Delicious & wonderful service

The service from our waitress Kia was very warm and she was knowledgeable about the rolls and had good vegetarian recommendations for me and my husband. I tried the super supper roll and the crispy avocado rice which were delicious! We trusted her recommendation of the Snow White roll despite it looking like a crazy combinations and we couldn t believe how delicious it was! Thanks so much blue tail we will be back !! One recommendation would be to open the blinds as it is super dark in there! My eyes couldn t adjust to the lighting change

Best sushi spot in town

The whole experience was great. As for me, the best sushi in Kelowna. Service was quick and efficient. And prices are decent as well. Lobster roll and King Shrimp rolls are the best!

I deleted my previous 5 star review from 3 years ago. Ive been giving them the benefit of the doubt for almost a year now but the food quality continues to decline. I can no longer recommend a restaurant I once loved and was a frequent customer of both dine in and takeout. I wont be returning.

Absolutely the best place in Kelowna for sushi! The staff, service, atmosphere and food are all top notch. Weve had dine in, take out and delivery and no matter what, its all fantastic! Zero star for service and customer skills. I ve been to this place multiple times for pickups and deliveries, and the service at the front has consistently been terrible. The person in charge is often hyper and unresponsive. On my recent visit, I asked her three times how long the order would take. She ignored me the first two times, and on the third attempt, she finally said, one moment. When I asked another staff member, she told me she wasn t in charge. Suddenly, the person in charge jumped into the conversation, telling me that if I wanted to wait, I could wait on the side or leave. I explained that I was just asking for an estimated wait time since I had already been waiting for 10 minutes without any information. She then responded that it would be 25 minutes or more. This kind of rude and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable

Go here for sushi. Managed by Korean people, its legit compared to Vancouver. Rolls were on the smaller side and prices were a bit steep but taste was I had the unagi dragon, white mountain, beef teriyaki and yam

We had dinner last week, with amazing service! Its a bit pricey but the food is really delicious and the staff were knowledgeable about my gluten allergy which is so much appreciated :) we will definitely come back when we visit Kelowna

Wouldve gotten a good tip but they were talking about me in there language when they seen me. With my red bandana on. So no tip for them and I will never go there again. I pay in hundred dollar bills.

A little disappointing - was hoping for a great sushi experience but it was quite ordinary. Poor quality salmon and tuna.

Bluetail is an amazing sushi place with lots of choices from simple calamari to Godzilla rolls with every item made fresh when you order and full of flavor. I love it one of the best places to get sushi in Kelowna. Has vegetarian options wheelchair accessible and has parking but doesnt have a kids menu (I think)

The sushi was pretty good, fresh, and the menu had a lot of choices you wouldnt usually see in other sushi restaurants such as deep fried sashimi, rolls, and ice cream. I had a deep fried California roll, and it wasnt overwhelming at all and was delicious. I also ordered two matcha deep fried ice creams but they served us vanilla instead, so they let us have that and served our correct order after. But the thing I didnt like was a lot of gum under the tables, and the fried ice cream had a really thick and uneven shell but otjer than that the food was really delicious and highly recommend

Stopped in for some takeout. Had the spicey tuna roll which was a huge disappointment, it was a tuna roll with siriacha sauce on top, not a fan. And the terriyaki chicken roll was dry as a bone. All in all very unimaginative and not even well executed, could have been from safeway. We wont be going back.

Our favorite sushi place in kelowna for the food. It s quick and delicious and elevated. However the service is always slow and servers aren t very friendly. We waited a long time to have our order taken and even longer to get our bill. Takeout is great!

Popped in for the lunch special because I was in the area. Very high quality for the reasonable price, and the service was super fast with just the right amount of attention. I was able to order a real crab California roll in the special too! Based on this experience, it s worth going out of my way for lunch in the future. P.S. the spicy miso hit the spot!

Fantastic place for a relaxed dine in. Prices are a little high for some of the basics, but if youre ok with spending a bit more be sure to try their specialty rolls!

We are visiting from Burlington, ON and we chose Blue Tail after doing a Google search of the best sushi restaurants in Kelowna. We were thrilled with our choice! The ambience was lovely, the service friendly and efficient and the food was OUTSTANDING! So fresh with generous portions at a reasonable price! Highly recommmend!

Yakisoba came with 2 very disappointing slices of beef. Beef was chewy, lacked flavour and tasted very off. Noodles were alright.

I understand that one must cater to their demographic..But the food was an INSULT to Japanese cuisine. I ordered the beef teriyaki lunch special with a side of the Ebi tempura. First of all, Beef teriyaki is more or less the same everywhere. A classic. NOT here. I cannot comprehend why i received two lightly seared pieces of thin flank steak on fried cabbage with a piece of broccoli on top as a garnish. That is NOT beef teriyaki. The Ebi tempura i received was in likeness to POPCORN SHRIMP THAT YOU GET AT BOSTON PIZZA...that is NOT EBI TEMPURA. The staff sounded DEPRESSED. Thankful at small gestures. Felt terrible for them. Not sure what on earth is going on here, but this is NOT good. Will never return.

Atmosphere is great, seating is comfortable, always clean. Rolls and tempura are good but the gyoza is the best Ive had in Kelowna by far. Also not as expensive as you would think from looking at the decor.

Nice quality food and dining experience. I found the service a little rushed, but pleasant and kind nonetheless. My choices from the menu were pretty standard for any Japanese restaurant, so I cant comment on their signature dishes, etc. But my meal was good, fresh, and tasteful. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. The environment is calm, not noisy, relaxing. AMEX is accepted here.

The food is great here. The different creations of rolls we tried are tasty. Their vegetarian rolls are full of flavor and freshness. Kids loved them along with the Miso soup. Teriyaki is a great choice with a nicely cooked, crispy chicken. Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from and all very tasty. Kid-friendliness: Kids cutlery was provided

This was the first time I had tried Bluetail Sushi. I ordered and picked up lunch for my staff from the Commerce Ave. location because it is close to my pharmacy in Rutland. The sushi, tempura and gyoza were all delicious and high quality. I would definitely order from the again!

Went for the first time to try the Love Boat on our 10yr anniversary and Im very glad that we did! Everything was absolutely delicious, well-paired, and perfectly portioned for the pair of us. The spicy miso was very tasty without being overpowering (probably safe even if you cant handle too spicy). The sunomono salad was very refreshing and paired surprisingly well with the sashimi. The tempura was all excellent as were the California rolls, and the service was wonderful! I think this is the third or fourth sushi place we have tried in Kelowna, and it is definitely the best! Truly a standout restaurant, and quite reasonably priced. Also, it was a good thing we went a bit earlier because we didnt make a reservation and the place filled up completely not long after; probably a good idea to book ahead here which I will be doing for our next visit! Thanks a lot for making our anniversary dinner such an enjoyable experience!

It was very tasty, I had avocado fries avocado and yam rolls. Avocado fries and rolls were great, yam rolls were triple the size. Wheng had a teriyaki chicken bento meal. She very much enjoyed it, would recommend but is very busy be warned!

Some dishes are good, the chirashi had too much sauce sauce and overwhelmed the entire dish. The sauce was all I ate and remember the rolls are ok and the udon soup was flavourful but too salty. This place used to be better than this Came back again, soba pepperoncino has good taste and texture but too much sauce and TOO salty. Beef tatami quality has dropped, fried Brussels sprout is good. Overall still got good variety and taste. Good atmosphere with K-pop bgm. And they also dropped a bunch of noodle soup from the menu :(

Not the easiest of places to order for take out. Often dont answer the phone. I was put on hold the other evening until I got tired and decided to order instead from the nearby Indian restaurant...which was quick, super friendly and as amazingly tasty as always! Maybe hire some more staff at Bluetail?

Visiting from Vancouver Island and came here for dinner and it did not disappoint!

Very disappointing. We ordered the biggest and most expensive rolls on the menu. One of them was the lobster roll which had teeny tiny deep fried pieces of lobster in it. The rolls were literally half the size of anywhere we have been. We also ordered 6 different nigiris. The Unagi was stoned cold but we couldnt send it back because after serving us we got completely ignored...had to finally flagged a server to get it replaced. This was at 3 pm in the afternoon when we were the only customers in there. We always order the same amount and usually we leave full....Sadly neither of us were anywhere near that. Will never go back.

My granddaughter is a big fan of salmon sashimi. We took her out for lunch at the Commerce location recently. The service was friendly and prompt, all the dishes were very good and the cost reasonable. We had Salmon Sashimi, Teriyaki Chicken combo, Miso Soup and a Dynamite Roll. We will definitely be back.

Ive been ordering from Bluetail for the past several years and I have always enjoyed the excellent quality sushi from both locations.

The food was exceptional. Fresh and fast and delicious! The Brussel sprouts were phenomenal. And the green tea cheesecake was a hit. Everything was absolutely delicious. Can t recommend it enough.

Above average sushi restaurant in Kelowna. We ordered a bunch of combos to try a little bit of everything. Surprisingly, the brussel sprouts on the appetizer sampler was the side that stood out the most...which is not a good sign for a sushi restaurant. With that said, the sushi and sashimi did taste fresh. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed at first but eventually pulled through. I have mixed feelings about Bluetail Sushi (Commerce), so Im not sure if I would return.

Great staff, nice decor and ambience, clean dining area and bathrooms. Easy parking, ground level entry, wheelchair accessible. Food was ok, nothing memorable. Beef in the teriyaki was tough and chewy. The sunomono had grapes, cherry tomato and grapefruit, not a fan I prefer it traditional. Tempura and miso were great. Probably wouldnt recommend, theres better Japanese restaurants in Kelowna IMO.

So disappointed with my husband and Is meal tonight. We ordered a beef and chicken teriyaki. Not only were they completely flavorless but the only vegetables included was one sliver of a carrot and a single piece of broccoli over a mass amount of cabbage that had zero teriyaki sauce/flavor. The beef especially had nothing to it- just thin, flavorless meat. We both couldnt stomach it and unfortunately wasted our money. Blah! Definitely wont be ordering anything from Bluetail again.

The sashimi fish is of very high quality. Keep the portion sizes coming. Best in Kelowna.

Food is always quick to be served and tastes amazing. Staff is attentive and polite. It has a laid back high end energy. Take out is just as good!

We enjoyed dining in last night here. We had a later dinner, so the later hours for this location of remaining open was great. We ordered: Salmon tuna sashimi Tuna karage (this was very delicious) Bluetail tempura (the lobster was amazing in this!!!) Red dragon roll (would not recommend, not much flavor) and deep fried matcha ice cream for dessert!

All around very excellent experience and awesome helpful staff.

I shared a sushi dinner with my family at Bluetail recently and we tried some new rolls! (The lighting isnt great in the restaurant, so excuse the darker photos.) After some miso soup & brussel sprouts to start with, we dove into the rolls! We had a couple veggie rolls and a rabbits roll (both great for veggies & flavor!), a BLT roll (loved the deep fried beet), a super supper roll (much calmer flavor wise), and an avo crispy rice roll (which is totally different sort of roll, but a favorite among us all!) Dad tried the yakisoba dish which he enjoyed as well and though initially skeptical at the size of the dish, was just right in the end. Staff are always friendly, helpful and efficient. I gave 4/5 atmosphere as the music got to be a bit much and over-powering your conversation a bit. Regardless, weve enjoyed exploring the menu and look forward to our next meal and adventure at Bluetail!
