Cozy and upscale, with a focus on locally sourced food, wine and spirits. Friendly, welcoming vibe. Dine-in, takeout
Had a lovely experience here for appetizers and drinks. Steph was kind, attentive and very thoughtful in serving us. She went out of her way to even replace my drink after she saw a leaf fall into it - I did not even have to ask! In fact, I did not even notice myself. Food was spectacular. Upon first glance, the menu is similar to canadian bistros across the country, but each dish was executed at a high level. Each bite was well balanced, and the rabbit spanakopita was a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend. Thank you Steph and Brownstone for a wonderful meal.
Seriously unbelievable food. We're just passing through Kamloops and picked this place at random and we were blown away. Food and cocktails are really creative and they nailed absolutely everything. Best meal we've had in a long time.
We went to this restaurant due to all the positive reviews. As a fine dining restaurant, we are extremely disappointed with their quality of dining experience. If you are an Asian tourist, please avoid this place (The servers were very nice to other Caucasian dinners but expect us.). Food quality: We ordered bacon wrapped elk meatloaf, seafood stew and lamb pasta alla Norma. My husband liked the elk meatloaf but I found the meat was a bit overcooked. The potion was great. The pasta was the worse pasta I’ve ever had. The pasta sauce was very watery like they didn’t drain the water from the pasta. I didn’t taste the lamb sausage with any seasoning. I couldn’t find or taste the smoky eggplant either. The flavour was very confusing. I was really sure what I was eating. The seafood stew (with coconut lime broth) was also very watery, more like seafood soup with undercooked brown basmati rice. I didn’t really taste the coconut lime broth because it was so watery. Atmospheres: During our dinner service, there were a group of customers smoking right outside the restaurant beside the patio. We also got a small toddler who inhaled the second hand smoke. We were smelling different type of cigarette smokes during half of our dinner service. The server offered us a table inside the restaurant but our food already came. Moreover, we noticed that they got lots flies around. We were extremely stressed through our dinner service as we had to fight the food against the flies. (I took couple picture with multiple flies on the plate. ). It definitely doesn’t meet my expectations for a restaurant, especially a fine dining restaurant. Service: My husband called in the book a table. They said that they got a table in the patio. When we got there, I saw many empty tables outside. I asked if we can sit somewhere not too close to the road but the manager said that they are fully booked. During our entire dinner service, I saw couple tables were still empty. I don’t understand why they can’t accommodate our simple request as some walk in customers were were seated upon their request. My husband wanted to ask for a clean plate. The server walked off as we tried to call her very out loud. Thanks to the dinners from another table stopped her. It was extremely hard for us to ask for her. We had to wait for a long time for her to come by. I caught her checking on her phone outside of the restaurant. We have noticed that the Caucasian customers. were treated very differently from us. The servers were super friendly and helpful with the Caucasian customers. Overall, this is so far one of my worst dinning experiences! I do not recommend this place to anyone. If you are a tourist, save your money to go somewhere with better quality food and friendly service.
Amazing food, great service. We ordered a couple of cocktails, one was very similar to old fashion but with more ingredients, my partner enjoyed it a lot. Mine was the featured cocktail. Salty was very refreshing with taste of cucumber, mint and lemon. We ordered a green salad for appetizer, it was a little smaller portion than usual salads , but very tasty. I loved how quick our drinks and salad came to our table before ordering the main courses. Then, Brazilian sea food and steak for the main course were served. The sea food stew came with mussels, shrimp, squid and scallops bedded on brown rice. It was very delicious and a light meal, I do recommend this for sea food lovers. My partner enjoyed his Steak with a IPA. The dish was a proper portion came with special potato scallops and grilled zucchinis as side dish. Make sure to make reservation at least a couple of days before the night you planning to dine there since the restaurant is not very big.
New Year's Eve dinner did not disappoint! Absolutely everything that hit the table was spectacular. From the first sip of the cocktails to the last bite of dessert. Everything was perfect. Could not have picked a better spot to spend our last meal of 2023
It’s located in a heritage building but the air conditioning was running good, I know others prefer the patio but it was a hot day when I came. Food was delicious, had the mussels, pork chop and duck breast orders. Service was friendly, we were greeted and seated quickly, but there was a longer wait time after our orders were placed for the food to arrive. The place did get busy so I suppose it’s somewhat expected.
We took my mom out for her 70th birthday. We were not disappointed. I had a crab cake appetizer, which was great. Nice and flaky with a delicious slaw. My mom and sister split the appetizer salad. They loved the dressing. For dinner, I had the lamb ragu! Amazing, tender meat, fresh noodles, and a great tomato sauce. I paired it with Fort Berens meritage. My mom had the trout. It was a larger portion than she expected and she loved hoq fresh it was. For dessert we had chocolate cake, crème brulé, and a sorbet, espresso, bailey's mix that my mom loved. A great meal, with great service.
Great restaurant in a heritage building in downtown Kamloops. Service is professional and attentive, wine list is decent, food is beautifully plated and tasty. Our first time here. Had dinner before attending a Kamloops Symphony performance. We will return!
A quiet and intimate dining room. Waitress was very attentive and the prices were reasonable for a fine dining establishment.
Very nice staff atmosphere was amazing food was 12 our of 10 drink selection 8 out of ten but overall 5 stars. Perfect place for a date night
Awesome food served by a fantastic staff. The elk is melt in your mouth delicious
I had mixed feelings about my experience. While the ambiance was cozy, my appetizer was a disappointment I found bone shards in it, which was quite unsettling. The mussels were gritty, lacking the fresh taste I was hoping for. Additionally, the wait staff didn t create the warm, welcoming atmosphere I expected. Service felt lackadaisical and inattentive, which detracted from the overall experience.
Good menu and wine list. Service was very good.
Truly excellent restaurant. One of the best we have been to in years. Apps of steak tartar and mussels in wine sauce were great. Ahi tuna was cooked perfectly and the kimchi fried rice with a fried egg to soften the heat of the kimchi is inspired! The Brownstone is a must go to place.
A very nice up scale restaurant.
Avoid this restaurants if you are not Caucasian. We are clearly not welcome when we comes in. The female server that has undercut/ shaved on two side has the disgusted face when we walked in. We feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Will not be back.
This...place...was amazing!
Excellent food and service
Food was excellent. Service was beyond bad. It s so slow it felt hostile. The woman with too many tattoos hates her jobs and the customer. It shows.
In this age of overpriced mediocre meals, Brownstone was a pleasant surprise with their outstanding meals and lovely staff. What a breath of fresh air to get real value in a nice meal out with family. Definitely a highlight of our visit in Kamloops.
Went to the brownstone for a night out. The food was ok, the service was so, so. The atmosphere was not great, after all these years there is still no air conditioning or a fan system to circulate the air. It was hotter than a sona, in the restaurant, the staff were complaining about the heat. The whole experience was extremely uncomfortable, constant sweat. The temperature outside was 33, when we left and that felt cooler than being inside. The experience and time would be a lot better, if a proper cooling system was installed so guests and staff can be comfortable.
Weve eaten at Brownstone maybe 50 times and we always enjoy it. The atmosphere is so cosy and the staff are always friendly. The menu stays pretty much the same but every now and again they change something - but there are often specials from cocktails to starters to main courses. The food is delicious and its become a regular favourite of ours.
Just amazing!
Food
I cannot praise Brownstone restaurant enough! Whenever we celebrate our anniversaries or any special occasion, Brownstone is our top choice, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently outstanding and delicious, the service is highly professional, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. If youre looking to experience high cuisine food with impeccable service, Brownstone is the perfect choice for you. Highly recommend!
The food is definitely top notch. Taste and quality is far superior than similarly priced restaurants in Greater Vancouver Area. Great atmosphere and friendly staff adds on to make this a favorite for special occasions
Top notch cocktails. Absolutely divine. Dinner was stellar too. 100% Ill be back. Food
Excellent Crab cakes and Elk Meatloaf.
They hit the spot and the timing of the plates coming out was also just right, nice work tonight! The fancy dinner spot in Kamloops for sure!
Have been twice for dinner and enjoyed the variety in both food and drinks/wine. Great service too.
5 stars across the board! We finally went here after countless years of walking by and wondering, and I m so glad we did. The food was phenomenal, and the drinks were just as great. Not just that, but the service made us feel particularly cared for. They really go the extra mile to make sure you feel at home.
Always lovely staff to deal with, great food and gluten free food!!!!
Great food: pasta soup and fish appetizer were great. Would highly recommend
Great place for an evening out.
Excellent service and intimate atmosphere! The starter duck fat fried poutine was very tasty and immediately served! My pepper crusted ahi tuna was cooked perfectly and the udon noodles were firm. I was not a fan of the veggies as the cabbage? was bitter for me. The steak was nicely cooked and the serving sizes were good for the cost. I would go back and try the chicken with mushroom Risotto it sounds so good.
This is the second time my partner and I have gone and it s been amazing both times. Once for an anniversary, and this time for a birthday. The drinks are delicious, all of the food is amazing, one of the best steaks I have ever had, and such a lovely atmosphere. The staff/owner have treated us so well, and we can t wait to come back! Thank you so much for such a nice night. It s a gem of Kamloops!
We were a table of 5...all 5 meals were over the top fantastic. Saw a few meals behind us...looked amazing...that couple said it was great. The service and the ambience was outstandi g. The only bad thing was the lack of scent free environment. A woman came in and sat behind us so covered in perfume we almost left. It was one bite of heaven and another of WAY too much perfume. Its sad that people are that stupid and inconsiderate of others to enter a restaurant after bathing in perfume or cologne.
Best restaurant in Kamloops.
Space was unique, food and everything else was ok.
Had a 20 person birthday dinner here this past Friday and lemme tell ya... It was absolutely perfect! Not only did they accommodate a couple days before Valentines day, they were on point with service, food, allergies and more... Drinks were incredible as well! I cant say enough about the Brownstone. Connie and her crew hit it out of the park! Great location, and the ambience of the restaurant itself is one of a kind to make for an amazing restaurant experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend for date night or lunch as well . Thanks again for making our night so wonderful
We love Brownstones. It s the best and classiest restaurant in Kamloops. It s so nice that the male Kamloops folk mostly don t wear baseball caps while dining here, would you believe? Just shows you what a step above regular eateries Brownstones is. Service is warm and friendly and food has always been delicious. It s not a cheap night for a couple each having a starter, main & a drink or 2, but for an occasion, it s totally worth it.
Outstanding food and beverage. Always enjoy when I can get a Crannog - Back Hand Of God.
I dont know how they could get anything less than 5 stars!!
The food is always incredible! My husband and I go often for appetizers and drinks after a long work week. Connie s Martinis are top notch.. We recommend them 100% for all occasions..
Great date night restaurant. Unique menu and great selection of drinks. Could use a non dairy option for the dessert though . The elk meatloaf was not gamey at all. So tasty.
Hands down, the best restaurant meal I have had in more than 3 years. Outstanding taste and quality. Incredible service. Amazing bar. If I could offer more than 5 stars, I would. We will, 100%, be back again.
Their service, the food just fabulous !! We felt very important. One of the Best managed restaurants in town! Thank you Brownstone Joy
The flavor combos were on point and well-balanced. The use of the sambal in the crab cakes smoked beetroot in the carpaccio, and horseradish in the mashed potatoes were of particular note. And thank you for the opportunity to taste that new Cab!
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly Food
Nice place especially compared to other restaurants. The food was great. The ribeye was a bit too black imo. A bit pricy with the wines.
Hands down my favourite restaurant in kamloops top marks for this gem
Best place in town.
We found the surroundings very bar like. A bit disappointed as it is upscale. Food was lovely and just the right amount. Offers a very interesting menu.
Great night out
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was elegant and the service first class.
Was a lovely date night place. Menu is small and drinks are EXPENSIVE. Unfortunately my steak was undercooked and it was very bland, nit even salt or pepper. Just basic. Basic mashed potatoes with butter. Beans were good. I was comped a mocktail for the steak but overall ... meh Also menu is extremely limited for dairy free options
Best cocktails in town! Excellent food and service. Our go to for fine dining.
We went here because of the good reviews. The service was very nice and the cocktails were great, tasted very fresh and delicious. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food. The tuna was very tasty, but the quino was dry and didnt taste like anything. I asked for extra sauce to make it taste like something, they also asked for $3 and apparently I was the second guest that night to ask for sauce. That should perhaps give the restaurant something to think about. The steak was also charred on the outside and not as ordered on the inside. Unfortunately, its a shame
Beautiful setting great atmosphere and scrumptious dishes and great service.
Traveling through from Los Angeles, one of the best restaurants Ive been to in years.
I was in Kamloops for sightseeing and visited this restaurant on my last night. I entered by myself, was shown to a table, and since I didnt understand English, I ordered using a translation app. When I told him that I wanted to try an unforgettable salmon dish, he recommended some. I ordered an appetizer, main course, and cocktail, and was looking forward to seeing what would come out. All the dishes that came to the table were very delicious. The salmon was very large and I was pretty full. I wanted to try dessert too, but if I have a chance to go to Kamloops again, I would definitely like to enjoy dessert as well. It was a good restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
OMG the FOOD!
Absolute gem of a find. Quaint restaurant in a heritage building with a delicious selection of cocktails and wine, and the food menu is unique and extremely tasty. The service was outstanding. Im so glad I found this place for our first night in Kamloops.
The smoked beats are worth having 5 orders they are so good. The Tuna and Ravioli are a definite order. Thank you for an amazing night
Very good food and a sincere effort to support local farmers. The only downside is that they dont serve local lamb!
Excellent food, excellent service large portions.
Great birthday dinner for my wife, excellent service, and warm atmosphere
Good service and a reasonable selection on the menu.
Delicious higher end restaurant in kamloops. The food is always surprisingly delicious and the prices while higher are on the reasonable side. Ive held a few special events at this place and the food was always the highlight. My favourite is the duck. They also have some seasonal menus. This is a place to splurge a little.
We just got back from dinner, everything was perfect. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and the sauces on all of our dishes were seasoned incredibly. Local wine selection is just a wonderful addition to a wonderful menu. Keep up the excellent work Brownstone.
Great food! Outstanding service! Well be back :)
Loved the building and the way they are maintaining it. Amazing hospitality and they always keeps an eye on you to find an opportunity to help you out when you are in need. Prompt service. And the food was so yum. Winter sangria was spot on so was the bacon wrapped elk meatloaf. The pasta in seafood main was so good that I felt like eating eventhough I was full. And the Chocolate cake was so good with its flavour, texture and bitterness. Loved it with the strawberry flavour on side. Overall a 10/10 with no flaws. Really a great restaurant and great people. Edit: I wanted to try more Poutines to comment on the Poutine I had from here but I could not find better Poutine than here on anywhere else. Best Poutine I ever had. Love your food and people. Super professionals.
A True Gem - we enjoyed a delicious dinner last night in Kamloops. A beautiful spot downtown, with amazing food and great service. Highly recommend the crab cakes and beetroot salad. Both very uniquely prepared and delicious ! Thank you.
We chose this restaurant based a the high reviews and were not disappointed. The service was attentive and prompt. We ordered salmon, duck and bacon wrapped elk meatloaf. Each were delicious. Presentation was beautiful. The warmth and character of the building was an added bonus. For such great food the pricing was very reasonable.
First class food. It always exceeds our expectations. Very knowledgeable with food allergies. The atmosphere is also date night approved.
Delicious food the best in town for sure Friendly staff, amazing venue Book in advance!
Excellent drinks and best food in kamloops!!!
Excellent food, excellent service. Wonderful place to eat.
Oh my goodness . This place is my happy place . The food the desserts .the drinks the service .the atmosphere .the patio . Everything is given so much love and attention . It s an experience that fills all your senses and you leave there just feeling calmer , happier and with a wonderful full belly .
Love this place! Delicious food, great wine list, adorable (dog-friendly!) patio, and charming service. We went for my birthday and booked in advance for a table on the patio so we could bring our dog (who is a rescue with separation anxiety) instead of leaving her with a sitter, and the staff were so helpful and accommodating. It was an absolutely delightful evening.
First time there and it was great!!
Flavor should be over the top for that price. Or 3x the portions, 3 Flies in the front room, and very warm inside. Very friendly and thats why stars appear in this rating.
Amazing meal in a garden oasis. Service was rushed to the point we didn t feel comfortable ordering after dinner drinks. Go, but go early!
I had the lamb shank, super tender and delicious. Thanks for Brownstone carrying local craft ciders and beers, I was introduced to my new favorite NOMA oak aged cider too!
Great service, beautiful building. Excellent food.
Sasparilla was excellent
Decent food. I like that they locally source much of it. A tad pricey
Best 5 STAR restaurant in Kamloops, hands down. From start to finish, Connie and her team, made us feel welcome and VIP. The drinks were delightful (garashished with locally sourced mint flowers) and the food was off the charts! Shout out to a top notch kitchen staff. Each of our dinners were cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed all the high end quality ingredients! Quinn, our server, was gracious, knowledgeable, and fun. The food, service, and ambiance is leagues beyond any other restaurant in town. If you are looking for 5 star experience, this is where you need to dine.
Food was great, service great! Ate on the patio. Just a suggestion, staff should be dressed a little more professional for this upscale restaurant. Converse runners and Lululemons, etc.. = casual. Menu, esthetics, suggest a little more upscale than casual. Rule of thumb, you should be dressed higher or equal to your customers. . That being said, we gave 5 stars, great food and service! Well done!
Very delicious food! Certainly, the best restaurant in Kamloops!
Excellent food & service, as usual. Dining on the garden patio on a warm summer evening added to the superb experience. Our favorite spot for special occasions.
The best!
I stopped in after a long day of driving from Banff. So refreshing to eat the local trout tartare, crab cake, and even wine from not too far. All exceptional. Thank you Connie!
Haven t eaten here YET but this place is amazing to get pictures for Instagram
Staff is great and food is even better all around great experience
Our experience at the Brownstone was fabulous !! Sara our server was amazing and very personable ! Everything right down to the age of the building was a truly great experience !
One of the best restaurants in BC. Dont miss this one! Food
As someone who appreciates fine dining and has eaten at several Michelin Star awarded restaurants, I can confidently say that Brownstone is an excellent experience!
Yummy offerings!
A fabulous everning, top notch food, wine and service.
We really enjoy Brownstone. My husband raves about the chicken and I do the same for their Paper Plane. I would like to visit more often but the vegetarian main remains the same for well over a year and has become a little tired for me. Would love to see another vegetarian main added to the list.
AWESOME
Brownstone is a wonderful restaurant and really a hidden gem in Kamloops. The restaurant took over a former CIBC bank. They cleverly worked their restaurant decor with the historic bank s architecture. It has high ceilings and multiple connected dining areas. You can always find something to look at when you sit inside. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The servers were all very speedy and provided good recommendations when we told them it s our first time visiting the restaurant. We ordered two appetizers (sausage and a soup), as well as two mains (ahi tuna and steak). The ahi tuna was cooked to perfection and the flavour combinations were on point. The steak was also grilled to a medium rare with good char marks. We also ordered a flight of BC wine as per our server s suggestion. Every dish was prepared with care and great attention to detail. We can tell they emphasize on freshness and focus on bringing out the best of each ingredient. Overall we were thoroughly impressed by the service, ambiance and their food. It was elegant and well executed. I highly recommend anyone visiting Kamloops to at least dine here for one of their meals.
Amazing menu, definitely the best restaurant in Kamloops in my opinion.
While most of the evening was pretty good there were a few things that just weren t so great. For being covid season the small dining area of the restaurant was quite packed so we tried to be as quick as we could once every table became full very shortly upon our arrival. Waiting quite a while for our meals we ordered a starter to keep us busy while also asking the waitress to turn up the heat as the single pane window seating was quite cold. The food was good except the starch and veg of our meals were fairly unpleasant. My beef shank whipped potatoes were very much over whipped and very glue like. And my partners leek bread pudding was stiff and tasted off as if it was older and over seasoned. The veg was beets and snap peas and the peas were way over cooked to brown almost mush. The tastes were amazing but the doneness needed more attention. Our server was very nice and well attentive. Would definitely go back back to give them another shot. Maybe on a warmer evening.
We love this restaurant! The food never disappoints! I had the elk meatloaf last night and it was so delicious! Also, shared the crab cake and carpaccio with my wife! They need to open one in Chilliwack!
One of the best meals of my life was had here. Great menu, grwat wine list and tasty cocktails.
We had a lovely patio table on a warm summer evening. That was the beginning of great dining experience. Ive eaten my share of meals around the world and this restaurant is among one of the bests I have ever visited. The food was exquisitely prepared and beautifully served. The portions were very ample and as our waitress told us, no one leaves here hungry. Located in an old bank, this restaurant exudes atmosphere inside and out. Cant wait to return next year!
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and we had an exceptional time. The recommendations we received for choices on our appetizers, main and desert were just perfect. Such a creative and delicious take on each aspect of our meal. Can t wait for our next meal from Brownstone!
The elk meatloaf was absolutely amazing and the crab cake was delicious
Fabulous Elk meatloaf!
I love a lot of the restaurants in Kamloops, but Brownstone is the most consistently high quality food, best atmosphere/space, and service. Appies, cocktails, and mains are all amazing. Every time. Kudos!
This is imho the best restaurant in Kamloops, in what is an increasingly diverse and interesting restaurant scene. Wonderful owners. Michelin attention. Refined but accessible cuisine. Lovely room and outdoor patio. Great part of town with a walk to Riverside Park before or after. Creative cocktails and good wine and beer offerings. Think of a cosy but busy bistro in Burgundy and youve got the Brownstone. Kamloops is so blessed to have this restaurant in their town because it would soar anywhere.
Quality ingredients, quality cooking and a quality atmosphere.
We felt so cozy on the outdoor patio, we enjoyed great service and the delicious food!
We havent been to too many restaurants in Kamloops but this is definitely the best we have tried. Excellent ambience on the shaded patio on a very warm Kamloops evening. The food and wine was delicious, at very reasonable prices. And the great service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Well be back!
Always excellent food and service. This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions or for just a night to relax and enjoy.
We found this review online when passing through Kamloops on Tuesday. We decided to give it a try. The food was delicious, good size portions, fresh and very tasty and staff were very friendly! I highly recommend it!
Amazing food
Truly excellent! We enjoyed it from the beginning (bread with butter) until the end! (Dishes and desserts all good!!!) A real nice surprise, after several days of vacation in the region, we finally discovered a REAL restaurant. What happiness!
Sophisticated dishes, beautiful presentation. We even had excellent service in French!
Another recommendation from Where to Eat in Canada, which has run its course, Brownstone was a fantastic place to have dinner. I had the delicious duck breast with perfectly cooked wild rice and delicious seasonal veggies. The cherry demi-glace was such a great flavour with the duck. As a started, I had the carrot-ginger soup which has just the right spicing to warm you on a brisk summer evening. To drink, the category 4 hurricane Tiki drink was a great, tropical-feeling rum cocktail that helped cut through my fairly rich meal. The service was fantastic, very friendly and quick.
Amazing! We would go out of our way to stay in Kamloops just to eat in this restaurant. Great location. Great ambience especially on the terrace on a balmy summer evening. Great menu and the food was executed perfectly. One of our highlight meals on a 3 week road trip of BC and Alberta. This restaurant shows $$$ but its cheap for the quality.
Great lovely owner and food wonderful
cosy atmosphere, hot and delicious food, friendly server. I will surely recommend it
Best in Kamloops
Had an amazing night celebrating my 29th birthday at this restaurant. The service and food were exceptional. I forgot to bring my ID with but they were so kind to make an exception on my birthday and let me in :)
Service was good. The drinks and trout tartar was very good. However, the mains were a bit disappointing. The trout was cooked perfectly, but the side potatoes were under done and tasted like it was parboiled instead of roasted. For a restaurant this caliber, I would expect a better execution of the entire dish.
I tried the lamb and it was very tender. Loved the mashed potatoes that had horseradish mixed in with them - I ve never tasted anything like that before and thought it was clever! The cheesecake was pretty good but the proportion of crumble was off (there was way too much). Also I personally didn t think it needed the ice cream (which didn t seem very high quality anyway).
Warm professional service, excellent food in traditional fine-dining ambience. Best place to eat in Kamloops. Ideal for romantic and other conversation.
The meal was spectacular. The bacon wrapped elk meatloaf was such a great tasting meal I almost skipped dessert. Im glad I didnt. The chocolate cake was brilliant. Oh and the Earl Grey martini.... perfect.
Wow! I have wanted to go to Brownstone for quite a while and finally went tonight. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere and the service were top notch. I cant wait to go again.
Was here for the first time for a Christmas party, will definitely go back for the food and atmosphere. Amazing service, superb cocktails, I really enjoyed the Beseme cocktail. I had the bacon wrapped elk meatloaf and the kamloops fog for dessert (which was a work of art in itself)..such good food and well worth the prices...which are more than fair.
Enjoyed the 3 course meal and wine pairing. Nicest dinner Ive had in Kamloops. Lots of great flavours. Staff was excellent.
Seven of us dined on a Friday evening. We had to call as they did not respond to my email. Very friendly and obliging on the phone and when we visited. Really good food that was excellently presented and very well cooked. Good choice of wines and not to expensively priced with good portion sizes. Service was excellent. This is a very good restaurant and I have no problem in recommending it.
Really good experience
Like it
Great Food Great Service Great atmosphere
Escargot and the Roasted Pecan Old Fashioned were life changing. Epic.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Brownstone. Beautiful venue and great service. Thoroughly recommend it. The elk meatloaf was divine.
I would give this 10 stars if I could. We had a birthday party last night. Patio was perfect. Service was perfect. Food was perfect. Timing was perfect. Drinks were perfect. Did I mention everything was perfect ?? Menu is perfect also. The food is delicious. The house cocktail is my new favorite! The wonderful lady showed me how to make it so I can make it at home.
Outstanding! One of the best in the city, by far!
Never disappoints. Friendly, professional staff with a great service attitude. Creativity from the kitchen is always show cased with fresh quality products. Easy on the pocketbook and operated locally. Great hospitality and greater memories
We unfortunately didnt have a reservation but they managed to accommodate us and I am thankful they were able to because the food was superb. Our servers were so polite and helpful and the ambience was lovely. The fresh herbs and hops were nice to see growing near our table.
Tried multiple times to book a reservation but their mailbox is full and they never answer their phone.
Went here for my hubbys birthday prior to Covid. One of the best dinner experiences Ive had. We will go back again.
Myself and my girlfriend came here tonight for our 3 year anniversary. Great service. Very cozy and welcoming environment. Amazing food. What a great place to go for a fine meal without crazy prices. Highly recommended!
My wife and I were surprised and pleased with this restaurant. The bartender was able to put together some brilliant mocktails. The food was perfect. It was an enjoyable experience all around.
First time visiting this restaurant and its hard to get a reservation for a reason! Food, drinks and service were excellent. We started with some cocktails, they were expertly made and delicious. Appetizers were the ceviche and escargot. The ceviche was pleasant, but the escargot was outstanding. Mains were elk meatloaf and smoked duck. Both dishes were well portioned, balanced flavors, and very tasty. Look forward to going back and exploring the menu further!
Weve been to the Brownstone quite a few times before, but this time we were going for a birthday dinner. We were really surprised they changed their decor to a stark white with bright lights. The ambiance and decor was always one of the main reasons we went there, but now I felt like I was in a cafeteria with bright lights shining in my eyes. I realize this is the trend but always felt the Brownstone stayed true to the heritage of the building. I liked it better before. I dont understand the social distancing of the tables. There seemed to be the same amount of tables but they were spaced out really weird. One small table was literally next to the door when you came in. The table blocked the adjoining door. The staff wore the plastic shields going halfway down their face, but no masks. The cooking staff did not wear masks. The waitress seemed a little scattered as she came to tell us the Dinner Specials AFTER we ordered our dinner... Say what???? Our food was a little sub-par, but not great. I expected more for the price. There never seems to be any variety in their menu. We did get complimentary champagne for my birthday at the end of the meal, which was great, and to be honest was my favourite part of the meal!! We always liked it in the past, but we WONT be back.......
Atmosphere, cocktails, wine, and food were all as expected. Most mains ranged from $20-$35 with appies and desserts on either end between $10 and $20 on average. Wines were pricy without an option for 1/2 or 1L decanters as all wines came from bottles; however there was quite a decent selection. Cocktails were exquisite and well priced between $10 and $15. Overall a pleasant experience.
Absolutely fantastic customer service! I had a very last minute and unique request to make a reservation remotely for 4 people for the same day. I am based in Calgary and the project team that i wanted to arrange dinner for due to a couple of the gentlemen being American and as they would be away for Thanksgiving day in America, i had to make remote payment arrangements on behalf of my company. Connie was absolutely amazing to deal with and she took all my details and ensured the team had a wonderful experience. I had excellent feedback from my team, so i thank you very much for making them feel so welcome and special!
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Kamloops. The food is creative, current, and always tasty. One of my favs for a fancy night out.
Always a great atmosphere with great tasting food and creative cocktails. The service is welcoming, prompt, and professional. A must go to in Kamloops!
My wife enjoyed her duck, and we both enjoyed our kombucha although served in a relatively small glass. But... things went badly wrong with my steak. I asked for rare but it was more like medium and definitely not medium rare. Minus one star. The steak was also very fatty to the point that I actually had to spit out what I was eating at one point. Cant remember this ever happening at another restaurant in the last 10 years. Minus one star. One of my tomatoes was burned / black on one side. Minus one star. Several of the potatoes were also burned and very chewy. Minus one star. When we asked for the bill I pointed out the issues and the server turned lippy and said it doesnt look like there was a problem because you ate nearly everything. Minus one star. I pointed out that we were in a hurry otherwise I would have sent it back. The lippy server said its not their fault if I didnt give them the chance to make things right. She charged me the full price for the sub par meal.
If you re looking for a nice dinner in Kamloops - this is your place
The vibe in this great vintage building was open, yet intimate. The service was perfect, and the food was excellent. I definitely will return to Brownstone, the next time I am staying in Kamloops.
Truly fine dinning. In Kamloops, there are a lot of pricey places. Few will hope to deliver on the big hopes those prices bring like Brownstone. Simply incredible.
Very good cuisine and excellent staff, very friendly
Great food and atmosphere. The wife and I will be back soon!
My wife and I have been coming to Brownstones for many years. We come for special occasions because this restaurant is amazing. 1st class fine dining. I m part of Air Canada as flight crew and eat around the world often. I m thrilled that Brownstones is in my backyard. Affordable not to mention the food is amazing, presentation, atmosphere etc. They have never disappointed. We look forward to our next visit. If your visiting Kamloops or even if you live here don t miss out on a wonderful dining experience. Peter Schlegel: Air Canada
Everyone at our table loved the dishes, they had fantastic and interesting sides that complemented the mains perfectly. Service was great as well! They sat me at the bar with no reservation since I was alone. Great food, but slow service. Im guessing because they were busy, but the food came out quick.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to any and all my friends. The atmosphere was amazing, service was fantastic, and the food was so wonderful! From our appies all the way to dessert, it was such a treat. Thank you to the amazing staff at Brownstone for such a wonderful dining experience.
This little place is a gem. Theyve got an exciting fresh menu, great service and a good wine list. The outside space is beautiful. This is the finest of fine dining in Kamloops.
Delicious ingredients
There site makes no indication that you need to make a reservation (which doesnt surprise me as it looks like it hasnt been updated in months). If you are ever considering this place, plan ahead as they are super small and only open for four hours each day.
The lamb was amazing!
We had a wonderful evening for a family dinner for five. All the appetizers where excellent especially the Escargot. The staff was efficient, friendly, and helpful. The meals were visually appealing and perfectly presented. The lamb and rabbit were superb. Altogether a wonderful experience!
Been here twice now and have never been let down! Would like to see more options added to the menu but overall this place Id awesome! I had the elk meatloaf (amazing!) And then the duck (even more amazing!) And their desserts are to die for! Yum!
The food was delicious.
We have been having our annual staff dinner here for years. I always look forward to the amazing food and drinks! The staff and service are excellent. Love the ambiance of the heritage building. Highly recommend!
We were passing through the city and chose here for the excellent ratings. Service was wonderful. Food was less good than we expected. Very fancy place.
First class. Loved the twists on favorites on the menu. Need to go back soon.
Went there for dinner had a very nice meal and very good service
By far the best caesar Ive had anywhere in town, elk meat loaf was amazing. Service was quick and friendly, server was attentive and was able to hold a relatable conversation.
Great evening!
I was blown away by the amazing service and the food was absolutely amazing. I have found my new favourite restaurant in Kamloops :)
Christmas party with my fiance, excellent service, excellent food, even with the fact that there were 15 of us in the party. Food was hot and flavourful, and a little bit exotic. Not everywhere serves duck or rabbit and gets it right. Our dinner was paid for, but next time we fo Im sure itll be so worth it.
