Still one of my favorites, their baha shrimp tacos are to die for but Im pretty sad everytime they take my favorite items off the menu, their original tostadas and blackberry basil smash were some of of favorite things in general

Good food flavors. Not the cheapest in the world but good. 2024 update : A bit of a miss this time. Rice was a bit crunchy. The meat still had good flavor, but seemed like there were little things in plating or something that wasnt as impressive.

Great location downtown on Bernard. I ve many here many times, with my boyfriend, family, friends, coworkers and have always had amazing service. The food portions are huge, it is extremely hard to leave hungry. I would argue they have the best margaritas in town! Dietary restrictions: I have an anaphylactic peanut/treenut allergy and have always felt extremely comfortable eating here. Even the churros are nut free!

The food and margaritas here are so good but I avoid coming here because the service has never been top notch. Not sure why they can t figure it out.

I recently dined at Cantina and enjoyed a flavorful and satisfying meal on their patio. We ordered street-style tacos, a quesadilla, starter taco and guac dip, and chicharrones, all of which showcased fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. The tacos, priced at around $5 each, were served on soft corn tortillas and packed with deliciously seasoned meats. If you re planning on ordering tacos, I d recommend getting at least three to make it a full meal. The variety of fillings, from tender carnitas to crispy shrimp ensured every taco had a distinct and enjoyable flavor. Topped with cilantro, onions, and a variety of salsas, they hit the spot. The quesadilla was well-filled with cheese and seasoned meat, but like the tacos you might consider two if youre hungry or not having other side dishes. They are not very large. The chicharrones were crispy and light, making for an excellent snack or appetizer to share. They paired wonderfully with the restaurant s array of sauces, adding a fun, crunchy texture to the meal. Overall, the food was tasty and the portions were reasonable, but be sure to order enough to feel full. If you re a fan of authentic Mexican flavors, this place is worth a visit for a casual, satisfying dining experience.

Nicole at Cantina Del Centro is hands down, the BEST server I ve ever had. She took the standard restaurant expectation, above and beyond. She customized the experience to a personal adventure on the different Mezcal tequila s. Her humour and wit was bar none, the highlight of the evening. Thank you to Nicole, for the best restaurant experience, thus far!

Music was far too loud, we had to yell at each other to hear each person talk and it was still challenging and no its not that we are crusty old folks - even the server had to yell for us to hear what she was asking. Food was not to the same level as the one in Nelson, BC in my honest opinion and we bragged to our friends how great this place was from our experience in Nelson. Our server was great though!

Had a server who sat me and my friends. It was not busy but she took 20 minutes to take our drink order. Gave us the drinks then another friend joined and we waited 15 mins for to come take her drink order. She looked confused on why she was serving us and then set down the drink infront of wrong person (only one person ordered). After that she never came back. Someone else brought our food and the manager took our bills. Our server kept passing our table but never asked us how our food was or if we wanted more drinks.

Our visit to Cantina del Centro in Kelowna was a delightful surprise! The shrimp taco was out-of-this-world delicious, and the chicken burrito was quite good too. I came in expecting the usual Americanized Mexican fare, but I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic and inspired the menu was. They definitely take some interesting risks with their food, and it pays off. The customer service was pretty good overall, though I wish they had told us what the sauces were when they delivered them. One of them was extremely spicy, and a heads-up would have been appreciated. The decor in this place is really cool and adds to the enjoyable dining experience. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

The food is amazing but both times we have gone the service is awful. First time we went they rang in my husbands food wrong so I sat there with my food while we waiting for his. This time, even though it wasnt busy at all the service wasnt great. We got our drinks after we got our food. We would have liked to enjoy our drinks first but instead had warm table water. The food is amazing though.

Beef on tacos was over salted

I m a regular here, and they have the best Diet Coke in town ;) Atmosphere is incredible, service is always on point, they really get to know their regulars! But the food is where it s at! Best Mexican in town!!

Ordered the enchiladas with rice and beans and the tacos. Both were lukewarm. Enchiladas were also soggy. Service was slow. Atmosphere was nice but wont be coming back.

UPDATE: Nick, the manager reached out to me and apologized for the poor service, and has made things right, I will go back Stopped by for lunch today and waited over 15 minutes for the server to acknowledge me, she never did, but served others who got tables after I did. I eventually left.

We came here on a sunny weekday morning (Aug 7) to enjoy a light lunch with our dogs on the patio. Our server was professional, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She was great with our dogs as well, providing treats and attention to them :) The food is a more modern take on Mexican cuisine, and they have many vegetarian options that my husband was able to order! I really enjoyed the food, service and vibe here. There wasnt one thing that we disliked :)

We made a stop here during our road trip in Canada for some good old Mexican food. We ordered from a brunch menu, and it couldnt have been better. The food was delicious, the restaurant looks really nice, and on top of that, we had a lovely bartender Gabriel to serve us. 10/10!

The drinks are great and the food was okay, however the service took a while. My order was missing some ingredients that were listed in the description. Careful when eating outside if it s windy, I did actually get hit in the head with a flying umbrella because of how windy it was.

Group of 4 with a reservation, quick seating. The food was a little underwhelming. Tortillas were a bit mushy, beef was dry, but flavours were good. I liked the prawn taco! Drinks came out really slow, we were almost done our food by the time drinks came out but I enjoyed the mango tango margaritas. Location is great and atmosphere is pretty. Service was standard. Our server was okay, but another passing server was quite nice. Overall, an okay place but for the premium you pay for the location, I wouldn t come here without a reason to be in the area. There is better Mexican food around but it s not terrible. No huge red flags.

One of my favourite stops in Kelowna. I love getting a pineapple margarita with Mezcal instead of Tequila - so smoky and sweet! The food is always fresh and quick. Nicole recommended the Tuna Tostadas and Mexi Fries to start which were amazing! Loved the pineapple on the Al Pastor tacos as well. Great food, staff and an extensive list of tequila options.

As Nelson locals we had to try the Kelowna Cantina while visiting for a Costco trip. Very glad we made the decision to sit at the bar. Bartender Jordan Looked after us very well. With his help we tried the Kelowna specialty drinks Resort Life and Batanga. AMAZING. Chicken wings were especially good at this location also.

Pinche Cantina Del Centro Te Amo. My love for this Restaurant goes far beyond just another place to eat, its such a welcoming experience that leaves you feeling like your at a good friends house for lunch or dinner. I generally eat at the Cantina at least once a week and have always experienced consistency with Service, Food, and Drinks! My favourite place to sit is at the Bar! Nicole rocks out one of the BEST margaritas Ive ever had, sided by her great genuine conversations , not to mention the incredible knowledge she has of the agave, in both Tequila and Mezcal. Being a foodie I love how creative the chefs are with the weekly feature taco! the honey chipotle wings ... Amazing!! and Guac and chips is always a good place to start. The staff at this location are incredible this is one of the main reasons I frequent the restaurant weekly. SALUD

Delicious tacos. Small $5 each. Wish there were some sort of deal like 3 for 12 but what can yah do in this economy. The avocado taco is INCREDIBLE! Full of flavour through and through, an amazing sauce and great textures taco! The pescado taco was a decent, basic taco. Atmosphere inside is very nice. Staff is very friendly. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian section with 4 flavours to try! Makes it easy for vegetarians to find something they like.

I had a great time checking out the tacos here at Cantina. The food was great and the service was fast. Definitely would recommend checking this spot out.

Amazing burritos, they have a habanero sauce, highly recommended for spicy food lovers. Do ask for 3 sauces of different levels of spiciness. I loved the red one.

This is the best Mexican fare I have ever had that wasnt downtown Tijuana. Second time in a year I have made the effort to come here from out of town. The Especial margarita is heaven, the dip platter, perfect starter bite, and the tacos win every time. It was busy and our server tried her best run right off her feet. Always a smile on her face. Cant wait until the next vacation to come back.

Tasty food with fair prices, given they give you plenty of meat in the dishes and everything is freshly made. Very safe for coeliacs. Did only have to mention coeliac and the waitress explained all the precautions they take to prevent cross contamination. When I asked the other server who took the order to let the kitchen know my food needs to be gluten-free he said of course and when he brought it out he mentioned it again that he let the kitchen know to be extra careful. We tried all of the tacos and the fish tacos were absolutely fantastic! The other tacos were ok. Great selection of tequila with a tequila tasting option that can be split into half ounces for 2 people.

Service is incredibly slow. It seems like they pool the tips and you don t have a designated server. Not sure if they just don t care or not. Took about 45 minutes for the first drinks, then another 20 for the food. Keep in mind, we ordered the food and drinks at the same time. If you enjoy sitting around and not getting service, this is the spot for you. Food was pretty good though.

Beautiful atmosphere and excellent service at Cantina del Centro on Bernard! The chicken wings and enchiladas here are amazing! Kayla recommended the passionfruit margarita and she was right! It was delicious along with their virgin piña colada! Will definitely be back for more!

Chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner and I had a really delicious dinner here!! I am vegetarian and had the squash quesadilla and my boyfriend and I shared the papas bravas....holy smokes! You gotta try em! They were out of this world good.

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary. Paige was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. Between her and Paul, we never went without a drink in our hands and we had a constant flow of food. Pauls an exceptional bartender. Cantina del Centro is a great place to sample a wide selection of tequilas, the bar staff was very friendly and helpful in leading us on a discovery journey of different tequilas. A great option when you are looking for a place to eat and drink in downtown Kelowna.

Was really looking forward to the Margarita last night, but was so disappointed with everyone we had.. We each had 2 Margs all different kinds and they all had the same bland notes. Too much lime and not great flavours. Luckily the tacos were really good. The servers were really nice but it was very slow. Took for ever to get drinks, we had to get our own water. Cant say Id return again.

I had an incredible experience at the Cantina del Centro! The melted cheese we ordered was exceptional, a delight for the palate! Additionally, the atmosphere of the restaurant is authentic and welcoming, which made our dinner even more enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive at all times. Overall, I would recommend Cantina del Centro to anyone looking for delicious Mexican food and an overall great dining experience.

One of the best bouritos I have ever had

Went last night for tacos and tried Azul! Our server he brought the bottles to our table so we can ring the bell. It was so much fun!!! Can t wait to come back.

Went for Caesar week, the special Caesar they served was just ok. The taco on top was absolutely delicious, however the caesar made with Tequila I felt along with the table that it didnt work. That said I will go back because based on the taco they have the potential to have great food

Giving 3 stars because I will say the location and tacos were good. But sadly was disappointed with the service. I was there for a birthday party and was easily sitting over half hour before anyone even acknowledged the fact I was there. Once I ordered my drink, it took a very long time to get. I was there for 3 hours and just completely gave up even asking for another as I knew it would be a long wait. I understand it gets busy and I do feel for waitresses, but they were not friendly. They seemed annoyed we were even there. It was weird because we were all waiting for a drink but they kept coming out with drinks that no one had ordered. I watched the waitress ask who owned the drink, everyone said no and she continued to put it on our table and walked away. Which means someone definitely got charged for it. Everyones bill was incorrect .All around, it was just chaotic and unfortunately not a good experience. The only smile I got was when she handed me the machine to pay.

Overpriced margaritas, pathetic and utterly rude customer service.

Waited at the front for over 6 minutes while servers walked backand forth making faces at eachother. Not a single hello or well seat you shortly They were horrible horrible during covid we figured wed give the food a try but we ended up leaving with the other party behind us who also didnt get acknowledged. We went down the street to a pizza place with lovely staff

Where do I even start Cantina was our destination from a hectic work day, the team was stressed and tensions were high. I came in for lunch after training at my gym (shout out to the dog house training gym!) and had the pleasure of being served by the crew at cantina. Smashed a burrito , the beef one , one of the best I ve ever had. My server Nicole was incredibly attentive. Knew when to come around and knew when I was deep in the chew. Cantina del Centro is THE place for a quick and easy or low and slow meal.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is fresh with unique options, I recommend the butternut squash taco and deep fried avocado taco! I m visiting from Portland, Oregon and Nicole was the MOST welcoming and fun person I could ve imagined meeting in a new town. Not only was she serving up amazing drinks from Dan, but she had the best recommendations for seeing the city and was too fun to hang with.

One of my favourite local restaurants; their tacos and margaritas are unrivalled. Many menu items are gluten free, and clearly labeled. Nicole alone gives Cantina a five star rating for her superb customer service; she seems to genuinely care about your experience, and is passionate about the food and drinks she is serving.

My meal here last Sunday was spectacular. The Baja tacos were absolutely divine and I ve never seen such a comprehensive tequila selection in my 12 years in Canada. Plus the atmosphere was incredible. Can t wait to come back this Saturday! Also, can t forget to give a shout-out to the staff, Nicole and Gabe were the best! The sass, the recommendations, the banter 10s across the board!

Best restaurant and service in town! Our server Nicole was fantastic, honestly the best service I ve had in years. She s was top notch, knew all the good drinks and never left us waiting. I will 100% be back!

Terrible experience. Their online booking system is broken and booked on the wrong date. It s hard to get through to a live person and talk to anyone. No real menus and their online menus are written in a font thats very hard to read. The teen waitresses are insecure and unproffessional and treat you like an enemy, or like cattle customers on a conveyor belt. Better service at a fast food place. Food takes a very long time to come. Food was very expensive and nothing stellar. But the worst is their push for technology, that doesnt even work properly. Technology should be an option and a convenience not a chore. Technology is cheap, personal service is what counts, and these guys apparently dont know that. And it s not only that there are old people in the world. Big dissapointment.

No better place in Kelowna to taste different tequilas and other agave spirits. Nicole is a wealth of knowledge and is great at recommending new bottles to try.

They used to have many more margarita options and the tacos are a bit expensive, IMO. Still a fun option if you re in Kelowna though!

Good food and service is good but their website is too simple. They dont have a hard copy menu and only have QR scan which makes you down load the menu each time you access it. This is very annoying. Website and menu needs to be updated to be user friendly. Besides that was a good experience.

Overall, we had a decent experience at Cantina del Centro. Our server was friendly and the food and drinks were good. We got the queso fundido for an appetizer and it was really tasty, but not worth the price for the portion. For our mains, we ordered a quesadilla and 3 tacos, and again they were good, but the portion size was just way too small. The value of the food did not match the portion size. Would probably try a different Mexican place in the future as we werent fully satisfied with our experience.

Gabriel was amazing. Service was top tier. We will be back because of him. We are just learning Spanish and he was so sweet and happy for us to learn. Honestly, best service we have had in Kelowna. Go here. You won t regret it.

Nelsons Cantina del Centro is a far better establishment than Kelownas. Service was very slow, the atmosphere did not match the Mexican theme and was obnoxiously loud. Food was good, but served less than warm and our nachos (appetizer) did not come out first like we asked for. I love Cantina and have been to their restaurant in Nelson many times, but Kelownas location needs better service staff to meet or exceed the expected experience.

Some dishes are too small (quesidilla), some are large (burrito), some are just right (tortilla soup). But all are extremely tasty, if a little over priced. Vegetarian options: Limited, but excellent taste.

My wife and I are moving from Vancouver to Southern Ontario, driving the whole way. Kelowna was stop #1. Found this restaurant because they had a pet-friendly patio. Turns out it also happens to be one of the best Mexican restaurants Ive ever been to, period. The street, the ambience, the live music, the vibe in general. Our server, Eleanor, was fantastic. And the food, oh my God. Go now.

I generally don t like leaving less than 5 star reviews. But over the years I ve watched the service decline from acceptable down to the point where I now don t even bother eating in anymore. Most of their servers are at best standoff-ish. They seem annoyed when you ask questions about drinks or take longer than 5 seconds to order. The bartenders I ve always had better experiences with, but with a large party who wants to sit at the bar just for decent service? I will say it s not every single server, but in 2 years of frequenting here I have noticed a pattern. To me, it signals staff either don t like their jobs and are not good workers, or management demotivates good staff until they quit. And anytime you bring up a concern to the management/owner, expect a condescending reply or to be mostly brushed off with an excuse of some sort. I understand it s hard hiring staff for the summer, but your management team should be able to turn an experience around not add to the disappointment. I ll give 4 stars because the ambiance and food is quite good, we used to do a weekly lunch here with the office until service become so poor. I would recommend takeout or sitting at the bar for anyone looking to try them out!

Great food, good service, just expect to wait longer than usual for your food. We went on Canada Day. The Honey Chipotle wings are the best Ive ever eaten.

Portion sizes are laughable for what you pay and the food is mediocre. I ordered the quesadilla and it only came with 2 pieces and the service was bad. Also, they just blare house music so loudly, really strange.

The food was amazing, hands down one of the best authentic Mexican food places I ve been to. Our waiter was awesome and he was super friendly/accommodating. The atmosphere inside and out is perfect for relaxing with your family. My kids could not get enough of the food either, they scarfed it down and even asked for more because of how good they said it was.

Decent enough, but wouldnt go back unless my mates were there and didnt want to move. Didnt have brisket, servers were uninformed, and they brought wrong drinks. No fatal flaws, but not exactly solid.

The service was extremely slow even though the place was about 1/3 full. From ordering to getting the food it took about 45 mins for 4 tacos. The servers didn t really check in at all. I m not sure if they were too busy. We were on the outside patio and they didn t appear to be checking on anyone out there. The tacos were good over all. Portions were very small. I would say likely need 4-6 tacos per person. Think corn tortilla the size of a navel orange. Might be better to try during the week. Definitely has potential.

Cantina del Centro has a dedicated Gluten Free section in their kitchen. They take Celiac seriously. Better yet, the food is seriously good. Located on Bernard Avenue in downtown Kelowna. This place was just ok. We were glad for the gluten free options. But $27 for the Nachos Grande is a complete joke. Boston pizza nachos are better than these. They used marble cheddar and only on the top chips. Sprayed a bit of sour cream here and there and that was it. The bottom chips were just chips and nothing else. I had the Baha tacos and they were ok. Hard to bite the tortilla and then the fish would shoot out the other side and made a mess all over. I wouldn t get those again either. They were out of a lot of items and had items on the menu that waitress said they didn t serve any more - yam fries. The Queso Fundito dip was mostly good but nothing to write home about. Pretty bland really. We wouldn t go back especially at the prices they charge for not great food. Location is ok but lots of homeless and sketchy people around.

Really great option for dinner and drinks in downtown Kelowna. There were lots of patio seats and even though it was a busy summer Friday night we got a table for 3 on the patio without a wait. Food was great. They use fresh flavourful ingredients. No frozen margs or pina coladas, the pina colada had real coconut shavings and I think fresh juice.

Great food here....tough to get in as it is that good. The service we had wasnt great though...Im sorry to say. Slow and got orders wrong constantly. We went back again last week....Aug.7 2023. We started with a fantastic friendly guy serving us with what sounded like an Australian accent. He was great! He must have had to leave as we then had a girl who did not seem to want to be there. The service rating for the guy is a 5, the girl who seems to dislike her job brings it down.

Service was terrible, our server only once and the place was mostly empty, still took her 20 minutes to talk to us to take our order and that was the last we saw of her. The tortillas werent cooked which made the tacos dry and unpleasant, ND due to lack of service the food was tepid at best. We just moved to Kelowna and this was our first time out, utterly dissapointing.

The food and atmosphere were amazing! Excellent enchiladas and wings. Service was pretty good. Would have benefited from a host to seat guests and if not, reservation signs might help for guests to know what tables are available. We noticed some customers were disappointed about seating availabilty/lack of signage. But mostly everyone seemed to be having a great time.

This is a great place to take a date or partner who likes Mexican cuisine. That being said, the atmosphere seems more akin to what a younger generation would be drawn to. There is edgy artwork and photography on the walls, and the music isnt your stereotypical mariachi band. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeted by a gentleman who asked us if we had ever been to the restaurant before. His enthusiasm for the experience was contagious, and he seemed genuinely excited that this was our first time there. The food was tasty, but not out of this world good. The pico de gallo was just ok, as was the guacamole. I enjoyed my burrito as well, but perhaps because the flavors werent those I anticipated, I found myself wishing for some of the flavors that I had become accustomed to. Either way, I would recommend that everyone passing through Kelowna give this place a shot, as the total package was an enjoyable experience.

Impulse drop in for dinner. Service friendly (if understaffed but it was out of season). Tacos were great and Queso Fundido was the highlight.

First time visiting this location, I was disappointed as it wasnt nearly as good as the one in Nelson, B.C. The food and drink didnt live up to the other locations standard (especially the michelada, complete fail in Kelowna unfortunately, hopefully the bartender was just suffering an off night when I was there.) Might give them another shot if I pass through Kelowna.

Amazing food! Ryan was a fantastic server and the food was unreal too, highly recommend going, this place is a must go ( and I m not even a Mexican food kinda dude)

The food is so slay. Drinks are to die for. Every time we go, we are amazed at how good this place is. Definitely recommend, especially if you love tequila.

The tacos are very small, over priced for the amount of food that you get.
