It is one of the Mexican restaurants that really got it right with the delicious flavor, seasoning and the warmth of the service that causes a pleasant stay and a very good taste in your palate!! highly recommended

The burrito comes with sour cream, salsa and is surprisingly good. Well worth coming here for the sunny patio aswell

Truly a hidden gem! We went there this past week to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was very quiet but it was a weekday and seemingly poor tourist season this summer (so far). The owner was very friendly. They were able to accommodate our request by giving our kids breakfast options for dinner ! Me and hubby had appys refried beans, guac, baja burrito and chicken fajitas. We ordered few drinks lychee margarita, spicy jelapeno drink (can t remember the name), hibiscus drink and a complementary avacado drink. EVERYTHING was great - good presentation, great taste. Drinks were really really good! Overall, we were so pleased to have discovered this place and will surely return. Place is clean and nicely decorated.service is top notch, super attentive and friendly people ! I hope more people support this local business !

Nice place and good service, but theres no reason carnitas that bad should cost so much. Boiled, sliced, frozen to perfection and soaked in oversalted broth. Pretty sure the horchata comes in packets. The beans were good. Dissappointing meal.

An absolute treat! The food was incredible, fresh and clean, made with great care and attention. I havent had Mexican food of this quality since I was last in Oaxaca. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. Next time we are in Kelowna, we will absolutely be back.

Love the authentic decor. We came in late after a fun filled day and we were greeted with a great smile. We ordered four different dishes and all were absolutely delicious!!

Impromptu dinner date after seeing the Happy Hour $3 off cocktails and tacos sign. Very pleasantly surprised. Guacamole was frankly awesome. Taco sampler platter was just right. Atmosphere was lovely. Definitely a hidden gem. I can see this becoming our go to Mexican spot.

Great margaritas went for happy hour! But when we got home we realized we didn t get our happy hour prices. :(

Amazing atmosphere and beautifully yellow. I m happy that they also have great live music. The complaint I have is with service and food. Overall the tacos were great caught them at happy hour and it was great deal. The chicken quesadilla was wet and soggy. We felt rushed and were given the bill unasked for. This was very odd behaviour as we were talking and enjoying the atmosphere. It was not busy at all. Maybe a one off occurrence but it ruined our experience.

Amazing decor, food and hosts! Loved visiting this quirky place full of art, amazing cocktails (strawberry margarita was yummmmm) and the beef barbacoa burrito was one of the best Ive had. Delicious homemade hot sauce to boot . Ill be back for more!

We came here for a staff party of 17 people and Luis and his team were fantastic. Him and his wife own it and came to Kelowna after running a successful restaurant for decades in Mexico. The food and drinks were great, the service was fantastic. Music and atmosphere were amazing. We had a fabulous evening. It truly is a Hidden Gem.

I had my first experience dining here and it totally exceeded my expectations! It truly is a hidden gem in Kelowna. Great Mexican food, margaritas were phenomenal, the avocado martini was a fav of everyone s! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, family owned- this is the place! Came here with a big group and Luis, Oana and the team were amazing. Food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing (Mango Habanero Marj was my fav).

So glad we stopped here for lunch. Both the Pork Carnita and Baja Shrimp Burritos were outstanding. Very flavourful! The atmosphere was perfect too.

Everyone was charming.

We are Mexican food devotees and have repeatedly visited all Mexican restaurants in Kelowna over the years. We were particularly interested in discovering what the Mexican Hidden Gem restaurant was about. On a recent visit, we found the soup was terrific - home made from scratch with an authentic Mexican flair. The carnitas are very high quality, more generous than most places, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is homey with a large space for outdoor dining. With so much attention given to high quality food preparation and a pleasant experience, this relatively new restaurant is a winner!

4 diners in total Small portions for the amount we paid - portions resemble fancy dining portions. The appetizers do not serve teo people. 1 meal served cold Fajitas- were served not sizzling and were luke warm at best Chips served with the small salsa and guac were far over done almost burnt. Will not be back!

Dissapointed. Steak was cold and risotta was hard and chewy.

My husband and I have eaten at The Hidden Gem before. We love the food and the atmosphere. You dont feel rushed, very relaxing. We dined there this evening again and it didnt disappoint. Tammy, our server, is very friendly and welcoming. The Hidden Gem is our go-to for special occasions and highly recommend.

With out a doubt, the best Authentic Mexican food that Ive ever tasted. Wonderful owners and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our large group.

We were traveling through Canada for a few days and we were beginning to miss Mexican food and this was the best we ate. Authentic tacos, delicious flautas. Excellent service and a very warm and welcoming place. Totally recommended

Delicious, authentic and fresh/flavoursome dishes! The homely house vibe, with the sheltered courtyard is a lovely space to experience such lovingly made Mexican food. Staff were genuinely friendly and interested in us enjoying our experience at casa de Frida. 5 Stats all day long! Vegetarian options: Loads to choose from Kid-friendliness: Outdoor space lends itself well to children but its not geared to children.

A different place in the center of Kelowna, since it is a house with a beautiful patio! We tried, among other things, salmon with an exquisite preparation! The characteristic Mexican staff, very helpful and friendly!

Made a reservation for 4, 3 days later received an email. Canceling our reservation. No explanation, Not a great way to start a business, and leaves a bad taste. An explanation would have satisfied us and we would have understood the cancelation, but not just on an email, that is terrible service and not a great way to start a business, and build rapport with clients.

my husband and I booked this location, and we liked it right away, the room was decorated in a Mexican style and the background music was fantastic, it felt like we were in Mexico Spectacular and very tasty food I recommend the caramelized salmon with mango cream and ginger and the rubber steak with guacamole sauce, very good :) and finally to end the evening a nice dessert: churros with ice cream right price Kid-friendliness: outdoor childrens area and also for our 4-legged friends outdoors

Portions were small, prices higher than menu online and it took 45 minutes for our food to come. My son ordered a pork burrito which came with chicken instead no sauce very bland. No chips and salsa provided if you wanted this it was $7.50 for enough for 1 or 2 people. Disappointed.

I ordered the surf and turf, and my husband ordered chicken in mushroom sauce. Dont do it. I asked for a medium rare steak, and they gave me a very rare steak, put on the grill only to leave some grill marks and no cook time. The shrimp had been so badly overcooked that they were shriveled. The salad dressing they used tasted as though it was poured over the entire dish. This was, by far, the worst surf and turf Ive ever had. My husbands mushroom sauce tasted like it came from a box of oxo. It didnt have a single mushroom in it either! We paid an outrageous price for food that tasted like a the servers were responsible for cooking it. I say that because our server only appeared 3 times during our meal, and we waited for an age! I was so disappointed, I boxed the steak and brought it home to cook it. The cut was full of sinewy threads and tough as all get out. $38.00 for an unpalatable plate of food. I dont think well be back.

Finally, a Mexican Resturant in Kelowna with truly delicious salsa verde enchiladas! So very tasty in a vibrant, attractive setting, and it s right across from our pottery studio @claylinepotterystudio! I ll be a frequent luncher!

I recently visited your restaurant and wanted to share my thoughts. First off, the ambiance and cocktails were fantastic a true highlight of the evening. The vibrant colors and overall atmosphere created a great dining experience. However, I must express some disappointment regarding the food. We ordered the tortas de Carnita, and while we managed to finish the plate, the meat wasnt as warm as expected. It left us wishing for a better culinary experience. The surf and turf, unfortunately, didnt align with our expectations of a Mexican dish. The small steak, a handful of gummy shrimp, a modest salad, and mashed potatoes felt out of place. When we expressed our concerns to the waitress, she kindly offered a complimentary margarita to compensate for the inconvenience. While we appreciate the gesture, its worth noting that the dish in question cost $38. I share this feedback with the hope that it contributes to the continuous improvement of your establishment. I believe with some adjustments, your restaurant could truly excel, offering a consistently outstanding experience for all patrons.

This restaurant proves that you can make something out of nothing. The location has been transformed into an authentic Mexican restaurant, owned and operated by local hard-working immigrants from Mexico. I have been there a few times and it seems to get better every time. Its a nice small place with a unique atmosphere where the staff will take good care of you and your family. We went there for our Business Christmas Party and it was superb. I have been before and loved it each time however I was especially impressed how they accommodated our group (14 people). The service was excellent as always, they promote such a personable and warm atmosphere. Also the food really is drool worthy, and the Margaritas are fantastic. We will be going for many years to come ...I will absolutely book parties there again. Thank you for another amazing evening

Had a wonderful staff Christmas party and the restaurant was very willing to accommodate our party of ten. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was excellent. We will be coming back!

Terrible experience, 4 people for dinner, Mashed potatoes...were they real? But were COLD, veggies COLD, gravy with mushrooms tasted (like bisto box) And COLD, filet lukewarm....YES TRUE, ALL PLATES COLD Shrimp cocktail served as NOT ADVERTISED..said garlic butter sauce with FRESH Baquette...got shrimp in pink SPICEY sauce with very Hard slices of Baquette you could not bite into??? All we were told...we will talk to chef...REALLY NEVER GO AGAIN THIS IS NOT MADE UP..TRUE

This is difficult. Ive been wanting to go here with my gf for a while and decided to try it on a whim. Not expecting anything fancy. Asked the formality at the door and told it was casual formal dining and we ordered the 3 course meal to share with Onion soup and pinot noir to pair off with. Soup was good but not unique. Then came the meal which was a tenderloin with mushroom sauce, risotto, and bruschetta. Bruschetta was normal fair but then the main dish came. The risotto was dry and had two large clumps of dried risotto together. The asparagus and carrots had literally no seasoning or sauce of any kind - just boiled and put on the plate I believe. I mentioned the risotto and they brought another one in a small bowl and didnt replace the main. This time it was mushy and drowned in black pepper. All we could taste was the pepper. At that point we gave up because when I mentioned this to our waitress and that someone needs to taste it before sending it out it was just a well thats just the way its done and Im sorry you dont like it. Well, risotto isnt rocket science and for a $50 small meal it needs to be done way way better. Then came the creme Brule and the sugar topping was burned (not toasted to caramelized but burned so thats all that could be tasted). The wine pairings were pretty low end. The cutlery, despite being 3 course with a soup (so then four dishes) didnt even have cutlery for salad and a meal. Paper napkin. It was all just a ridiculous attempt at moderately fine dining. A really big disappointment. I dont understand why so many people give 4 and 5 stars for mediocre and such low quality cooking. This diamond is still in the rough.

I really enjoyed my experience at Hidden Gem! The food gives off a little bit more of a homemade look, but elevated. Everything tasted amazing. Our server was kind and chill which I appreciated. She was not obviously fishing for tips, but just kind and genuine.

The Hidden Gem Restaurant, is literally a hidden gem. The tenderloin with mushroom demi glaze was the best steak I have ever had in my entire life. Cooked perfectly and so tender you dont even need a knife. The Keg and the demi glaze at Cactus Club have NOTHING on this restaurant. I highly recommend trying out this special local business for your next date night. Thank you so much for the wonderful evening. We will definitely be back soon. A big five stars to the Hidden Gem.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we had such a great time! Hidden Gem is a warm and welcoming place for everyone. We received incredible service from a server who checked in with us very frequently, which seems rare in downtown Kelowna. The food was INCREDIBLE. They have glass straws for their cocktails which I just thought was super cool. We received gem shaped chocolate and 2 roses when we asked for the bill. 5/5 recommend you go here for your next date night!

So first time there, thought it would be upscale considering the prices. Was not disappointed in the food even though I had to send my meal back because it was stone cold. I was disappointed in the atmosphere, for an old Victorian style restaurant it was too bright and very noisy as there was a party upstairs with a loud band. Was expecting a little more ambiance kinda made you feel like you were at a pub. Not a place would go back to.

There were 7 of us, and we had our reservation well in advance because we were coming from out of town. The online reviews were good, and the menu looked fabulous. The waitress was cold when we arrived, and we instantly felt unwelcome. She never warmed up. Two of our party ordered steak, both sent it back. When they returned, it was as if nothing had been done at all one was turned completely off and couldnt eat it (it was taken away and comped), the other was sent back again, and it still came back almost blue. Nobody enjoyed their food...dry chicken, too rare steak, bland flavours all around. It was discussed with the waitress that the steak was not eaten, she said shed talk to the owner. The rapid response was that they could only comp one meal...The meal not being comped was the one of the woman wearing a veil because this was clearly her bachelorette dinner. No, we weren t a rowdy group. We were then served with cute little cigar boxes and were hopeful that it would be chocolate (we heard they make their own), instead it was our bills. One box contained a Hidden Gem that was clearly a very old piece of chocolate that the waitress swooped away very quickly. Again, it was reiterated that the steak was not being paid for. She actually told us That s fine, it ll just come out of my pocket. Cash was paid for that meal minus a $20 for the meat. We later questioned if she was in fact the owner. The Hidden Gem is overpriced, bland food, served in an unwelcoming (hostile?) environment. The positive online reviews are obviously written by family/friends/owners, and the menu is not as advertised online. Save your money and go anywhere else you ll feel more welcome, and the food will be worth eating. One star is way too many.

Went there on a date night it was too bright inside and found a grey hair in my food half way through the meal and restaurant denied it was from the kitchen and then I emailed the manager who said it was a cat hair but they didn t even replace my food with another meal rather i paid the full amount. What a disappointment WON T SUGGEST THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE.

This restaurant is named very appropriately. We were extremely impressed with our entire dining experience. The staff are friendly, and quick to top up your glass. The food was out of this world! The flavors were incredible and the portions were perfect. Their wine list is short, but they have a decent variety of amazing bottles to choose from. I must recommend the creme Brule for dessert! Ah-ma-zing!

Yes we finished. It was what you would give a 6 year old. Cold, uncooked, 1/4 cup of potato and the steak was reversed per order and it cost 104.00 dollars. The meal was a joke and as we had just been to the Keg last week we really are in a position to compare. That meal was delicious, they didnt cheap out and about 30.00 less. Its not hard to eat 3 pieces of uncooked carrot and 4 green beans and 2 asparagus and 2 TBS of potatos and not the underwighed steak.

I had a very nice experience at Hidden Gem with my wife and young daughter. Our server was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The wine was good, especially the glass of Rosé (thank you for that gesture!) The appetizers and entrees were amazing... unfortunately, it led me to fill myself right up (after helping my daughter finish her meal)... so we didnt get to try their dessert. Next time.

The name is well warranted, Hidden Gem was a unique experience in a converted old house in downtown, with a quiet and romantic ambience inside, extremely friendly service and absolute delicious homemade style food that clearly has a lot of heart put into it. Everything was made to perfection, generous sizes and delicious! We were the only ones dining at 5pm on a Sunday, which is a shame as a place like this should be so much busier for how good they are! We will be spreading the word about here, and will return when we are in town next!

This is a great intimate place to take your loved one on a date. The food tastes so good, and the service is great! At the end the lady gets a rose and the gentleman gets the bill. Amazing idea! Thank you!

Fantastic! My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner this weekend. The restaurant has a warm, unique, atmosphere and the host Chantal was very welcoming. Theres cool art on the walls to enjoy (and purchase). We picked up a very awesome painting of Keith Richards and Mic Jagger. We shared the bruschetta and Caesar salad to start (delicious!) and hubby enjoyed an amazing pasta dish while I devoured the chicken breast with wild mushroom sauce, risotto, and veggies. So good! Highly recommend! Weve eaten all over the world but this was a special experience and the food was outstanding. We even asked the Chef to come for a bow...although Delilah was hesitant, we were so honoured to give the Chef well deserved accolades!

This was an interesting take on fine dining. A good choice if you want something unique and you enjoy a different kind of experience. The food we had was very tasty and we would go again.

We had a great night here. The atmosphere was rich and the food was great. The bruschetta especially was unreal, the steak was good but the Creme Brulee did leave a little to be desired. The staff was very friendly and the service was top notch, especially from the taller gentleman who seemed to have a rapport with everyone. Our primary waiter unfortunately did not appear to be on par with the rest of the staff as he was a bit inattentive and standoffish, but it did not prevent us from having a great night!

This dine around menu is full of wholesome choices, classic and simple offerings served with love and attention. Food was excellent with the one small exception of the baguette slices which I felt were a little stale. They were dry like they are supposed to be but a little rubbery itstead of crisp.

I made a reservation at this restaurant for Valentines Day and was completely ignored... Thanks for the wonderful Valentines Day dinner two thumbs down. Wont ever be going back to this restaurant. Made a reservation for 830 and was told to wait outside until called unfortunately no call came in we decided to have our Valentines dinner on the 13th because of work rebooking is out of the question. Also your response is quite similar to the service we got that night.... Horrible

My wife and I attended dinner at the Hidden Gem for my wifes birthday. Mr. Levesque was our server. Despite the fact that it was a very busy night (Valentines Day weekend) Mr. Levesque was an attentive and courteous server. We were encouraged to relax and not rush. The food was excellent as was the service. We both had a great evening and would recommend this restaurant based on the service and quality of the food that we had on our first visit!

Like the vast majority of reviews that I read before going for dinner at the Hidden Gem, our experience was really positive. The ambience is a little unusual, being in a homely, even perhaps quaint, and old house down town. Some may not value that atmosphere...but we did! But the food was truly excellent. We started with crab cakes which were nice, but the mushrooms crostini were amazingly good...a perfect sauce to go with them For the main course, the pork loin was cooked to perfection...really...and accompanied by saffron rice and vegetables cooked exactly as they should be (in my opinion!). We were so impressed by the food that we stayed to order dessert, unusual for us. Again, we were not disappointed. Its not the cheapest place in town, but I felt that we had really got value for money. Sadly, there were only three tables with diners that evening, which suggests that the place is still hidden, despite clearly being a gem in terms of the food served.

Not a great experience at the Hidden Gem. The atmosphere, music, location and decor was great but the food and service was really lacking. They were short on staff and we did recieve an apology for 2 people calling in sick though. The apology came after waiting a long time for our food. If I am going out to spend good money somewhere that is classified as fine dining I expect the food to be top notch and it just wasnt even close. The quality of ingredients was definitely there but execution was definitely not. And as far as respecting personal space in regards to covid, our server was such a close talker, even whispered in my ear when telling me the daily special that was sold out. It was weird and uncomfortable to have a stranger that close to my face when communicating. Its been over a year since treating ourselves and going out for fine dining and the vibe that we were given by the staff and manager/owner(?) was not warm or welcoming at all. The server even said that one of the people at our table doesnt know how ordering fine dining works when she was taking our orders WITHOUT ASKING for our orders, it was weird and very awkward, our server took zero control of the dining experience. The young man who was clearing tables was the one who truly impressed us with his great big smile, professionalism and kindness. He was noticeably fantastic and kinda saved the experience for us from being a bigger disappointment. He is also the main reason we tipped generously. It might have just been an off night at the Hidden Gem because of being short staffed, I know these things happen. But perhaps leading the evening with, apologies in advance that we are short staffed, and are sold out of the following items, so please be patient with our cook, server, etc. That may have changed the perception of the entire experience for us all.

I took a party of six to the Hidden Gem to cap off an enjoyable day of wine touring last Saturday. The atmosphere was refreshingly cool with an interesting eclectic vibe. Service was fantastic from start to finish, but the real star of the show was the food. Absolutely mouthwatering. The starters? Incredible. The main course? Mind altering. Dessert? Just get the dessert. It was a fantastic way to end an epic day. Thankyou to all the staff at Hidden Gem. You certainly live up to your name.

The decor and food were great,the staff made sure we had an excellent date night. My partner and I left happy strolling with full bellies,best complement I can think of.

You need to check out this restaurant!!! Literally the steak melted in our mouths and the halibut was cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable and will definitely be back!!

I was highly recommended this place and it was amazing. We started off with the bruschetta it was amazing. My server Tracey was amazing. We ended the night with tenderloin witch was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended and will be coming back every time I come to kelowna.

Absolutely horrible experience! What a joke that they call this place fine dining. The only positive about our experience was the quality of the food, everything else was a massive disappointment. Ive had much better service at a hot dog stand, the servers attitudes were appalling. It looked as if the servers were being forced against their will to be working. Cocktails took 10 plus minutes after you would order one. Then they would cough up attitude when they brought the wrong drink that you ordered. The last thing to mention were the prices, weve eaten at much higher end restaurants and paid way less. Save your money, time and go somewhere else!!!

We held our small intimate wedding at the Hidden Gem and it was amazing!! The food was fantastic, and Tammy and Jean-Rene did a beautiful job of the whole evening! It was perfect. It is tough to find high quality dining in Kelowna and the Hidden Gem does it. Please, out of your own self-respect, avoid this place at all costs. I was there as a warm-up DJ for a small patio party with a few of my friends last night. When I walked in to set up the equipment, the owner and some of her staff ridiculed me for wearing a face mask, and continued to belittle me throughout the setup. I stayed for the whole show, mostly to support my friends in the DJ booth but also to see if the owner would change her attitude towards myself and my friends. At the end of the night, she came up to the DJ who organized the event and tore apart his and everyone elses performance and told him that she owed him nothing and to never come back despite the large amount of drinks she had sold during the party. I would never go back there to eat, drink or DJ out of self-respect. Nobody deserves to be treated the way my friends and I were treated by the owner and staff, especially considering our warm, grateful and professional attitude towards them. Please avoid this place, it does not deserve your business.

Wow what a great little restaurant! Definitely a little curious about the quality of food we were gonna get when we saw the small seating area, but man does that chef serve with a big heart! The Tenderloin I had was definitely a top 3 for me!

My wife and I recently visited this quaint establishment while on vacation. We seldom find restaurants that live up to our expectations of a wonderful and romantic dining experience but this delivered in spades. Due to COVID protocols the seating was limited which was fine and appreciated by us and we had a reservation so all was good. We had just spent a few days of visiting wineries and indulging so were not terribly hungry so decided on 2 appetizers and a main to share. When we ordered, the waitress was more than accommodating and asked if we wanted seperate plates for the main to share or one, suggesting that it was more romantic for the one, Lady & the Tramp, style, we loved it and chose the single plate to share. My wife had the French onion soup which was to die for, the best ever she has had. I had the crab cakes and was equally impressed and also sampled her soup and agreed that it was excellent! We shared the chicken confit which didnt disappoint. It came with freshly made fettuccine in a flavourful cream sauce with moist chicken chunks and scallions. It was to die for. We came to this restaurant not terribly hungry but based on the previous courses were intrigued to see if their dessert selections could live up to the previous courses. We were not disappointed. We finished the night with a chocolate terrine that melted in your mouth and was light and flavourful. After our dinner we had the opportunity to meet the owner and chef and learned that he was from Montreal and everything was made from scratch. We could tell that his heart and soul was definitely in the dishes he served. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive and engaging with impeccable timing. This was truly one of the best dining experiences we have had in a very long time and I was impressed enough to post this review. My first post ever which says something!

Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice romantic setting. The team here keeps everything clean not like the restaurants downtown where nobody is cleaning tables. Also the bruchetta was to die for.

Appetizers came out and were lovely (Shrimp and crab cake dishes). Main courses were good until I found not one but two hairs in the pasta feature. When we told the waitress about the hairs she dismissed the possibly of the hair belonging to any staff member (I have very long hair, and my boyfriends hair was not long enough). They took the pasta off the bill ($30) despite finding the hair it was a little over prized for what it actually was.

Took my lady out for date night to this place as it was recommended by a friend. Our server was Tammy, she went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. The food was phenomenal, the service impeccable and the atmosphere was classy and fun. Definitely would recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a lovely evening out.

Great food, fabulous service!

We had an amazing experience taking my sister out for her birthday. The atmosphere is incredibly intimate at night and our waiter was terrifically attentive. I wish we had got his name because he had a strong air of professionalism and genuine glee in serving us. The menu was impressive, as was the wine selection. I especially enjoyed the honey glazed sage pork loin. BUT THE SERVICE! Definitely a night Ill remember for years.

Truly a hidden gem! One of very few restaurants in Kelowna with high quality service and food

I tried the Crab Cake: salty, nothing more. I had the Porkloin: the risotto was not a risotto, the asparagus were served with the white, bottom part, the pork loin too dry, the sauce was just greasy, the flavor of the dish came just from the abundant salt. The dessert should not be worth mentioning: banal crème caramel; the chocolate cake, supposedly dark, was a light grey color and tasted simply like any cake you get at any diner. If you give Italian names to your dishes you are expecting this kind of comments: Bruschetta : too many ingredients; Carbonara : I m glad you don t use bacon, but it s not pancetta either, at that price I would expect guanciale; white wine, why?; cream is absolutely not part of the dish; scallion in not part of the dish; asiago is not even close the right cheese; I read fresh cracked egg , do they use the whole egg?? that would be appalling, only the yolk is to be used; and you do not pan toss the pasta with the egg yolk! Del giardino : it means from the garden, the list of ingredients is a shopping list, nothing else. The ambience was poor: badly lit, it just looks like an old house that was renovated long ago by a bad contractor. We re in the middle of a pandemic: no one wore masks, and moving along withno care for physical distancing. In a city with informed customers that meal would cost one third and that environment would be typical of a cheap-eat place. Update: i dined in the restaurant on Friday oct.30; my comments regard also the menu in general not only something that happened the time I visited the place. paolo

Girlfriend and I came in on Sunday for dine around Kelowna, can honestly say it was one of the best meals Ive ever had. We chose opposite courses so I got a taste of everything and it was delicious. Friendly, accommodating service. Five high quality courses for $45 makes this the best dine around deal weve had so far, highly recommend and well definitely be going again.

I havent eaten there yet because the menu didnt seem very vegetarian friendly the couple times Ive looked at it, but the EDM dance nights upstairs seem cool. The owner is friendly and sweet. They have nice drinks... And most of the music was tight. I will definitely be back!

My wife and I came here on a busy may long weekend. She ordered the 6oz tenderloin and I ordered dinner special (salmon with mashed potato). Can honestly say it was the best salmon Ive tasted. Very cozy and intimate place. The most friendliest staff! Highly recommended!!

Disappointing meal. My wife had the veggie pasta and found it very average. We shared mushy, flavorless crab cakes. I had over cooked tough pork with a greasy gravy that took me back to the 70s. Dessert was a rubbery creme brulee. The only bright spot was the excellent service. The patio would great on a nice night. Reading the other reviews, I can only assume we came on a night the main chef was off sick. In a town with lots of good fine dining options, the Hidden Gem will be lost altogether if they cant improve the food.

My friends and I had an interesting experience here. We called earlier in the day and made a reso for 7:45. We got there at 7:45, and the waitress working told us that we were early for our reso and that the current time was actually 6:45, but she would do her best to accommodate us. Myself and my 5 friends had all travelled from Alberta that day, and we were confused wondering if we messed up because of the time change, but the thing is, we all have smart phones and each of us saw the time roll over to BC time. It was super bizarre she was inconvenienced since there was maybe only 2 other tables inside, and she was seriously trying to convince us that it was actually 6:45. She refused to seat us outside because she was worried it was going to rain (it was +25 and sunny that day) so she made up a table for us inside. REGARDLESS of the weirdness that we all felt from our waitress, she was still exceptionally nice. And the food was fantastic. Everyone loved their meals and was very satisfied by the end. We each had huge portions and were able to take a bit back to our Airbnb for a midnight snack. I may or may not return again.

My very first (and only) experience Ive had at The Hidden Gem was an evening show. The show was great luckily... the rest was awful. We paid $10.00 cover, the service was almost non-existent, the drinks were EXTREMELY weak (paid $8 for a double rum and coke and tasted NO alcohol at all, not even at the bottom of the glass), there was a 16 year old girl standing around behind the bar dishing attitude, the event itself was poorly coordinated, and they refused to refund our cover fee when we wanted to leave before the show even started. They put ZERO effort into turing the experience around for us. No refund, no drinks remade properly... I will likely NEVER come back to this establishment.

Was looking for a date night dinner idea that strayed from the norm and was definitely not disappointed! For anyone who hasn t discovered this literal hidden gem yet, I highly recommend you give it a try! Very nice little Victorian house redesigned and repurposed as a restaurant, not something you come across ever day! Makes for a unique and exciting dining experience. Only downside is it s not for the faint of heart in terms of hitting the pocket book a littler harder than a mere chain restaurant date, but the extra money is absolutely worth it! The service is impeccable, lots of attention to detail, plating is amazing, and the food itself has to be given a serious thumbs up! All in all, if you re looking for somewhere exquisite and out of the ordinary, then you have to check this place out!

We went for the Valentines Day Menu. We were extremely impressed. We were met immediately by Tammy and seated. The chef explained how the menu worked and if we opted for the wine pairing a We did ...an Absolutely one of a kind experience .So happy we went and completely recommend. You will be happy you did. Had a wondeful dinner to celebrate my daughter s graduation. The food and service was amazing ... I had the crab cake to start and it was light and crisp and piping hot. My daughter had the mushroom crostini and wouldn t share! Our entrees were delicious and nicely presented and the creme brûlée to finish was also delicious. Worth a visit!
