Terrible experience; will not be back…sushi was inedible. Sushi was excessively soaked in sauce; the sauce was pooled at the bottom of the container even and ruined all the other rolls (see photo). Plus the vegetable roll used raw yam, which is actually toxic to consume. When I brought this to their attention they said they always serve yam raw and told me it must be a special preference. Google it. Also tried to argue about the sauce and said I should have asked them to put on the side because it was a special preference. Clearly the sushi being drenched in sauce like that is not normal. Was told I would get a call back later to discuss but never got one; had to follow up and argue for a refund.
I've eaten here a few times and normally it's good. We were there around 4:30 pm and it wasn't busy. The gyoza was barely warm, the sushi was good. The service wasn't as good as it normally is. Once our food was dropped off, we never seen our server again.
Oh Sushi in Kamloops offers a great dining experience with delicious food. I especially enjoyed the seafood ramen bowl—it was flavorful, with fresh ingredients and a rich broth. I was really shocked today when I cam back to this place after one year. This was one of my top favourite places to get sushi in Kamloops but today’s service will make me not 100% sure to recommend this place. I came in on the Sep 27 which was yesterday around 7 pm for dinner. First of all the girl who was at the counter didn’t seem like she cared if the costumer has a good service or not. I wanted to dine in but wasn’t sure. I expected her to give us a table because I was some used tables with empty seats and expected her to tell us they have tables but instead she keeps on saying we will have to wait a while if we wanted to dine in and I told her it’s okay we will wait. And when the tables were clear she never let us know that we can go sit, I had to ask her like 3 times but she wasn’t focused on listening so we just went and took a seat. Second is the waitress who served us, we usually get the best and cute service her but today was different, the waitress seems so frustrated with her job and just doing everything to get over with. No smile on her face and no questions asked if the food was okay or if we need anything else. We had no soy sauce on the table either until I ask and she just grabbed it and put it on the table. I really can’t believe if i was eating in a proper restaurant paying for my own food or going to someone’s house and eating their food that they don’t want to give :)) Felt quite weird since I never experienced this kind of service before. The food was okay and it still warms my heart but I had better experience in sushi so it was just like something i made at home. The salmon was quite dry on the outside i don’t know why.
The sushi was fantastic. Honestly, some of the best sushi I've had in Kamloops. Especially the black tiger roll.. I could've had 10 of those. SO SO good. However, the service was not great. It seemed very unorganized as in it didn't seem like there were proper sections assigned and my family and I weren't ever checked on through the meal to see if we needed anything else. The girls who did check in on us were wonderful and efficient but there is definitely room for improvement overall.

Took my friend from Ontario for her first time, we were both pleasantly surprised to see the robot bring us our rolls, every item was delicious and we ordered quite a few things, highlights for me was the gomae, las vegas roll, and the chicken yakisoba.
I ordered the chirashi don bowl. The sashimi was INCREDIBLE!! They have the cutest little robot server there, it was fun. The service was fast and efficient. I also had some gyoza, it was good. Everyone seemed really pleased with their meals. If I'm back in Kamloops, I'll absolutely eat here again.

Ordered pickup for 625 nove 2nd arrived at 625 was ignored by the waitress until 641. Food was sitting on the counter dying the whole time. Waitress was more interested in the groups that walked in behind me. No discount on the now dead food dont think ill be back, there was several take out orders dying on the pass while customers waited to pay
I had lunch here once 10 years ago when I worked at the home Depot nearby as a university student in Kamloops. Was pretty good

Wow I dont know what happened to this great place but its obvious its new owners that dont care. The service was from anew lady and another staff that were not personable at all and acted very lazy to do anything. Weve been coming here since we moved to Kamloops 4yrs ago and it was always amazing and close to Vancouver standard sushi. But not anymore. We ordered rolls we have always ordered and sashimi. The rolls tasted bland and fishy if that makes sense? One of the Las Vegas rolls was cut in half and next to no wasabi in anything. The whole order was blah and not close to the quality it used to be. Either they sold to owners with not the same standards or hired awful staff and chefs. Really disappointed and wont be going back.
Usually my favorite place to go but when I went on July 29th my food was gross, the waitress didn t care to stop at our table and forgot some of our food. Definitely won t be coming back for awhile.

Great menu selections. Fair pricing and very quaint atmosphere. Any rush hour or busy times expect to wait for service. The servers are overworked and understaffed. This usually means everyones orders arrive at different times. You wait for beverages and getting refills can take some time.

**UPDATE June 2024** its been a year since we were here. Came in today at 3:30. Only 2 other small tables occupied. What happened???? Fabric covered Menus are ragged and torn, never saw our waitress again after she brought our food so no drink refills or dessert or extra wasabi etc. Table was all sticky. Floors were very dirty and baseboards really filthy BUT the worst were the WALLS! The sun was coming through the windows and the amount of spills and food you could see on the walls was GROSS! My husband said Oh my God don t lean back I looked behind me and it looked like 1/2 a bottle of soy sauce had exploded all over the wall where I was. No one came to clean our dishes, ask us how things were or bring us a bill. We waited 20 mins and went up to pay. Front glass entrance doors were covered in fingerprints and grime. Windows filthy. Our food was average my tempura fish were disgusting as the 2 puny pieces were the thickness of my ring finger and were bloodline cuts with skin attached. Sunomono and miso were excellent and tempura was good although broccoli was all raw batter in the middle. What the heck happened Oh Sushi Mura???? Review from 2021 & 2022: Quite possibly the best Japanese meals we ve ever had....and we have travelled through over 60 countries between the 4 of us and eaten a LOT of high end Japanese cuisine. The tuna tataki was so fresh and flavourful with its slices of lemon and grated radish, the sushi rolls fresh, large, and unique, ebi sunomono salads were excellent, miso delicious, chicken teriyaki bento boxes were double the size of a normal box and full of beautifully arranged fresh fruit, salad with a great dressing, spring roll, juicy chicken, and vegetables, fresh cherry tomatoes, etc etc. I had the a la carte Tofu Teriyaki and it was huge and AMAZING!!!!!!! Toasted green tea was perfect. Have also had other bento boxes and they are amazing. We cannot wait to come back. Pricing is excellent....much cheaper than Vancouver or other big cities. Super clean, bright and modern restaurant with very happy efficient staff. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

I wouldnt recommend Sushi Mura to anyone. We went there for an early dinner yesterday, and the presentation of the food was terrible and unappealing. The food itself was equally bad mediocre and tasteless.

This is Oh Sushi Mura NOT Sushi Mura that you find in Vancouver. The restaurant is located by Thompson Rivers University. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly hostess and server. We received our food menu but were left wondering if they served alcohol at all. I was craving some sake and my friends were craving some beer. The waitress eventually gave us a menu after we asked. The restaurant seemed to be busy or short staffed as some tables were not cleared. A pretty cherry blossom table was available. After we received our drinks we ordered our food. Our appetizers and miso soup came quickly. We were given someone else s Tuna and Salmon don by mistake. It did look yummy. The karaage chicken was good. We did not notice the dipping sauce on the plate until the last pieces. Some how the sauce blended in with the plate. The miso soup was not hot and lacked flavour. I have had better in Kamloops. The vegetable tempura was ok. The veggies could have been cut better and nicer. My buddy enjoyed his udon. The negitoro roll was good as was the spicy tuna roll. The chirashi don was yummy. The size of the cuts were good but could have been cut nicer for presentation. It looked almost amateurish? Would I come here again. Yes. It is worth checking out in Kamloops.

i ve been frequenting this establishment for the past 7 years and it has definitely slipped. The meticulousness care that used to be given to presentation and quality is not what it was. I m not sure if it s a covid hangover or change in ownership but it s certainly not the high calibre it once was. Lastly my last 3 visits with three other guests our meals all came out at separate times .some 10 minutes apart Oh I long for a return to the high standards they once provided.

It is very consistent and reasonably priced. There are lots of options for everyone. They even have a server robot that brings your order right to your table. Lots of fun for everyone. We will definitely be back.

This was my first time at Sushi Mura, but I have had sushi, sashimi and nigiri multiple times before from other places in Canada as well other parts of the world. But this is the first time ever that I ve gotten food poisoning from eating sushi/nigiri. I called the restaurant to tell them about my experience and two members of the team tried to look for faults in me such as - oh you ve probably never had raw fish before / are you sure you ve eaten sushi before you must be feeling like this because of something else you ate , etc. It was super frustrating and disappointing that customer service has come to this where they have to blame customers to justify themselves. Never coming back here!

My daughter ordered the Korean ribs which arrived fatty beyond. Then she ordered the chicken yakisoba which was undercooked. Then we were expected to pay.. Then the cashier was absolutely rude beyond! Ive eaten here many times and never have I ever been So fidda Food : 1/5

I used to go there for the bibimbap, as their sauce was always so good an spicy. They took it out of the menu and I havent been back until today hoping maybe it was back. I tried something different on the menu and it was okay, it is a great place for sushi with lots of options.

Only ordered the salmon sashimi. Unfortunately, the salmon was tough, stringy, and tasted a bit off. While the presentation and decor were creative and aesthetic, and the service was pleasant, the radio talk show playing on the speakers louder-than-usual marred the experience further.

Such a fun place! The food is great, and the environment is unique! The kids loved being served by a robot cat, and we thought it was pretty neat too :)
Service, cleanliness, and food quality were poor. We had to keep going up to the counter to ask for menus, to order, to ask for the bill, and to pay. Despite only ordering veggie rolls, my plate was greasy as if it hadnt been washed or it was carried to me with a greasy thumb on the plate. My rolls were bland compared to other sushi restaurants where Ive ordered the same rolls. My boyfriend did really like his Philadelphia roll though, so that was positive. We also realized that they didnt give us our student discount after we had asked for it, but we had already left the restaurant. We wont be back. Arigato and Sushi Plus are far more enjoyable, especially for the price. Dietary restrictions: Nothing is labeled gluten free or vegan/vegetarian, but there were a few options. Less here than at any other sushi place in town that I recall.
Nice place. Robot cat server is neat and quick. Food arrived quick. However it tried the Las Vegas roll based on another positive review and it was soggy (mostly on the inside despite how the photo looks) and the BC roll was really dry, almost like the flaked tuna or salmon you get from a can. Both were kind of bland. First time ever I ve sent back sushi. Tastebuds were fine as the miso was good. My wife enjoyed her veggies rolls though.
We love going here. We live outside of Kamloops but come in to shop and this is our regular stop. Food is always amazing, hot and fresh. Neither of us has ever ordered anything that wasn t excellent and we ve tried lots of the menu! Kid-friendliness: We always take our baby and never have any issues :)

As a former server/bartender it takes a LOT for me to ever leave a bad review. However, I had a terrible experience at this place last night. We sat down to order, and our server came over - asked my partner for his order, which included the appy for us and his dinner order, and then turned and began to walk away without even looking at me to ask for my food order - I had to ask him to come back as I hadnt ordered anything yet. We had asked for two Sapporos to start off, plus miso soups, and then our dinner order. 5 or 10 minutes went by and we didnt have our Sapporos - then our server stopped by to ask if wed like them in a glass or in the bottle. We said a glass would be great. Dinner came out next, with the appetizers mixed in. Not a big deal, I know sometimes this happens. However, still no miso soup. We were halfway through dinner when our server came back to confirm, again, if we wanted our Sapporo in a glass or bottle. 10 minutes later, nothing on either the miso soup or beer fronts - we were basically done dinner at this point. I had a bit of leftovers, so we asked for a to go bowl and packed my dinner up and went to the front to pay. Ill add here that our server did not come back once throughout our meal to check on food quality, or if wed received our beers or needed anything else. Anyways, we let the servers know we had never received some of the items we ordered, and then immediately had to ask them to correct the bill as they still included those items. Overall super disappointing and underwhelming especially since Ive eaten here before and the food and service was decent..Not sure what has gone downhill but this place definitely needs to focus on service. I didnt feel that anything about last evenings service was deserving of a tip. Do better.

Favourite sushi restaurant in Kamloops for my family and myself. Friendly owner and staffs. Love the service, delicious foods and well priced. I enjoy their lunch box a, chicken teriyaki, udon, and nigiri sushi along with some of their rolls.

Absolutely love this place. It was where my mom and I used to go for lunch/dinner all the time, when I lived here. I moved away 6 years ago, and when I found myself in kamloops again for a visit. Oishi! Amazing sushi here! Authentic Sushi Masters here who take a lot of pride in their work! A blend of skill and creativity and bang for buck makes this restaurant a definite A-lister. Its like a little part of Japan in Canada. A blend of Tokyo and Seoul makes the dining experience really Asia-authentic (except with mayo)

We were looking for a sushi restaurant on our way through town. Menu looked pretty typical, we ordered two dinner Bento Boxes... omg so much food! Incredible value, super fresh, and very tasty. The restaurant also has one of those delivery robots running orders, although it didnt deliver to our table it did deliver next to us. Very clean, clean washroom, ample parking. Overall great experience.

We got to sit under the big tree which was lovely. The staff were super nice and friendly! I got the spicy beef yakisoba and my spouse for Dinner Bento A - it came with so much we probably could have split it and both been full. Really good prices, nice decor, and in a good central location. It was my first time here and I will definitely be back!
Second time we went to this place and walked out. First time we were left standing at the counter until we left because no one would seat us. Went up the hill to another sushi house and had a good meal. Tried again this evening to eat here. Got their at 845 pm with a 9:30 closing. They told us we could have take out but could not dine in. Walked out again!!!! Forever this time!!!!

Even though this restaurant was open for another hour, and there were several people sitting down eating, we were told by the rude waitress that there was no dining in, yet the people behind us were able to get a seat. We were not dressed inappropriately, we were told take out only. We left as I refused to give them our business after such disrespect.

Every time I come to Kamloops I HAVE to eat here. The rolls are DECEDENT! This is going to sound odd but.... my favorite thing on the menu is actually a salad! The Crab stick salad has the most amazing dressing. Its sort of like a plum sauce dressing but well balanced with vinegar. Highly suggest if you are into very elaborate and interesting items!

Sushi is so good but it might be best to order out at the moment to avoid wait times. They are short staffed as most places are currently, but the waiters would walk by without even checking in. The food was fast and we finished our meal in maybe 20 minutes but we were there for over 1.5 hours just waiting for service.

They don t have a spicy level but as for myself who loves spicy foods, their standard of spicy is relatively crazy. Sushi is good. Acceptable. Beef teriyaki is super duper in terms of flavour and portion.
They have a kitty robot server my daughter loves! The real servers are also nice, and the food is fresh. Need I not mention the cherry blossom tree?!
Tried Gyoza Nabe and it was very flavourful and delicious and the Takoyaki is always amazing. Service is outstanding will be back!
One of the best Japanese restaurant in kamloop. Sushi is fresh and the menu has good variety of choices. Big and clean place. I like eating here.

This is close to my work so I frequent this place often. The food and staff are always great. Today I met with some friends for lunch and they have THE most adorable robotic tray with a kitty face that can delivery your food to your table. Suuuuuper neat and what a unique addition!
Please learn to pack the takeout. You put my Chicken Teriyaki on top of my Cali Roll container and the Chicken Teriyaki sauce leaked everywhere in the bag. What a mess.
Good place to get a descent sushi and good place to have a night out. I have tried food at all times of the day. Consistent taste all throughout. On con : too much oil in fries items sometimes greasy.
Rolls falling apart and sloppy. Ordered a roll that had cooked tuna on top - was canned tuna so nasty. Calamari so touch not really edible.
Idk if there staff taste their food, all the dishes were very sweet!!Chirashi bowl was with steaming hot rice with a lot of added sugar and vinegar. With the hot rice it s like eating someone s stinky feet. I m never going back.
The best place for Sushi in Kamloops. Would recommend over other sushi places out here till now. I have tried food many time during both lunch and dinner and it was pretty good and taste remained consistent.
