Mediocre food, and the waitress was pretty snippy with us.. Dont think I would go back.

Ok good. I and my partner felt stomach sick. Not sure it was from the breakfast we had.

I tried to get some breakfast with my family this Sunday morning from this diner. We were a group of 11 with 5 seniors and 2 kids. We were waiting there for at least 20 mins and the staff did not even acknowledge our presence. More people were gathering in line and when there were about 30 people one waitress came and said that we will be seated shortly. One of the waitresses was seating smaller groups and she said, and i quote i dont know who is next, fight between each other and sit. Another 10 mins passed by and they said that we can finally sit. When we reached the table one extremely rude waitress (the one with the ridiculous comment above) told us to go back. After that we just decided to go to another diner and while leaving the staff continued to be unprofessional and rude. I understand that it was during Sunday rush and it was understaffed but the service was extremely unprofessional. I will never go there again.

Lovely dinner, good menu options to choose. Warm service, definitely will come back there.

Breakfast was good(took 20min to prep simple dishes and there were only 2-3 small groups of customers, not busy ) but they forgot a third of my food (1x bacon, 1x sausage, 1x egg) and also forgot my GF s carp for Salmon dish, we had to ask twice for our remaining items. We still tipped 15% but well never go there again. Do not recommend

Meatloaf was tasteless and dry vegetables were cold and under cooked the only good thing was the waitress

If I could give this place a 0 scar rating I would..This morning my family and I wanted to try out this place for the first time. Today was the civic holiday Monday and they only had 3 servers. The place wasn t too full but the servers mad it apparently that they were busy and needed an extra server. The two servers we had interactions with were extremely short with us and were rude. The food came out mediocre at best and our order wasn t right. When we brought it to the server s attention we got a short response and nothing was done to fix it. This place had great reviews but sadly did not live up to expectations. I will never be returning and wanted to put the warning out there.

Bathrooms are unclean

This diner is a step back in time just as expected. Breakfast is consistently satisfying.

Eggs were cold once I got them, poutine quality very under expectation, charged 5 dollars extra for a portion to feed a baby. Ordered from here a couple of times but this time not impressed, do better.

The strawberry milkshake tasted like the strawberry powders I remember from childhood and not in a good way, the cream and whipped cream in our coconut cream pie were fake and the whipped cream was oily. My smoked salmon omelette was ok, could have used some capers and onions. My husband thought his liver and onions was ok but given the price tag, the food was not worth it. The service was excellent. The atmosphere gets a 3 because except for 1 other person there were no customers and it was after 6.

I love this place. The food is alright but the service, the music, and the atmosphere are great! Always a great place to stop and catch up with friends over a burger and a shake.

Quality of food - low. Cleanliness - low. Check out the dust on the car hung on the wall or light fixtures next time you are in. Or the gum under the tables. Manager - rude. Wait staff are great. Hope manager doesn t speak to his staff like he speaks to customers.

Great spot for breakfast

We had a Birthday brunch for Brother in law and my Daughter. Family of 13. Had reserved a few tables. Great atmostphere, fun 50s diner. Had exciting songs from that time play while you sit and wait. Great old timey pics of celebrities from old Hollywood, Elvis, Marilyn Manroe, James Dean, old jute box jams. They have classics like shakes, burgers fries typical diner fare. And of course all day breakfast. Great homefries, french toast was fantastic! I had The Ulitimate Breakfast, two eggs, two bacon, two ham and two french toast with homefries. Also comes with extra toast like three pieces. Its alot..lol needless to say I was hungry. Server was polite and friendly. Would recommend for a great breakfast place. Great size dish for the price. Will be back!

When walked in you can smell the Javex they were using to clean the tables. That shouldnt have happened at all .The food wasnt to our expectation at all and the portions. My kid got sick after eating there. Definitely not making a trip back there. Theres something about the food and atmosphere didnt feel rite.

Food was just average and, may I say, a bit overpriced. My wife ordered the Belgian Waffle ($13.99) and she got a waffle, butter and syrup. That was her first time ordering waffles, and regretted it. Its not that it tastes bad, it was average. Not worth the $14 we paid for it. I had the BELT which was Ok. The home fries didnt fare well either. Tasted like the store bought ones. Nothing homey about it. Sorry.

We stopped by after some all night SAR training for breakfast. Our server was beyond amazing. Food was amazing and totally hot the spot.

Great place to bring the kids

We ordered a Spanish Omelette, but what we got was quite different. The dish was essentially an plain omelette encasing cold vegetables. It seemed as though the omelette was cooked first and then filled with cold, boiled veggies, making for an unusual combination - definitely not a Spanish Omelette.. Also, the scrambled eggs seemed like they were originally an omelette, which was later chopped up to look like a scrambled eggs, instead of being freshly prepared. furthermore, I was surprised to be charged $3.5 for a half-cup coffee refill, which I assumed was complimentary. The ambiance was pleasant, which merits at least a star. Pictures are self explanatory.

Great family friendly place, went on family day 2024 with my 3 wonderful girls. Food was good wait staff were awesome. We will go again.

I love this place! I came in Saturday 11 am it s semi busy, my server is amazing she was able to communicate with the kitchen well. I asked for a neat omelette and it was delivered. So thank you to the cook for making my request you hit it bang on! And to the server who went beyond to get it done!

As always, this cozy 50s themed diner never disappoints. Food is amazing and, more importantly, consistent. Service is always and beyond the call. The staff is clearly happy to be there, which is in line with a top-notch 5 star eatery!

Great breakfast diner!

Went to Rockin Johnnys with my husband and daughter for lunch. Always love going there for the atmosphere and great music . The food was amazing. I just would have liked a refill on my drink. The server asked me if I wanted one, but I guess that with the restaurant being so busy, they forgot. Would definitely go back for sure.

So heres the thing we paid $55 for two of us to have a mediocre breakfast. $3.50 for one cup of coffee just isnt acceptable. My veggie omelet was paper thin and wrapped around the vegetables like a burrito and my sausages were clearly from a warming container because they were not hot. Your price is way out of line with your quality. We wont be back to this absolute disappointment of a restaurant. Horrible. Server was absolutely lovely.

Only go here if you want under cool food and bad service

I ordered a banana split waffle, the waffle wasnt even cooked all the way through, it was raw in the middle. Fruit was canned instead of fresh. Incredibly disappointing. Definitely do not recommend. When we told the waitress about the waffle she told me it was cooked because it looked cooked on the outside. It was raw. And I will never go back.

I like to support local businesses but sadly I found the breakfast here was mediocre at best, over-priced, and we had poor service. When you have to ask four times for a coffee refill and end up chasing down another server to help you, well, not impressed.

Food was ok at best, overpriced for what it was. I was charged $5 to upgrade my fries to a poutine. Turns out they give you a tiny poutine with barely any sauce or cheese. Not impressed. Restaurant was freezing cold.

Love love love the Westgate location but it now closes at 4 pm. Decided to order from this diner instead as they re the same. Very disappointed in the food quality. Home fries severely undercooked and my over easy eggs are over cooked, I can t even sip my toast in them. This may be the Uber drivers fault but upon opening my take out box, everything was together on one side like the box was held vertically instead of horizontally

Diner are a dying breed in a world of franchises and ubereats. It is sad because they are a part of North American culture. It is always refreshing to see when one is still busy with good food. Went there for breakfast. Breakfast was pretty expensive but thats more just an ottawa thing then it is the restaurants fault. Food was delicious, but then again breakfast is just one of those things most places cant mess up, with the exception of the Belgian waffle which to their credit was made in house but honestly felt as though they used pancake batter so personally Id just take it off the menu. Decore was pretty cool, nice vintage cars on the walls. Server was a sweet old lady but she did seems to take better care of the usuals which didnt feel very welcoming.

Server definitely was hustling hard to get everyone well taken care of so we had less interaction than typical, but that doesnt mean it was bad at all.

I was surprised that this place left me underwhelmed- it has such an awesome vibe and equally good reviews otherwise. I went in a busy Sunday afternoon and just by myself- perhaps that may have contributed to my overall experience as larger groups clearly needed more attention. I went for the veggie omelette without mushrooms but it wasn t so great. It only had red peppers as veggies and was almost sweet to taste. Service was awfully slow, my omelette arrived after 35 minutes. 2 small things that i did not like: 1. The server kept approaching me from behind when speaking to me. She should have faced me while talking to me, that was very annoying 2. They did not serve me water or ask for a drink order. She asked if i will have coffee and i said yes but she should definitely have offered water

Came in with a friend for an early morning treat. I got the western omelette, it was a bit over salted but still good. The atmosphere was nice for talking, and the waitresses were very polite. Definitely would go again.

Very decent local diner with all-day breakfast. We went there on a Saturday morning, around 9am, and it was packed (which is always a good sign). They have all the standard breakfast items on the menu, and the food was very good. I found their coffee just okay (too weak to my taste), but everything else was great. Great service, too. I ll definitely be coming back.

The burger I ordered had perfectly done bacon, and the patty was tender. The onion rings were ok, but probably not fried long enough because it was in between crispy and soggy. Taste-wise, it was fine. The server was super friendly and attentive. I would not hesitate to go back again.

Came here for a breakfast and was totally disappointed in omelet, it was tiny itself with twice as much potatoes, or toasts that I didn t touch at all. If you hate vegetables this is a place for you.

The service was... Not good. My work and I come here a few times a year because she has family in the area. When we get served by one waitress in particular shes always in a sour mood. This time was particularly bad. She dropped toast in my drink and didnt offer to replace it until after she came back. It didnt really feel good after we left. The food is great. The restaurant is very clean. Love the atmosphere. But that one waitress is a problem...

Went with my family for breakfast this morning and ordered the California omelette. It was raw in the inside - goopy uncooked egg was oozing out and it was just gross. Our waitress didn t charge us for the omelette and was honestly very sweet and doing her best - they seemed short staffed and she was serving a lot of tables by herself. Although my family s food was cooked, it was bland and very underwhelming. Too bad as this place used to be awesome.

Prices are getting ridiculous for food! A simple plate of bacon, eggs, toast, and hashbrowns was $14+ tax. Food quality was standard fare, nothing to write home about. Service was great, very friendly, attentive staff Atmosphere was a little tired - I know that this is part of the kitsch appeal of this franchise, but it looked like this location could use a spruce up and a bit more personality vs the same old Marilyn/Elvis art and memorabilia thats at all these places.

Went early with a friend to restaurant to have breakfast and get an early start to our shopping at Tangers Outlet. My plate of omelet with home fries and rye toast was very well proportioned and didnt feel stuffed. The food was good and well cooked. When we sat down, the restaurant was quite empty and filled up fast. By 9:45 am it was packed. Our waitress quickly became overwhelmed and we had a hard time getting her attention to bring us the bill so after 18 min we simply got up and went to the cash.

There was barley any flavor to the food, I had a burger and it was a hot mess the poutine was so small and they charged me an extra $4 when I saw it I laughed. It took forever to even get the food and it wasnt busy there was about 3 other groups. Not impressed and definitely will not be returning.

Our favourite place for eating out for breakfast has always been Rockin Johnny s in Kanata. We don t get out there as often as we used to. This morning we ventured out for a couple family errands this weekend. So thought it was a great time to go out for breakfast. The place was packed. Hard to find parking. But there was a couple of tables available. Pros: 1) All day breakfast!! 2) Warm, attentive and friendly staff. 3) Great variety of options on the menu. Including healthier and gluten free options. 4) Fantastic food - though I noticed their home fries are different to what they always used to be. Their home fries before were very addictive. 5) Very clean - the staff is very quick to wipe down and clean the tables and chairs as customers leave. This was already common practice before covid. 6) love the old timey pictures and music. The music isn t too loud. You can still hear and talk to those around you and the staff. Cons: 1) Parking - the restaurant is in a mini shopping Center so the parking lot is large, but it s always full before lunch. 2) One of my children s feedback was that their eggs were cold. They had ordered Ultimate meal which includes eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, home fries and 2 pancakes. So I had to reduce a star based on this. 3) There is typically a line up to even get a table. But well worth it. Today there was no line but we had to wait almost an hour for our food. Yet others that got here after us, got their food before we did. So I reduced a star based on this. 4) Changed the potatoes (home fries) I guess you can tell by now I miss the potatoes. 5) $90 for breakfast for 4. We miss when you could get a breakfast for us under $50.

Mediocre breakfast - breakfast for 2 was $50. French toast was terrible. Syrup was flavourless and watery. No coffee refill offered, no water brought despite requesting it and having nothing to drink with our breakfast (45 min wait for food so my daughters apple juice and my black coffee were long gone by the time food arrived). I get that the restaurant was busy and they are likely short staffed but the limited service we did receive was poor and the food sucked. I should have just got McDs drive through and saved time, money and had better food.

I d love to give this restaurant more stars but I was disappointed with my experience. we were seated quickly, the restaurant seemed busy for a Saturday morning. This was my first time trying it out, I wasn t feeling the bests energy for the server which killed the mood a bit. Once we ordered, the food came rarely quickly. I have to say for the amount paid on food I was expecting better quality. I ordered a breakfast poutine and it felt like just a bowl of potatoes, I feel like it could have at least had some green for garnish or spices to elevate the dish. i don t think I ll be trying this spot again unfortunately, maybe it was an off day

Dont go for a lunch time meal at noon as they are still serving breakfast

Rockin Johnnys is way overpriced for breakfast. Coffee was NOT included in a 20 dollar breakfast item. Spent 70 dollars to dine in with family. Service was barely adequate and the server tried to charge extra for something that was included in a kids meal. If youre going for breakfast go to The Burbs just down the street.

Was a cute little place with great older generational music. Service was not bad . For not being too busy they servers were always walking around. Good came out very hot and very delicious. Next time I m here I would eat there again. My only request is more selection for the soup of the day and daily specials (chicken wrap special was the same price as in the menu).

Like normal, kinda pricey, $14.00 for basic breakfast plus coffee. $1.00 extra for rye toast, give me a break. Home fries were deep fried although the menu shows the as cooked on the grill.

They were busy but I got a seat at the bar pretty quickly. Guy serving me was hopeless. Took my order and the food came out nice and fast, but then the guy disappeared. Didnt offer me any more coffee. When I was done I sat there for about 10 minutes with the empty plates, which someone else took away, and then I waited. And waited. And waited. About 20 minutes later, and only when I put some cash on the bar and went to leave did the guy reappear so I could pay.

The food is tasty and about what you would expect for the price. The staff are friendly. Food arrived pretty quick too. The restaurant was still quite full when we arrived and still had people arriving when we were leaving. Wheelchair accessibility: It was a bit tight but there was enough room to move around inside the restaurant. The outside ramp for the curb was blocked by cars though so getting to the front door was a bit of a detour.

We stopped for lunch yesterday (Saturday, November 12, 2022). My husband ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap w/fries and I ordered a traditional clubhouse w/fries. A little disappointed with serving portions. Meal was average. The actual reason Im giving 5 stars is because of what happened after our bill was settled. The waitress (I didnt gey her name) was finishing our bill when an elderly gentleman came through the door. He had some mobility issues. He must have been in the restaurant earlier because the waitress helped him in the door and offered him a chair & then she asked if he missed his taxi. The gentleman said he thought he saw it but it drove away. She looked out the window and noticed a taxi at the gas station across from the restaurant. She said it must be his. She asked if he was able to walk to the taxi but the man admitted it was quite far for him to walk. As she finished our transaction, she offered to go and get the taxi to come closer to the door. She went out the door, across the parking lot, chatted to the taxi driver and then came back. She explained to the man that the taxi was just turning around to come pick him up. She said that it wasnt the taxi he called, but the driver was happy to take the fare. Then she helped the man into the taxi. I cant believe how helpful, polite and concerned the waitress was for the gentleman. It was such a random act of kindness and it was so nice to see people helping each other. I will be back for another visit because this level of caring should be supported and celebrated! Heres a pic of my clubhouse, which upon reflection was pretty good!

Arrived just after 12:50. Asked for a specific booth, was told thats for 4 people ( we were only 2) and were sat at a tiny booth, no apologies Ok, understandable I guess. We looked over the menu for 10 min. No one came over. People were served ( mostly getting checks and clearing plates) on either side of us. Many servers on the floor, restocking, setting up tables as the place emptied. Still no one came over, we didnt even get coffee. Left after 17 min. Very disappointing experience. Im really hungry.

Expensive for small eggs

Its a very cute, retro themed diner. Our first time going there, we were seated very quickly by an extraordinarily kind waitress. We ordered and the food came incredibly quick. Thats where all the greatness ended. My husband and I had your very basic Canadian breakfast; eggs, meat, toast, and I got an order of pancakes. The eggs seemed almost rubber? I have a slight suspicion the pancakes were frozen before, and the meat was cooked to the bare minimum. We ended up paying over $50 for a breakfast we maybe took 3 bites of.

Went for breakfast. Seated quickly. Waitress was friendly and tended to us right away. The food was not a long wait and the waitress checked in to make sure we were happy and didnt need anything else. Very polite. Overall the lovely waitress named joann made our day. Thanks!
