Contemporary Canadian food & wine at the Brookstreet Hotel with a patio overlooking the golf course.
This is the second year we’ve chosen Perspectives for our staff Christmas lunch, and it did not disappoint. We appreciate the private room, which provides a comfortable space for our smaller group to connect and enjoy each other’s company. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was able to accommodate the various dietary restrictions within our group. It was a lovely experience, and we want to extend a special thank you to our server, Mateus. His friendly demeanor and exceptional service truly elevated our experience—he went above and beyond to ensure everyone was well cared for.
This restaurant has gone severely downhill as of late. We went for brunch today. Had the burger and the huevos rancheros. The burger was very overcooked. The egg dish was ice cold. Service was very lacking. We had several mistakes with our orders, not once did she ask if the food was satisfactory. Everything took forever. Our food was nearly an hour and the restaurant was nearly empty. How the food can take that long and still come out cold is beyond me. This used to be a great spot to go for a weekend breakfast/brunch but this was all around bad.
Very expensive and the food was not good at all. My partner and I went there last night for our anniversary. We aren't rich and we rarely go out because we have 4 kids but we had a food voucher of $50 so we wanted to celebrate properly. What a mistake it was to book this restaurant. I ordered the ravioli, he ordered the ribeye. I barely ate mine, there was a pungent flavour in it like really old olive oil and the sauce was water. The steak was ordered medium, came out with blood in the plate. I wanted to return it but my partner is very paranoid of sending back food. I don't understand how a chef and the waitress knew he ordered medium and the steak was cut in half for service were okay we delivering that. Just unprofessional He ordered a1 sauce, never recieved it. Was the chef angry he asked for it or something? And he asked to change the sides of the steak for fries. She went ahead and ordered a side of fries which was $8 on top of the $59 plate Just upsetting. Service was good beside the mistakes and the drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was great but I do not recommend this place because the food is subpar and the price ridiculous I left hungry and really sad that our only anniversary dinner in 7 years was absolute trash. P s our waitress took 10% when she saw I didn't eat which was nice of her because I insisted on letting it go and not wanting anything else because I was really upset.
Had the beet salad for lunch today. Incredible combination of flavours . Just wow! Lovely atmosphere, great service. And I can’t say enough good things about the beet salad. Kudos to the chef. I’ll be back.
My spouse made a reservation over the phone for the same day (a Sunday) at Perspectives, and specified that we have a dinner coupon. She was asked if we celebrate something, and she mentioned my birthday. When we arrive, surprise #1: Perspectives is CLOSED on Sundays for dinner. We were told to go to the lounge bar/restaurant. They had our reservation. Surprise #2: We could NOT use the dinner coupon, as it was for Perspectives, and they were not Perspectives. In the end, surprise #3: nothing was done for my birthday, not even a verbal wish. Drink-wise, the cocktails were OK. Food-wise, the meat was cooked well, but the plate lacked taste. The service was OK in the beginning, but after a huge party arrived, our waitress switched interest. Personally I was disappointed overall.
Eduardo was one of the friendliness and funniest waiter we've ever had. The restaurant was very clean, all around friendly staff, and they gave us free champagne for our 25th wedding anniversary. And to top off an great evening, the food was amazing.
Great brunch. Bacon and eggs, waffles and Eggs Benedict are their specialties. Food was fantastic. Great decor and very reasonable pricing. Actually the same price as most diners but the quality is much better. Not sure why I would go anyplace else. Great value. Wish they had omlettes though. Everyone in my party was very happy with their meal and value.
Nice dining option in Kanata The restaurant is located inside the beautifully decorated resort style Brookstreet Hotel. Great ambiance, friendly staff, free coat check, tasteful decor. However food selections are limited, although they do offer a 3 course table d’hote menu. Drink choices also limited. Service was very slow for a 1/4 filled restaurant. Still a good place for group gatherings in Kanata, it’s not like that we have many more choices sigh.
Amazing breakfast. Great place for a Xmas party :)
Great out with family. Warmth atmosphere. Memorable evening with music. Thank you
I was impressed!
Shawn from the perspective & options bar was absolutely phenomenal. Great conversation and exceptional service. An absolute master at his craft. Will happily return! Brookstreet Marshes were also clean, fast, challenging yet so rewarding! 15/10
Assume it was just a bad day for them. Wife got the French toast and they forgot the vanilla cream and maple syrup. I got the eggs benedict. Hollandaise was a bit bland, but more concerning is it appeared I was given a gluten free English muffin that just crumbled as I used the fork, making it a mushy disaster. Dont believe I will give them a try again and I am a regular Brookstreet customer.
Cant say Ive ever seen shrimp cocktail severed warm and on a plate.. Certainly not as good as one would get at The Keg for $17 vs $22.. Was thinking for the extra 5 bucks it would be something special.. Its not.. At all
Food was excellent. However, service was poor. Server was very attentive at the beginning of meal, but it appeared that a private party took priority over our table of six. Requested our bill at the end of the evening, several mistakes were found and corrections took forever to rectify. Another server intervened and was able to find a solution to the problem in a timely manner.
Servers were very patient when we had different needs. Quite a few, actually, and they just smiled and helped. Super with the refills of water and coffee. We stayed three nights and ate several meals here. I m not the #1 poutine fan, but GET IT. Breakfast: The food was fresh and delicious. Nighttime: Bartenders do a fantastic job. Even a Tint bit flexible at Last Call. The place is clean, the view is beautiful, as is the food. I would like the avocados smashed, not chunky, on the toast. That s my only complaint , a 1st world problem. Bravo to you and your customer service! No pic, just imagine beautiful food. Wheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp to allow access to eating outside with view of the golf course. Only a few tables outside of direct sunlight, though. Inside is fine however, still nice view, & accommodating to most needs like accessibility and selective tastes as well!
I have been to this Brookstreet restaurant many times. This week I had salmon for lunch and was very disappointed because it was very salty. Hard for a chef to ruin a salmon dish but it happened at this restaurant.
The staff were very kind in helping us find a really quiet spot so my dad, who is hearing impaired, could hear us better. That said, the food was very disappointing. Three of us ordered French toast. All the French toast was dry. Fruit and chantilly cream was sparse in all three orders. For the classic breakfast, the home fries were tough and dried out, and the scrambled eggs were flavourless, as if they had come from a university cafeteria. I wanted something special for my 60th birthday and this was not it.
V+ Chocolate decadence cake was awesomeee .
While the server was friendly and attentive, the overall experience at the restaurant fell short. The food was mediocre, with a side salad that was noticeably not fresh. Despite the pleasant service, the delay in bringing water was frustrating. Overall, its an overrated place that could improve its attention to detail to enhance the dining experience.
Delicious, food beautiful and calm atmosphere, truely a magical experience!
Hit and miss with this restaurant. Servers are very polite but loose attention quickly. Had to send quiche back at breakfast because they forgot to bring salt and peeper. Salad with quiche was very good. Great vinaigrette. Quiche was too thick and tasteless. On the flip side the diner the night before was very good. 12 oz steak with smashed potatoes. Very nicely done
Told them it was our anniversary, but it was never acknowledged. I felt our server had more important things to do. We never had his attention. Food was outstanding
Great breakfast and, more importantly, great coffee. Awesome service and recommendations from my server Spencer. Will return.
My husband and I had an excellent 3 course dinner. Deborah, our server, was exceptional. She made excellent recommendations and the main courses (salmon and steak) were perfect. The atmosphere with live music was great as well. We look forward to dining here again!
Both my order, and my friends, were absolutely delicious. The server was excellent, the food arrived very quickly. The live jazz pianist was stellar as well. Only complaint would be the uncomfortable chairs. Otherwise a perfect evening!
Great food
Went for the first time yesterday, amazing food and the server Jacob was very prompt with refills and clearing the table. I had the steak and it was the best steak I ve had in awhile, awesome quality.
Fantastic
Very classy atmosphere. The tables are well spaced and maintain the ambiance of the restaurant while giving some privacy. The food was delicious with good portion sizes. Vegetarian options: Decent number of vegetarian and vegan options for apps and main courses. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu has several options. Seating spacing is good so rowdy kids dont interrupt others meals
We went for a corporate dinner. The atmosphere was perfect for this event. There was a live entertainment in one corner that provided some background music bit not to much to take away our conversations. The food, drinks and service were top notch.
Maybe before covid it was a fine dining respectable restaurant. That is now the second time we go for a family event to this restaurant after covid. I am neither impressed with the service ( totally understaffed) nor with the overpriced food. First they messed up our mothers 75 birthday , which we reserved 2 weeks ahead . My husband was 15 min on tne phone getting ping ponged over 4 different people than they put us right at the entrance at the lounge with live music blaring. Apparently the hostessevon the phone didn t indicate the special family occasion nor that we want to be on a nice area in the restaurant. They did moved us , but only because I insisted ( all of the sudden there was room evenso my husband asked from beginning on the front hostess) . The food- overpriced- the mushroom pie had nothing but mushrooms- no side vegetables or salad ( size of an appetizer) , the gnocchi were ok, but also should be served with the price of 29 $ and small portions with the side salad. The service was kind but totally slow ( because she had to serve at the end in the lounge and restaurant ) They won t be seeing our family any time soon. ( my inlaws went there before covid many times for special occasions)
We had the worst lunch at Perspective! We have been to this place many times. We love the deco and the environment. But the food quality is going downhill. My friend s chowder was very salty and the soup wasn t hot (I guess the helper used microwave to heat up and didn t do it properly). His and my wife s club sandwiches were tasteless. Her stomach didn t feel good after arriving home from lunch. My friend s sweet potato fries were over cooked. Another friend has salmon. She said the salmon tasted very bad. Told us not to order again. My beef burger was very dry! The burger at A&W tastes much better. However, the service was excellent and hence I gave 18% tips even the food was terrible. We will definitely not rush to go back. Our friends said they missed the Japanese chef there. At that time, the food was excellent when prepared by that Japanese chef. I have to say my wife s food tastes better than the food there.
Quiet place, I go here often for lunch or drinks after work. Staff is very friendly and helpful food is always great. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome but not too many usually there.
Went for a biz lunch. Not a good spot for that.
Lovely spot for a quiet lunch. Plenty of space, good menu and friendly staff. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are good. Food : 5/5 |
Everything about this place was awesome! Its on the return list 100% Food
Menu is overpriced for the quality. Options are limited. Started with charcuterie board at ~$40. Definitely the worst charcuterie board I ve ever had. Sushi was great, pasta was overpriced for the serving size. Dessert was a stale donut covered in caramel, definitely do not recommend. Overall, save your money and go anywhere else. Dinner for two was over $200 and left us unsatisfied.
We were here for my husbands birthday and Jermoe just made our night. From the moment we sat down he was amazing and attentive with fantastic recommendations, even changing my husbands mind on his dinner. To top it off he asked what dessert he would like as a birthday treat as he didnt want to bring us something that would not be enjoyed. With the desert he involved me in singing my husband happy birthday and just could not have made the night more perfect. Well come back solely based on him.
We had dinner here last night and breakfast this morning, the food was delicious and the service was great. Definitely recommend and will return.
This is the second time eating at this restaurant and it s very disappointing!! The service is horrible - the servers do not do their quality check-in, and you have to wait around to ask to order. No condiments, salt or pepper were offered. The food took forever and it was cold once we finally got it. Overpriced, low quality restaurant.
I am truly astonished by the service tonight and not in a good way. We were seated at 6 and didn t get food until 8:30. Our server didn t take every drink order when he came around so part of our table had to get up and order their drinks. And that was just the beginning of this colossal mess. My partner ordered the fixed menu which came with a lobster dish. He asked for no cheese and no cream sauce and to use tomato sauce instead. Waiter said yes. 1.5 hours later they gave him cream sauce and he said he ordered tomato. They sent it back and mixed in tomato and he asked if there was still cream and they said yes. They said they can t do it without cream and gave him a menu to reorder. Our whole table has finished eating at this point so he just said forget it and just didn t eat. My partner had a bite of my dish and the waiter came over and said you shouldn t eat that and I asked why and he said it s dairy. I said it says on your menu it s vegan to which he said oh . Not sure if their menu is wrong and it s dairy or if our waiter was just trying to catch my partner eating dairy. Either way, you don t say to a customer you shouldn t eat that as they are eating it. To top it off, they added extra drinks to my bill which I had to ARGUE with the waiter was wrong. The bread was excellent but other than that, this was a horrible experience. Update: had brunch Sunday with our waiter and he deserves a raise. This guy is the best thing going at this restaurant.
The charcuterie board is not good at all, honestly. I really recommend taking it off your menu. There is not enough cheese, and too many disgusting pickled vegetables. The meat had no taste. Literally all of it was bland. I wish I listened to the other negative reviews about the charcuterie board before I ordered it. So honestly it is my fault that I ordered it, but if I can save some else.
Stayed at Brookstreet for staycation and decided to dine in for breakfast after an amazing dinner at Options Jazz lounge the night before. The host was pleasant, the waitress seemed sweet but unattentive. We were sat in a booth (2 kids 2 adults) which was nice and cozy but needed two more place settings, which we had to take from a nearby table. The food was brought to us by a different server and we were never checked on once we received our food. The kids got the fluffy buttermilk pancakes which were flat, rubbery and somehow sour tasting. The best part of the classic breakfast was the toast (even though not buttered) the eggs were over cooked, sausage was fairly good, potatoes were okay. My friend got the yogurt bowl and was underwhelmed and mentioned to the server the preserved pears seemed off. We were only offered more coffee at the end of our meal the restaurant did not seem busy at the time. We waited for quite some time for the bill, which the server brought to us only after we started to get up from the table thinking we must have to pay on the way out. If I stay again I will just get a quick breakfast at the B-cafe which is essentially Starbucks.
Had dinner here on a Friday night. Deborah was our server and was fantastic! Music, food and service were awesome. Highly recommend :) best cauliflower bites we ve ever had!!!
I frequently dine at the Brookstreet hotel restaurant. Their patio is my favourite in all of Ottawa. I especially appreciate the amazing service from our regular service Jamie. He is awesome, some of the best service Ive ever experienced!
My wife and had breakfast here yesterday and I am pleased to say it was really good. I had found in the past that the bacon and potatoes were not very fresh. However this time they were excellent. Spencer also did a great job of serving us, that is worth mentioning.
I loved this restaurant the first night. I let myself be advised by Cece, a friendly, smiling and very attentive waitress. She knows all the dishes in detail and is very professional. Menu at 48 dollars with starter, main course, dessert. Everything was delicious and well seasoned: curry pumpkin soup with crème fraîche, followed by rolled turkey with various accompaniments (I asked for mushrooms instead of Brussels sprouts). And to finish in apotheosis, the pumpkin roll with homemade walnut ice cream and extra whipped cream (delicious!) (In the photo the ice cream is melted: Cece herself took the initiative to bring me a small ball no fondue, its incredible!) I admit the quantities are generous. Just a perfect evening by the fireplace with a little concert in the lounge. I went back the next day. At noon: Crumble: good but very/too sweet! In the evening at the start of the shift I asked that they put aside the squash roll because we had a hockey match. Once arrived I order dessert. : the portion served was twice as small as that of the day before!!!!! Explanation ; because I got the last bit... This disappointed me because I had specifically reserved and requested a share... Too bad...
We had brunch at Brookstreet and it was outstanding. We also have the Flex fitness pass and wow the value for the gym and pool is remarkable. Cheers to keeping the active community going strong. Much appreciated.
The sushi is fresh and very tasty.
Once a great place but please please bring the food out faster, people are waiting over an hour for food. It isn t hot at that point, you need more staff ASAP!!!!!! It s super inconvenient to be paying that much per plate and have lukewarm food and a server that only sees you occasionally, please fix!
I sadly agree with all the negative reviews. This place used to be good pre-pandemic but they have let their standards fall and still charge the same price. Service was slow, drinks were horrible, food was tasteless and not fresh at all and the ambiance felt like (these are the words of my mother): being at a restaurant in a retirement home. Eek.
Very poor food quality. Definitely in need of a refresh of kitchen staff and or dinner chef. Not sure what was going on there but very disappointed in restaurant. The Caesar salad was no ceasar salad at all. The dressing was clumps of plain mayonnaise not a hint of garlic, pepper, parm, anchovies paste, lemon etc. When asked instead of fry s also told they don t have any other options as they have no potatoes at this time for mashing or roasting. And along side a steak they also added a side dish of more mayonnaise. Hotel and servers were great. Food overprice and poor.
Don t order the burger & kale caesar salad combo salad was kale & ceasar dressing with nothing else. The burger was so over cooked & bone dry that I had to order a second beer to finish my meal. Adding insult to injury, my meal cost $48
Great option if you re looking for a slightly elevated restaurant experience in Kanata or staying at the hotel. The menu is small, but offers a great variety of options including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Service is great with friendly staff and good turnaround times for food and drink orders.
The service was very good. The sushi was good but expensive. I was a bit disappointed with a tuna starter, overly citrus and needed more of a salty element. Main was saddle of lamb which was dry, accompanying veggies and potatoes were good. Overall the food was ok, but I think there are some better options.
We made reservations here a few weekends ago and the restaurant didn t disappoint! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful. We ordered sushi as our appetizer and it was amazing! My husband ordered the steak and I ordered the pork tenderloin for our main course. Both were great. We would definitely return!
Didn t taste like much unfortunately! I never add salt to my food at restaurants but def. added a lot this time around. But.. Ottawa isn t really known for its outstanding breakfast joints though so.
Went in to have supper, the food was decent. Went outside for a minute to come back and both our wine glasses and bottle of wine had disappeared from our table, we had let our server Rolly know we were coming back in, never in our lives have had such rushed service or had our bottle disappear, disappointing end to date night, and the first time not leaving a tip. Helpful hint, if you order a bottle of wine do not leave your table!! Buyer beware.
Dessert menu is very small and the portion size was even smaller, but not so the price! Nice ambiance but no value for money!
2020: The food was excellent (we had the salmon and beef, chocolate mouse), well presented, and original. Patrons were well spaced for Covid-19 protocols. Service is always spectacular whenever we go to Perspectives. It s one of our favourite local restaurants. I would recommend it for a romantic date night. May 2022 update: the steak was not the greatest.
Had brunch, meh! Slow not great for the price.
Service was slow but worth it in the end ..great views and super clean
The patio is fantastic great atmosphere, attention, menu and music...able to talk and enjoy with great friends.
Great food and excellent service. Wonderful jazz musician.
PDR (Private Dining Room) was nice, spacious and quiet.
The chowder stood out. The steak wasnt so great. But not a bad spot overall. Tad bit expensive overall tho.
I wasn t going to post anything about my eggs Benedict on Oct 2/22, but I went a restaurant in Bells Corners on Oct 10 and again ordered eggs Benedict. The quality of the eggs Benedict itself was better at Perspectives, both egg yolks were cooked the way I ordered. When I looked at the overall presentation and quality of the rest of the dish, I found the potatoes were lacking. They were frozen home fries On Monday, one egg was done right but the other was just a bit too firm for me.but I forgive them because I had real home fries. So between Perspectives and the one in Bells Corners, I prefer the latter. I didn t expect much there, but I did at Perspectives .
Not very appetizing. They serve deli meat ham with their breakfast. Youre better off going to McDonalds.
Sad to see an iconic Kanata establishment struggling. Menu very compressed, kitchen not impressive as per times passed. Service is still exceptional. Floor staff is engaged, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Nice to know new bar stooles being delivered tomorrow....
If u want a hotel with no fridge and microwave and you semi freeze in the rooms in winter. Then youre welcome here. Just effing focus on the restaurant business. Yeah. Tvs in a wardrobe too. How that for an Ottawa 4 star hotel too!
For the past several years our family has ordered the full turkey dinner package from Brookstreet Hotel restaurant for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. It has always been great food, plentiful for the ten people it is advertised to serve. This past Christmas (2020), the meal was still delicious but the quantity was not there. If we had ten guests to serve, there would have been an embarrasing shortage of food in three of the containers (the dressing and the two vegetables). There was no warning of the containers being about half the normal size, nor was there a reduction in price. This is not acceptable, Brookstreet. Are your standards slipping?
I want to like this restaurant. I really do. Its close and convenient. In non--Covid times, the indoor setting is very nice and the patio is really nice, shaded in the evening with a nice view over the pool and golf course. But the food just isnt great. I started with ceviche - it was a very small portion, flavours were not properly balanced (lacked seasoning) and was served undrained, which was difficult to eat and unappetizing. I ordered the steak frites, as did my partner. We requested medium and medium rare. We got well done (not even a trace of pink), probably because the steaks were so thin it would have been difficult to cook it properly. As well, the plating looked like what you would get at a diner (doesnt affect taste, obviously, but still a bit of a meh feeling). For dessert I ordered the dutch apple pie but it was frozen in the middle so I couldnt really finish it. The coffee was $4.50 and was very weak. For two people, appetizers, mains, one dessert, a coffee and one drink each came to nearly $200 with tip and it did not live up to the price tag. It wasnt terrible but at that price point, I expect better. We were dining with friends so I did not send anything back or complain because I didnt want to make a fuss at our first dinner out in over a year. This place could be so good - the menu reads well and the setting is great. But I come back every couple years....and its average at best. There are much better restaurants in Kanata at this price point.
Our friends treated us for dinner at Perspectives outdoor patio last Sunday (originally planned for this weekend, but the patio tables were all booked up). Note that all persons entering the hotel building must wear a mask while in public indoor spaces as required by Health Ontario. When we checked in, we needed to scan the bar code to enter our contact information. Then we were brought to the patio to be seated. (We can choose to be seated inside the restaurant as well. But we preferred to sit in the patio for better air circulation .) I ordered their Table DHote menu. Few ordered from the Starter and Main menu (see photos for what we ordered). Now my review would be based on food taste, service and ambiance aspect: 1) Food Taste and Presentation: Food taste was alright. One dish (seared Scallops) received 4.5 star rating. My salad tasted good while the Arctic Char fish was ok and I gave 3.5 star rating (I would like to give 4 star rating. But then I think the kitchen chefs used too much MSG to enhance the food taste. I felt so thirsty at night and during my sleep. My husband also felt the same. He said the MSG level was too much and was more than the food in the Chinese restaurant. Not acceptable!). The triple chocolate mousse my husband ordered was very tasty (4.5 stars). But my Apple Cobbler with vanilla ice cream was a bit too sweet for my teeth. 2) Service: I understand that staff shortage is a problem for many restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic time. The patio tables were served by one server with her assistant. We asked for cutlery (knives and forks) and our server kept forgetting it. My husband had to use the tea spoon for his soup. Our water bottle wasnt filled. Basically the service wasnt attentive. But again, we understand this due to staff shortage. But I think my friend still gave good tips that made her smile! 3) Ambiance: That night was very hot. We sweated while we ate. As the sky got darker, our legs got bitten by mosquitos. Well, it was time to leave the patio. Anyway, still a good place for dining! Hope that the kitchen will use less MSG (or prefer not to use any MSG at all)d
Once such an amazing restaurant - such a disappointment today!!! I had the Scallops dinner which was $36 and consisted of tiny scallops no bigger than the tip of my finger - and there were only 3 of them, artfully arranged on top of a huge pile of peas. I would have expected 3 tiny scallops for a $5 appetizer, not a $36 entree. I was not alone, every person in our group that ordered scallops got the same treatment.
I d like to start by saying our waiter was kind and great, however our food was absolutely garbage. My husband sent his back but I m always too nice to do so. My scrambled eggs were dehydrated and looked like dried out play dough, my home-fries were stale, my coffee was extremely bitter, my sausages were cold and I ll never know if my bread was stale because it was toasted so at least I had that.
Wonderful place. I first visited this place with a friend of mine to attend one of the jazz concerts in the lobby. This hotel has been my favourite place in Ottawa ever sense. Friendly staff and extra clean environment.
The dinner was delicious, both drinks and the main dishes. however we waited 1.5 hour for our meal and it wasnt even that busy, my plate was served lukewarm at most.
Hotel room was nice but worn with scuffed walls and a clock radio for a super old iPod. the washroom ran out of TP as only a quarter toll with no extra was left. Seems to need a face lift.
We attended the 6-course dinner at the restaurant on December 31st for the 8 pm seating. We had had brunch at Perspectives several times and enjoyed it immensely. Our dinner experience was rather disappointing. First, for those arriving from outside it is not obvious where the coat check is and there was no person assigned to giving guests access to It. Waiters and waitresses took turns doing this in between serving food and drinks at the tables. There seemed to be a shortage of tables even though we had arrived In advance. We were given a table just by the entrance where guests came and went. The background noise combined with the jazz from the lounge made it near impossible for my wife and I to chat. I am fond of jazz but it s particular irregular form mixed with a high level of background buzz rendered it aversive. We requested a change of table but this could not be done we were told. In fairness we were offered a wine pairing free of charge but declined as we drink very little. The 6-course meal had a few dishes of mention including the white bean and parsnip soup as well as the veal and prosciutto appetizer. Otherwise the dishes were lacklustre rather than memorable experiences in any way. This was especially true of the bourride, a fish stew. We had ordered this but the waiter arrived with rib-eye for us in error. This we returned and then we waited for an extended period of time to finally receive bourride that was not warm and lacked in substance and taste. We actually wondered if they had run out of seafood. Needless to say we will not be returning for future festive occasions.
Recently went here for a brunch. The food was outstanding. The waiter was terrible though. We had to repeatedly ask for basic things, such as a knife and fork, more coffee and finally just to pay the bill and leave. For such a fancy place the mood was spoiled by the lacking staff.
Fantastic decor, fresh original recipes!
Service was absolutely terrible. Food was ok but arrived cold, no cutlery, had to wait tio long to get the utensils and food cooled down even more. Waiter never came back to ask if we needed anything. It was like we were a bother. Ambience is fabulous so its so sad the the service was so terrible and food just passible . Rita
We had our wedding reception lunch at the Perspectives Restaurant at the Brookstreet Hotel. The food was excellent, and the service was top notch! Caroline, the events manager, was fantastic. She has a talent for alleviating wedding stress, making wedding couples feel like royalty, and went above and beyond to make our pandemic wedding reception (which was just lunch on the patio) extra special. All the servers were very attentive and addressed us by our names. We did an a la carte menu, which we found very good value, and the salmon and steak were both perfectly cooked.
Recently went there for our 15th wedding anniversary. It was sort of a regular occurrence for us. This time we passed the check-in desk and found that the restaurant was closed. The desk questioned us and said that we had to enter via the Bar area. We were led to the patio instead of the restaurant we had booked. It was 15 Celsius and my wife wasnt comfortable so they took us inside. We were seated at a table in the bar area. The chairs were not made for dining, too leaned back. We ordered drinks and that went OK, we ordered our meals. The waiter went a different table at first with them and back to the bar when he got it wrong. He finally delivered it and said, i noticed that you had no utensils so I thought it wasnt for you. A waitress then went to get us knives and forks. She asked if that was OK, we told her that we ordered a bottle of wine and she said OH!, Ill look into it. All in all, it must have been the second string running it that day. I ordered the Prime Rib, when it came it did remind me of the 70s Ponderosa Steak house steaks, thin and tasteless. Needless to say we wont be going back. Its too bad as we had some very good memories there in the past. I guess COVID has struck a fine restaurant again.
We love Perspectives! The food and service are fantastic. We have been regular customers since the hotel opened and have never been disappointed. :)
December 12, 2020, who would have believed it: after much deliberation we finally collected on a long-standing Xmas gift certificate (diner for two) and dined and wined in style under the careful scrutiny of Covid19 safety measures thanks to Perspectives@BrookStreet. It was most enjoyable, so uplifting for us oldies- a real eye-opener into the challenges that all the staff there had to meet in order to make our brief visit so enjoyable. Thanks to you all: our receptionist and Jerome Gerald our server! Like in past visits to this very classy place, we experienced great hospitality, food and wine- and while this time was in isolation we still felt that this visit really helped us get away from it all. Thank you! We sincerely hope the Covid pressures, all too real, will pass soon. Cheers Vern & Judy
Terrible food, stay away. We ordered different breakfast plates. For the eggs Benedict the eggs were hard boiled, and the only other thing on the plate were frozen potato cubes. For the Chicken and Waffles there was a one bite micro waffle and chicken bites. That was my meal and two of the chicken bites tasted rotten. The third person had the classic breakfast with burnt chewy toast and $4.50 coffee. The average price for our food was $17. Unacceptable at these prices.
Good service but eggs bennys were more like hard boiled eggs lol
My wife and I had the Boxing Day brunch and wERE served attentively served by Edwardo. Great table looking out onto the course with fresh snow gently falling. A pretty scene. The Brunch had to have been more than 30 different plates and the breakfast table another twenty. All food was very good and presented beautifully. Another ten or more deserts were presented includei creme de brûlé. I tried three. So good.
The quality of service and the food has gone down. We ordered a single malt scotch and it was served wrong, and at 10bucks a pop that hurts. Our meal was so over priced and not very good. I will not go back.
The burgers here are amazing. Get the sweet potato fries, even if you dont normally like them. They come with a mayo dip and are the perfect compliment to the sweet burger. If you absolutely have to avoid them, then get the side soup, you will be much happier than if you got the side salad.
Can be a bit pricy, but really delicious food. They also have special menus set up for special occasions like their mothers/fathers day brunch or Valentines Day dinner.
My favourite place for lunch..
Delicious Salmon
I ordered the taco and it was good. Ill go back to try the other food there.
We arrived here for brunch because of the reputation of this restaurant in Kanata. But the waitress couldn t seat us because we didn t have reservation; however the HALF of the restaurant was empty when we arrived there. She said that if we want we could seat ourselves in the Bar area disconnected from he Prospectives restaurant (where the staffs were still cleaning the tables in that area and we saw flies flying around). How could you seat your guests in a under-cleaning Bar area while you still charge them $35 per person ?! This is not the service that I would expect considering the price of this brunch! Moreover, this was a very lack of constructive suggestion where the staff who direct the traffic at the entrance was very unprofessional in terms of Problem-solving skill and Customer service skill!! So I quickly went to the OpenTable website to reserve a table online and in fact there were PLENTY of tables available still online, but I don t know why the lady in the front wouldn t seat us?! I then showed her my reservation confirmation email, but she said that there was still no space (again the restaurant was HALF empty!) and still couldn t seat us ?! Where was the professionalism of your staffs?! At least if we had made the reservation, and your restaurant was still HALF empty, you should do the best you can to accommodate your customers request!! Especially that you charge $35+tax per person for your expensive brunch! Very Disappointed and your waitress who directed the traffic this Sunday morning should receive more training on Basics of Customer Services!
The service is great but this place is way too overpriced. I liked that they accommodated my moms food allergies without any issues, but they burnt her carrots. Thankfully the waiter we had brought her new vegetables after he saw that. We didnt have to say anything. The cost of the wine insanely marked up (my wife noticed a bottle she gets at the LCBO for $15 on the menu for $52) and the food is alright but not fantastic. If money isnt an issue and dont mind overpaying for things, go for it, but I wouldnt suggest to anyone to go here. Its not worth it. The food isnt that great and the portions are tiny.
Expensive, but the food is good.
Excellent restaurant - great food, reasonably priced great service, beautiful surrounding- well be back for sure.
What can I say. This is a 5 star plus top drawer hotel. When you first arrive, you are greeted as a guest, not a customer. The front desk gal was very cheerful and informative. I mentioned that my daughter and I were visiting hotels, as she was deciding on the hotel for her guest and to pre book the honey moon suite. The gal offered a tour of the hotel, as we mentioned that prior to the wedding, the groom-to-be and his groomsmen would be staying here for a few days and that our photographer would be taking pics. The tour was fantastic and there are many options for pics. Needless to say, we are pre-booked
best
I really wanted to give the Sunday Brunch a high review but I was generally unimpressed. The cost for the brunch ($32) is mainly the variety of food not the quality. The first thing I ordered was the eggs Benedict and was disappointed right off the hop. Some things were ok and some things werent. Im unsure if I would go here again for their brunch. Too bad as we live right beside there and it was our first time experiencing this.
Dinner on both Friday and Saturday nights, food was awesome, and our server, Allan, (had him both nights) was excellent. Highly recommend the port chop. Best I have ever had.
A little pricey for what they serve, Food OK. Staff very professional. The usual hotel fare but the restaurant is very up scale finishings. The Blues Bar lounge is fantastic for the blues connoisseur.
Came for brunch at an odd time and everything was a little stale. Ive been when theres more people though and its good. Service is always excellent.
The Sashimi platter was the best sushi Ive had in a very long time. Its not listed on the menu, but ask the waitress and she can order it.
Fast and courteous service at lunchtime. The menu is not very original but everything is good. The daily special is always very good and more sought after than the items on the menu.
Came here for lunch and just got their burger with a salad. The salad was quite good, having dried berries and almond slivers, as well as just the right amount of dressing. The burger was okay; the patty was nice and juicy, though the flavour of the onion jam, mayo, or smoky ketchup didnt really come through at all. The service was fairly slow considering the restaurant was not at all busy, and it was a business lunch. Overall, it was a pretty good meal, though I dont think Id bother getting the burger again personally, but that is just my preference.
We arrived at 9:40am with 2 hungry kids in tow and they would not allow us to sit. Told us that breakfast was over at 10:30 and they could not seat us that close to closing time...very very disappointed! We could have been in and out with time to spare. Didn t offer us a take out option or anything for the kids. The ladies at the door need to get better customer service skills!
Fantastic service
Food is super disappointing and over-priced. I got the tacos and the tortilla shells were overcooked (burned) so the charred taste ruined the entire taste of the tacos. The fish were also overcooked and were mostly crispy batter with little actual fish in it. Even when I mentioned the burned tortilla shells to the waitress, she didnt do a thing about it. Really disappointing.
Love the decors and the atmosphere. Food are ok, not too impressive for that price. It could have been better if the servers separate young family with small kids (who squealed and ran around for their entire time) and couples. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and I saw other couples who just wanted a romantic dinner.
New management and service staff at Perspectives and they have turned the place around based on our most recent experience. Friendly, personable and very attentive service that went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Food was amazing as usual. Nothing too over the top, just the right amount of unique on classic dishes done with a bit of flair and exceptional flavor. Cant wait to return!
It was good but there are better options for the price.
Delicious food, great ambience and amazing attentive service. Definitely recommend for business lunches or dinners.
Excellent food and service. Well deserved 5 stars
One of the best Sunday brunch spots in town.
Bit pricy, portions are small
There service was slow but the food was good.
Expensive by delicious!
Service is slower than I would have liked but the food is really excellent. Try the Thai influenced seafood chowder.
Nice. Not worth the price
Didnt enjoy my food unfortunately. I felt sick after eating the lobster pasta, it had an odd sweet taste to it that I did not enjoy. Service was terribly slow as well, but good at most. The dessert was not bad though but the food was not to my liking. I wont be returning. Nice scenery and friendly, funny staff.
Great Restaurant!
We went to their excellent and tasty sunday brunch buffet yesterday with some friends. They offer a wide variety of delicious fare with live jazz guitar soloist to accompany.
The service is good. The chairs are not the most comfortable. The setup is nice. The food is OK. It is not a restaurant that I recommend to people, but it is it is nice. for the price point, I think the food would have to better match my tastes to get a higher rating.
Good brunch. Good service
Very nice, classy and big. It may be a little too classy for my tastes but it lives up to its expectations. Very expensive but the food is great and the hotel is one of the best in the area.
The brunch is impressive . Dinner is expensive, high quality, never disappointed.
We were very pleased with both our dinner and the breakfast buffet. For dinner we sat out on the patio which was very nice. The servers were very attentive. The sushi amuse bouche was great and our appetizers were delicious (tuna and borscht). Our main dishes did not live up to the appetizers. I had a hand-made squash ravioli with curry and the flavours just didnt seem to go well together. Dessert and drink menu were great. I would eat here again.
