20 burger had almost no toppings and was rather dry, and the cream of my crème brûlée was separated. I love this place and maybe it was just a bad night of cooking, but it wasnt up to the food Im used to. I point out that I mentioned some of her problems to the waitress, but at the end of the service I refrained as I felt bad for her who offered us such good service.
Amazing service and absolutely delicious meals! Probably the best restaurant in Joliette
Very good service and the food was so tasty that my mouth was watering. We were welcomed by a very friendly team who made us feel at home. Very nice experience and we will definitely return. I recommend everyone to go there at least once to discover this welcoming restaurant.
Excellent food and impeccable service. We went there for a happy hour dinner with colleagues and it was a very nice evening!
We had asked for a quiet table, we were pampered, welcomed like VIPs, and took all the time we needed to chat while enjoying a sumptuous meal.
If you want to treat yourself to a restaurant worthy of the best in the world, you will find it by presenting yourself at the beautiful excuse. Courteous and attentive staff. Exceptional food. Great excuse = great experience. Thanks to Rose and Catherine Vegetarian options: Terrific tartare and salads Parking: Free paid street parking on weekends
Friendly atmosphere and courteous staff but what can we say about the menu. The once decadent game burger turned into a very disappointing pork burger. The rib, which was also delicious, was very fatty and tough. On a Saturday evening, no oysters, no mussels. It was a restaurant that I really liked but now considering the quality/price ratio I will opt for another restaurant. Very sad!!
Very good
The meal was divine, everything was delicious!
Very nice terrace and we were very well received! The wine was good. I ordered a tuna tartare and they brought me a salmon tartare... The waiter didnt tell me before bringing me my plate... He took it for granted that it suited me. The plate of strip steak is really not worth $40!!! No vegetables, served with a basket of fries Lots of tirasses, very disappointing! Unfortunately, La Belle Excuse is a good restaurant, but I have the impression that it has not evolved over time... The clientele is very old, if the menu were a little more varied and different, it would help to bring a new clientele and at the same time improved the atmosphere! We will not go back!
Cesar salad - no taste no dressing and huge, dry pieces of bacon. The frog legs had clearly been reheated. Completely dried out, cold and tasteless. What a disappointment. It had always been a very good restaurant, but this is no longer the case. It was our last visit.
Beautiful bistro, outstanding service. Correct cuisine, poorly seasoned tartare and ordinary salad. Delicious frog legs and rare to see on a menu!
Beautiful covered terrace, excellent service. Arancini as a starter and salmon tartare, these two dishes were good but not wow. Very good beef tartare and extraordinary tagliatelle with wild mushrooms!
Great place, impeccable service. Very good dishes
Good food, relaxed atmosphere
Nice local and good service but very disappointed with the food. I ordered frog legs with garlic and received a dish covered in thick, fatty fried food. Garlic must have been present in homeopathic quantities... The fries are served without wax paper directly in a plastic basket - not very clean...
overcooked mussels and frog legs
We went for dinner, it was the first time but not the last as our meals were delicious, nice portions. We also had impeccable service. Parking: On the street and on the side of the restaurant
Loved it!!! Very good service Cant wait to go back....
Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff.
The last meal was very disappointing. First of all we went there for the lamb. No lamb. I took losso bucco. Smaller portion than before, and less tasty. The filet mignon overcooked and cold. The bill too high. Not sure Ill go back.
Really disappointed by this restaurant after ordering our dessert to finish our meal the waitress came back to tell us that we had to leave because the table was reserved for other customers and if we ever wanted to finish our meal it would be at the bar. The manager clearly told us that it was up to us to manage our meal time and not their fault that we knew we had 2 hours (perhaps it was up to us to go and cook in their kitchen)??? . The tartare was bland, the frog legs too greasy, the rice tasteless, what more can I say.... The restaurant is aptly named because the manager always has a nice excuse. And doesnt care about the customer. I definitely wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.
Lovely evening and good service
Service too slow its race 1h30 to receive a meal not very good degeulas dessert for a price too expensive
Great and very good good service
Scam? The restaurant had been reserved for a brunch for around thirty people, thank you to the restaurant for having made this effort, unfortunately the prices of certain dishes were completely abusive, to the point that it just seemed like a scam, first time I have paid a French toast (only 1 slice, with 2 strawberries and a little chocolate) $20. I left the restaurant having paid 1 toast for $20, thank you for this toast .
Exceptional service and so is the food! To try it is to adopt it!
Great restaurant, beautiful atmosphere, welcoming staff and what can I say about the food, fresh fish, succulent duck breast and what can I say about the starters, I really recommend it!
Festive atmosphere but above all WOW plus food. As well as table service with a menu for everyone. It s a great discovery for me and I m definitely going to go back.
Good morning, We were a group of 14 and for the most part we didnt like our meal. The tartars, like the pasta, tasted nothing. In addition, the prices are expensive. On the other hand, the service was good.
Wow our first time and not the last!! We were on motorbikes, good food, good prices and a warm atmosphere. Thank you very much
Very good meal, friendly place, smiling staff
Warm atmosphere. Good food temperature. Smiling and welcoming staff. I recommend without hesitation.
We return to the moment of La belle excuse. We are shocked by the treatment you received. First of all, we want to emphasize that the service was very pleasant and friendly. But... First course: Fried squid (succulent, perfectly fried, ideal texture, a real delight) and grilled octopus (good, but for octopus fans, a little disappointing because we only had pieces of tentacles and not a nice variety of pieces. A little overcooked, but still tasty.) We shared our comments with the nice waitress. Second course: Mushrooms three ways: A DELIGHT! Followed by the fish of the day (mahi-mahi). It was good, nothing more. the fish was overcooked. We gave our comments, politely, again, to the waitress. Third course: Duck breast ($30 per plate). For our taste it was overcooked. My partner and I (Im not usually picky) really didnt like it. We took a bite and advised the waitress that we didnt like it because of the cooking. I would like to point out that my partner has 17 years of experience in catering, in restaurants with an excellent reputation. He is demanding, but fair. Its goal is not to criticize, but to have a good evening and to have a satisfactory experience. Heres what happened when we sent the duck breast back to the kitchen: The owner came to our table to ask us the causes of our dissatisfaction. When we told her that the breast was overcooked for our taste, she justified herself by saying that duck breast should be cooked that way. The customer was everything except right. I immediately noticed the lack of openness to discussion. According to her, she sells hundreds of them, she has never had any complaints. So we had to love it as is. My partner asked if it was possible to cook it less and she said it was impossible. And that it was VERY strange, VERY strange as a criticism. Then, from there, my partner said: Okay, so what do you suggest? To which she replied: Were going to have to make it for you in tartare! (Pretending that he was impossible not to cook it less). I felt really insulted. As I felt very uncomfortable with this turn of events, we simply asked for the bill. To our great astonishment, she loaded us with the duck breast (which we neither ate nor, above all, liked!) No apology, no compassion, no solution, no desire to satisfy the customer (we still had 3 starters, two main courses, two cocktails and wine!) When my partner noticed that the duck breast was charged, he asked to speak to the owner again. She absolutely did not want to remove it from the bill. After long discussions, she told the waitress to remove the duck breast, saying (and I quote) Take it off the bill, he needs it more than me... Another insult. We have NO problem paying for a good experience. I found his insinuations petty and baseless. After reading the responses this person gives to negative reviews, I know they will have certain retorts to downplay our experience. The reality is that we are the customers, we spent over $200 in his restaurant and we will NEVER, EVER go back there.
Bad
Excellent as always thank you
Always a great excuse to come back
Except for the waitress Alexanne who was wonderful, our experience was horrible! The food tasted absolutely nothing, was not at a decent temperature (hot tartare, cold duck breast) and it took 2 hours before we received our starter (the meal, 1 hour more). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT. Extremely expensive for what it is.
Very disappointing
The service was awesome and the food absolutely delicious! On the other hand, the chairs on the upstairs terrace were not very comfortable. Next time I go Ill probably make reservations for a table inside so I can have nicer chairs.
A small bistro-style restaurant located in Joliette. We had outstanding service, courteous, efficient and with a smile which added to the experience. However, the food, although tasty, was in insufficient quantity. For example, my escargots bourguignons which only contained about 2-3 snails and My plate of boudin only contained a small boudin sausage on a succulent garlic potato base but which gave a sad look without any other accompaniment. The wine list was well stocked. However, for the overall work, I recommend this restaurant-bistro.
Congratulations to all the staff and especially those in the kitchens
the service was great, the atmosphere pleasant and for the meal it was worth the price it was very tasty
$50 overcooked filet mignon sprinkled with sawdust and beets. Very disappointed. *I expressed my dissatisfaction. I was offered dessert which I politely declined. - You say served with seasonal vegetables. As vegetables are written in your menu with an s, I would have expected a variety of choices. Certainly not a dozen beets with a filet mignon. - The displayed price is $44. With tax and tip, we are over $50. - Writing a review requires additional effort, the goal is not to denigrate or criticize for the sake of criticizing, but to inform your future customers.
truly a pleasant experience, an excellent meal. Quality products, perfect service. Really no criticism to make. In terms of the invoice, the price is correct given the services and products served. for sure we will come back to it.
Where to start? I would summarize by mentioning that nothing we ate at this restaurant, whether: the mushroom puff pastry (with mushrooms (from Paris) more absent than anything else) too salty and cold, the parmesan fondue, just as cold and not very tasty, ravioli bathed in a broth that was much too clear in which a few pieces of lobster were lost, the foie gras swimming in a very liquid sauce alongside a few grapes and vegetables that we could not clearly identify... In short , there were 4 of us and despite our open-mindedness (we had a wonderful day of golf :), everyone left there more than disappointed. To the owner: we expressed our dissatisfaction to our waitress (who also gives your restaurant 5 * on this same page! ;)... But I presume that the message did not reach YOU.
I strongly suggest you find another restaurant.... there were 4 of us for dinner and no one at the table was satisfied with their starter or main meal. Tasteless, untasty or downright bad are the words that characterize our experience. The four of us tried several dishes, so a good sampling of the menu. The owner is very quick to comment on negative reviews, she even has her servers make positive reviews. She should rather manage her kitchen and the dishes that come out of it better because La Belle Excuse is a disgrace in the restaurant business. Good choice of restaurant name.... Dear lady, you confirm, by your false words (we were not near other tables), the incompetence to manage a good table. Is wanting to eat well a problem? Customers have the right to express their opinions. I can give you some book titles on customer experience and customer service, that would help you greatly!
Really delicious for my parents-in-laws 50th. Perfect all round. Tasty, hot and fresh. Looking forward to returning there.
Excellent service and varied menu, offering extremely rare dishes (blood sausages, Savoyard fondue, etc.)
Excellent table, impeccable service!!!
Ordinary for the price $$$
The fried squid starter was dry and overcooked, its sauce disappointing and its lime dry. The Osso buco dish was too fatty, no accompanying vegetables and the meat tough. Very disappointed and the prices are expensive. Poor service almost non-existent.
First experience of this bistro restaurant, very good food and good service
Country cuisine of somewhat heterogeneous quality. The starters were stimulating, the main courses lacked originality.
An excellent restaurant! The tartare and mussels were tasty!
Very good good service
Very good to excellent.
Mixed feelings, my partner had a filet mignon steak even though the dish was good we were really disappointed by the quantity I have no idea of the weight of the piece but for the sake of transparency it would be good to mention it on the menu because the piece was really small, I had the feeling I had taken the childrens menu the only difference was the price of $44. The waitress was friendly but just regretted that upon seeing my dessert which I hardly ate (profiterolles not to my taste) and following my question to know if the choux was homemade the only answer I got its a yes without trying to find out more.
Excellent
Delicious I recommend it
Best restaurant in Joliette!!
Excellent food and atmosphere! Service a bit slow though.
Extra services and dishes
Recommended by friends, we loved this restaurant. Beautiful and warm atmosphere. Brigittes service was excellent and very attentive. Good selection of red wines ranging from $32 and up. We had an Italian wine for $32 and it was excellent. What to say about the food. Firstly, the menu is also very varied with a good range of prices. I had the snails with pork gratin, frog legs (lemon garlic sauce and 2nd portion of tequila lime....delicious and plump. My boyfriend had the green bean cream which was also very tasty and the sea chowder which was delicious. Without any hesitation I recommend this restaurant.
Excellent place, good food and good service.
EXCELLENT! Excellent service, nothing more to say, its worth it.
Very good good service but.the.prices are crazy its too expensive dsl
Beautiful and good little restaurant. The menu is elaborate and the dishes are delicious. The service is correct and discreet.
The place is warm with impeccable service, I set my sights on the 5-course bison table dhôte. The starters on this menu are perfectly balanced without running the risk of putting you off bison before the main course. The latter is precisely cooked in a very light vodka marinade which does not mislead you. Just the little problem of a potato with cream and bacon and too much green pepper sauce with this meat judiciously accompanied by its vegetables including the choice of cabbage is perfect making you quickly forget this difference (for my taste well heard). A real taste pleasure that is rarely disappointing when it comes to bistrology. The quality of the menu and the service amply justifies the prices offered.
Excellent service, very fast, very friendly staff, delicious food and drinks.
We went to your place for dinner yesterday, August 28, for our 44th wedding anniversary and the disappointment was great... 1st - the 2 mushroom puff pastries with noble cheese (which was absent) and which I had to pay for. 2nd - cheese fondue for dinner??? Sorry, but half an apple with 1 strawberry, a small bunch of grapes, a miniature potato and some bread croutons, 3 slices of pepper, and a mushroom... without any meat... its not a dinner. So rest assured that I will be your biggest publicist. A satisfied customer talks to 5 other people, a dissatisfied customer talks to 12...count me in. Jean Marc Hainey
Disappointing! Mixture in the reservations, 4 of us are seated on a small table for 2. We refuse to change places on the pretext that all the tables are reserved but we grant this privilege to a couple who have a table for 4. Waitress with no experience who knows not his menu. Tasteless Bloody Caesar. Bottle of wine served after the food. As for the food, too expensive for the price. Ravioli stuffed with lobster with orange sauce on the menu which arrives in a fish broth with no orange taste at $26. Plate of ribs $26 small portion served with a handful of fries and nothing else. Do not recommend this restaurant and not ready to return there.
Very very good service from Vanessa!!!
Its so much better never to return in my life and its expensive for if not good good luck sorry very bad experience its not like before
Everything was perfect and the service impeccable!
Excellent restaurant. Good dishes. The ribs are excellent. My wifes steak was medium rare. Good choice of privately imported wines. The crème brûlée for dessert is delicious. Bill a little high $150 with tips but you have to treat yourself from time to time.
The food isnt that bad but its not worth the price. Service was good
Incredible restaurant
Amazing service.
Very good food but the bill a little salty but its good when you want to pay
Nice atmosphere, good service but excessively expensive for certain dishes. Average quality of food for the price.
The best frog legs
Excellent cuisine; fast and courteous service
Disappointing we used to frequent this restaurant 2-3 times a year, its over. Mussels and accompanying broth not very good, questionable salmon tartare of a dull pink, too peppery and not very good. 3 out of four people disappointed!! And all this for $300!
Food not worse but very expensive
La Belle Excuse has been my go-to restaurant for frog legs for years, but unfortunately I have to find another one. The price exploded and the quantity melted like snow in the sun. There was a time when for $24 we had all we could eat, now for $30 we got a dozen. You have to pay $40 to get as much as you wanted like before, almost double the price. Super good service as always.
Wow yum
Good food and good service!
Really good frog legs highly recommended.
Third time and still delicious. Impeccable service, good advice... only good comments!
Beautiful little restaurant, good food, friendly employees, I recommend.
Beautiful restaurant, Excellent cuisine, impeccable service.
Great place...
Excellent restaurant with outstanding service
Excellent service by Audrey-Anne! Excellent restaurant in the region! Generous portions. Wonderful desserts
Yum yum
Very charming, excellence and consistency, relaxed, unpretentious, affordable choice of wine.
Its always a pleasure to come and eat at this restaurant. The dishes are excellent and the staff is very friendly!
Mussels overcooked during the rush, then they were perfect. As for the Chinese fondue, I was often asked if I still wanted meat and/or vegetables. Our glasses were always full and there was always bread on the table! I recommend
Excellent service. Pleasant atmosphere and delicious dishes.
A gastronomic must-see in Joliette!
The frog legs are excellent at this place and available for those with a big appetite!!
Too many customers on Saturday evening
Impeccable service and exceptional food. One of the best meals we have tasted. Beautiful atmosphere in a magnificent old renovated house. If you re in the area, the La Belle Excuse restaurant is definitely worth a detour!
Excellent restaurant, atmosphere as I like it and the waitress is great thank you Josiane sure I will come back and very soon
Later
Eat very well
Good service, good cheese fondue with good wine.
GOOD
Very good restaurant and the owner is great!!!
Really not exceptional service. Impossible to know what we are eating, one of the waitresses dropped a tray full of dishes at least 3 times and even forgot to bring one of the menu items. For the dishes, the quality of the products is there, but there are too many elements on the plates, too many different flavors, that the harmony of the dishes is greatly affected. The meat was cooked rare and it was well done. The privately imported wine was excellent. The upper terrace has a shed decor. In short, the $180 bill including tip for 2 people was much more impressive than the culinary experience...
New administration/cook, improved restaurant, excellent.
