Coconut Restaurant is hands down the best Indian spot in Kamloops! The food is flavorful and authentic, with every dish cooked to perfection. Anjali, was outstanding attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. Amazing food and stellar service make this place a must-visit.

Best Indian food and dosas in town! Anjali is an amazing server. We tried her favourite paneer dosa and it was so delicious! Looking forward to being back soon.

Ordered take out a couple nights ago and pretty disappointed with portion sizes. You pay $20 or more for a dish and only had 4 pieces of meat. The rest was just sauce. Not worth it.

I love this little place. I wish I could put it in my pocket and take it home. This is the best Indian food I have tasted. I have gone to other Indian restaurants in edmonton, on the island and other places. The spicing was wonderful and flavorful, the blending amazing. The textures were profound and things cooked just right. The portions were also very generous. My mouth was very happy. Our server was very polite and willing to help us in navigating what we wanted. I loved the home made dosa. The atmosphere was very quiet and comfortable. My husband and I both had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place

realy good in food but service is very slow

Ive eaten at many Indian restaurants in the past, but this is by far the worst establishment Ive been to. Food does not taste authentic. Very limited menu and no description of the dishes. Service was slow and samosas were greasy and deep fat fried. No taste whatsoever. My local Indian in the UK smashes this place out the water. If you want a nice Indian meal dont visit here.

I recently dined at The coconut restaurant , and it was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening . We started with the samoosa and chicken 65, which was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. For the main course, we opted for the paratha and beef coconut pepper and it exceeded my expectations cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The guy who serviced us was attentive without being intrusive, making us feel well taken care of throughout our meal and knowledgeable about the menu.We wrapped up with Ada Pradhaman a sweet finale that was simply divine. Overall, The coconut restaurant delivers exceptional food, great service, and a charming atmosphere. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience. Cant wait to return!

First thing to keep in mind here is a lot of homeless around this place.. place is neat , Vada, coffee and dosa were decently good but the tea and idli were something really poor in taste. Staff is polite. Dont recommend Food : 2/5

Our recent dinner at the restaurant was exceptional, providing not only a delightful culinary experience but also an opportunity for meaningful family bonding. The atmosphere and service contributed greatly to our enjoyment, making it a memorable occasion.

We left feeling both happy and full. The food is spectacular and rich with flavour and spices. We got some veg pakoras, the Coconut Special Dosa, garlic naan, and Mappas, with a dessert to top it all off. The service was great and we would go back again!

So it is Aug 28th. I am out with my partner to celebrate my 27 years clean/sober. I am a HUGE fan of Indian food and I WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED. We were told too try The Coconut as they were a tasty place. My Partner ordered Salmon Caferal and I ordered Lamb Vindaloo. I have a high spice/heat tolerance...I ordered my food Indian spice heat. OMG best damn vindaloo I had...some cucumber raita with it, and even more tasty. Then after dinner we ordered 2 deserts...we ordered. Ada Pradhaman and Gulab Jamun cheese cake...piece of advice too everyone.. .combine those.deserts.for an unbelievable explosion of flavor in your mouth. Definately coming back

How food took extremely long to come but once it did. Oh my God. Every minute was worth the wait. Freshly cooked food with authentic South flavours. Manisha our waitress was incredible, she ran up and down serving 6 tables at a time. She is a great asset to the restaurant. Great place, will definitely come back here again.

The Coconut has the best South and North flavours in all of Kamloops. We ordered the butter chicken with garkic naan. The food didnt take too long to arrive and was delicious. The server was very friendly and checked on us a couple of times during the meal. The restaurant is a nice quiet location and while never too crowded, patrons that know this place will come back again and again.

The best Butter Chicken Dosa we ve had. Chicken Masala Tikka was fabulous too. Service was friendly but they may have been slightly understaffed during our visit. Atmosphere was meh and the music could have been a bit quieter. Overall, a great experience. Would definitely recommend.

I was there on 7th July 2024 around 1-3pm and I was SO frustrated that I had to wait ONE COMPLETE HOUR to get food and the waiter there wasn t even updating us regarding the waiting time.

Great South Indian food. Dosa along with the chutneys and sambar was delicious. Especially the Kerala cuisines like Kerala Parotta, Avial and Ada Prathaman were unbelievable and so authentic. Anjali was great at the service while Rajeev and Rana made amazing food from behind the scenes. Highly recommend the place for South Indian food lovers!

Excellent Dosas! The coconut special dosa was a fantastic blend of ingredients and the dosa was nice and crisp. Tomato and coconut chutneys were great with the dosa. Sambar was thicker than Im used to but still super flavorful with the right spice level. Chai tea was a perfect drink to go with the meal.

Best Dosa in Kamloops

I recently visited Coconut and was quite disappointed with the experience. The Masala Dosa was overly salty, and my order was incorrect. Despite the server double-checking the order with us, she did so at such a rapid pace that it was hard to understand. This occurred even after confirming the order three times. Moreover, the service left much to be desired. My appetizer was served after my main course, which is unacceptable. Overall, the staffs approach to resolving the issue was inadequate, leaving me very dissatisfied with the service.

I recently visited this gem of a restaurant and tried their signature dosa. It was a culinary masterpiece! The dosa was perfectly crisp, golden-brown, and served piping hot. The accompanying sambar and chutneys were a flavor explosion - fresh, aromatic, and with just the right amount of spice. The staff was friendly and the service prompt. Following are the items we bought and the review rated on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being excellent: Starters/Appetizers: Puli Inji Wings - 10/10 absolutely a verity item worthy of trying Fish Pakora - 9/10 Vada - 7/10 Could be bit more crispier and browner Sambar - 9/10 Chutney - 8/10 Could be the coconut Main: Coconut Beef Curry - 10/10 Coconut Beef Pepper Fry - 10/10 the best we had in all of North America Beef Dhum Biriyani - 5/10 even though tasty it felt kind of wet due to the improper draining of water from the basmati rice after cooking Butter Roti - 9/10 Tandoori Roti - 10/10 Excellent - do not take home it will become soggy Rumali Roti - 7/10 we have had Rumali roti from lots of places the name itself suggest it has to be thin and soft but this was not but surely it tasted good Kappa - 9/10 really well made Fish Curry Hot - 9/10 Fish Curry Extremely Hot - 9/10 didnt find very much difference between the 2 other than the presence of couple of chilies in it. The service was excellent and a big Thumps up to the team, please work on your Biriyani Rice process no need to change any ingredients but the rice has to be better - the rice itself is a very good quality one but the process of making it and draining it should be worked upon. Please also make the Rumali Roti thinner and bigger if possible, it surely is tasty. All the best and keep up the good work.

A good restaurant for Indian, south Indian food. There was one server and she was doing her best. Food was good, prices were slight on top edge but still manageable. We like this place, will come back again whenever passing through and strongly recommend to everyone and anyone who loves Indian, South Indian food.

The food was great, as always, but the service was terrible. After bringing our food, the server didnt bother to check on us or give us water. It felt like we were being ignored & discriminated especially since other tables were getting better attention. Even though there were only three other small tables occupied, the service didnt improve. Its a shame that such good food comes with such bad service. Didn t expect this kind of service from an Indian restaurant.

Service was ok, but the food quality was so bad. Chicken was totally uncooked and barely chewable. Quantity according to price is not at all food at this restaurant.

Some of the best Indian food I have had in a while! Excellent unique choices served by an extremely knowledgeable staff that is happy to answer all questions. Admittedly, service was a little slow, however what other reviews fail to mention is that there was only one server for the entire restaurant and I think she did an excellent job.

Best Indian Food in town. So, we walked through the door and looked around. Nice enough I guess. Very clean. We sit down and ordered food, some of which we have never tried before. The server was awesome and answered our many questions. Then our appy veggie pakoras came. Wow. After 45 mnts the order was placed and the next was the waiting time for the food. Low quality, over priced food came after 1 hr. The attitude towards customer was very bad.

First of all its not a South Indian restaurant. Dont get confused with menu. The service was very bad and long wait time to take the order and get the food. if they can say you have to wait 45 mnts to order your food , people cab look for better options. Secondly low quality and overpriced food.

Best dosa in town

I would NEVER EVER step in this restaurant again. First the server took the order verbally without noting down on a paper that what is the customer s order or requirement. As of you are gonna remember everything verbally doing your job. Second our order came (which was late) and most importantly (WRONG ITEM), then the server told us oh sorry about that i ll get you the dish you ordered, by that time half of our food was cold. Third we asked for to change the plates as we had some snacks before, which the server changed with (DIRTY PLATES). I could easily see on the plates that it was not washed properly, stains of food dishes on it. I respect the food and never leave it unfinished, but on that day i left whole lot of food in my plate as it got cold and was tasteless after that. Later on we went to pay bill and the lady server told us oh we got busy all of a sudden that is why the service was late. We had to ASK for the DISCOUNT, for the messed up service and experience, there was no compensation gesture from servers for their fault. And the prices of the dishes they charge oh god bless, I don t wanna go to that part. I spent 70$ in this restaurant which was whole waste and not worth it. If you are gonna charge premium money for the food, then have the guts to serve food up to that mark. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever in my life nor will go there ever.. Note: Do not waste your TIME AND MONEY. Rest is your choice Thank you Have a good business

The service was nice the atmosphere was really nice but to be honest as someone who has a brown boyfriend and have been eating Indian food since 4 years. The food here have probably been the worst tasting and I don t just mean non-authentic food but also food that was salted too much and had the taste was just straight up bad.

We visited this restaurant on our way back to Surrey from Calgary. The restaurant says it s South Indian. But the food did not taste at all like South Indian. We ordered chicken biryani, pork roast and parota. The chicken biryani and pork roast tasted horrible. We couldn t even finish it. Never tasted such bad biryani in a South Indian restaurant. We paid $20 for a biryani which was tasteless! Won t be visiting this place again.

We ordered Masala dosa, chicken bryani and sweet Lassi. The food was delicious and not too spicy, and arrived quickly. We ordered 2 of their desserts, both of which were delicious and plated very well.

Good service, we also liked the way food was served, cutlery was premium, and everything tasted amazing. We asked for non spicy and the food was customised for us Vegetarian options: South and North Indian vegeterian options. Parking: in front paid street parking. Kid-friendliness: non spicy and staff was happy to customize as per our kid taste.

Food is good but the service is bad. I read the reviews and everyone made the same complaint. To which, the restaurant replied, service maybe delayed but our chef wants to send out the best. When the restaurant is been appreciated for the food and when you have guests coming then what restricts you in hiring more staff? Be it chef or the server, hire them who can cater to the needs! I was there for a day. Wanted to return before it turned dark. I know the food should be served as ordered but sometimes special requests should be considered. It took more than 45 mins for the food to arrive on my table that too after reminding the server thrice. So the service as a whole is terribly slow which is bad. Now comes the food. Ordered Chicken Noodles which were good. Vada Sambhar was okayish but the chilli chicken dosa was ultimate. Value for money and tasty too. Very well made. But being a South Indian restaurant their chutney and sambhar was not upto the mark. Very bland and not tasty sadly. But my dosa was with a chinese touch hence I didnt need the accompaniment but otherwise it wasnt as it should be. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options like Idly, Medu Vada etc.

This review is long overdue. Last summer my husband and I were driving back from Banff to Seattle and spent a night in Kamloops. We were so excited to find a good dining option close by our hotel. My husband is a strict pescatarian and I can eat anything and this restaurant hit the spot. I ordered their butter chicken and my husband had their fish curry. Both dishes were so tasty and delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and my butter chicken was tender and juicy. Their naan was perfect as well! The service was excellent as the host and waiter were very attentive to us during our meal. I highly recommend coming by and checking them out if you re ever in Kamloops. :)

I recently stopped here during a transit and tried the Bombay dosa. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the experience. The dosa didnt taste fresh, the red chutney was also not up to par, and the presentation was messy. I understand its not a 7-star restaurant, but I expected better. The dosa was even served cracked and in pieces, which was disappointing.1 Bonus Star for just customer service.

Customers for this restaurant, on numerous occasions, have parked in the 10 minute loading zone in front of the Bedford Seniors Houseing. Because of this, seniors are forced to load down the street away from the entrance. This situation will be monitored and a tow vehicle will be called in the future.

I recently dined at this restaurant after a long period. In fact, after two years. Sadly, I had to change my five ratings to three now. If youre looking for authentic Kerala-style cuisine, this is not the place anymore. I tried their Kerala-style beef. All I was able to taste was oil. And the Kerala parotta was the ready-to-eat one in the Real Canadian superstore. The service is pretty good, and the ambience is also pretty nice. However, I am a person who gives importance to the quality of the food. And unfortunately, it wasnt enjoyable. I dont know why their quality went down. If youre looking for an average indian restaurant, yes, this is the place. But if youre looking for authentic Kerala-style food, this is not the place.

One of my friends suggested this restaurant for South Indian dishes. During our visit, it was crowded. The QR code for the menu was on the table itself. Since the waiters were busy with other orders, we had waited around 10 minutes without noticing the QR code. It might be due to the rush that attendees failed to inform us about the menu. We ordered chicken dum biryani and ghee roast. Both dishes seemed mouth-watering. The ghee roast was top-notch among the ones I already had in BC. Biryani was also good. The service was pathatic. For Onion uttapam and mysore malasa dosa waited for more than 40 mins and have to ask how long it will take and next minute it was served. Other tables who came and ordered Dosa after us were served before. On top Onion uttapam was uncooked and thick. The excuse for the delay was they can make only 1 DOSA at a time then why we were not informed that we cant take order for 2 DOSAS or we are busy so dont offer it. NEVER GOT SUCH EXCUSE at any restaurant. They should get 0 stars for such service and food. When informed that uttapam is uncooked, the response was will inform the cook. I wasted $31 with them even BILL printout was not offered. Visited this store while coming from North Vancouver and wouldnt recommend any East Indian to eat here. Recent 1 star reviews clearly shows this business have bad service and the food is not good. Clearly server thinks that she remembers everything while taking order and provide bad service. Asks how is the food and when you tell her there is issue then sorry we cant do anything you have to pay for bad food n service.

YUM ! I ordered the beef coconut curry , garlic naan and tandoori roti and oh my goodness it is amazing. The flavor is SO good . I asked for it mild because I dont like too much heat and it came perfectly. I got a side of Pickles so I can have a little spice bite here and there and I am definitely going to try more items. Thanks for the delicous dinner

Was in Kamloops for a road trip and was craving some good south Indian for lunch. Visited this gem of a South Indian restaurant and was absolutely blown away by the authenticity of the flavors. Not only was the food incredible, but the prices were unbelievably reasonable. A must-visit for anyone craving genuine South Indian cuisine!

Ordered coconut curry. The coconut curry which I ordered wasn t in the bag, I drove back and told them they didn t give me the coconut curry chicken which they tried to charge me for again. The other things I ordered where there except the coconut curry.

To buy a good biriyani is hard these days. Recommendations: Even if youre serving frozen rice, kindly try to fluff it up properly before plating it on top of the gravy. Chunks of cold sticky rice is not a good thing. Spicy should mean the food gives a warm sensation from all the spices, and it shouldnt mean you should throw in a lot of red chilli powder to increase the scoville level cause thats just bad cooking (red chilli is just a part of providing that sensation), and it makes the dish unpalatable so kindly do something about it, at least with the biriyani. Please add more curd in raitha, isnt it used to mellow out the spice level or to increase creaminess of each spoonful of biriyani, if anyone needs salad with their biriyani they will order a bowl of it separately, dont have to stuff all the veggies in raitha. Kindly add more fried onions as toppings rather than charred ones, and yes charred onions makes sense if it is to counter food poison, but not in that quantity and it did not work for me, I still had troubles (food poisoning). Table touching, check what it is and see if it can be implemented at least once with each customers, it at least gives customers that face time to ask for water or something else from the menu, before they are done with the first course of meal.

I recently went to coconut. The south Indian dinner was awesome especially the sambar. Aftera long time I tasted real authentic South Indian sambar, I tried few restaurants in Kamloops but your south Indian food is outstanding. Thanks The Coconut. if you are south Indian and missing your authentic food I highly recommend Coconut.
