I have no words to describe how delicious and deep their food is. So much flavour, I could eat their food every day! And very affordable pricing, and clean restaurant. Thank you Saba Thai for the halal menu, we really really appreciate that! Will definitely be back (everyday if I could)! Mouth watering - that’s the words, delicious!!!
Amazing food quality and fair prices. I really enjoyed my dinner here. Awesome flavour. I had the Tom Yum Soup, Chicken Satay, and Shrimp Pad Thai. It was the best Pad Thai I have ever had.
Amazing Thai joint at the west end. They do have all the authentic Thai dishes and are quite flavourful. It's family run and the folks are friendly and hospitable. All items on the menu are Halal, so they cater to a few demographics. Keep it up guys!
Amazing spot for Thai food especially if you're Muslim. All the meat served is halal. They've removed pork from the menu to prevent accidental cross contamination. Their food is delicious. The lady working there was very friendly and patiently explained the menu selection to us and offered recommendations. Since the food is made fresh, the spice level can be adjusted and substitutions made within reason. We had their fresh wraps to start followed by a noodle and curry dish as the entrees. Definitely recommended.
This is the gem in this Plaza and as a Thai restaurant in general. When I walked in the place was more than half full. I was cheerfully greeted by a young lady who was well-dressed and very personable. I asked to see the menu and she took the time to show me a few options and she recommended the platter because it showcased a few of their popular items and would be good value. I took her recommendation and was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The mango salad was perfect, the curry had the right amount of spice and flavour. I'm impressed and will recommend this place and be back in the future.
Sabai Thai Cuisine was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, offering a fusion of authentic flavors that truly impressed. The customer service matched the quality of the dishes, ensuring a pleasant dining atmosphere. Opting for the combo option was a win-win—the variety provided at such an affordable price was fantastic. The mango salad stood out as a highlight, showcasing the freshest ingredients and perfect balance of flavors. Additionally, the availability of ample seating and convenient parking outside the shop made the entire experience hassle-free. For anyone seeking delicious Thai cuisine with great service and convenient amenities, Sabai Thai Cuisine is definitely worth a visit.
We came here on a Saturday night right when they opened at 5 pm. We were happy we got there early because while we were waiting for our meals the restaurant was almost full house. We noticed that there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant which made it abitt difficult to have the best service. It felt like she was running around back and forth taking orders and all. We wanted more water and hot sauce and it took us over 20 minutes to grab her attention. Food wise it was good but not the best. We got the chicken sticks, the mango salad and the chicken pad Thai. The chicken sticks were way to spicy because of the curry, the sauce that came with it was not enough. I loved the mango salad, it was very fresh, I would definitely order this to myself when I come back. The pad Thai was to my liking aswell but if you don't like sweet I don't recommend getting this because this dish is pretty sweet. The portion are very big for the price you are paying. We shared the 3 plates and we were full at the end, we each paid 25$. This place is good for groups and to share food. They don't seem to have an online reservation option but for big groups it's preferable to call before.
Just a note to start off with...not sure if their kitchen ventilation was broken but the restaurant was very smokey so not the most pleasant when dining in. So on to the food....the flavors are very good however I feel that they may have changed the "recipes" a bit to cater to the North American palate meaning the dishes were a tad sweeter than I would have liked. Had the Papaya Salad (very good), Green Curry with Chicken (very good) and Shrimp Pad Thai (too sweet). All in all, it was a good experience. If you're craving some Thai food, this place will satisfy that craving but if you're looking for more authentic Thai then I wouldn't say this place is it. On a side note, the service was really good....our waitress was super friendly and efficient. Enjoy.
I ordered a lunch set. The portion is extremely small, but the price are not cheap. Yes, restaurant owner might consider 14.95 is cheap, but it is not cheap for most of ppls out there.
Ridiculously bad/no combo options for vegetarians. Even the dish quantity is pretty small for the price. Vegetarian options: Haha. No go for vegetarians.
Ive been to Sabai a few times. The food is always good. My annoyance is their takeout. Despite setting a pickup time , the food had obviously been left sitting on the counter for quite a while. Happened couple of time so Ill take my business elsewhere.
tooooooo slow
Very slow take out order, took about 50 min. People dine in after us get served with higher priority, will never come again
Came here for lunch. Extremely slow service. Small portions. mediocre food. Not sure how this place pulls the crowd.
Delicious Thai food. Their thai dishes are authentic and very flavourful. Highly recommend
Great food and service. The lunch combination is my go-to meal!
Good food. Good service Food
Food is quite inconsistent- sometimes it s incredible and other times it s not great. Take out is also a mess sometimes and you can wait over an hour past the time you were supposed to pick up.
Best pad Thai Ive ever had in my life
The food and the service here is exceptional!
Great food, highly recommend
Ordered takeout online, confirmation said it would be ready at 7. Go to pick up at 7 and they said it would be ready at 7:15. Go back at 7:15 and was basically ignored by the waitstaff. Refused to acknowledge me and avoided eye contact everytime she would walk by with food. Eventually I tried to get her attention on her way back to the counter and she dismissed me by saying something along the lines of ill call your name when it s ready over her shoulder as she passed by. Extremely rude way to interact with someone. I tried to get her attention yet again and asked her to repeat what she said and she made some random excuse saying her manager(?) will call my name when the food is ready and so I asked her if I could just speak to her and she said sure when she comes out from the back, she s really busy again in a very dismissive tone. At this point it s 7:30 so I ve been waiting a while with no acknowledgement of where my order is at. There are 3 other people waiting as well who she s also not acknowledging. Finally she comes out with my order and goes we threw in rice for you ok? I get that establishments get swamped during busy dinner hour but the way the staff handled the situation could have been way better. An acknowledgement would have been helpful, and the attitude was very dismissive and rude. This place came highly recommended by friends but I m not sure if I would order from this establishment again after this experience.
Food was excellent. Every visit I try something different on the menu and everything is amazing food quality wise. Always a good buzz if youre there during peak times, bit quieter the earlier or later you go, but thats to be expected of a restaurant. Service has always been great. One visit was take out and the online ordering system had not delivered the order or there had been some issues of some sort. The staff was sure to be apologetic and stay on top of it and tried their best to keep me happy, for example by communicating before I had to ask them/staying on top of the issue.
One of the best Thai places in the city. I tried it after reading a lot about this restaurant and indeed it is worth the hype. Atmosphere and Ambiance could be better but the food was definitely top notch.
It was very good. He gave us great recommendations. We all enjoyed our meals. It was a nice find in the area.
They have such a great selection of food. Everything we tried was delicious! The soup they give is out of this world (you can order it separately for dinner) ! Highly recommend. Also, fully halal! This place is a little known gem!
Great variety with the lunch combo and all Halal.
Waiter was exceptional. Best Thai food for me to date!
Food was definitely the best I ve tried in Ottawa, staff was very nice, atmosphere was nice and everyone seemed happy!
Since I had the experience of eating in Thailand before, this place was disappointing for me. As soon as you enter, the smell of overcooking greets you. I dont like this because the smell of food permeates my clothes. They need to open the curtains and need more light. It is not clear how hygienic the environment is. The chairs were quite dirty and the atmosphere was very suffocating. When it came to ordering food, when I asked if it was halal, she said yes, but when I saw that there was pork on the menu, I gave up because I wasnt sure about the cutting board, knife and pot he used for the same meat. This is a subject I am sensitive about, but those who eat halal meat, please be careful about this. Thank you.
Below average food overall. Server was also bleh - always seemed to be in a hurry when we were the only people in the restaurant.
Great food, can t wait to go again!
Really flavourful meals. Good friendly service.
Although the restaurant can occasionally get a little bit smoky, the food and service are outstanding.
Good Thai food. Most of the dishes taste good but their curries are the best !
The food was decent. The meat was not as soft as thai food typically is. Abit hard to chew. But service was nice. Probably would not go back. Parking: The Plaza itself is hard to find parking cUze its so small. Someone left and I pulled in.
Had the most wonderful experience at Sabai Thai Cuisine. The food was fresh and flavorful. We ordered chicken satay for appetizer and the Chicken Pad Thai, Beef green curry and fried rice for main course. The the serving was more than enough for our family of three. Would definitely recommend Sabai Thai.
I came for the first time yesterday February 12th with my friend for my birthday dinner and I must say the taste of the food was amazing! My only ick was the chunks of ginger I believe in the food really was unsatisfying (in the pad ki mow). My favourite spot used to be royal thai on Dalhousie but since they closed down I have been on the hunt for similar taste and authenticity and I finally found it!!! Amazing food. Atmosphere is cozy and the waiter was so accommodating! I love that it s Halal!!!! My new fave thai place!
The pad thai was a bit on the sweeter side for us (even with thai level spicy), but still enjoyable! The veggies in it were super good!
Some of the best Thai food I have had in Canada. Large portions, excellent flavour and great service what more could you ask for. I live just outside of Toronto, but I will be back as it is worth the drive.
So so good. I wish they were open later and open Sundays. For evenings I guess its best to have reservations; even when the place is super busy theyre friendly and fairly quick.
I had a disappointing experience with take out recently. Despite an initial estimate of 25-50 mins, my order took a staggering 2 hours to prepare. The curry and fried rice I ordered were mediocre, and the overall service was excessively slow. Additionally, I found the pricing to be overrated. Overall, not a satisfactory experience.
Food and service were solid, despite there only being one waitress. Good serving sizes, everything was halal! Food was a bit on the slow side. Only major complaint is the interior was rather smokey.
My family and I really enjoyed the food. The chicken panang and seafood pad ka praw were the standouts. The mango salad is good on everything! The portion sizes for everything seemed good as well. There was only one waitress the night we went so service was a little slow at times. The only real drawback though was that the interior got somewhat smoky at times. Dietary restrictions: The meat was halal
My first and last experience at this place. It came recommended by neighbors. Ordered online for pickup. Two Pad Thai and 1 order of spring rolls (4) was $50.00. Fine if food is good. It wasn t. It s hard to wreck PT, but it was. The noodles were mushy and glued together. It was clearly obvious they heated up my chicken and peanuts and spice and then threw it on top of the clump of noodles as the 6 pieces of chicken I received were super spicy and the noodles were bland and tasteless. My mom threw her whole meal out. Expensive. Terrible. 0/10
I ordered the pad ki mow beef tonight. And the corn in it was rancid and the beef in it smelled. After taking a bite, I decided to throw it all away, even if the price was not cheap. Bad experience.
Having purchased great food from here in the past, we decided to order for our Valentines dinner. All of the items we had previously ordered were not available and what we did get was not of the previous quality. Is it possible that the ownership has changed recently? We are now former customers.
Best Thai Ive had in forever.
Understanding I ordered on the busiest day of the year and had to wait 45 min extra for my order, a total of 2 hours 45 min because the first order was prepared wrong with a totally different dish presented on arrival. I could have overlooked all of this however when you wait that long and get a dish with 3 ingredients (beef, noodles, and bean sprouts) for a pad thai with absolutely no flavour at all, and the reason for this review. My dish remained untouched, it was not edible at all. Too bad, Ive been wanting to try this restaurant for a while.
The food was absolutely delicious, we had a little bit of hiccup with our pickup order but employees helped us out immediately and delivered the right order right at our door step! Highly appreciate the efforts! Dietary restrictions: Halal
I had a nice supper date with mom and sister on Monday. We decided to bring mom for a thai cuisine experience in kanata. Open for almost a decade, Sabai Thai is a cute little family owned restaurant. I learnt about this restaurant from following another Ottawa Food blogger, Mels Hangry Table. We had an amazing experience, the calm ambiance, great staff and delicious food. Since we wanted to spoil mom, we got 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes. To start, we got their crispy vegetable spring rolls, they were flakey and crunchy with lots of filling, we also got the fresh wraps, a jam packed rice paper roll served with a savoury peanut sauce, and the last app was the chicken satay skewers and they were also a hit with everyone! Next up were the main courses, my sister got Gaeng Dang - chicken, bamboo, vegetables tossed in a red curry, mom got Pad Prew Warn - a chicken stir-fry with Thai sweet and sour sauce and last mine was the Pad Siew - a noodle stir-fry with chicken tossed with vegetables and a sweet soy sauce. All the dishes were great, we tried a little from eachothers dish but we all agreed that ours was the best meal lol. This s great little gem to try if you are out in the kanata area on Carling Ave and March rd. #supportlocal #ottawafoodiestalker
Delicious, excellent service, outstanding presentation. By far the best Thai I ve had in Ontario. Notable favourites: Tom kha, fish cakes, fresh wrap, papaya salad, crispy fish mango salad, penang curry and sticky rice.
Excellent meal....freezing rain and very few diners but host was very accommodating and extremely pleasant had time to chat and help us decide what to order....always with a beautiful smile. Greeted everyone and take out delivery drivers with a special greeting. Food was delicious and plentiful...very enjoyable place to dine out..thank you!
Drove down from Orleans for a mn authentic Thai meal and Sabai Thai did not disappoint. Fresh Wraps with peanut sauce was so flavorful. The Tom Kha with shrimp was simply delicious. You can never go wrong with the Pad Thai, classic noodle dish and finally finished up with the Panang curry on jasmine rice. Was hard to put the fork down once getting started as every dish had its own distinct flavors and were all just awesome. Staff was super friendly, efficient and pleasant. All around great experience! Vegetarian options: Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Explained the menu and proactively asked if meat proteins were ok or if vegetarian options were required. Very considerate. Not vegetarian but appreciated the thoughtfulness for others.
The curry is very rich, however, there is a thick amount of oil on top which ruins it for me. I wish there was a little bit more curry than actual filling. The Pad Thai was also very oily and over saturated with sauce. The mango salad was overly sweet but the fish was nice. The chicken skewer was cooked perfectly and the sauce that came with it was very good, I enjoyed the sauce more than the curry.
Pad Thai, Duck Curry, Panang Red Curry. Both of the curry sauces were extremely flavourful. They weresweet and savoury with the coconut milk freshness in there and very creamy. The pad thai was okay, a little too sour for my taste. Everyone there is not asian, but that doesnt take away from the dishes whatsoever. The rice was cooked properly and the dishes were absolutely amazing. Also splitting a large rice 3 ways is too much rice. Medium would probably work better.
We ve been customers for years and have enjoyed their dishes. However, that isn t the case anymore. While prices keep rising, the quality of dishes have steadily declined. We just spent over $120 this week for the same thing we can get at Thai Express bland and unseasoned sauces, and dry and overcooked meats. Very disappointing. Won t be returning.
Food was great. The service was awful. Our server forgot half our order, brought our appetizers after the mains, never brought the tea we asked for, our the hot sauce and plum sauce at all. We brought it up after we ate (since we didn t get checked in on until then by another server) and she just asked if we wanted it then. Dissatisfied with the the service. May as well just order takeout.
Food is terrible, it tasted more like chinese food. Mel said it was the best food you could put in your mouth but shes a wrong woman. I would say it is not authentic thai food and that there are better places like green papaya. Recommended dishes
Have been once so far. Will go back for sure. This is probably the best Thai food that I have had in Ottawa. It is made with fresh high quality ingredients. Dishes are overflowing with great Thai flavour. We had a wide variety of dishes and they were all solidly executed. So if you are craving great Thai go now and get your fix.
Service was outstanding, food was excellent as well, I would say one of if not best Thai restaurant in Kanata. Seafood Tom Yum soup was amazing, shrimp tails removed !!! awesome
The menu said the chu chee pla was deep fried, but seemed more like pan fried to me. There wasnt any batter on the fish, and it was kinda tough. The curry was top notch tho. Alas, the search for a good chu chee pla continues. Mango salad and pad thai both good. Pineapple fried rice was a bit lacking in flavour. Good portion tho. Service was very good.
Not sure what happened, this was one of our favorite restaurants but the quality has recently taken a nose dive. The food has been really inconsistent from one visit to the next ranging from overly spicy to bland. The side of rice we got with our order tonight was undercooked. . . how does an Asian restaurant undercook rice :( this will be our last time eating here.
Fully halal thai food (waiting to be certified). All pork on the menu has been removed. Ive been waiting for halal thai in Ottawa for the longest time. So I was very excited for this restaurant! I would highly recommend all the dishes, especially Pad ki mow, Pad siew and kaow pad (fried rice). The food got devoured before I could take a pic. Very delicious!
I typically order take out here. It is probably the restaurant where my family eats the most . The food and service is consistently good. Some of our favorites are fresh wraps with chicken and green curry.
We ordered green curry, cashew chicken and some spring rolls. Everything was delicious!
Great service , best spring rolls ever, and delishious main dish !
Food was great and service was awesome too
Had the lunch special combination platter and it was massive. Dont let the pics fool you, the portions were very big. Good flavours too and to put the cherry on top, its fully halal! Good luck to them and hopefully more folks discover this great Thai experience! Dietary restrictions: Halal food available.
Great food, value for money, and good service! Prices are so affordable and you get A LOT for the price, so there is so much value in each bite! I had the E menu item, Pad Prik Khing. It was tingly spicy because of the ginger but not sweat inducing/tongue burning spicy, so dont be scared about the spice level. My companions also enjoyed their own meals, some got the combination platter, Pad Thai and Pad Si-Ew and everyone loved their meals. Overall, really tasty food and great service. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small so Id recommend reserving in advance if you have a big party as iirc there were only 3 tables for groups of 4+ people. It was also quite smoky inside, but other than that the atmosphere was good too. Side note - Parking is difficult to find cos of how busy the location is so probably best to drive past to the Metro across the street or park on the side of the street if you realize theres no spots as youre approaching the plaza.
Excellent food, presentation, portions and prices. What a great restaurant!
We came here because of good review but it s a disappointing experience. The food is healthy - but not authentic Thai food. Food
Good food but Unbelievably slow service. It doesn t help to tell your customers you re adding something to the order when in reality you haven t started preparing after 1.5 hours
Although it can be busy for weekday lunch, it is worth the wait. Food is always delicious.
Excellent food. Came on a holiday and they got very busy which slowed things down for everyone, but thats our fault for coming on a holiday. Hostess was excellent and understanding.
Finally back with the lunch special! This was a staple for me 10 years ago and its still great. Dinner is excellent too
Best Thai food in town, dare you to try to Thai spice level
Great place for lunch. Try the lunch combo....so tasty every time.
We were a group of 17, booked in advance. The owner made time to speak with me about several dietary and logistical concerns and was just delighted to accommodate us. Everything was ready for our group upon arrival. Our servers were readily available and the food was wonderful, especially the green curry! This was a special family event and we were very pleased. Dietary restrictions: The chef provided many ways she could accommodate gluten free needs and food allergies.
Best Thai restaurant in Ottawa/Gatineau. Full of fresh and tasteful flavor! Food
This is not an authentic thai place. The Tom yum was just plain broth with mushrooms and small leafy green herb. It was so disappointing because an authentic Tom Yum should be one of the most flavorful and aromatic soups in the world. They shouldnt even call theirs a tom yum because its just plain broth. Everything else we ordered was meh. Anyone giving this place a high rating has NEVER been to an authentic thai restaurant and dont know what theyre missing out, period! Their service was good at least.
Panang red curry (chicken) and green curry (shrimp) were delicious. The portions were big enough for sharing. Very good value for the price. Satay chicken was good as well. We started off grumpy because our pick-up order wasnt ready until almost half an hour after the estimated pick-up time (which didnt seem typical for them, other customers picked up on time while I was waiting), but we were so happy with the food that I had to submit a 5-star review.
Can t tell you how the food tastes. Waited 2 hours and when i called the phone was off the hook. Can definitely tell you the service is poor.
Getting off work, parking at the entrance is difficult, theres heavy smoke in the restaurant, but the food is good.
Our usual Thai place closed so tried this on a reco from a friend. SO GLAD WE DID it was delicious. Service was very kind. Will absolutely return
Great food every time - thank you!
Great food! loved my pineapple rice!
Very good Thai food restaurant, when you saw a old lady chef in the kitchen, you know this is a real deal. The coconut milk soup is amazing and the green curry shrimp with the sticky rice mixed together are so good. And the service is perfect too. Highly recommanded. I just wished the parking lots is bigger for all the restaurant in the same spot.
Visit sabai thai twice and tried a few of their dishes: 1. Tom kha - was really good, flavorful and rich in coconut cream. 2. Tom yum - broth was very runny and lacked the proper taste of tom yum soup. Tasted watery and not the best 3. Pad ki mow - my favorite here and I ordered this on both my visit. You get to chose your spice level and it can be really spicy if you want! Love the quantity and quality of meat and veggies on it. 4. Kaow pad - fried rice with beef was decent but nothing special. Lacked flavor on it. Honestly, this may be the best thai restaurant in Ottawa I ve tried. However, service is always scarce as theres only 1-2 servers working even when the restaurant is full. The inside has always been clean but smoky, maybe due to the lack of ventilation. Will return to try some of their other dishes.
We ordered online. Soup was mostly broth. Yellow curry had undercooked potatoes in it and dry chicken chunks. Green curry was watery and quite tasteless. Steamed jasmine rice was sticky and mushy, not sure if it was jasmine at all. Not happy with the experience. Tried phoning to let them know about this, but nobody picks up the phone at all, no voice mail.
Best pad Thai and pad see ew in the area!!
Love their pad Thai and need to try so much more. Hours need to be open a little earlier for dinner so I can pickup on my way home from work.
Ive ordered takeout here at least 30 times, and I plan on ordering another 300 times. Generous portions and great flavour.
Ridiculous and arrogant staff. Wrong info on the website and google. Wasted us all the time and driving. Don t know how these restaurants can survive. Funny.
Hands down best Thai food in the city, have tried about 7-8 others and nothing compares, we drive 30+ minutes for this food because we love it so much. Highly recommend.
Delicious, impeccable service, we will return for sure!
Over priced and no flavor
Excellent food. Friendly staff. Authentic cuisine. A restaurant that serves quality ice water cares about its clients.
I had an absolute pleasure to eat at this restaurant the day it reopened post covid after 2 long years. Warm ambiance.amazing staff.the lady helped us make our choices for dinner.the food served was amazing ,well proportionate for all of us.i have ordred few more times as well and loved the food.my only concern is ,they dont have a lot of vegetarian option in the menu and you pay for meat/chicken while u litterally ask them to remove it.bit expensive in that regards ..
Mel is killing it!!! The best Thai food we ve ever had! Love the green curry! The protein was moist and perfectly cooked and the veggies were Al dente. The spice and sweetness level were just right. Extremely well balanced and nothing was short of sensational! I can talk about it forever just go and taste for yourself!
The food at Sabai Thai was just perfect! It was very well balanced. I loved every bite. We had the mango salad which was just perfectly sweet and sour. The green curry was out of this world. The chicken in it was very well cooked. We also had one of the stir fries with beef and it blew us away. The portion size was big and filling. The staff is als overy nice and knowledgeable.
We tried this place and their food here is really flavourful. Their curries and anything with sweet basil was fantastic. We had the chicken satay, red curry, beef stir fry, and beef noodles and it did not disappoint. If you are in the area, give it a try! (We forgot to take pics, the food smelled good and we got hungry and ate, next time!)
Service was extremely slow. My family and I still found the food delicious however. Still, ordering would be the better option if you do not want to wait for 20 minutes for your food.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Unfortunately ordered tofu for pick up tonight(as a vegan), and got chicken instead. :-(
Good food and service, large portion size. Just a little on the pricy side and most dishes do not come with rice, have to pay extra.
Food was very flavorful (had Panang curry and Satay skewers) and portions were large. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend and will coming back
We went here later on a weekday so it was quiet. The restaurant was clean and the servers were very polite. We got the beef panang, duck curry, vegetarian spring rolls and a medium sized rice that was perfect for 2 people. Really enjoyed both curries. Ive had different versions of panang through the years. This one did not disappoint. The duck was also very soft and delicious. Its a family friendly restaurant. The food isnt spicy so children can enjoy the curries too! Will definitely go back!
The service was good, and the pad thai was delicious.
Absolutely delicious food. Warm and friendly service. And oh yes, celiac friendly too. Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly
Best Thai food in Ottawa !!!
Takeout. Way too expensive for what we got, and the quality was just low. Some street side vendors selling out of trailers do better than this quality wise, for 1/2 the price. $68 after taxes for 3 dishes. Someone on Facebook was raving about #38. Was told it was popular on pickup. It wasnt very good at all. Pad Thai was mushy and didnt taste very good. Another restaurant walking distance from there, that isnt even a Thai place, does it better. And then this other forgettable dish. Not coming back again.
It s going downhill. Yesterday I got the yellow curry dish and there was no flavour. I really think they forgot to add some ingredients or something. Anyways, this restaurant used to be pretty good, but lately it s been a miss.
Good flavours!
Delicious fresh food, made to order. great service and ambiance. Love this place! Dietary restrictions: Dishes were modified to accommodate our vegetarian.
First time and last time. I cant believe this costed $70 and we were charged for a sauce we never got.. If youre looking for something like this thats affordable, check out Jasmine Rice Thai Kitchen in Richmond where this meal costs $40 and the service is 100x better.
Just ordered a green and yellow curry. One had no spice, one had lots and both were very oily. Also specifically ordered a beef dish with NO spice and it was spicier than the lever 3 green curry we ordered. Half our family couldn t even eat dinner. Order was hot and on time, that is all the good I have to say. No rice offered or sent either. Will NEVER order here again. To expensive to not get what we ordered
Closed for in store dining due to covid but takeout is just as good :)
A lousy restaurant.Employees are very rude and unprofessional. There is a very long wait. Because they are so slow
Recently had ordered a take out. And I loved loved lovvvvvved everything we ordered. Loved the yellow chicken curry made in coconut milk the most. Will definitely try more dishes Great job Sabai Thai Team!
This place was highly recommended by friends/family so I was very excited to try it but sadly I was disappointed. I ordered red, green and yellow curry, they all lacked flavour/spices and were all extremely watery. The shrimp salad was good. Pad Thai was just okay. Service was great!
Fantastic food, and one of the only places that can do gluten free Thai. The fried rice is to die for.
Delicious food, friendly staff, well priced. Our fave Thai restaurant!
This place is the best restaurant I have ever been to. If you like Thai Food youll be blown away by this place. If you dont like Thai Food, you will be anyway. Everytime I am in Kanata its a gaurantee that youll see me stop by for a bite.
Excellent food good portion deliver is outstanding thats my 4th order soooo good
Im always waring of trying new restaurants as I hate being disappointed eating out. This place was great! With 3 of us eating, we ordered 3 mains and a side of sticky rice ( SOO good!... went perfectly with all the dishes, I would recommend this over the steamed jasmine rice) First up: Gaeng Keaw Wan Curry - Spicy Green Curry- served with Bamboo shoots, baby corn, bell peppers, green beans, eggplant, and sweet basil. - we got chicken. This was great! I dont like eggplant but I was gobbling it up, nice curry sauce, slightly sweet, very satisfying. I would say the spice didnt even register with us for this one though. Second : Pad Thai with Shrimp Perfectly cooked noodles, juicy shrimp, Saucy but not too saucy! I would say that the flavour in this sauce does not beat my other favourite place to make pad thai, but it was still a great dish. Lastly: Pa Graw Praw Pork ( we chose) sauteed with onions, bell peppers, baby corn, and sweet basil in a spicy garlic sauce. Spicy ( listed as but we didnt register any spiciness). We had accidentally ordered this dish, I had wanted the Panang curry and wasnt paying attention and accidentally ordered this one. Boy were we not disappinted!! This ended up being the favourite dish for 2 of us ( third person like the Spicy green curry the most) The dish had a savoury garlic sauce of a perfect consistency, the sweet basil finished the flavours all off, very satisfying, the dish did not make it to the leftovers stage. I was really hoping the pork would not be fatty or chewy and it was not! It was tender and flavourful. Also keep in mid that during Covid, restaurants are not making their usual sales! Their kitchens are running on minimal staff to keep afloat. As per other reviews mentioned ( about long wait times), we ordered at 5:20 and got our food around 6:40 ordering through Uber eats. Yes it took a while, but this was also ordering during dinner rush AND rush hour for the Uber eats driver! We did not mind. Order ahead and be prepared to wait for the goodness to come.
Update 2021/05/10 food quality has suffered in the past few months, I really want to keep supporting my favourite Thai restaurant, but if their quality doesn t improve I ll move onto a different place. Was 5 stars from me.
So delicious! Ask for number 46. You cant eat this fried rice standing; youre knees will buckle! Even your farts are extra flavorful (scentwise) after eating here! If it were financially possible I would have dinner here every night! 5 stars!
This review is getting posted very late because I completely forgot about it until I saw the photos in my phone. We have ordered from Sabai Thai a couple of times already and both time were extremely satisfied with the taste and portion. The dishes were so creamy and just enough spice to keep it dancing on your palette and remember it for days after. We will most definitely be ordering from there again. I have posted some photos but honestly don t remember exactly which dishes we got. All I know is that we love the coconut milk based dishes so went crazy and got all three dishes with coconut milk :-)
Great food
Got some medium-spicy chicken Pad Thai and some spring roles delivered. Wow! Will be ordering again the next time were in the mood for sure!
This is our go to for consistent and delicious Thai Food. Highly recommended!
The food is great!! Have not eaten there in a year but regularly have their meals as takeout.
We ordered 5 dishes and 2 soups - so a decent sized order. The dishes were all delicious! Well prepared and generous quantities. Very pleased with the service.
Not very good unfortunately. The chicken satay was my least favourite.
Aug 2019 - Very good food. Service was slow. Great value. Oct 2012 - Tried take out as the they are not open for dine in yet. Sadly not the same quality of food. Ordered #1 Chicken Satay. Wasnt Charbroiled tasted like it was cooked in an oven. #7 Fish cakes. By the time I got this home the breading was like biting through a brown paper bag, fish was nice and firm, but lacked flavor. Had to reread the menu, I have a hard time believing this was marinated first. #19 Red Curry (Spicy). Ordered with chicken and asked for 5/5 spicy. Chicken pieces were quite small, and over cooked. The bell peppers were huge, compared to the chicken. The Ground Roasted Peanuts would have been nice, but they didnt make it into my dish. The lime leaf... maybe 1/4 of a leaf sliced hair thin. For a 5/5 heat, it was what I would expect without needing to ask for 5/5, a thai dish with no Thai hot peppers. Very average takeout. Too bad.
Enjoyed a delightful surprise birthday dinner from a dear friend in Toronto! The food was delicious! We had green curry, veggie Pad Thai, Chicken with eggplant, shrimp rolls, chicken satay and tempura. All was well prepared and very generous amounts. Will eat-in next time!
Just ordered this dish # 38 Thai basil Chicken. For sake of all look at the Red Onion full size . Quality deteriorated big time we are literally fishing for chicken admist the big chunks of onions and peppers :( this used to be my go to Thai restaurant .very sad.
Just ordered 2 pad thaï on Uber eats never again! Noodles waaay over cooked shrimps under cooked and all that for the fantastic price of 45$. They probably buy stars because I don t know how you can give a 5 stars to this place!
Friendly staff with very good food! The only place we order takeout from (that isnt pizza lol)!
Favourite Thai takeout in Kanata! We ve ordered from here many times and the food is consistently delicious- everything is so flavorful! Portions and pricing are fair. Highly recommend!
Very good!
Amazing food and service. Best Thai food Ive had in Ottawa by far!
Came here with the family and was not disappointed. Food tastes great and prices are good. I had the Kaow Ob Supparod. Yes. Its served in a pineapple shell :)
Sooo good. Service is great and fiid was awesome. I cant wait to go again.
Ive enjoyed all the meals Ive had here.
Love the lunch special.
The food is excellent and priced appropriately. Service is a little slow but understandable since the place was packed for lunch.
Favourite thai spot in kanata. Fresh rolls are fantastic!
Great lunch, one serving good for two
Great tasting Thai Food
Delicious!
Good place and friendly staff. Food was okay
Sabai Thai serves beautifully presented dishes with lots of flavour. I ordered the TOM KHA (THAI COCONUT SOUP) with shrimp and the PAD KI MOW (SPICY) with chicken. I enjoyed the creaminess of the soup and the flavour of the Pad Ki Mow was amazing (great sweet and spicy taste with hints of anise and ginger)
Their lunch platter is amazing!
Ive been to Sabai Thai a few times and absolutely love the food they serve! I love supporting family owned businesses and Sabai Thai does an amazing job serving their customers and getting involved in the Ottawa community. Keep up the great work!! I cant wait to go back for some delicious food.
My favourite Thai spot in the ottawa area!
The food here is absolutely delicious! I ve got a severe nut allergy and I m always weary of having Thai food. But at Sabai Thai, they ve got a whole separate wok and tools for people like me. This makes me feel comfortable and safe ordering and dining here! Shoutout to all the staff for working hard!
Food is delicious, and this is the sort of place that is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your food, i suggested a new menu option and they straight up added it to my bill for free. Hope they liked my idea! gotta be the best thai place in town, highly reccomend!
Love this place! So much flavour in the food. Every single bite tastes authentic.
I have eaten here for lunch and some takeout on the way home. The food was really good both times. The pineapple curry and pad thai were really good. Will definitely get food from here again.
Been looking for a great Thai food place, and THIS ... IS .. IT! So good!
Delicious food! We got take-out and the food was seriously fantastic! The flavours were on point and the consistency of the curry sauce was perfect (not too watery but not like a full on stew). Would definitely recommend!
Nice people, delicious food. Try the duck in red curry with a side of sticky rice, it s unreal!
Great food, good service :)
BEST THAI IN THE CITY! A huge menu with all the Thai favourites! Quality is amazing! Also great gluten free selection for celiac friends! Would 100% recommend
Cute little restaurant, we usually order take out. Tasty Thai food, good portion sizes.
When I first moved here from Toronto I was scared that I wouldnt find good Thai food. Sabai Thai proved me wrong. The food is delicious and the staff is great.
Best Thai in Ottawa. Since Nokham on Richmond closed down it was hard to find amazing Thai food. Since finding this place, cant eat anywhere else. Thank you for the great food!
Flavors are decent but stingy on the ingredients and upsells. We ordered shrimp green curry only to end up with mostly gravy (which was quite decent) but with 5 small shrimp. For 17 dollars a dish, this is a bit ridiculous. We also ordered vegetarian dishes where tofu was an additional cost. So you will end up with a vegetarian dish that likely will end up costing more than a meat dish. Which is again totally absurd.
Fave lunch spot in Kanata. The lunch special is consistently amazing.
Love the food, but order early. Ive orderd from this place on Skip the Dishes or Uber Eats four times and it takes an HOUR LONGER than the app predicts because of delays preparing the food. Every. Time.
This place used to be absolutely AMAZING...but theyve either changed their chef or their curry recipes. We always ordered the red and green curries, and the last two times we got it, it was nothing but oil. If you decide to give it a go, make sure you place your order before 7pm and good luck!! Well be waiting till next year before we order again in Hope that the quality of food goes back up to what were used to by then.
Their Pad Thai and their Panang Curry are some of the best dishes in Ottawa. I am not exaggerating.
Best spot in Kanata North for curry. So good!
Best thai food in Ottawa hands down. The pad thai and fried rice are amazing.
Authentic recipes that are out of this world delicious. If you want a real Thai food experience, go here and you are in for a treat. Shout out to Melissa for the great service and recommendations!
Great staff and delicious food. It is hard to find a decent restaurant in Kanata sometimes (most places are fast food or chain restaurants). Nice place in a small strip mall. Would recommend for a good meal in Kanata although I wouldnt travel far for it...
Combo is the best
delicious food, great service! Will def be back and would definitely recommend to others!! Hidden gem in Kanata!
I miss good Thai food and I found it here! Thai yellow curry is my favourite. It was so good. I was very happy. My partner liked the pad thai. Portion is good as well as price. You get a hot and sour soup as a starter. Staff is great and attentive. We went for lunch. I would come here again if we were in the area.
Great food and service, along with presentstion. Always a big fan of the curry.
