5-7 Market Square, Keswick CA12 5BD, United Kingdom
We are a famous and well established fish and chip takeaway & restaurant situated in the centre of this lovely Lakeland market town. We have a somewhat well respected and enviable reputation, being recognised locally and nationally and are the English lakes most recommended fish and chip restaurant. (TripAdvisor/ Google) We also manage to draw quite a number of celebrities........you may be lucky!!!
Fish and chips best I can remember, very generous portion too. Lightning fast, friendly service. Reasonably priced for such a popular tourist town. Will definitely return when we come back to Keswick. Many thanks!!
Wow, definitely a fantastic place to get fish and chips in Keswick. We booked a table and when we arrived they didn't have spa e in the restaurant for us but let us eat downstairs in the cafe area instead where it was much quieter and we had the place to ourselves. The girls service in the cafe was brilliant. They were attentive and very friendly. The food... OMG! It was incredible! So fresh, so hot, so delicious. Next time I'm in Keswick I'll definitely be getting fish and chips there again!
Value for money in this place is absolutely insane! We got two portions of fish and one portions of chips and it was more than enough. Fresh, tasty, cheap and very local. Probably top 3 fish and chips I have ever had! 10 out of 10.
Monday 15/7/24 WE were at the Keswick Convention & went in this well known chippie that you can't miss at the top of the town at 4.45 pm for our 🐠 & 🍟 Seating downstairs was closed off 🔒 & I had to struggle up the narrow stairs & we sat at the table for 2 at the window 🪟 The smallish thin fish🐠~ ~ came with crispy batter on it & it tasted ok BUT I had to leave a load of small chips that were far too crisp. Some folks might like that, but for me I wish they had binned them. I had a good large pot of T for 2 & I folded up a napkin to sit the tea pot on it, to stop the heat disapating from it. I was told by a friend that they don't accept LEGAL Scottish notes only England ones, but fortunately I had English ones that u used to pay for the meals. So it might be worth bearing that in mind. It only cost for the two of us £23 & that's for a pensioners special AND it also included a large pot of T & that's really cheap. So in you go & let them know - if you don't want crispy hard chips 🍿
Crispy chips with fluffy insides. Battered fish that isn't greasy. High standard if unspectacular. Recommended.
Not the best of chippy got Cumberland sausage and chips at £7.05 over priced and sausage undercooked it was red in middle, chips where greasy. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone that wants food poisoning that I got after eat some of it. 🤢🤢🤮🤮 gone way down hill, since the last time I went. Hope this place gets a health and safety inspection soon, before someone gets very badly from the food there sell.
Had haddock and chips, which was divine. My son noted that the customer service in here is very good. He really enjoyed his child's chicken burger and chips as well.
The food was great. Servings for me were quite large for the price compared to previous restaurants in the UK I've been to. The lady in short blonde hair was very kind and hospitable. The inside of the restuarant including the toilet was absolutely clean. Accepts card payments. Dogs are not allowed to come inside.
Great fish and chips - everything home made!
AVOID, The smallest portion of chips you will ever get in your whole life!!
Delicious
Good food but a long queue. Understandably long though - it was a busy day. Chips were good and food was hot. Okay portions - not too small but also not hugely generous. in general, very nice.
Really great haddock & Chips with my mum and first time Ive sat inside the restaurant
Best fish and chips in Keswick and best vegetable soup
Nice enough food but a bit pricey, it is in a prime place in Keswick so will be more expensive than other chippys but nearly £3 for a can of diet coke is just too much IMHO
Very positive experience - friendly staff.
Clean and friendly. Very good food.
Ok
Delicious!! A real gem, perfectly cooked fish and chips. Friendly staff . Tip top mushy peas. Well done!
Food is really nice portions were on the small side
This was the best fish and chips we had on our trip to England. The batter was rich and crispy and fish was perfect.
Best chippy in the region! Absolutely yummy!!!
Hard to judge atmosphere as we deliberately visited when it wasnt busy - only one other couple in the restaurant. However I would imagine it would rate highly. But this the only place to visit in Keswick if you appreciate quality fish and chips
Came to this chippy a week ago, found the girl behind the takeaway counter to have an attitude from the get go. I understand that working with people can be stressful, especially during busy periods, however I am a polite customer and dont expect rudeness, with customers being addressed as you when giving out orders. When my order was ready, the girl literally threw my meal down onto the counter causing the battered sausage to roll onto the counter and had to be caught by myself before it fell on the floor. Both servers behind the counter saw what happened and just blankly looked at me without even apologising!? The battered sausage itself was extremely dry and cardboard like as if it had been sat out for hours. My boyfriends fish and chips were nice however. Its just a shame about the poor service we received and that other negative reviews about service seems to have not been taken seriously and have been responded to with sarcastic comments
Great fish and chips. Quite a queue to wait to get them. We took them away and sat outside on the benches to eat them, though there is a restaurant inside too.
The food at the Old Keswickian is a great price, tastes excellent, the quantity of it is amazing and the building itself is lovely. We did want to use the restaurant however the menu isnt great for those with allergies like one of our party and left after some rude and accusatory remarks from one of the staff that we were only there to use the toilet (which are for patrons only). If you cant eat anything off the menu then you arent going to stay when other places in Keswick offer options. I will add this was only one member of staff, the others were lovely but it only takes one to ruin an experience. Perhaps they were having a bad day? I dont know but it didnt exactly make us feel welcome in the restaurant, the takeaway however was great and the cones of chips are generous. Dietary restrictions: Not a very good menu for anyone who may be Coeliac.
Disappointed. .Hardly any fish inside masses of batter, what bit was in there was dried up & just warm, obviously not been freshly cooked..Always look forward to fish & Chips here when visiting Keswick. This was not great. Will try somewhere different next visit.
Good food, friendly staff very welcoming
Excellent food
I ate in the upstairs restaurant and found the fish and chips to be excellent. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was very crispy. The chips were cooked perfectly, not under done like you see often nowadays. Service was friendly and efficient.
Ordered and waited for lightly battered fish and chips. 25 minute wait and when the food arrived it was greasy and inedible. The fish had so much batter on and inside the fish was very dry. Wouldnt return. Food
Pretty naff. Heaps of drying out chips (close to closing time), miniscule haddock that tasted of nothing. My wife had cod which was precisely the same. Watered down vinegar and barely any salt, despite asking for a heavy sprinkle. Staff were borderline rude (again) and this isnt the first time. Previous bad review left, but chanced our arm a second time. There will not be a third. Most went in the bin and a waste of £20. Awful. Look elsewhere.
Felt as if the food was thrown onto the plate. Disappointed with the fish cut very very thinly. Staff were lovely
Sad to see the Old Keswickian is now rubbish. I could see that they need a lot of staff, but the dilatory wench serving had all the character of the wet dishcloth she was sullenly wiping surfaces with. We queued for 15 minutes, when all we wanted was chips. Any decent fish & chip shop shouts out to see of theres anyone with an order of no fish like us. Also regular chips is £3.75! I dont know about their ground rent & business rates, but that is a rip off in anyones book! Will never darken their doorstep again after eating from there for 35 yrs
We are a family of 5 with 3 young children eating in. We arrived at dinner time, the kids were super excited to have a chippy on a Friday evening. We sat down on a large table and were presented with the menus by one lady and a made to feel welcome. The second (much larger lady), then asked us to leave because we had a pram, we asked kindly if there was any alternative spaces, the lady rudley and flatly said no, i am sorry . I wonder if they would have treated someone in a wheel chair with the same level of exclusion? The other guests looked horrified by our treatment.
Best fish and chips in keswick
Excellent fish and chips. Good service.
Massive queue for the downstairs take away which should give an indication of how popular the place is. We went to the restaurant upstairs. The food was great, fast service. Would highly recommend.
Highly recommend a visit. Fantastic freshly cooked fish and chip supper, big portion sizes and cooked to perfection. Good lattes. Great price, friendly service and super clean cafe and toilet facilities. And quicker service than queuing for take away. Win win!
The portions are large, but there is not enough fish in the fish ((one breading
The cod was simply the best Ive ever had. Delicious.
The Keswickian has always been my benchmark for top chip shops. The food is always well prepared and the restaurant is bustling and welcoming. I ve always popped in on my trips to the Lakes and I will continue for years to come. Thank you for the great service, food and the incredible sticky toffee pudding - arguably the best one I ve tasted across the country.
Very traditional chippie. Super light battery on snow white fish. Light chips. Good portions.
Great food but £3.20 for a single can of pop was outrageous.
Tried to get a table in the restaurant for a family of 2 adults and 4 children on a Sunday evening only to get told they have no space even though we could clearly see empty tables.
Rude staff
Really nice fish and chips. Great service Possibly the best fish and chip restaurant on Cumbria (it says) and who am I to disagree? Food
Very nice cod and chips, pleasant staff, prompt service.
Stopped for three portions of chips and gravy to take away one evening this week. Terrible dry crisp chips. Gravy was lumpy slurry and the service was terrible. Handed a lot of gravy. Waited for chips which turned up at intervals.
Delicious
Oh man, that was very tasty People lined up in front of the restaurant to eat. They have probably the best fish and chips. So a must have if you are in Keswick
Always love to come to the Keswickian. Weve been coming for at least 15 years when we visit Keswick and want tea. We used to bring our children with us when they were little .Definitely recommend it, especially the fish and chips, though everything is good
Very friendly staff, great service and excellent fish and chips. Really hit the spot after a 50km run in the lakes
This is one of the best fish and chip shops iv ever been in. The staff are very friendly and professional. The fish and chips are some of the best I ever had. You always know when a shop is good when they are queuing outside as they were at this one. Full stars from me .
Food excellent, service very good and speedy, staff friendly, would recommend.
Food ok for the price but found the person who served me quite rude and condescending.
Good food for cheap price. But experience was poor. The service was awful. The lady at the front was very condescending and belittling towards customers. I think that the shop would be quite nice if it weren t for her. Her attitude needs to change because she ruined my day. Manners cost nothing. She was a horrible ugly person which was very rude and my keswickian experience was ruined due to the appalling service at this horrible place. Not 10/10. Anyone contemplating queueing up to eat here should reconsider as it is horrid. Food wasn t even that good only cheap.
Good meal at a reasonable price
Delicious fish n chips! Was very busy when we went, but the service was brilliant.
I recently visited this chippy with high hopes, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. The place has two floors - a downstairs and an upstairs restaurant. My friends and I went upstairs to the restaurant, where a kind young lady took our order and accommodated our request to have our food packed for takeaway as we were in a hurry to catch a bus. But things went south when an older lady rudely confronted us, shouting about having takeaway in the restaurant, despite us paying restaurant prices. When I calmly tried to explain, she shockingly made a racist remark: I bet your two white friends ate at the restaurant and did not order a takeaway. This was not only deeply insulting to my race and religion but also an attack on my dignity and financial status. This kind of appalling behavior is unacceptable, and I left feeling humiliated and disrespected. Avoid this place if you value respectful and decent service. This experience was not only disappointing but also deeply offensive.
Great fish and chips last visited 47 years ago. Must return sooner
The best fish and chips weve ever eaten. The curry sauce is to die for, I could just drink that straight. Amazing value for money, the portion sizes are huge. Take away is just as good quality and quantity as sitting in the upstairs restaurant and eating in. Honestly I could not recommend this place enough. The two of us could have shared one portion, but it was too delicious to share!!
Take away fish n chips absolutely bloody excellent!!! Best weve ever had!! Thank you. Brilliant!
Peas should be included in price, a little on the expensive side, put beautiful
very good staff and amazing fish n chips best chippys are allways in a hard place to get to ie centre of town food was so nice I got 6 fish 5 chips brilliant
Great fish and chips :P! We had ours to take away but in hindsight might ve been better to eat in as seating is limited in the town
The restaurant upstairs is really nice and the prices are fantastic
We sat in the fish and chip restaurant. The chips was double the price of the takeaway section and a very small potion. The pot of gravy was very small covered at least 3 chips which was also double the price. Did not feel a welcome response when we asked if they was open. The blonde lady was rude and stunk of cigarettes also. Would not go back
Lovely food, wonderful staff and will leave me with a great lasting memory of my short time visiting Keswick.
The Old Keswickian Fish & Chip shop is a lovely light space to enjoy a plate of fish and chips. I highly recommend it. I ate in the restaurant upstairs.
Ive been coming here for years. This time, the fish was dry. Its my first time having poor fish and chips from here.
Food was cold and waited ages. Staff were some of the rudest staff I ve ever experienced.
Really underwhelming considering the price
Good food at a reasonable price
Great fish and chips
Great fish and chips and excellent service. Staff were super helpful and made sauce even when theyd run out after a busy day. Fish and chips were really tasty - you can see why there was a queue out of the door all night!
One of the best fish and chips restaurant in Keswick. The only problem is that it can get full sometimes.
Food is really good quality and reasonably priced considering its bang on the middle of Keswick. Every time Ive been past theres a queue outside, speaks volumes on their quality. You wait, you get a good chip The staff in both parts are equally friendly, sometimes the takeaway staff are a bit manic but its understandable with the demand their under. The restaurant has very nice atmosphere and is very cosy. Unfortunately they dont have parking, but there is plenty around the town center.
Fantastic traditional fish and chip shop, food cooked fresh, the best fish and chips we have had in years. Friendly team I was served by Fletcher who was really courteous and polite. I look forward very much to my next visit to Keswick for more.
Excellent value
Lovely fish and great chips. Fast and friendly service. Will go back. Food : 5/5
Been a few times before covid so we 3 called today from Orton . Michelle saw us to our seats and as we were 1st in had a nice friendly chat . We were offered the pensioner special which was more than ample . Fish chips b&butter and tea I had a portion of peas with mine . Our friend is 91 so asked for a childs portion . No problem at all . All served with a smile . A young lady also serving and just as friendly . So 10 out of 10 for me . Well worth a visit . Parking: Pay to park . Free in disabled 3 hrs
Loved the battered haddock, really loved it in fact, and the chips are great - which I suppose is pretty important for a fish and chip shop ! The rest of the food looked good too and the service (in the restaurant bit) was quick and friendly. Only (tiny) complaint was why dont you offer steak pies as well as steak and kidney ones ?
Even if there were a lot of us, the service was quite fast. Food was delicious. Service was great
On a wet day in Keswick, we like to sit upstairs in the restaurant to enjoy our chips, the staff are great, & service is quick and friendly. We equally enjoy our takeaway chips on nice days where the queues out of the door are dealt with quickly and counter service is very good.
The staff member was polite enough, fish and chips were nothing special.
BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN KESWICK
Great fish and chips. Excellent quality, staff very attentive, great price. Will be back
Some of the tastiest chips Ive ever had in my life! Will definitely be coming back for more When I asked about which oil they use because I cant have sunflower oil, they said they use palm oil
Exceptional light batter on the fish . A right good feed Food
2nd time in 6 months where we got home and order was wrong! 1st time for a family of 10 was bad enough but 2nd time just the two of us and am so disappointed. Really relies on its reputation which in my opinion is getting poorer by the day!!
Great food, and lovely staff who let us in late after our bus was delayed, and then ran after us to try and give back my bag which I left, then kept it safe until I picked it up the following day. Top marks and thanks bouquet!
This would usually be 5 star for the food. Has the shop changed hands? Fish was freshly cooked to order that we got quite excited about.. but was greasy, fishy smelling (not in a good way) sempt to be off cuts which didnt flake away as normal, definitely not the usual standard at all. However the dogs did enjoy it.
Fantastic place never had a poor meal in about 40 years
This is our go to place to eat in Keswick when we go out as a family. Everyone enjoys what they have and weve used both the restaurant and takeaway and have never had a bad meal. The price is more than reasonable considering its location.
Delicious fish n chips, great service.
Absolute rude and unprofessional staff ! Been going there for years , but this place has gone down the pan ! I would not recommend at all over priced too
Lovely food, friendly staff! Definitely worth sitting upstairs in the restaurant for food :)
Always my first stop for lunch whenever I visit Keswick ,I have eaten here several times and always had the best fish ,chips n peas nicely presented and served. Not overpriced and good quality food with a nice varied menu. Parking: No parking near
Superb dishes. Excellent food and very reasonable prices. Located close to Moot Hall facing old market square. Most of the time there is a long queue outside for take away. There is additional seating upstairs. If dining in, head to the staircase directly, avoiding the queue. Dine in prices are 10-20 pct higher than take away. Service was good and staff was friendly. We were there on a sunday and it closed by 8.30-9.00. Closed earlier than other restaurants around.
Take away fish / sausage and chips is now very small for the price (a bit stingy) I was surprised it used to be very good. I cannot complain about the food as it was very good. The restaurant is far better, good portions but can get very busy at times. The restaurant is upstairs its quite nice (for a chip shop) staff friendly too.
Disgusting I was in the qué and wanted the loo so went to use the loo and was told it was for customers of the restaurant and the chippy was a separate business... When it clearly isnt they use a bloody hoist to bring the chippy up to the restaurant!!!! The service was soooooo slow. They really dont give a sh£t
Fish and chips were good. Service a bit disorganised.
The most obnoxious Keswickian experience I could have imagined . Poor grooming and cleanliness from the staff who were serving overpriced grease in a cone. Warm cans of Pepsi to wash down the extra crispy battered sausage which I think fell on the floor several times before serving it.. currently attending to my friends welfare after eating the burger . the Curry sauce was nice but please close down..
Top-notch fish and chips!!! And dare I say it... better than fish and chips from Grimsby.
Excellent haddock and chips with mushy peas. My wife had poached haddock in parsley sauce, which was also very good. Service quick and friendly. Never had a bad meal or experienced here.
I ordered fish and chips three times, I asked for salt and vinegar twice when I got home. The young lad hadn t even bothered to put some salt and vinegar on the atmosphere was bad as well. I will not be going to Keswick Fish shop anymore I will go to the bottom one who will put salt and vinegar on my chips with a smile. Vegetarian options: Look
Yummy food, lovely place good service. Best fish and chips in keswick
They scammed me they didnt tell me that eating inside is double the price of taking away and now i only have 5 pound left to spare and im on a school trip. They took advantage of young school children. They refused to let me cancel my order. This is out of order Wheelchair accessibility: Im disabled
Didnt like them and threw them away. A waste of money. Dont know what the restaurant itself is like. First visit here whilst on holiday. Food
We took a takeaway down to Derwentwater and its exactly as good as I remember from 15+ years ago when I lived in the area! Chips are proper chippy chips, crispy and soft at same time. I had chips with cheese and gravy, a northern staple!! Ive never had tastier gravy at another chippy. Prepare to queue out the door and wait at least 10-20 mins at peak times, Im sure it could be longer too.
All good
I read about this restaurant in Rick Steves The Best of England book. The food was terrific.
Rip off prices and tiny portion
First class chippy.
Busy...but only to be expected with lovely staff and fantastic fish and chips
A lovely restaurant up fairly steep stairs in an old building opposite Moot Hall ,tourist information centre. Comfortable seating, very clean. Good selection menu with childrens portions available. Drinks = good selection of non alcoholic & alcholic. Delicious food, good sized portions at reasonable prices. Lovely friendly, welcoming staff. There is also take away on ground floor. Really good to see that they are still in business!! Vegetarian options: A small selection of vegetarian options available, bearing in mind this is a Fish & Chip restaurant afterall.
Sat in. Great service by friendly staff. As with all chippies far too many chips but enjoyable none the less.
Lovely freshly cooked food served quickly and very friendly staff
We choose our take away chips from here all the time. I was dining in for the first time and disappointed to be charged £2.90 for adequate gravy to coat my cheesy chips to go with my fish. So, I asked for a bit more and have chosen to air my disappointment at the double portion charge we received for the gravy. I certainly get plenty of gravy at the take away.
Lovely tradional fish and chip restaurant. Piping hot delicious food, generous portions, served by friendly staff. All at a very reasonable price. Will definitely return. Recommended
Best fish shop in keswck
Have used this chip shop for over 20 years, but will never spend any money in here again. Absolute appauling attitude from staff, one in particular, blonde female who seems to have a huge attitude problem and doesnt listen. Would not let me ask full order, kept ringing it through the till before I had finished, so it ended up being wrong 3 times and then she had the nerve to ask me what the problem was. This happened to me directly after I had observed another member of staff being cheeky to an elderly gentleman. So pleased I walked out and went elsewhere, to The Kingfisher where the staff were very respectable and polite.
Local chippy for takeout. generous portions. Plaice was fried upon order. Chips were generous even with a cone order. Queue moves quite slowly as they fulfill one order at a time sequentially.
Good fish and chips. Delicious homemade pudding (ginger sticky pudding). Good service. Nothing fancy, but done well.
Nice place, cosy, lovely crunchy chips, generous portions. Would recommend for an early dinner.
Ive been in Keswick and to this place thrice already. Will.come again anytime Best place to have one of the nicest Keswikian fish and chips. Place will be a bit busy which slows the turn around time , but expect a smiling welcoming staff when dining there
Apparently There is a better fish and chips down the road. Dont take take pie, its tasteless Vegetarian options: Isnt tasty
Best service ever! Food arrived in a few minutes friendly staff nice crowd. Highly recommended.
Lovely restaurant area and we had delicious battered fish and chips, food was really good, lovely crisp chips. Also superb home made sticky ginger pudding. Really helpful and friendly staff made a very pleasant dining experience.
Delicious food
Very good place for fish and chips. The best was the fried prawns. Its probably the best coated prawns I ever had. Bit crowded at times but they will find a place for you. Kid-friendliness: They provide high chairs for kids. Just ask.
Asked for two large chips and 3 fish and got 1 fish with no ships and 2 fish with pathetic quantities of chips. Rip off. See fish under chips I expected 3 chips and 2 large chips in one pack And no tartar sauce. Go to the Kingfisher instead Food : 3/5
Quick service, excellent food, nice staff
Did the job. Good fish & chips.
Great fish and chips and reasonably priced for the area.
Very nice stop for fish and chips. Crunchy batter nice portion side. Only annoyance is not having proper ketchup bottles rather than those annoying sachets that are hard to open and make a mess.
A really great fish and chip shop with restaurant upstairs. Six of us dined there and all the food was delicious. Beautiful clean surroundings with a lovely view of the market place. All the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable and fast service. We have never been here before but were not disappointed. I cant really think what else you would expect from it. Brilliant.
Mmmmmm, you cant go wrong !
This is the world famous old keswickian fish and chip shop. What more can be said? I asked for sausage and chips. The server asked in a thick Lakeland accent do yer want yer sausage baldy or battered? I chose the battered option as this is what I is accustomed to. He asked if I wanted salt and winegar and scraps which is what we call batter. I said yes to both. The food was lovely. I always return to the old keswickian when Im in the lakes. This will make your day a Top day out.
The fish was amazing quality with decent sized chips followed by the most tasty mushy peas Ive had in a while. Amazing chippy with a very friendly staff and very helpful, the restaurant is downstairs and upstairs and also has a takeaway section too. Very busy but served as quickly as they could with waiting times no more than fifteen minutes. Certainly one of my favourite chippies of all time.
Maybe its because Im from the South but this was one of the best fish and chip shops Ive been to. Great value for money and flavour
Fish was good. Asked could I use toilet. Staff said yes. Went upstairs to use the toilet. Some lass began shouting at me for using their toilet. Advised I was given permission. Extremely rude. Needs to get off her high horse.
Dietary restrictions: All items cooked in the same fryer, do not cater to allergies, wouldn t recommend Food
Visited whilst on holiday, staff pleasant and courteous, food came pretty quickly. Wasnt the best meal. Ever but definitely not the worst either.
Food very filling
Really nice chips. Friendly staff. Bit of a queue but it was a k holiday Sunday
Superb fish and chips! Nice views and very friendly staff, enjoyed it!
Nice fresh food
Lovely chips and friendly service
Absolutely delicious chips! But wouldve been nice for the lass serving to smile and make eye contact, and say thank you rather than just plonk the chips down and turn her back on us. Needs a lesson in customer service.
Great place good food and fully licesenced
Yuck!! Even my 80 year old parents thought it wasn t good
Always go for the chippy with the biggest queue. THERES A REASON. Outstanding Fish, could have made the whale and chips joke but think it s overdone. Fish was cooked beautifully, chips were done to perfection, chips like I remember back in the day. Service was rather efficient considering the queue, you can tell they re used to being busy. Long may it continue. Prices are a bit Shan on the sauces, but they re still great.
Lovely fish and chips, light batter, loads of chips at a very good price. Spotlessly clean rooms and friendly staff.
Parking: Excellent and very polite, professional staff. Food
After Keswick half marathon run cod tasted delicious.
First time for us but wont be the last. Superb fish and chips.
Had a takeaway. Fish was decent. Not greasy and well cooked. Chips were not the best but reasonable.
Every time we are in Keswick we go in the Old Keswickian for lunch. The food is great and the service is great. They are also extremely helpful: my son left his umbrella there in June, I contacted them and asked if they could keep it for us. We collected it yesterday (30th Sept)! We were so pleased.
Good job this is not our local, chips to die for.
Amazing, extremely friendly, spotlessly clean wonderful food, great sitting upstairs in the window watching the world go by. Highly recommend.
Had a wonderful pre Theatre meal. Thankyou
Lucy was lovely downstairs, visited with my elderly Mam and brother who has Learning difficulties she was very accommodating fish was super too and we have a lot good chip shops up Northeast coast so great to visit here after many years
Had cbips gravey it was lovely
Traditional first floor restaurant with original timber beam features. Friendly staff and fast excellent service. Good value for money. Food
Very strange this fish restaurant is not selling cod we have been 3 times in around 3 month and no cod not good for a fish shop restaurant.
Stern staff. Dry fish. Small portions. Disappointing.
This is my go-to in Keswick. The food is always good and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Food
Very nice chip shop
Went there was served by a young lad gave him the order looked at us like a rabbit in head lights seemed to have no clue ordered steak pudding one with curry one with gravy had to Repeat order asked for peas separately as wasnt sure if my wife wanted peas with her curry also a chips and curry and chips cheese and onion pie peas and gravy and scraps none of us were sure if we would get what we ordered went back to caravan so order no separate peas. one pudding chips and gravy with a tea spoon of peas on gravy well most was on paper as he had put it upside down with 3 of the orders second pudding was a pie told us no scraps clearly see them in heat cabinet over all the service was poor but as for the food was good just had to add our own gravy we made would suggest bigger trays as they are very small and not ideal for the job ie too small for the order we gave and need a lid
Our go to restaurant in Keswick. Great food was overpowered by the very strong smell of the perfume diffuser!
Brilliant fish and chip restaurant with a takeaway option also. Food fantastic. Can get busy recommend booking
Lovely fish & Chips. A Broad selection of other Dishes including Childrens menu. Lots of Drinks options, including a lovely pot of tea, local Beers & Fentimans Ginger beer.
Great value. Tasty food.
Been to this place many times in the past, however my most recent visit (October 2023) was disappointing. Prices have drastically increased and honestly the food was mediocre. Service again was mediocre and despite returning many times in the past we probably wont be returning again.
£3 somet for that. Also ran out of chips after I ordered, says it all.
Food is great but service was shambles the waitress had attitude and wasn t friendly blonde young waitress
An extravaganza for the taste buds ask for Karen and Kate
