It would be zero stars if possible. I came twice this summer, both times absolutely ignored both times. The servers are experts at avoiding eye contact or smiling. No idea how the food or drinks are, or even the water. Each 15 minute wait there though was enough to tell me that tourists should stay clear (lots of grubby street people hanging around your vehicles) and locals to not support such a shoddy establishment. Was one day in late May, and again today approx 545pm.

Heather was an incredible server and super helpful, dogs are allowed on the patio. She got my dog water without me asking and was attentive and kind. The food was hot, homemade, and very good! Beautiful view on the patio and quiet atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I showed up and ordered a gin peach smash.. it took 3 times to get the drink right and then we gave up and drank it anyways. Great service but they need to learn a lot more. Disappointed. Great view tho.

The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. The food here is amazing along with the service, the staff are very attentive and quick to bring our drinks and food and are very good at making sure everyone is being well taken care of

Huge servings if you don t mind the wait. They only take cash which is inconvenient. Atmosphere is great along with the view in the summer. Definitely worth trying. The fries are unreal IMO.

food was good, drinks were good, our server was very nice and attentive. however, after we had paid the bill, we need a box for our food and couldn t see our server so we politely asked another server for a box he looked at us, rolled his eyes and walked away. about 5 minutes later he came back and just threw the box on our table. i understand you aren t our server but was it really such trouble to get a box? couldn t say sure i can get that for you or a youre welcome after we thanked you. don t think that attitude was necessary. wouldn t want to come back to get him as a server.

NOTE THIS PLACE IS CASH ONLY. I really wanted to love this place. It has so much potential in a beautiful location with a very cute lay out. The service was severely lacking and I completely understand being short staffed, what I couldnt understand was the food we waited so long for. The calamari was hard as rocks and while I wasnt expecting sea to table, i was also not expecting it to be freezer burnt. I wish them the best though, like I said this place has so much potential!! I would suggest stopping by if your looking for a cute waterfront patio to drink at.

I was so excited to go here, and yesterday was a beautiful day , my family was in town from the coast and what a better way to spend the afternoon then on the patio on the river. The server was very nice , friendly, polite did a good enough job. The Panchos were to die for , I would go back for those and a Ceasar and the patio . My SIL and I both ordered the chicken sandwich hers spicy mine not. When it came out I was one bite in and all I could taste was cinnamon, I didnt say anything thinking I must be crazy my chicken tasted like cinnamon toast crunch cereal. I notice my SIL not eating hers either and asked why she said it was odd cinnamon flavor for chicken. Neither of us took more then 2 bites of the burger before deciding against it. We mentioned to the server ( not ours but the other one on the patio) about thos weird flavor, she mentioned she noticed the same thing the day before when she ate it told us she would look into it and continued on. When out server came back we explained to her we did not like the cinnamon toast crunch chicken. She did offer to get us something else we both declined and did not eat any more of our meals. We finished up a lovely afternoon on the patio and the bill came , I was 1 a little shocked a manager never came to find out what was wrong with the food , and 2 a little more shocked to see we were charged full price for both meals that left out table full. We paid the bills and left disappointed. I would have expected either a discount ( I ate some of my fries and half my mac and cheese )or to have the meals removed from our bill.

Brie (our server) was busy but kept up with all her tables. Food was good (burgers are made fresh, not frozen) but what is great is the location. This restaurant has a patio over the river and is so relaxing. Will definitely add this to my list of returns for another day.

It used to be a good place. Food quality has dropped, and its now family unfriendly. They seem to cater more to loudmouth obnoxious drunks. I guess you have to go where the money is to stay in business.

Nice patio but we left after 10 minutes of receiving no service. Cash only is weird and we also got attitude from an employee upon entering, on where we were and werent allowed to sit.

Perfect location! Water view, yummy appetizers, great music, friendly and fun staff! I had a watermelon mojito (so refreshing) and our group of four shared coconut prawns, jalapeño poppers, Yorkshires and ceaser salad. Everything was cooked to perfection! The best part of the experience (we re tourists) was being in a family run business (not a chain) and sitting outside on the water! I highly recommend the Sandbar Grill in Kamloops!

Love this little hidden gem on the North Shore. Patio dining and drinks; right on the shores of the Thompson River. Good food. Reasonable prices. Super friendly staff. When I asked why they were cash only, the server gave me a great response: ...why give Moneris all those fees when instead that money could go towards better pay for and more staff.... Dont worry if you forgot, they have an on site ATM.

Didnt have items listed on menu, and the wing sauces they made up were were something to be acquired.

Sat outside on their deck and enjoyed a margarita beer. The flavour was strange but satisfying. Theres a first time for everything and this was it! Awesome to be able to go for a bike ride and stop and have a beer on your way home. Im sure Ill do it again?

The bar/restaurant was a mess, you have to wait at least 15 minutes until someone comes to you to tell you to just sit wherever. It takes about 40-50 min for the food to come and the waitress never checks on your food/drinks. Cash only rule is absolutely odd and the waitresses added an order of fries even though we never ordered them. Rude and neglecting waitress who blamed me that our orders were too complicated and didnt know how to split bills. The waitresses prioritized the reserved birthday party and sitting down with other guests over taking orders and payments. One of the worst restaurants my friends and Ive ever been to.

We went in for a date and dinner on a night were they were clearly not busy at all, stood there waiting to be seated though and nobody came, then a elderly fellow who was a patron told us to just seat ourselves, waited for another 20 mins for someone to ask us if we wanted drinks. We ordered water and some jalapeño poppers, the water came the popper never did. Then the server asked if we wanted food. Of course by now about 45 minutes later we were hungry so we ordered two burgers one being the cajun one. They mixed up the burgers.and forgot to bring me another drink. And the Cajun one didn t seem Cajun in the slightest. The French onion soup way was over salted beyond belief, inedible. Guess that s how they get you to order more drinks? Lol when going to pay I told the server. Still waiting on those jalapeño poppers , he then decided to put the order through again. at this point we were fed up with the waiting. But we waited anyhow. And still gave him a really nice tip for at least giving us what we ordered finally. Great little spot and beautiful patio, but the food and service is definitely lacking. Will spend our date night at a different establishment next time

We went for the seafood platter for 2 tonight. I love seafood and find it overcooked all the time seriously if I wanted to eat rubber, I can do that in my own kitchen BUT the Sandbars calamari was second to none! Absolutely delicious Ive never been able to eat an entire piece anywhere in my 48yrs...even so called fresh calamari in Victoria I just couldnt get enough!! You can taste the seasoning, the light breading, and the succulent calamari itself!! I now have a new favourite food!

French onion soup didnt taste like French onion. Wings were over cooked and hard to eat Gravy sucked. Fries were overcooked. Our waitress wasnt very friendly at all. All this gross stuff cost 50 bucks. Such a rip off. Will never go back. Their friends and family must be posting all the 5 star reviews. Never write reviews but felt I had to this time.

Ive been a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and are large servings. Prices are comparable to places like Dennys but the quality is far superior. The live music is always a nice treat. The staff is always polite. As others said, its cash only but there is a reasonably priced atm or hit the bank first. Its also quite loud in there so if you like loud, take out might be better.

Place had great fish tacos, apples in the slaw was a welcomed suprise, crispy fries which were well seasoned and decent drinks. Inside was VERY loud, music was up far to high so we had to sit on the patio with limited shade. Service was slow to say the least, but she was trying to keep up with the tables, we got one paper menu to share between 4 people which was a bit odd, otherwise it was a nice place. Not a to of parking but Id 100% return.

It may have been an off night, but the service was terrible. Really slow with the food, we never did get the appetizer we ordered until after our food arrived. We wanted it before dinner, not as dessert. They could have sold us more drinks but the server was MIA. Nice location and good food but youre going to have to wait for it.

Food is always amazing and fresh. The views on the patio are one of the best. The live music was fantastic, these guys were hilarious and so interactive with the guests. Only thing I personally dont enjoy is that they dont take cards for payment, cash only. They do have an ATM machine on site which takes a fee. Just heads up. One of my fave places when I want to sit on a patio!

Absolutely terrible customer service. Its cash only, but they wont tell you this until after you have food and drinks. Wouldnt bother me if their atm didnt charge fees on top of my orders.. Not sure if the waiter was having an off night or not, but he clearly didnt want our service, or a tip as it seemed like an inconvenience that we ordered another round.. Probably wont be back or recommend as there is much better service at other places around town.

Neat being on the river, but cash only is sketchy. Food we never ate due to ridiculous pricing and inconsistent pricing that doesnt make sense. ex. Double burger is 12oz. but $28? Regular single 6oz. burger is still $24. Plus this is a beach patio...

We made a reservation for the Sunday of labor day long weekend and they took it. We show up that Sunday and they are freaking closed!! Why take a reservation if youre closed for the long weekend? Thank God other places were open cause this place is disorganized and doesnt care about calling people back if they are closed

Really tasty food and amazing service! Sat out on the patio, it was a bit chilly so they offered us blankets and brought over a little propane fire pit! Was such a great atmosphere! I will absolutely be going again!

7/10 This was a challenging review to write. My partner and I went on a Friday night. It was busy but we got a table after a few minutes on the outdoor gravel patio overlooking the river. We were shown to our seats and sat for about 12 minutes before our server came back and realized we had no menus or access to online menus. When she asked what we were having to drink we said just water for now to which our server responded what, really!?. We quickly ordered and it took another 35 minutes or so to get our food. There was music playing which was nice, but the wind was a bit chilly. Pros: Food was plentiful and overall pretty good. The view of the river was nice. Our server was friendly and polite overall. Live music was good. Cons: Cash only with an ATM next to the register at $1.5 per transaction. Service was slow. Overall staff didnt take COVID restrictions very seriously. Reused Menus and door-man was mask-less the entire time we were there. The Meh: Food was overall okay. (chicken burger with mac and cheese and chicken and waffle). Definitely more of a local watering hole with lots of trades peoples having after work drinks. Meals were overall priced accordingly at about $18-22 per plate.

The Sandbar was a great vibe! A few drinks above the river and some great food was a good way to end off the work week. A little slow when busy but the service is great nonetheless.

The place was slammed and understaffed but the waitresses did a great job picking up the slack. Got the wrong food at first but the food was great when I got it.

Food was ok, server I had was rude and seemed offended by me asking questions about ordering food to go, my dad and his wife was supposed to come out for dinner with me but couldnt make it right away and asked me to order take out for them. I ordered there wings and the server said you need to pay full priced for take out wings and cant get it half off I said ok but can I get it to go or get to go containers? He said awe man dont do this to us, I said its fine Ill pay full but I want it hot when Im done eating so itll be hot when I leave, instead he brought it early when I was half way done eating, was very slow at giving me a refill on my pop, when he did get my drink he plopped it next to me rudely. Was my first time eating at this restaurant and itll be my last time.

Great atmosphere, amazing food - homemade and sourced from local resources. Recently added an ice cream bar too. Fantastic one stop shop choice for dinner out with our friends and family.

Relaxing atmosphere with great food and drinks. The riverside patio is really nice on warm days. Food is really good. Ive had burgers, wings, and the daily specials and they are all well prepared and wont leave hungry. Different drink specials everyday and all the drinks are great price. With the new ice cream bar outside you can even get a margherita.

Yale County Jug Band (live entertainment) was very good! Do NOT order drinks that are not shots or beer! - pretty obvious other drinks are watered down. Seems sketchy having to pay cash ONLY. Service was terrible one time and not bad the next. Food was pretty good on the first visit but BBQ night was pretty cheap and no effort made for $20. Also, drink order was completely screwed up mess when we got the bill, and the other people at our table experienced the same.

This is the worst service we ve had since we ve been in BC and there weren t that many people. Slow service and cash only. Because of the slow service we only ordered the iron road beer - which is skunky as an FYI. I understand that there s a service fee to take debit/credit, but don t pass your problems on to your customers. It s 2021 people, get a debit/credit machine. Nice patio and view of the river though.

Hello I was at the SANDGRILL tonight. Food was good. But service was not good. Drinks took a long time too get too us. Service took over 45 mins for us too get more drinks. Big table beside us got more service then we did. I have been too the SANDGRILL many times. Tonight I was very disappointed in there service.

It was good. The atmosphere was the best part about the place, the food was okay. Would not go back for the food but socialize.

Fabulous!! Food was great, atmosphere and staff fantastic. They had a live band that was very enjoyable. Fire pits on the deck area just added that extra ambiance while overlooking the river. All around a great experience and fun time.

Exceptional service by our server Jake, we got a full order of the New Orleans Lachos topped with jalapeño peppers and sausage and shared between four of us. Great live music in the background as well by a local musician.

Well, the place looked great, but as we were roasting in the sun on the deck (where we asked to be seated) and politely asked to be moved to a more comfortable area, we were made to feel like they were doing us a favour by letting us eat there, and informed that this would be the last time they would let us move. I get the COVID-19, but how about some manners?
