Quaint, comfy eatery serving housemade pasta, pizza & classic Italian mains such as veal piccata.
Honestly, i hate giving bad reviews, but... always wanted to try Mama Rosa. Last night we ordered spaghetti for take out. Was really excited to try it because I'd heard good things. The restaurant itself is fairly plain, but that's fine. Often these smaller Italian restaurants can be like that. Service was good and the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was prepared on time. With that said, we got home to find the meal was far less than impressive. Pasta was super dry as was the bolognaise sauce. Almost pasty. Very little flavour. The garlic toast was also flavourless and seemed almost stale. We LOVE spaghetti but didn't finish either of ours. Very disappointed. So sorry to leave a less than ideal review, but truly had expected more from a place that has such a good reputation.
Mamma Rosa was recommended to us at one of our wine tasting stops. I had the lasagna while my partner had spinach and cheese cannelloni. Both were exceptionally tasty with very generous portions. The service was very much appreciated as well. If you're in the area, I highly recommend!
I was so excited to see a vegetarian lasagna on the menu and it was delicious. My sister ordered the chicken Alfredo and she said the chicken is not fully cooked and has a bad smell they said sorry we can take it to the back and take the chicken off. They didn’t even remake it or remove it from the bill which was very disappointing. I gave them 3 for the vegetarian lasagna which was very delicious but my sister pasta and the service was really bad. I think a business should provide a good service if they are charging 35$ for a lasagna. Anyway as much as so loved my food not sure if I go back because of the service.
Charming restaurant in downtown Kelowna with really authentic tasting food..the portions are huge although pricey..$35 for veal parmesan but it was a massive portion and very homemade tasting. I had the chicken ravioli and it was very creamy and delicious. Even the complimentary garlic bread was warm and crispy and toasted. Staff were great and we got a table easily on a Saturday night and service was quick. We will definitely be back.
By far one of the best Italian food I have had in Kelowna... and I come from lower Mainland. Food was top notch and so was the service. Will definitely go back and recommend this place. Hidden jewel
My boyfriend and I went to Mamma Rosa for our last dinner in Kelowna. The place is recommended by our nice tourist guide Dave who spoke highly of the place. The atmosphere is truly lovely. It is filled with paintings and colours that represents the beauty of culture of Italy. The food was superb! It takes about 20-30 mins before the food arrives but you can tell that everything is made from scratch, even the sauces they use. This nice young lady came up to our table to show what all their desserts look like. We ended up getting the cheesecake which tastes soo good! Highly recommend.😊
I was looking forward to a good home cooked Italian dinner and was recommended to come here. The waitress was great, but the overall experience was not. The food was very bland tasting. We had the Lasagna Bolognese and Meat Cannelloni and were not impressed. The plates were baked, which is fine, but the cheese and oil were burnt around the edges. The lack of meat in their "meat sauce" was disappointing. The dinner was also fairly expensive for the lack of flavour.
Very positive dining experience. Delicious Italian food in a traditional themed restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions are huge! Location is very busy but worth the wait. On our visit, the servers were a bit overrun. We will definitely come back as the food is excellent.
This restaurant is not great. Prompt and friendly service however the food was subpar. Would not go again.
Italian home flavors restaurants. Good service and retro vibes interior made me feel cozy..
Have come many many times . Each time I am rather rushed to eat pay and get out or like tonight just want a glass of red wine while I wait for my to go order no all tables are booked . Half the restaurant was empty no one other customers coming till starting at 6 pm . And you can t pour me a glass of wine to sit and wait for my food ?!!! So I sit outside and wait for my food . The most unfriendly staff. And you cannot tell me that you scheduled 1/2 of your restaurant to fill up all at once with minimal staff
Omg so good!!
Great atmosphere. Closest to home cooked meal as you can get. Great value for the dollar.
Dont review often. Mid at the very best. Not a big eater, Portions were tiny ( 14-16 pieces of penne ) with 37$ veal parmigiana... 30$ lobster cannelloni had one shrimp. Before food was finished servers were aggressively trying to clear plates. Was a very unpleasant dining experience. Would not return.
The best authentic Italian food in the Okanagan.
As good as the first time I went 15 years ago. Big portions, tastes great and the family feel you get for the staff well have us back soon! Kid-friendliness: What kid doesn t like slurping some spaghetti
My wife and I went for dinner at Mama Rosa s. The service from the moment we arrived was friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our food was phenomenal! The portions are very generous. My wife had the stuffed spinach shells. I had the lasagne with spinach and ricotta cheese. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, served piping hot right out of the kitchen. We could not eat it all. We hope to return soon.
Food was over priced. The salad was very small and not tasty. Too many people working there. Service was ok. Food tasted very basic for the price.
Had a great dinner. The carbonara was amazing. One of the few places that actually have authentic fresh pasta.
The food was rather mediocre but charged at fine-dining prices. My $14 Caesar salad came on a very small plate and maybe was worth $5 instead. For 2 glasses of wine, 2 small appetizers, and 2 entrees, the bill was $160. My advice is go to the Old Spaghetti Factor instead, where you can get the same food for half the price.
Made a reservation for Father s Day and when we arrived they did not have the reservation written on their paper book. Super disappointing and as a regular here will never return because of this
Not a huge restaurant which means you get attentive service and quality food. It really felt like we were sitting in a little Italian restaurant run by a Mama tasting every dish and overlooking her kitchen with pride. The classic bruschetta was the best ever! We also devoured the veal stuffed cannelloni, the veal parmigiana, and the Caesar salad. All while sipping a delightful house red. The tiramisu was definitely the crowning glory, but the chocolate explosion gave it a run for its money. We were sated and happy and vowed we d come back next time we re in Kelowna. Definitely ranks as top billing on our list!
Was very disappointed that 20% gratuity was added automatically when there was 5 of us that needed separate bills. Tips should be our choice. First time ever this has happened. Hope you rethink your stand.
I had the spaghetti in salsa capriccio with homemade sausage. The noodles were not particularly noteworthy. The sauce was fine. The sausage tasted slightly over cooked and had no notable spice or flavor other than grease. The menu lists the dish as spicy, but I didnt detect even the faintest hint of capsaicin. Despite all of the negatives I have listed, they diminished in severity the longer I ate. The amount of food I was served was proportional to the price. The servers were a delight. Polite, efficient, and attentive. The atmosphere reminds me of a childhood favorite eatery; cozy, simple, and quiet. It was nice, but it could easily get cramped if you happen to be seated next to others as my party did. All in all, it was okay. Perhaps my meal just wasnt for me. If I return, I will order something other than spaghetti.
Really good Italian food, attentive service.
4.5 stars, actually. Its been a couple of years since we were here last, and theres been an upgrade(?). Gone are the cloth napkins and red/white checked table clothes. Nice clothes traded in for T-shirts and paper napkins wrapped around the cutlery. Maybe fresh paint as well. BUT restaurants are about food and the food is still INCREDIBLE!!! Its hard to stay true to yourself, but its harder to stay true to a menu with varying food costs, and Mamma Rosas has certainly kept true to themselves. There are small reasons for missing the half star. Didnt like the paper napkins (feels cheap). T-shirts ( are you old spaghetti factory?yuck). The main reason is that we were a party of 6, and 2 of us arrived early and were ignored until we stopped a server and asked to order drinks. Ask if we want anything before ignoring us. Please. Vegetarian options: One person in our party was vegetarian and she liked her meal. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free people were quite happy as well. As was I with my carrot/celery allergy and the attention that was paid to it.
My husband and I booked Mamma Rosas for Valentines. The menu was shortened so the very dish I was looking forward to was not on the menu. What really was upsetting was them exerting authority to charge me a 20% tip in order to make a reservation. This is absolutely wrong. Tips are at My discretion, not yours whether the service is good Or poor. You asked for my agreement to tip 20% tip before I was even served and used it as a condition to making a reservation. This happened a long time ago now and as you can tell I am still upset. This is a poor business approach. Kindly rethink this decision.
Food and atmosphere is good, expensive though. Split one meal.
Ordered takeout after craving a creamy pasta. Bene here before twice and enjoyed both times, this time was different. Tastes extremely cheap. Chicken is like those pre packaged slices you can buy at the grocery store. Pesto had no flavour and my gnocchi tasted like mush. My son had shrimp penne but the shrimp didn t seem good quality and were fishy smelling. Skor cheesecake was yummy but I won t be ordering from here again. Disappointed for a $130+ order
Super quaint little place. Delicious food. Great service.
I ordered food from here on Valentines Day for me, myself, and I and it s soooo good. I melted. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. Definitely my new favourite spot since I live on pasta.
Disgustingly good and authentic Italian food. Drove all the way from Calgary for it
It was worth the trip and didnt break the bank for a family of 4.
Excellent!!! If you visit Kelowna, you cant miss dining here
We had a great experience here. Delicious food and good service
The very best Italian dishes, bar none, in the Okanagan! Carbonara-10, Spaghetti and Italian sausage, fabulous, itès all good...garlic toast, not my favourtie but it is fine.
Great, delicious food
Ordered 3 cheese pasta delivery at my work. I ordered right when they opened at 445pm and I didnt get my meal until 630.... and on top of that the person who delivered it was very rude to me and others who worked with me at that time. I was taking my card and I thought he was going to give me the machine. But nope he just tapped my card and then he just walked out fast without saying anything. I am not happy about this. Ive been to this restaurant before and I am not happy with this service. Making me not want to come back to this place
my favorite Italian restaurant in Kelowna, consistently never disappoints! and good food portions.
Wanted to love it. Lobster caneloni was fishy tasting..disappointing. Caesar salad was ok but under dressed. Lasagna was decent. Over priced for the quality and portions Food : 3/5
This place is so good I ate the food too fast to get a picture. Perfect for pasta lovers
Hands down the best Italian restaurant Ive ever been to! Consistently delicious!
Great time at Mamma Rosas. Good food, huge portions and great service!
Great food real Italian say my husband and our friends who are Italian. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Stopped by 2 years ago and made an effort to return this time. So glad we did. Will definitely go back next time we are in the area
Would have rated higher as the food was good but overpriced for sure! Also unfortunately our experience with the staff was not the best. The lady was quite rude. Kept cutting my husband off when he was trying to speak and ruined our first ever experience here.
Everything great about this place has been written. Great service and attentive, and the surprise birthday cake, it really made my daughters day
Authentic Italian cuisine handmade fresh everyday and the portions are amazing! Highly recommend.
I asked for a little old Italian restaurant and this place delivered. Fantastic food, authentic atmosphere and friendly service. Perfect for a romantic evening
Really enjoyed Mamma Rosas! Fantastic pastas, great service! Truly the best in Kelowna! Kid-friendliness: No children oriented, leave them at home and enjoy the night!
Mamma Rosas is hands down the best Italian in Kelowna. They are a super cute and cozy restaurant with very kind staff. I visit at least once a month, and am never disappointed! The portions are large, sauce-heavy, which I personally love, and have that authentic homemade Italian noodle that is hard to find in other restaurants in the area. My personal favourite go-to dish there is the Fettuccini Alfredo. I crave it daily!
Homemade pasta ad always leaving with leftovers = win!!
Food was very good, huge portions. Service was good, but a little over-attentive - there were plenty of staff on the floor and we were asked multiple times how we were doing. Not terrible, but it interrupted the flow of our meal to be asked so many times.
Great food. Big portions. Score cheesecake awesome
We are locals, this was not our first visit by a long shot. We sat at 5:45 on a Thursday and were told they had next reso at 7:30. No problem. As soon as we sat down we got the vibe that, We ve got tables to turn so let s get on with it. Whilst you enjoy your appy, we will put your mains on the table in front of you as well even tho there was no room for the plates on our tiny table. We weren t even done eating dinner (around 6:30) and she came around asking if we needed boxes, meanwhile I would have loved another glass of wine. We have very few authentic Italian options Downtown Kelowna and the atmosphere and service is a 180 between them. Our other favourite option is a slow placed, served by the Italian owner, comfortable environment with Italian music playing (it was pop tunes at Mama s) and attention during the service with a no rush , order as you go, feeling. I get you need to turn tables to make a profit but we had so much time between seatings it was not just. Not sure with all the rushing around tonight we will be rushing back to Mama Rosa s. This has been a family favourite for 25+ years.
HOW THE HELL DOES AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT RUN OUT OF DOUGH.
I used to go here years ago when the dad was running it. He died the son took over. His prices are outrageous. We went one time crab was old. Then another time the used fake crab. I am very disappointed in the way he has done this. Pasta is cheap. Pizza are too expensive. His pasta is way too expensive to eat here. Everything is.
The real deal for homemade Italian food
Big menu, lots to choose from thats for sure. The menu was over priced for pasta. But then you have to remember this place is located downtown and rent aint cheap.
We were visiting Kelowna for the weekend and after a wonderful day at Myra Canyon Trail, we decided to visit downtown. We were looking for a place to eat and after passing the regular suspects like OSF, BSH, CC, etc (guess the names), we passed alongside Mamma Rosa. We were not sure if that was the place but after driving around, we ended coming back and eating here. No regrets! It was fantastic! Food is delicious. The atmosphere is very fitting and service was pretty good. It is a bit pricey but after actually eating, we unanimously agreed that it was worth it! We ordered: - Capresse Salad (D E L I C I O U S ! ! ! ) - Foccacia H (Amazing mix of flavours) - Lobster Cannelloni (Fabulous!) - Key lime pie and Tiramisu to share (To die for!) Just one little flaw: Bill came with a 7.5% tax with no explanation or heads up. I do not like hidden charges and therefore, I adjusted the tip accordingly. Unfortunate because service was great. All in all though, it was not enough to alter my review. I still highly recommend it.
Went here after stopping in Kelowna. Service and atmosphere were quite good. You can tell this is a quaint family business. The food was on the quite expensive side we found. Even pasta dishes with no meat were almost $30. We got one with shrimp and scallops and were almost paying $40 a entree. At this price the food needs to be quite outstanding for these prices. While it was good it felt more like a $25 dish at another restaurant. I would only recommend if you dont mind the overpay and are craving Italian.
We waited for one lasagne dish for 30 minutes, when we arrived they said 5 more minutes, and then continued to wait an extra 5 minutes again, and then an extra 3 minutes until we finally got out dish. And let me tell you it was not worth the 30$ whatsoever. If they are gonna charge that much money for a bowl of lasagna then at least have it be worth the price. Do not recommend the lasagna. If you wanna taste the cheap lasagna from superstore it s way worth it, Because it at least has the great flavour you re looking for than this.
Very good Italian. The young ladies serving were very attentive.
We were hoping to come in today for dinner as we had made reservations early in the week. Due to the fires in West Kelowna we considered cancelling, but wanted to support restaurant and feel grateful to be safe and having dinner with family as a short reprise from the horrible events happening across the lake. We were shocked when we arrived and an employee greeted us with an off putting joke of surprised you are here when everyone else s home s are on fire . We were stunned. Firstly to make light of a devastating situation that was ongoing, and second to say something that would clearly make anyone uncomfortable. The comment was so shocking and off putting, that we not only left, but our entire night was marred by the experience. We are locals who frequent the restaurant often and love supporting the family, but this experience was frankly shocking. Please take the time to educate your staff on not only being kind and respectful to patrons, but also not making light of horrible situations, particularly when it is ongoing and they have no idea what any patron could be going through.
Not very good Italian food, has heard good reviews but it was very very bland and the garlic bread was hard as a rock. Service and atmosphere was okay, wouldn t go again unfortunately
I know when we go here that I will be happy with whatever I choose. Theres a lot of decisions on the menu, so it is a hard choice! Service is always good. High quality food!
Really enjoyed the pasta
Went for the first time tonight and was impressed! Was craving real, filling Italian pasta and was not disappointed. All 3 of us were satisfied with our meals and the service was friendly and attentive. Portions are huge. You won t leave hungry. Provided a birthday dessert for my birthday, and offered a great selection of homemade desserts. Will be going back!
Great food and Service
I ve eaten here many times. The food is very good, but I ve noticed, especially tonight, that the servers are not very pleasant. I felt as if there was hardly time to take my order or to serve me. There were no/few smiles. The staff rushed around looking angry and stressed. An unpleasant atmosphere in which it is hard to feel welcome - definitely affects one s enjoyment of the food!
Consistent quality and taste each time we go. Its not the best but it is yummy. Our servers were super sweet.
Really nice pasta. Great variety to choose from. The pesto sauce was delicious!!!
I regret ever coming here. Given the steep prices and mostly high reviews of this place, I expected good Italian food from this restaurant; and I was very disappointed. First of all, dont call me out for the terribly cropped photo Im posting... We took cute photos of ourselves and the food, and for this review I did not want our faces in here. The ambiance was pretty cozy and the server was mostly nice. We were recommended the carbonara, so we ordered that. We also ordered this creamy lobster pasta dish. The carbonara did not taste like carbonara. Let me clarify what carbonara is supposed to be, especially in a restaurant that claims to be authentically Italian: eggs and cheeses and black pepper and pork fat properly mixed together and served as a sauce to pasta, topped with the pan-fried pork. Many details missing, but thats the basic idea. This restaurant didnt have the proper taste of carbonara and didnt even have black pepper in their pasta. I was both confused and frustrated, because I had to pay $27 for something that just tasted like store-bought cream mixed into pasta, topped with bacon. For the creamy lobster pasta dish (I believe it was $32), it was not very good given the fact that the creamy cheese flavour was overwhelming any lobster flavour. We told the server about it and asked, open-endedly, if there was anything we could do about this dish that we werent satisfied with (we wanted to be given options). We wanted to focus on returning this particular dish because it was quite expensive. Another server returned saying we could order another dish but wed still have to pay for that other lobster pasta that they left in the kitchen because it was half eaten. We only had three spoonfuls. What an abomination. After an extremely infuriating discussion with this server, she allowed us a refund on the lobster pasta. Then to try to salvage our dinner, we ordered the anchovy pasta. It was okay. Basic seafood flavour. Overall, okay ambience, questionable service, not the best food at all. Id recommend that they review their own food and service. I tried my best to look for the good in this experience, but I unfortunately regret the time and money I spent in this restaurant. I am sure whoever runs this restaurant is a decent person, but I have to say I disliked my experience here so much. I hope my comments are taken into consideration to improve the restaurant.
The tuna appetizer was like terrible lunch meat. I actually couldn t believe this was a dish
Very satisfied with this restaurant! Food was super delicious. Service was excellent and we got our food in a timely manner. Prices for the quantity you receive is excellent. So Good!!!
The food was delicious! The garlic bread wasn t very garlicky, but the carbonara and lasagna was to die for !!
Loved the lobster cannelloni
Came here last week for my grandma s birthday and the food was amazing I had the fettuccine al pesto it was very good even just dreamed about it the other night very very tasty
Good service but the food was just ok. Certainly did not reflect the steep prices.
Authentic! The alfredo is so creamy!!!
The cannelloni was wonderful, I was very disappointed when I got my bill and saw that I was charged $6.50 for a virgin caesar, it actually cost more than my partners drink which was a rum and at the very least they could have put it in a larger glass, it was a highball glass, 4 oz of clamato juice and a bunch of ice. Greedy just greedy
Mamma Rosas meals are tasty, with well thought out blends of flavors and ingredients and Rosas pesto sauce is unbeatable! I marvel at my experience every time I go there.
Best Italian restaurant Ive ever been to. A must visit while in Kelowna.
Here I ate one of the best lasagnas ever (yes, in Canada), Ive been there several times and Mamma Rosa has never disappointed me! I waited longer than necessary for the order on only one occasion, but as an apology they offered us dessert
Never again!!! My pasta was cold and tasted like can bolognese. The service was not that good either! I had to pay 50$ because I had 7 friends with me. No refill so I had to pay for another drink. A Italien restaurant don t know how to cook and uses Can sauce.
Great food, generous quantities, good quality, friendly staff.
Went on the way home last night from airport. Hubby wanted pasta....young girl was waitresse ....how she spoke to us was disrespectful....Im not her hun. Any how. Food was gross. Meatballs were not home made tasted like the bag stuff from Wal-Mart pizza I asked for little cheese. Oh it comes with little cheese. Nope ti much. Card board no taste . Never again
Best Italian in Kelowna!
Dinner was great! Had the Lobster Canneloni and my date had the lasagna bolognese very filling and just delicious!
Quality unpretentious food and service!!!! Well priced for serving size! Happy to return!!!!
Love this restaurant! Food is always super tasty and presentable. Love the atmosphere and the selection of food. Always come here for birthdays.
I saw a low review and went to find out for myself. had seafood on veal with a side of home-made spaghetti and bolognese sauce plus some Tiramisu for dessert. They were all large portions of freshly homemade carefully sourced ingredients but the veal just wasn t good (both the veal and the scallops fought the griddle somehow). The dessert was delicious.
Excellent! Great food with the charm of a family run business. I ll be back again!
Dissappointed in the lobster cann! was really not what I expect as this dish is usually spot on delicous in the restaurant.
Update July 9, 2022. We were back in town for the first time in 4 years and absolutely couldnt wait to go back to this restaurant. Well what a huge disappointment that turned out to be. If I had not been there and seen it myself I would never have believed this story. They now have a sign on the door that say please limit your stay to 1.5 hours. That should have been more than enough warning that the old home style, welcoming atmosphere was gone. Did not heed the clue. The pizza we ordered as an appetizer was very good, the Bison Carpatio was barely average and the Ceasar salad was poor. Party of four, we order one lasagna bolognese to split between two, one veal pescatore gluten free and one ravioli. Ravioli showed up 6 or 7 minutes before the rest, restaurant is less than a third full. When the veal showed up it turned out to be pasta pescatore, waitress claims to have misheard. Says the veal isnt gluten free in any event, despite the menu being clearly marked that it is. Lie number 1. We ask her about that, says she will check and come right back. Doesnt return so we flag her down. Says they are out of the gluten free veal, only have non gluten friendly. Lie number 2, they coat their veal in house, or at least they used to. We then ask for a large serving spoon or utensil to serve the lasagna for the two that are sharing. We are told by the girl that brings the food out that all their large spoons are dirty and they have nothing else that will do the job. Un flipping believable. We make do and it really wasnt a big deal because two bites of the lasagna was more than enough. It sucked real bad. The ravioli was edible but far from good. The piscatore pasta was about the same mediocre quality as the ravioli, but at least the seafood component was not over cooked. Everything except the pizza was flat in flavour. Tasted like a Swanson frozen dinner or it came out of a can. In an attempt to make up somewhat the waitress offered us a free dessert. She brings out a plate of dessert, supposedly home made, but the different offerings are all one one plate, individually wrapped in Saran wrap. Most unappealing collection of food you can imagine. We declined. I know it has been 4 years and that Covid happened but how the heck does a restaurant that won best Italian eatery in Kelowna for 23 years straight turn into this hovel of poor food, atrocious service and bald face lying and uncaring staff. So all in, totally wasted 220 bucks for food Chef Boyardee would be ashamed of. I would not go back here again if they paid me too. On top of that I was tremendously embarrassed in front of friends who we had raved to about this place being a must try. Morning after update So, to top it all off, the two that actually ate their entrees, the piscatore pasta and the ravioli, were both very ill overnight from the food. Despite throwing it up last night, both still have headaches and stomach issues this morning. Makes a guy strangely happy the lasagna was so bad from the get go that we passed on eating it. P.S. just read through a bunch of the recent reviews. Pretty consistently bad. Wish I had read these before we went, could have saved 220 bucks. Amazing how far this place has fallen. It has to have been sold somewhere along the way. June 2018 Five Stars, would have given more if I could. Great old style Italian food with absolutely excellent service. The veal picata was the best I have had in years. Pasta was fresh and sauces home made. The glutin free pasta was the best my companion had ever had anywhere. Well worth a visit.
I got recommendation from my colleague to visit this restaurant. The service was great and fast, wine delicious, mussels fantastic cause they were cooked in light sauce and my pasta with lobster was amazing as well. I would recommend if you like seafood and European style of restaurant. I really enjoyed it.
Expensive.
Great family restaurant, big portions, fast, friendly service, excellent Italian food.
The food is mediocre at best. If youve been to a high end Italian restaurant the difference quality is clear. The meatballs taste like the ones I get from the frozen section of Superstore. Its basically a jar of tomato sauce from superstore and some ground beef mixed together. The pasta isnt freshly made in house by any means, its the one from the grocery store that takes 10 mins to boil. The reviews are very misleading by people that haven t eaten at high end restaurants ever or had good Italian food. The portions are at least big and buratta wasnt bad.
Sorry no picture of the food! The first bite of the homemade pasta with the homemade sauce is trip to heaven. It was too late to take a picture before I realized it! ( I had Spaghetti Di Salsa Capriccio added chicken, a piece of Mamma Rosa special pizza, and a bite of Ravioli Di Pollo) Great services and super friendly waitresses with nice smiles, patiently waiting and helpful when we were indecisive! I will move in if possible
Tried the house salad, spaghetti Bolognese with sausage, and prawn pasta. All were very bland. The fresh pasta was good but everything else was lacking flavor. House salad was meager for $13 and under dressed. Sauces did not taste homemade or upscale dining level. Just over $100 for 2 of us and feel like we could have done better elsewhere.
This is my favourite restaurant and the food is absolutely delicious, unfortunately tonight we had a server that didn t seem to care. Our service was nothing more than an order taker and when our group asked for the bills, she only brought one bill. We then asked her to split the bills up so each party knew how much they owed. She replied with don t you have a calculator. With a infant in my arms and my dad who is not the best with a phone tried to figure out the bills by individuals adding items together as our server just stood watching us. She then decided to do her job and walk back to the computer and split the bills for us. Lazy service and a poor attitude. I m writing this to hold her accountable so she can do better as we would like to come back and enjoy the amazing food.
We were told to go to Mamma Rosa..food is great....that was a lie... Tasted and looked store bought. For an Italian restaurant you would think they would know how to cook noodles for spaghetti....nope.. To top the night off our waitress was ridiculously rude..fake attitude and brought the bill to 4 of us at the table all in 1...didnt ask if it was to be split up. When told the food didnt taste that well she said that cant be right..its the best plate on the menu...of course she would say that..the cook is her husband and our waitress was the owner... If you want bad service and store bought food and empty your account on the bill..by all means..go ahead. One good part of our experience..the young ladies clearing our table..getting us our drinks. Props to them for working for those owners.. Im never going back there...
I ordered your lobster cannelloni tonight and there was no lobster in the entire dish! There was a single prawn and the thick pasta was loaded in thick clumpy sauce. For $39 and no lobster you should be ashamed. That was more like a michelenas frozen dinner. I live across the street and was hoping for a local gem but was extremely disappointed. Wonder how the owners call themselves authentic..was this a one off ?
Spaghetti bolonheses was very tasty!
Delicious authentic Italian restaurant. Food is amazing and portions are massive! Wine was good too. Would recommend calling ahead as they seemed super super busy when we were there.
Right from when we walked in and saw how spotless clean it was we knew we were in for a treat. The serving staff as well as all the food was amazing. We actually ordered take out as well just to treat ourselves to another meal tonight! The house red was excellent as well for all you red wine drinkers. It s times like this we wished we lived here! Thanks for having us.
The food was good, but we were only given an hour to eat without warning us in advance that we would have to leave our place. 5 minutes before our expulsion, the waitress still had the audacity to offer us dessert
Wonderful dinner and desert!
Hostess was rude and terrible, food was mediocre, I would not go back!
Awesome home cooking. Tastes to die for and portion sizes enough for two meals. Exceptional service and attention. Highly recommend this place
While the decor is simple the food is excellent and definitely true Italian. The stuffed spinach shells were baked to perfection and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for something differently delicious. The food actually merits a 6th star!
Very expensive wont go back
5 Star service from the moment that you walk in and The Food........ Unbelievably delicious
Supposedly a great Italian restaurant. Staff great, clean restaurant, portions large, unfortunately, virtually no flavour. Spinach and cheese cannelloni and momma rosas special pizza.
Excellent customer service. Awesome Food!! Must try Lasagna. I will visit their restaurant again when I come back to Kelowna.
Delicious food. Great customer experience. Employees were extremely helpful.
Authentic QUALITY food. Never disappointed.
Excellent food. Top notch service. It was a little dark for my slowly failing eyes to read the menu. But we managed. Definitely would go back again.
I dont go out for Italian as much as I should...this place has shown me the error of my ways! Amazing portions for decent prices considering the absolute top tier quality it all is! The very best in service ambience everything. You gotta go
Probably the best meatballs and spaghetti Ive ever eaten in my life (sorry mom)
Awesome food and service!
Mamma Rosa is a wonderful place for great homemade pasta! The portions are big - we actually always intend to order dessert and never can. We have always had great service and a great experience. I always get the fettuccini with pesto cream sauce which is to die for. The bruschetta is also a fantastic starter as well. It s best to make a reservation as it gets filled up pretty quick there.
Excellent, cheerful, family Italian food. Solid pasta and pizza menu. Friendly, efficient - almost too fast - service. Red checkered tablecloths,. Chianti in straw bottles, etc. Family and local favourite!
I love the group. I have asked for simple items that we needed and other moms reach out and help. When I see a mom who needs something I have and can spare, I love to share. It takes a community and we are one!
Great pasta and service.
OMG! Sooooo good! Best pasta ever! So happy there was an open seat for a drop in!
Very good Italian food finally, very good service, nice ambiance definitely be back.
Delicious handmade Italian food!
Their pizza is terrible!! Italian restaurant doesnt know how to make a proper pizza. Never again!!! Proper pizza has the sauce, then a GOOD layer of mozzarella cheese. Then ingredients go on top of the mozzarella cheese!! I made the mistake of asking our pizza to be cooked that way. What we got was a very thin layer of mozzarella cheese, then half cooked pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Yuck! Pepperoni practically raw and veggies crunchy! Not enough cheese to hold the pepperoni and veggies. Veggies kept falling off the pizza. Overall, very disappointed! Can you imagine the uncooked pepperoni and veggies UNDERNEATH the mozzarella cheese like every pizza restaurant here seems to do? Wow!! Yucky! Their pasta is excellent but their pizza is not.
I really enjoyed this place. We had Muscles for an appetizer, ricotta and spinach lasagne, and seafood spaghetti (+ baked). We were thrilled with all dishes.
Very authentic, staff were excited to see us, very large portions (I would suggest a split item, you will see on the menu). Overall great time!
The whole enjoyed our meal. There was a mistake on the bill but it was taken care of quickly and without incident
So, so good! Great value for your money!
Authentic and delcious food. Enjoyed this treasure.
Recommendation of the Comfort Suites staff down the street where is was staying...off the beaten path..worth the drive and likewise the wait...if you are looking for something with a local speak.
One of my most favorite places in all of the Okanagan! Amazing owners, staff, and even better food. Large portions which I eat throughout the entire week and cannot seem to stop craving! 10/10 Food and service <3
The pizza was not cooked and so soggy almost unedible. Used to be the best but not anymore, call to complain and they did not care .
Good American-Italian. Definitely not an Authentic Italian like other reviews are mentioning. Portions are big. A bit too pricy for what you get.
Food was great and the portions are huge. Make sure your hungry!
Was there on Sunday, for the second time. Our first time experiencing was good. But this time we were a little late for our reservation. We even said it s okay for us to go somewhere else after she said they were closing but still asked us to come. And after that everything was rushed. We were not even done eating she brought us take out containers that we didn t even asked for. They didn t asked for second glass of wine after she even saw our first glass was empty. Food was amazing but the customer service was poor.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE. We ordered around 6:30pm on a Friday and waited about an hour for a very friendly and personable delivery girl. We ordered the Mussels, Fettuccine Alfredo, Penne Alla Susanna and the Chocolate Explosion cake. Although we did have to wait a reasonable time for delivery, our food arrived fresh, hot and absolutely delicious.
We tried two of their house special lasagnas with the spinach and pasta made in house the noodles tasted like they were previously frozen and the sauce was horrible. It was watery and bland, no flavor. For the price and how much they boast about fresh homemade cooking I was expecting a lot more. Very disappointing.
The food is incredible I ordered the stuffed Spinach shells and was very filling and worth every penny. The staff is very nice and the food came out quick as fresh!!
Whenever we go to Mama Rosa s the food is delicious beyond belief and we always have wonderful service. You really must try their Ragu special! Thank you for helping make my husbands Birthday just perfect!
Wonderful atmophere for date night! And the food... AMAZING. Cant wait to come back

Always great, always fresh, always like home
Nice atmosphere and great Italian food.
It was tough getting in around dinner time on short notice because this restaurant is so popular... for good reasons. Definitely the best Italian food in the Okanagan! I recommend the delicious steam mussels. You can resist sopping up all the amazing broth with extra fresh bread.
Perfect cozy little Italian spot in downtown Kelowna. Authentic sauces and noodles that you can tell are made with love. Carbonara is a stand out dish as are their pizzas. Wait times even with resos can be a little long but it s worth the wait!
Best caesar salad to start your meal and by far best Italian anywhere in kelowna. No joke. Ridiculously good. Been here three times and never disappointed. Do yourself a huge favour and order the veal parmigiana. Yummy
So good
Great food
I don t normally write reviews but my experience here was unbelievably bad, I felt I needed to share. $70 dining experiences (for two) in this day and age ought to impress (this is not including beverages). My concerns: -Not once was our water refilled. -Restaurant was so hot, the breeze from the 28 degree weather felt nice when customers were leaving. -Portions were small. -Meatballs tasted like the frozen variety from the supermarket. I want to support the ma and pa shops but will not be returning to this one. I entered here expecting food comparable to Anton s (Burnaby) and would have been happier making a pasta dish of my own.
manager/owner was rude on the phone
Absolutely fabulous. It is a family owned Italian restaurant in downtown Kelowna, B.C. Canada. The Mother gets up every morning to make all the kast as for their dishes from scatch. If youve never had fresh pasta...... well there are no words. When you combine that with the fact that they have a gluten free pasta and then the stuffing and sauces OMG! Their Pizza is also like everything else is AMAZING. The service is exceptional and the staff make you feel right home. I highly recommend that if you are in the area or even just passing through you should take the time and eat here. FYI make a reservation a few days ahead as it is usually packed, especially now during the pandemic. They also have take out in case you want to eat it at home in elastic waist band sweats. Lol
Excellent food!
Nice service tonight. I ordered spaghetti bologna and hubby spaghetti with shrimp and everything was delicious and I could taste the love they put in their meal prep. We called in advance to make sure we have a place in it on Friday 5pm. Servers were kind and very professional. I understand why is so popular, while we were eating many people stob by for take out.
Absolutely delicious food! The atmosphere is very relaxing as well and very friendly staff!
Ate here twice during our visit in Kelowna. Home made pasta was great. We would have tried more dishes if we had more days to spend in the area. Spaghetti pescatrice had lots of prawn shrimp and scallops but the sauce was too runny, would have been better if it was creamier. Fettuccini al pesto is delicious. Great service.
Excellent food!!! Every dish Ive tried has been fantastic!!! The waitresss are so nice and very attentive! Love love love!!
The food here was next level, and the seating was great, although there is one problem, it took 30minutes to prepare my lunch
Despite all of the very good reviews that we read, my girlfriend and I were very disappointed with our experience last Thursday. The service was good to a degree, I say that because the server was very friendly but the overall service was extremely slow from start to finish. We found for what you got both drinks and food wise it was very overpriced, we both had Sangria which did not taste like Sangria, it tasted like cheap red wine that had 3 pieces of frozen fruit in it with a dried up slice of orange that looked like it had seen a few better days. The pastas that we both had were meh, including the lasagna that I had read as being toted the best lasagna I ever had in a few reviews. Ive had better frozen lasagna out of a box.... The carbonara was boring and tasteless, it was more like a sauce made with milk and cheese not even an alfredo disguised as carbonara. I will say that the garlic bread was pretty good though... Thankfully we had a much better dinner on Friday at Joeys. I can not recommend Mamma Rosa to anyone, ever.
We ordered in a huge meal for my mums birthday and the meal was amazing. James went over an above to organize the meals we wanted and ensure we were happy with them. Thanks James and the Mamma Rosa team! Top notch food and service!
We had take out. What a great experience. For ordering to pickup everything was done to perfection. The food was as usual fantastic! Thanks to all the crew who made our family birthday great.
Great authentic pizza and pasta, delicious!
Excellent food, excellent service. I was particularly happy when they recommended the mussels. They were my favourite part of the meal! Especially dipping the bread in the sauce! Delicious!
