I frequent morning owl cafes across the city. I m always very pleased. Today I was surprised to see sit down breakfast options. I ordered the owl breakfast for me and the kids owl breakfast for my 2 year old. I asked for my 2 year olds eggs to be well done and they weren t - fine, I ate them instead. However, my sunny side eggs had runny egg whites. You re supposed to cover sunny side up so the egg whites cook and the yolk is nice and runny. The texture was so gross. I brought our plates to the server and told her my concerns. She didn t say much of anything so I just left. Edit: Yes, you did offer to redo it, but as I said when I arrived I am short of time and wasnt able to stay for it to be redone. That is why I declined. Since I was honest with my time when ordering I should have been offered a refund. The resolution was disappointing, I ll stick to their Manotick and downtown locations moving forward.

Great coffee, brunch place in the midst of new apartment buildings in Kanata. Very clean with evidence of strict adherence to food safe practices. Yummy healthy choices for the sweet and savory toothed fans. Highly recommend!

Morning Owl is a lovely neighborhood coffee shop, and for the most part the staff are friendly, and the coffee is delicious. One thing that does stand out is one staff member who has consistently been rude and uninviting to me (a paying customer and regular over the last year+), other customers, as well as her colleagues. At first, I thought maybe she s having a bad day everyone has one. But no, EVERYTIME I go in there and interact with her, I feel like I ve bothered her and that me ordering was an inconvenience. Today s interaction was no different when she handed me my coffee and I politely asked for the steamed oat milk that was missing. In front of a busy café, she rudely tells me that oat milk is extra, yells to the woman on cash (who apparently forgot to add it), then came back to me as if I was trying to sneak free milk. No biggie, people make mistakes. Lisa (that s her name) then looks at me annoyed, groans and begrudgingly steams the milk as she lectures me about how next time I have to pay. I always pay for extra non-dairy milk, and she s served me many times. The rudeness is such a turn off. Too bad, because at this point, I m avoiding this café if I see her in the window. I hope management does something.

Terrible latte, tasted like Tim Hortons. Egg sandwhich was cold inside. No barista attending the machine and the atmosphere was dull and cold. Total waste of money.

DO NOT ORDER ON UBER EATS OR ANY DELIVERY SERVICE. I used to order from this place every week even a couple times a week and the food has always been good. About two weeks ago I placed an order on Uber eats and waited over an hour for my food with multiple drivers canceling and directing me to a new driver. Over a half hour later, one of the drivers messaged me and had told me that my order was picked up by someone else and now they have to make a new one. After waiting 2 hours for my food it finally arrived. Fast forward to today, I placed my order 45 minutes ago. As I m watching 3 different drivers cancel with my order I m thinking wow really this is happening again I call the restaurant and they Told me oh sorry another Uber driver took your order , I can hear one of the staff saying I thought the Uber driver that came in knew what bag to take so they re carelessly letting people walk into the restaurant and take other people s orders. I ll never order from here again there is no reason why I m paying 50$ for breakfast for one person and having to wait almost 2 hours.

Food was alright. There was no real service except them bringing your food to you. Its a good space for hanging out and catching up while grabbing a bite to eat.

We eat breakfast here often as the breakfast is fresh, the lattes are excellent (plain coffee not so much) & the menu selections are vast & made in-house. Meal quality is consistent. When you order cooked medium eggs, that s exactly what you get. Arrive early to get seating & close street parking. This place is not inexpensive. Breakfast for 2 people, with latte s exceeded $52.00 so if you re on a budget, choose wisely. If there is one area they could improve upon is the cutlery. They use the cheapest, chintziest cutlery I have ever experienced for the price you pay. It mares the whole dining experience (for me) knowing they went all out & then cheaped (sp?) out on dollar store quality cutlery. Parking: Street parking only. You do have limited choices on where to park.

Located at a very odd area of the town, this establishment is worth visiting. Very spacious with seating to enjoy breakfast on a patio. Informal with true street corner style appearance.

I came on the suggestion of someone to find a nice place to hole up and write for a bit... it was a mixed bag. I search for hard to find places in the burbs just for a little inspiration and good coffee. I was told they ran out of cream yesterday because it was busy... at 11 am next business day... in a world of food delivery services... OK... Food? Expensive for what you get, the service was fast but felt like I was bothering the cashier who left me to find out there is no cream from the barista. There are better places out here with better ambiance. Good coffee will stand on its own with just milk. Not the case here. Ambiance? Industrial.

Perfect location to meet up with an old friend over coffee. Had a lovely chocolate milkshake like concoction that the sweet barista just made up as I mentioned what I was looking for in a beverage that morning. It was delicious. Enjoyed a nice croissant although I was surprised it wasnt heated up.

2024 update. Thought I would give this place another try. First occasion the coffee was excellent - I think prepared by the male barista who has been there for years. Unfortunately this good experience had me believing things had improved. On my return visit a week later I ordered a flat white that in addition to being dangerously hot was no better than Circle K quality. Clearly consistency and training are lacking. Ill wait another couple of years before I even think of returning. 2022 update. This place has gone from excellent, although pricey to barely average while still pricey. Staffing seems to have undergone big changes and many of the excellent servers have left. Used to always go here regularly but better places have opened up so no compelling reason to return 2018 Great atmosphere, very good coffee. Very nice freshly baked pastries. Also serves beer and wine. Live music and dinner on Thursday nights.Recommended. Muy bueno ambiente. Rico café y pasteles. Muy buenas chelas

Fits the cute cafe so theres that. Its a little out of the way, and parking is street-only and terrible. Drinks are tiny and everything is overpriced. But, prices are bad almost everywhere. Try it for something different, but doubtful to be a go-to place even if you live in the area. When the weather clears up, the outside will look nice. Check the hours, because the close at 4 on Sundays. Tables will be limited the whole day, and outside isnt great while its still cold now in April

Love this place, we come here often. Last visit super fast service, even though place was full. Food is always interesting and staff is friendly. Wish it was better kept secret :-)

Baristas here are the best! Service is always speedy no matter how busy they seem to be.

Food was decent overall. Service was incredibly slow. Took about 5 minutes to get breakfast sandwiches heated up from the time of ordering. Coffees took 25 minutes to get. The restaurant was about half full when we were ordered. Would not recommend unfortunately.

The person taking my order didn t seem to know what a Pour Over was. A different person made it. It took 20 minutes to get a cold, 2/3 full take out cup. Not happy!

Good coffee, amazing breakfast. I had the avocado smash on hash. She had eggs Benny. Both were fantastic. Eggs were perfectly poached, everything was well seasoned, and the hollandaise was particularly good.

Waited 15 mins for a single macchiato and it ended up being something that is not an espresso macchiato. Almost a latte macchiato, but not quite.

Sat down at a dirty table, ordered two coffees, received one, waited a while and asked if the other coffee was coming, they said it was being made, after I finished my coffee, someone came over because the number was still on our table and asked if we were waiting for something, then we got the 2nd coffee. Went to the washroom, toilet base is broke in two. Terrible experience.

Weve had two deliveries and one in-person experience and its officially my favourite local breakfast place.

The service was incredibly and unreasonably slow, and that was just standing at the counter waiting to order. My cappuccino came with no sugar. They serve wine but have no idea about wines. When asked, they said they had red and white. We chose a red wine (of unknown origin) and was served cold. Absolutely wrong!! While the place is lovely, the service is terrible.

Not sure why youre prompted to tip as you clean up your own dishes. The food is made-to-order prices for reheated, bulk-produced sub-par items. Surprisingly, the coffee is just not very good. Atmosphere is passable but nothing I feel Id need to experience again. Parking: Plenty of no parking signs and the rest taken up by residents of the area. Not readily accessible by public transit either. Not convenient at all.

Delicious oatmeal

I found the prices are expensive for what you get. I ordered scrambled eggs and came with 1 small slice of rye bread for $19.50. The overall portion was small. The peppermint coffee which I ordered was just average. Very little peppermint, I was actually disappointed for $7. The total with the tip was over $30. Also the location is clean and inclusive. I will not be returning.

Say no more... Cortado + Chia ball = Heaven. Great space, amazing food and cool employees. owners are super friendly. 100 % recommended. Oh and dinner service with live music on Thursdays!! just perfect. Food : 5/5

Waffle chicken sandwich is delicious

My wife, Granddaughter and I went for breakfast on a Thursday morning just after Christmas. We arrived ahead of the rush (which happened 5 to 10 minutes after our arrival). We placed our breakfast order for two Morning Owl breakfasts and two lattes. The lattes came out almost immediately. The breakfasts however had not materialized after 25 minutes of waiting so I approached the counter and asked what had happened and told them that people who had arrived after us had already been served their meals. She told me that our ticket had been not placed in the kitchen and she would get on that immediately. We waited another 20 minutes and still no meals. I went back to the counter and I got the same response I am sorry about this and I am not sure why your meals had not been placed in the kitchen. She promised me our meals would be up in 5 minutes. Well the meals finally arrived but not how we ordered it; the eggs which were supposed to have been over medium and the bacon crispy came out as runny eggs and barely cooked bacon accompanied by home fries that looked like they came from the floor of a chip wagon (burnt and highly salted). We had heard such good things about the Morning Owl but were sadly disappointed. Needless to say, we will not be going back there again.

Wow. So my husband and I visited this cute coffee shop in Kanata and let me just say, this was one of the tastiest meals I ve ever had. And the prettiest. The atmosphere is chill and the service is excellent. It s a tad more expensive than some other coffee shops, but it s definitely great quality for what you pay. We will definitely be returning there soon. I wanna try everything else on the menu!!!! Parking: Street parking only

Really like this place. Good coffee and yummy food. I often get a vanilla latte with oat milk, the curry chicken sandwich or the ham and cheese croissant. Staff is friendly. Lots of seating and space, good wifi, nice music and not too loud. My only thing is that they open at 0800, I just feel like if the place is called Morning Owl it should at least be open early, it sucks that I can t stop here before work.

Beautiful place, photos and videos include a turkey, bacon sandwich that was beyond delicious, mushroom, cauliflower soup with dried bread pieces that I put in the soup (also delicious) and hot chocolate that was pretty good.

I was given innapropriate service but brought it up and management responded very quickly and sincerely.

Nice place to chat or grab a byte. Caution you wont find any type of tea. Also the foid variety could be improved. The nice thing of the place is the atmosphere and location in a private area away but not far from the crowd.

I used to like it last visit too many flies...brutal service, ordered coffee and waited for a while, one person only serving.

My visit today to Morning Owl wasnt planned. I was in the area for business and looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee. I googled the nearby coffee shops and I found this place. My first impression was this place is spacious and relaxing to be in. I have asked the batista they mentioned that sometimes it gets crowded. I have ordered latte and walnut cookie. The coffee was great but I was also surprised with the cookie how delicious it was made to me flavour. Chewy and full of walnut flavour. My missing star is for the ready sandwiches in their fridge, Im not a big fan of ready made sandwiches, where I prefer to be made to order even if it took a bit more time. However, this is a place that I will visit again in Im nearby.

The scone I had was great, the server very polite, but Ive never waited so long for my coffee (a flat white) - it took a good 20 MINUTES! The barista was clearly overwhelmed, and yet it was a normal-sized crowd on a Friday morning. The interior is airy and very nice. All in all, good, but the longest wait ever made this a (not so) memorable experience

I truly thought it would just be another regular cafe, but it is an incredible brunch spot with delicious food, relaxing atmosphere and really amazing service. Well I live close by and it is the best Coffee shop I enjoy to go to. #1 the staff are friendly, courteous, #2 the food is excellent especially the breakfast. Eggs Beny is the best Ive had in Kanata , yet and the price is the best. They will bring your food, drinks to your table, so you dont wait in line, witch is a big plus , for Seniors. Overall the atmosphere is quaint and not noisy, and a great patio to relax. Love it.. Vegetarian options: If an item you prefer, was not vegetarian, They will accommodate you , if possible.

It s written on the menu that branch is offered before 3pm, but they refused to take order at 2:50pm. No hospitality, lazy, and lie about what they offer.

Went to morning owl this morning for breakfast with my friends and the service was so unorganized and the barista was rude. The barista gave another table my latte, which would have been a minor inconvenience but when the person at the table went up to the bar to return her drink saying she had ordered tea not coffee, the barista did not dump out the cup. Instead, when I asked for my latte after already 20 minutes of waiting, she handed me the latte that the women had taken a sip out of. There were clear marks on the side of the glass and the foam art in the mug was mixed. This is a health code violation. When I asked the lady to make me a new one it is like she didn t even hear what I had said. She rolled her eyes and proceeded to take another 10 minutes to bring out a new latte. This is absolutely disgusting. If it hadn t of been for the table next to us that pointed out that the cup was soiled, then I would have drank out of someone else s drink. Hate to say it but after this experience, I don t think I would trust what they bring out, especially if it s a busy morning. They aren t paying attention to what they are serving

This is the cutest coffeeshop in Kanata, the food is excellent, the nice lady in the back is so sweet, always smiling, and she makes the best sandwiches Ive ever had. Their coffee is great and the atmosphere is so light and cozy.

Vegetarian options: Good variety. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free, dairy free options for food. Kid-friendliness: Spacious and comfortable seating. Wheelchair accessibility: It is on the first floor and accessible to wheelchairs.

An amazing place ! We were there this afternoon. I liked so much the service especially from Lisa the manager. She responded perfectly to all our requests and she was smiling to us all the time. The food is great especially the banana cake which was amazing. They have a beautiful terrace as well , where you can sit and have some sun. It was beautiful experience . We will come back for sure. Delightful neighborhood coffeeshop with an inhouse kitchen. Staff are welcoming and attentive to detail with their service. Pickup a table number when ordering to have table service. Lattes were perfectly balanced and poured with precision. We tried the cake of the day, plated with cornflowers and blueberries much to our delight. Would gladly visit again.

The girl taking our order was rude. Eggs Benedict was cold and the eggs were medium not soft as request. The English muffin was not toasted and was really dry. Breakfast burrito was tasteless with brown avocado. The guy who served us was very friendly. However, for the price, taste and quality I will not be returning.

The Avocado Smash on a Hash is amazing! Its my absolute favourite breakfast, but its not available at the downtown location. Theres not a lot of seating, as its a very popular place, but its soooo good!

Had a great time here, the coffee was top notch and the latte art was impressive! Food was fantastic, staff was friendly, and the ambience was really cool. Clearly a lot of love has gone into this place! As a cafe owner myself, I know how much work goes into this and I really felt the love as I enjoyed my morning here. Well done team, keep up the great work!

Busy coffee spot that has it all. Great selection in the pastry case and plenty of options for a complete meal. Kid-friendliness: The space inside is roomy for a stroller or a busy toddler. I think it is a great stop for parents and children.

Went there for brunch for the first time. First impressions were okay, but then things went downhill when, after waiting for a good half hour, our food was nowhere in sight. I asked on the counter, and our order wasnt placed even after paying upfront. After another fifteen minutes, the food showed up. The girl at the counter who took our order and then came to serve food at the table didnt care. Not even an apology for the mix-up. She just put the food on the table and left. The other lady that I asked about our order came to our table to apologize for the delay. The food and ambiance are good, I wish the service matched that. It was my first time there and perhaps the last.

Im hoping to give more stars on the next visit. I dropped in to check it out as Im new to the area. I was confused about which door was the entrance and ended up going in the exit. A girl snapped... thats an exit. I went to the counter where 2 young women were idling...literally...looking bored . I asked if there was a menu I could take with me. The girl with long black hair was very rude. She said, What?....looking like I was ruining her morning. I repeated, and she snapped. No...with a snippy look on her face. I then asked... pointed.. is that an exit door, and she looked at me with scrunched up face...uh yah. She left off the duh, but it was obvious. I still want to try the breakfast as the atmosphere looks nice, but Im concerned the server will be hostile again. Not a good first impression at all.

I decided its time to update my review. For the past 6 months or so I think the place is in continuous decline in terms of the food and coffee they offer. We used to go there quite often, but I find it with time less and less worthy so that our latest visit there was probably the last. The service was still good but other than that I really struggle to understand why I would visit there again. Nice cafe in Kanata area to grab a coffee while working. They have nice brunch options as well if you re on a date or something. The portion sizes are good and the taste of the good here won t disappoint you. The coffee was also delicious. You can also find some seasonal specialties for coffee. I tried the peppermint mocha with whipped cream in the winter and it was good. It was not too sweet and was nice and creamy! Definitely give it a try if you re in Kanata.

Awesome location as we walk around this area all the time. We dropped in for cappuccino, and treats, service was great but unfortunately the the pastry and cake was old and so dry. We left much of it behind. They shouldnt have been served as obviously they were past their date to serve.

Very good loved lunch

Coffee was great, food not so much. Ordered a breakfast burrito for 16$ and the menu said it came with potato Rosti and they gave me a side of lays potato chips. Such a rip. Breakfast burrito was okay , guacamole inside was brown. Definitely had better better elsewhere. Would have been better if they communicated they were out of Rostis and gave me salad instead. Most expensive bag of lays chips I ve ever purchased.

Special K bars are worth the stop, I mean where else can you get this ridiculously yummy treat?, but there s so much more. Breakfast, coffee, lunch, cocktails best blueberry scones ever. Service will improve as we return to normal but still, go here.

Its one of those modern overhyped trying to be breakfast place. Although the Coffee was good, it was too expensive (and we are talking about even expensive than SB). Service was terrible, staff wasnt that friendly and wont even ask if you need anything or what. The food was OK, but not $30+ worthy.

I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened on a chilly day in September, and on foot with nowhere sheltered to loiter outside. The lady working the cash was kind enough to let me wait inside to stay warm while they got the kitchen ready, and even brought me a coffee to drink while I waited for them to officially open. I had the Owl Breakfast, which was a very generous serving of eggs, 3 kinds of fruit, sausages and fried potatoes, all of which was well prepared and tasty. Breakfast was $20 after tax and a nice tip, which was a fair price for the serving size. Very nice spot, definitely swing by if you re hungry :)

Breakfast at best, coffee and yes you can add booze to light up your day, friendly server that gladly answer your questions about the menu

Delicious cappuccino. Very busy restaurant but not enough seating when people allowed to sit for hours with their computer. Take out is recommended.

Hard bread, hard potatoes, bland large latté... tasted like one shot of espresso and all milk to make it large. Balsamic all over my eggs.

Amazing spot for a great cup of tea and breakfast. The staff are so friendly and helpful It s my go to place when I need a boost of positive energy , I wish I could give it 6 Stars

Visiting the area and this cafe was just what I needed. Great coffee and food options. It was refreshing to have an alternative to the chain coffee shops/cafes which are numerous in the area.

I m really disappointed as I just spend $20 on a breakfast ($40 with my drink and uber eats fees) and the latte, eggs and guacamole are good, but the hashbrown base is about 10 seconds of cooking away from being burnt and it s barely edible. The serving size is also VERY small for $20. If I was at the restaurant I d send this back in a heart beat but as it was delivered I am out of money and luck . I ordered the avocado smash on hash. I hope this is a one off cause it seems like a great restaurant but I definitely won t be ordering for delivery ever again

I asked for 2 coffees in mugs as we were going to sit at the Cafe. Instead, the server gave them to us in paper cups and mumbled something to the cashier. When I asked why, she said that there was an issue with the dishwasher! However, I noticed that there were at least a dozen clean mugs behind her waiting to be used. Also, everyone sitting at the Cafe (probably 10-12 people) all had real mugs at their tables! This was very disappointing given that my previous visit here was 5 star!

We had a birthday breakfast at morning owl. The food was good. We waiting time was average, but still good. Inside is clean.

My second time there for a face-to-face team meeting. Im no coffee connoisseur, but I liked the latte that I ordered. Service was friendly, too. The place has large windows and was bathed in sunlight when we were there, which is a plus for me.

cute place! love the coffee mugs chicken & waffle sandwich was okay, but i wouldn t order it again. bland and doesn t have the sweet and salty chicken & waffles taste i expected. it s more like a classic chicken BLT sandwich that just happens to be made with waffles. should be labeled chicken & waffle BLT sandwich on the menu. salad was a salad, no complaints there.

I had a really good experience at Morning Owl Kanata. The food was fresh and of high quality, as was the coffee. The staff was quick and courteous. The reason why I am giving this a 4 star only is because I found it to be overpriced and the avocado on the Avocado Toast meal was not mashed, rather it was a halved avo plopped on the toast.
