1451 Ellis St, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2A3, Canada
Warmly decorated restaurant with many wines to pair with Italian meat & seafood entrees.
My wife and I made a reservation late mid-week after attending an event downtown. It was quiet and relaxing, the food was impressive, and the service from Ricco(?) and Michael was excellent. I enjoyed geeking out on wines with Michael and liked their selection of wines by the glass and their extensive wine list. When in doubt, be sure to ask Michael for recommendations.
We wanted a place that was quiet and a relaxed atmosphere, where we could talk. The friendly greeting as we entered was carried through to seating. The attentive service without hovering was nice and reminded us of how things were when we used to go out for dinner years ago. Nice to have a place that has great food and wine list and guaranteed a wonderful evening. This is the way service should be! Great Pasta dish.
We've walked by this restaurant many times during our 5+ years in Kelowna, but tonight we walked by and decided to go in. From the outside we weren't even sure they were open, but saw people inside so made our way in. We were greeted almost immediately and were given a lovely table. Being a fine dining restaurant we expected the meal and experience to be relaxed and comfortable. We were not disappointed. If you want a quick turnaround go to a chain restaurant!! The decor in this restaurant maybe dated, but everything is clean. We started with cocktails which were very good. With our meal we had a glass of wine. There are a few local wineries represented on the wine list and lots of other choices. After sharing the oysters, which were clean and fresh we moved onto our main course. Both meals were two of the nightly features-risotto and rock fish ragu. Both meals were hot, plentiful and flavourful. Our server was amazing and attentive. The maitre de checked on us a few times too. We noticed most of the tables being seated were for reservations, but it wasn't a full house. Give this place a chance if you're downtown looking for somewhere to eat.
Let's start with the positive. The pasta is made fresh and it's really good. However, it goes downhill from there. Let's talk value. As an example, I ordered the meatballs for my antipasto - $19. How many meatballs do you get for $19? Two. Exactly two. My wife ordered the scallops. She thinks there were scallops in the five bites she had on a plate for $26 but not entirely sure. They weren't big enough to identify. Service was fine. Nothing outstanding but you quickly get the impression that this restaurant is trying really hard to be something it isn't - fine dining. It's what you would expect from a upper level restaurant from the late 80s to early 90s. It's now dated and tired. Worst of all is the value. $140 for 2 people - before tip. That gets you 3 glasses of wine, 2 starters, and 2 pasta dishes. Added to that, my wife ordered the carbonara and although the pasta was fresh, the sauce seemed from a package. And bacon and cream in a carbonara dish? We couldn't finish it. I thought this was to be authentic Italian? Quite possibly the worst Italian meal we have had and had to pay through the nose for it. Although this Italian family has a history, they have been in Canada far to long to claim to have authentic Italian cooking. Massively disappointing...and expensive.
This was such a lovely dining experience! The service was amazing, our server was so lovely (I just can’t remember their name!). The food was incredible. We had the gnocchi & carbonara; 12/10! Cannot recommend enough. Thank you for a lovely visit!
Excellent place, we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was the best choice. Everything was delicious and the personnel was so kind and helpful. They have a great knowledge of pairing food and wine. Definitely we are going back again!!
OMG by faaaar absolutely the best food in Kelown! If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine, just like one from Milano or Rome, be assured that this is the place you will find it! Literally, you can not go to Kelowna and not visit this place! Food wise, i would starr these: Baked scallops, bruschetta, carpaccio, three cheese tortelloni, gnocchi, cavatelli e funghi, risotto, chicken picatta, veal marsala and steak! Good they are all so good! And if you are reaaaaalllyyy hungry, then go with Tomahawk steak, that is just so good! Huge selection of wines is there to round everything up!
What a lovely, romantic restaurant in a buzzing part of town. Our dinners were excellent-everything was fresh and tasty. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, the wine list is impressive, with many hard to find bottles in the beautiful wine cellar ( many of the wines are available at their sister wine store by UBCO). This is the Italian restaurant you want to go to for special occasions or just a really great night out for a lovely dinner and a nice Italian wine.
The food is good, but not THAT good. Pretty overpriced for what you get. Has a pretty neat atmosphere though, like eating at a fancy mansion.
The food was amazing-service was excellent!
If your business hours are open to 930 you stay open till 930 turning customers away at 8 oclock because you didnt have a busy night as unacceptable
Honestly pretty good food great environment we even got to see how the chef made gnocchi and yea just a massive w overall. Every time we go to Kelowna we always choose la Bussola for special occasions. Highly recommend to anyone visiting. The owner also is really nice
agustino was amazing!! thank you so much for the awesome food and service!!
We had a fantastic dinner at La Bussola tonight. Awesome food with authentic cooking and homemade ingredients. Great chef who cooked with passion and love. Good ambience and excellent service. This place is a truly Kelowna treasure.
Had a very great experience here with my husband for a birthday dinner. Gnocchi was delicious, appys were also very good. Found the spaghetti dish to be a bit spicy. Staff were kind and wrote a birthday message on the dessert! Highly recommend this spot
The food was tastee but not wow and really overpriced for what you receive.
Great food & drinks the staff are nice and the owner is awesome the spaghetti and charcuterie appetizer were delicious definetly recommend and will be coming back.
Portions are a bit small for the price but also very delicious. I have to eat gluten free and its hard to find tasty Italian food that is gluten free. Its a very nice atmosphere inside and the staff is extremely attentive and friendly.
Do not order the TomaHawk
Nice upscale Italian dining! Excellent service!
Had carbonara and although fair, surprised they did not use quanciale, or at least pancetta! They used bacon!!! Not authentic Italian ingredients!
If you are looking for the best place to eat in Kelowna, La Bussola is the place. The quality of ingredients, and care taken by the owner/chef to prepare each dish was perfect. Every bite was flavorful and melt in your mouth. The service was impeccable, with excellent wine pairing with food recommendations, and a pleasure to chat with the servers. Will definitely be back when Im in Kelowna again.
Id say this is probably the only fine dining restraunt in kelowna. Italian at its Kelowna best. Pricey but worth it every now and then.
The best Italian restaurant we ve ever eaten at! The food and service is amazing!
Amazing service food this time was average. Disappointed no recognition for 45 year anniversary, which was reason for dining there.
This was our second time at la Bussola, the first time being very good. Last night with only 3 tables occupied, everything was just wrong. Service was poor, appetizer was incorrect, the seafood special was fair at best, and just most unenjoyable. Will not be going back so many far superior places to dine in Kelowna. Huge disappointment when dining out has become very pricy.
Incredible fresh pasta.
Great attention to detail. Very welcoming atmosphere.
Was amazing food and even better service would definitely recommend for a romantic dinner!
One of the best most authentic traditional Italian restaurants in Kelowna, BC. Ive been coming here for 49 years .
We went on New Years Eve with a good friend from Calgary. Food was perfect all 3 dinners were different and each one was wowed. Many thanksvto the great Staff and the Server who took exceptionally good care of us. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: I have some dietary issues and our server was wonderful. He worked with me and my order was Perfect
This is one of our favourite places to go eat. Wonderful staff, great atmosphere and the food is delicious and authentic.
The best Italian food in town! Fantastic experience all around. Service was top notch, setting was elegant (without being pretentious), the menu has something for all your taste buds, food is fresh and delicious and their expansive wine list/great sommelier will have the right bottle for you. The veal piccata is the best! Classic dining and will definitely return.
Always a great night!
Underwhelming. Staff friendly, but not paying attention. Wine options good. Beet and goat cheese salad had the cheese replaced with mozzarella (unannounced), flavourless. Pasta dishes were only a step above a Boston Pizza level restaurant. Risotto appeared to have used truffle oil with cheap, flavourless Chinese truffles grated on top.
Wonderful food and excellent service. Loved the round table for our group of six. Such a lovely spot for a date night or fancier date night out with couples!
Service was good. Food and drinks tasted average for a fine dining place And a bit overpriced for the portion from my opinion.
Took my wife for her birthday. Had a bunch of people tell us to come here. My parents said its their favorite. We are a mid-30s couple. We were greeted very quickly by 3 people and sat quickly which was nice. We did wait a very long time (~15min) to get any drinks or menu after being seated. Our waitress was very nice and helpful when she did make it to us. There was a couple empty tables so it wasnt insanely busy. Food was good but I will say we were both expecting amazing for the price. Not the most amazing experience for the price but it is post COVID and staff issues Im sure played into it. Will give another chance at some point in the future.
As always, the food was delicious living up to Loretta s homemade experience. Definitely one of the nicest restaurants to dine in Kelowna. We love you Loretta! And staff. Our server was very enthusiastic and amusing !
Classic Italian fare, but the food wasnt the best. Wasnt bad - just not very memorable.
Perfect Agostino server
Terrible service waited over an hour and a half for a food to show up ! Food was terrible and cold !!
Food was alright, it was missing salt in a few of the dishes. It was just average Italian food, I dont think Id go back.
For the last several years we have stayed in Kelowna on vacation. We were happy to find La Bussola and enjoyed their great food via take out last night. Next time we hope to dine in person as the restaurant looks first class. Thank you for the great meal again!
Absolutely awesome
Amazing Italian food just minutes from the beach.
Dinner was delicious! Our server Rajko provided excellent service.
Food was wonderful. Havent experienced food this good in ages. Not cheap but worth it.
Lovely restaurant and ambiance - but cant say much else. The food was not great (and everyone at the table agreed), prices were very high (and that isnt a deterrent for us, but the food should reflect that, and it didnt).
Food was tasty, and the service was excellent.
Wine was great. Food was good. My dad said it was the best risotto he ever had. Overpriced for the amount of food you get though. Augustino was our server and hes a sweetheart.
Service was the absolute best! Everyone was so attentive and our hands were never empty. Food unfortunately was bland. Dessert was good, but nothing to remember. Would try again for sure but wont be running back or recommending.
Excellent meal, great service during winter hours
One of my favourite restaurants in Kelowna, great service and great food!
Great service, fantastic fresh food .check it out . Someone special or just with good friends Parking: May have to park at the library or find it on street .
Super Classy restaurant, such excellent service. I needed a special order and Luigi and Mike were very accommodating and professional. Highly recommend for any special occasion or a fabulous date night. 5 Stars.
The last great old school dining experience in Kelowna. Do yourself a favour and have a slow dinner. Turn off your phone. In fact, leave your phone at coat check. Eat 3 or 4 courses. Order some incredible wines from their expansive list, full of lots of great back vintages and some off-beat European varietals. Enjoy the ridiculously attentive yet unobtrusive service. Your water glass will always be full. You will never be interrupted mid-bite. The servers and Mike the somm know exactly what they are doing. Oh yeah, Lauretta, she is awesome, het food is authentic and amazing. Get it already.
Amazing meal with friends.
Awesome service and fantastic food. Thank you.
Great date night spot! Wine list and recommendations are phenomenal. Food and service are above and beyond. Would definitely recommend this place.
Pretty pretentious when the food is to overpriced for the quality
We did not enjoy our dinner tonight. We felt the quality of our food was not exceptional. If your a celiac do not go to this restaurant. Very limited options and the gluten free pasta was a over cooked quinoa based instead of an Italian corn based. The mushroom marinara spaghetti was so so but a small portion. I use to enjoy this restaurant but I feel its losing its luster.
Food was amazing
Was a great dinner date. Service was top notch, and the food was good. Definitely would go again.
Dinner was okay. Maybe I just picked the wrong thing on the menu. Had the Veal Ravioli, and it was average.
Good food, great service. Not much ambiance tho.
Its been around since 1974 for a reason. The food is consistently fantastic quality and the servers are all very professional. 5/5, will return again. And again.
This italian restaurant has a long history in Kelowna the service was amazing the drinks were great and cocktails great! the food however....The restaurant had the feeling of a retirement home or an old boys golf club. Charcuterie was poor for the price 6 tiny cubes of cheese 1 pickle some white currants and a selection of meats with 3 crackers. main course didnt fare much better the baked shrimp pasta wasnt great pasta and sauce were fine but the shrimp were dry and tasteless for $42 the meat ragu had not meat apart from 3 tiny quarter inch pieces of chicken. we paid our bill as we appreciate to go out for dinner and the service was great, we wont be going back. I could see that there were many returning customers in there who seems delighted with their food but honestly it wasnt good? sorry
Appies and Entrées were on point, maybe even excellent. The dessert was a huge fail. The tiramisu was covered in chocolate power and was only a chocolate wafer and whipped cream. The creme caramel was disappointing also. Tiramisu was the worst ever had, had one bite and left it. Overall a good experience but they need to fix their desserts! Great meal that fell flat at the end. ***A stern word of caution *** make sure you order/ recieve the correct wine. We had an issue when ordering (which I will address with management) and somehow we received and consumed 2 x $1, 500.00 bottles of wine without realizing thats what was opened!! I strongly believe a huge server error was made as thats not what I ordered, so make sure you double check your wine prior to receiving it!!!
Very nice Italian restaurant,I will come back again
Wanted Italian food in Kelowna. Was kind of underwhelmed by the decor inside. Staff were really friendly though. The bruschetta was good and flavourful. Mains were good portion sizes although felt the gnocchi was quite chewy. Were disappointed that the ragu of the day was made with white fish? Never heard that before. It was good, not great. Don t know if we would come back
I called ahead to see if they had some vegan options. The chef prepared me an eggplant parm that was so yummy, it was incredible. Josh was a great server and I enjoyed my experience. Thank you.
Gorgeous place beautiful food!
Very nice restaurant. Great food.
Nice atmosphere. Small portions of pretty boring food! And the service was super slow took about 25 mins to get a drink! Gave me drinks I didnt order then tried to charge me for someone elses drinks at the end of the night! I Will not be going back here!
Very nice service.
Very disappointing and extremely overpriced! $13 for garlic toast!? I dont know how they can think their food is so special that they can justify the prices for what is offered and limited options. We wont be back.
We had the BEST time at La Bussola last night! The food was delicious and full of flavour. The staff were expetionally friendly, helpful, and humble. Being Italian I have high standards for Italian food-this place definitely surpasses that! 10/10 would recommend for a fine dining evening out:) thanks again for the wonderful service.
The food was absolutely delicious, wine was great!! Staff is very friendly.
Very expensive and very small plates ...it was very good though
Truly amazing, authentic Italian food from a great family. They are so good to their staff and customers alike! Top quality service, extensive wine list, and the food is absolutely to die for. You may think you ve had Italian before, but this is the real deal. Everything is made from scratch, fresh, and delicious! Their prices are a bit more than your average restaurant but the quality reflects the high-end ingredients they use, so you get what you pay for. La Bussola is worth every penny! And don t forget to stop at their sister restaurant, The Curious Café for a coffee or an appy.
Best Italian food in Kelowna highly recommend
Way overpriced for the food quality you get! Its a shame because service and atmosphere are great. I ordered a $30 meat ravioli plate and they were almost empty inside . On top there was a huge amount of tomato sauce so it was impossible to taste the meat. Just a disappointing experience.
Best French Onion Soup ever! Food was excellent, and the service was great too! This is a real gem of a French restaurant and the ambience is delightful.
My Dad and I were in Kelowna looking for a good, authentic Italian meal. We happened upon La Bussola, and were welcomed by smartly dressed and courteous waiters, who sat us promptly. It only got better from there. We ordered the veal parmigiana with spaghetti marinara, cappuccino and a Chianti. It arrived promptly and after the first bite, was absolutely the best veal parmigiana I have ever experienced. Furthermore, the spaghetti marinara was delicious, the cappuccino was excellent and the service was on point. We had a tiramisu for dessert, which was also quite good. We sent our compliments to the chef, who came out to introduce herself and thank us for our compliments. We learned that its family owned and operated and was established in 1974! Its easy to see why its still going strong! Everything is made from scratch with love! Its a shining example of how a restaurant should be, an experience, NOT a meal. Thank you for your dedication to what is obviously your labour of love! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy an experience instead of a meal! Were not from here, but I know where well be eating when we return. Kelowna, support your local treasure and allow them to continue to shine!
Had my birthday dinner here today. Amazing food. Everybody stuff came out hot and really well done. There was an issue with the lobster tails that we ordered. They immediately corrected it. Had not been here for over a decade. Will definitely come back. Well done
Great meal and great service
Excellent meal every time
The food was great. The service, however, was sub-par.
Decent food but service needs an upgrade. Long wait after ordering the food.
The food was fresh and flavourful.
Enjoyed another wonderful evening with a friend. The food and, the staff have always exceeded my expectations.
Atmosphere was nice & thats about it. Big disappointment for all of us, go elsewhere.
This place was recommended to us and unfortunately was very disappointing. We had cocktails and appetizers all of which were underwhelming. We had escargot and beef carpaccio. The escargot was drenched in garlic and the carpaccio was flavourless. The cocktails were poorly constructed and lacked balance. On top of that we went to order mains hoping their would be some redemption and despite a lactose intolerance, not an allergy, they would not serve us anything with cheese. The food, service and atmosphere was lacking.
The perfect place to escape the sometimes hectic pace of life and enjoy a special evening! Fine Italian dining in a classy yet casual atmosphere. The service is excellent and the sommelier is so helpful in assisting with your wine choices. All this and the homemade pastas are delicious! Central location with easy parking.
Fantastic food, good portion sizes. Would go back again!
Fabulous food and great service!
Service was horrible, had a reservation and took 30 minutes to get seated , then another 30 just to get water. Food was ok at best
Delicious food and stellar service. Highly recommend.
Appies are pricey, but entrree was fabulous
Best Italian food in Kelowna hands down, every dish is made with love and very consistent with their flavors, never had a dish a didnt like there and they always use fresh seasonal ingredients, highly recommend!
Twas a delight
i had the meatballs, lasagna and the vongole pasta there and it was one of the best italian meals i ve ever had. the ambiance was private and luxurious yet still holds a home cooked family charm.
This is one of Kelownas premiere restaurants. The food is exquisite and the service is personalized. The staff members make you feel like you truly matter to them. Always have a wonderful and relaxing time.
The room exudes classic elegance, service is a 10, food is fantastic. Dont miss this Kelowna institution, a true gem!
Very nice and attentive staff, all the food we had was delicious (lasagna noodles were slightly on the soft side for my taste) but It was still yummy! Tiramisu and triple chocolate cake were rich and delicious but not too heavy. Will be back to try more things!
had a meal there once, they were cutting corners on the risotto. needs a bit more energy
Salads are just vegetables, without any special features Worthless consumption
Great ambiance, great service and the food was amazing! We had a clam linguine, very tasty, and a seafood ravioli, best ravioli texture Ive had, not mushy pasta like most places!
We had a craving for Italian and decided to try La Bussola again after not eating there for many years. The prices are very high for what you get - for example, $16 for a green salad. Main courses dont come with any sides such as a roll or a piece of bread. If you order gnocchi, you get a plate of gnocchi and thats it. A plate of gnocchi is not a feast for the eyes even if it is for the palate. Id like to say that we were blown away by our meal but we werent - it was just okay. On a more positive note, the atmosphere at La Bussola is very nice and the service attentive.
Sadly missed the mark. My wife and I were really excited to go to our first restaurant since March while on vacation. La Bussola did a great job with the COVID policies and appropriate spacing however the service was lacking and the food was marginal and overpriced. They were sold out of our first dessert choice and the creme caramel was liquidy. My wife wasnt even offered a to go box for her more than 1/2 pasta left on her plate. Seemed like other tables were getting better service but unfortunately we were ignored and dismissed throughout all 3 courses of our meal. We wont be returning.
The waiters working there are very understanding and try to make up for the lack of taste in the food served at the restaurant. Other than that, the food just looks good. It doesn t taste like anything at all. Completely neutral tasting and NOT delicious. Not somewhere you would want to go to again.
The food was unreasonably expensive. They charged us near 300$ for 4 appetizers and 5 main courses that tasted like airplane food. I would not recommend going there.
Food
Very beautiful ambiance
Such professional servers. Amazing wine list. Beautiful food. Couldnt ask for more!
Exceptional Italian restaurant, the service is impeccable and the dishes deliciously indescribable. I have never had such good pasta!
the service was awesome, they saved this review from a lower score. The food was very expensive, very subpar, the pasta dishes lacked seasoning and much needed flavour. Over cooked pasta, very mushy and the steak I had was almost well done when I asked for medium review. Kitchen needs a lot of work.
Very nice restaurant. Clean and elegant. Excellent customer service. We were greeted the moment we walked in. Our server was Liam who was absolutely amazing. He had a polite demeanour, and he seemed like he wanted to be there. The food is very good. I would say the restaurant is definitely worth it.
Food was so delicious. Truly a fine dining experience in a friendly and traditional atmosphere
We were really quite disappointed when we tried this place out. We had it on our list to go all summer and had high hopes. The ambiance and staff were friendly enough. We ordered 3 meals between the two of us and a bottle of wine. The wine was very good. We had the elk ravioli which was the best out of the three. We also got gnocchi and the pesto which were both very bland. The gnocchi was better but still lacked flavour. The pesto had amazing presentation but was bland. The noodles were cooked beautifully. I mentioned this to the server and he quickly got me some salt and pepper. I mentioned to him at the end of the meal as well that it needed to be cooked with garlic, unfortunately it didn t seem as if the server cared much that it was bland. I took it home and added garlic and it was much better. But unfortunately we most likely won t be back.
Well done! Large group of 13. Very professional and took care of us. Would recommend for groups or a small gathering. Food was great. Service was incredible.
Good meal good service..
Great restaurant. My only complaint has do with dinning philosophy. TAKE YOUR G.D. HAT OFF. At this price point I expect people do dress properly. The missing link was seated next to my table ...ball cap brown hoodie and carhartt coat. For the record Im in construction and live in carhartts.... But I change after work. Im still getting used to kelowna casual but come on..... So Mike please double your prices post a dress code at the door and have the balls to turn people away.....even strip clubs have dress codes.
Best authentic Italian food in the Okanagan! Ordered the Gnocchi and the Veal Piccata, and both were equally delicious.
TLDR: Overpriced, good service when it is there, badly executed food, expensive wine list, avoid avoid avoid. Dinner for two on October 30th. Server and Sommelier were very friendly, though service was quite slow as the restaurant was full, and they seemed short staffed. Not faulting them for the service, as when the service staff came by, they were polite, professional and friendly (service was the reason this was a two star experience instead of one). Wine list is quite pricey, decided to splurge as it was a special occasion for a Barolo that was quite good, but not worth the price tag (should have been priced more toward the $120 than the actual price, $190). The main issue was the food, which varied between bad and okay. The food on the menu was generally simpler dishes, that rely on quality ingredients to be good, however the ingredient quality was sub-par. Appetizer choices were the Caprese Salad ($26) and Antipasto plate ($28). This was a COMPLETE rip-off at that price. Caprese had four little pieces of mozzarella and five tomato slices, did not taste like much and for the price, a much finer quality was expected. Antipasto consisted of seven small slices of salami/charcuterie, four slivers of cheese and some condiments. All due respect, this plate priced at $16 would have been acceptable, but for $28, both the quality and quantity of food should have been far greater. Charcuterie tasted like it was commercial grade. AVOID AVOID both appetizers. Main dishes were the lasagna and cavatelli pasta with duck Ragu. Starting with the lasagna, it was quite honestly just really bad. It came presented like a gigantic brick, with many layers of pasta but barely any cheese or filling. To boot, the pasta was far overcooked, and when eaten, was incredibly mushy and tasted bland, veering on gross. The tomato sauce was far too sweet, and did not complement the dish well. The cavatelli was fine, but barely any meat in the sauce (when a sauce is called a ragu, one expects a decent amount of meat). Taste was ok but for the price of $26, I would expect more. Bottom line: we left with a dinner price tag of over $400 for two people, having not ordered excessively. Overpriced wine, bad food and spotty service, I feel like you can do much better in Kelowna than this place.
Elegant, warm, and comfortable. The service was impeccable and the wine selection was awesome. The food was also fantastic with some of the best pre-dinner bread rolls Ive ever had. Will definitely visit again.
A most excellent experience! It was my first time there & certainly will not be the last!
Dervide was great, Deco was spacious and clean, wine reco was good, lamb was like mutton.
6 pieces of deli meat and 4 pieces of cheese for 28 bucks.
Continues to be outstanding! Service, food and wine selection are amazing! So impressed with how Coccaro group have, with innovation, served their client through these difficult times. Well done and thanks!!
Polite and professional staff The food was expensive. The taste was really good but not a wow. I expected more items in the menu (they don t have Italian pizza) Generally, I enjoyed my experience.
Very nice food, atmosphere. Great service
Amazing all around, staff, food, atmosphere, pricing, just a wonderful place to go for a night out
Wanted Italian. Great reviews and close. Very nice place with friendly attentive staff. Felt welcome and appreciated. 3 in our party. Cocktails were on point. Carpaccio and baked scallops to start. Both were very tasty. Had the penne, fettuccine and pesto spaghetti. Really happy with all entrees. Portions were plentiful and flavor was great. Very much enjoyed ourselves and will be back soon. Pricing is very reasonable. Cheers.
Great food and service
Wow!! I had a pesto pasta that was so good; I couldn t imagine having another pasta dinner as unique and delicious. The service was better than 5 stars; professional, tailored to the table and thoughtful. Would recommend a trip out of the way to enjoy a meal here in a heartbeat.
One of the best Italian restaurants Ive ever been to. Service is outstanding.
The food was bland with no true Italian flavor. The service was awful. I did not like a pasta not one server came to check on me by the time the server came around I just wanted to leave and not waste anymore of my business I ended up taking it boxed up and added basic flavor too it when I got home. It was 100% better then what they served me. The antipasto platter had Deli sliced bologna and meats that look like if they got from the IGA. For almost 20 dollars very unimpressive will never recommend or return to the resturant due to lack of service and poor quality food that was priced to high for what you get.
Absolutely fabulous
Delicious food, good wine, great company.
THIS, is an AMAZING restaurant. From the time we entered to the time we left. Our experience was, did I say AMAZING! . Our waiter was very knowledgeable and professional. We requested for them to swap out the Buffala in the Buffala Caprese for the Buratta instead and they were happy to oblige. It was divine. Then for our second course, we had the classic Linguini Vongole. Psst! The portion is huge in Kelowna. Great for sharing. We really wanted to order more food but both my husband and I are small eaters. No chance to try the Entrés. But, we will likely comeback for more the next time we are in town. Instead of ordering another dish we opted to have their dessert . Their house made Spumoni Gelati consisted of pistachio, vanilla and chocolate (again, very generous with their portion, three giagantic balls of the best gelato your money could buy). The long and short of it is, they have great service, food and desserts what more can one ask for. Needless to say, I would 100% recommend La Bussola to everyone that visit Kelowna. Forget about all other Italian joint. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. Well done!
Good food and friendly staff
Lighting too bright. Good food. Small portions. Might go back. Not sure.
Nice restaraunt. Good food. Very, very slow service. Aside from the restaraunt itself, the city of Kelowna has a bad vagrancy and sketchy downtown area. We parked behind the restaraunt and were approached for money by a couple of very sketchy people. Kelowna used to be a cool and safe town. Sad.
We requested for them to swap out the Buffala in the Buffala Caprese for the Buratta instead and they were happy to oblige. It was divine. Then for our second course, we had the classic Linguini Vongole. Psst! The portion is huge in Kelowna. Great for sharing. With great friends so a good restaurant with great food is even better.
Lovely place!!
Fine Dining.
The BEST Alfredo I have ever had. No idea why it isnt on the menu. 10/10 definitely coming again.
Great food, good service. Espresso macine wasnt working and no backup is a big miss at the end of a pretty pricey meal.
Gosh, what can I say...? One of the most disappointing dining experiences weve had in many years of international travel. Whilst the restaurant is not shy about their prices, they are seriously lacking in sommelier knowledge, basic hospitality and customer awareness. If you want repeat custom; do not treat intelligent and experienced customers this way....very poor indeed.
An excellent choice for fine Italian cuisine.
Best, most delicious and most lovingly prepared food Ive ever had. <3 <3 <3
Absolutely wonderful atmosphere, food and wine list. Oddly, no Caesar salad or calamari. The menu is limited but good. We had lasagne, penne al amatriciana(the daily special) and spaghetti alio olio. All meals were eaten entirely, feeling full but not super stuffed. Salads were also good.
Service and food was outstanding.
Was there for 2 hours and all they managed to bring during that time only because we had to follow up on the order was the appetizers (a few salads and soups) we had to walk out before we got our dinner because it wouldn t come, we talked to the manager and he could care less. bad costumer service, menu lacks items that you d expect at an Italian restaurant and the food we managed to eat was average. Prices are super high even for being in a touristic city. We paid for what we hanot recommended at all!
I have to say that s the worst food I ve ever had !!! Totally disaster!! The oysters are rancid and stale, the Salad is bitter salty, and the veal scallopini is extremely sour! These food we spent more than one hour to wait! I can t believe how can they get the stars! I would rate it zero if I can! Don t go there if you don t want to waste your money
Had dinner here with my wife on Tuesday night and everything was great! Unfortunately the back room had an emergency that kept setting the alarm off but it didn t matter cause the food and service was so good. After we finished our main course, our server offered a free desert to make up for the alarm bells ringing off. We were just too stuffed so we passed. The server then unexpectedly removed the drinks from our bill when she returned. It was a very nice gesture and very much appreciated. We will definitely return when we re back in Kelowna again
Consistently top notch .
Amazing food, great wine and our server, Christian, was excellent! Cant wait for an excuse to come back!
Very good, nice service and tasty food!
Best ever authentic Italian cuisine. Enjoyed the romantic ambience. Superb service and will definitely go back!
Excellent food, excellent service.
Fantastic small Italian restaurant. Food and service were absolutely amazing. The space is very warm and welcoming, although a bit tight. Delicious food thats well paired with wine (I believe there is a sommelier present most nights). Would highly recommend anything on the menu!
Nice old school Italian. Solid menu and food at reasonable price s for the service and quality. Had a nice relaxed and satisfying dining experience without pretence or breaking the bank.
We reserved a spot for 10 on a Thursday night for work and it turned out to be a perfect spot to bring out of town guests. The service was spot on. The food prices werent crazy.
The lasagna was okay.
Nothing but excellent service and exquisite dining experience! Top notch
We had a great traditional Italian meal during a romantic get away here. Loved it!
Italian authenticity is what makes this family owned restaurant spectacular. Always on cue and always perfect. Thank you La Bussola for keeping the flame burning all these years
As always, amazing service, ridiculously good food and great vino
