I am a regular customer here. This time, when I went and had a seat. From far I saw special deal on rolls 50% off . I asked the server about it and she told that I have to post my review on Instagram, Google and Facebook to avail to that offer; so I did. When I went to pay, she told me that it is only on specific roll which I didn t order. I confronted her that she didn t inform me and then she apologized and mentioned that she can t do anything about it. It is wild that restaurants are going so petty about reviews and business that they have to play these kind of tricks. The food is great but I didn t like interaction. High chance that I wont be visiting again.

Yesterday I had a lunch at Taka and left my water bottle there. It was half way empty and had water in it. Within one hour I called them and they told me it was there. I said I d come today to pick it up. I came around 7pm today and got my water bottle but it was open and full of ice tea that was not there before. So, someone used my water bottle between yesterday and today, even though I called them right away and confirmed that I d come back for it. It was a very unpleasant experience for me as I have never expected that from Taka. I often dined in this place but this level of unprofessionalism left a very negative impression on me. Be careful if you leave your stuff here

The retaurant was calm and quiet and service was incredible. We got our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering and it was absoluetley phenomenal! I would defiently recommend this restaurant and I will be returning!

I love this place. Honestly my favorite restaurant in Kamloops. If i was richer Id eat here more often lol (not cus its expensive here, just eating out in general). Also, Patrick is an absolute G. Vegetarian options: They have lots of choices for vegetarian, but why would you want this? Get the fish.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I m definitely coming back. The server was very welcoming, the food was served quickly and was really yummy. It was one of my best restaurant experiences.

Friendly service, great quality food that came super quick! Miso had great flavor, prawn Tempura was super delicate, and also got to try some new things!! Definitely recommend the Asian pops.... they are fun and tasty

The food is decent, but the service is tooooo slow and understaffed. There arent enough servers to adequately cover the number of customers. I received my food 30 minutes after the first dish was served but I had already waited 20 mins for the first food.

This is more of a Japanese Korean restaurant which makes for an interesting menu. But all the things we tried were good.

best bang for your buck. my wife and I ordered assorted sushi rolls and all of them was awesome. Definitely coming back for sure !

I love this sushi place. Sashimi was very fresh and chicken teriyaki was amazing as well.

I didn t think the curry rice I ordered was very tasty, it was a bit sour, but the others were pretty good. There were some toys and bubble gum on the counter, so it s suitable for bringing children.

Very first time in this establishment. My daughter and I were treated really great. The hostess, not sure if she s the owner or not, came and asked if we needed help with the menu or anything explained, as we kept going over the menu. Hands down the best ramen I ve had! The taka bento box was enough for the both of us to share. Reasonably priced. 5/5 & 10/10 for the California rolls (my very fussy 11 year old s vote)

Love! Love! Love! Great quality & care in making food! Ive tried 3 other Japanese places in Kamloops but always come back. Ive been a customer for almost 10 years and no matter where I live (okanagan, coast or interior) when Im craving Japanese and in Kamloops, this is my go to place! Fast pick up for take out, great service dining in. Excellent customer service! Excellent food taste & quality! Highly recommend!

We were a group of guests. Even on short notice, they were professional and the food was perfect. The servers are friendly and the owner is especially nice. We had udon, tonkatsu, sundubu stew, and tempura. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend going back. Lots of seats, so comfortable!

Menu had a large selection of Japanese dishes not limited to sushi. Service was especially quick and friendly recommending specific menu items for different experiences. Would have liked to see more variety in specialties unique to the restaurant itself. Ingredients were of high quality and extremely fresh. Ill be back.

We had a most enjoyable Birthday luncheon today..Excellent. friendly and efficient service..The food was fresh, hot and delicious..., to top it off, was surprised with a most unexpected delectable Sashimi platter....Five stars for the Taka Japanese Restaurant.....!!!!

I had a mild food poisoning after visiting this sushi place. Black (Tar) Colored Stools And Diarrhea was no good.

FOOD POISONING ALERT! After reading some of the reviews, I guess I wasnt the only one who got sick with black stools after eating here. My recent experience at this restaurant was horrible, be careful with their raw sashimi.

Love this sushi when I come to Kamloops! The staff is so friendly and prompt with the orders. They sushi is delicious, fresh, tasty, and the miso soup is refreshing too. Vegetarian options: Their avocado rolls are my fave! Theyr fresh, the avocado isnt brown and falling apart. Delicious fresh sushi! I recommend this place if your in Kamloops.

Great tasting food at decent prices, plus friendly and attentive service. Portions are good too, you d probably get away with ordering one set of food for yourself unless you re absolutely starving. The three of us ordered 4 dishes and almost couldn t finish without stuffing ourselves. Enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the aburi shrimp sushi, spider roll and the beef ramen. Ramen broth is silky and smooth, while full of flavour (similar to ox bone soup from a Korean restaurant). Not too salty or full of MSG, so not overly thirsty after. Aburi shrimp is buttery and Smokey, and melts in your mouth. Spider roll has deep fried crab that s crunchy and not overly oily. Also ordered chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki (not pictured). Tender and nicely marinated. Comes with bowl of rice and miso soup. Will definitely visit again when I visit Kamloops in the future.

Great lunch spot located near Save on Foods. There are plenty of fresh sushi options as well soups and other hot Japanese dishes. Its good for both small and large groups. The service was quick and friendly. There is lots of free parking in the shopping center parking lot.

Worst sushi I ve had in a long time. Miso soup taste like water, soggy tempera, food had no flavour and delivery took over 40 minutes.

Ive eaten here before but I believe this one of the better sushi restaurants in Kamloops. Prices are reasonable and food is very good. Well worth a quick stop or a dinner or lunch. Tried. I dont think youll be disappointed.

Our first trip to Taka but not our last! Wow! We ordered 10 sushi rolls for takeout on a Friday evening. In only 30 minutes they were ready for pickup. Several people also came in to pick up their orders too as well as Skip drivers; busy place which is a great sign. Very friendly service and they had kindly labelled each roll on the box for us. The rolls we ordered were: Popeye, Volcano, Spicy tuna, Torch boy, Hot Lava, Spark, Avocado, Dynamite(huge!!), Chopped scallop, and the Salmon Oshi. Everything was beyond delicious and beautifully presented, so fresh tasting, sprinkles of green onion, toasted panko and sesame seeds, drizzles of amazing sauces, lots of wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. So much flavour. And I can tell you that the rolls were double the size and way tastier than all the other sushi places we ve eaten at in Kamloops and we ve been to every single one. I guess we saved the best for last!! Looking forward to all our leftovers for lunch today, many future orders and recommending to all.

This place is great. The staff a friendly and the food is incredible, some of the best I have ever had.

Decided mediocre seafood ramen. Service was good. The restaurant is clean. The food arrived on time. The flavor was lacking.

Stopped by for lunch. Last visit here was during the fires around Kamloops last year. Glad the city was not enveloped in a Smokey haze like last time. Service was on point. Meals were priced well and very tasty. I think new owners are Korean as there were a few Korean dishes added to the Japanese fare. Knew the original owner, Taka from years ago. Glad the quality was kept up.

Stopped by for lunch today. Salmon oshi had too much mayo and too much rice. It will definitely fill you up though with 8 large pieces! Service was good and good came out fast. Lunch boxes were good, loved the crunchy and fluffy tempura!

From a visitor just passing through the city, this is very tasty sushi. Probably the best yam roll we ve had and we always get yam rolls. Looks nice tastes great.

Passed by Kamloops late lunch time and ordered take out bento boxes for 5. They offered 10% off on take out, generous portions and delicious! Will come again next time for sure ^^

Had heard good things about this place from a friend. Wow did it meet the expectations they set. With a large menu of Japanese dishes, you can easily find something on the menu for everyone. We will definitely be back. Vegetarian options: Lots of options Parking: Lots available but you may need to walk a bit if its busy at the plaza Kid-friendliness: Nothing spectacular and they will need to eat Japanese food.

It was really good and filling and so many options. You need to go back to keep trying more options!

This used to be my go to restaurant in Kamloops when I was in town. Since the restaurant was taken over by new owners the food has become sub par. I gave it 2 different tries...ordering different items. I wont be going back.

Updated review from prior: We used to stop by Taka every time we drive through Kamloops from Alberta to Vancouver. The last few times we intentionally visit as we loved the sushi here - fresh, priced reasonably, on par with sushi from Vancouver. This past week we stopped by and immediately I felt like the owners may have changed. Wasn t sure whether this was the case but everything was way off from our prior experiences. The chicken karaage was burnt (black) when it came out; the fish was not fresh on our nigiri. Ordered two omakase and received different sushi felt like we got leftovers. Likely will not return in the future. What was meant to be a pit stop from an Alberta to Vancouver drive ended up in the discovery of a fantastic new Japanese restaurant. Ordered omakase nigiri and salmon oshi, both were up to par and comparable to excellent quality Vancouver sushi (without the high price tag). Although there was a pick up discount during COVID season, I would definitely return if ever in the area again. Fish were fresh and flavour was delicious. Only critique would be if the sushi rice had a bit more vinegar/was a bit chewier. Otherwise it wouldn t have been far off from Miku. Would highly recommend a try. (No photos because we devoured the food before thinking of taking a picture )

On August 11th I visited. That day was my birthday. The server found out the gifts on the table and asked about it. Then sushi chef made me an assorted sashimi as a birthday present. L It was so beautiful. I was surprised that they offer something on the house because of the birthday. Overall, their foods are so fresh and tasty with a reasonable price. Their server is also very caring. This is definitely the best sushi restaurant in kamloops.

Clean and neat.. Took torched boy roll. 4/5. Unagi special roll...2/5 really weird sauce on top and just bunch of plain rice. If i wanted donburi unagi i would order it for much less. The low point was spicy seafood unag.2/5 ZERO flavor and we had to look for that seafood with a magnifying glass. I had better unagi from a package. Service was fast and staff very pleasant so it was not a complete disaster

best sushi i ve ever had in kamloops, hands down. great service every time and every single meal i ve had here had been of the finest quality. props to the chef, it takes a real 10/10 experience for me to leave a review but this restaurant surpassed my expectations.

Called in for takeout and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes. When I arrived it was ready to go and was great. Their rainbow roll is the best in town

My new favourite Sushi place in Kamloops! I kept giving Arigato chances but their quality has seriously dropped off! Taka had excellent service, great tasting sushi & my Gomae was the biggest I have ever seen!

Fresh and tasty!

The food was a well proportion for the cost. The tast of the food was unique and palatable. The service was prompt for the rush of people and for the amount of time I have been there I have never been disappointed. On that said there was a mistake on my order which was fixed at no cost to me. It is a must go to enjoy.

My family loves Taka. The sushi here is classic and very professionally made, so even if you fumble with chopsticks, your sushi holds perfectly together. My favorite is the sashimi and the beef udon though. The sashimi is fat slabs of very juicy fresh fish, and the udon has a unmistakable classic broth that really makes the noodles dance, and will have you back again and again.

Japanese with a slight fusion twist, not to my taste. I prefer more traditional Japanese (westernized).

Good food thought the Korean dishes are better than the Sushi here. The prices are a little on the high side when compared to a lot of competitors, but providing you are goijg for the Korean food minus BBQ it is one of the best in town.

Visited TAKA during lunch time. Had TAKA Special box A. The box was well presented and very delicious. Sesame salad dressing is the best in town Highly recommended!

I think new owners know how to make delicious sushi. This could be the best place in town (my opinion). You guys should try cream cheese salmon and Box A. They are amazing

Would be 3.5 stars but they don t do half s. Good but not great. Waitress was nice and friendly and quick. Decor is worn and dated but seems clean. Bathrooms are clean enough. Dinner Boxes are fair sizes. Sunomono was very vinegary/salty. Some Tempura pieces were way to big to handle with chopsticks but the taste was good. California rolls were good. Forget the wifi it s sooooo slow but that s not why you go to a restaurant hahaha The sushi levels are so high these days that this would normally be 4 but it s a tough market and others offer more.

I have been to many times here, The food is really good. I ve been to both of Korea and japan. Have to say that the food here like the local tranditional Korean and Japanese restaurants. Personally, This is the best Korean restaurant in Canada I ve been to.BTW The price is not too high,and the environment here is pretty good.

Bento Box B - Atlantic Salmon Food here was amazing! Serving sizes are generous and the small restaurant felt very cozy. There usually isnt a long wait and waiters speak English and Japanese.
