Chilango Modern Mexican in Kelowna

The service is impeccable and their cocktails are masterfully crafted.

First time going. Great food and friendly service. Definitely going back.

Our server was lovely, and the atmosphere was fine. The food was just a little underwhelming. We had the enchiladas divorciados and the burrito carne queso. The burrito was about 80% arugula, rice, and beans. At this point, it should be called a bean burrito with steak. No seasoning whatsoever. Even the queso was bland. Throw some salt and jalapeño into that stuff. The enchiladas were better. They had a little heat to them. But again, a lack of substance and seasoning in the filling brought the experience down a notch. Altogether, its not a bad meal. It just needed a little more kick in the flavour department. Also, if youre going to call it a Ridiculous Burrito Carne Queso and charge $27 for it, the carne and the queso should be more than just dried out steak and flavourless goop. They should be the stars of the show.

I ve been here a few times. The chips and salsa and margaritas are good. The first time I tried the arracherra tacos they were really good but the second time they lacked seasoning. I tried the queso carne asada burrito and while it looks decadent with the queso on top, the inside of the burrito also seemed to lack seasoning and had a slightly sweet quality which wasn t my favourite. It was a bit disappointing and left something to be desired, especially considering it costs 27$. When a place has high ratings like this you kind of expect it to be absolutely delicious, and it just wasn t unfortunately. The service is prompt and friendly, but I probably won t be back for a while. When/if I do come back maybe I ll ask the servers what they recommend and try something else.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Kelowna !! They ve been here over a YEAR!!! Best find ever. I m currently posted up here by myself, working on my laptop while munching away on the most Bombbb food and sipping margaritas. I ve tried a number of items off the menu and every single thing has been a winner. The service is always fantastic and incredibly friendly. Fantastic Happy Hours with delightful drinks and all my favourite dishes on the happy hour menu. They don t use gluten in the building for anything and outsource their flour tortillas and buns. I have experienced zero digestive issues which is almost unheard of eating out. **Must try** the tacos dorados & the sticky ribs appies Huaraches are so good too omg - obsessed w the birria one. GLUTEN FREE CHURROS. Tacos and Burritos are equally bomb according to those who I ve brought here so far haha 1000/10 recommend

Had a delicious taco meal on taco Tuesday. First time there and loved it. The tacos were the best weve had in recent memory, and the service was excellent. We will definately eat there again. It was delightful!

Very friendly and personable staff and fast service even with a full house. On top of this, the Pork Belly Al Pastor tacos are one of the most delicious things Ive ever eaten, anywhere in the world!

Great spot with a menu that is well set up to find options for any dietary restrictions. I have cauliflower tacos and vegan ribs. I was pleasantly surprised with both, especially because I tend to find vegan cauliflower dishes overdone. They did a great job and I wasnt disappointed!

I m seriously obsessed with the cauliflower Baja tacos on gluten-free tortillas! The flavors are incredible perfectly seasoned cauliflower with a delicious crunch, and the GF tortillas hold everything together so well. It s not just the food that keeps us coming back, though. This is a fantastic family-run business with a welcoming atmosphere. The owners are wonderful, and their staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience every time. We always leave happy and can t wait for our next visit!

Came here Saturday night on Labor Day weekend and it was dead. They were getting ready to close shop about an hour before close and didnt seem too welcoming to us but in we went anyway. Service was friendly enough while ordering though. Drinks were okay, food was disappointing. None of what any of us (4 people total) ordered had much flavour or seasoning. Dousing it all in hot sauce was the answer. I wouldnt recommend this place, youd get nicer tacos from a bar.

First of all, this spot is beautiful and you can tell its well cared for. Second, I think they might make the best tacos Ive ever had!

Came in with my hubby for a taco night, absolutely had a blast. I had a raspberry margarita and the cauliflower baja tacos.. so delicious. Our server Ashlyn was so kind and even found my Husband his new favorite meal. Highly recommend the chicken enchiladas!!

Good service. Food was good had the chicken tacos, I ve had better, chicken was a bit dry and they stack all 4 on top of each other so not the whole tortilla has toppings. Drink was ok, margarita was really sour but server gave me simple syrup and a spoon to dial it in. Pricing is fair and better than cantina del centro. I would go back.

Beautiful family place although they also sell delicious drinks, highly recommended if you live in Kelowna or plan to travel here, the prices are affordable and the food is exquisite.

Probably the best meals we have had yet during this trip to Kelowna. The care taken to prepare and serve your food is obvious especially when the chef does his round asking each table how their food is.

My friend and I s go-to Mexican place after yoga !! The food is authentic and packed with flavour! But I have to admit, we also just love to visit the AMAZING Gali (Galilea) She is a ball of sunshine and her attentiveness is exceptional. Please give her a raise pronto ! Always so happy when she greets us and she will be the reason for our next return

Wow! To start off, service was fantastic. Our server was able to answer all of our questions about the menu, AND our food and drinks came quite fast, even with it being a little on the busy side. I forget her name but she had french braids in her hair, cutest personality as well. We went for margarita Monday and it s safe to say we will be back. Enchiladas were on point, perfect amount of spice! We were so impressed with such a newer restaurant having all its ducks in a row. You guys rock!

Took my family here for my moms birthday dinner and had a lovely evening. The food was amazing with a huge variety of options, the service was wonderful and the drinks were super tasty. My grandma (with celiac) even got to try churros for the very first time and fell in love. Definitely will be coming back for more!

Sat outside on the patio. Terrific friendly service (& dog friendly). Mole was fabulous in a very tasty braised beef Huarache con Birra & delish Chili Relleno with braised pork, rice, corn, beans and a yummy salsa roja. Highly recommend. There s an extensive set of options for vegetarian and vegan dinners as well as meat eaters. Food was fresh and very good. Will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: One full page of the menu offers many vegetarian & vegan options.

Stopped by here for the first time. Weve wanted to eat here for a while now, weve been to their other location before and its great. This place does not disappoint. The food is great and the service we had today was top notch. We sat on the patio before they opened to wait, and the server came out and told us the bar was open if we wanted a drink, and when he brought our drinks out he took our order and said as soon as the kitchen opens hell put ours in. We had the the nachos and they were delicious. We will most definitely be back again.

Had my birthday lunch here and was delighted by the experience. The manager made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. Bright atmosphere in front, subdued ambiance in the back or street patio out front. We had our pick. Enjoyed the ceviche, steak tacos (amazing!) and the pork tacos. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. Wait staff was attentive but not pushy. Only minor complaint was their hottest salsa wasnt hot enough. Serrano should be FIRE! Will definitely be back.

The salsa bar was my favourite part. The bonus were the churros that they gave us since we were there to celebrate a kids birthday. The service was great. The Marg flight was tasty. Its a bit pricey for Mexican, but everything is pricey now.

Hosted by the best restauranteurs in town, Chilango and El Taquero both never disappoint! Celiac safe (!!) with so many gluten free choices, even a GF churro at Chilango, you can t go wrong. This is the place my husband and I go and order anything we feel like, without looking at the prices (very rare these days-in fact this is the only place we have ever done that ) knowing that the quality of the food and the service will be worth every penny, and that the prices are incredibly reasonable in today s world. We couldn t be bigger fans of Izzy and Marnie and their teams. Will always be where we bring friends and family - because we feel like we are introducing our visiting loved ones to some of our Kelowna family. Oh, and if you don t like margaritas you must not have tried them here ;) Vegetarian options: So many veggies - the cauliflower dish was to die for. Dietary restrictions: Celiac safe!

Very welcoming staff as soon as we walked in the door. Beautiful and airy space. Well decorated and thoughtfully decorated. The first server took several minutes to explain the menu. Food came out fast and was delicious. I wish we found this place sooner.

This place is a great new addition to Downtown Kelowna! You know it s good when it s the owners from El Taquero in town who own and operate. It s a fun big space as well!

We sat and our server gave us the rundown of the menu. He left with our drink orders and another server came over to greet us and get drink orders.. we told him we were taken care of already. So he said whoops Enjoy and walked away. Then another server came over to greet us and take our drink order? We ordered the hot queso dip which was the only good thing about this experience. It was delicious. The complimentary guacamole was smooth and tasted like it came from a bag. I also found a rubber band in the salsa I told the food runner and she was shocked when we paid I told my server and he said oh ya I heard about that no apologies or didn t offer any discount. I ordered the pork belly tacos and they were so smothered in bbq sauce it was practically inedible. I placed my taco on a napkin after scraping the sauce off to absorb the sauce. It was so disgusting. Extremely disappointing as my gf had just been and raved about this place.

Big fan of El Taquero so decided to check this place out. I was blown away by how good the food was, the service and the vibe! They had lots of vegetarian and meat options and they did not disappoint! Food was amazing and highly recommend this place!

The family took me to the Fathers Day buffet. Food is absolutely delicious. Hard to find fresh quality food like Marney and Izzy continue to put out. I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Chilango. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly special. They ushered us to the best table in the house, which already set the tone for a memorable lunch experience. The menu was an impressive fusion of traditional and modern Mexican dishes, each plated beautifully and bursting with flavor. Before we could even decide on our main courses, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary appetizer delicious Queso, which was the perfect start to our meal. The highlight of the experience was how they acknowledged our friends birthday, which coincidentally fell on Cinco de Mayo. It was thoughtful touches like this that really made our dining experience exceptional. Chilango truly went above and beyond in every aspect, from service to food to atmosphere. If youre looking for an elevated Mexican dining experience where every detail is cared for, this is the place to go. Sombreros off to the team for such outstanding service! Omg!!! This place is so great! We went for Mother s Day and they had a buffet that blew our mind, all Mexican flavors but improved, the hibiscus water was other level, cucumber water was almost as good as my mom s and the salsas, oooh my the salsaaas!! 10/10. I didn t take more photos cause I ate it all very fast Vegetarian options: They have several vegan and vegetarian options.

If youve not been to Chilango Modern Mexican on Bernard yet... you are missing something good! Just go! Went for lunch today, flavours are amazing. Wouldnt expect any less as it is a sister company to El Taquero. I had the most delicious Torta Campesina & Mike has the Baja Pescado Tacos. Both yummy! Note, the online menu does not show my torta....ask for it. Oh and the Jamaica (pronounced Ha-Mike-Ah) a little sweet, tasty non-alcohol drink...its my favourite Mx drink with a meal if Im not drinking, although I bet a shot of tequila in it would be good too. Oh, and they use the TOST app, was surprised the server did not know the cheque came with a QR code you can scan and pay, no need to use the handheld machine....look the stock up. The app is exploding in use in the USA, just now making it to Canada. I love using it. Vegetarian options: Many vegan or strictly vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Daytime, sure, why not? Wheelchair accessibility: All one level, no stairs throughout

It was my first time here and I was so impressed. First of all the space is beautiful, we were welcomed and seated immediately and the service was the amazing, super friendly and helpful staff. The food was incredible, so fresh tasting and delicious. We just stopped in for a quick snack and dessert and now I can t wait to go back to try more of the food and drink menu!

Ive been to Chilango three times now. I love the decor, and atmosphere they have created there. Most of all I love the service and the menu options. I am gluten free and there are so many things I can choose from on their menu. They even made me gluten free churos and they were sooo good! Thanks Chilango!

Recently returned from a vacay in Mexico. We were craving Mexican food and found there was a newer restaurant called Chilango on Bernard. We decided to give it a try. Gotta say this is the most authentic Mexican with a modern twist that weve tried in Ktown. Tonight, I had the Chile Relleno and it was a culinary masterpiece of flavour, presentation, and creativity...what a beautiful dish. Very creative and well made Margaritas are Their tacos are very unique and metropolitan (Mexico City inspiration) and they are good! Servers are prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. Really like the casual vibe in this establishment. Highly recommend!

Maren was an absolutely exceptional server. It was my partner s birthday and we were greeted with free welcome drinks (non-alcoholic). We were given excellent menu recommendations and the food was very good at a reasonable price point which is hard to find nowadays. Dessert was even better than the main course and we were given a complimentary birthday shot which made the night even more memorable! Thank you so much, we will be back! Vegetarian options: They separated the vegetarian and vegan options into their own section of the menu. Very easy to navigate.

It was a great place with good food but when I called to make reservations, I mentioned there would be a child. When we arrived we were sitting around a bunch of people drinking and swearing, maybe I should have asked more information but regardless when we arrived they should have seated us away from the bar more? Great food and great service though.

Love this place! The entire menu looks amazing. Loved the El Gringo for breakfast. The flour tortillas were perfect to fill with sausage, egg, refried beans and topped with veggies/salad. Loved the smashed potatoes with a little spicy heat. Portions are very generous. Your only problem will be deciding what delicious dish to try

We had dinner and drinks at Chilango last night. I can honestly say this is one of the best experiences I have had dining out in Kelowna in the last few years. Fantastic fresh food. Delicious cocktails. Fun energetic and knowledgeable staff. I can t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Were at a birthday party here. We had the group meal. Pay a flat rate and they bring numerous dishes to the table for all to share. The food was plentiful and fresh. Best Mexican I ve had outside of Mexico. Cocktails were very good. The service was amazing and the restaurant, lovely. We ll be back and will bring friends! We started with tacos dorados my husband ordered chile relleno. I had Pollo abodo - the food was great. We were just finishing our meals, and our male server stood over us asking if we wanted anything else, as if prompting us to hurry and leave. He was holding the POS machine in hand. My husband replied that he would like to finish chewing... i want to note, we had only been there literally 29 mins, i looked at my phone, because i was so off put . The ladies that worked there were lovely, but we wont be back. Its too bad too, the food was great!

The waiter hovered over me with the p.o.s machine before I had even finished eating and its not like it was that busy and we had only been there for less than a half an hour, not impressed. Food was good portions were smal and over priced in my opinion.

The food was mediocre at best ( really disappointing since the menu made everything sound delightful ! ) . My friend and I both felt sick after . The shrimp tacos had a strong fishy taste and there were maybe 6 small shrimp for the 4 tacos. There was barely enough toppings for the tacos. The serving sizes were very small . They also made multiple mistakes with our bill ( over charging us ). They did resolve the issue but didn t apologize for the poor service . On a positive note : the prickly pear drink I had was lovely .

I don t even know where to begin with this place. Date night and we expected a decent dinner of some good tacos and such. We both left incredibly impressed. We ordered 2 appies, a Mexican flatbread item, I had a drink, tortillas and salsa, and the flan/chocolate cake. (We intended on just 3 items but everything was just good that the tab kept going). Every part of the meal was done amazingly. Food was so good, service was top tier and our servers were quick and made it an experience (and the owner himself serves and chats with guests which was a great touch), the drink was good enough to go in just for that, and the dessert was the best we ve had at a restaurant in a LONG time. Chilango s is easily the best Mexican/Latin American restaurant I have ever been to in Kelowna (and that spans almost 40 years), and our experience tonight also made me wonder if they ve raised their bar to heights reserved for white tablecloth venues (despite being a casual place). Keep it up and keep those servers! They were awesome!

My michelada, chile rellenos, and chocolate desert were all on point. I would be happy to eat here again and happy to see Kelowna is getting some diversity of its cuisine offerings.

Wow. What an amazing experience, great value, left super full but most of all intense and depth of flavours was amazing , best I ve ever had including Mexico! cocktails were super creative, Mexican twist on classics or authentic Mexican cocktails I ve never heard of and great versions of margaritas, mezcalitas, etc we tried lots of things and all were great, some like the rib appie were out of this world! Tons of unique homemade salsas, tacos, and the like, but I bet the true heart of this place are the unique authentic Mexican dishes, only issue is some are a bit hard to decipher on the menu and require a bit of a leap of faith if you don t speak Spanish which is quaint and authentic but a bit more info could help more people venture beyond the usual tacos and enchiladas and things we know. All in all, best Mexican in town and worth a visit and taking some leaps of faith! We had the best lunch at Chilango! The bamba bowl, chimi bowl and birria ramen were incredible and we couldn t get enough of the chips, guac and assorted salsas. The service was friendly and the lovely chef even came out to greet us. Thank you for a great time!

My husband and I visited Chilango for the first time today and had a great experience! Each staff member that we encountered was welcoming and friendly. We had lunch and the food was full of flavour with generous portion sizes. There is plenty of variety on the food and drink menus. We ll be back again soon!

I really enjoyed my time at Chilango. I especially love their salsa bar, which the owner came over and explained to us - it is designed to create a sense of community and spark conversation btwn guests! We also had an amazing appy with Birria and molé on it which was to die for and the salsa bar as mentioned and the fish tacos!!!! Amazing amazing amazing. Service was amazing, atmosphere awesome. Came this venue on Tuesday might with my partner had the my most beautiful dinner. The decore was amazing, service was really appointment, had two margaritas first was a classic with was delicious and the 2nd was a smokey mezcal with hibiscus also lush. Food was incredible the host really knew the food and recommend us three incredible dishes, all three was fresh and tasty the steak tacos was a highlight really succulent steak. All the servers was really friendly and added the experience. Great place to relax, have great conversations, eat and create great memories. Thank you will definitely be back!

I loved every element of it. From a Chilango myself, I enjoyed the music, excellent service, the decor of the place. Im plant-based and I was delighted by the vegan menu! The Trompito vegano, the Coliflor are so tasty . The horchata and most of the desserts are vegan and/or gluten free. A delicious mexican modern cuisine for all palads. My friend ordered the costra arrachera and said it was SO good! Vegetarian options: They have a special plant-based section on the menu and most of the desserts are vegan and/or gluten free

These were legitimately the best tacos we ve ever had. We went with the classic Marg, fish tacos and the steak tacos and everything was amazing. Steak was a must try! Food

It was my first time visiting and it wasnt busy. The staff were very helpful, quick to respond and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server recommended the ribs and I loved them! Then I had one of their flatbreads and again it was extremely tasty and so flavourful. The menu is different (good different) and very fun. If you like to explore unique flavours and try new things, this wont disappoint!

Izzy and Marnie have done it again. A completely new vibe (love the graffiti!) with a beautiful decor and incredible authentic Mexican food. Its a completely different menu from El taquero. If they recommend a particular cocktail the only answer is yes.

This fabulous place is easily among the 3 best restaurants in central Kelowna. The food is incredible and the space is so comfortable. Think fine dining Mexican dishes with a laid-back vibe. Service and cocktails are also killer (thank you, Jayden, for the exceptional service and quick wit!) and the owners are just the most welcoming and wonderful people.

Best Mexican restaurant in town by far. They offer a great variety of traditional and modern dishes for a reasonable price. The staff is always very welcoming and attentive.

I am just rating 3 for now for the fact that they havent uploaded the menu online. Why? There are people who do not like surprises. One should know about the menu offered as well as the prices. I went to the restaurant and clicked the pictures so that it can help others. This is a newly opened restaurant, not on food apps like Uber Eats etc, no website link provided for the menu on Google Maps either. I could see a ton of liquor in the store but unfortunately its not mentioned on the menu. Anyways, if I happen to try the restaurant then Ill rate it accordingly.

Highly recommend! With a large variety of menu options that differ from the beloved El Taquero menu while still holding up the same incredible food quality! My husband and I ate lunch here on a Sunday. It is a beautiful and clean restaurant with a great vibe. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I had the steak torta (see pic), which was very filling! We shared the queso to start (it was delightful see pic) and my husband had the campechano which he said was fantastic. The bars (drink and salsa) were great. I would recommend this place for a weekend lunch (or any time!) and we will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: We both ate meat, but there is a plant-based section on the menu.

Cant say enough great things about this place. It is such a refreshing experience. Not just because of the food, no, ill get to that later. Its refreshing, because as I sat there the first time to dine with my wife and 3 kids (all local, born and raised, so we have all seen alot, if not all of the restaurants here in nearly 4 decades) I felt what the owners and staff had to offer and what we ALL could start doing again....enjoy the food!enjoy the family! Enjoy being in the moment they truly thrive to give their customers and that moment is: a special time with my family, eating food that tells a story with every unique bite as all of the flavors dance in our mouths, reminding us of the memories we desperately try to cling onto in the rare moments we get to go to a place that holds a very very special place in my heart: MEXICO!!!!
