Great local Kanata takeout! Highly recommend the General Tao’s Tofu - puffy fried tofu and cashews in a delicious sauce - very pleased with the amount of Vegetarian options they offer and will always order from here! Not every place has a wide variety of tofu / meatless dishes.
Spring rolls did not taste good. Very oily, and tasting of oil that was well past it's smoking point. Acrid. No plum sauce to cover up the taste. Rest of the food was comparable to other local eateries. We recommend Dragon Fortune Delight. Only 5 minutes away. Delicious egg rolls.
I ordered Yang Chow fried rice and general tao. I can confidently say these items are 5 stars in taste, quality, and portions. We’ll definitely be back.
We ordered food from Ting's Kitchen several times. It was consistently good, and the portions are a generous size. Plus, the prices are very reasonable.
I ordered takeout pad Thai… this is awful. It taste like there is sweet and sour sauce on the noodles with a bunch of crushed peanuts…and there was no chicken or vegetable in the order. This is not pad Thai. Horrible and not edible.
If you're coming here to get super authentic East Asian food, you're in the wrong place. However everything we have ordered has tasted good and is really well-priced for the portion you get. They have a bunch of vegetarian options, our go-to orders are the Veggie pho and mushroom fried rice. Though will say that the veggies are a bit repetitive across any dish that has veggies. Also, wish they had combinations plates that are vegetarian/vegan, with noodle options. Overall we appreciate the friendly customer service and free delivery option. Recommend checking them out :)
Wonderful value for solid food! The pho broth was flavourful with loads of meat and veggies. The Kim chi had the perfect tang and flavour. Overall it was a great choice for an office lunch. Will definitely order again!
We ordered 2 combo plates and potstickers. Very disappointed. First combo was sweet and sour chicken (4 balls) beef and broccoli, rice and an egg roll. The plate was about 80% rice. The chicken balls tasted like they had been boiled in the cherry sauce. Beef and broccoli was just oyster sauce and inedible beef. The broccoli was the least offensive part of the whole plate. The second combo had another ridiculous rice portion (see pictures), sweet and sour chicken, and general tao chicken. Again, tasteless. The potstickers were generic as were the egg rolls. I'm pretty sure both were pre packaged and just heated up in the restaurant. I will never order from here again.
Ordered from Uber Eats tonight because we live in the area and wanted to try a local place. The chicken fried rice from our combo orders smelled and tasted so burnt we both couldn t eat it. Will never order from here again. Save your money and order from somewhere else.
They make really lovely dishes! Service is very nice too!
When there about a week ago to get 5 combination plates I gue that how they call it anyways when food was ready I ask the owner if I can have hot sauce he said we dont have hot sauce I ask again and same reply so I Said not hot sauce he then reply extra charge for it and very rude would not recommend this place food is not really good anyways will not go back.
It was for pick up. Was not clean
Yang Chow Fried Rice & General Tao are 5 star Combination plate is excellent value Food : 5/5
Tings Kitchen is our go to place for a delicious Thai takeout meal. The staff are always friendly and the food is delicious.
Order Cantonese chow mein (broad noodles). Best ever, sauce was delicious and vegetables crisp. Plenty of meat and large shrimp. Well worth the price. Will definitely order more dishes going forward.
Very good food. I really love the pad Thai and the laap. The food is good and affordable. The portions is also very good. Would recommend so much!! It s a great find for someone who wants to try something new or someone who wants to try great food!!
My go to is beef broccoli, lo mein, and egg rolls. Chicken fried rice is pretty good too. Prices decent and beef tender as can be. Have yet to have a bad order. Its my go to if Im feeling Chinese food. Only thing they could improve on is thier plum sauce as its a tad bit to much vinegar flavor
Ordered pad thai. Noodles were mushy and it was very sweet. Walked into the restaurant and they have it barricaded and it was all smokey.
Ordered a large amount of food tonight for our corporate meeting it was incredibly good. Everything was warm and tasted excellent. Very nice, we will be ordering from here again!!!!!
This was probably by far the worst Chinese food I ve had. The beef and broccoli was extremely soggy/mushy, as was the chop suey dish. The chicken balls were extremely overcooked with a minute amount of chicken. The rice would have been decent if it weren t for it being completely soaked in soy sauce. I will not be a repeat customer.
Wanted to like this place as convenient in location. Ordered the pot stickers (pretty good) and dinner for two - chicken balls, fried rice and almond guy ding. Here s the mystery- how can food that looks pretty good be so bad???? Inedible - a few bites and then threw it all out. Won t be back. Dragon Fortune up the street from them far better.
It was the worse food. No one ate their meal. We ordered for 4 and got an assortment to share. All the meals were horrible. I was so embarrassed. We had it a second time when a couple surprised us with dinner also take out and it was the same. We will never go back again.
As a high-school student who s spent 4+ years in the area, I can confidently say that Tings kitchen is the best lunch spot I ve been to. I highly recommend eating here if your looking for a quick and cheap Asian dining experience, but with extremely high quality and bountiful food proportions.
Terrible Pad Thai, sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee.
Delicious salt and pepper tofu! I am addicted Vegetarian options: Great variety of vegetarian options and so tasty!
so happy I found this place. 10 out 10 for me. so good cant wait to order again.
One of the better Chinese Canadian carry out places. I make the 25m drive to go here regularly.
Horrible. Save your money and tastebuds. Ordered a Thai chicken and pineapple rice. Yea ok I didn t expect much and this is what I got. A few pieces of diced old chicken and canned pineapple in Chinese fried brown rice and an egg roll which was just ok. Yuck. No veg, and very limited pineapple and chicken. Delivery service was fast though. $21
Only tried their wonton soups and egg rolls for snacks and it was great! Good price for the amount of wontons in your soup. Will have to try their main dishes next time.
Amazing Broccoli I decided to order chicness food for the first time in about 5 years , Ive chose to order from Ting Kitchen, Ive had a craving for broccoli & egg rolls. Very Good, Tasty.
Fantastic Chinese food
Generally good, although last time I ordered hot and sour soup, it was like someone spilled white pepper into the soup extremely hot.
Pad Thai should not have the same texture and taste as Chef Boyardee Spaghetti!
Great meal, good portion sizes, food ready on time, we will be back!
I had an extremely disappointing experience with my recent order from Tings Kitchen through Uber Eats. The Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice I ordered were both of very poor quality, to the extent that they were inedible and had to be thrown away. To resolve the issue, I initially contacted the restaurant to request a refund, as that was where I had placed my order. However, I was informed that the approval for the refund needed to come from Uber Eats because I had ordered through their platform. This has added to my frustration, as it feels like a convoluted process for something that should have been more straightforward. I am genuinely disappointed with this entire experience, and I regret to say that I wont be ordering from this restaurant in the future due to the poor food quality and the complexity of the refund process.
Amazing food
Food was not high quality. Ordered fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Rice was heavily loaded with soy sauce and the chicken for some reason used the dark chicken meat making it taste soggy and gross. Low quality food overall.
There there was way to much rice and very dry I know I will not go back again .and not enough of the other like veg and meat .did not like at all
Made pickup order for Christmas Eve. They we so backed up we had to cancel. Gave them another try. Ordered two D combination plates. Way too much rice. Rice was dry and seemed like day old. Chicken balls were tough and had some gristle. The beef was tough and gristle and inedible. That was our first and definitely our last try of their food.
Do not order Dim Sum here. No flavour, doughy, and very disappointing. Also the Pad Thai tastes like it s drenched in ketchup Pho is mediocre.
I love the food. So nice.
Just ordered several dishes from here by friend recommended. Good taste for sure. The dishes are big enough as we expected. My kids love the fry rice so?much.
Great food, great people
I was born and raised in traditional Chinese culture. I eat Chinese food growing up, and I eat my food with chopsticks daily. If you are looking for an authentic Chinese food, I probably won t recommend this restaurant to you. However, if you are looking for a reasonable North American Chinese Food in our neighbourhood, this restaurant will serve you well. Whenever my wife is busy, she would buy from Ting s Kitchen. We ordered food from this restaurant probably 10 times during the pandemic. I really don t understand some of the reviews here. I grew up in Asia. I know the food is perfectly OK and is within my expectation. The price is affordable and the portion is generous. I love the General Tao Chicken and the Szechuan Spicy Noodles with Beef. I love its fried rice too.
Friendly staff, great presentation, delicious food!
Clean and the order was tasty
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. They are cheats. They advertise chicken dishes but send you a box filled with veggies. When I called they explain that it is 20% protein and 80% veggies but list it as a chicken dish.
Good good good price
You get what you pay for. While this place is priced a little lower than other asian restaurants in the area, the portions of meat in the stir fries and curries are not that great (may be 20-25% at most.. it feels more like lots of veggies with a bit of meat .. typically the other way round in other asian restaurants). It still tastes good and I am happy to have an option where I dont pay an arm and a leg for a meal for a family when you just dont have it in you to cook but if they increased the amount of meat by even 20% it would make the dishes a lot more palatable (hell I am happy to have the price go up by a dollar if that would some respectable meat portions). Suffice to say if I am going to have company, I will likely not be ordering for here. Tldr: Tastes good, meat portions not that great in non-veg options
Not impressed with the Tom Yum soup! It was not Yum at all. I tried them again, giving another chance but all the food was sub par. I will not be ordering from them again.
We ordered dim sum, egg rolls, Szechuan beef, fried rice, chicken balls, garlic ribs and deep fried tofu. They were all excellent. This is by far the best Chinese food we have ever ordered in Ottawa. We will definitely be ordering again soon.
This takeaway still haunts my dreams! The sweet and sour chicken balls were so tough you could barely cut through them and there was no flavouring in the sweet and sour sauce! The main was served in a gloopy sauce that I had to throw away.. it was inedible! Would rather eat plain chicken and rice !!
Didnt like it. Your pad thati taste like ketchup and your fried tofu is very very very salty
Got the Szechuan beef as well as the Shanghai chicken noodles. Both were basically tasteless, in a weird slimy sauce. Overloaded with cheap vegetables, not very much meat in either dish. Very disappointing, did not even finish half of either dish before throwing it out. Most enjoyable part was the fortune cookie. Would not go back.
The staff are lovely, but the food has not been the same since they changed name and ownership. The quality has cheapened greatly and you can tell theyve cut corners, even in just the variety of vegetables they use, or the lack thereof. My sweet and sour pork was mostly fat or hard and stringy morsels, with next to no pineapple, mostly onions and the strangest tasting green bell peppers Ive ever eaten. Even the eggroll was disappointing. Im sad to say it wasnt a one-off and so Ive stopped going to a once favourite restaurant.
Food was excellent and prices were very reasonable. I can highly recommend and will order again!
Food way dry, on the one hand salty. Not good. shrimps were also overcooked.
Like a few people on here I was hesitant due to the reviews. I moved to Kanata 2 years ago and have been searching for a Chinese food restaurant that isnt incredibly bland. I am happy to say that Ive finally found that place! Dinner arrived in 17 minutes, the delivery girl was extremely pleasant and I got a free fried rice. Id also recommend ordering directly from the restaurant and not through any Skip, Ubereats, or any other app. It sounds like a lot of these reviews come down to personal preference. Heres my take: 1. The chicken fried rice was perfect fresh and soft, not hard at all. Not salty, perfectly seasoned with no need to crack open any soy sauce 2. The chop suey was perfectly cooked, with ample amount of chicken breast. 3. Chicken balls were crispy outside, soft inside, great dough to chicken ratio. 4. Sauce is kind of too thick on almond guy ding and chicken and broccoli (but would order again anyways) All that to say, Im never ordering from another place in Kanata South again, Ive finally found my go to place.
Probably one of the worst Chinese restaurants Ive been to in Ottawa. I ordered the combo plate with general tao and substituted it for the lemon chicken. I got a total of 4 pieces of chicken and about 3 1/2 cups of fried rice. The ratio was just completely off and the quality was terrible. Chicken balls were mostly bread. 10/10 would not recommend.
Ordered 4 different combo plates. The containers felt heavy when we received them to find out it was mostly chicken fried rice like 3 cups per combo plate. There wasnt much amounts of the sides. Didnt have a lot of flavor was pretty bland.
Love Tings. Huge portions and delicious food. Love their pad Thai and spring rolls.
Just ordered some beef fried rice. It taste and smell like leftover fried rice that just got warmed up. Will never return
Great Pad Thai!!
Ordered pho and a combo plate tonight ! Everything was delicious! Will def be doing back !
This is my absolute favorite Chinese food restaurant great dishes such as crispy beef general Tao Cantonese chow mein and many more all great buys all will taste amazing
Very bland and flavourless. All of the meat (chicken, beef, and shrimp) were all dry and over cooked. Even the chicken fried rice and chicken balls were plain and tasteless. Very disappointing when you have to douse your chinese food with sweet and sour sauce to add flavour.
Absolutely love the salt and pepper tofu and the stir fry veggies from here.
This place is amazing!! The prices is fantastic and portions are huge, and always so hot and fresh. They will go above and beyond for anything you need.
Im new to the Kanata area and was looking for decent Chinese takeout. Ive tried a few places that left a lot to be desired. The Cantonese style chow mein, pork fried rice and the shrimp in lobster sauce were delicious. The flavours for the shrimp dish were there but it could use more ground pork and more shrimp to take it to the next level. Ill definitely order from here again.
I order from Ting s often, and it s always great - affordable prices, delicious food, and large portions. Yesterday, I had a really large order for a special family gathering, and they went out of their way to have it ready on time and included some thoughtful additions, despite being incredibly busy for the long weekend. Thanks!
The pad thai had way too much sauce and the sauce was just super sweet like a dessert, no depth of flavor. Spring rolls, on the other hand were very bland. Store bought spring rolls are much tastier than these restaurant ones. Overall food was so bad that i was left hungry. Last place for Asian food in Kanata.
This place has the best food! Fresh~Large portions~Deliciousness!
I ordered a combination plate and the rice was dry, chicken balls tasted like dough, also more dough then chicken and General Taos chicken had no spice to it. Its actually the worse chinese food that I ever tasted. I will never order from there again
Ordered directly from their website and food came within an hour. Great service and most importantly food was excellent!!
Excellent service, excellente food, highly recommend.
Great food. Fast service. Awesome egg rolls.
Husband loved the Combo platter and I loved the Pad Thai. My new favorite Pad Thai in Ottawa! So Yummy - that I woke up excited to eat the leftovers for breakfast.
Food was alright. Ordered the Curry Chicken (green) and it comes with no rice, which was a huge disappointment as I know had to cook - which was the entire point of ordering out. Will not be ordering from here again.
Very good food!
Ordered their Pad Thai and pitched it in the trash. It was very dry, a big clump of starchy rice noddles. They should rename the dish Pad Dry
Food and service were great. My favorite Chinese food restaurant in Kanata.
Bland and oily. Not good value either, for vegetarian options, rice or noodles needed to be ordered separately and they only have vegetables or tofu
Stopped in today, with my cousins. Three of us, we had hurricane cocktails, , lobster Mac n Cheese, jerk chicken with rice n peas, and oxtail. The vibe was nice , I haven t been out since the pandemic, definitely the type of place I would come to for lunch, or a late night nite cap. The music was nice , and the food was delicious. Also, we sat outside , a cute patio facing the street. I will definitely be back. And I recommend it to all my brothaz and sistaz In the nation s capital. I m a foodie and a chef, and it s nice to see a hip likkle Jamaican ting In the market, my cousin knew the chef and was visiting from Montreal, she recommended we come check it out and I m happy we did, will definitely be back, and thank y all for the good food, and good vybz.
Good portions, but absolutely bland and tastless. We were hoping this restaurant would be great due to its overly positive reviews, but how can you manage make general tao chicken and sweet and sour pork tasteless?!? No salt, not tangy at all. Same with the pad thai. Everything falls flat.
Not even in my top 20 also double check your order, they forget items allot
We used Skip the Dishes and ordered 6 spring rolls, veggie fried rice, Kung pao chicken, General Tso chicken and Szechuan beef noodles. I had to google how to spell Szechuan, I screwed it up so bad my phone didn t even bother trying to autocorrect it. Anyway. The food was great! Happy with the portions and the flavours. Spring rolls were the best I ve had in this city (not that I m some sort of connoisseur). It came with this tangy sweet and sour sauce that was really good. It easily fed three of us for supper, and we had enough for lunch the next day. The only reason this isn t a 5 star review is because there wasn t a ton of chicken in the kung pao. There was lots of vegetables, which was great, but compared to the General Tso, there was probably 1/3 of the meat. To top it off, the fortune in my fortune cookie literally said you are a wonderful person , which inflated my ego and caused my wife to roll her eyes in disgust. Will order from here again.
Just ordered takeout from Tings today: General Taos Chicken, Singapore noodles, Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls and Hot & Sour Soup. Everything was delicious and portions were big! Egg Rolls are closed end, which I prefer over open end Egg Rolls and the filling was very flavourful, spring rolls were really good too. The General Taos Chicken was tender but it would have been better with more sauce and spicier. My favourite dish was the Hot & Sour Soup - it had the perfect balance of flavors. Tings is now my new favourite Chinese restaurant in Kanata. Cant wait to try all their other dishes.
One star is too generous . I spent 60$ at this place and the entire order went in the garbage . Flavourless , underseasoned and inedible . Skip the dishes gives this place a rating of 9.2, clearly misleading . This restaurant had terrible ratings and changed its name ! Beware !
Good food, large portion.
Ordered chinese food there for the first time. Egg rolls werent too bad but spring rolls not good. Fried rice and chop suey were horrible. Chicken balls were hard as rock. Will never order there again.
I picked up food from this place. It was quick and easy. I liked their stir fries... over all a heresy find
This is my first time ordered from Tings Kitchen. The food is excellent and portions are good. Price is very reasonable. Me and my girlfriend have enjoyed the food . I will definitely order from here again.
