Been comming here for years it s the best east side Mario s in town! We had a small issue but Scotty fixed it right away! Amazing service from Massie Riley and Scotty! Food

I always go for just lunch. Capellini and a salad.

East Side Mario s is my 2 nieces favourite place to eat and since we were visiting from out of town we thought we would treat them to their favourite. We usually love every East Side we visit but the service here was so awful I do not think I would be back. We arrived at 8:05 PM and were very rudely told we close at 9!! We were a party of six and we sat and placed our orders. You know that feeling when you re really not feeling welcome that was the feeling for our entire visit. Then when the bill came I let the server know I had CAA at which point she tossed down a pen and paper and said write down your number and walked away. I then overheard her tell a co worker they have CAA in a tone that expressed how much further frustrated she was. We paid our bill and left but overall it was without a doubt the worst thing East Side Mario s experience ever. Its a fun place to visit once in a while.... I definitely liked their cocktails and mocktails. Service is nice and mostly pretty fast. All you can eat salad, soup and frrsh bread is great.

I was attending this location with my partner and 2 of my friends (1 of which we were celebrating her birthday). We had been planning this day filled with tons of activities for weeks and specifically decided on this restaurant and location due to how much the group loves pasta and its location to all our other activities. The issue is i had gastric bypass surgery and have a very hard time eating pasta as it sits heavy in my body and I feel nauseous if I eat too much (usually only takes 4-5 bites). So I usually just share with my partner a bite or 2 and am satisfied. We have been to East Side Marios plenty of times since my surgery with no issue (never this location) with no issue. After everyone had placed their order (all of which included the all you can eat soup, salad, bread) and she came to me i said I would just have a bit or 2 of my partners pasta where she says if I do my partner could only have 1 bowl of his soup (which we werent sure about salad and such as she didnt quite explain and walked away). As everyone sat there and ate their soup and bread i waited and drank my water. She came by and grabbed my partners soup bowl when it was empty but didnt say anything and he was confused whether hes allowed a salad or not. When we could finally get her attention again he asked and she said she would have to charge him for a salad even though its all you can eat. Thats when I asked to speak to the manager. When he came over I showed him the card I received when I had gastric bypass surgery that asks restaurants to allow me to eat kids meals (smaller portions), but I was just showing it to show i had the surgery and explained everything i said here as to why I dont order my own and just have a bite or 2 of his entree. He said that because Im having a bite of my partners entree (which is limited) he was not allowed to have the part that is unlimited as unlimited. He said the price of the meal includes it all and is grouped together therefore even though the entree is limited and I planned to have a bite of that, my partner could not actually enjoy the unlimited part. He offered to get me their lunch size but any size of pasta is too much for me and I honestly dont ever eat it anymore and only came to East Side Marios because of the other 3 I was attending with. At that moment I decided to leave as my options were to watch everyone else eat while I had nothing, or subject my partner to pay the same price but receive less. As everyone else paid for their drinks I excused myself to the parking lot and started to cry as I had never been confronted by something like this since my surgery. My life since the surgery is hard as is, and to take a day that everyone was looking forward to and again we were celebrating a birthday to turn it into this put such a sour taste in our mouths.

Prior to last night (09/07/24), the last time my husband & I dined at this location was in 2017, & we swore wed never come back. The service was abysmal, the food was cold & flavourless, & the atmosphere was sorely lacking. Im genuinely so happy to share that our experience last night was in stark contrast to 7 years ago! We arrived at about 7, & the young hostess + host who greeted/seated us were friendly, fast on their feet, & accommodating. Our waitress was warm & attentive, quick to bring us our drinks/food, & checked in on us regularly without being intrusive. The atmosphere was comfortable, inviting, & relaxed, & most importantly, all of the food (from starters to mains) was remarkably good. Sizeable portions that were visually appetizing, piping hot, tasted fresh, smelled delicious, & were packed with flavour- we were extremely satisfied with our meals & felt we got our moneys worth. Well absolutely be back with our kids with hopes of a similar experience :) Well done, team- thank you for making date night a positive one to remember!

Called to place a reservation, was told they do not take reservations for peak times 5:00-7:00pm (or something like that). When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. After a bit of f confusion, we were finally seated. One oven was broken, so service for the mains were slow, but hospitality was fantastic. They were also cognizant of our children, and made considerable effort to get thier meals out promptly. Would visit again...but maybe insist on the reservation.

We love to dining at this restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. In my opinion, this one is the best restaurant in Ottawa.

We drove to Ottawa on Father s Day to treat my husband to dinner at the Terry Fox Drive location. Everything was wonderful! Our server was Styna and she was the absolute best! I ve been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and my daughters are both waitresses as well. We are all about customer service .She definitely deserved the 30% tip! She was very busy with other tables but we didn t want for anything! She even took the time to take a family picture for us. Well seasoned server!! The food was fantastic. I didn t get pictures because everybody chowed down too fast. Lol! We had chicken Parmesan, Double bacon carbonara, Caesar salad, 3 cheese cappelletti and Linguine Chicken Amatriciana! Food was hot and fresh and it was the perfect Father s Day dinner! So glad that we made the drive! Thanks guys!!

I love Eastside s Caesar salad and just placed an order for delivery and was so disappointed when the salad came with a pre-packaged Renne s sauce and no croutons. The dressing is what makes this salad amazing. I ve ordered online many times but this is the 1st time that it was disappointing

Eastside Mario s has been one of my favourite places to eat for as long as I can remember. The food is really good, the staff are fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out with the family. And they have fun little drinks for the kids. And fun adult beverages for Dad. Went to this location yesterday around lunchtime and was very impressed with how quickly we were seated and served. The food was amazing as always, will definitely visit this location more often!

Staff are very helpful, friendly, and check on us frequently and were great with our kids.

Update on April 28, 2024 Today we had the worst ever experience with Alex (the waiter) at this restaurant, although we are loyal customers since 2017 and would love the food and service mostly. However, today it started when we were a group of 18 persons and one of the ladies at the front door refused to seat us even if we split into smaller groups. Thanks to the other lady who called the manager to help and we were granted a table for 18 persons at 6:00 pm. The manager was very nice and professional, we also love to be served by Macy but this time it was Alex and I would say that it was extremely terrible as it started by an extremely long delay to come and serve us, then he showed up with 1 cup of water asking who ordered the water and wanted to drink, we all laughed because we were all expecting water :) then the bred came super late and was placed at one table and not the other table seating the kids and he justified that bred does not come with kids menu . Salads and soups take extremely longer than usual to come and finally the main dishes. Serving was unprofessional, even issues when paying the cheques. Chicken was also dry I really feel sorry about that place which we love and care about, it was a super terrible experience when Alex even told us that it is not acceptable that kids share salad, it was really said in an unprofessional and impolite way - Although the food is really tasty and service is good, I was shocked today when I just called and was told that the restaurant is not accepting any reservations, this is really sad, and what would be a logical reason behind that?

We had the spaghetti and meatballs and we were never so disappointed with the food.The meatballs were horrible sauce was so tasteless did not even stick to the noodles.An Italian eatery serving frozen meatballs is a total disgrace.We are Italian Nothing to with our waitress the service was excellent but we will never be back .Ron. Enjoyed lunch today, great service

Ate at this location and had a good experience my first time. Ordered the ravioli and a ceaser salad. Was very impressed with both dishes and was surprised at how fresh they both were but unfortunately my second visit to this location to order the exact same thing was a disappointment on a couple of levels. Just wasn t the same. My biggest complaint was the ceaser salad tho. Not as fresh as my first visit and both sour smelling and sour tasting with a chemical aftertaste. I discreetly pulled my server aside to explain why I hadn t had more than two bites at which time he asked me if I d like another. Didn t understand why he thought it would be different a second time but not wanting to be difficult I said sure but when the second salad arrived it proved to be just as disgusting to smell the second he set it in front of me so I didn t bother even tasting it a second time. Once again, I pulled my server discreetly aside where other customers wouldn t hear (not wanting to cause a scene) and explained that I didn t even bother to try it and asked him to simply smell it himself. The look on his face said it all at which time he quickly left with it to return to the kitchen after offering me soup to replace it. I declined cause this was already far more of a deal than I even wanted it to be but the biggest slap on the face was being charged for it anyhow. Didn t even offer to remove it from my bill. I don t know that I ll return to this location again quite frankly. It was a very uncomfortable experience for me because I don t like to be a pain but in light of how expensive everything is now I thought something should be said. A little consistency would help a lot.

The service was okay. Our waitress was to the point, but could ve been more friendly. The food was okay for the price. I would recommend for a family however, as you definitely get value for the money.

Had a celebration with the whole family and were promptly served and paid well attention to in the larger group section. Everyone loved their food, and the Italian soda was a great new addition to the drink menu. As is the potato bacon soup! Service was above and beyond and everything we needed, including some odd requests and alterations, were met! Parking: Parking around the building. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is fun (especially the drinks and dessert) and a kids eat for cheap night!

We went to East Side Mario s for a family dinner on Easter. Loved everything about the place starting with service, ambience and the food of course. The quantity was just right for us - the potion size was as listed on the menu and you get the all you can eat offers which helps if you are too hungry. We were 3 adults and a kid and everybody was happy after the meal. Giving 4 stars and not 5 as the restaurant did not have a lot of people so not sure how they function in busy times. Will surely visit again to get that 1 star.

Chicken parmesan

Where to begin... I came here with my friends and children, seeing as we know east side Marios as a family friendly restaurant, and the kids love the pasta and tomato soup. Right as one of my friends walked in, we over heard all the servers at the front mentioning that they wouldnt take us in their section and didnt want to seat us, even though there was plenty of room... we were brought to a table by the only hostess that even looked our way. Our sever clearly didnt want to serve us as we had young children and from what I can assume she figured we would be a handful. She was passive at best and stopped by to check on us only when we waved her down. We then were offered our choice of salad or soup, once we ordered the salads we were told that they were completely out of Cesar salad dressing. Now of course these things happen but not a single staff member seemed to care or hope that we had a good meal or experience I am so disappointed in my experience at this restaurant. My suggestion... if you have children, dont go here, you will not feel welcome and the service you will get will be a joke.

My husband and I have been dining here for about 2 1/2 years since moving to the area. I can say that this location and restaurant in general holds the record for a consistently good time. The food is always great but what really makes this location special is the staff and atmosphere is amazing. I have been coming semi regularly and it s so refreshing to see low staff turnover, and people that genuinely seem to enjoy their job. I had George the other day and he was friendly, attentive and really on it. Last October I had Brad for my birthday and I will absolutely never forget that birthday, I was laughing the entire time. When we have Lucy, she always remembers me by my engagement ring. It s also very refreshing to see the manager on the floor. Talking to customers, helping bring out food, bussing tables. I ve overheard him plenty of times telling staff they are doing great and offering hi-fives. It is very refreshing to see. The food is awesome, but what makes this place great truly is the team behind it.

Good pasta place for the family

7 of us went for a late lunch, around 2pm. The starters and drinks were good, and were brought to us like usual, within 5-10 minutes. However the main course took over 1 hour to get to us. When it came, they forgot to bring one child s food. I had to ask them where it was, and it was forgotten. Meanwhile the rest of our meals were half cold and half warm. Manager came and said the bill would be paid. Turns out it was the bill for the child s missing food What a shame, this used to be a good place. Updated on Feb 28 - Manager got back to me with an apology and gift certificate - very good of them. Adding extra star.

Meh food - no better than using bottles grocery store sauce with dried pasta. Portions all over the map. Server was pleasant, but a loooong wait to get the meal

The food was good but the service was lousy. It is true that there were a lot of customers but all the people were served before us and it took more than an hour to receive 2 dishes of chicken parmigiana and spaghetti which we had to eat in 10 minutes in addition to one half hour to get our drinks. First time at this restaurant and probably the last.

Ordered food tonight for a birthday party and the salad was missing. How hard was to count items before giving to customers? Had same issue with the same location before, and they promised to mail a coupon which was never received. At this point, there is no trust left

This is a bizarre place. They refuse to take reservations before 19:00, therefore you cant plan a meal there at dinner time, because you may not get seating. Thats a good way to chase away customers. One male of the staff, was constantly shouting. It sure doesnt make for a pleasant atmosphere to relax and try to enjoy a meal. I cant figure out why he wears glasses in his hair. The place is very noisy.

We have started coming almost every Friday night. Which is down to the extraordinary service from are now favorite waitress Noella. She is fast efficient, friendly and kind. My usually shy daughter now cant stop talking about her and how she is our favorite person. We highly recommend coming here if you want a family friendly experience.

We went almost a month back to enjoy dinner but the waitress who was serving was very rude and didn t even talk to us properly. The food was literally thrown to us. I changed my seats and complained to the manager about this. UPDATE- even after filling a google form - no one from the restaurant has reached out to me

Our waitress was not very attentive. She asked what we wanted to drink and because my granddaughter wasn t sure, she said she would come back. Before my daughter and I could say anything she was gone. Didn t come back for quite awhile. Ordered our drinks and again she didn t come back too quick. We ordered our lunch and we sat for awhile. When we finally saw her my daughter said she was sorry but she forgot to order chicken for her salad. She said to her you can bring it separately because she didn t want to mess it up for anyone else. We waited a long time. Finally got our meal. Fortunately it was delicious. Never came back with more bread. It was my granddaughters birthday and we were waiting for her dessert. Was taking too long. Saw her at the back where the computer was to calculate the bill. I went to her and asked if we could take the birthday cake home. She said it was an ice cream sundae. I said to forget it and if we could get the bill. She brought the machine to us and left. I paid the bill and we left. She was nowhere to be seen. We could have easily walked out without paying. I work retail and I go out of my way to be friendly and personable. She had no personality and did not deliver good service. I am sorry I had to write this, but it wasn t a good experience. Thank goodness the company was wonderful. Dietary restrictions: There was good gluten free options.

Yummy soup and pasta

There is plenty of space for dine-in, but they might be a little busy if you visit over the weekend. Staff is helpful with food suggestions and the service is pretty fast. We have tried different dishes and they all were flavourful. The price of the food is decent for the quantity. Also, they serve you with freshly baked bread loaf with butter at no cost, and it is unlimited. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well!

The service here was great. Even with the restaurant jam-packed, my server brought my drinks and food quickly while also checking in with me on a regular basis. I also enjoyed the all you can eat house salad and garlic bread, along with pasta. Overall, it was an excellent lunch outing.

We were seated immediately and our order was taken quickly. Food was served in good time and was delicious. Our waiter kept on top of bread, salad, and drinks. We had a large table (4 adults and 4 children) and our waiter did such a great job taking care of us. Awesome dinner experience! Kid-friendliness: Our waiter was very friendly and playful with our kiddos! He spoke directly to them, smiled and waved at them often, and brought their icecream out in a playful manner. Our 4 year old had a lot of fun with him!

Great food and service, the hockey game was on every TV they have, so it did get kind of loud. Have the quiet romantic dinners on non-game nights.

Horrendous customer service and rude. Could not even process a proper refund. The plates were dirty. The manager even said this was an experience to our table when one of our friends was trying to get a refund for a terribly made pizza which looked like somebody had eaten from, that left us confused and speechless, unexpected comment. Do not recommend and will not come back.

the taller dark coloured hair waiter with black glasses (Evan M) wouldn t take any of our dishes off our table and never really checked on our table and walked away while I was trying to finish ordering a few times. not only made us feel bad but we felt bad because we kept having to ask other servers for other things even when they had other tables too. the lady who wear the black bandana mask was such a sweetheart in helping us, do wish she was our server. he would walk around in the back area by the kitchen a lot instead of coming to our table too. I could certainly understand being busy with other tables but walking back and forth and laughing with kitchen staff

Food quality is very good. Generous quantities. Most importantly, Masi provides super accommodating and super friendly service. For now, the Kanata location is the only restaurant we visit when we intend to dine outside. Dietary restrictions: I cannot eat soy and the staff there were patient and gave me the right advice to let me avoid consuming soy. Kid-friendliness: All of us including our 3 kids enjoy going to the Kanata location. Masi helps all of us pick the right dishes and she is very friendly and accommodating.

I went there with my family for the first time. The food quality and quantity both were good. The pizza we ordered was soft and we liked it. There was nothing to complain about. Vegetarian options: We ordered vegetarian pizza and pasta. Both were very tasty. Tomato soup was delicious.

The food was delicious, and the waitress gladly moved us out of the cold draft in her zone, upon our request, to another area so we could be warm. We enjoyed our meal.

I brought my daughter in for lunch today (April 13th 2023) our server was Scotty C and he was absolutely amazing. Super attentive, brought over everything before I could even ask for it. He made us laugh the entire time and was super entertaining. He accidentally dropped my daughters pasta but the guest recovery was excellent. I was pretty confused about the website menu and dine in menu, I checked the website and noticed that their lunch served with all you can eat soup/salad and garlic homeloaf to any menu item valued at $9.99 or greater for only $5.99. But when we placed our order, the waitress told us the all you can eat only for dinner. I told her if we pay $5.99 each on top on our lunch. She said no. If we want the all you can eat, we have to order the dinner size. So, finally 5 of us all ordered from the dinner menu. Overall, the service was great, food was good.

The food we chose was good, the unlimited soups and breads were delicious, the service came to see us often for an addition of soup and bread. Prices are correct since the general price increase. Recommended

Absolutely fabulous service by the East Side Mario team today! They were able to accommodate a group of 27 at very short notice and were super organized and friendly! Love this restaurant!

They accepted a table of 27 people with 20 min notice! On point service, so attentive, fantastic food served at a perfect pace. Crushed it East Side!

I m visiting my daughter from rural area where restaurants don t deliver except pizza. So, I look forward to my little treats when in Kanata. I ordered a garden salad and 2 breads that I ve been so looking forward to eat from East Side Mario s only to get enough salad dressing to cover 1/4 of my salad so disappointed. $21 for a salad and 3/4 of it in fridge no dressing and one bread left. Only a very small container of dressing comes with salad maybe 3 tablespoons.

We were never offered soup and were offered only the initial 2 small loaves of bread and one bowl of salad each, while the menu clearly states ALL YOU CAN EAT soup, salad and bread. Our entree came pretty quickly, but we could have used some more salad and I am still wondering about that non-existent soup. The server was polite and took our orders readily, so they were left a generous tip, but I am still wondering why the soup was not offered and why we were never offered another serving of bread or salad. All you can eat is simply a gimmick. Although I probably couldnt have eaten any more than I had, it was never offered...and no soup was offered. I had the chicken, potatoes and vegetables and was definitely not expecting potato wedges. I was expecting cubed roasted potatoes, and was surprised to see potato wedges looking like those from Loblaws deli on the plate.

Ive been coming to this location for many years. Service has always been good and the food quality and taste is consistent. Try their signature entre Hells Kitchen Chicken for dinner or the Chicken Parmigiano Sammy. The all-you-can-eat salad is a very good customer keeper.

Love the EastSide Marios. Food is consistent among all locations in Ottawa.

We came on a Friday evening to celebrate our daughters birthday. Restaurant was loud, but thats to be expected because it was full. We ordered pasta and a club wrap. Delicious and worth waiting for. Evan S was fantastic. Very attentive, happy and helpful. His suggestion of 3 cheese tortellini was a great choice! He also took time to show my little girl the bathroom, she really liked him as well. Hope to have him again on a future visit. 5***** for a lovely night out :)

Went here with friends from out of town. We went on Wednesday which allowed us all you can eat pasta, as well as all you can eat salad and bread. Even though it was near closing time, we were treated very well and the food was amazing. Lastly, our server, Chris, was one of the best weve had at any restaurant. He was personable, kind, and kept coming back to check on us. I highly recommend this location.

Ordered my usual dish i get from them, sausage and pepper pasta dish. Its been awhile since i went into a east sides since covid started so i needed to get out with my gf. We got our food and i noticed the portion was smaller then before and i thought nothing of it until i started to eat. The pasta was well overcooked and i could not even eat it. I had some salad because we only saw our server 1 time since ordering so i couldnt ask for more salad,bread or salad. When the server came back to see us i told her about the pasta and they told me it was made in the morning and has sat most of the day, they then told me they could remake the dish but the pasta would be the same as it has been sitting most of the day. I shortly after that cancelled the order because it would be no change whatsoever . i will never go back unless they start actually giving u what you pay for and start to cook the pasta when its ordered. Takes 20min max. And the 1/3 of a italian sausauge on some plain sauce with some green pepper and 1 spicy pepper would not even out to a 26 dollar dish no taxes. And with a decreased amount i would still be hungry if i didnt like salad and bread even if it was very limited amounts. Ah! East Side Mario s! What is it that brings me back here once a year despite my best judgement, you ask? The kids of course. East side s is the happy meal, the Big Mac you could say, of corporate Canadian Italian dining. Where mediocrity and sauce from giant bags are served hot. One cannot miss the marinara, with it s ketchup red glow, and fine seasoning consisting of salt. The endless bread and margarine, and iceberg lettuce salad are the stars of the show, before the main course that brings forth the true essence of the frozen food aisle. As I sat with my children - victims of marketing - and I victim of their false beliefs and underdeveloped taste buds, I witnessed a mystery. Of epic proportions! There sat four grown adults, without brood, ordering food at this restaurant. As I chewed my-veal-tastes-like-chicken, of the rubber type, I pondered their state. Did someone force them here like bingo day at the retirement residence? Did the friendly smiles of the staff belie something more sinister at play? There was no way to truly know. As the waiter dropped gelato cones on the table, a trick, where once there were a trio of ice cream cones, and I looked at my bill that must of blown in accidentally from a finer establishment, I was thankful, grateful even. That the sun would circle the sky 365 days until my next lapse in judgement.

Family-friendly, casual atmosphere and variety of pleasing Italian-inspired food. Some vegetarian options, including the BEST cauliflower crust pizza Ive ever had. Only 4 star for food as the prices were steep.

Went there with friends on Friday night for dinner. The place was really packed. Service was great. Tomato soup, the complimentary bread, and chicken parm with spaghetti were really good. In town for the first Toronto/Ottawa pregame at our home away from home.... sorry to say we lost. Great seats at the game, and a great meal afterwards.

We dined at this fine establishment this evening and the overwhelming consensus was that the food lacked flavour. Watered down pesto sauce, low quality ingredients on the other pasta dishes we ordered. Underwhelming. The best thing honestly was the bread and the tomatoe soup. Service was great though.

Food was 45 mins late and unfortunately when we got there our food was given to the wrong people not impressed saunders farm would never have done this i would have much rather have gone there instead.

Went to meet a group of ladies. There are no vegan options on the menu. I ended up ordering a Caesar salad. The dressing was too cheesy. Waitress was hard to find.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Food was superb! Our server, Styna, was excellent! Even though the restaurant was very, very busy, she made our visit enjoyable..

We were a large group and the guy who served us last Tuesday night (last week), was really good, and food was amazing. But for 2 adults and 2 teen, it was $140. I so wish portions would be smaller and price too, because we can never finish those plates.

There were 3 of us that went for dinner and they couldnt seat us. 45 minute wait. The restaurant was half full. Lots of empty tables. Left and went to Swiss Chalet. Will not be going back!!

This is my go to before a Sebs game. Yiu cannot beat the 7 dollar unlimited soup and garlic bread. Oh and the staff at the bar are amazing. Smiles a mile wide ..Carrie and Ms Freckles from Renfrew. Hut them up. Watch a game or dive before cheering in the Sens.

We ordered take away for a birthday celebration and ordered for eight. we were about 30 min. from the restaurant so I didnt know how good it would be after that time. it was delicious! a little heat up and everyone enjoyed!!! everything was just what we ordered and nothing was over looked or missing. Thank you for an awesome dinner with my family!

We love East Side Mario s but our server Brad made our experience EXTRAORDINARY.He was fast and efficient but the best part was his personality. He had my children laughing, their grandma and us! What more could you ask for? Delicious food served by someone who genuinely cares about the people he serves. Such an amazing human- we can t wait to return and hopefully have Brad assist us again. THANK YOU!
