Dorian Greek House in Kamloops

Tried to order take-out online ordering on their website did not work, so I tried calling immediately put on hold, but after 3 minutes of total silence (no hold music etc.) I thought the line had gone dead, so I hung up and dialled again. Person answering said they were very busy, so back on hold I went. 5 minutes later, someone picked up the line and said can I help you? , so I started to place a couple orders, but there was no one talking on the other end of the phone 2 minutes of me hearing background restaurant noise, but no one talking on the phone. I hung up and ordered dinner from a different restaurant.

Horrible service. If you want Greek food, just take It to go. Food

My wife an I tried to eat at Dorian , but the order got lost we were there over an hour, when we saw people that had shown up well after us we asked about our order,it was lost in the cloud, my wife was pissed off, me too,as we had a music event that night.

Nice place but the service was slow. To be fair it was a busy Saturday night. Calamari was slightly over done and the chicken souvlaki was dry. Portions are advertised as large but it is mostly rice and salad.

Angie was an amazing waitress and we ordered carnivore keto style and adjusted the menu to that and it was absolutely amazing and delicious and Angie was great and very friendly and accommodated our requests very well me and my mum enjoyed it thoroughly

The food was so massive! Luck they have massive Togo boxes! :) 10/5 The waiters where so nice, and gave us lots of free extra food and a cake for a birthday free! :) 20/5 (even offered photos!) And the whole place was magically decorated!! It felt like being in a Greek town with the windows, plants, and roofs! There are lots of seats, some inside some outside! 15/10 Would come again!! Super cheap, yet high quality for 2 meals in one. :) New favourite restaurant. Vegetarian options: They had plenty of vegetation options marked by a green leafs:) Parking: Just downtown, you could even park at the London drugs and walk up if you wanted. Kid-friendliness: They had chicken strips, along with other classics incase you have a little picky eater :)

Smells like moldy mildewy carpet and armpit body odor. Is that normal or just how Greek food is naturally pungent? They overpowered my senses and got a headache. The little pizza shop on the corner was excellent instead. Plus you can get a percentage off for pick up. Will return again. Thank you FreshSlice

Foods always good, but when my pickup order was supposed to be ready at a certain time and we had to wait an additional 45 minutes, thats a bit extreme. I understand restaurants being busy, but staff should be taking that into account when giving times out. Not fun to wait with a hungry toddler. They did however give us a $25 off card for next time.

Our server, Tammy, was professional, but not stiff. Bar service quick, food a little slower, but very good, generous portions. I wish they had chicken livers, but I suspect they would be slow sellers Food

Food was okay, the service I received could have been better, it was rather slow even though it wasnt busy, and the server only brought my drinks and bill, EVERYTHING else was done by other staff. More attention to the job would go a long way to making the experience better. Had the chicken Parmigiano which was okay but not really outstanding.

Service okay but disjointed. Several different servers not talking to each other. Portions huge, food would have been a 4.5, but potato lacklustre and rice inedible- mushy and tasteless. The rice really detracted from an otherwise great plate. Meats and salad very, very good. At first glance, the inside is very nice with the open concept upstairs. But, like almost every resto in Kamloops, there is zero atmosphere. A few pictures and a splash of blue would improve it dramatically. In a Greek resto, we want Greek music, not tinny top 40 music. Honestly almost ruined the overall experience. Excellent meats and seafood were the saviours.

The roasted lamb shoulder was horrible. Tough as can be and tasted like mustard? Lamb shoulder should be slow roasted for hours in herbs and come out buttery soft. Not sure why mustard was used so heavily? Most definitely would not order this dish again

They were super busy and short staffed but still made room for us and made our wait for food seem quick. Food was fresh, flavourful and delicious. Our waitresses were friendly and professional. Cant wait to go back for more yummy greek food!

The food itself was delicious, and VERY generous servings. I had the steak and spaghetti and it was all cooked perfectly. However, while the older waitress that served us was kind and friendly, all the other staff there seemed to stare at us a lot, and they all stood around pretty close to our table the entire time we were there. They kept pacing back and forth past our table, I felt like we were out of place and being judged. So great food, kind of weird vibe though.

Fantastic food, heaping portions, very reasonable prices, great atmosphere, excellent service. Despite being short-staffed, we didnt wait long for our food. I get the calamari dinner almost every time & its been cooked perfectly every time, plus they make their tzatziki in-house & its phenomenal! Couldnt recommend the place more, its one of my fave restaurants in town Parking: City parking lot (that almost always has free spots) right across the street.

This restaurant has a very cozy interior and atmosphere. We were a party of 7, and have ordered all sorts of meals, Truly, they were extremely well prepared and yummy, and the size... OMG! We will get to enjoy our fabulous meals the next day! Angie, our server, was very lovely, attentive, and professional. We have absolutely nothing bad to say, actually everything was exceeding our expectations. We strongly recommend this place for an absolutelyall 9 positive experience.

One of my favourite restaurants in Kamloops, I have never had a bad meal here. If you like Greek cuisine this is the place to go. All the dishes are good the potatoes are the best I have ever had. The service is also always good, no complaints. Parking: Lots of parking on the street or in some public lots. Parking is free in Kamloops after 600 pm

Really delicious food. Excellent ambiance for a date night Ideally would be best to be on the first floor, as the seats look more comfortable. Update- Had a bit of a bad experience trying to order take out over the phone. Update 2024 - Honestly, its better to go, the service went above and beyond on Valentines Day. New recommendation - Tsantali wine.

We had a retirement supper recently at Dorians. The service was excellent, the food was excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant, all eight of us were very pleased with our choices. With shortage of workers nothing, but the best here!!!!

Dorian serves up some really yummy food. Ive been here a few times and its been good every time. The roast lamb platter was really delicious, as was the chicken souvlaki and calamari! The folks here are always friendly and service is really good despite their shortage of staff.

I wouldn t recommend this restaurant. They say they are open till 830. We arrived at 8pm with 4 people. The waitress told us they are not taking any more orders because they are not busy .. you d think they d want customers. If they close the kitchen early then they should change their hours.

At a time when most restaurants are cutting back in quantity of product one receives while increasing their prices at the same time, we can honestly say Dorian is the exception! We thoroughly enjoyed the Greek Platter between the two of us and WOW! There was so much food, we have at least the same amount, if not more, to enjoy again tomorrow night. The helpings are extremely generous and delicious as well. I m addition to the amazing food, service was excellent and I must say, the waitresses work exceptionally hard having to go up to the second floor to continually serve the many tables upstairs, and with a smile! Good job Dorian!

First time experience and it was well worth it. Nice atmosphere I would ask to sit up top next time. Food was delicious succulent well presented and very generous portions. As much as I wanted an appetizer the owner said there would be than enough with the main course. She was right. I had the lamb fall off the bone good. Tzatziki sauce had a nice little zing to it. Loved the traditional Greek salad. I finished mine rest of the party took home leftovers. Thanked the Chef and staff for an excellent job. Topped it off with a Raki

We recently visited the Dorian Greek restaurant in Kamloops for the first time. It was very disappointing. Our blonde server was super unfriendly and blunt, probably not the right job for her to be doing. No one checked on us to see how our food was and the restaurant was not busy. The Greek salad had ridiculously huge chunks of tomatoes, like a quarter of a tomato. The produce tasted off and soggy.. definitely not fresh and crisp. The skin of the potatoes were inedible and hard but the potatoes themselves had a nice flavour. The tzatziki was good and had a nice kick to it. Ribs had hardly any meat on them and were very dry. We will not be recommending or visiting again. Shocked how they have almost 5 stars on here

Really enjoyed our dinner at Dorian Greek House, wide selection of Greek offerrings. When we were seated we were warned that service would be slow because the resturant was short staffed. That turned out to be true but didnt distract from the excellent meals served.

I don t understand the hype. Chicken souvlaki was extremely dry, rice had no flavour, calamari is over battered and extremely greasy. Their fake plant in the back corner of the second level by the bathrooms we were sat beside and the shelf and plant itself were covered in dust. Portion size is great but could work on the actual production and taste of the food. Ended up bringing the souvlaki home for my dogs, save the money and eat at OPA

Another fabulous meal at The Dorian Greek House. As always a special thankyou to Angie, her attention to our guests needs, in a time of constant staff shortages, is remarkable. We ordered the Greek Platter, everything was cooked to perfection, the Calamari was perfect as was everything else, and who cooks better ribs?? 5 stars for portion sizes but 2 for most of the food. Had mediocre moussaka (the Béchamel sauce was like rubber), and the tomato sauce tasted like something put on pizza. The chicken/Kalamari combo was huge, but the chicken was very dry and oversalted. The kalamari was quite good but the accompanying tzatziki sauce was a bit too flavourless, except for the dill. The rice was very nice for both dishes, but the roast potato fairly bland and unnecessary. The salad was good except the cucumbers tasted a bit like fish . The server and other staff were very friendly and efficient. The other issues I was not impressed with was the actual lack of Greek atmosphere: like the colour scheme and lack of anything Greek on the walls and the uninspiring furniture could have been in any restaurant. The other thing that would have been nice is music that is more appropriate, unlike the frantic noise that is more in keeping with bars. A bit disappointing really. The value here is in the portions. Don t order an appetizer also unless you want to have enough leftover to take home.

Bad customer service, cut the line on me a few times and then when they pick up the phone just says were not accepting orders and cuts the line thats not how to tell a potential customer that you cant serve them.

There was a sign saying please be patient as we are understaffed and the staff are working hard to serve everyone. We didnt find that an issue at all. The staff was fast and friendly and we had excellent service.

My chicken smothered with dill sauce and mushrooms with sides of potatoes, vegetables with feta cheese, and pita bread with a small cup of tzatziki sauce was mouth-watering. The portion was huge so I had to bring the rest of it home. I haven t eaten at a Greek restaurant for a long time, so this was a welcoming and overdue change.

Thank you Lizzy and staff for making my birthday dinner so amazing. The birthday decorations were a nice touch. I really enjoyed the prawns and calamari, they were so delicious! My friends also enjoyed their meals.

Last few times I have been there, including last weekend when I had made reservations for 3 and when I arrived they looked lost and they sat us upstairs, where they essentially forgot about us, they made us sit for over an hour while tables of people who arrived AFTER us had their full meals and we had still not even received our appetizer yet!! This place has been VERY disappointing lately, very hard for me to recommend.

We had the restaurant for a private event with a set menu selection. Honestly, I usually would not have ordered any of the options we had to chose from. They were short staffed but they did a great job considering. Food : 4/5

Stopped here for dinner. The atmosphere is cute, and the food is very good. I accidentally ordered the Spanakopita dinner instead of the appetizer. It was huge and way too much food for one person. Our server Claire was excellent! I would return and just order less.

We went as a spur of the moment dinner stop and sat outside. Amazing service and outstanding food. Forgot how good this food is. Highly recommend stoping by. Amazing food for a great price and fantastic service. It s just as good the next day. Great place to eat.

We love Greek food and eat it often. The Greek salad was not fresh at all. The tomatoes and cucumbers were mushy. The platter at $72 dollars was all deep fried, including the ribs to the potatoes. The Greek food you get at a mall is fresher and better prepared. The owners clearly don t have a hold on the kitchen and what s coming out of it. The chicken was dry too, like jerky. If you have to go here, avoid the platter. My 7 year year old did enjoy his pasta and the lasagna looked okay, although very basic and lacking in ingredients.

Always great food and service at Dorians! Ive eaten here many times and ordered take out on multiple occasions and am always happy with the quality and freshness of their food. I placed a big order for pick up this past weekend and everything was hot, delicious and everyone was so helpful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic food! The quantity is unreal. We left with full stomachs and enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The staff was accommodating, friendly and efficient.

The wife and I love coming here. Its a cute little restaurant with the atmosphere you would expect for a more expensive restaurant. Im a bigger guy and the portions hit a home run. Good meat with a healthy portion of rice and potatoes. The service can be a little lacking at times. Favorite place to eat in Kamloops with the wife and family.

Fantastic food and polite servers even though they are short-staffed and busy. The food portions were large, we tohome doggy bags. Also when you come in sit on the top floor, the atmosphere is really lovely. Its like a balcony design with plants and nice light while downstairs is a bit cold feeling. Definetly go visit.

Between having been put on hold for over three minutes on a Monday night, having to continually press zero to get my line picked up, placing my order and THEN being told that if I wanted delivery I had to actually call their delivery driver....... I will never again again give Dorians any of my money. BADLY PLAYED DORIANS. BADLY PLAYED.

Have done delivery dinners from this restaurant several times, each time the experience was very painful. Phones not answered, hung up on, calls not returned, but the food is good so persevered through the pain for the first orders. This last attempt, became the last, life is way to short to deal this much hassle ....

Kamloops has had Greek heritage for over a century from those who came and worked the trains. The best remnants are the food and culture left behind. This restaurant location is a historic remnant of the best Greek food and hospitality traditions. Someone cared to share the details here and it shows. There isnt a bad dish on the menu. The service is always impeccable. In a bigger city the meals would be priced 30% more. If youre a local, you already know how amazing this place is. If youre passing through Kamloops, as most do, you need to experience the food and ambience of Dorian restaurant. The food is amazing, historic, and among the best Kamloops and BC have to offer.

While traveling through Kamloops we were downtown checking out the scene and had dinner here, WOW! Great food/lots of it and price was more then reasonable. Highly recommend trying this restaurant .not enough stars to rate this restaurant try the lamb

Went here last night with my husband and nine friends. Our experience was nothing short of AMAZING. Although short staffed and very busy, Angie our server was funny, accommodating snd efficient. Food was delicious. Definitely will return. Thank-you Angie you made our evening.

There was a shortage of staff and the workers were getting slammed with diners and orders, this was good though as at the door they had a sign letting us know there would be a wait time for food managing our expectations. We ordered the Greek platter with extra kalamari and extra roast lamb plate. The Greek platter was a platter that could feed 2-3 people with the kalamari being lightly battered and tasting of buttery kalamari, not squishy or overcooked. The short ribs were yummy and the potatoes were just right. The Greek salad had so much flavour. So much flavour with simple ingredients, the chunks of tomatoes and cucumber were rocking. They were actual chunks (which is how I love my salad as I hate the small cut up pieces sometimes you find at other restaurants BUT I do love my chunky home made soups). We were only in town for the weekend but this place was amazing for food, I will definitely go back. We devoured our food and forgot to take pictures, sorry! We more than enough for left overs the following day.

Long waits, impersonal and no heat! Made reservations for our anniversary. For starters, they wanted to stick us in the back small table. Ordered appys and then we waited an hour for our entree. In the meantime, they brought us someone elses food who arrived after us. When we asked about our food, she told us a totally different meal and it was going to be 5 minutes but got the meals wrong still after correcting her. She brought us a bowl for our roast lamb which we thought was odd. Roast arrived and full of bones and lamb smeared in some mustard sauce. People came and went before our meals arrived. To make matters worse, there was no heat. Everyone had to eat with their coats on. Some with hats, some pulled there sweater/coat hoods over their head. I dont think paid their bills and are struggling to stay open. In the end, they comped one meal which was nice but we will not be back.

Had dinner here a few nights ago to celebrate a birthday. Table of 5 and got seated right away (it was about 5pm). We got seated near the door and it was really chilly. Service was great, all of our food came out quickly, and food was excellent. Food is pricy but the portion sizes are HUGE. I had enough for an entire meal the following day! The tzatziki is amazing - garlicky and so yummy. ss

Fantastic price-value. Generous portions of very tasty meals. The hummus however is way too garlicky, like tzatziki. It should have no garlic at all. They should play Greek music though instead of whatever is on now. Ambience needs a boost. Only the morbidly obese will still be hungry after dinner here.

The plates here are like towers of pure decadence; everything was delicious and the portions were massive. I really enjoyed the calamari and the shrimps.
