At Home Block Restaurant, we embrace the bounty of the Okanagan while our name pays homage to the Home Block Vineyard which surrounds us. Our building is crafted from fieldstone and 100-year-old reclaimed barn wood and our cuisine draws on those elemental roots. We integrate natural cooking methods like our wood-fired grill fueled by timber from local orchards and seasoned barrel staves. The result is honest, confident, and approachable food that unites flawlessly with CedarCreek wine.
Spoil yourself and experience fine dining at a very reasonable price. We did the 3 course wine pairing meal and honestly could not finish it all. Some of the best food and wine you can have in the Kelowna area. Amazing service, amazing venue.
We had our 10th anniversary dinner here. Beautiful experience. The 3 course meal was superb, everything tasted great and looked even better. We had a table in the outdoor area, next to the fire pit and were able to look out over the grapes and the lake. Magical evening for us. Thanks for everything.
The restaurant features a farmers table style menu that changes day to day based on the availability of ingredients. They try to focus on locally sourced, but will also reach out to the coast for good seafood. But this is not a purely local endeavor if that's what's important to you. It's also designed to be a "select one of each" menu where your can select a starter, main, and dessert. Not a place for a la carte. As the menu changes day by day, reviews may also fluctuate. But the quality of preparation and attention to detail are there and so I don't think you can go wrong regardless of day. The flavors are rich and balanced, with good complexity. Presentation is excellent, and above the price point. The suggested pairings of wine per dish (included) worked well, no need to switch it around in my opinion unless you really do not like the suggested style. They are flexible in working with you on that if you like. Friendly and knowledge staff who play a great balance of leaving you to enjoy but also being present when needed. The Cedar Ridge Estate complex is large and architecturally very well thought out. The restaurant is no exception, with a beautiful outdoor section overlooking the vines and good heating that makes it comfortable even on chilly fall nights. Overall a fun and very enjoyable night out.
I got taken on a double date by my partner recently to Home Block, and it was such an amazing experience. The food was amazing, so was the service, and the location was really nice. We all got the three course dinner, and the portion sizes were large enough that I went home with a second meal the next day. All the options sounded delicious, I want to go back soon and try some of the other mains and starters :) Definitely recommend checking Home Block out!
We dined at Home Block this evening and can honestly say this was the best dining experience we have had to date. Our table of four was graced by the presence of our server Crystal. I must start off my review by saying that Crystal is the embodiment of serving excellence. We are originally from back east and have dined at restaurants all across Canada and tonight’s dinner service was top notch. Food: we had the 3 course wine paired meal: strongly recommend the rigatoni pasta as it was phenomenal. They make their pasta in house and the flavour was delicious. Our friends shared the beef dish which was 24oz of prime rib cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and the crème brûlée both of which were delicious. The portion sizes for the appetizer, main and dessert were more than fair and ensure you arrive hungry you will not be let down. The wine pairings were also fantastic, the Pinot Noir being our favourite. I will end off this review with a few notes on the service we received during our dinner. Crystal was exceptional from our initial greeting to the end of our dining experience. Over the years the service industry seems to have really taken a down turn but not in any way shape or form was this the case tonight. Crystal’s experience in the service industry and her empathetic nature is not something that can be taught but something that should be savoured. She made our dining experience THAT much better and we sincerely hope she is acknowledged for this as servers like her are few and far between. Our deepest thank you for making our night so special.
Great place. Friendly service. The best food we’ve had in Kelowna so far. The menu changes often. The wines and cocktails were great. The atmosphere second to none. We would come back in a heart beat
Went for set lunch. Service was good, food was good, my main issue was the portion sizes. My husband’s mushroom toast appetizer was a full meal on its own and could have been less than half of what he was served, mine was the same. We wanted dessert but were too full. I recognize that some people want huge portion sizes but we prefer excellence and moderation and to have a sweet at the end. I would have rather paid a little bit extra for a three course lunch and had significantly smaller portion sizes.
We were there on two separate nights. Julie and Lisa were our servers. Their friendliness, attention to detail, and efficiency were exemplary. Food was flavourful, well present and portions were impressive. Would recommend doing the wine pairing with dinner option.
Excellent food, wine and service! Had dinner here for a work Christmas gathering. Everything was amazing!
I attended my spouses Christmas party here and I was thoroughly impressed with the hospitality, food and venue. Firstly, I have a TON of food allergies so I called ahead of time to see if this was ok. The woman on the phone reassured me that it was more than ok, and that the chefs really appreciate the info ahead of time so that they can prepare the best modified dish. I was able to enjoy the entire evening care-free! The service was outstanding and everyone was so polite. It was one of the best experiences Ive had at a restaurant. Thank you!
Great views with fine dining experience.
Very impressive food. Generous portions. Nice property. Top notch service from the moment we walked in the door. I appreciate that the tables are spaced out and not crammed in to maximize revenue at the expense of comfort. That sticky toffee pudding is legendary!
A bit pricey but delicious. Had fixed dinner with wine pairings. Quick and friendly service.
Disappointed in the food. We had twice the quality of food for half the price at another winery across the lake.
very bad experience with this restaurant , decided to come back for lunch after 3years , they are not welcoming us by not seating us when the whole restaurant is empty . don t need to by sloppy after three years
Amazing atmosphere and potentially the friendliest most efficient staff in Kelowna. Highly recommend this place, we will be back
The wine that accompanied the food created a luxurious atmosphere... Kid-friendliness: I wish they paid a little more attention to the childrens menu.
Just finished a wonderful dinner at Home Block. We managed to nab a last minute rezo here and it was perfect! Matt was our server, and was super great understated and personable, he really added to our meal. We had the five course tasting menu and loved every dish. We really appreciated Matt asking for feedback on the dishes on behalf of the staff shows how much the chef and the team care about the food. We had trouble picking a favorite dish!! Each was delicious and well conceived. The newer dish to the menu was the mushroom salad and we loved the combination of flavours, especially the char on the radicchio. The wine pairings were great, and the view over the lake was unreal. We had such a great evening here and would definitely recommend it if in the area!! Of note, each person who served us was lovely professional and yet warm and personable. Felt like a great combo of being at a friends house with a high end restaurant. Thanks for a great evening!!
Great food and outstanding place. Great value for money, service and overall experience.
Awful Service We had a reservation was seated next to the fire pit out on the patio on a hot 30° day!? Ordered the standard dinner course of three items We ve been there before Food is usually pretty good. We ordered the calamari this time. It came out way too Chewy. I ordered the lamb shank, which was a supplementary charge, which I was OK with on a bed of risotto did not taste well. The service was nowhere to be found, except when you re paying the bill. It wasn t that busy for Tuesday night oh well I guess we may or may not be back.
Had a large group reservation and they gave us a beautiful table on the patio. View was stunning!!! Our server Taylor was awesome food, wine, and drinks delicious. Would definitely come back!
location and views were stunning. Wait staff person was soft spoken and hard to understand given the overall noise level. the food however, was lackluster, the pork collar (I have never seen a hog wear a collar) was too chewy/tough. The pasta ragu missed the mark. Calamari was good as was the pate but could easily have been store bought. Sticky toffee pudding was served with a bowl of dark, soupy sauce, nothing like any sticky toffee pudding i have eaten in UK. The creme brule came with a burnt sugar topping, not caramelized like it should be.
Wonderful experience, 3 course menu was amazing , the server was very knowledgeable and its kids friendly u like many others , you can enjoy as a family .
Our server was amazing and went through each item in detail and very attentive. We shared the burger which we both said was one of the best burgers and fries we ve had in Kelowna, and the steak dish with broccolini. The butter lettuce salad was also super refreshing and would eat again! Wine pairings were great!
We enjoyed a lovely lunch here at the start of spring a couple years ago and then crossed over to the Winery side for the soiree of Rose. The interior was beautiful and the food was delicious. We went for the chefs lunch with wine pairings. 2024 update; We visited again in June with our family friends, and enjoyed some tapas on the deck before crossing over for a wine tasting. Food was fresh and delicious as always and the wines were delightful. I also signed up for the wine club this time for some scheduled deliveries of the select offerings that are exclusively sold from base. They offer free shipping for members, complimentary tastings even for your party of guests (I believe up to 6) and access to exclusive events.
The location is wonderful and the staff are lovely. The food was poorly presented and not well cooked. It s a shame because it would take very little effort to elevate it. Right now, it looks and tastes like an average meal at Denny s
Sweet place with 2 course lunch and wine pairing included, go with a friend or two order all the dishes and share= Muy Bueno! Server was very very good.
Our first experience was exceptional and we had to share it with others. Took us too long to get back but it was not disappointing based on what we remembered. Three courses paired with exceptional wines impressed our guests. Thank you to the staff! Dietary restrictions: The kitchen was amazing with how they accommodated my celiac needs. I never felt short changed.
Firstly, the view is exceptional! The restaurant is positioned so that guests eat with a view of the lake and mountains! Secondly, the service is impeccable, from the welcome to the presentation until the moment of leaving the restaurant. The person serving me had great knowledge of the menu and the wines that accompanied it. Very satisfied. I had a wonderful evening. Thanks Crystal! Regarding the food, first of all, it is a restaurant offering 2, 3 or 5 course menus with wine pairings. The agreement can be modified according to the clients tastes. The presentation of the food is rather rustic while having sophisticated touches. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation and would even say that it is a place not to be missed when visiting Kelowna. I will return without hesitation.
Food, staff and the view were all amazing but somehow I ended up with the birthday gift of food poisoning better luck next time I guess lol!
Terrible server experience
Its very rare to dine a restaurant three times, each about one year apart, and on each occasion have a spectacular experience. Home Block delivers in spades - food, service, view, and even price. It is a true gem in the Okanagan.
The service was very polite and personable, our table had a gorgeous view of the lake and the wine pairings we had complemented our dishes so beautifully! And it feels so good to support a local business that uses local products! Love that! What we didn t love was that the patio has a mesh cover that looks like it barely gets washed with large black splotches all over it. The AAA beef rib was a very small portion and the onion it came with was lack lustre, not worth ordering or the additional $12. It was disappointing that it was just mediocre. We were also served our plates for our mains that were burning hot meaning that they were sitting under the heat lamp for a long time and our server only came by our table a couple of times so we didn t get a chance to say anything. It was a good 3 course meal but it did not live up to expectations. Kid-friendliness: There were lots of kids there which was nice to see!
A group of 3 adults and 2 children went this time. The bill was $240 for 3 burgers and a kids pasta. We shared a bottle of Pinot noir. The burger is a lunch feature off the menu that we had experienced last summer. Last summer it was probably the best burger I ve ever had specially because you can choose the temp of the burger. However this year my brother from out of town was looking forward to try it. To our disappointment the bun had been replaced by a hard bun that had been charcoaled to the point that it was hard and burnt not exactly eatable. They added Brie for cheese and fried onion rings along with bacon. And no the bacon in this case did not make everything taste better. The meat was served well done when we asked for medium. The meat had zero seasoning. No salt or pepper it was blend. The home mayo same thing likely made in house was too runny and no seasoning. Needless to say it was probably the worst meal and overpriced lunch my family and I have experienced. Will not be coming back. The server never came to check on us after our food was deliver. When he decided to check in on us his question was how are the burgers, hitting the spot? Our answer was unanimously NO . And asked if our baby was happy. I said yes, I brought food from home for him . Unfortunate episode that we were later charged full price for it. Either remove the item from their lunch special or perhaps train your servers to explain what will be on the burger. Nothing like last years with a soft brioche bun. Regular American cheese and bacon. Brie does not belong in a burger. In this case trust me the picture makes this burger look way better than what it actually tastes.
We absolutely love Home Block. Whenever we have guests fly into Kelowna we love to take them here. The food, service and views are fantastic. The red and grounds are stunning.
Aidan was an amazing server. Made the experience 5*!!! Steak was flavour full, wines were well paired, and the dessert... My gosh the desserts.... Food
This was the best dining experience I have had in a long time! The 3 course meal with wine pairing was exceptional along with the atmosphere and service. Krystal - thank you for the amazing service and for making this evening a great one!
Probably one of the best dinning experience weve had in awhile. The Burrata/Anchovy appetizer was incredible, Sea Bass was amazing and the Rhubarb desert was absolutely delicious! We have always enjoyed Home Block when we visit Kelowna. Views are amazing as well! Thank you Chef and Staff
One of my favorite places to eat & taste delicious wines! The views & service are always excellent as well. I love the decor. This place checks every box!
We did the 3-course dinner at Home Block during the May Long Weekend and opted in for the wine pairing. Food for the most part are pretty good, high quality & good portion. The toffee pudding was heavenly! Service on the other sider was nearly non existent. Our server was absent 90% of the time, when they present the food, it was just like - Heres the burrata cheese., this is your chardonnay absolutely no explanation of the food/ wine wutsoever. We dined at mission hill the night before, yes, it was $45 more, but with 2 more drink & far better service. This is at most a casual dinning spot, def NOT A FINE DINING spot. With that being said, i found paying $95 for this outrageous. The winery is indeed cute & well designed. If you want to come here for food, will recommend to do just a casual lunch.
I can only remember a handful of times a truly memorable and perfect meal. Home Block is now one of them. The servers were so welcoming to our family with a baby. The lunch was incredibly delicious and unique- I had the mushroom on toast and mafaldine pasta. Generous portions. Wine pairings were fantastic too. Ambience was just stunning without being pretentious Kid-friendliness: Great high chairs and friendly staff. The baby loved their food
How the meat cooked is closed to perfection; no matter we ordered medium rare or medium well, it s cooked absolutely correctly(I travel around the world for food, and I think only three restaurants can prepare the meats as accurate as this for sure we have to exclude Japanese wagyu in this list because that s another level of meat). One of the dessert is also at world class level(the same thing I had in Michelin star restaurant). Just being picky, the source and the side dish of the meat can be improved further, but for sure I understand that might result in higher prices. It s a very pleasant experience, and its value is definitely a 5 star comparing with other famous local restaurants
The food here was amazing! the menu changes every day but I had the salmon option and I have never tasted anything like it! I did not get the wine pairing with it as I just wanted to enjoy a nice vodka soda before we headed to more wineries. The atmosphere almost made you feel like you were in an exclusive club! Our server (whos name I have forgotten) was very friendly, she gave us some good options for things to do in Kelowna! I look forward to heading back some day!
Great food
OK, wow, two five star reviews in two days, but this one was literally one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I ordered the Barazza appetizer, which was a garlic infused olive oil glazed bread that was grilled to a slight char, topped the a single strip of anchovy, baby arugula, some kind of salsa that had the occasional mint leaf, and cucumber and goat cheese. It is simply heavenly. It is a portion for two, but I ate the whole thing myself, couldnt stop. The pork loin saltimbocca was even better, to my surprise. The pork loin has this thin delicate crust of pancetta, whole sage leaf and some kind of glazing sauce. But the bed of creamed spinach even beat the pork for overwhelming umami rich deliciousness that I cant quite put a finger on. The fingerling potatoes were creamy and very slightly sweet with that wonderful aroma of caramelization from the browned surface. I havent gotten to the cheesecake yet, but I also have to call out the wine. Just perfect for the meal and selected by the waitress to perfection. If I could give it six stars, I would.
We were disappointed. We spend over $200 for three course meal and did not enjoy it at all. The location was beautiful, but the food was not good at all.
A very enjoyable dining experience.Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dietary restrictions: I was pleasantly surprised that they contacted me in advance of our dining experience to find out any dietary requirements or allergies. Food : 4/5 |
This place without a doubt has the best food I have ever had in BC. They offer happy hour menu if you don t want to have their 3 course meal (which is a requirement for dinner reservation) but if there is a one time in your life where you want to splurge or ditch your diet, this is the place to do so. Kid-friendliness: It s Canada, I m sure no one will complain about your child but best to have them sit this one out given that it s located in a winery and offers fine dining.
We always make a point of visiting Home Block when we are in Kelowna. The menu is always changing and absolutely delicious. We have never been disappointed with the live fire menu items and the service is exceptional. Cant wait to go back in a few weeks!
Homeblock Restaurant in Kelowna is a culinary gem that consistently delivers exceptional dining experiences. The beef carpaccio is a masterpiece, boasting delicate flavors and expertly balanced textures. The NY striploin is a carnivores dream, cooked to perfection and bursting with rich, savory notes. And the sticky toffee pudding? Pure indulgence. Each bite is a symphony of sweetness and warmth. Moreover, the wine pairings elevate the entire meal to new heights. Each selection complements the dishes flawlessly, enhancing the flavors and creating a truly delectable dining experience. In summary, Homeblock Restaurant not only offers outstanding cuisine but also impeccable wine pairings, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a five-star dining experience in Kelowna.
Home Block is one of Kelownas BEST restaurants. I recommend without hesitation! The vibe is casual but refined, service is super friendly and down to earth, but attentive and skilled. They advertise as casual, and the servers do dress casually as do most of the guests, but it feels special. Dress up if you want! The food is lovely. I had the dine around menu. Everything was delicious, great balance of flavours, acidity, sweetness, depth. Just damn good. The toffee pudding cake was dreamy. The view is stunning. We went on a snowy day, and the dove grey sky mirrored by the steel lake, framed by snow touched trees was very pretty. The decor and ambience invites you to linger. I think its the view, the concrete and windows, high ceilings, but with an old barn vibe with chicken wired around the lights, distressed wide plank walls, rather intimate seating arrangement, that feels cozy even though it seems like it shouldnt be cozy. :) Any way. Love it.
Went for a lunch today with a very limited complicated menu with several off menu items being suggested for the dine around special $45 2 course or $65 with two choices of wine pairings. The open atmosphere was noisy, although the view of the lake was very appealing. I was displeased with the lack of liquid soap in the coed washroom and the one ply t-p. The hostess was happy to take my coat but completely forgot to return my coat after we signed our bill, no idea where to find it or locate staff who were not in the entry area when we departed. There were items not on the menu (recommend a current menu) and with the complicated names of the Okanagan 2 course dining promotion, both of us were not satisfied with the dishes served. The view is still beautiful but with an open cooking area and tall ceilings and little for noise absorption..it resembled a cafeteria sound. Dietary restrictions: potatoes were in dishes you would not expect..like the fish cake trout which was not on the menu Parking: its a steep paved hill up from the main parking lot. There is a higher parking lot which was full but how would one know prior to driving up..turning around tightly and heading back down... Signs would be so helpful at the entry area.
Had our 2 year anniversary and 5 course tasting, which was our standing. Carley served us and needs more than 5 stars for her knowledge on the wines and service.
For the most part, the food was very delicious, but could use some improvements with presentation and some minor details. The crispy squid, lamb appetizer, pork belly and prawns, as well as the sticky toffee pudding were all really enjoyable. However, a few of us ordered the ny strip steak for an extra $15, but taste wise, we didn t think it was worth the extra cost. As well, I had ordered an Apple Mille feuille dessert that came with fennel sprinkled all over, which I thought was a strange choice. In addition, when booking for our larger group, little to no efforts were made to accommodate. Our initial interaction over the phone left us slightly frustrated, only to be followed by a similar interaction in-person. Considering the price, I would expect more thoughtful service. That being said, our wait staff were excellent and made great wine pairing recommendations. As someone who has dinned here a number of times, my recommendation is to come during the lunch service to enjoy the view and more reasonable pricing. Overall, I would suggest trying out Home Block if you re ever visiting the Okanagan! :)
Made a dinner reservation here to celebrate my birthday with my partner. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and inviting, and we loved being able to watch the staff at work in the open kitchen. The staff were all so kind, chatting with us intermittently during our meal. We felt well taken care of without feeling intruded on. Although they left us water carafes on the table, we didnt have to refill our own glasses once! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. No criticisms at all. Our absolute favourite was the sticky toffee pudding, which only lasted us about 5 minutes . I loved the added touch of the birthday candle on my dessert! The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars for atmosphere was that we had a bit of a tough time navigating from the parking lot to the restaurant. There wasnt much lighting and signage; we didnt have too much trouble but I would expect someone with mobility/vision impairment would have a hard time.
The three course wine pairing is simply a culinary masterpiece, a symphony of flavors from the starter through dessert danced on our taste buds. The chefs meticulous attention to detail transformed a simple meal into an extraordinary gastronomic experience, leaving us immensely grateful for the artistry on our plates. Great food great service amazing atmosphere.
This is just 1 mile south of us in a great quiet part of Kelowna and it has expanded dramatically since 2018 to a #1 Five 5 diamond experience. Dinner for two including 3 wine pairings was exceptional with first class hostess Zoe. We will be making this a regular occurrence. Look at signing up as a member of the Wine Club member.. we have found fine vintages since 2014.
Booked for New years Eve supper, wine pairing. Food and service was excellent. The wines were nicely paired. We had a food allergy that the staff expertly managed avoiding any problems which made the evening that much more enjoyable.
One of the worst dining experiences
Called ahead and asked for no pork, first dish had slices of pepperoni on it. Pasta seemed like it was cooked in lemon juice. Kitchen didn t seemed like they cared tonight, our server was great but seemed like there was a lack of communication.
Rude managers. Dry tasteless food. I ve had better dining experiences at Taco Bell to be honest. Not worth the CRAZY money they charge. What an absolute joke.
Pretty disappointed with the overall experience our dinner party had at Home Block. This was my first time dining here and I d been extremely excited to finally try Home Block - Our group had inquired about one of their private dinners for a larger group, and was told it was $130 a person, EVERYTHING included (Gratuity and tax). We knew drinks would be separate and that wasn t an issue. When we got the bill, we were alittle surprised to see that we were quoted a much different price - Sales tax and tip was not included in the $130, so it actually ended up being about $187 a person. We would have been fine with this, had we known in the original quote, but our bill went from being $2000 to almost $3000 because of miscommunication. When we went to clarify with the managers, I can t stress enough how poorly the situation was handled. The manager was EXTREMELY rude to us, even saying I don t know if you ve ever been to a restaurant before, but gratuity is a thing with larger groups. We again, said it wasn t the gratuity that we had an issue with, it was the fact that we were told a much different price in our original booking. The food itself was okay - Not worth $187 a person by any means. Most of the food was bland and the dessert was a soggy pie and some ice cream. The other server (I didn t catch her name) was wonderful and we expressed to her how thankful and kind she was during the experience. I will always support a local business but quite frankly I am left feeling pretty defeated by poor management and communication and would highly suggest supporting a different local business!
Went there for a friends birthday dinner and when booking the reservation we were all told what the price would be per person. When the bill came around, there was a ton of extra expenses on top, and our party ended up spending twice their budget. I understand miscommunications, as myself and our entire party have all been lifelong members of the service industry, but when we asked to speak with a manager to provide feedback on the situation, the conversation went down entirely unprofessional and was extremely condescending. Its been a long time since I have been spoken to that way when trying to give professional, courteous feedback. The server did a fantastic job but the entire experience was absolutely trashed by the horrible unprofessionalism that management displayed. Entirely unimpressed..
My family and I have visited Home Block a few times now and the experience is amazing. The food is always so fresh and seasonal and the wine goes perfectly with our courses. My husband and I are constantly raving and recommending people to visit when they venture to the Okanagan. My husband ranks this as a top 5 meals of all time. (Inc NYC, London, Sydney, Singapore experiences) Kid-friendliness: My son always had an amazing meal! They usually make something special for him.
$190 for JUST food. Thanks for the dry pork and the soggy pie. I ve had better dining experiences at McDonalds to be completely honest. I would have been fine with all of this if the incredibly rude manager with dark long hair wasn t so condescending. I m a local here in Kelowna and I will be sure to tell EVERYONE my experience at this restaurant . Best of luck!
Worst experience. Low quality dry food. If you re going to spend that much money on food I suggest going somewhere else in Kelowna
Had an amazing experience for a corporate event here a few nights ago. The service is simply excellent and the food is very delicious. We chose to go with a five course meal called trust the chef. My only complaint is I wish they did not cover the prime rib with so much horseradish. Really enjoyed the wine selection that was recommend with each course.
The place is lovely as well as service. We had the 3 course set menu for $90.00 and my sister and I. ordered the lemon fillet of sole. I had the beet salad which was very good. But, the dinner portion was the smallest my sister and I have ever seen anywhere. I have been to many winery restaurants and high end restaurants. The 2 tiny little cubes of fish and a few very tiny baby potatoes were very delicious, but honestly, there was barely anything on the plate except for sauce. had the chocolate dessert which was amazing, so I was ok. I asked for an extra side of the potatoes but they said they only had enough for each meal. I guess there is a shortage of fish and baby potatoes. The pork chop ,which my husband ordered ,had no potatoes or other vegetable, only a few onions. I am usually one to embrace a small meal ,as is my sister as we dont like being full . I like to leave room for dessert. But most people would ask where is the fish .If I complain about portion size, 99% of others would. The pino gris and cab sav are very good wines. I do buy them from the liquor store , but until they have a reasonable fish dinner , I wont return.
Oustanding food and wines! Staff was very friendly and kind.
Beautiful view, gorgeous property, decent wine, unfortunately we experienced subpar ( meh ) service and disappointing food.
Took my parents there this past week while they were visiting Kelowna for the first time. Dylan in the tasting room and Karli at Homeblock were both OUTSTANDING, made everybody s night a very special experience and couldn t have asked for better. The food was absolutely incredible (my parents claim top 3 meals ever, this isn t easy to get out of them!), the wine was some of the best anybody there had ever had. From the people, to the food, to the venue, this was a night none of us will ever forget. Thank you!! We will be back!!
Service and food are pretty good. But the host made me feel uncomfortable when I told him I prefer the table in front of the window after he guided me to a corner seat, he said it gonna be dark outside anyways after few mins since it s getting late. But I don t think it s his place to say something like that. I m the customer, and I decide where I want to sit. After I insisted to sit in front of the window, the host asked me to wait 10 mins to clear the table. Once I sit down the host came back again and said you will have bonfire view and it sounds like sarcasm.
Some highs and lows at Home Block. The highs were the apps and the desserts. We started with the calamari and the bruschetta which were both really well done. The chocolate ganache and toffee pudding at the end were delicious. The mains were a little disappointing. The beef was fairly fatty, came cold and the arugula underneath was overpowering. The pasta was good, but the pancetta was overpowered by a very rich sauce. Lastly, the pricing was also a little rich. $95 for a three course meal with wine pairing isn t bad, but all the little add ons can be annoying. $15 more for the beef, $10.5 more for a normal sized glass of wine etc. For a dinner that was double the price of others we had in Kelowna, we would recommend checking out the latter first.
Restaurant in the winery... Beautifully renovated and opened... The food was delicious and the service was great... It was good as a meeting place and good for family gatherings.
The view is incredible. The atmosphere and service is fantastic. The wine and the food are wonderful. Why 4 stars? Well, as a vegan, they had a great option for me, but it was half the size of the other meals, and since it was all vegetables, it already had very few calories. It felt like an appetizer. For $95, I dont expect to have to go somewhere else afterwards to fill myself up. It was a good experience and the food was fantastic, but if I go back, Ill have to eat a meal first so Im not hungry coming out. For the non-vegans out there, I dont think youll have this problem, and Im sure youll have a great experience.
We recently traveled to the Okanagan for a week and before we went I made sure to book the 5 course experience with pairings. It was a good life choice. It started with the restaurant calling me a few days in advance to make sure there was no dietary restrictions or allergies for my wife and I. From there is got even better - the staff were incredible and extremely welcoming, knowledgable, bubbly, and every other adjective you could use. The food was fantastic throughout all 5 courses. From the buratta made in house, to black pudding better than any I had in Scotland, to the best gnocchi Ive ever had, to the 60 day dry aged tenderloin. It was all a hit and I left fat and satisfied. Definitely recommend trying the DeHart and Home Block Pinot Noir. Probably the two best glasses Ive been had of it.
Fantastic service, cuisine and overall experience. As Kelowna locals, Home Block has emerged as one of our go-to for a splendid (if not spendy) meal. Would highly recommend above almost any other restaurant in the area.
It was an awesome dining experience at Home Block. We went there in late April and it s a bit of last minute decision because it s recommended by Mission Hill winery tour guide. We were not disappointed. The service was superb and food was great!! The only complaint is all the meal portions are huge!! But can I even complain about that?! Lol. I ll definitely go back again.
This is probably my favourite winery restaurant in Kelowna. I was truly captivated by the entire experience. The ambiance, scent, deco, and overall atmosphere perfectly suited my taste. The location itself offered stunning views that added an extra touch of charm to our dining experience. Our servers expertise in wines was evident as she guided us through the diverse selection, demonstrating a deep understanding of different types and seasonal variations.
I have lived in the Okanagan for many years (Peachland for the last 20) and have not driven down Lakeshore in a long time. Stopped in on a whim to have a glass of wine and bite to eat with my daughter and was blown away by the beautiful venue and also by the level of service we received from Crystal in Home Block Restaurant. She was so friendly, personable and knowledgeable about the wine and food offerings! I would absolutely recommend and am already booking a table to go back for dinner with my family.
Great 2 course lunch with wine pairing! Really delicious and fresh food using local ingredients! Great service and beautiful view over the lake. Well worth a visit as the actual buildings are really lovely architecturally and designed!
Great views, good wine and decent ambiance but below average service and food. Appetizers were decent but the mains and desserts had no real flavours. The menu changes often and the 3 course meal we ordered was disappointing. Limited options for main course. Nobody came by to check how the food was tasting. Even after we let the serving crew and manager know about the food, they kept saying we don t hear this feedback and acted like they wanted me to accept that the problem was with us and not with the food. I realized they didn t want to do anything about the situation so we left after paying. Left minimum gratuity but don t think they deserved any. Will not recommend for dinner.
The ambience at this place is wonderful! The staff are supportive, happy, and provide excellent service. Wines are very tasty! Foods quality was great as well. However, the dishes may not have the special garnish seen in the pictures. One point of confusion was that the price is $55 per person, excluding any additional charges for the wines you order. This led to a misunderstanding, and we ended up paying double what we initially calculated for each of us. There is a sense of things coming and leaving quickly on your table, creating a slight feeling of rush. Despite this, overall, it is definitely worth giving this place a try.
Three of us ordered the specials, croquette and pork confit recommended by our wonderful server, Jen, as well as the ragu. All the dishes were very good to excellent. These were paired with exceptional estate reisling, very good estate merlot, and below average estate pinot noir. The highlights of our visit were the friendly service from Jen, the incredible patio ambiance and views, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Interest fact: this winery was recently acquired by the Mission Hills owner.
Great food. Knowledgeable and polite staff. Amazing views of the valley too - we were there for 2 hours and watched a storm start come up from Penticton, hit us (hard), continue up towards Vernon, and we were left with beautiful sunny skies and a few rainbows. The food is pricey...$250 for 2 people, with a couple glasses of wine...but for a special occasion dinner, with delicious flavourful food, really nice wine, great ambiance, and gorgeous views of the valley, its worth it.
Food was awesome and the outdoor dining was nice for the summer. Sleek modern building. View of the lake although not waterfront.
The food was so good. We did the lunch 2 course menu. Very impressed that the menu changes every day and that everything is locally sourced and paired with a wine. The service was so good as well. The waitress was very attentive and it was so nice to see the kitchen working harmoniously. Ambience was gorgeous with a phenomenal view. I will definitely be putting this on my must visit list again and again Dietary restrictions: very accommodating of dietary restrictions
Great portions, great taste. stunning view.. prices is very reasonable for the high quality experience!
Wow what a delicious lunch. Our server, Will, made the experience even more delightful. He was so attentive, friendly and helpful. He really made the experience for us. Make a rezo as the manager seemed irritated we didn t have one. The downside was our bottle of rose was $85 compared to $40 in the tasting room. Seemed like quite a price gouge for 10 steps away.
I loved my lunch. The food was excellent, service was always with a smile and a beautiful atmosphere. I cant say enough about the delicious food. I had the brisket grilled sandwich. Omg! The salmon cakes were outstanding too. Just go there, you wont be disappointed.
The food was not that great. The beef was too salty and the dessert (raspberry and cream) was so plain really . Menu was expensive. We think is really overrated. Service was too slow. my husband was getting upset already. saving grace was the view. Sunset view was great
Nice restaurant with nice views of Kelowna. Starter is extremely impressive with the assorted deep fried fish and vegetables. Bruschetta was one of the best I have ever tried, and led to excitement toward the main. The mains while it s still great, it s lacking a bit of surprise element like the starters did. I find the steak has a bit too strong of the char flavour to my liking. Cod was good.
Pretty disappointing to be honest - such a beautiful restaurant but the food was below average and over priced. With tip the tasting menu with premium pairings was over $200 and the food was uninspiring, dull, lacking balance and overpriced. Much better dishes available for a much better price at a multitude of other wineries in the okanagan.
Really amazing restaurant. Sit out on the patio, if you can - the views are beautiful. The food and wine pairings are awesome, and the sticky toffee pudding is ridiculously good. Our server was amazing as well. She was friendly, smart, and really elevated our experience.
We dined as a family of four with 2 children. The restaurant was very modern with a fantastic view. Food was absolutely delicious especially the flat iron. Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.
Wonderful experience at Home Block. The staff were very accommodating of our large party and made us feel comfortable. Our server, Holly, was exceptional - she was warm and thoughtful. Part of our group had to leave early, so she brought a nicely-packed to-go bag with the desserts the moment they had to leave. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food was fantastic. I had the burrata with peaches and grilled focaccia, which was perfect. The steaks were good, but over-seasoned in some areas. Our group raved about the sticky toffee pudding - a memorable finish to a delicious meal.
Beautiful, attached to the winery restaurant, overlooking Okanagan Lake. It offers a wine pairing dinner menu, highly recommend checking it out!
If I could give a 3.5 thats what I would be doing. The ambience, the architecture, the location is flawless. The food is clearly made with good ingredients, but the dishes themselves could be improved. The service, left alot to be desired. For a place that contends to be called a fine dining establishment, the level of service is far below what you would expect at a common low tier frantise type establishment. For example, my beverage was forgotten about and when reminded not the slightest apology was offered. The server did not check up on on quality of food after it was brought to us. The servers clearly didnt understand their beverage menu and didnt know what basic spirits they offer are. The biggest issue of all is that all of these service deficiencies wouldnt stand out as much if the overall attitude if personal was more personable and human, instead of slightly arrogant and a touch condescending. So really, this place will never be a fine establishment unless these glaring deficiencies are addressed. Take notice management.
I had the pleasure of dining at Home Block at CedarCreek Estate Winery, and I must say that our experience was elevated to a whole new level thanks to our server, Will. Not only was the food exquisite, but Wills exceptional service truly made our visit unforgettable. His attention to detail, warm hospitality, and extensive knowledge of the menu and wines added a delightful dimension to our evening. Wills passion for his work and dedication to ensuring our satisfaction shone brightly throughout our meal. I can confidently say that he is a true asset to Home Block, and I look forward to returning soon for another exceptional dining experience, thanks in large part to Will. Five stars, without a doubt!
I really enjoyed my meal last year at Home Block before unfortunately this year was very disappointed. All around the meal was under seasoned. My cucumber and heirloom salad as lacklustre and the fish was over cooked and bland in the main course. I did really enjoy the gluten free vegan tart. The server seemed very unimpressed when my sister requested a new glass of wine when there was three flys in it. The views are amazing but unfortunately we can t justify the cost of going back.
I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this restaurant!
We had an amazing anniversary dinner here. The staff was very attentive. We booked an early dinner was able to get a patio seating. The bruschetta and squid was an amazing start paired with their sparking Rosé. For mains we got the steak and the duck, both cooked to perfection. For end the meal we had their cream puff and sticky toffee pudding which surprised me in a good way, it was light and not overly sweet. Will definitely come back!
Below average experience in every way, awful wine for a dining experience in a winery, below average food, and the most disappointing service we ve ever received. Just go somewhere else as there are many amazing wineries nearby.
For the price the food was good, but not exquisite. The service was fairly bad. Our waitress was pleasant but we were often left waiting between courses and had to ask for our bill several times. The setting is amazing and I am going to give it another shot in the summer months. Recently had a chance to eat at one of the Michelin starred restaurants in Vancouver (Pidgin) for roughly the same price and that was a dramatically better experience that I would recommend to anyone who like spending money on food.
Beautiful room, and grounds. Fantastic service. The food on the other hand, is for rich kelowna people who think their money makes them have taste when they clearly don t. With rustic banquet style plating, and very basic flavour profiles the execution was still very lacklustre. At a 95$ price point for the tasting menu the main dish was dated like grits and collared greens from a road side diner just stacked sloppily on top of each other. Texturally one noted, and no single flavour came through -just slop. The steak was good , nothing special. Just zero razzle dazzle, zero oomph, utterly un memorable food, riding on the coat tails of the name of the establishment , which really sucks because the kitchen staff looked like some heavy hitters and I m sure they are capable of so much more. I respect that the clientele probably holds you back from being daring in any way, but some effort to impress can still be made. I normally wouldn t write a review but this place is meant to be the best place to go, I was really excited to treat my girlfriend to a nice date and at a price point of 330$ for 2 people , I definitely should have taken her somewhere else . Sorry , but it s the truth. Again the service from the first step in the door was exceptional. Our server was fantastic.
Great experience overall. The restaurant is a touch too modern in decor for our taste but the open kitchen and excellent food, wine and service more than make up for that. Food Portions seem small at first but theyre rich in flavor so you will feel satisfied when you leave. Im a meat and potatoes kind of guy but the menu strikes a perfect balance between artisan/unconventional and traditional/hearty. Pino Grigo was excellent and paired well with the Seabass special I had. The chicken my partner had was as tender and flavourful as you could possibly imagine. The cocktails are even excellent which is something you dont always get from a Vinyard restaurant. Lastly, Matt our server was very friendly and provided prompt service with helpful insight into what was on the menu. Avacado and citrus starter salad was also a hit as was the Calamari side. Will definitely be back
Wine was tasty and views outstanding. The feature of the day was corned beef sandwich and wasn t impressive at all. The bread was burnt like really burnt. Pub food at winery prices.
We recently visited and have been talking about it ever since! The food was great, the timing of service was incredible, and a couple of the wine pairings blew our minds! However, we didnt feel that the cattleguard was very pedestrian friendly...4/5 stars Update - We did see the door to the walkway besides the cattleguard, but unfortunately it was locked from the outside!
Incredible food and service. The staff is always pleasant and attentive. We have a great time every time we visit. You can tell the chef puts a lot of time into curating the menu - and he never disappoints. Seriously. Try everything. I ve finished every plate I ve had. You will not be disappointed! Love this place. :)
Every time we have been here the experience has been amazing. Even came in on a random lunch and the Chef cooked my father in law a steak that wasnt on the menu to make him happy. Did the Paired Experience with 5 courses and it couldnt stop thinking about the food and wine for days after. Highly recommend eating here especially after a tasting at Cedar Creek next door.
Absolutely amazing
Awesome experience! One of if not the best meals I have ever had in the Okanogan.
Gorgeous setting. Seems no expense was spared on the location and interior of Home Block restaurant. Recommend sitting on the patio with a glass of rosé and some snacks. We went all in on the premium tasting menu but did not have a premium experience. We were seated next to the pass and heard chef yelling at staff for the first 40 minutes and servers were jammed up next to us trying to get orders out. Didn t get any staff attention for 15 minutes after being seated. Waited 30 minutes for 1st course and 15 for 2nd course. Settled down after that but we would not recommend spending $$$$ on tasting menu. Our expectations were high and they were not quite met.
Travis took such good care of us. Everything was delicious
Wine paring 3 courses. Large course well paired. Enjoyable and kind, considerate staff. Dealt well with my celiac wife. Impressive.
I wanted to take the time to thoroughly review the restaurant over a couple different experiences. Positives: - The staff is absolutely incredible, over and above friendly, accommodating, and made the experience(s) memorable. - Fast, responsive service - Breathtaking grounds and view - Superior wine selection - Knowledgeable all around - Fresh farm to table, open concept kitchen Critical: - Our first visit was for Valentines Day and we were blown away by the experience. The pairings and food was next level. Each bite was exciting and elevated. We waited for a special occasion to justify the pricey course meal, we couldnt wait to get a full experience. - Based on our Valentines experience and price for the meal, we went in with high expectations. I had the beet salad (which was OK, but more or less just tasted like it was dressed with olive oil/salt/ pepper), Veg Main (again, this was OK... but was cooked brocollini, artichokes, and potatoes with basic seasoning), then finished with a mango coconut dessert (which was more or less a yogurt cup). Then my partner started with avocado toast (again.. it was OK but our daily breakfast has more flavour), followed by the steak (this was one of the best cooked steaks we have had in the Okanagan, unfortunately we were insistent on no pungent horseradish on the dish... which was forgotten. They were very apologetic and rectified the matter, but I finished my main before it was corrected meaning we did not enjoy our fancy meal together), then finished with the white ganache dessert (tasty, but off putting consistency). Overall, we know that the head chef and staff are talented and love that they use farm to table ingredients. It was disappointing that there wasnt a level of elevation or wow factor to our special occasion meal. Perhaps it was the particular menu that evening, but all courses were underwhelming. Our meal was $220+ which in our case we save for special occasions and really want to treat ourselves, it unfortunately was disappointing that the flavour was lacking and we couldnt fully enjoy our experience.
On the money again! We were there last year and had a great meal and service. Today we went again for the pairing menu at lunch. It was busy and a beautiful day. Firstly, the reception and service was great, our server Andi was professional without being pretentious and anticipated needs rather than us hailing down someone. The meal was complex and flavourful, worthy of a Michelin star. The wine pairing was very good and obviously someone put some thought into the selections. The icing on the cake (or sticky toffee pudding!) was the setting and lake views. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Fantastic food experience, great wines too!
Beautiful view. Food was good but expensive.
Excellent wine pairings
View was amazing, stylish clean restaurant. Wine was great. Food was OK but had high expectations for the price point. Carrots were good but there was a bit of debris from the open fire in mine which was off putting when I bit into it and the steak was very chewy and could use seasoning. Might be difficult to gauge cooking level with the fire. Bit underwhelming for the price. Pudding dessert was tasty. Not sure its worth the $100 for dinner, might prefer to stick with the wine tasting.
Where do I start? Our table was on the outdoor deck, the view can t be beat. Wine paring and food was amazing. Service from the entire team was outstanding. When we were being seated the lady that was taking us to our table stopped and said if we just wait a minute, I can get you a better table. She didn t disappoint. From start to finish top notch. Best dining experience in the Kelowna!
Great food great view
Went to Home Block for lunch, opted for the 2-course lunch with wine pairings, and was not disappointed. The food and wine are truly outstanding. They say wine should taste like the region its from, and I definitely sensed British Columbia from both the wine and the food. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and if the weather is nice Id highly recommend sitting on the covered terrace because the views are unmatched. I also have to commend the waitstaff on their promptness and politeness.
Poor service attitude, starting price on the floor, and the waiter ordering food does not prompt the food price.
Spectacular! Always such a treat. The views of the OKGN...the wine...amazing food and wonderful service! A definite 10/10!
Had a wonderful lunch here. The food, especially the trout, was spot on and the wine pairings worked quite well. Deer had come by to visit during our lunch as well.
TLDR: Don t book this location for a special occasion later in the evening unless you re looking for a specific view, and ready to be disappointed by the hit or miss service. They won t explain the fact you can order drinks by the glass for the same price compared to the fixed dinner menu with tastings, probably because they want to upsell you. Also, don t expect to receive the kind of service you would typically expect from restaurants at this price point. If anything, expect to have your food taken away if you step out momentarily if it s late in the evening. Absolutely ridiculous. The food was fresh, portions were more than adequate, wouldn t say it s the best I ve ever had in this calibre but it was fairly good tasting. The overall dining experience from the beginning was welcoming with our hostess at first; this restaurant was booked for our anniversary trip, however, things took a quick turn with our server later on towards the end. Throughout our dining experience, our waiter (the male with a tattoo on his left forearm and potentially a Quebecois or European accent) was checking in on us, refilling our water, and ensuring that we had everything we needed. Later on in the evening, after I finished my dessert on my plate, as my partner briefly stepped away to use the washroom after only eating half of her dessert, the waiter came by with the bill which was completely understandable considering it was 10:30pm and it was getting late. As I pulled out my credit card to pay, without asking me if she was done with her dessert, he literally took my empty plate and stacked it on top of my partner s half eaten dessert, and proceeded to hand me the POS terminal. I was pretty shocked at first, but I didn t say anything to him and still left him a generous tip, although in hindsight I probably shouldn t have, but impacting the other staff over one waiter s mistake didn t seem reasonable either. My partner was extremely upset at me afterwards and was wondering where her dessert had gone when she came back. I had to explain what had happened to her half eaten dessert, and that I didn t have a chance to stop the waiter from essentially rendering her dessert inedible by stacking my plate on top of her s within two seconds without a single word. I m very surprised that this restaurant would allow for such unprofessionalism, considering that it s common courtesy to ask somebody if they re done with their dish or if they d like some more time instead of rendering it inedible because you potentially want to go home earlier given the later hours. If you re wanting to come here because of an anniversary trip or special event, do NOT come here during the later hours of the evening for dinner, unless you want to gamble your experience on a server that will be providing you an unforgettable positive or negative experience. Perhaps it s getting late and some staff don t want to stay too late. It s evident that not every single individual here is poorly trained and lacks basic consideration for others given simple observations left and right, however, why would you want to spend your hard earned money here only for a small, easily avoidable situation to occur and ruin your experience? In the past, when I ve dined here each year for the last few years and had their food along with the wine and food pairing experiences next door in the summers, the experiences were always fabulous which made me revisit annually. Now, I can only say with this declining experience, that you should ONLY come here if you re looking for a view, but be sure to have zero expectations in place for the service you ll be receiving otherwise you ll face disappointment. Why come here when you can go to other wineries such as Quails Gate or Mission Hill which are close by, offer similar price ranges for equally delicious food and wine pairings, have beautiful views, but do not miss the mark when it comes to providing basic dining consideration to their paying clients? Not impressed at all, I would not recommend this restaurant or winery anymore to anybody I know.
This is no doubt a 5 star restaurant dining experience, however... my friend fell riding her bike across the deer cattle guard and had her leg caught and her bike on top of her. There is a pedestrian staircase to the left of the driveway leading straight to the bike rack which is the furthest lot away from the restaurant - this does not help someone with a heavy ebike and certainly gives easy hidden access to the bike rack if someone has the intention of stealing bikes. For this reason, I would not cycle there again in the near future. I am unsure why they would have decided that this made sense but any cyclist I know would be very hesitant to leave their expensive bikes on the furthest lot from the restaurant. Having done much cycling in the West Kelowna, East Kelowna, south Okanagan and Naramata wineries, all the bike racks are very close - actually the best parking spots in the lot as it should be. I think they could do better as there is lots of space up top. Having said that the menu, food and service is exceptional and I highly recommend it
Excellent food, excellent service. $70 for an amazing 3 course dinner is amazing. Highly recommended and will make this a staple for our Kelowna trips.
Views here is amazing. However, $500 for two person is definitely over priced. My advice, do not order the Platinum 5 Course option, it will let you disappoint with its meal and wine.
Platinum Chef s dinner 5 courses with wine pairing. We were amazed at the beauty of the location, the organization and friendliness of the staff (Matt was great!), and above all the overall experience. Not a budget dinner by any means, but an unforgettable memory thank you!
Our Server wasn t attentive at all. She didn t check on us at all. We ordered side of truffle fries and she forgot to place an order. We got our soggy $16 fries after finished main meal. Other than that venue is good my duck breast was good too.
truly a superb evening Zoé, succulent dishes with matching wines. Thanks to the chef, his brigade and the service staff..
We had the 5 course pre-fixed menu with wine parings. Amazing pairings, great service, Hone Block never disappoints!!!
I totally not recommend this restaurant 0 customer service Kid-friendliness: 0 customer service
Had the 5 course tasting menu for two. $210 for dinner plus wine pairings for a total of $390 Ambience: 5/5 you instantly felt the energy and focus of the kitchen team and front of house team upon entry. The view speaks for itself and the decor is distinct yet doesn t take away from the setting. Food & wine: 3.5/5 the effort was there but the execution felt lazy or rushed at parts. Trying too hard to be different failed with adding anchovies to a mozzarella and tomato dish which only took away from the fresh simplicity of the ingredients. Triangulari pasta with morels was excellent in flavor and texture. Undercooked beans and potatoes in two of the 3 dishes was distracting and disappointing. Ribeye was extremely fatty with an over battered oyster mushroom that added nothing to the dish. Dessert claimed to be a brown butter mouse but couldn t even hold to a spoon, let alone it was a shared dessert - lazy. Wines were well paired yet just ok - nothing to write home about. The estate Chardonnay that wasn t part of the 5 course menu was excellent. Lightly oaked, buttery and balanced - worth taking home a bottle or two. Service: bartender was authentic and a pleasure to be around. Dinner service staff was a bit awkward and didn t seem to care for feedback. Some of the staff that delivered wine/dishes were new and knew nothing about what they had in hand when asked. All staff seemed to believe they were serving top notch wine and food and perhaps that creates a culture that s too proud and not open to feedback or they re used to diners that are less critical. When compared to a restaurant like Published, recently awarded best restaurant in Canada, whose 10 course tasting menu is $150 pp there s is a huge contrast to the culinary experience, expertise and value. Overall some things were great. I would consider returning because of the ambience but would definitely just order a la carte. There s a lot of potential here and could be hitting all the notes once things are more refined.
I really love the creative menu and the atmosphere dining there. It was a very pleasant experience. Will definitely come back again
Fantastic view and amazing food. Highly recommend the experience.
Very nice place . Food is delicious and fresh. Wine taste is amazing. Location and architecture of the spot is top notch. I will come back there in next occasion.
What a beautiful place. From the dining area the kitchen staff are in full array. A very well organized, maintained, and beautiful scene. From the balcony where we sat, you could see across the Okanogan lake to the West Bank. A magnificent view. If our server, Carrie, is any example of the high level in quality the serving staff maintain, the restaurant is represented in the highest standards. I spoke with Carrie for a moment on our way out. It is obvious the staff is very connected to each other. What a wonderful environment that must be to work in. The menu is world class. I am told that it changes often, based on the availability of fresh and quality ingredients. Most of which is handpicked on the property from their own organic garden.
Delicious wine and food!! Good portion to! Kids really enjoyed their pasta! Such a great vibe! Will definitely be back :)
A top tier delight. Ill be thinking about this experience for a long time.
Our server Kerri was great! We decided to do the 5 course experience and I forgot to take picture of the wines
We took the five courses platinium experience. So amazing. I really recommand it. All the wine and food was really well paired and so tastefull. I have only good words for my night there and Ill come back for sure. The view was a breathtaking experience and the service was exceptional with really interesting explanations. Thank you so much. You made my day!
Awful service would not recommend, deserves 0 stars. I booked a lunch reservation here for 230, I was going to be 10min late and tried 3x to call the restaurant to tell them so and there was no answer. I booked on OpenTable, and in the notes it explicitly states that there is a 15min grace period. My friends and I got there at 240 and waited for the host, no one came to greet us. Multiple employees that were standing behind the counter saw us and ignored us. The hostess finally came 15 min later and told us to wait while she went and hugged and chatted with her friend for 5min. She then told us they couldn t serve us lunch because the kitchen closes right at 2:30. Who takes lunch reservations for 2:30, but closes the kitchen at 2:30? So ridiculous, would never come here again. Very pretentious hostess, like relax you re a waitress not the Queen. Servers clearly need training since the majority of your negative reviews are regarding service. The one review about about your racist server is absolutely astonishing and disgusting.
A great winery and restaurant. 2 course lunch - Food and wine pairings were excellent. Local ingredients, attentive/friendly servers and beautiful view.
Wonderful service, food and experience. We celebrated a birthday and the service and quality of food was impeccable. Steak and duck cooked to perfection. The calamari is one of the best appetizers I have had. The decor and atmosphere is extremely classy . Will definitely have dinner again here when visiting Kelowna.
Vegetarian options: They had one Parking: A drop off area and then lower level parking Wheelchair accessibility: Flat drop off area
Wine pairing is the best way to enjoy both their beautiful wines and excellent culinary skill at the same time. And that view? Make sure to reserve the patio sitting and check the weather and time of sunset!
Always love coming back here everytime I m in Kelowna! Creative menu, immaculate execution and attentive service.
After doing a wonderful tasting this afternoon we called when we got home to see if we could get in for dinner tonight. They were able to get us in. Dinner was delicious. We had the 3 course with the wine pairing. They had a few additional items not on the menu which was great as being a pescatarian there is only so many things I would have. They had options to modify my meal as well as I wasn t a fan of olives or squid oil. It was all delicious. Home Block never disappoints! Would highly recommend.
Its delicious. I tried the fried mushrooms, beef and fish in the lunch set. The texture and taste are great.
We came up for the wine paired 3 course dinner and absolutely loved our meal. 6 of us went together and the service and food were great. We had the burrata and prosciutto to start for the table- it was delicious! I chose the feature starter which was a beef carpaccio and then the bass for dinner while others had the artichokes to start and the duck for dinner. Overall it was a delightful evening with great wine suggestions and pairings and delicious food. This is our third time coming to Home Block and it certainly won t be our last. The only downside was the tasting room and retail options were closed due to the time. We finished dinner around 7:30pm. It would have been nice to get a bottle or two that we had tried during dinner to bring home with us.
We had an incredible experience at the Home Block restaurant. A special thank you to Jordan for helping us coordinate our large reservation and help ensure everything went perfectly. The food was amazing, the service is always great, and our company spent a fantastic evening celebrating & reflecting upon another year. Thank you Home Block! We could not recommend them more for a special occasion, or simply a delicious meal in a stunning location.
I had an excellent 3 course meal here. The wine pairings were great. I have to say the salad I had was probably one of the best Ive had in a long time. The service was good, and the restaurant itself is well designed and looks great, minus the strange giant painting of a yellow rubber ducky. Strange selection of art.
We celebrated our anniversary here last night and had an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. Our server Karli made us feel so welcomed right from the get go! It was clear that Karli was very busy but never once made us feel as though she was too busy serve us. Karli kept up conversation and gave interesting facts about the food and wine throughout the entire dinner service. She was extremely personable. It also helps that the food was a solid 11/10. VERY delicious. You definitely have to try the burrata! Thank you so much for making our anniversary one to remember!
This restaurant never disappoints. We are CedarCreek Platinum members and always feel valued and pampered, be it a wine tasting or dining. The food is always creative and delicious. This last year we have had Carly as our server and I hope we always get her. She goes over and above expectations to give us a great dining experience. Thank you Home Block and all who work there, but especially the Chef and Carly.
Amazing birthday celebration last night at Home Block! It was our first time at the renovated restaurant and it did not disappoint! Beautiful surroundings, fabulous food and wonderful service made the night super special. The only negative was the group of Calgary Karens waiting to be seated ahead of us who aggressively insisted that they ALL were exempt from having to wear a mask and that it was illegal for the hostess to ask them for any proof. The hostess graciously seated them to avoid a confrontation but their disregard for health regulations continued as they crowded around another table of guests later on. I feel for business establishments having to try to uphold health regulations in the face of entitled behaviour such as this. Not an easy task.
The food was exceptional and the wines were just as a dream! We enjoyed each and every minute of it.
Great location. Great wine. Great food. Must try!
Absolutely amazing meal at Home Block. Have tried the Terroir to Table experience where each dish is paired with the perfect wine. Highly recommend this option, as you not only get to have an incredible meal you get to sample the top Ceder Creek wines in the process. Each pairing comes with 3oz of wine with the possibility to upgrade to 6oz.
Great place. Amazing atmosphere and food, lovely wine
Cedar creek Home block was the first winery we had dinner at. We were fortunate to be sat out on the patio with gorgeous sunset views. The views were amazing. Great service. Excellent food. The wine pairings works quite well. We were very happy with our experience. Social distancing in effect but not masks. Five star experience.
Save yourself the money and the time and either go to Quails Gate or Terrace. Food quality was mediocre at best and the price was 2 times more than the other top restaurants in the area. Of the 5 courses, 3 of them had pork based ( pork loin, bacon, pancetta) with no other choices. We are a fit couple and dont overeat but walked away hungry. The insult on the wound was when I saw on the bill that wine pairings for our 5 course tasting menu were extra.
Best winery fine dining in Kelowna
Great view. Bad experience, will not be returning. Visited the restaurant based on the Visa Infinite program, which states that some canapés compliments of the chef would be served. Turned out to be a miniature smashed potatoe with provolone cheese. However it was not complimentary and the additional charge was $4 per guest. Wine pairing was also subpar as the team failed to mention an additional charge for each wine with the set dinner. We wouldnt have minded paying an extra $17 per guest for the wine pairing had we received a notice that it was on top of the $85 set menu. Pork rib was delicious, pork belly skin inedible. The skin of the pork belly was so tough it felt as though we were eating cement. For dessert the sticky toffee pudding felt amateur. As though it came from a box. Overall, dining while seated at the outdoor section during sunset was beautiful but very hot. I say: anticipate a good experience with okay food, and additional charges for complimentary items when the bill arrives.
Great experience, great service and great food & wines pairings
The steak was amazing! And Ive never had anything like the toffee pudding before. Highly recommend.
I came here for the first time this past weekend and it was an incredible experience. The dishes were delicious, rich, and filling; the wine was paired perfectly, and the service by Holly and everyone else is unmatched. Ill definitely be recommending this place to everyone I know!
If you are in Kelowna, Home Block is a must go! Everything our group had was so delicious. Amazing spot to have lunch or dinner, really great service and good vibes. Barrata was phenomenal! Stick Toffee Pudding was also an amazing way to end our meal.
The set menu lunch was phenomenal, would highly recommend the trout!
One of the best meal we had for a while. We will for sure book Home block next time we come to the area. Excellent food, good wine pairing and great service. We had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
Great meal! Alex was an awesome host! He was knowledgeable and patient with our questions. Will return!
Nice building and location. I requested a patio table via OpenTable and we were sat inside without any feedback, although the reservation was a week earlier from Germany (where I live) and there were unoccupied tables outside which remained unoccupied over the duration of our visit. No feedback via email prior signaled a lack of communication and a personal touch would have been appreciated. Service was a little uncoordinated (a second waiter asked 10 minutes later if we re ready to order even though the order went in). Food quality is okay, but nothing I couldn t whisk up in my kitchen with relative ease. Wine portions (3 ounces) are not generous to any extent. Overall the experience was okay but didn t deliver what I was expecting. Value for money was quite poor and I was hoping for a higher caliber delivery.
Last night we experienced an incredible, delectable dinner at Home Block. There were four of us and everyone loved their three course meal. Of special note was the prosciutto that came with a starter, the heirloom tomato salad and the flank steak - delicious! What enhanced our great experience even more was our server Jenn. Her bubbly, friendly personality just set the tone for a fantastic evening.
My wife and I drove 40 minutes for the small bites menu. The website advertises that the menu is available from 3:00 - 4:30pm, walk-ins only (no reservations). When we arrived at 4:05pm today to a restaurant that was no more than 50% full, we were told that they couldnt take us because the kitchen was behind and the chefs needed to take a break at 4:30pm. When we pointed out to the hostess that the website says it is walk-ins only, that the restaurant was half empty and that we had driven 40 minutes, her reply was, you did exactly the right thing, but the kitchen is too busy. We heard her saying the exact same thing to others being turned away behind us, so obviously a well-rehearsed line. If the restaurant doesnt want people to come as directed on their website, they should change the website. Dont waste peoples time.
Awful experience. My wife and I are very familiar with nice restaurants and I have never been told at the front that my meal would cost a certain amount or forced to carry my own menu to the table. I was targeted because Im black. Nobody else was told the price at the door including my wife who is Caucasian and arrived after I did. She was shocked with the front desk actions and told me that they didn t say that to her and it was unfair and rude. This should never happen, because people who are coming to this kind of restaurant are prepared to spend and the color of their skin shouldnt matter...very very sad experience and weve decided to never go back again. I was humiliated by this when they told me the cost at the door and I could see other people watching and making comments about it.
Impeccable service, thank you Holly. Superb dining experience, thank you kitchen.
Great menu. Changes all the time with very interesting and delicious farm to table foods. Chickens, cows & vegetable garden right on premises! Can t beat it!
Architecturally stunning restaurant set in the Hillside over Lake Okanagan. The menu is always changing to reflect the best food of the season. Thankfully the deep fried squid is always on the menu, because it s the best I ve ever had.
After our wine tasting we did dinner last night. All four of us had great options including a vegan dinner setup for our friend. Applies dinner and dessert were all fantastic! Very unique flavours and a nice change from the big name restaurants in town.
Great view, good service, good wine, mediocre food. We were expecting a good fine-dining experience but it was a disappointment in terms of food taste, there is nothing special with their food, if taste of food is the most important thing for you, you can find many more tasty food options in Kelowna. But the view is hard to beat on a sunset time, it was magnificent. As expected their wine is very good, because its their main job as a vineyard. Service was really good, all service personal was so kind and they were working in a harmony.
This is one of the best restaurants in Kelowna by far. Excellent location and ambiance and great food and service!
Dinning on the patio with the amazing view! Wine pairing 3 services is very good and staff is super friendly. The toffee pudding was the desert highlight FYI :)
This place was absolutely Beautiful. However the food was an absolute disappointment, the cauliflower soup tasted like vinagre and I could not eat it, the mushroom main was way too spicy.. I also couldn t eat it.. left the restaurant hungry and extremely upset as I had high expectations
Let me start off with saying that this restaurant deserves 5 stars for not only the food but also the service. Travis was a gem and also the lovely lady who helped us take pictures. (unfortunately I didnt catch her name) My table of 4 went with the share everything tactic and for starters we ordered the crispy squid, butter lettuce salad, and burrata. For entrees, we got the steak, the fish, porchetta and mushroom. Everything was special, Everything was tasty, and Everything was complex in the best way. The wine pairing was a nice touch (not a big wine drinker so unfortunately I cant comment much on it) and last but not least the dessert. That sticky toffee pudding.... oh my stars. Please do yourself a favor and just get it!
Super nice restaurant, delicious food and a good menu selection. The wines were perfectly matched to the food and the service was super good. What pleased us most was that everything here was so child-friendly. We will definitely come back on our next vacation
Home Block is the best thing to happen to the Upper Mission area of Kelowna in a long while. The food is upscale, the view is magnificent, and the staff and service are friendly to visitors and locals. Try the Burrata paired with one of their Chardonnays or the Muscat bubbly.
Good food. Good atmosphere. Very nice view. Good service. We had the 2-course lunch. Mushroom on toast and special spot prawns on toast for 1st course. Then we had the salmon and the burger fkr the 2nd course.
Amazing food and great location !! Highly recommend it you are in the area. We tried the Burrata, cacio e pepe & crispy squid and they were all outstanding.
Excellent meal with wonderful pairings. The venue is beautiful and in the time of Covid, I felt very comfortable with the protocols. The server, Carly, explained how it was going to work, and that she will sanitize her hands when she comes to our table. She also asked if we would prefer her to wear the mask. Given we were on the patio, and the distancing measures she explained, we were comfortable without her mask. It s a great experience, beautiful venue.
While the servers were friendly and the service was good, being forced to do the tasting menu ruined the experience for me. Not only was dinner expensive because of being forced to do the three course tasting menu, but the wine pairing of my first course was not a good match. I found my main too rich and the portions too large despite being assured prior to our arrival that the portions were small and that three courses would not be too much food. Maybe I would have enjoyed the meal more if ordering just one course was an option, or if smaller portions were available.
We did the wine tasting, excellent experience, beautifully view, good wine and good attention. Recommended for lovers of experiencing the taste of wine
Fantastic meal with a lovely view of the lake. My family and I did the $60 course meal and ordered desserts. I did find a strand of short hair in my salad which I pointed out to my server. She didn t offer any apology but simply took the dish away. Another server promptly brought me a fresh new salad and extended a sincere apology for the incident. I found it odd that my server did not say anything though when I first pointed out the hair. Aa for the main, I ordered the chicken. While the chicken was fresh and flavourful, it was very salty. I was actually unable to finish the chicken for that reason. Other than that, we did enjoy the meal and will likely return.
POOR COVID PROTOCOLS! Although hand sanitizers, tables spaced out and buttons for automatic doors were in place, it was concerning was that NONE of the staff were wearing masks. No one cared if we sanitized our hands. They stood at the end of the table when serving the plates/taking your order. When the mains came, she did not warn us that the plate was quite hot. We only realized when we were pulling/picking up the plates towards ourselves. Although this place was quite stunning, we were disappointed in the service. Our reservation was at 8:30pm. When we arrived, there was no host to greet us. We awkwardly entered and had to wait a while for someone to realized we were there. Then waited an extra 15mins for our table. They were clearly not ready for us. The service was extremely slow for the restaurant not being very busy. Portions were decent. The bread pudding at the end was the star of the night. The food was meh. Not really worth $80 before tip. Overall the standards did not reflect what you would expect from such a pristine looking restaurant.
Surprised to see none of the servers, food preparers wear masks. The servers put the masks around their arms, pretty concerning to see them keep on talking among themselves on the floor, to the customer by keeping less just 1ft distance (which is definitely not enough), and they still talk and describe when serving the food to table with no face shield or masks. Too dangerous with their current protocol by putting customers at risk. Food is good though but with the current pandemic and seeing their lack of safety measures totally ruined the experience. Fingerscrossed that everyone stays healthy.
We went to Home Block on Friday August 21st for our 10th Anniversary, we did the 5 course meal with wine pairing, it was an amazing experience for our 10th anniversary. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and super pleasant to be around. The food was beyond amazing and you can tell the food was inspired by the wine and matched the wine perfectly. Most of the time the wine is chosen for the food, but your chef has tasted the wine and made the food to compliment the already amazing wine. This was our first dining experience at Home Block, but it will not be our last! I would recommend though that if someone has booked the 5 course meal and mentions that they are there celebrating an anniversary, let alone a milestone anniversary like we were, to offer 2 glasses of sparkling wine. It is a small gesture to say congrats and would make anyone happy. This is something we have experienced at other wineries over the years and just makes you even happier to be out celebrating when it seems others want to celebrate it too. I loved the Okanagan Lake Salmon which I know will only be around for a week, it paired beautifully with the Gewurztraminer, which I made sure to purchase a bottle of when we were leaving.
Amazing food! We had the 5 course with wine pairings, and I will think about that meal all winter. Our favorite wine is their Meritage, it s fantastic. The Rose is also excellent.
Best food Ive had. Excellent service. Loved it
Amazing! We went for the small plates as we were a bit too early for dinner service, the food was incredible and the staff were friendly and very attentive!
We did the 5 course chefs wine paring dinner which was so delicious! Highly recommend
View is great! make sure you book the patio seat near sunset time, then you can enjoy a good wine with the view. The food was just ok, we ordered the set menu for couple and it comes with pairing. The value was good for three course meal.
Love the atmosphere and view here! We have come a couple times and each time was a good experience. They have a great white wine, cant remember which one so just try all of them. ;)
A magical alignment of food, wine, architecture, and service.
Beautiful room and view, tremendous food and wine, fun food music (Peaches from The Stranglers, Green Onions from Booker T and the MGs). Mask free servers hugging each other was uncomfortable though; skipped coffee and desert to get out of there.
Excellent meal, beautiful location, amazing service. Take the plunge and take all the daily menu additions- they are fantastic.
Lovely wine, lovely food, lovely hospitality I love the brand of Cedar Creek.
Up until recently I d would have given this restaurant 5 stars but recently things have slid noticeably. Service was slow. Almost 15 minutes of sitting before our waitress appeared and then a further 10 minutes before we received our drinks. Our meals, when they finally arrived, were not great. Every meal was excessively salty especially the pasta dishes. There seemed to be plenty of staff but somehow only a few isolated areas seemed to be getting attentive service. No sign of the manager anywhere. We have been bringing out of town guests here but are considering changing restaurants though I suppose anyone can have an off evening.
Great date night restaurant. Service was good, food and wine great! Look forward to going back.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere, food and staff. My girlfriend surprised me with dinner here and it was single handedly the best dinner we both have ever had. We opted for a dining experience they call Trust the Chef where the chef surprises you with dishes. It was definitely one of the more interesting ways we have dined and after this dinner has become my favourite way to dine! Definitely recommend this place as a great spot for anything from a casual dinner to special occasions!
We went there for the first time this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect! The service was awesome, food was delicious, atmosphere was great and the wine is superb! Couldnt ask for a better experience.
CedarCreek wine and wine paired dinner. Good food.
What an amazing experience we had on our dinner at this beautiful estate on our stop at Okanagan. Heard about the place from a trustworthy friend and it surely did not disappoint. Staff were amazing! Friendly helpful and accommodating. Food was absolutely amazing, terroir to table as they say. Not a large variety but awesome options and honestly everything was delicious. Open concept kitchen which was lovely to see and the space is just full of natural light and facing the grandiose okanagan lake. Must stop and visit for wine and non wine lovers alike!
Really beautiful dining room with great views. Great staff and excellent food and wines. The desert was a real highlight.
Visited with and without large groups three times now. Consistently excellent food. Great wine of course, and very well trained waitstaff. For a small city Cana has excellent restaurants and this one is one of the best. They could get the risotto perfect it though. They make up for it with the aged steak.
Delicious and classy. Lovely evening and great food.
