I have spent extensive time travelling throughout India and now rely on Bunk House Desi Junction to fulfill what is typically only available in India. It reminds me so much of the food I had along my travels and is now my favourite Indian spot in Kelowna. The authenticity is unmatched by any other Indian cuisine in Kelowna. Luckily for me I live up the road from Bunk House and get to enjoy their takeout and dining in options frequently. A total sleeper in Kelowna so if your in need for some amazing food this is the spot!!!
The Indian food is delicious! It had the perfect spice, the naan was just a little crispy, and the price was great! Our service was awesome! We will be back!!
Had a very early dinner there yesterday and we almost left (empty, quiet) before ordering - glad we stayed because the food was delicious! We ordered classic Indian - butter chicken, palek paneer, aloo Goni, rice, naan. The atmosphere isn’t special, the service was basic but attentive, but the food 100% made up for it. Portions were more than enough for 3, and price was very good.
I was there as a guest for a golf tournament that was supposed to have dinner ready by 5:30pm. The first red flag was when the server had no clue how to make a rye and ginger. They had no beer on tap and their alcohol stock was non existent. This was at 1pm. She was very sweet but had zero bartending experience. Once we were all seated for dinner, the buffet of 'appies' came out. This consisted of nacho chips, chicken wings, various sauces and a dish I didn't recognize but was incredibly bland despite adding sauce. There was over 70 people in attendance and many had no food and very little to drink. By 7:30pm I left. Apparently dinner came out at 8pm but most people had left by then.
Food was good - tasty and with good portion size. Lots of options on the menu. However, the atmosphere and service were nowhere close to the food quality. The restaurant was empty, which I know no one has control over, and inside there were too many flies for a dining room, which was quite annoying. Our server was probably new, and did not seem to be comfortable in her role, affecting her performance. She did not come through as welcoming and friendly as servers in other places generally are. I think next time we will order take-out if we wanted to try their meals.
I’m delighted to share my experience at the Bunk House, which serves the most authentic and mouth-watering Indian cuisine I’ve had in a long while. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting, much like the dishes they serve. The food was nothing short of excellent, featuring a wide array of genuine Indian flavors. Each dish was rich, well-seasoned, and perfectly balanced. I was particularly taken by their desserts, which were a heavenly end to an already outstanding meal. The service was top-notch as well. The staff were attentive, friendly, and highly knowledgeable about the menu, which made for an all-around enjoyable dining experience. If you’re a fan of Indian food—or if you’re looking to try it for the first time—I highly recommend giving the Bunk House a try. It’s hands-down the best Indian food in town.
Unfortunately I can never count on this place. Since I live up the road, I try to stop in at least once a year to see if they’ve made any changes. The Service STILL terrible and you never know if they’re going to have food or drinks available. This space is DEFINITELY not living up to its potential. Definitely miss the old bunk house. Hopefully they start making some changes and paying attention to the dine-in customers not just take out…. CHEERS TO HOPING
I am from Calgary and eat a lot of Indian food. This family run restaurant couldn’t get anymore authentic! Amazing food with many levels of flavor. Whatever negative comments prior customers have to say is obviously 100% corrected. I could only get through half of my meal, portions were fine. Service was sincere and attentive. Bravo! This family deserves to be cooking for the elite!

I had visited Italy before 2 years and I just eat the same taste which I had eaten in Italy. The pizza was just awesome . Will surely prefer everyone to give it a try. Staff is very nice and very polite. And also the pool table was just superb ..

This hidden gem I believe has some of the tastiest Indian food in Kelowna! Authentic spices and flavors. My wife and I order about 1x per week and love it. Vegetarian options: Gluten free

Valentines Day ruined. We were treated like outcasts. They gave us our food, then totally ignored us. But payed great attention to their own customers of the same nationality, checking on them, bringing water, etc, even though they passed by our table to do it. We had to flag them down for water. Then when we finished our meal and told them we were done. It took over a half hour to get our bill, even after them asking us 4 times if we were done. We only got our bill after I threatened to walk out without paying. We missed our next part of our date night because of it. Not even busy when were there or an apology, she tried to blame us, saying she thought we were watching tv.
My gf and I happened to pop in here for lunch the other day because the place we were planning on going to was closed! What a delightful little restaurant this is - the staff are very friendly and the food is delicious! The best Indian food I have had in Kelowna! Will definitely be going back

I ve eaten here. A few times last time was a Friday went in with a few friends. They said they were unable to serve us because they had no food . Friday at 6 pm. Every single time I have been there, there was no one other than me and who I m with services absolutely brutal with a huge language barrier.

I was in as a delivery driver. The place looks like a country western place. Except for the South Asian music playing. Further, after ringing the bell for service I waited 4 more minutes. The place was completely empty. If it wasnt so far out of the way I would have left. I have no reason to ever drive out there for a meal.

The food is ok, ambiance is great the seating capacity is huge but for some reason there was literally noone except us when we visited , probably due to the location and time of the dat. But as the business grows it would be a great place to dine in.
TBH, I normally don t post any reviews but what I experienced in past few days & especially yesterday , made it a necessity. This place used to be my favourite and go to because of it s service, food- in the matters of taste and quantity. But unfortunately Not anymore. It s been a month and i have been visiting this place more often in that period. I m not that kind of person who would generally try anything new so whenever I order my regulars the recipe of that dish is always changed ! They are not very consistent with their recipes and taste. Presentation of the food was zero, completely figurative that they are showing no interest in serving their customers well and I don t know what should i say about the quantity they are serving. From my last few visits, I m observing that they are decreasing the quantity of their food little by little with the same price and now it s way to less than a average person needs to fulfill his appetite.The main course s quantity felt like as if it s of a starter. The waitress seems like new to the job and perplexed. No one came to the table to ask if we needed anything else and were completely brushed away even though we tried to call someone to order for the drinks. After waiting for like 15 minutes, we called the restaurant just by sitting in front of them for what we needed. That was really unprofessional and disrespectful. They truly lost my business, even not going to recommend this restaurant to anyone else.
Went on a wednesday for wings, server and other employees behind the bar seemed to be intoxicated. Service was slower than usual and wing quality was worse, although the wings never were very good Edit: 4 years later and the wings came straight from superstore
Their butter chicken is made with processed chicken breast cut in perfect size cubes that doesnt even taste like chicken. Most boring butter chicken Ive ever had. I ordered samosas, they came in a brown paper bag. The bag was dripping with so much oil that I actually had to put a plate under the bag so that it didnt end up all over my refrigerator shelving. If you want authentic delicious East Indian food go to made in India on the corner of benvoland and klo. Their mango chicken is to die for and its real chicken. I dont think these people even care about their customers, not only is there food poor they are unfriendly.

Our party of 7 had a very good experience tonight ordering their delicious Indian food. It is clear some kinks need to be worked out in terms of service but they were attentive and we all were very happy with our experience and the effort that the family put in to make sure we were happy. We would and will definitely come again. Presentation great/ food all very good. Nice family run restaurant with the sounds of their little kids in the background as we left the establishment around 8:30pm.

What can I say about this place. The service was good, but what do we do with the services if the food taste that awful. I can say one thing, this made a pregnant women more angry. Places like this shouldnt serve food if they do not how to cook. Seriously save your money and EAT AT HOME.

Ash was an amazing server and host. The food was incredible. We came Wednesday and had wings for $6.50 which were delicious. I also had the butter chicken which was the bomb!!! Great place, great people, great food!!!
This place is definitely 5 stars! Delicious food, amazing customer service by Ash and his team. I had the butter chicken and will definitely come back. Authentic! The naan bread was yummy! I was able to enjoy a home cooked meal with my daughter which I was not able to do next door at the pub.
Had lunch with my friends here, food was great! I think they have the best naan bread in Kelowna. The lamb curry was fire! The server simi was also super nice and attentive. Highly recommended

We ordered food from here through uber eats, we specifically wrote in the notes section to add napkins and cutlery in addition to checking the request cutlery section . But, they didn t bother about it at all. we had ice cream in our order, I don t know how they expect their customer to eat it without any spoon.

Overall the food was decent. Presentaion was nothing special, taste was the same. However, the customer service is severely lacking. Adding an item implies it would be on top of what youre already ordering; not an overpriced replacement. And doing nothing on purpose about the miscommunication is disappointing to say the least.

We were working with our utilities crew out front. They brought us out coffee and samosas at lunch time then brought us out pakora and coffee in the afternoon. This kindness was greatly appreciated and the food was awesome. I will definitely return as a paying customer.

Happy to provide a great review for this new restaraunt in the neighbourhood. Desi Junction has an authentic Indian cuisine menu available as well as North American. We had Fish pakora, lamb biryani and butter chicken. And two kinds of naan! Dessert was also very good; rasmalai. 5 stars!
Very impressed with the changes that have been made. The food was amazing. I haven t had Indian food like this since being in India. They kept just enough of the original elements to keep it feeling like the restaurant my family and I used to visit all the time when I was little!

Amazing Indian food! The paneer dishes are fantastic, I m so happy this place changed owners. The chefs are killing it! Update: I tried the pizza, and the dough is very good. I had the tandoori chicken , the butter chicken, and the bbq chicken. And they were all great and the spice levels were exactly what I wanted.
We went today and it was really good food and a nicely renovated interior with a lot of comfortable booths. The Indian menu is comprehensive but we narrowed it down to Veg pakoras, Shahi paneer, Rice, Naan and Roti for lunch and it was all really high quality and great flavour. Besides Indian food they have kept a classic menu (wings, nachos), and they also have a pizza menu. Im glad to have some high quality Indian food in East Kelowna :)

Weve had two opportunities to experience the NEW & IMPROVED - first an Indian take-out (take-away) where we enjoyed 2- perfectly prepared (catered to the spice heat VERY well) Indian dishes. My Lamb Vindaloo (hot) was excellent with ample, tender pieces of lamb and a sauce loaded with some vegetables and potatoes (lots of food - it ended up as 3-meals)!! My wifes Chicken Tikka was equally prepared to meet her spice needs! Our second visit in the pub was for Weds. Wing Night, although, yearning for more authentic Indian tastes, we just had to try their wings, the Lemon Pepper order were perfectly prepared and flavored! The on tap lager was a perfect partner! I hadnt enjoyed a decent Biryani since my time in the Middle East, so the Lamb Biryani they prepared for me (hot) was indeed hot - but to my liking. Perfect heat for me, but the lesson here, is know your comfort level with Indian spices! The dish was again perfectly prepared - plenty of food to share. My wifes Chicken Samosas were HUGE and an excellent meal for her - they were the best weve had for quite some time! If you enjoy your Indian foods, you MUST support this place! NOTE: When golf season opens - expect the place will open for breakfast!!

Like a lot of the previous posters I have fond memories of the Chinese food at the Bunkhouse. We decided to give the new format a try. Oh my. It is so good. In particular, the mango chicken curry with naan bread is so delicious. Service was prompt and very friendly. We will go back again (and again!)

We a group of 4 golf every Saturday and have done so for many years. New owner with reno so went there again. Had ben going there for over 20 years Ordered water and coffee . Water came and 20 minutes later the coffee showed up. We ordered breakfast and an hour later 1/2 of it came. Later the other 2 orders showed up and one was not worth eating. Never did get any extra coffee or water Extremely disappointed and will not be back . Dont have over and hour just to get breakfast.

I expect quality food as I check review but personally I would say the soup was not soup it was literally gravy and lentil and Naan and dal Makhani also not taste good so disappointed finally i would not recommend anyone.

So far, Ive tried Biryani from 5-6 different restaurants in Kelowna and this one tops my list. Authentic taste, not blanded down. I had ordered via Doordash and they were generous enough to send some Gulab Jamuns to try. They were tasty too. Look forward to visit in person! :-)
Tried this place out last night as was not disappointed. We had the mango chicken and coconut lamb and they were both phenomenal. Very friendly staff and good service considering there was one lady serving the whole place. It got busy fast so make sure you get there early!!! The pizza is also great as I have ordered it on several occasions.

Food was very good. Took over 80 min to get our order delivered and we are literally 4 min away. Flavors are there but when you get more bones than meat (Goat curry) it makes it way overpriced. Small pieces of chicken and dishes not even full. Think we will stick to other places from now on.

The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. The staff is quite knowledgeable and can make great recommendations. The service is unmatched in town and will be definitely back again. Food - I d definitely rate them top of the list when compared to other Indian restaurants in the city.

I have ordered take out from this place twice. First time, one of the items was wrong but they were very good about it. Second time, both my curries are tasteless! I had to re-cook them when I got home because there was no salt or enough spices. What if someone doesnt have spices handy? I am not sure why this happened, but I dont think I will return to this place again :(

Went for supper tonight waited 20 min and I still asked for our beverage order to be taken. The meal all came separately cold onion rings 6 onion rings for 6 dollars cold then deep fried pickles 7 pieces for 9 dollars thick batter no flavor also 1 napkin 1 fork table of 4 nobody was asked if they wanted another drink not even water. Then when the kids had picked at the cold food and we were ready to leave then the pizza came as we are paying the bill I am disappointed with the food absolutely the worst service ever I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone bad service over priced Such a huge cost for such a bad meal terrible service

Good taste is largely personal preference and I dont want to insulator criticize additive but this is based on my familys experience at this restaurant. There is nothing bad about the food here but I prefer some of the other Indian restaurants in town. Im not naming them here because I this is a review not an ad. Fish pakora was great, the highlight of our meal Veg Manchurian was good, Chinese food from India essentially Butter chicken was ok. Naan was bland. Saffron rice had no flavour. Raita was too watery. Prices were average, service was ok.

I am very disappointed when I went to your establishment Jan 30,2020 and found it closed with a sign ..CLOSE FOR THE SEASON. However your website gives open hours which we did check prior to going to your establishment. Since you are not centrally located I didnt like driving miles only to find a closed sign. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE...... What make your time more valuable than mine ?? Not a nice way to treat potential customers...... Actually this is the second time I attempted to visit your establishment and found it CLOSED. No it wasnt holiday hours... Unreliable open hours and website...NOT NICE...

WORTH A VISIT. My husband and I were very sad to see the Bunkhouse close but we were NOT DISAPPOINTED with the revival! Things have changed but not in a bad way, The Bunk house is now an Indian restaurant, the decor and menu have changed. The indian food we had(a lamb kebab) was very nice as well as our pizza and poutine. We wanted to grab a little bit of everything and were not disappointed. Prices are great as well as the flavours. And our favourite staff member from before is back working behind the bar. Good to see you again Jen. Check the new Bunk House out.

This place is wonderful. It has recently been taken over by new owners. They have an incredible menu, with so many different options. I went with my family and had Indian food. The server was very sweet and did a great job with our table. I live close by and will for sure be back.

Great food, great prices very friendly staff as well as some of the best Chinese food from Kings Kitchen which is located within the Bunkhouse.
