Been going since my daughter was little back then an employee named May used to make special chopsticks for her. Still go and it is hands down the freshest and best in town and the price cant be beat

Chopped scallop sushi had almost all cucumber, hardly any scallop. California roll had almost all avocado, hardly any crab. Rice seemed stale. Perhaps chef had an off-day because it was difficult to eat. Our take-out order did not include chopsticks or napkins so we had scramble for utensils. Disappointing food & service.

This place is so horrible that I want to nominate it to Gordan Ramseys KN. The toro nigiri was actually Albacore Tuna and the rice was twice the size of a nigiri you would expect. This proves the chef is not a sushi chef and I wonder if the chef knows how to handle raw fish in the first place. The salad dressing was store bought and the salad was just lettuce chopped up randomly. The chicken from the teriyaki tasted rancid and not fresh. And the teriyaki sauce was, again, store bought. The tempura was passable, if you dont mind the thinck as cow hide coating. The goyza tasted normal, at last, but I suspect it was because it was store bought and not made fresh in house. The yakisoba tasted like it was fried with dish water or some such thing. I could continue but you get the point by now I believe. The entire restaurant showed no sign of standard and I regreted ever stepping into it.

Sadly this place isnt the same as it was with previous Japanese owners. Saw a pile of tempura prawn sitting on counter, mustve been 75 of them, not refrigerated, why pre cook that many? Portions, quality aint what they used to be. Mediocre compared to the previous owners. Im sad.

Absolutely garbage. Old rolls. Slimey spinach. Everything tasted like it was prepared a week ago. No service. Terrible place to bring someone from out of town. So embarrassing.

Placed an order to go with specific instructions...twice to make sure as the lady at the till seemed confused and kept speaking in another language to the chef? who would not respond to her.. I got home and found out that they did not follow my order although I paid prior to receiving the order. I did not check until I was home and when I called them back the female at the till said she would give me a discount the next time I come in...there will not be a next time..it was a gong show experience on a take out order! Not recommended and very expensive compared to the prior owners...sad they can have all these fresh flowers and they dont even use the flower shop in the same building..Wow

Ordered chicken teriyaki today and the chicken tasted and smelled old and it came with barely any sauce on the chicken or rice. Could only take a few bites. Used to order sushi/teriyaki from here all the time and the teriyaki chicken was always tender and smothered in sauce. Won t be back

By far one of the best places to get sushi here in Kelowna. Not only do they have very pleasant and personal staff, but, the food is amazing, affordable, and quick! I always recommend people to try this place out.

My friend and I went to Mizu Japanese Restaurant for lunch. We wanted eat somewhere close. We ordered the Squid Karage, Rainbow Roll, Buba Roll, and Deep Fried Spicy Tuna Roll. Oh my gosh! It was soo good. The server was so nice and friendly. We will come back next time when we are in Kelowna. Plus easy parking.

Average experience. Average food and taste. Family style. Good prices/value. I saw that they use their bare hands to grab the tempura which I didnt rly like. I would have preferred they use tongs for sanitary reasons.

My favourite sushi place.

Horrible. You know when food is so bad that it actually makes you mad? That s this place. There s a lot of great sushi restaurants in the area, try somewhere else. The lady on the phone was rude. Arrived in person to pick up the food, and the service was equally as unfriendly and unpleasant in person. Took the food to the beach for dinner to find there were no chopsticks and no napkins. The gyozas had *maybe* 1 teaspoon of sauce to dip them in, the container was almost empty. We sat at the beach and had to eat with our hands and use a beach towel as a napkin. Gross. I had to eat my noodles with a paper straw from my kids McDonald s pop. My husbands pork was fatty and so gross looking he lost his appetite. I don t like leaving bad reviews but when you spend $50 on dinner for two to be this annoyed it deserves a bad review.

Smallest rolls I ve ever seen. It was $100 with tip and delivery for 4 people. We should have ordered double. One of my California rolls was the size of a quarter.

First, the waitress was air headed and clueless. Whatever I ordered she wrote down, she then forgot to bring them out BUT YET, SHE REMEMBERED TO CHARGE ME FOR THEM. Second, the foods like Bento Box, I am sorry but I CAN COOK WAY BETTER, AND TASTES YUMMIER and I dont even know how to cook. Regarding Sushi Tray, may i ask, WHERE IS SUSHI IN THE ROLLS? I HARDLY SEE ANY SUSHI BUT JUST RICE.

Wow, the sushi here is absolutely delicious, incredibly tasty, and the portions are extremely generous. As someone who has a discerning palate for sushi, I couldnt be more pleased with the top-notch quality and flavors they offer.

Having been to this gem of a place for many years it was very easy to know that the place had changed ownership. Everything was bland even the soya sauce and wasabi. As we were leaving it was confirmed at new owners took over two month ago

Love love love!! Very cute restaurant that is very Japanese style. If you sit in the booth, you take your shoes off and sit criss cross apple sauce! I loved it! They had a huge menu and the staff is wonderful. Their sushi tasted great, pork buns were good but not the best, and their ramen was great.

Waiting for friends, and tried thier food. Better than some of the resteraunts we have Trail.

Food is not good. It was not as good as before. Pork Katsu was over cooked ( almost hard as a rock to eat). Salad is not as good. Salad dressing has no taste and was very minimal salad dressing placed. The combo composed of almost 60% rice. Limited vegetable on the noodle. What happen? This restaurant was before as my fave due to food excellent taste and worth the price. I do not know if I would recommend this next time. Really not satisfied. I got take out 2 noodle box beef and pork then 1 Bento chicken teriyaki. We only consumed just about 40 - 50% of the food. Threw some of the pork Katsu due to overcooked. Household not happy of the food.

It is affordable and can be a filling meal, and the taste is good. The service in the store while waiting for the meal is also very good. The staff in the store are very friendly and make people feel very comfortable

My Family and I had dinner here tonight after years of not visiting (since we were little) and we were so happy we did. They had a wonderful selection to choose from (and very affordably priced) and we ordered all different veggie rolls, edamame, tempura, agedashi tofu, and stir fry veggie noodle dish. All were absolutely delicious along with the very fast service and friendliness, the food came fresh out of the kitchen and nice and hot! We all shared and were happy and very satisfied when we left. Lisa was very kind and overall it was a lovely lovely night out. Would definitely recommend!! :) Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie rolls, veggie bento box, tofu dishes, veggie tempura, and more were available :)

Delicious food and excellent service! We visited Mizu Japanese Restaurant during the Thanksgiving long weekend in October 2023 and were happy to dine-in and enjoyed our meal as a family of three. We ordered edamame, vegetable udon, a tempura box with beef teriyaki, a California roll and the pork katsu donburi. The portions for the vegetable udon, pork katsu donburi and the tempura box were quite generous. Every dish came out hot and well presented. The staff at the restaurant were very nice and welcoming. I was surprised to learn that the new owners had only acquired the business six months prior to our arrival because of how fast the food came to our table and how the kitchen staff worked seamlessly to create a number of take-out orders at the same time. We will return in the future. Thank you for a wonderful dinner experience! - The washroom is not wheel-chair accessible, so plan ahead. Parking: Parking outside the restaurant was easy and convenient. Kid-friendliness: The restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating to my three-year old daughter who enjoyed the vegetable udon and edamame.

This used to be my go to spot but I think they might have switched owners and the foods taken a dive. It was nice enjoying Mizu but their competitors serve better food for similar prices

I have been going to Mizu for 20+ years and it has always been the best sushi in Kelowna. It has a great casual, unassuming atmosphere but the food is always fresh and fantastic.

Not great but not grim. Tempura was greasy and had a strong oil taste. Rolls easily fell apart. It wasnt aweful. I feel that it wasnt worth looking forward to but better than gas station sushi.

Service was not good. The atmosphere was like you had interrupted their peace. The sushi rolls looked like they were made from someone who made sushi for the first time in their lives. I wish I had my phone to take photo at the time, it was almost comical. They were very sloppy looking rolls, and that is Very disappointing for a sushi restaurant, when chefs are supposed to take pride in the presentation. That s part of what sushi making is all about. Maki rolls were barely bigger then a jiffy marker, and all the rolls fell apart as soon as they were lightly dipped in soya sauce. Never going back to pay for sushi that I can make better at home. Used to love this place years ago but this experience was nothing like it use to be. Maybe I caught them on a bad day

Mizu has been our go-to place for many years for take out. We usually order a sushi box each plus another side. I have to admit its just not as good as it used to be. Portions are smaller and the the box of different sushi/sashimi was a mess.

I was disappointed with the food and environment in Mizu. It is quite small and messy inside. The food is okay for takeout or if you just want to grab something quickly for lunch. But I would not recommend if you expect authentic Japanese food for a dinner.

This place serves the lowest quality Sushi that you can expect in Kelowna. The owners are not friendly, and the service is bad. Washroom goes right inside the kitchen, and it was very very unclean. Very disappointed.

The ramen was dry - no broth, katsu style chicken was dry and a odd grey colour. Most disappointing Japanese. Don t recommend.

Great place. Very good sushi, very wallet friendly. Mango sushi is the bomb. The only thing against it Id say the size. If you want to a sit down meal, they might not have space since they only have 4 tables. But its great for take out. Good fast service, delicious food.

Amazing sushi!!! In my California roll the avocado was very ripe, and the crab wasnt fishy tasting. I regret not ordering more. I definitely will in the future! The vegatable tempura was good too. There was a bunch of broccoli and two types of squash I dont know the names of (plus normally onion but I cant eat onion so I asked for none), which was good. The beef yakisoba had a bit more like a curry taste than expected (it was like warmer?? But in a good way). If you get it, however, ask for more veggies and less noodles, as the dish was like 85% noodle. And the cabbage tasted really good with the spicing. I ordered by phone and got pick-up, and it was very quick.

Hands down the best sushi in Kelowna! Its a smaller establishment so our wait was a slightly long but I would probably wait HOURS for this cuisine. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and our food looked awesome, and tasted even better. 100% recommend and will most definitely be returning!

Tried to order from skip the dishes for the first time from this restaurant. I asked for no ginger and no Wasabi as I am allergic to ginger. Both came on my order. I ordered a Pepsi, it did not come with my order. When I called the restaurant I was told I could come in at a later date for a pop and that they dont pay close attention to the skip the dishes orders so sorry for the inconvenience with the allergy. He said I should have called ahead and told them about the allergy...but thats why I asked for no ginger in my order?... I asked for a possible extra roll of sushi to go with my pop when I am able to go in on my next day off, Tuesday next week, and had an awful conversation with the manager. Would 10/10 recommend Momo Sushi at either location over this restaurant. Better service, better food, better staff interactions. Overall a much better experience. Wont be going back to this place.

The food came out super quick and was warm. The Edamame was soooooo salty it was hard to eat and made everything else lose its taste. I cant eat fish but the fish did look fresh and really tasty. There is limited seating but take out times was super quick. The seating felt like an after thought and the bathroom is in the back kitchen area. It all felt a little weird. The rolls did look yummy and the price was good. I will try again but not order the Edamame and see what my experience is then.

Brought my sweetheart for a quick bite. The server was kind, and hospitable. It was a busy lunch rush with dine-in and take out clients. She did super well. The food was great on top of that. Fresh sashimi and the karaage was tender and crispy. We only had take out before, but Im very happy with the dine in visit. Give the server a raise! She hustles well!

By far this is the best Japanese restaurant in Kelowna, the food is absolutely delicious, the service is always fast and very friendly. You really cant go wrong with anything on the menu, Ive been coming here for almost 10 years and continue to, because its consistently great. That being said the overall decor isnt fancy. But the food and service makes up for that.

I am late in posting this review. A couple of weeks ago we tied Mizu for the first time. It was take out of course due to the COVID-19 Crises. We ordered the 53 Piece Party Tray & a Side Order of House Order Roll. Everything was absolutely fantastic, the best Sushi we have ever had. We will order again.

The service at this place is dismal, disinterested and not customer service oriented at all. Did not feel welcomed, took forever for the waitress to take our order (the restaurant was NOT busy). When our food came, she put it on the table without giving us plates to eat off of and when we asked her to bring plates, she looked like we were inconveniencing her. The food was boring, and just average tasting. The order of Teriyaki chicken had warm salad on the same plate, right next to saucy chicken and rice. All the so called salad (just shredded lettuce) had just a small drizzle of ranch dressing on very wet lettuce so there was a puddle of water at the bottom of the plate and Bento boxes. Rolls were small and mostly just rice. Wouldnt recommend this place.

I had dinner at Mizu last weekend with my family of 4. This is our first time visiting this restaurant. When we arrived, we noticed that they had more tables outside than inside for dining-in. We walked in and saw why. The inside is a bit of a mess and did not have a typical Japanese restaurant ambiance. We were asked if we preferred to eat inside or outside and when we said inside, they looked disappointed. Note that they only had two tables inside and one of them was already occupied by staff who were eating on their break. We were seated and we asked for water and they told us that we had to buy their bottled water as they wont serve tap water due to Covid 19. Yet none of their staff wore masks. Felt more of a money grab to me rather than a covid 19 issue. Despite the negative items above, their food was good for the price and the service was fine. The quality and price of the sushi is about the same you would get at a mall food court. From what I saw, they were definitely way more busy with their pickup/take out orders than dine-in ones. For these reasons i probably wont dine in there again in the future but may consider take out if I am looking for sushi on a budget.

A formerly great restaurant. My recent visit was made memorable with less than enthusiastic service, over fried squid karage, and not quite right chopped scallop rolls. Seems like the current owners are not into it.

Basically agree with everything the person below me wrote. Was very messy and they brought my food out about ten minutes before my husbands.

First time trying out Mizu, and the quality was abysmal. Some of the worst sushi I have ever tried. If you are looking for sushi in the lower mission, go to Momos instead!

Sushi heaven. Absolutely delicious spot and for a good value for money. All portion sizing as are very generous and I like how the miso soup is not extremely salty (like most others which mean it s cheap powder-based). Veggie sushi rolls were extremely tasty, would definitely go again.

Good small shop for some eats! Our group did take out, and there were quite a few others doing so as well (although they do offer eat-in). We got a party tray and an assortment of other items. Their rolls are smaller than some places Im used to in Vancouver, but it was tasty (their ebi ebi roll was a favourite). I also liked their yakisoba, both the vegetable and beef had good flavour and a hearty amount of noodles!

Good ,cheap ,no frills

The quality of Mizu has steadily declined over the last few years. They used to cut thick slices for the rainbow rolls now they cut paper thin pieces. Also they slap a ton of mayonnaise into the roll and use un-crispy old tempura. The sashimi slices are smaller and the quality is worse. Also its quite expensive so you would hope quality would be important to them. Im giving two stars just because of my previous good experiences there but my last order really inspired me to try cooking sushi at home. I dont think what I make will be any worse that what I ordered.
