Zen Sushi and Korean Cuisine in Kelowna

Food was so fresh and very delicious and the service was friendly also so def recommend!!

The miso soup and chicken were lukewarm. The chicken was still tasty and crispy, but much less enjoyable when mostly cold. Rolls were nice, nothing special.

I never normally write reviews but my experience here last June made me feel like I am obligated to. We had dinner at the restaurant around 9pm and there was barely anyone there. I accidentally left my purse on my chair and once I realized, the restaurant was already closed so I couldnt call them. However, I had an airtag in my wallet and it was showing that it was still there. The morning after, we gave the store a call and the person said that someone else came to pick it up after seeing it in the window. That made no sense since the airtag was still showing that it was at the restaurant. I filed a police report and an officer went to the restaurant to investigate it. The manager apparently said that they remember the bag and thought it was still at the restaurant. They just so happened to not have their security footage working so they couldnt check. They told the officer that theyd check around for it and ask their staff if they know where it went. A week went by without a response and I called the store and they said that they would check the security footage (meaning that they do have security footage and just didnt want to check it before?). This happened multiple times during that week, where theyd say the same thing (check videos and ask staff) but no one would get back to me. I understand that it was my fault for leaving my bag there. However, the disorganization and lack of willingness to help is appalling, especially since the airtag was still showing that it was there that night and morning but no efforts were actually made to help.

So good! Staff were wonderful. Food was delicious and was beautifully presented!

I ordered various boneless chicken dishes for a casual wedding buffet this weekend. The chicken was delicious and I can t say enough about the wonderful owner who was so kind in helping me organize the order and making sure it arrived fresh and on time

I visited for dinner, but I felt like they were concentrating on delivery and were neglectful of people eating at the restaurant. They made me wait for a long time and didnt even take my order. I was embarrassed by the attitude of not giving water until I asked for it. There seemed to be an attitude of not focusing on customers. The kimchi stew seemed to have plain water instead of broth.

Has the best sushi and the coolest experience including the playing, this was all around a really positive experience.

Staying nearby ordered dinner for my daughter and I. We just got back to the hotel only to find several things messed up with our order. I called to let them know - no offer to have me come back or fix things - only a oh, sorry. Bye.

We came to visit from Edmonton, where we experienced plenty of good sushi restaurants. Upon walking in, the first red flag was that there was only one other couple in the restaurant on a Friday night. Service took long, and the man in the front came from smoking outside without washing his hands. Gloves were used on food going to the kitchen, and the different door handles were not cleaned properly. The miso was oversalted, and the dishes tasted eggy. The food seemed reheated in a microwave, and there was no one visibly cooking; just two people walking around the front of the kitchen. Furthermore, the chicken was still pink and uncooked! The next day, my group and I all got food poisoning, and the prices for such subpar food were not worth it. We 100% regretted going here and advise others not to. There is a reason they were empty; we should have caught that red flag. Steer clear of this place! Parking: n/a

I have eaten here twice so far. Both times just after they opened for lunch on a thursday. Once this month, once in August. The fried chicken is bar none some of the best. The batter is the right amount of crispy. The portion sizes are excellent. The chicken is perfectly moist. The plating is appetizing. It is absolutely fantastic, and I will be stopping again sometime soon. Can not get enough of CM Chicken. Dietary restrictions: They have options that range from Gluten Free to Vegetarian. Can not speak for vegan options. Parking: Nearby parking lot of Impark not even a block away. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, ramp to get in, plenty of maneuverability between tables.

2022-12-26 After finally arriving in Kelowna after traveling through the clouds, I put down my things at the hotel and looked for something to eat. Their house is okay. The store owner speaks Korean. But its a pity that Sashimis Don is not to my liking.

Hands down the best Sushi in Kelowna. Used to come here when it was in Rutland. Sushi was fantastic, quick and fresh with the tempura still hot! They even had our plate sparkling with a beautiful flame. Would highly recommend

I heard about the restaurant from a friend, and I was impressed by the great service and food! The chicken was coated and fried expertly, having a nice, even crust, and the seasonings complemented the main dish very well. The overall texture was also great, with a nice, crispy, crunch. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes chicken.

We tried their new menu Korean Style fried chicken and fried rice cake It was crispy and fresh, also portion was enough for four of us. We fully enjoyed it!!

The most delicious sushi and fried chicken in kelowna! We had the sushi pizza which was such a unique and amazing experience. Tasted so good. Soy fried chicken was sweet and juicy, the best! And the salmon sashimi was really good quality. Thank you Zen! :)

This is a great little restaurant. Sushi was in the top 10% of the places Ive been to in the Interior. Service and atmosphere were excellent. We were committed to sushi that night, but Id like to go back and try the Korean options on the menu. They have some basic traditional options plus a wide variety of fried chicken.

Had to walk out cause we couldn t get any service. It wasn t super busy. There were only a few tables inside and a couple on the patio between three servers. We should not need to wait a long time to ask for menus and then try flag someone down to order. So we left instead.

Got my order wrong and got an attitude with me after I clearly stated my order twice. Had to ask for extra refill and get up to go grab it cause he never came around. Lastly there was a small thin stringy substance on my Philly roll.

Amazing presentation at this place, I was actually shocked given how quick and fresh everything was. I wish I had pictures, but trust me these guys know how to serve food and it shows. They obviously pre make some rolls, which is smart and efficient.. The young man serving was great too, which made tipping him a pleasure. We had sushi and it was very good as well, not expensive. Better quality then say Bluetail in my opinion. Great location and patio. I will be coming here again soon!

The best korean+Japanese in kelowna and probably one of the best in BC. Their chickens are so good. Beef teriyaki was amazing and even their rolls.

Came here yesterday with some friends. And I do understand that it was Canada Day however we were blatantly ignored by the staff. It was almost 30 mins until we ordered (I had to flag someone down to order) after 30 mins of one of us got our meal and my friend and I had to wait yet another 45 minutes for our sushi. An hour later they brought us our appetizers which were the strangest tasting gyozas any of us had ever had. Not to mention we had to ask for water 3 times but no one brought us any. I ve worked in food service and no matter how busy it gets it should not be THAT bad. Never in my life will I ever make the terrible mistake of dining here again.

There is a menu posted on the door so we decided what we wanted, went in and ordered two items for $6 and $6.75 each. Imagine my surprise when they charged us over $9 for each of those items. We are currently updating our menu. Well until that menu is updated, you charge what you have posted! That was a 50% increase on each item. NOT happy!

Staff are great food comes out quick but the rolls are made very messy and the food is not very fresh.

I visited in the late afternoon about 3 weeks ago for a meal during a family trip. When we sat down, the employee served cold water in a glass cup, but it broke into pieces in front of the childs face on the table with a loud noise. This may be because you poured ice water into the hot glass without sufficiently cooling it immediately after washing. Fine glass shards flew everywhere, and some even got stuck in the childs hands and arms. All four family members moved to the seats right next to us, and as we frantically removed the glass shards from our childrens hands and arms, the owner and an employee came from next to us and silently removed the glass shards with a broom. After removing the tiny pieces of glass from the childs clothes, hands, and arms and checking to see if there were any injuries, I became angry. A few minutes had passed since the accident occurred, but I thought I hadnt heard a single word of concern, let alone an apology, asking if I was okay. So, when I asked the boss why there was no apology, he said, That employee is a good child, but I think he doesnt know something. Is the child okay? He then asked about the childs well-being. I was so angry that I wanted to leave the restaurant right away, but the kids were hungry and I saw that another Korean restaurant nearby was closed, so I just sat down. After ordering a meal, I went to the kitchen to place an additional order, and a man came up to me and asked, Okay, what can I do for you? He said. Only then did I realize that the person who had been standing at a distance and quietly watching the situation from earlier was the male boss. Although he was watching the whole situation, he didnt even think about coming over and helping me in any way. When I went to the kitchen, he didnt ask if I was okay or apologize for the employees mistake, but instead asked a cautious question like, What do you want? I was offended, but I didnt want to ruin the feeling of a family trip with two young children, so I just placed an additional order and returned to the table. While I was waiting for the food I ordered, the lady manager came and asked if she could move me to another seat as a group of customers was coming. So my family moved the table for the second time. As I was eating the food I ordered, the owner said it was a service and brought out chicken and rolls, but my family had already ordered a lot of food, and I thought I couldnt eat the food at the cost of causing my children to be shocked and have even broken glass in their bodies. I declined the food provided and returned it. And when I left, I paid the full price for the food. While I was paying, the lady boss kept asking me questions about my personal life, such as where I came from, where I was going, and whether I was traveling, and I felt very lonely. I wanted to think it was an expression of care, but I was disappointed until the end because it gave the impression that they were only concerned about the stores reputation rather than feeling sorry for the child or my family who could have been seriously hurt. Kelowa is a beautiful city like a hidden gem, and I was glad to see that there are quite a few Korean restaurants in this beautiful place. However, the end was painful because of my experience at this restaurant.

The sushi here was delicious, in particular the mango chicken with blueberry sauce sushi roll (amazing!) However the service was quite slow and we ordered 4 different rolls and only got brought 3 and about 10minutes later had to ask where the other one was in which the waiter said he missed that one at the bottom of his page It is very expensive here and I have tried quite a few sushi places in Kelowna and West Kelowna. I probably wouldnt go back based solely on the merit that I can get way better sushi for a fraction of the cost elsewhere

Good service, but the food was disappointing. We ordered spicy sushi and they forgot to put the spicy sauce so the server went back and drowned the sushi with spicy sauce. We also got bibimbap which was hard and the beef had a beef jerky texture and overall tasted not good compared to other Korean bibimbaps I have had

The day we went, food came really slow and the order were all messed up, but hoping thats a one time thing. Food was great value compared to whats available in Vancouver. Tasty for the price. Would come again!

Great food, went there at around 2pm last night yesterday. My sushi roll was delicious. Ordered tempura aswell, and it wasn t greasy/oily as other places do it. Which didn t make me feel bloated or get a stomach like how I usually would. Our waitress was awesome and made us have a great experience.

Zen Sushi and Korean Cuisine is one of downtown Kelownas best kept secrets. We were looking for somewhere new to eat and we popped into this little gem, now its all we talk about. Apon both my husbands and my first bites all you could hear from us is MMMMMMMM!!!!!!! Zens food is a flavour explosion in your mouth! Perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, everything was super yummy. The staff is wonderfully friendly and incredibly accomidating! We have been back and are planning to go again this week. You can taste the love put into Zens meals.The food is prepared and presented like a work of art! The prices are very resonable too! Fresh, and exciting to eat! Zen is a very special little gem. As soon as we finish our meals, we are planning our next visit! Thank you to the exceptional staff! We appreciate the incredible food and service so much!

The staff was nice and tried their best BUT the food was not even average: Sushi that opened, filling duplicated in 3 of the rolls, no signature or any new flavour, basics were not mastered. Bulgogi came after 1h30 !!! Not grilled ! Not marinated ! Waisted my time and money ! I would not recommande this place

This is my favourite place to eat downtown Kelowna. It is family run and they are all super friendly. The presentation is great and the menu unique.

Delicious. New favourite place to go. Dynamite rolls presented beautifully, tempura not all greasy, and teriyaki beef was light, tasty, and full of veggies (too often it s like a bottle of teriyaki poured on some meat and cabbage - this was absolutely not that experience). Staff was also great. Seeing some of the other ratings, don t understand the couple poor ratings (although we didn t have sashimi). Didn t understand why the place wasn t full - must be still so new.

Came here for a late dinner on Friday as its one of the only places downtown that close after 9pm. Looks like they changed their name awhile ago. Its now Zen Sushi and Korean Cuisine. They were quite busy when we arrived and it took a bit to flag someone down to get a table. You can tell they were struggling a bit to keep up with the demand. We later found out that one of the servers was training another person so cant really fault them for that. We ordered miso soup, edamame, chicken karaage, assorted sashimi, rainbow roll, dynamite roll, and beef teriyaki. Probably too much food for such a later dinner. We also had waters and tea. The restaurant also had korean dishes but we didnt partake. The edamame was ok but the chicken karaage was kind of like food court taste and texture. The assorted sashimi was good. The rolls fell apart. The beef teriyaki was pretty good. As mentioned, they were pretty busy so we had to flag the server to get utensils and napkins and tea throughout the night. It was an ok experience and one of the only places open. If we had dinner earlier, I think Id try a different sushi place.

Sushi with a show! Absolutely delicious. The yam in their yam avocado roll is so crunchy and the avocado is really fresh. Their special rolls are full of flavours. One of the best sushi in Kelowna!

Best sushi in Kelowna, hands down. The gyoza, the Zen roll, and the spicy dynamite roll keep us coming back for so many years. No where else compares.

omg no. presentation was cool (the fire) but the sushi was average, gyoza wasn t that good, the nigiri had chives in it which was weird and there were BONES in my friends chicken . also expensive for what you get

SUSHI ZEN IS THE BEST SUSHI IN KELOWNA!! Fresh tuna, really nice sockeye, tastes like its straight from a dock. Friendly staff, amazing presentation, and being from van island I ate alot of great sushi/seafood.. And have high expectations, sushi zen is up there with some of the best tasting sushi I have had. . ... Spider roll, lobster roll, double tuna are some of my favs but u really cant go wrong. Anything tempura, any sashimi, all fresh and delicious.... And dont leave without trying the deep fried California roll... Its Like food candy I eat here like once a week and there has never ever even been the slightest thing wrong or mixed up w anything I ever ordered. 5 star top to bottom hoping to eat in what looks like beautiful dining private booths when and if this covid madness ceases to be such a threat and restaurants can get back to selling an experience with your food. I feel criminal eating such high grade sushi outta take out boxes... But hey I will enjoy it this way for now, thankfully they are able to stay open for takeout. If you like sushi, real sushi and want to support a local business SUSHI zen, is a win, win.

A personal favorite for eating in or ordering out. Great roll selection and heart warming miso soup, spicy being my preferred. The stuffed mushroom tempura balls are brilliant, the outside is crunchy then the filling just melts in your mouth. Some of the sashimi is hit and miss to me, especially the tuna, but most of it tastes fine. Its one of those menus you have to really explore to see whats best for you.

I am always blown away by the presentation. The food is always fun. Their food is wonderful and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. When I am craving Japanese food I usually come here to satisfy it.

Their rolls are always fantastic and the presentation is wonderful. I cant stop recommending the Ogopogo roll. Definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in town.

Honestly, this is my favourite sushi place in town! My boyfriend and I went on a mission to find the best Donburi close-ish to us and out of the 5 places weve recently tried Sushi Zen is hands down the best. Were not sure if its the wonderful server, maybe its the ratio of veggie to rice to sauce, or it could just be the love they put into theyre food but they are the best we have had in Kelowna thus far.

Had some take-out from here. Although it took several phone calls to successfully speak with someone, the food was great (maybe a little salty). I would recommend the hot entrees here.

One of the best I have ever had! I flew in from Hawaii for a vacation and was recommended to this place. I was blown away by the service from my waitress! The artistry that when in to the preparation of the dishes is only outshined by the amazing flavors! I will 100% be coming back!

Great sushi in Kelowna! Especially love the poke bowls. We enjoy trying some of the more creative rolls (ICE roll wasnt bad, especially if you like crispy deep fried stuff) and will definitely be back.

Great food, fast service, and reasonable price. I always find myself picking up their poke bowl and some random sushi on the side. Convenient location as well. I would definitely recommend anyone who lives around this area to try their food out.

Wonderful food, many options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Staff always greets you very well with the men in the back kitchen even sharing greetings. Have been going here since they first opened and have never had a bad experience, dine in or take out. I miss living a block away from Sushi Zen very much.

I called in for takeout. It was a large order and the lady said it would be 15 minutes by the time I got it it was over half an hour. When I got home the rice was slightly dry. And they didnt give enough condiments. But overall this is an OK spot for sushi

Ogopogo roll was so amazing that I wouldnt share it. Nigiri was perfectly portioned to the rice and amazingly fresh. Spicy miso is a must. 4 people with big appetites came to $80. If I lived in kelowna Id probably come here 2-3 times a week.

We are a small family of three and have been eating at Sushi Zen frequently over the last few years. The food is always great! Very well prepared and always what we ordered. The price is fantastic and makes for a great night out without draining the bank account. The service is amazing! And I cannot say it enough the food is great! Thank you for the great service we love eating at your establishment!
