The Pheasant Inn offers a nice range of beers and traditional meals. Being only half a mile out of Keswick it its well within walking distance.

Great homecooked food. Generous portions. Good service. Will visit again if in the area. Nearly all tables were booked on the Sunday evening we visited in the quiet season

Second time visiting the Pheasant Inn. Fantastic rustic food, great attentive service. I would highly recommend visiting it if your looking for proper no nonsense food with a traditional atmosphere and setting.

Food out of this world

The food here is delicious, even choosing off the standard menu and ignoring the choices on specials menu. I My wife had a slow roasted lamb shoulder Henry. I had venison bourgingion. They were both cooked beautifully and were so tender and tasty ++++++. This place is so well worth a visit.

Food expensive, fish pie more potato than anything else, however Sunday lunch very good especially vegetarian meal.

Had the pleasure of being in this great pub a few times on a recent trip to the lakes.The food was superb and the ales were excellent.Great service and atmosphere.I would make straight for The Pheasant if in the area.

I searched on a Keswick Facebook group for previous posts asking for recommendations Sunday lunch and there were a number of recommendations for The Pheasant in Keswick. It was fully booked online, but when I telephoned they were able to fit us in. It was absolutely delicious and one of the nicest roast dinners weve had in a long time! The staff were so incredibly smiley, friendly and welcoming, the log fire was roaring and my plate was piled high with pork, roast potatoes, buttery mash, carrot and swede mash, roast parsnips, roast carrots, brocoli, cheesy leeks and the biggest Yorkshire pudding ever!! It was all topped off with a delicious meaty gravy and a generous serving of crackling. Perfect! If anyone else is searching for a nice pub to eat in while staying in Keswick, and particularly for a hearty home cooked Sunday roast dinner wed now join the many others in highly recommending it - theres nothing better than word of mouth

Great restaurant with a lovely menu on offer. The food was hot and tasty, and the service was great. Were not local and just popped in on passing. We had arrived, and no staff were welcoming folks, so we looked around.. some tables were reserved, and others not.. We chose one that wasnt. After our order was taken, delivered to the table and we were eating..we were then asked twice if we had reserved (which we hadnt). Following this, we were left to eat our meal..however we then overheard staff telling people at tables next to us that someone had sat to eat without reservation and were apologising for delays, etc. They didnt complain to us directly and their service continued to be great, but it did become uncomfortable as they werent saying it quietly, so we left at the end of our main course without ordering dessert. We would be back, but will definitely make a booking next time!

Totally unsatisfied! Service apauling! Food tasteless!...prawn cocktail...over £9...You pay approx £1 per tiny prawn and a tasteless old defrosted langoustine on top! Steak..nearly £30!.. small and fatty! Definatly wont be returning

Lovely meal again , and booked for Monday. We always book here when in Keswick really good fresh tasty food and beer at good prices.

*edit as Ive had a response very reflective of their bad attitude* The 2 star review is a result of basic maths (4* for food, 1* for service 1* for atmosphere = 6 divided by 3 categories = 2), which apparently your team cant be bothered to do as you didnt allow us to split the bill. The waiver you thrust in front of us after we disclosed an allergy was not legally binding and was incredibly jarring. The servers attitude changed immediately after this and she quite literally went who wants it and threw the bill on the table at the end of our meal. Having worked in hospitality, this is unacceptable. Your responses to reviews are juvenile which further puts salt in the wound. If you would like a pleasant, friendly dining experience without a legal threat please go elsewhere. Dietary restrictions: Non legally binding waiver thrust in front of us with no explanation at mention of allergy.

Issues began when a waiter shoved a waiver in front of my 80 year old grandma to delegate responsibility for a potential allergic reaction to her with an initial shocking lack of explanation. After questioning this disruptive demand we received a rehearsed defensive explanation from a waiter - not the manager actually responsible. How can a business explicitly advertising allergen-free food on their menu revoke these claims due to their third party suppliers?? We dont sign waivers anticipating a risk of choking despite the fact that in this scenario the customer would actually be the most responsible individual, so why would we when we agree to eat something guaranteed safe for an allergy sufferer on a menu?? You are implying responsibility in this claim. Absolutely nonsensical. When word about our challenges had clearly made its way around staff we received the nastiest, most passive-agressive and dismissive treatment from a waitress who had before this point been completely agreeable. We were essentially treated as an inconvenience as she adopted a defensive tone which escalated when politely asked for the bill and when bringing it to the table yelled who wants it?? before effectively throwing it at us alongside the curveball that only one card payment could be made per table. Such a shame that we were mislead by the accommodating attempts of staff in changing the booking time due to train delays and allowing myself a drink despite not having my ID with me. If you expect to remain respected after solely challenging an unanticipated legally binding agreement, dont come here. No hostility here, just verbalising the issues I experienced to which all eight of us concurred. None of the words I have used have been hostile but have been words to describe the behaviour of your staff. Therefore, if you think they are hostile, it is not me you should be complaining about.

Honestly, I wasnt going to bother leaving a review, but I had an email promoting me for one. This is probably the worst meal weve had in Keswick, accompanied by mostly terrible service. Ill try to keep it brief. Partner ordered Chicken Supreme from the specials menu for £21. Served slimy chicken thighs and bland sauce. Sons kids meal was 2 chicken nuggets and literally 5 chips. Hes 8 years old and complained constantly. Had to cook him more food when we got back to our lodge. My Lamb Henry was a mixed bag. The lamb itself was delicious, but the creamy mash was a squashed, lumpy new potato without any creaminess whatsoever. It took 1 hour 10 mins from ordering to receiving our food, and we were stuffed into a corner with barely enough room to move. When we complained about the meals after, the waitress said, I wish you had told us sooner, but at no point did anyone come over to check to see if we were happy with our meals, and the couple of people running about looked completely overwhelmed. After waiting over an hour, you just want to eat, not have them go back and start again. Im sure you understand that. They did knock us £11 off our bill, which was a nice gesture, but I genuinely feel that even the £60 we paid in the end was very bad value for the quality of the food and service received. Well definitely not be going again

Friendly, attentive staff and incredible food! Lots of veggie options but also delicious pub classics. The beef pie was amazing. The staff were all lovely and provided great service despite it being a busy evening. Definitely would recommend!

After booking a week in advance and said where we wanted to sit...no problem...we arrive and told are hearded to the VERY seat i said i didnt want ..they then move us and after over 25 mins waiting and 2 groups coming in after us and being SERVED we are still sitting!! Shocking service i visit Keswick a lot and book there every time.....i can honestly say I will NEVER be back....poor show indeed.

Was very friendly but my friends meal was overcooked off chef special they came to apologise and said they would rectifie bill by knocking of our to 1/2 lager we had to start with but then was left feeling uncomfortable as we only had table for 2 hrs they were cleaning and clearing around us so we left

Had the Sunday roast.2 x Roast beef which comes with a huge yorkie. Can only say superb dinner, service was great . We couldnt manage a pudding as completely full . Shame as I would have tried the cheesecake. Only little gripe from me would be , it could come with some extra gravey, although Im sure it wouldnt have been any trouble if I asked . If we are back in this area again , we will be back.

I took my husband for his 50th birthday meal while we were on holiday in the area. This meal was by far the best we ve had in a long time. I had the duck and my husband had the sirloin steak. All the food was very tasty, I would definitely recommend. We took our dogs, all the members of staff were super friendly and loved meeting our dogs. Thank you

Highly recommend the gem of a find most definately worth a visit. food was outstanding in fact excellent!!! Fish Pie was very very tasty and packed with fresh fish very delicious plus the accompanying veg. Partner had seafood tagliatelle which was one of the nicest dishes hes had in a long time (very high praise coming from him lol) with amazingly tasty garlic bread. In my opinion you wouldnt be disappointed

Extensive menu. Good food and friendly staff, great portion sizes and reasonably priced. Not five stars from us as on our visit, there was little room between tables despite booking in advance. Definitely worth a visit though.

Booked a meal here for a Saturday night, due to the market in town it took us longer to get there. Phoned to inform them and were told to get there when we could. We eventually got there and were seated with no fuss even though they were busy. We would like to thank the staff for accommodating us even though it was our fault. Also the food was really good, would recommend the fish pie.

Mixed experience here. Got recommended by a local to go under the guise of easy, well priced pub food. Kinda did that and not much else. Bar area was small and if you hadn t booked you were lucky to get a table and there wasn t much space in the serving area anyway? Only serving food from 12-3 & 5.30-8.30 which is a new experience. But the bartender let us stay in the bar and wait till food was being served which was nice. From us ordering food to it being put on the table was really good, didn t have to wait that long. However upon eating, it seemed as though the veggie option was a frozen meal that was reheated - nothing particularly special about the cranberry Wellington and the veg that came with it gave boil in a bag vibes. No seasoning or anything just in a tray served plain. Potatoes weren t particularly amazing either. No butter or salt topping or garnishes or anything. Would have expected something. Not anything amazing, just something. Curry was good, not very spicy or amazing, but was edible. Glad I ordered some chips (which came late and staff had to be nudged to go grab) as the rice portion was very small for the amount curry served. Great naan bread though (if not again, very small). Prices were to be expected considering we re in the North but otherwise nothing amazing. Vegetarian options: Loads of veggie (not just fish) options.

Amazing Sunday lunch, yorkies even beat mine, veg just right. Lovely service by staff. Just one issue which didnt affect star rating but worth a mention, booked a month prior, any specific requirements box I added need space for well behaved large golden retriever, unfortunately in a doorway to dining area so she was moved at least 25 times. But apart from that well done all deserve 5 *****

Very poor service, crazily busy for at least half an hour when we arrived took half an hour to place an order. On the plus side, generous portions, excellent lamb shank and Cumberland sausage (but the mash and side vegetables were poor) and excellent real ale. Definitely a mixed bag, possibly much better not on a July Friday night

I had high hopes for The Pheasant Inn after seeing it on Rick Steves but it was a disappointing experience for me. The food (at least what I ate) was bland near flavorless and the pheasant was so tough I could barely cut it with a steak knife. Almost all of the customers I saw there were older, so perhaps this establishment caters to that demographic which would explain the flavors and textures of the food. On the bright side, the service is good and attentive, and I happily gave a tip to the hard-working servers.

We went for my Mums Birthday Meal. Sat down at the table then had to order at the Bar as no one came to take our order, when the food came we all started eating and i found a long hair in my food, when mentioned to staff no apology was given to start and only when mentioned while paying was a blunt sorry given. The food replaced but not before everyone else had finished! Other comments from everyone were the food was bland and lacked little things that would of made the meals more appealing. For the price it was all very lacking in food quality and service, will not be returning for any food here again.

We had Sunday lunch here today and were thoroughly impressed. We both had the chicken and it was delicious. The Yorkshire puddings were outstanding! The staff were very friendly and efficient. Well definitely be back.

We booked here for our final dinner whilst on holiday in the Lake District and The Pheasant Inn did not disappoint! Such a lovely little local pub with amazing food; our roast dinners were perfect with the biggest Yorkshire puddings we have ever seen! The only thing we needed was more stomach room :D

Great little pub with freindly staff and lovely food and big portions. Very busy but they managed to fit us in . Meal served quickly and was great value. We decided to sit on the terrace which was a good idea as it was packed with many reserved signs inside. The food was excellent and the service friendly and quick (considering it was Sunday lunchtime).

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Pheasant Inn - we dined there twice during our stay in Keswick. Great welcome, excellent service & amazing food. We particularly enjoyed the seafood tagliatelle, pheasant, duck & fish pie. Wouldnt hesitate in recommending, best to book ahead as it gets really busy, also dog friendly. The restaurant is extremely well organised with plenty of staff - well done

We booked which I think was a good thing as it was really busy on a Thursday teatime. Its slightly outside the centre but you could walk it and if you drive its quite limited on parking. Good choice of quality food, tasty and a lovely busy atmosphere. Although tables are close together, so cosy. Parking: We parked opposite which isnt technically theirs but the business was closed and they said we were ok there.

I had the Cumberland Sausage Ring with Mash and my wife had the Fish Pie, both were fabulous. The look and feel of a traditional Lake District pub with the added benefit of delicious reasonably priced food. It was very busy so youll definitely need to book.

It came so highly recommended, I wanted it to be so much better! Beef was tough and not great. Some vegetables were good. The mushroom bruschetta was amazing! Make a reservation!

One of the best in Lake District

Food here was of a very high standard and well presented. Mushroom soup was bursting with mushrooms and was one of the best mushroom soups I ever had. The main of pheasant was also very good with dophinoise potatoes crisp and tasty and the pheasant tender and full of flavour. Service was good and the setting if slightly old fashioned is warm and cozy. Highly recommended!

Another great night at the pheasant, the service was spot on and the food was excellent and plentiful. Cant recommend the pheasant enough.

Lovely character pub in Keswick. The crowded but cosy interior has an open fire and good selection of real ales (including their own brew, The Pheasant). Both our meals were delicious. Outside there is good on-street parking if needed. Dog friendly.

Had a week stay in keswick and the food was so good we visited twice, my swordfish was to die for and the Pheasant golden ale was amber nectar! Bring on March 2025!

Fantastic atmosphere and amazing quality food..beware..huge portions!

Food was really disappointing, chicken Pie was absolutely drowning in this white sauce which killed it. Chips were not nice. Steak was dry and tough. The pub is nice but the food really, really let it down, service okay but took 45 minutes for our main meal after starters. A couple of hundred spent - definitely not good value RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS NOTE BELOW: When someone is kindly paying for an expensive meal its not appropriate to complain to them and leave them feeling bad about the situation. I hope that explains - The review is genuine, I stand by the review the food was poor, ignore it and try make out that its not a genuine review or listen and act to genuine feedback.

Absolute 10/10 service, food and atmosphere. We have had a lovely evening, our meals were all delicious and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely return in the future, thank you!

Fantastic meal. Pub was a little cramped and squashed in, I couldnt really get my legs under the table. We had a great time until I went to pay and was met with a weird comment from I assume the owner. Who on seeing we only had 2 mains and 2 soft drinks made a comment along the lines of Hardly worth booking a table. The restaurant wasnt fully booked, there were empty tables the entire time we were there so were hardly taking up other customers tables. We were driving so not drinking. We had no interest in the starters and after our plates were cleared we werent offered dessert menus so decided to pay and have something later. Also it was way too hot in there for me to stay much longer and before someone comes back to say our usual customers want it like that I agree every customer is different so then there shouldnt be weird arrogant comments when you go to pay if youve only decided to have 2 mains. Shame to end our nice visit like that.

Sunday Roast. Great staff. Lovely food... and plenty of it. The roast chicken lunch was the best Ive eaten for a long time. Always visit the Pheasant when we visit Keswick and it always lives up to my expectations.

Good food, friendly staff, dogs allowed in the bar area not dining areas (carpeted areas). Its a little cramped but makes for a friendly atmosphere. Lovely looking sun terrace, which will try if we get a sunny day.

Great venue not in middleof Keswick. Small but beautifully set out, with plenty of atmosphere, diners and walkers, for the Lakes. Really friendly and happy staff working hard. Plenty of choice on menu from starters to desert and portions plentiful. We visited 5.30 evening so quieter, really busy later so do book well in advance.

Wow!!! this was our first visit to the Pheasant Inn, the food was beautiful, the service was amazing and the pub was clean and so friendly and welcoming, every single member of staff were kind and helpful. I had the best steak I have had in years and they were very careful to suitably cater to our gluten free requirements. just got back from a walking trip with my mate and after visiting keswick for over 20 years have never eaten in this pub which is such a shame as the food and service was the best i have eaten in keswick and good sized fresh home made portions and will be booking up when visiting again in a couple of months

A very popular pub/restaurant which requires booking in advance if you want to make sure of a table. It is all worth it for the good food and reasonable prices.

They were all booked up, unsurprisingly, but there was room outside on the terrace so we took it. I was told we are very busy, food may well be 30mins.. it arrived in 10 to 15mins I reckon, although I was not watching the clock, and it tasted great. Very generous portions and great value for money. Would definitely drop by again when I am next in Keswick.

Nice old fashioned pub Sunday lunch was awful

Felt rushed, staff busy and surly , reminded had 2 hour reservation twice even though had only been there for hour and a half. Resting on its previous laurels.

We live in Keswick so have been to lots of places to eat , this Pub food is at the top of my list . Fresh food all homemade and fresh vegetables, the chips are real and not frozen which is rare today . The staff are really help full and friendly. We give it five stars and believe me I am a fussy vegetarian. My husband had the steak and ale pie .

Went for lunch after bumping into Landlady Michelle elsewhere the day before. Had a very tasty pie (proper pie with pastry all round!) and some very well served beer . Went back for dinner last night and had another pie, followed by a glorious Pavlova for pudding

This was the BEST meal we had in Keswick! After being very much let down by the low quality food and extortionate prices in the main square, this pub was a breathe of fresh air. The atmosphere, service and food especially were outstanding. The Lakeland Henry lamb and sticky toffee pudding were fabulous, and even the Thai fish cakes were unexpectedly delicious. Would 100% come again.

Excellent food good beer......book a table just do it......

Wonderful dining experience; although booked to capacity our main courses were served piping hot within ten minutes of ordering. I would personally recommend the Lakeland lamb served on baby spinach, with a rosemary & cranberry jus .......... heaven on a plate. The dessert of lemon posset with shortbread was nothing short of spectacular either Book ahead, and if possible park on the opposite side of the road to the pub (although spaces are limited).

Nice little place, good food. Plenty of outdoor seating. Dogs welcome.

We had an excellent meal in this delightful pub. It s cosy and charmingly old fashioned inside. The food was delicious, thoughtfully presented, and a cut above traditional pub grub, but still reasonably priced. All the staff who waited on us were friendly and attentive. We would definitely eat here again.

Very popular pub just outside the center of Keswick, 10 minutes walk through the park. We had the fish pie and the fried pork steaks, a special, and these were very tasty and a sufficient portion. For the beer lover, try the pheasant ale on tap. The pub was fully booked but the service was friendly and efficient. Reservations a few days in advance are recommended. A must for us in Keswick

I dont normally write reviews but felt compelled to do this. We are on holiday in the Lake District and ate dinner tonight at The Pheasant. The food was truly remarkable. It was beautifully cooked and the portions very generous. The staff were very attentive without being pushy and lovely to chat with and the surroundings were very homely. Family all had Lamb Henry whilst I ate the venison. Sticky toffee pudding to follow. If youre in the Lake District you must eat here. Quite honestly, by far the best meal Ive eaten out in a long time. So good we re- booked for tomorrow!

Great traditional pub on the edge of Keswick near Fitz Park. Squeezed a lot of people in for dinner so tight for space but great atmosphere and service and the food was excellent. Save room for the cheesecake!!!!

Super pub. Very very busy, so best to book in advance for a table. Would have been 5 stars, but we were let down with the sweets.. both were late with incorrect topping... We put this down to them being super busy. They came back, having had the toppings replaced but reheated in the microwave and turned them into bricks. A real shame

What a bad experience. We arrived for our restaurant booking to be seated and then few minutes later asked to leave our table and relocated to the pub (stools) seating area. We were not explained why, however am guessing they have overbooked and we had to go with this. We placed our food order of starter and main, to find out what that upon serving us the starter it wasnt what was announced. The start was soup of the day - which was supposed to be leek & thyme however turned out that wasnt the soup of the day and we got served spiced tomato soup. My husband isnt fond of tomato soup, so I had to finish that. 1hr later we were still waiting for our mains. Do not recommend this place, as food isnt as delicious as it sounds like reading the menu, and the service is just careless dont-care-attitude). What a joke.

We have been coming here every summer for years and always look forward to this treat. However tonight I was bitterly disappointed with my usual beef madras. Ot was chewy and I was unable to eat most of the meat. When we asked for the bill, I asked the lady of there was a new chef and continued to tell her why. She told me she owns the establishment and they have needed to buy the beef from elsewhere. No offer for a refund despite sending most of the meat back and complaining. However, my husband enjoyed his lamb as usual. I came home and enjoyed a cheese sandwich! Very disappointed.

Booked a table as we suspected it may be busy. Arrived to a full restaurant but was greeted warmly and politely. Chose from the vegetarian options, and was not disappointed. Amazing dishes served piping hot & in good time. Polite staff, excellent wines & great atmosphere. Highly recommend the Wellington or the risotto - best Ive ever tasted. Happy customers! I was holding on reviewing this place as everyone may have a bad day, but after reading their response to my partners review falsely stating that we brought a dog in (we dont have a dog), I now proceed with my review: We arrived at the place 5 mins ahead of our booked time, got seated by the staff in the dining area, got handled some menus and, while we were reading the menu, we got asked by two different members of the staff if we had booked the dinner or just seated there as we were sitting on other clients table. When we pointed out that we also got a booking and that another waiter seated us there, they apologised and said that the table belonged to other clients, making us move to the bar area. In their response, they accused us of bringing a dog. I will repeat: We dont own a dog, and we didnt show up in the dining area with a dog. They just didnt have a free table for us and made us get up and go to the bar. We got served a different soup from the one we were told when ordering. When we talked with the staff about it (we did, as a red leak soup seemed odd), we were told that the leak soup was finished, so we got served tomato. Now comes the best: The time between the starter and the mains. They say an hour was an over-exaggeration. We were sitting there, reading a book, planning our next day, and trying to distract ourselves from the ridiculous time we had to wait for our mains to show up. It was well over 30 minutes (I calculate it was between 30 minutes and an hour, given the time we managed to eat and leave). The food was ok. Its nothing special but decent. The staff was polite and apologetic, but the experience was a disaster. Now feel free to say that we brought a dog or a unicorn and that the ridiculous waiting time between dishes was only in our head (and other peoples heads complaining behind us), or make up any other excuse instead of a we simply had a bad day, sorry about that. Mistakes happen. Not owning them and throwing lies to cover them is disgraceful.

Excellent proper pub grub in a Friendly atmosphere

We happened to go at a bad time, but it was easy to see how much better it would normally be.

1st night in Keswick, and we had to come back to the Pheasant Inn. We came across it last year on our last night, and we had a fantastic meal, so we said we would come back whenever were in Keswick. Tonight didnt disappoint. Great ales , great food and fantastic staff who cant do enough for you. It was really busy as usual, but the food came out after a short wait. Its dog friendly in the bar area too .We Love this place and will always return. Best place in Keswick.

The Pheasant Inn is a traditional pub/restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were a party of four visiting for a meal on a busy early Sunday evening (booking definitely recommend). The service was attentive and friendly. The food is very tasty and we would have no problem recommending our choices which were, Mediterranean Risotto, Cumberland Sausage and Venison bourguignon. They serve evening specials in addition to the main menu. There are vegetarian choices and the pub is dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Great oldie world pub. It gets very busy, so if you want food you need to book. Plenty of outdoor seating available. We had a family meal and the food was amazing. Try the lamb, best ive had. Only a short walk from the centre of Keswick.

Booked table for 6 for 7 30pm. Arrived and got seated on time. Placed our orders. Waited 45 mins and waiter informed us soup we ordered wasnt available!!. Ordered substitute. Not all of us wanted starters!!!!. Starters came 8 25pm. Main course came 8 45pm. One member of party had to leave at 9pm. So they had to rush meal down!! A lot of time waiting but got less time to eat and enjoy meal!!!. Get organised!!!. £16 for steak pie chips and veg and 15 mins to eat it!!!

Waited well over an hour for our food (in spite of having pre-booked a time & pre-ordered food)! No garlic bread or other snacks offered in the meantime. I had the beef Madras curry and it was very average, have had better from my local Indian takeaway.

Great little pub with a lovely homely atmosphere. Ive been here numerous times now and always walk away feeling satisfied. The service is pretty good, but a smile now and again from the servers wouldnt go a miss. Over our time visiting this place we are seeing the portion sizes shrink, and costs rising. £8 for a dessert is quite expensive for what you get. But overall a great 4 star rating

Food was excellent, no complaints there. Unfortunately my wife was cold in a draft and where we were seated was a bit cramped. I would definitely go again, but ask for a different table.

Weve been to the pheasant Inn on previous holidays in the lake district. Only for drinks, this time we thought about booking a Sunday lunch. This we did and the gentleman behind the bar was extremely helpful and found us a space for us and two dogs. The roast chicken was fantastic served with lovely vegetables. The Yorkshire pushing was to die for. We both enjoyed our lunch so much we decided to try and book for the following night (tonight) for a meal. Again the gent behind the bar was extremely helpful and found us a table that again was dog friendly. We both ordered the venison, WOW what was served was a gift from heaven, very generous portions, lovely vegetables. Really couldnt complain if we tried. So next Sunday our roast is already booked. Everything in the Pheasant Inn, is what you want. Friendly and helpful staff, food arriving prompt and the quality is something else. If you are in the Keswick area, youve got to try this place. We can promise you that you will not walk away disappointed. We really would advise to call in and book, both visits so far and the Inn has been packed full of diners. What a gem as you enter Keswick. Staff friendly even funny. Food was amazing, I chose Venison Bourginion for main - wow packed full of lean meat.

Another 5 star pub, a must for Keswick walkers. Excellent ale form a good range, including their own Pheasant Ale. Weve eaten the excellent food before but no time this visit. But well be back.

If you are eating they look after you. But if you go in just for a drink be prepared to wait. They say its dog friendly I totally disagree.

We tried their signature fish pie, which was a bit disappointing: the fish mixture was watery and the mash was dry. The burguignon was on the salty side. But it s still good value. The sticky toffee pudding on the other hand was amazing and definitely worth a try.

Love this place. A great choice of food all served pipingly hot. Always the standard menu plus a specials board. Really friendly and attentive staff who work so efficiently in a busy environment. The best pub in Keswick for food by far.

Would highly recommend this place for food if you are on Keswick. The Camembert starter and Lamb Henry main was The Turkey Christmas special was lovely too with hospitality being a bonus. Definitely will revisit for a Sunday roast!

Very disappointed with the whole experience. We had booked a table a month in advance. It was very busy, tables were tightly packed together. We waited over 40 mins to be served, we had to ask a couple of times where it was. When it arrived the roast beef was very stringy/grainy, the roast potatoes & pigs in blankets were very overcooked, the mash was tasteless, not the creamy buttered mash on the menu. The 3 stars are for the serving staff who were excellent, friendly and apologetic.
