I don't understand why, I like this😍😍😍😍😍😍 but the sushi here is very delicious and fresh
I’ve been going here for years and have always loved it. I’m a student and usually tip 15% but sometimes can’t afford to, today I didn’t tip on a $25 dollar lunch, the server who I’ve seen working several times stopped me after I had paid and said ‘you come here all the time and never tip me, is there something wrong with my service or is the food bad?’. She seemed obviously unhappy at my initial entrance and was somewhat short (but that’s just an opinion, subjective). I tip when I can, the service is average, but as a regular I now feel so uncomfortable at the thought of returning, the 2 other people I was with also felt put on the spot. There was no other customers in the restaurant which I think is why this conversation happened. Not sure if we’ll be heading back.
Me and my friends we come here very often and we don’t always have the funds as students to be leaving a tip every time we but when we do we will. And this lady server as we were paying says “why don’t you ever leave a tip, is there a problem” and she said it in a very hostile way!! I am a server and I have people that never tip me. Tipping is not a mandatory!!!! She has rarely asked us if everything is okay. Very disappointed in this kind of service.
SAVE YOUR SELF THE TROUBLE, GO TO NARA SUSHI So I came here with 6 adults and a child, we do all you can eat sushi once a month as a family outing, so we are professionals. As soon as we gave the girl our paper she immediately said “no this is to much” and we assured her we do this regularly and know what we are doing. The lady making our sushi wouldn’t stop staring and speaking in her language getting mad, she made out dinner VERY uncomfortable. Like why are you giving us dirty looks? I couldn’t believe it. The sushi wasn’t anything special, I do not recommend getting their deep fried rolls as they were absolutely disgusting, like no one thought they were remotely edible, we were feeling so sick just looking at them and unfortunately had to eat 3 rolls of it between us. The prawn tempura was decent. That was about it lol I just can’t get over that rude lady getting mad and angry and staring, she shouldn’t be working anywhere near people … I won’t ever be back, Nara sushi is way friendlier. Better pricing, better food and way better service. It’s unfortunate as we like to support all of the business but this is a business that I just don’t care about being around, it’s terrible all around.
I've been going to this place for 10 years at least. And the last 3 times have been disgustingly disappointing. They must have changed owners or somthing. This was the last draw though. I swear all our chicken portions of our meals were pork. Like no kidding.i even called them out for it. There's NO WAY it was chicken ! Besides valley sushi in valley view this was the best place in kamloops. It's second from last now. I'll never go there again !! The service was crap, the food was pathetic and they are definitely lieing about thier meat !
Walking into the restaurant I was surprised that no one else was in it. It was 3:30 pm and it was dinner pricing of $25.95 or $33.95 if you wanted to add 4 pieces of Sushimi. The server showed she was not happy that I didn’t order the Sushimi. I placed my order for sushi, she seemed quite upset that didn’t order appetisers.
First time here, nice clean ambiance, 👍good portion of food and is good, you can do the all u can eat or not, fast service 🙏🏻 friendly staff, thanks n keep it up. Would recommend visiting and trying it out.
Overall would rate the food at 4/5 in freshness and taste. Tuna was not as fresh as it could be in my opinion.Spring rolls were very good.
This is the worst sushi I ever tried in my life. I almost threw up eating this thing. It s too expensive for it is
Food here is very low quality. Doesn t taste good and sushi rolls just fall apart. Would not recommend.
Oya roll is one of the tastiest things on the menu, combining that with all you can eat is just asking for trouble
Absolutely amazing food! Great serving sizes, fresh as you can get, perfect service. Highly recommend this place. Would definitely eat again. Thankyou for having us.
Best sushi I ve ever had
The all you can eat menu is a great deal . Decent quality sushi for an all you can eat. I frequent this place for lunches. Cant beat the price
I understand that I ordered my to-go near the closing time (7:33pm), but you could just refuse the order if its really way too busy. The teriyaki chicken only has three coin sized pieces chicken immersed in the vegetables. Tempura was just soggy. (Not sure if its because the cook stressed out, for I overheard someone repetitively yelling in Mandarin: hurry up with the fried prawns.) Otherwise, the paper menu I got seems not an updated one. I saw $12.95 for bento no.5 and $8.95 for sockeye salmon sashimi. However, I eventually paid $13.95 and $9.95. It matches with the online price though. Overall, just not a good experience with the food. Personally, I wouldnt want to order again or recommend to someone.
My new favorite restaurant!
Very fresh sushi, creative menu, friendly staff. Best restaurant weve eaten at in Sun Peaks. Great little gem. They do take out too if you cant get a table. Highly recommend.
Amazing food at unbelievable pricing, our family drove down from sun peaks and had our lunch here, everything on the all you can eat menu tastes good
Really enjoyed the sushi and all you can eat. Service was fast and friedly. Oya Rock roll was great.
All u can eat sushi!!!!
The quality is ok but the level has dropped from the previous owners. The previous owners ran it seem to be a bit more fresh on the food. Parking: Very tight and often have to park further away.
Not a fun or special birthday dinner this year. Disappointed in the service and food.
The food was okay - some quite good. (The gyoza being a standout), some mediocre. The price was fair. The ayce menu is very small, and the options plain. The service is extremely poor - slow and unhappy. This seems to be a family restaurant and the teenage daughter is clearly miserable here. It makes for a bad experience for all involved.
Good sushi in Sun Peaks?! Absolutely the best! The food was outstanding and service was excellent despite getting vey busy. All plates we had were delicious. Highly recommend!
I went to the Oya Sushi in Kamloops. The service was poor. It appears to be a family-run business where they force their teenage daughter to work. She was clearly unhappy to be there. (To the owners: Please dont give her a hard time, it was your fault for putting her in that position. As an employer, its your responsibility to employ someone who wants to be there or who at least has some better customer service skills). The food quality was so-so and was inconsistent. The first time we ordered the beef teriyaki rolls, it had a good amount of beef-to-rice ratio. The second time we ordered it, the amount of beef was cut in half and had mostly rice. The AYCE options wasnt that big. The gyoza was really good though. They have a 2-tier ($8 difference) ayce option, Dinner A and Dinner B. The only difference is that Dinner A has access to salmon and tuna sashimi.
Phone in take out order Service was ok, sushi taste and texture was good. Specifically said No Cucumbers in ALL rolls. Server responded with Ok No Cucumbers on ALL rolls Got our order and went back to our hotel room. Cucumbers galore. So frustrated as it s late and we re far away so we re not going to go back to get it replaced. Dietary restrictions: DOUBLE CHECK WHEN ORDERING THAT YOUR DIETARY NEEDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE EATING.
The food was 5/10, service 5/10, value for money 5/10. But what got me was the cleanliness. Walls covered in spilled soy sauce and dirt from years and years of not being cleaned. Bathroom equally disgusting. Told the waitress i Would not be eating there again, showed her the gross wall and she did not seem to care. Will never go there again. Rolls were 80% rice, dry, and hard to get down. Blech
Ordered the Deluxe Assorted Combo for a stop on the road trip. VERY tasty. All of it. Rice in the sushi was spot on. Was made by an experienced chef. Will go back again on the way back. Great value for the price. Good portions for two.
Ive been here twice and both times enjoyed the sushi. I liked the quick service.
The absolute worst sushi Ive ever had, the fish was not fresh at all, and the menu descriptions on skip the dishes were terrible. Will never go back and would not recommend to anyone.
Love the all-you-can-eat menu. Delicious sushi, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere
I love this place and have for the past 6 years. The food is so good I usually get the spicy yam rolls, veggie sunomono soup and the miso soup on the side. Needless to say the food always turns out great and I ve never had a bad experience with the food.
As always the food is excellent
It seems to be all you can eat rice ;) No flavour due to the thick layer of rice around the rolls. Unfortunately Far better quality at all other Sushi restaurants in Kamloops. Food : 2/5
Great service and good prices
Good food, had to wait a fair bit though. All you can eat style but you have to order a few times. Just try it, good experience.
Great food great service great price all you can eat choice great location
Food decent but they have some rude behavior and i saw how they treated thier delivery driver was nasty
Taka Box A was sooooo perfectly delicious. Great blend of flavors.
Scolded us for ordring to muchbut i was with my child and didnt eat 2 rolls and we did like the teast of a roll and we told them and arguerd with us and scolded us
We eat here every other week. Great sushi and good service
Bad food Had bento box and the chicken was burnt in chicken teriyaki. The fish was not fresh. Had stomach ache after eating the food. Service was equally bad. When i said the chicken was bad. All she said was OK.
Pretty disappointing. Donburi was mediocre. Chicken Katsu was over cooked. Sushi smelled fishy like the fish was not fresh. They used the wrong firmness of tofu in the agedashi tofu. Will not be back.
The pieces of meat that you get are bigger than anywhere else in town. Their all you can eat is the best.
Vegetarian options: Loved their vegetable bowls
Service and atmosphere are very mediocre. Staff are friendly, but its a very laid back experience. Food is usually pretty consistent. Worth going for the all you can eat lunch special.
Great food! Fast from ordering to table. Be sure to arrive before 715 as that is when they take last orders for all you can eat. Definitely worth coming again!
We 4 adult 2 children one 6 years old and one is almost 2 years old. 3 adult we ordered all you can eat and 1 bento. Server asked us if baby is going to share all you cat with us. We told her she is not even 2 and she ll eat may be little. She just told us we need to pay $ 2 for the baby and she is just so like you pay or leave attitude. Not sure she understand us or not. But her behavior is just not acceptable.
A quality sushi restaurant, and I highly recommend the Oya Rocks roll and mushroom clouds!
It was meh, felt like we were rushed in and out.
Best sushi and prompt friendly service
Always good for All You Can Eat and fair pricing for Kamloops. Clean and relaxed. Always as anticipated.
Great sushi at a reasonable price very friendly people recommend seeing them again
I was there yesterday it was awesome the staff were so nice
2021/June/05 edit: they did a reno and painted in the last year. Sushi is pretty good for the price. 2017: Not that great. The room is dirty and run down. Service is ok but not friendly. Ordered the 2 for 1 bento box special. There was about 5 grams of chicken on the teriyaki. Food is barely ok. Wont be going back.
Rice, Rice, Rice! Very little fish or filings in their rolls. Service was top notch and very friendly. But if youre going for the food try somewhere else.
Always quick and friendly service here. Love the bento lunch box options at this one. Little bit different items from the usual which is nice.
Very delicious
Not a good all u can eat. Yak.
Not for ordering at home. The Sushi is absolutely dry and you can smell the fish. It tastes very weird. I dont know if its the same if I go there and eat. But dont order.
Best Sushi in town!
Too expensive and was just ok.
Good sushi, lunch is best value for all you can eat. Nice service, clean resto.
Appropriate price rate. Try the AllYouCanEat lunch for 14.65 to check if the food fits with your taste. Only Dinner A provides 20pcs Sashimi per person (10 tuna 10 salmon). $1 for 1 year old, 2 for 2 yrs, 3 for 3yrs. 4-7 yrs old is regular kid price. Oven baked salmon is recommended.
Oya Sushi is delicious. Whether you get the AYCA or order off the menu. Really good food here. Not always perfect but darn tasty.
The delivery driver added in her own 15% gratuity after quoting the price without the tip on the phone. I phoned the restaurant to ask about this and the staff told me that they do not automatically add a tip to the total, and that this shouldnt have happened. They also then told me that the delivery driver is the owner. I was not able to speak with the owner as she has poor English, so I wanted others to be warned about this!
Super friendly staff.......... Website is misleading as there is no specified all you can eat menu. The all you can eat menu is extremely limited. I ended up ordering a la carte as none of the items I wanted to try were included in the AYCE menu. I ordered 5 items and spent $72 (tax and 25% gratuity included) and left hungry and underwhelmed overall. The staff was super kind but the menu lacked effort and the quality was average.
The all you can eat deal is affordable if you dont get sashimi (pick Dinner A) and youre a hungry person like me. Their portions are very generous for a sushi place. Weve had both AYCE and take-out now, very satisfied both times. Menu choices covered all the basics - as long as youre not expecting a liquid-nitrogen frozen tempura singing octopus statue for $20, youll enjoy yourself too.
My first All you can eat experience at this restaurant was interesting I can say. It all started with the below misleading note on the wall. See picture. The kids are considered from 4 to 7 yrs only. After 7 yrs old the kids are considered adults. I am not sure if that is even legal. Me and one of my kids/adult(9 yrs old) decided to eat something from the main menu and my wife and my other kid/adult (7.5 yrs old) picked the all you can eat . The bigger surprise came when we started to eat and we started to share like a family do. One restaurant staff came immediately and shouted no, you are not allowed to share the food! I asked why? The answer was: What if someone comes order one all you can eat and shares with 10 people? whaaat? But each of us ordered something from the menu. Did she just accused us of cheating? I immediately lost my appetite. I don t think I will go again to this restaurant after this experience.
All you can eat!!!! My kinda place
Good size fresh food, friendly service.
First time here and although not super impressed with the limited AYCE menu, the quality was so so. The Oya Roll was good as was the tempura. But the fact that they list Ramen on the AYCE menu and charge an extra dollar for it but when it comes,it is literally a bowl of Itchiban noodles. Actual boiled instant noodles with the flavor packet with the freeze dried chives. And yes, I asked if that is what it is and they said yes. So now Ive paid a $1.00 for something I can buy in a store for .35 and make at home yet they claim its authentic Ramen and offer it in a restaurant. At laest try to jazz it up with some veggies in it? To me thats just really bad business practices and Im doubtful I will return.
The noodles aren t salty enough but they taste good. Very good service!
Good sushi overall. The Oya house roll is especially delicious
It was very good. Friendly staff and amazing food. The only thing I didnt enjoy was the Octopus. But everything else was very tasty and the drinks... SO TASTY
Just finished dinner and can really say it was very enjoyable. There were 4 of us for dinner we all had the all you can eat and we got everything we ordered in a fast and efficient way and it was all tasty. We will definitely be back .
Awesome quality. Very quick. Nice staff.
All you can eat is something that I would recommend specially the mashroom cloud really good value for money good food
Fresh ingredients and freshly prepared. One of the best Sushi restaurants in Kamloops!
Nice environment. Nice staff. Delicious food! Best Sushi I have had in Kamloops.
I ordered a roll to go and once I got home and opened the box I was severely disappointed. The presentation of the rolls looked so unappealing and didn t taste great either. I was concerned about getting food poisoning and will not be ordering from their again. Also, very overpriced!
I really enjoy the all you can eat lunch special.
No better place around...cant stop in kamloops without eating here!
Ive been coming here since 2009 regularly and every time ever has been enjoyable. The food is always fresh and tastey. Not to mention the price is VERY reasonable. 8/10 would recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi. (NOTE: THIS REVIEW WAS DONE BEFORE NEW OWNERS, I CANT SPEAK FOR THE NEW OYA)
Great sushi friendly staff and awesome pricing for the all you can eat
Food was amazing! Service was a bit slow, but they were also really busy.
Great dining place with delicious sushi
Great sushi always happy with our stay
Been here many times because I live right across the road. I have mixed opinions but I ll cut them some slack. I ve found bones in the sashimi multiple times I ve visited, and I would tell the lady in charge just to raise concern because bone in fish can be a health hazard. The first time I just let it slid by, but the second time I ordered a lot of sashimi and found so many bones, that I got extra cuts to compensate...but they also had bones. I m a bit icky ordering sashimi from here since then, although they do not skimp out on the fish and the price is fair. The rolls are good, creative, I like them. Soft-shell crab tempura is mostly just tempura and could barely taste the crab, I don t recommend that. The roll with mango and fruits is really nice, and also the sunomono bite is something very unique. The all-you-can-eat could have some more options, but overall it s satisfactory in terms of speed and price. Staffs are alright, could be more trained and professional (maybe start by not speaking out in Chinese about the tip amount after looking at the receipt), but they do try to be friendly. Definitely not the top sushi joint on my list, but luckily not the last.
Awesome sushi and service!
very very good
Really tasty and fresh food. Amazing customer service
Excellent food and service. Prices are really good too.
Oshii tabiru
Excellent!
Great food
All you can eat, I enjoy it.
great service, sushi was good and loved the miso
Always good service and great sushi. All you can eat is tough to beat in town
Good food
Im not a sushi guy at all. If you are this is probably really good sushi. Sushi is a required taste. The service here was really great and the rest of the food was really good. #yyj #
Poor customer service and the food was not good. Bad tasting Japanese food. Will not come back or recommend this place.
Good service, great portion sizes, fresh food!
Theres an extra for sashimi even if youre taking the all you Can eat. Its 7$ but you can only get it once which really sucks. Also be ready to eat alot of rice, portions are mostly rice. Kind of disappointing. This one salmon Nigiri could fill the tea cup.
If you like rice you can come here. That was the most rice Ive ever seen in rolls or nigiri. It should be an all you can eat but there is a limit on the number of sashimi you can order (7$ more to be allowed to order them). Over all disappointed. On the flip side, service was good and fast.
All you can eat rice!!!! Wow I have never, never seen sushi rolls with so much rice. There was well over 1/2 of an inch of rice on all of the rolls. And after we ordered they told us there was an $8 per person extra charge for sashimi and a limit of 2 per person. And I have never been charged $3 per person for kinda warm green tea. And they charged us for a two year old to sit and eat almost nothing. This place has gone down hill big time. We Will never go back again. 0 out of five stars if I could.
If I could give this less than one star I would. Simply trying to communicate off the menu was hard enough. I was very surprised that the sushi was not legally considered as cat food... yet I would still not let my cat eat it! If you want warm juicy live fish then this is your place.
The teriyaki is worst... the beef is burned and bitter
Delicious Japanese food.
Overpriced and poor quality. Presentation was lacking. We went in for the all you can eat but were told if we even left rice on our plates the chef wouldnt be happy ... ended up ordering off the menu and were very disappointed. We should have known when we were the only customers in the entire restaurant at dinner time.
I ve been to Oya Japanese Food many times, and three times since my previous review in the early spring of 2017; lots has changed in that time. There have been numerous updates to the furniture, lighting, flooring and other features. There has been an apparent change in management or ownership, and the general cleanliness and service has improved substantially - the staff are responsive to requests, and rectify what few service concerns there may be promptly and politely. A number of other reviewers mention there is a lot of rice in proportion to the fish or other ingredients in the rolls and nigiri sushi; in my experience, having dined at many different sushi places, Oya s sushi is faring very well and they offer fairly large portions and a good balance between the various ingredients. Given that the food quality, décor, and service has improved greatly, I am giving Oya 5 stars! And, noting that this is not a high end place, but it does offer very prompt, polite service, along with an optional all-you-can-eat menu for both lunch and dinner, with children s pricing as well. In Kamloops, this going be your best bet for a good, reliable sushi, crispy gyoza and tempura, and drinks. Happy dining -old review from ~April 2017 - Usually the sushi here is quite decent, today was a real exception. The rice was falling apart on the nigiri sushi, the Oya rocks rolls were soggy, the servers were unapologetic. And whats worse: the sushi cooks were visibly eating behind the sushi counter which is a HUGE issue for food safety and cross contamination, Hepatitis transfer etc. Brutal!!!
Soo good, the all you can eat is life
The worst Experience ever one could have..! We walked in for lunch Aug 25th 2:30 pm the server was so rude, she didn t want to serve us. I asked for spoon she gave me a big huge soup Spoon. The server Girl Never came back to check on the food she gave. Have been to many sushi place but this seemed to be very very upsetting atmosphere with the server. Won t come back again. Not the customer service I would accept anytime.
I went there for all you can eat. It was delicious and they did not cheap out on the fish where I find royal Tokyo does. Fair and worth
Some of the best sushi Ive ever had. Tempura roll is amazing!!
Good sushi, services was decent as well! Restaurant was a little cold though
I always look forward to the all you can eat menu!
Good food clean counters good service
Service was great but tuna tasted rotten and fish did not taste fresh. Also the only sushi restaurant I have ever been charged for tea..
Great sushi. The best in Kamloops.
Good sushi.
Sushi is at par nothing special. Service is too frequently neglectful and Ive been witness to the owner yelling at people for ordering too much... At all you can eat. That alone is why its two stars
Was here the other day for a late lunch with my friend, food was decent but we were the only ones in there and the service was not great.
Good food. Quick service.Great for lunch.
Very good people. I donot eat sushi but i know the owner and they are very nice people.
Best sushi in town. Get the Yam tempura roll! So good.
Best place Ive come across for sushi in Kamloops so far...
If youre not here for their Oya Rocks I dont know why youre even here.
Medium quality sushi for a great price. Nigiri has too much rice (as usual) the appetizers were delicious
Solid inexpensive sushi. Always predictable. Always good.
Great sushi. Good service.
BEST sushi place in Kamloops by far. I have eaten in many sushi places and keep coming back to Oya. The food is fresh and delicious. If I have to wait a while for my food, I know they are making it fresh. The service is always great and the owner always comes over to say hello. I certainly have never experienced all this negativity written here. Fortunately, there are many sushi places in Kamloops. Hope ppl find the one thats right for them. Oya is MY sushi place of choice in Kamloops.
Oya Rocks rolls are the best sushi in existence. You know that feeling when you really want something but you cant quite figure out what that something is? Its Oya Rocks rolls. Buy them. With your money.
The owner of this restaurant is sooooooooooooooooo rude, the price is too high, the sushi is disgusting.
I really enjoy the freshness of their foods.I would recommend this eatery to everyone
One of the best sushi places Ive been to. Will definitely be going back. You cant go wrong with the all you can eat deal they have.
Service is said to be slow, but I havent been disappointed. Pretty decent considering its usually busy. Food is always great. Really appreciate the servers recommendation to advise us of kids pricing on buffet vs spending on individual agadashi tofu + edamame.
Bad service. Sloppy rolls. It was not busy so there was no excuse for the naglect. PURE DISAPOINTMENT
Love the noodles
The serves was bad, and its pricy ,I had all you can eat sushi in downtown Toronto for the same price. What is the rent difference between Kamloops and downtown Toronto?!!! Im a sushi lover, I had a good sushi at MOMO Sushi in Kelowna, or Sushi GARDEN in Vancouver.just for the record,,Vancouver has the best sushi in Canada.
I am a very quiet and patient person normally, but this owner has lost all my respect and I feel people deserve to know where theyre spending their money. I have eaten here a few times and every single time something happens that just appals me. I have seen the owner turn people away who have come for AYCE because he thinks they are ordering too much. Its AYCE! Dont have an all you can eat restaurant, if you arent going to let people eat as much as they want! And he is so rude about it, he is embarrassing these people in front of other people, I feel so terrible for them. Every time we go in and order, we dont receive everything we ordered and when we ask about it, they say we dont have any food left coming. So we ask to order more, but we just get shoved the bill and thats it. Ive also seen the owner kick people out of the store. Actually kicked them out. I dont even know why, I never noticed them doing anything! This place is just run by a terrible person, so rude and disrespectful. I will never spend money there again. Btw if you want good AYCE sushi, the one downtown is so much better! Good service and they are fast and friendly :)
Been several times with zero complaints. Delicious and money well spent.
Expensive and bad service. Food was bad for the price range. Would not recommend.
I had an hour wait for the Dr. So I went next door to eat. I had my son with me so they sat me with another group of four people which is awkward. Then it took 20 minutes for them to take our card. Then we only received half our order... I asked 3 times if our food was coming... we were totally ignored. .. other tables were being served faster then us, other people got water... we didnt. .. 45 mins we waited watching other parties come and go... all you can eat is a lie... they charged me for it even though I didnt receive our order... had to leave when the hour was up... left hungry :(
Food is so so but expensive. The service is terrible.
Up until last week, I was a regular here. I had takeout at least once per week. Since the new year, they increased their prices without notice. Some rolls have increased $3-$5. Thats ridiculous. There are a couple options in Kamloops for good sushi. The other options will now get my business. The sushi is good, but its not a high end Japanese restaurant...yet it believes it can charge like one.
We had been regular customers for the last year and a half, preferring to do the all you can eat. They have now raised the price to $17.95 for the lunchtime all you can eat and they now charge you 3$ for green tea that used to be free. For the amount of times items are forgotten and Im missing wasabi or other ordered items, 17.95 is completely unacceptable. This time was the last time I have gone there and I will not be partaking in the future.
I have been a regular customer for the last year and a half but refuse to ever go back. Tea, which used to be free, is now $3, plus an extra $3 if you want a fresh teabag so if you have a big group of people you often end up just drinking hot water. All-you-can-eat lunch is now $17.95, up from $15. The food is good but service is TERRIBLE. Ticking off no ginger and lots of wasabi on the card will often result in them bringing a small amount of wasabi (or none at all) and a big pile of ginger. Since we are constantly flagging the servers down (because they forget things or bring the wrong thing) they avoid contact and ignore the table. Would not recommend it.....
I have been a customer of Oya Sushi for quite some time now. I used to go regularly as I love the sushi and have even brought others in with me who were new to sushi and/or the restaurant itself. I have to say that after today I am not sure how often I will return. The restaurant has a very busy lunch hour and the tables are designed for maximum people in a very small space. Today my daughter and I were there and asked for a booth as I am not comfortable eating with strangers elbow to elbow with me and there was a booth open. We were told booths were for ONLY parties of four and we couldnt have one. We opted to sit at the bar as I was not willing to sit with some stranger partaking in my personal conversation with my daughter over lunch. Also, I dont mind sitting at the bar as the owners son is very personable and goes out of his way to make one feel at home. Imagine my surprise and complete annoyance at seeing a party of two men seated at the empty booth not even 10 minutes later. Apparently being men made 2 into 4? Or was it personal? Either way, it is personal now and before I spend another $25 for lunch I will have a look at the other sushi places in town and their prices and service before I recommend Oya to anyone again.
Best all you can eat at lunch. super delicious and affordable
