acc off Lawrence in the back ally, 541 Bernard Ave #101, Kelowna, BC V1Y 6L7, Canada
We stopped by and look for oxtail. Unfortunately, they were sold out. So we try the jerk chicken and pork. Man, can't say no more, the best pork I had ever tasted in Kelowna. And the food is huge in size! Definitely the hidden gem in downtown area. I am now more excited for oxtail🫡
I was visiting BC for the first time and sought out this restaurant and let me say, it did not disappoint. The parrot fish with rice and peas was the best I've had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly spiced, it had authentic Jamaican flavors and reminded me of home. The fried chicken and rice and peas was amazing too. Give this spot a try if you are in the area 🖤💚💛
Amazing food, a little spicy for my pallette, but delicious and more than worth any discomfort! Great portion size, highly recommended!!
Okay so the negative reviews this place has are definitely fake or written by haters. It is hard to reach if you follow google maps (you have to access it from the back and have to walk around to get to the ally). When i got it, i think may have ordered from the owner.. I was between the goat curry and jerk chicken, but opted for the curry. When i got my food (always served in take out boxes), the owner gave me a little jerk chicken to try. Very nice of him!! I went to the beach to eat as the restaurant it self is quite dark. The portion is HUGE, and surprisingly for the price, i got atleast a pound goat meat. The curry was so damn delicious and the meat was so tender and broke down like butter. The rice with beans were outstanding. This was my first Caribbean meal ever and itll be very hard to top it. Highly recommended.
This place is so unique for kelowna. The location and the vibe is great. Had the Jerk Chicken 4 times now. I get it without the rice but only cause I don’t eat grains ever. It’s soo good 10/10 I’ll be back quite often it’s hard to find unbattered unbreaded well made chicken around here. Let alone some bomb jerk chicken and you can’t beat the price
Best traditional Jamaican good around for miles!!!! I went 45 minutes one way out of my direction to stop here before heading back to Vancouver Island. Food is fast tasty and plenty 😁
I ate here this afternoon after a Google search while on vacation. The portions are generous, food came out fresh, hot and bwoy was it ever delicious. If your visiting or local and looking to fill your belly check out The House of the Caribbean ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🌴 🇯🇲 ☀️
You guys right behind where I work but I have been missing it... I got the Jerk Chicken and it was so good. Cheers. Edited: I stopped by again with my colleague a weeks ago and myself today. Superb. I really want to try other option but Jerk Chicken is so addictive.
Great place
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Food
First time trying Jamaican food, that s really good!
This place is so great; their prices are so worth the value, the staff was super friendly and welcoming, and they even made me a veggie friendly meal on the spot thanks Desmond for being so wonderful and I can t wait to come back and try the rest of the food and come for one of the weekend parties!
Great curried goat and jerked chicken for our group today. Veggies included were delicious and had me trying to figure out how they were seasoned. Huge portion of everything and in particular the peas and rice. Proprietor and all the guests really made us feel welcome and included. The establishment has a very authentic feel, look and vibe. All four of us will be going back.
Amazing food. Massive portions and great service. Good spot to find Caribbean food grocery supplies. If youre in the area, Caribbean House is a must-visit on the weekends for good food, great wine, and loud music. This is also a great place to go grocery shopping. Whether you dine in or order takeout, you can experience authentic Caribbean flavors. Its also the best value for money of any restaurant Ive ever eaten at, well, except for the buffet. But this place offers amazing flavors and tons of food.
Beef oxtail & Goat Roti is amazing. Best Jamaican food in town and a lot of portions of the food for the price.
Good food
Phenomenal food
Absolutely delicious! Probably the best jerk chicken I ve ever had. Portion was very generous and worth it for the price tag!! The bad reviews are probably bots tbh. Try this place out for yourself!
Best Jerk chicken in the city. Good customer service as well.
Amazing food plus great vibes. Hidden gem in Kelowna.
Gold.
4 years been coming to the is amazing Jamaican vibe of music, food and people!!!
Excellent food, good portions.
This place is awesome! Such an amazing vibe! Food is amazing! Portions are huge! Prices are great! Super friendly staff! What s not to like! Thank you!
Love this spot. Food : 5/5
We love their food. We always go for their ox tail, curry, and jerk pork.
Good vibes, food and music. A little bit of Caribbean in Canada. Parking: Easy access and parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchairs.
I have been taking out food for the last few years and they have never disappointed me with the quality and the serving size. I only come to Kelowna once a year and will always get take out. Thank you for the good Caribbean food.
I was fortunate to have met someone who showed me this place (WOW) food was delicious so full of flavor, reasonably priced (large portion), and the vibe was truly authentic! Highly recommended! Ill be back
Excellent food, authentic and very friendly service!
I tried to find this place twice before but couldn t find it and assumed it was closed down so I tried again today and they told me it was in the back alley. I went in and I got friendly service and I had two meals prepped within five minutes only $19 each and I swear they must ve both each weighed at least 7 pounds. to last for several meals to take home. The quality was excellent. The portions were humungous and the food was amazing. I will definitely be back. This is one heck of hidden gem in Kelowna.
Juicy beef patty
Authentic Jamaican food, freakin terrific! Great jerk chicken and tasty oxtail. It s a hidden treasure in a little alley that s worth the detour
Curry Chicken: $19 I wanted to have Jamaican food and have a great experience to turn me on, but not sure if this is the place that would give me that. Service: There was none. Theres 3 staff on and all talking with each other. We sat down, thinking theyd bring a menu but a gal said you go read it off the wall. 1 x 2 big. Thats ok but no one tells you right away. Its more for me a takeout place. No free water, you pay. Food comes in a takeout styrofoam container with a plastic fork. They bo theres 2 of us but we had to ask for a second fork to share it together, with germs/saliva, from maybe one of us, Not at all hygienic. They didnt offer a second plastic styrofoam so we could split it. We had to ask for it, as theres 2 of us sitting together. He brings a bowl container, but we wanted to leave so I asked for a lid. Not one person asked us if we needed anything or if everything was ok at our table while we were eating. Tacky. All still talking. Foid: For me, it was basic. Lots of rice/beans, which was good. The chicken tasted ok but there wasnt much of it as more bones to work around. Stir fry section was bland. Atmosphere: Looks like they have a party night with big speakers, maybe that would be cool to see what thats all about, but not going back. Place not organized. Overall a 2-star for us. Is more of a takeout place for me. Disappointed! Ill go try another Jamaican restaurant in town. Sorry owners, but we expected more. Youre too busy talking and not paying attention to two customers. Cheers ....
This is one of the best Caribbean restaurants Ive eaten at. I love how they cook their cuisine, and the serving is really fantastic. The services and environment of this restaurant are excellent.
Big portions of food. Yummy sauces for oxtail and jerk chicken. Delicious big beans in oxtail dish. There is not a wide range of drinks to choose from other than alcohol but not a huge deal
I would definitely recommend this place. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. They also have good prices for the amount of food they give you.
Horrible service, these guys took our order and just forgot about us. Waited 30 minutes and they told us the kitchen is already closed, left with empty stomachs! Absolutely ridiculous!
THE SERVICE NEED WORK! you call, no answer. The service is lacking and people are extremely rude! They lost good business with me. Never again would I order or recommend this establishment. Sucks!! Work on your customer service skills bruh!!.
Kelowna s Perogy Prince of Cecil s Perogies high recommends This place. Fantastic food Food : 5/5
Amazing food, service was good. We took dinner to go. My two kids and I shared a mix meal with the goat and the chicken. The kids loved the chicken and the goat was delicious. Thanks so much!
[Its around back] Some great food, glad I found the place. Good services, everyones friendly. Food was so quick, I didnt get time to study lol. Will be back and definitely recommend Food : 5/5
Go around back if your walking on Bernard. Super great food
Fantastic food, totally authentic and Jack is a great host too
100% disgusting food this is not authentic and the names should not trick you it s a major safety hazard with bones in a wrap and the quality itself is poor poor wet sawgy it s grosss!!!! Save your money bro i have been allover canada not just bc with tasting amazing food that has nothing compared to what this garbage food tastes like watery gravey bones puke
Honestly the best Jamaican food and restaurant on the west coast point blank period!!!!
Food was great and service friendly. Our order was somewhat specialty in that we were feeding a group and asked for catering type pans of each item, they accommodated the request. Would I eat here again ... without question. Maybe a little more $$ than Id expected but everyone raved about the food.
Great curry goat! The manager is very friendly here.
Best meal I have eaten in a restaurant in Canada. Authentic African/Caribbean foods. The price was worth every piece of the food. Physically and Psychologically satisfied. I will sure come again.
Hidden gem. Smells like a BBQ cookout parlor, delicious spicy food from the islands.
Great food. I ve been looking for a place that has oxtail ever since I moved here from Vancouver. A little hard to find as Google says it s on Bernard street. It s directly at that address but around back with access in the alley way.
I have never rated a restaurant this high in my life. Im away from home and this made me feel so comfortable TJ is good people. The prices and portions.. wow.big up yuhself Updated*** went back before leaving.. very good.
Damn, dont miss this killer little spot! Tucked back in the alley between Bernard and Lawrence. Proper food and great atmosphere. 10/10 Food
This place is nothing fancy but the food is delicious and you get a generous serving. Its a small restaurant that fronts into a back alley that appears to cater to mostly takeout. Looks like it is a fun place on weekends as they have a dj playing music.
Loved the jerked chicken. The atmosphere was great. I moved to Kelowna for the weather and lifestyle but the food scene isnt great. Its the first time since I moved to Kelowna, that I have felt in foodie heaven. I will be back.
Bod mon tings
5 stars for the food. The jerk pork ($20) and chicken ($18) are absolutely delicious and so spicy. The portions so big too. I love the rice and beans and the veggies that come with the meat. The only problem is how hard it is to eat because of its spice (personally). But I 100% recommend eating these foods if you can take some heat. I have to state, though, that the store is not exactly a restaurant.
From the moment I walked into the house of the Caribbean restaurant, I could tell I was in for a treat. The decor and atmosphere were inviting and set the tone for a memorable dining experience. I quickly scanned the menu and decided to order the jerk chicken with rice and beans, cabbage, and of course, more jerk chicken. When my order arrived, I was blown away by the aroma and presentation of the dish. The rice and beans were cooked to perfection, and the cabbage was crisp and fresh. But the real star of the show was the jerk chicken. I could immediately taste the bold and spicy flavors that are so characteristic of authentic Jamaican jerk chicken. The meat was tender and juicy, and the seasoning had penetrated deep into the flesh. It was clear that the chef at the house of the Caribbean knew what they were doing when it came to preparing jerk chicken. Overall, I would highly recommend the house of the Caribbean restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Caribbean dining experience. The jerk chicken is a must-try and I guarantee you wont be disappointed. So if youre in Kelowna and craving some Caribbean flavor, head over to the house of the Caribbean and get ready for a culinary adventure.
Flavours were on point. Love the seasoning. Delicious. some of the best Jamaican food I ever had. Got the jerk pork and oxtail
The food was spicy
My favorite place to go
Didn t have food did have a couple drinks and listen to some great music staff is awesome and really fun and electric atmosphere
Absolute 10/10, portion sizes are massive. Oxtail basically fell off the bone, jerk chicken was perfectly cooked, seasoned proper. Definitely coming back!
Amazing value for delicious Caribbean eats
Have to admit, it was pretty hard to find the place and the food was worth it. Felt like the rice was a bit dry but when paired up with any meat, it works out to be a very flavorful bite. Overall I enjoyed it.
Parking: Food is delicious. A taste of home !! Atmosphere
Yesterday was my first experience with The House of Caribbean. While working as a First Responder at the wild fires, the owners, Michael and Lisa attended our location. They surprised us with hot lunches of jerk chicken from their restaurant. They thanked us for our service and protecting their community We were over whelmed by their kindness and compassion. The lunch was amazing. I will definitely make their restaurant a regular visit. Do yourself a favor and visit this place.
Great place to kick it, get some grub while you are there.
I had the oxtail with rice & peas and wow it was so good! A nice taste of home!
The food is really delicious! Always stop by whenever I m in Kelowna.
This place is amazing. The food is incredible. Very nice people.
The oxtail is next to none.
Very high quality food and beverages
Delicious! Great value for money, which is extremely difficult to find these days. Tasty, comforting food, and big portions. I ll be back very soon.
The House of the Caribbean is a hidden lil gem in downtown Kelowna. We did takeout. The oxtail was tender, comforting, and nearly fell off the bone. The jerk chicken was packed with flavour and very spicy! There was enough for leftovers the next day. Great value and we will be back again to try something new.
Boutique style Carribean dishes and food store. Authentic dishes, the meat patties are highly recommended 5$. Meat dishes arround 18 to 20$. Well made good portions!
Fine
My new favorite spot in Kelowna.
This place is amazing. After living in Scarborough in 2001 for a few years I was lucky to have several Caribbean restaurants nearby, and the House of the Caribbean helps to fill this gap in my heart! One of my favourite things on earth is goat roti, and this place delivers the goods. Paired with scorpion hot sauce is incredible. I highly recommend trying this place out. 5/5, fan-fing-tastic!
Food was great and the vibe was great! Felt like I was back in Jamaica. Definitely going to come again!
Service was VERY slow but the food was EXCELLENT! We almost left because they were taking so long but in the end we were glad we ordered because it was very tasty!
Our friends who live in the Lower Mainland told us about this parking-lot-hidden gem and LORD, we are ever so grateful we found this spot. Their jerk chicken - on point and full flavoured delivered. Their oxtail - super tender from beginning to end. Goat Roti - so yummy, I could see myself driving to Kelowna from Vancouver for another one. I highly recommend this place, as its worth the wait, and the food is super authentic. I am excited to tell of my friends who visit that this Kelowna Caribbean spot is LIT!
Just moved to Kelowna from Toronto and was missing authentic Caribbean food. My wife and I ordered the jerk chicken and it was absolutely phenomenal. This place is the real deal! Will be returning soon!
So authentic and delicious! Moved to Kelowna from Ontario in September and have been missing jerk chicken since.. this place is LEGIT. The flavor and spices are perfect. So happy to have found this hidden gem.

Walked by in the afternoon when charcoal bbq s were being prepared and made an instant decision to go back for dinner. Awesome Caribbean vibe awaited us when we went back at night for jerk chicken dinners. Took them to go and had a beer while we waited. Absolutely delicious - literally would not change a thing. Awesome experience .

Yummy food. Very friendly people. You have to try it.
Delicious flavors but the roti was just bones, hardly any potato or chicken. I had to order a pizza after.
New renovations make it the place to be. He welcomes all caribbean natives and those who want to experience a little of the caribbean
