I drove faraway at night to come here and the hours are incorrect

The taste was below expectations, didnt like the quality of meat used for my sandwich and sauce was just mayo.

You ever feel like going to Disney land but then think about the long lineups and get discouraged? Well, let me introduce to you the stream lined service at this place that will make you realize you dont have to spend a small fortune to wait in the magical world of Disney. Theres a new idea implemented at this Digbys right here in Kanata. It wont cost you copious amounts of money, its local. Call at 7:09pm (19:09 for the folks who prefer) get told, food will be ready for pickup in 15 minutes. So far so good right? Well thats what I thought too. But I was FAR from understanding what 15 minutes mean in the aquatic world. See 15 minutes means, place your order arrive in 30 minutes just to make sure if they were busy things would still be good. At this point and time in the ride experience I pay for my meal expecting to get some good food to go home and enjoy. Thats when the ride really picked up! See somewhere in that half hour between the person who took the phone call, the scuba dive team, the captain of the ship, the port authority and the cook they couldnt figure out how to get a meal of fish and chips ready. Here i was thinking that it was their specialty considering its in the companies name. But alas, I was incorrect. At that time after starting to clean a table or two, they were rather busy with four guests left in the building, the hostess went to the kitchen to check in on the meal I had ordered. Thats when I get to the curveball of the experience. Can you believe it wasnt even started? How could that be? I must have time traveled! Doc Brown where are you? I leave due to not wanting to listen more to the employees discuss that the meal is not made at all. I had to take a break from the exilerating thrill ride at that time. My sheer excitement couldnt be held any longer. I left and came back in another 30 minutes and viola! My hot meal was ready for me. Only took one hour! My best guess is the fish was super fresh! After all they did have time to go grab it out of the Ottawa river in that time.

Why are you putting hair in peoples food? Do you not want certain type of looking people there? My kids could have ingested that. It is extremely gross and grotesque of you.

Fish and chips were good. The service was OK, one server and a number of active tables. The interior of the restaurant could really use some improvements. It was clean but well worn benches and such. Would definitely return again as i like good food, and dont really care about decor.

The food and service are both fantastic . The atmosphere could use some TLC . Possibly, it may be due to the type of cleaners us3d . But you can barely see out of the windows as they are very cloudy. Best place ever amazing food and great service

All the food is tasty and halal. I d personally recommend the burger, grilled chicken and the salmon. Make sure you get the seafood sauce as well. The garlic bread is also lovely. Ali is also a great guy and his customer service is on point.

Digbys is the bomb diggity. Chicken club and the fish and chips are my typical go-to. Burgers great too. Theyre also halal AND open late!

Make sure to ask for sauces if you do takeout. I dont understand how they can pack fried shrimp without cocktail sauce. How else would you eat it? The food was just plain and tasteless. The chicken tendies and fries were average at best.

Welcomed with warm greeting to an undersea treasure chest. Great selection, prices, and quantity is great. I always get the wings and calamari and fries. Fish and chip Tuesdays is a must. The owner is hands on and amazing, will be back.

Mashallah the entire menu is halal. For a halal restaurant the waitress dress code could be a bit more modest. I got a beef burger platter and loved everything. My spouse got a chicken burger platter and didn t like it at all. The chicken burger seemed like something u would get from Costco.

Made an order through SkipTheDishes using their online menu but my order was canceled for no apparent reason. The customer service when I came to the store to pick up the order was horrible. The person was annoyed that she had to check why the order was not ready. My colleagues, whose orders were fulfilled, said that the fries had a bitter taste and smelled like old oil. Disgusting place, never again!

What a strange dining experience. First I ll say that our service was wonderful. Our server, Robin, was delightful! The food was decent.. greasy but generally that s what I expected of a fish n chips restaurant. The menu is difficult to understand. The option to ADD popcorn shrimp, we were told later, was not to ADD but to REPLACE the fries so we made a separate order for popcorn shrimp (it was not delicious). The strange part of the experience was a large group of people in the restaurant that was eating food not on the menu. It looked like take out pizza and schwarma platters and cans of pop. The group was disruptive walking back and forth in the restaurant and speaking loudly over tables of guests. Very unlikely that I would go back or recommend.

Hi, just had the fish burger platter... ordered one only and asked the server to get it cut in half if possible , she said ok and didnt say anything further....the burger was excellent but when we got our bill and additional $3 were added which was sharing cost....what the heck!!! I asked the lady if and she said my managers orders ..... This was only at requesting for the burger to be cut in half??? This is absurd...at least we should have been informed beforehand....

We ve been ordering from here for a couple of years now. This owner is probably the only honest business owner left in this place. Other food places have jacked up their prices like crazy but this owner is not taking advantage. The food is always amazing, always on point. We were never disappointed. His staff is nice too. I love the old school feel to this restaurant too. This place and owner deserve a thousand stars across the board!!!! Love this place and love that there s still humble humans around us.

So we are honestly fish and chips lovers.. We had tested the real British /UK there so we always have high expectations Having halal fish in chips in Canada isn t easy though fish is halal but mostly the batter is the issue ,also the cross contamination fear in non halal restaurants Once we even travelled from Ottawa to Brockville just because someone told us there s a famous fish and chips shop just to find out that there oil had issues Long story right ? So anyways someone recommended us digbys for fish and chips so we got excited to try it out and how lucky have we got that the fish and chips are awesome and tastes authentic !! So if anyone really love fish and chips this is your place and don t forget to try their club sandwich ..these are the two picks on our over visit

Digbys is our fav fish and chips place in Ottawa. On our last visit, they got really busy just after our order was put in. There was a mix up and we ended up waiting about 30 mins. They realized the mistake and did they offer me a discount to make it right? No. They comped the whole meal. These folks care about their customers!

Service was fabulous. In a society where quality of service is consistently bad across the board, this restaurant stands out for exceptional service. Food was great and the value was even better. Thank you for staying original. Will visit again soon.

I had the all you can eat fish and chips and the fish was very greasy and It all came out of me rudely 2 hours later. My buddy had the wings and he said they were good. If you find a fish and chip store, your French fries shouldn t come frozen from a bag. Won t be back.

Being from the East Coast, I was looking for a little taste of home. Good comfort food at reasonable prices.

Food is really great especially for the price. But I would definitely return because of the service! Our server Robyn, might be one of the best servers I ve ever met. I love the atmosphere in general but boy did Robyn make the experience so much better. Will definitely return just because of Robyn. (I d honestly give her my kidney if she asked she was sweet) Kid-friendliness: Server was so sweet, and has options for kids!

The dining experience was honestly the best I had ever seen! When we walked in it was super cozy and inviting. The burgers were big especially for the price and were extremely juicy. Our first visit and I wanted to like it, the reviews were pretty good. First impression was disappointing ... its a diner - bright lighting and a TV in the corner. More of a lunch place. Not what I was looking for. We had a reservation (unnecessary) but the hostess wanted to seat us right at the front door, on cold wet night, with the inner door propped open. We asked for a booth further inside, but had to wait while they wiped it down. It didnt take long, but its not as if they were that busy. It was my birthday and I really wanted scallops and a glass of wine. When I went to order, a calamari starter and the scallops, I was told they had no scallops or fried oysters. This was a Saturday night at 7pm. HUGE disappointment, as Id been looking forward to this dinner all day. And my second choice would have been the oysters. The waitress recommended the shrimp, so I went with that, but I didnt feel like shrimp, or fish and chips. Next disappointment - this restaurant isnt licensed, so forget the wine. I asked if they had hot lemon tea. No, just green tea and orange pekoe. I just ordered an iced tea. At that point, I should have just said, lets go somewhere else, but it was a miserable night and I didnt feel like driving around. Next disappointment... the waitress arrived with our order, having completely forgotten about the calamari. We didnt reminder her, as there was a pile of potatoes on our plates. Next disappointment... my husbands crab cakes were not fresh - just pre-frozen, hard-crusted, thin hockey pucks with hardly any crab in them. Next disappointment... my lemon butter shrimp were overcooked and dry. The garlic potatoes had blobs of some white sauce which was bitter, as if the garlic hadnt been cooked, and some of the potatoes were undercooked. We passed on dessert and went home for our own glass of wine and dessert. I suppose this place might be fine for fish and chips, but it was just awful for what we were looking for, and for what we got.

Your local diner with friendly staff that knows in advance what you want, everything is Halal, they open late, highly recommend:) Destiny is our favorite waiter, she always greats us with a wide smile and prepares her specialty drink, The place is famous for their fish and chips, but my two favorite dishes are the burgers and the chicken subs, Portions are generous, and Ali the owner/chef always treats us with extra stuff / fries/ sides without us even asking for it! Ask about their specials, they dont announce it but sometimes they offer steaks!

This is our familys go to place for fish and chips. The fish is always fresh and crispy and the portion size is great. The coleslaw that comes with the fish is a miss though and needs improvement. Other than that everything is top notch.

This is much more than fish and chips place; they have plenty of other choices on the menu and they all taste GREAT. The service here is excellent. The interior feels a little dated and a bit worn but I didnt mind as this is their character and the food was excellent. This was my first time here and I really enjoyed my meal. The price was quite reasonable too, unlike other places that keep jacking up their prices. The portion was also healthy. Ill be coming back again.

Good value as the prices are very reasonable if you re in the area and looking to not spend a lot on your meal. Destiny went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and friendly demeanor were truly remarkable. I must admit that a year and a half ago, during a previous visit with friends, we were not as respectful or appreciative of Destinys hard work. As young and immature individuals, we were a bit rude, and I regretted it deeply. Today, when I had the opportunity to dine at Digbys again, I sought out Destiny to apologize for our previous behavior and to express my gratitude for her exceptional service. Destinys gracious response and genuine warmth only reaffirmed what an extraordinary person and dedicated employee she is. Amazing place to get fish and chips. In my opinion, they are the best in town. I loved their fish and chips and the beef burger platter. And the wings are something out of this world. This is usually our go to place if we are craving for a quick bite but don t have a preference. Servers are always friendly with a smile, and brother Ali is a great chef. You can give them a try! Best described as a seafood themed greasy spoon. The decor feels a bit dated and eclectic but has its own kind of charm. The server was very friendly and good with our child. From what I could see if other interactions they have their share of regulars and make them feel at home. The cod fish and chips was light and flaky if a little heavily battered. Fries could have had a more crispness to them. The fried shrimp were also well cooked and moist. Kid-friendliness: Kids dine free on Sundays from the kids menu with a parent.

I m from NS so I was expecting Digby style seafood. Definitely false advertising. The haddock was good, but tiny and there was literally a tiny bed of fries for the fish to lay on. For $22 back home I would have needed a separate plate for fries. Bottom line I m still hungry and won t be going back there.

My friends & I came to this restaurant as a recommendation from someone and it did not disappoint. Food tasted fresh and well seasoned. Definitely recommend for seafood lovers (they also have chicken and many other items on the menu).

The food was delicious with the right amount of batter on the fish. The waitress was very nice and made sure to give us a good recommendation. The ambiance is a bit old fashioned but clean. I would go there again.

Now the clam chowder was really good, my only mistake was I should have ordered the large. After eating the first bowl it made me want more, so good. Now for the fried shrimp, I was expecting Popeyes size shrimp, but what I got were shrimp 3 times the size, I was very surprised, the shrimp were excellent. Every time I come here Now I will have to get the shrimp. The shrimp sauce was fantastic. The wings were nice and crispy and flavourful. Havent had a bad meal here yet, will definitely be back. I visited Digby s for lunch and everything about the experience was fantastic! Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious! I ordered cod fish and chips, the fish was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispiness and the french fries were also crispy and paired well with the fish. Fish was incredible, had the salmon and Haddock and both were delicious. The chips were top shelf and the slaw did not disappoint either. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back myself!

Ordered takeout ahead of time for me and my wife. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the place was empty with at least a dozen empty tables. After asking to dine in instead since we have a baby with us, I received a rude no in Arabic. I asked what the issue was as there are dozens of tables, answer: thats our policy, takeout is takeout. I can tell you the customer service and rudeness was terrible, and the policy sucks because we wont be back again. Food was just ok.

Definitely a skip. The wings were VERY DRY. You could tell had been frozen. Wings also had no flavour, we had to ask for more sauce on the side to dip these dry, flavourless wings in. My partner felt sick after eating a few- I was disappointed because we ordered 24, thinking we d love them unfortunately wasn t the case. I had the haddock fish & chips. It wasn t bad. The coleslaw was okay too. The server passing by spilled soda from old cups while walking by, which spilled on my partner s feet. The server didn t notice neither of these things happening and I had to let them know about the huge mess on the floor. I went because they have halal food, but it wasn t being cooked or served by Muslim staff. I find that quality goes down when it s being cooked by non-middle eastern people. Save your time & money, unless you don t care about quality and just want grub.

We were craving seafood and saw this nearby place with fairly good review. Place was clean. Food was average, nothing special. Given food quality and quantity, found it to be pricy.

We have been here twice. Both times the haddock and chips have been spot on. My other half is more of a seafood fan then I am. The 1st time we were here she had shrimp and this time she had the whole tilapia. Destiny was very attentive. We will be back again.

I have been to digbys twice now, the first time I had garlic butter shrimp, and second time I had BBQ chicken breast and both times the food was amazing, The waitress was very welcoming and friendly I belive her name was Bernadette . I will defenetly go back again.

2nd time I come with family. A little disappointed. The dishes ordered were very greasy. Very average service. We even found a hair in a dish. They changed it and they apologize. The quality/price ratio is not at all correct. I wont come back again.

Be careful if you are a black person, the worst racists I met in Ottawa, think twice before going there. The young girl at the reception, the slightly strong one, is the meanest of all the waitresses I met in Ottawa and even then I weigh my words... Dont go there.

Tuesdays and saturdays all you can eat fish and chips; incredibly crispy outside, the fish is nice and flaky (I believe they use pollock for the all you can eat special), decent fries and a homemade tartar sauce. Wings were pretty good too!

Weve been eating digbys fish and chips for over two years. Had mainly positive experiences with them. However that all changed tonight. We ordered a 10 piece family meal of Cod. They told us to come pick up in 25 minutes and we ended up waiting an additional 20. We always get the cod so we know what to expect. All the pieces were cut in half which they never do. We had 13 half pieces which equals 6.5 full pieces. When we noticed my sister phoned which we only did because we ordered just enough food if they were full pieces. She asked to speak to a manager, who kept repeating they were full filets. As though we havent ordered this 100 times and know what to expect. He said they always come like that and proceeded to argue with her. No offer to have us come pick up the remaining fish or any kind of acknowledgment or apology of any kind. Anyways you can judge for yourself by the picture if thats a full filet..

The fries were very good, but they were not chips. There is a difference and it is important when talking about fish and chips. The clam chowder tasted quite good but there were not a lot of clams. This is clam chowder so I am expecting to be overwhelmed by clams. Overall, an excellent meal, at very reasonable prices.

Amazing food and service!

Being from Nova Scotia originally, I have had a difficult time finding a decent Fish and Chip place is Ontario. We have been disappointed many times. But those days are over! We ordered from Digbys in Kanata and although they are 36 Km s from where we live, I will go no where else from now on. The haddock family pack was the perfect size for our family of 5. The Fish was crispy and delicious. Lots of fries. The coleslaw was not overburdened with mayo like some places, and the tartar was delightful. All in all we definitely give Digbys a 10 out of 10. I would have added a photo, but we were so happy with the meal that by the time we thought about, there was nothing left to photograph. Thanks Digbys. You made our day, with many more to come!

Ordered for the first time today with some coworkers. Fish was decent. Portion was incredibly small for what you pay for. We ordered take out. No ketchup, salt or vinegar. Not sure Ill be back.

Delicious food and great service!

I have ordered from this restaurant a couple of times a week. Everything so far that we have tried on the menu is amazing, but my favorite is the classic burger platter. I highly recommend for anyone to order or visit this gem.

Worst in the city so disappointed in the quality of food the french fries were fried hard. The fish was raw, all batter and not cooked properly.The so called tartar sauce was mayonnaise. We got it take out and it went straight to garbage.If this is new owners with they need to step up.and stop ripping people off .This was unacceptable

Amazing food and lovely staff. Loved our experience there. The couple next to our table liked the fish and chip so much they ordered extra fish and ended up having 16 pieces of fish! Tip: ask the staff what kind of fish is the best for Fish and Chips they will recommend based on how fishy (smell and taste) you want it to be. The food is Halal as well.

Good place for fish and chips. Its frozen to table, but its good food when you want quick and easy seafood. The service has suffered significantly since our last visit.

We used Skip the Dishes for our first time at Digbys. The fish was excellent. We havent dined there since it was Joeys. It will be a repeat next we have a craving for F&C.

Fantastic variety delicious fish and chips! Family favorite. Also love the chicken wrap. They really can do it all. Making a great selection for everyone to enjoy.

I dined in with my family tonight... we had a very lovely meal. We all really enjoyed the battered fish ! Very tasty fish with the perfect crispiness !!! Best part was that the menu was completely halal. The owner is very nice and our waitress, Destiny was extremely courteous! Perfect experience... we will definitely visit again !

Fresh fish n chips. Delicious tasting cod with a perfect crisp. Fries very good too. We loved the popcorn shrimp and calamari, also. Definitely will be back to try other fish and other menu items. Lovely server. Funny enough I enjoyed watching reruns of Theres Company while having lunch.

Recommend paying $6 more to get cod instead of Alaskan pollock for your fish & chips, its much nicer. Had classic fries and they were nice and crispy. Came with a slice of lemon, a side of coleslaw and +1 piece of fish The chicken sub with garlic sauce was good - for the price, Id recommend just getting shawarma, but this is the closest thing in Kanata Centrum The pecan pie tasted good but didnt look like the menu photo. Glad I only ordered one to share There is no uniform here so staff are very casual in the summer. It has a diner vibe, so dont expect a fancy restaurant. Great food at great price. Everything in the menu is halal :) We tried the fish and chips and thai chicken wings, both were tasty and filling. On Tuesday s, they have all you can eat fish and chips. And on Sunday, 1 child per adult can get a free meal.

This place has great food. Decor is a bit outdated but there is a beautiful ocean mural on the walls creating a nice atmosphere. The fish was very generously portioned. The club was slightly on the dry side, needs a bit more sauce.

I enjoy every meal that I get from here. From the Haddock Club sandwich to the cod and salmon meals Ive had, everything is cooked perfectly. I enjoy the fries, sweet potatoes and poutine, as well as the great service that I get with every visit, shoutout to Destiney ;)

Excellent restaurant. The lady at the front was polite and answered my questions concisely and helped me choose what I was going to eat. While I was waiting, one of the chefs named Dan came out to keep me company and we struck up a good conversation. He was extremely nice and offered to cook for me next time I was in. The food itself was stellar. Well worth it.

where do I start.... Clam Chowder worse !!! than Campbells soup. or more interesting it was Campbells...? fish & chips chips were sent back the little pieces from the whole day made it to my plate. all food was not seasoned at all.. Robert this place needs a makeover in every way..

My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant last week and were pleased with the taste and portions. We ordered the haddock and pollock which came with excellent fries and coleslaw. Our waitress (I think her name is Josee) was pleasant and customer oriented. Decor is old fashion - but perhaps this is the theme the owner wants?! We highly recommend this eatery.

Had dinner with a friend here last night. We ordered a fish n chip as well as the salmon. Everything was excellent from our meal to our coffee and dessert. The young lady Destiny was super friendly, welcoming and quick in service. She checked in with us regularly as well. Will definitely go back and recommend others give this place a try as well. Have been too this restaurant now about 6 times. About two years ago I had lunch at this restaurant and was not impressed with the food or the service. About 7 months ago I thought I would give it another try as I had read some positive reviews. I have been pleasantly surprised that the restaurant has been great. The haddock fish n chips (which I always order) have always been well prepared and not greasy and tough batter. You can also have other food than fish but I recommend that. You can also have other accompaniments with the fish if you dont want fries. (eg mashed potatoes, rice) Josie seems to be the lady that we have dealt with on most of our visits and a great woman, upbeat and pleasant. Will continue to go there

From Winnipeg, might be some of the best fish and chips Ive ever had. Will definitely come in again when Im back in town.

The halibut is fairly good, but heavily coated, which it doesnt need. The fries are horrible, only frozen not fresh cut, and usually under cooked.

Enjoyed a great fish and chips lunch today at Digbys. It was piping hot and generous sized portion. We opted for the haddock today but I love how they have numerous options of fish. Waitress was friendly and very attentive of us. We started with the clam chowder, it was a huge bowl but the broth was not flavorable enough for us and not a whole lot of clams but for the price, it still gets a 3/5 COVID PRECAUTIONS were followed properly and there were only three other patrons in the restaurant. Lots of pick ups for taking home. I was really surprised at the great prices throughout the menu... a $2.99 slice of apple pie!! Awesome! We will be back!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in (Kanata Ontario). Every time we visit Ottawa we have to come to Kanata to eat at digbys the food is always fantastic and tasty and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite, owner is so respectful my kids really like to dine in cause of the service. Can t wait to return and wouldn t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in (Kanata Ontario) and looking forward for Mississauga location.

First time randomly walked in for lunch , ordered fish &. Chips with coleslaw, plus the poutine, and a fried jumbo shrimps. Taste really good! Also love the atmosphere there. Will be back there regularly.
