El Taquero - Tacos, Tequila & Catering in Kelowna

I ve been visiting this restaurant since it opened and it is always delicious, high quality authentic food. I ve never been disappointed and the owners are lovely people as well. They also make a killer margarita. This is my favorite place to eat in Kelowna. Don t miss this gem!

Great tasting food but small portions for the price, and had very poor service when I visited (hopefully just a bad day?).

Some of the best quality Mexican food in the Okanagan Valley. I didnt realize they have two locations in Kelowna and we ended up at the smaller Bistro style restaurant. Next time we will try the other restaurant on Bernard.

El Taquero catered for ActionEdge 90 Day Growth Club, and it was a fantastic experience! The service was top-notch professional, punctual, and incredibly friendly. The tacos were absolutely delicious, with fresh and authentic flavors that everyone loved. Our team couldn t stop raving about the food! Highly recommend El Taquero for catering any event.

Not to be dramatic but the burrito was the greatest thing I ve have ever eaten in my entire life. The first time I tried it it brought tears to my eyes because of how delicious it was. Not only is it the most delectable food I ve tried it is also so big it lasts me two meals, which I am so grateful for. There is a special place in my heart for the el taquero burrito

We had such a wonderful experience having our wedding catered by El Taquero with their DIY tacos. All of our guests very much enjoyed the food and their staff was to kind in setting everything up and explaining things for us. Our interactions with their catering manager Nayeli were always amazing and she got back to us with incredible speed and professionalism whenever we had questions. We also hit this place up whenever we have a date night and theyre always spot-on!

Last week, I went to El Taquero for Taco Tuesday, but this time I decided to switch it up! Normally, I go for 4 tacos, but I tried the Burrito Bowl instead and wow! I highly recommend it. It was delicious, and with the extra protein, I was super satisfied. The portion was perfect, and the flavor was unique exactly what you d expect from El Taquero. You wont find this kind of flavor anywhere else! As an appetizer, we had the tortilla soup, which was delicious, and also the elotes . Both were amazing and really set the tone for a perfect meal. Last week I went to El Taquero for Taco Tuesday, but this time I decided to change! I usually order 4 tacos, but I tried the Burrito Bowl and wow! I totally recommend it. It was delicious and with the addition of another protein, I was too satisfied. The portion was perfect, and the flavor unique, just what you expect from El Taquero. You cant find this flavor anywhere else in Kelowna! As a starter, we ordered the tortilla soup, which was delicious, and also the elotes . They were both amazing and really added a perfect touch to the meal.

Service was amazing, so fast, so friendly! Food was incredible, quick tasty and hot! They even gave a a small bite sized dessert sample after our meal! Drinks came out quick as well! We had a wonderful experience here tonight! They are setting the dining out bar high for other places in Kelowna

We had El Taquero cater our wedding and they did a fantastic job. The staff was very friendly, the whole process was seamless and most importantly, the food was incredible. All our guests loved the food and many said it was the best Mexican food they ve ever had. We got to have a tasting before the wedding and even that was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and of course the food was great. We highly recommend El Taquero for both catering and just grabbing a bite to eat!

Fantastic tacos the beer is okay not much of a selection but still 5 stars overall cause the tacos are so good.

Stopped by here with my husband for a quick bite. Amazing food- all 5 of the tacos (3 types or chicken and 2 beef) were all delicious with a great variety of tastes. Service was quick and friendly, and the outdoor patio was a nice touch. Definitely recommend it as a lunch or dinner spot!

5/5, affordable, delicious, great service. Simply put, the best Mexican meal that weve ever had in Canada, our server recommended a bunch of stuff and he was bang on about it all, shoutout to the Birria.

We had the El Taquero team cater our wedding recently and I can t recommend them enough. The food was fantastic and the staff were so wonderful and friendly. All of our guests said they loved the food and thought it was a great choice for a wedding dinner - and we definitely agree! I would recommend El Taquero to anyone looking for a caterer in the Okanagan

Best Quesadillas I have ever tasted in my life. The right amount of ingredients and the right amount of hot sauce. Our server, she was lovely and friendly.

This is the only place I come when I want to go for lunch downtown. The reason for that is the chef is excellent and gives me all the attention I need as per my allergies. Drinks are sensational. The staff is delightful and everyone has an attitude and attitude will make this the highlight of everybody s visit to Kelowna!

I went to El Taquero tonight (August 2nd, 2024) the server with the pink shirt had attitude towards me. She asked what I wanted and I said one moment, my girlfriend ordered her Horchata. As soon as I started trying to order an Horchata as well and asked for a pitcher she walked away and didn t let me order my drink. When she came back I tried again to order my drink and she grumbled and gave me an annoyed look. After that I realized I definitely wasn t welcome and left. This place might look nice but the server is trashy. Zero stars.

Traveling from Montana. Anywhere I go tacos and margaritas call my name. I ended up getting the burrito which I very much enjoyed. Food good, drinks good, and my server Belle was very attentive and sweet.

Love this place! I always order their churros. The dine-in space is a bit cramped and the high chairs are hard to get into for people who are shorter.

Mid. The food was okay, nothing special if you have eaten legit mexican food. Service was terrible. The waitress we had was not helpful, did not relay information about instructions or missing ingredients to and from the kitchen properly, and had the audacity to justify her responses. I believe a manager came up to ask us if everything was okay, but was low key intimidating. He said now that Im here, do you need anything or are we good? almost like, speak up if you have a problem because I wont be asking you again.

Soo good. The tacos were bomb. Definitely go for the AlPastor if you go visit! Our server was great too. She took excellent care of us and made sure we were well taken care of

Delicious food and very attentive staff

We had the street tacos and the elotes(street corn). There are many varieties of meat available with varying spice/flavour. The food was great and service was quick. We ate outside and it was a great end to our day in Kelowna.

My mother and I are from Abu Dhabi and we came to Kelowna on a trip and we came here three times. The food was amazing each time, and Belle was our server twice and she gave excellent service and made great recommendations of food and drinks for us to try that we loved. This is a great spot!

El Taquero catered our wedding and did an amazing job. Throughout the entire planning process El Taquero was very easy to communicate with and helped us to plan a menu that worked for us. We were able to do a tasting and got to try each dish before we decided on the menu. At the wedding, they handed out delicious appetizers to our guests. Before dinner, they clearly explained how the buffet would work, so that everything went smoothly. The food was delicious!! We had amazing feedback from our guests, everyone loved the tacos! Would highly recommend hiring El Taquero for anyone in the Okanagan area!

Great Mexican food in Kelowna! Nice atmosphere. The restaurant isnt huge but theres a good use of space inside and a patio area outside on the sidewalk (as of when this review was created, June 2024). The food was quite good, we shared a plate of chilaquiles and a spicy chicken quesadilla. There were a tonne of options available for fillings. When I come back I think Ill try the tacos so I can sample more of the variety on offer. Theres also a decent vegetarian filling section (with a note that they can be made vegan if requested). Our server was great, very friendly and attentive. Vegetarian options: Fillings section of the menu has vegetarian options that can be made vegan

Some of the best Mexican food Ive had in North America. Take out keeps well, dine-in is lovely. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Definitely recommend.

They gave us chicken enchiladas instead of vegetarian ones and although they did refund us, were not apologetic about it at all.

It was okay. The tortilla soup was too salty. Partner got a light case of food poisoning from the corn chowder. Highlight was the Pico de Gallo and the churros. Those were great.

Weve loved El Taquero for years - the tacos, the margs, the people, the atmosphere - so lucky to have this restaurant in Kelowna!

This has been a family favourite for years but tonight was disappointing Tonight we went to celebrate birthday and received the worst service we have ever experienced at this restaurant. The lady serving us was very unfriendly and un-attentive as our drinks sat empty for most of the night. One of our meals was incorrect and at the end of the night- three additional margaritas were added to our bill that were never ordered. The server name on the bill was Brybb d, however I don t think that s the persons name. My recommendation is that She should be taught to smile a bit.

Excellent food, service and value. We ate here for dinner and really enjoyed the evening. The service was friendly and food was delicious. The kids loved their meals and we all left satisfied. Will be coming back here

All around excellent! Best tortilla chips ever. Tasty margs (I had the Pina Pico - jalapeno + pineapple = nuf said) coupled with street tacos, best Mexican food Ive had in Kelowna thus far. Bonus, they also cater.

Margarita was awesome ! Tacos were a bit on the greasy side and higher price for tacos but they did taste really good. The three hot sauces they give are also really nice. Waiter was great ! Parking: Extremely limited paid street parking near a bus loop area. The nearby lots are paid and youll have to walk.

Weve been here a couple of times and loved both times. This is now our favourite mexican restaurant in town. The Tostadas and delicious and we tried the Nachos today, very yummy. My favourite dish is the Chilaquiles with added chicken. We will be going back many times.

I went here during the dine around event in january with friends and i loved their food! I ordered their chorizo crispy taquitos, tamales, and churros. It was all fabulous and i only got photos of the tamales because i ate everything else too quickly! I would highly recommend this restaurant, and they also have a great taco tuesday deal!

One of the most disappointing customer service experiences I ve ever had. 4 different waitresses, waitresses asking for me to pay up and get the bill before we had even received our food.. poor communication all around. The nachos while tasty were very skimpy and not at all worth their $20+ price. Our mains came out all messed up and they fought us on our order when we asked it to be brought back. The lady gave me some excuse involving their menu items not being able to alter prior to a semi-colon but only after a comma.. I m sorry if there s fine print or an English grammar class that needs to be taken prior to arrival I would honestly just avoid. Our many waitresses did not provide any context before placing our order, billing us, and failing to properly feed us.

Fae and Leslie are absolutely amazing, the food is by far the best I ve tried in kelowna and the owner always makes an effort to stop by my table and say hello when I m in. Also they keep a very great atmosphere in the building. 15/10 recommend to everyone!

A Kelowna local recommended this restaurant as having the best tacos in the city. She wasnt wrong. I got the 3 taco mix and match with pollo adobo, pollo mole verde and pescado veracruz. They were amazing! The fish was such a hearty, robust flavor and definitely my favorite. The adobo had quite a kick to it but the pineapple helped to balance it; still a bit too spicy for me, but still good. The mole verde was very good too; a delicious, savory flavor with a nice crunch from the pumpkin seeds. The wait staff was very accommodating and helpful with navigating the menu for someone who has limitations when it comes to spicy flavors.

Best tacos I ve ever had. Far better than any other taco place I ve been to in B.C.

Amazing Mexican food, I have enchiladas and my friends ordered a Chicken bowl, while the enchiladas were really good (me and other friend really enjoyed it) but the other friends who ordered the chicken bowl said it was okay and chipotle bowl is much tastier and cheaper than what we got here. Overall the staff were really friendly and helped me a make small customization to the enchiladas I ordered.

This place is great! Last time we came through Kelowna years ago this place was new, and the tacos were great. We were here yesterday, and the tacos are still great and still reasonably priced. I definitely recommend stopping here. Wish they werent so far from our home :)

This is not the place you want to go for good or even decent Mexican food it is not authentic at all, that is grossly over priced. Go to latin fiesta or fiesta del sol for the best mexican food in town even Cantina del Centro which is a five minute walk away on bernard is a much better choice! Edit: I gave it one more shot and was so sad nothing has changed the food is still bland and overpriced

The best tacos in Kelowna! Our go-to spot. Everything is so authentic and delicious. We order the chinga tinga and shredded pork street tacos and queso birrias tacos everything and they always hit the spot. The chips are incredible and so good with the salsa and guacamole! Will keep coming back!

El Taquero catered for our Best of Kelowna event and their service and food was amazing! All of our guests loved it and went back for more. They were efficient and very friendly. If you re looking for cateteres we highly recommend them. Vegetarian options: They have great Vegetarian options.

A taste of Mexico in Kelowna. They make a delicious margarita! Price is 13$ for three tacos of your choice. I tried vegano burrito which is served with refried beans (17$) while my partner tried the birria, slow braised beef shank with consom (22$) which he enjoyed. There are lots of options on the menu. Service was just OK on a Sunday night. A great spot for afternoon cocktails or a quick lunch. It is a small place and not ideal for large parties. I think they close by 8:00pm which is too bad since their style of food would make for a tasty late night snack.

Such an amazing little place, beautiful looking inside, this place is small but mighty! I visited for the first time this weekend and I can tell you Id go downtown specifically for this food! The quesa birria was to die for, I was so impressed! I had the Pina colada to drink and I could have had so many more it was so good! 5 stars all around, this place is a gem! Best tacos Ive had since my time in mexico... no kidding. I had 4 tacos...chicken adobo, al pastor... yum. Salsa and chips were great. One small foible... the margaritas are very sweet. Order them dry and they are yummy. My daughter had the mushroom burrito and it was absolutely delicious. Service was friendly prompt and courteous. Very good experience. 100% reccomend.1

Visited here for a birthday dinner of eight people. Most of the table s food took a long time to come and when it arrived, it was lukewarm/cold. One person received a completely wrong order - an enchilada instead of a salad. Lovely churros for dessert but the waitress kept blah-blahing about how good they were and how she wished she could have one, so my husband finally gave her one, which I thought was weird

Starting with an amazing margarita and Pina colada that I shared with my girlfriend. Continued by sharing four differents tacos, all great, expecially the fish tavos. Then shared a burritos. The burritos size was really big, we didnt finished it. It was tasty and had a lot of meat. A little more spicy than I expected. Great service and atmosphere.

My husband and I recently tried this restaurant for the first time , after wanting to come here many times before !! We had the fastest service , the food came out faster then ordering at taco del mar We are both vegan and the food was incredible , fresh tortillas made in house , sooo flavourful , mouthwatering , left us wanting more. The best margs we ve ever had .. I had a double , you couldn t tell it was a double. Presentation was beautiful , there salsas have so much flavour! The guac here is so creamy , this is the best Mexican food we ve ever had and we have dined at some of the most highly rated Mexican restaurants. This is our new top favourite and I must say my favourite restaurant now in Kelowna !! Also the prices are not expensive we were shocked! Vegetarian options: Lots of flavourful Vegan and vegetarian options!!:) the vegano burrito , chefs kiss.

Very busy place! Good food and service.

Stopped here for lunch on a whim. Walked in with my husband and three kids. I got the corn soup (forget the name, but it was damn good) and three tacos. I also got the mezcalrita and it was delish. My husband got four tacos and some kind of coconut drink which he enjoyed. Kiddos had quesadillas, nachos, and burritos, all which they really enjoyed. They were really sweet to the kids as well. Kid-friendliness: My son noticed their cactus plushy and they let us have it at the table while we ate. It was super sweet of them!

Headed to El Taquero for brunch and was really impressed with the friendly service and great flavours! I had the tacos and liked the optional sauces so you can choose the heat in each mouthful. The ice coffee was sweet and comforting, and the esquites (corn chowder) was next level! Good amount of gluten free options too.

We had a good time there. Good vegetarian options. However they charged us 2 beers when we only had one. When i told management they responded quickly I m not sure if it was an honest mistake or they were being too clever to charge me for 2 beers. Anyways they refunded my money in the end. Overall 4 stars with the experience.

Been here a couple times with friends the atmosphere is really great for that. The food is one of those you have to know what you re getting into. My first time there I didn t really enjoy it but every time I go back I find something I enjoy more and more. Their burritos and quesadillas are really good. The prices rage but are fairly good.

This place was really awesome. Stopped by because I wanted a margarita and was so satisfied with all of the food. The quesabirrira tacos had the most amazing smokey oil kindof sauce which was out of this world. Really loved the pollo and the pork shoulder street tacos as well. Would definitely come back here.

You ve got to try the street tacos. My favourite is the fish but they re all so good! Staff are always awesome. The margaritas are delicious. Free water just for sitting down. Seriously, what are you waiting for? Let s get loco èse!

Became violently ill after eating the enchiladas yesterday at lunch. Couldnt leave the bathroom for hours and am still sick today.

El taquero catered our wedding this past weekend, and all I can say is 10/10. The guests all absolutely loved the variety and the quality of the food. The appies were delicious and the service of the appies was incredible. The taco bar was perfection and there was more than enough food to go around. The staff at el taquero was so friendly and so efficient. This experience was incredible and I d highly recommend to anyone!

Ordered fish tacos to go last night, and unfortunately these were the worst tacos we have ever had out. There was no sauce, the fish was very bland, and all there was for topping was some corn. We were thoroughly disappointed for the amount spent on 10 tacos.

Came in to grab lunch to go. Great staff!! he helped me right away to find the perfect birria I was requested to buy cause I has no clue.. Now let me tell u about this taco cause we got three in the meal it was the most fresh and tasty taco I ever had!!! The meat is so flavorful and the juice u dip it in OMG!! Their food is definitely made with love... I only got one soooo Im definitely coming back over and over and over again....see you soon!

Really enjoyed the tacos. Fantastic service, very friendly. Great, very authentic tacos, delicious (street corn) chowder for a side. Very fun atmosphere, felt like a family friend with a warm welcome. Food service was very quick. Having spent some time in Mexico, food does not dissapoint. Definitely the place to go if you are craving real, authentic Mexican foods. Drink menu was extensive and had some interesting mixes on classic margs. Great value as well. Will definitely be back.

Tonight was our first visit. We had a fantastic experience! Our server Mackenzie was amazing! She answered all of our questions knowledgeably, was attentive and provided outstanding service! From our tasty margaritas to our delicious food, the whole evening exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

Love this restaurant, it s my go to, I swear I m there weekly! The food and drinks are delicious, I ve never been disappointed and the staff is wonderful!! Highly recommend going and getting the quesabirria!
