Barua Street food is a brand new venue IN THE HEART OF KESWICK for great Tasting, INDIAN STREET FOOD MADE FROM SCRATCH!
Amazing food! Lots of vegan / veggie options too, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Three of us ate here one Wednesday evening during early November. I hadn't pre-booked, and we were fortunate enough to get a table, We had 9 dishes between us, which was plenty. The food was very tasty and well presented. Together with drinks, the bill was £100. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing a good service. We prefer non chain establishments, and this certainly fits the criteria. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and is a cafe during the day! It was a great place to visit.
Called for dinner as most of the menu is vegan friendly as they use vegan butter, yogurts, so plenty of choice. Vegan wines are labelled too so we ordered a bottle of a German Riesling, mixed nuts, butter corn, masala dosa, chickpea chole, cauliflower sabji and basmati rice. The food was delicious and plenty of it, we were full and could not manage any vegan ice cream even. They even had a vegan mango lassi available. We would highly recommend Barua.
My husband and I came here Friday night with our puppy. The food was outstanding, we wish we had room for more, and the service was 10/10. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Wish we didn’t live so far away so we can visit again soon.
Outstanding in every way, beautiful decor, the nicest staff and the best food! We had a range of dishes and each one was excellent, will be dreaming about the garlic paratha and the mango lassi posset! Cannot wait to be back
Amazing food, great cocktails, smart interior and brilliant service. I would highly recommend this place for the food is diviine. We all enjoyed it. The staff can help.you if you are unsure what to order.as it is all designed to be shared as a table. So delicious 😋 ii
Truly incredible. Complete taste sensation. All dishes work amazingly with each other which is impressive as it’s a small plates multi dish setup, a well thought out menu, in my opinion. Atmosphere was really great and chilled and the staff were brilliant, friendly while very knowledgeable about their dishes. I can’t impressive enough how tasty the food was. Full of flavour while being balanced. Also I had one of there cocktails which was on par with their food. Innovative flavourful balanced!
A great find! I love Indian street food, and it really shows that the owners are very enthusiastic about it too! The paratha was so light and flaky and the fish curry really delicious. The waiter was lovely and really helpful. I liked the selection of dishes on offer and there were some good cocktails as well!
Absolutely excellent. Impeccable service, done with huge care. Food is top notch, really well considered and put together.
The staff were friendly , very knowledgeable about menu and made us feel comfortable , really laid back and at home . The menu is just right not too much choice but enough to cover all tastes. Then the food ! Best we have had , fresh generous portions and divine flavors . Thank you so much , the team deserve to do well . See you again x
The whole ethos of this is fantastic! The food, atmosphere, staff and price! Highly recommended.
The best Indian street food I have outside India (better than hyped up London places). The dahi puri and dosa were particular highlights. Lovely staff too who were happy to explain menu items.
Never attended ,I was told I could bring my wee dog in , then went back in to be told there was no space it was booked ??? Very unprofessional
Dietary restrictions: Vegan options available Food
Delicious food Great choice Wonderful staff Food : 5/5
Good food, good atmosphere. Tapas style Indian food. Food
Second time here and just as great as the first fantastic authentic street food
Best Indian outside London - a very welcome surprise
Amazing food, very different experience but wonderful all round, smaller plates but amazing taste. Great service from both bar and waiting staff. Would highly recommend for a lovely evening out.
Unbelievable food - best Indian I have ever been to 11/10
Amazing fresh innovative food!
Nice ruby
Fantastic food and beer, lovely staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Even better than the daytime when its lake road brunch. Highly recommend
Very tasty food! The service was friendly enough but some (not all) of the staff seemed like they were not very present.
Service fantastic, food fantastic too.
Bloody excellent. Highly recommended.
Stylish little restaurant, with great, modern Indian food. Its a really good place to try some new dishes, you probably never had before! Some of the dishes are really spicy though, so if you have problems with thats better ask the staff about it, as it is not labeled in the menu. Great place for vegans as well, since about half the menu is vegan! Vegetarian options: About half the menu is vegetarian (and most of it vegan as well). The waiters also know exactly whats inside where, so you can ask them when in doubt (even though its clearly labeled anyway)
Great flavours and dishes I wouldnt normally get to try. Thank you.
Kaylee was very helpful and went through most of the menu. Had amazing service Really enjoyed our meal Food was really tasty and fresh. Thank you
Came for the first time the other weekend. Had booked in advance and was plenty of times available.. also dog friendly Food was amazing, lots of options available. Staff were also really nice and welcoming Food
Amazing, tasty food. Would definitely recommend! The staff were attentive and the vibe was there :)
We visited Barua for authentic Indian food. The atmosphere was good with vibrant but simplistic design. The service was great and we were given good service. The food fell short of our expectations. Fresh parathas, chicken skewers without tomato sauce and bigger portions would have made a big difference
The best Indian I ve ever had! I d really recommend the Masala Pad Pad. Great service. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant offers tables at ground level.
Absolutely first class food and great range of cocktails well priced! Well be back before leaving Keswick
Delicious cocktails and food! Just in town for one night, but would definitely come back next time we are in Keswick!
Barua Street Food - excellent authentic Indian food in Keswick. We didnt have a reservation, we arrived at opening time, they gave us a table, explained the food and it was served as it was being cooked. Really good quality and nice service. If youre not sure what to order, just ask and they will explain it. Good selection of wines and drinks with two draft beers too. Its popular so best to make a reservation online or by phone. Thanks, we really enjoyed it.
Great atmosphere, bad food. If you are Indian or know what Indian food is DO NOT come here. It s like what someone would create if they saw a picture of Indian food but had no other clues as to what it was.
Absolutely outstanding food at Barua . The flavours they put together are unbelievable and everything tastes so fresh . Service and vibe is 5 star . You can book online so don t pass this place by!
Some of the best Indian street food I ve had & I ve been to Indian. Great atmosphere & service. I highly recommend.
Just wow. One of the best lunches I have ever had. My friends and I stopped here for lunch after pottering around Keswick and were greeted with kind, friendly staff, and immaculate vibes. Would hurry back and recommend to anyone!
Fabulous food, so unexpected in Keswick, a bit on the pricey side but well worth it. Im Indian, and I was pleasantly surprised with this place, if you are in Keswick I can heartily recommend this restaurant, you will NOT be disappointed.
The food here was first rate and the service was friendly and efficient. It did get busy quickly though so I would suggest booking ahead. Vegetarian options: A good selection of vegetarian dishes.
The menu is limited and out of the limited menu, a number of items were unavailable. The service was friendly but slow. All those problems are probably okay for a new restaurant. However, the quality of the food was not acceptable and the numerous five star reviews beggar belief. The starters were dripping in oil and were greasy. Some of them such as the corn cob had a pungent topping that made it inedible. Parathas were re-heated frozen parathas you can buy off the market. The dessert (gulab jamun) was a ready to eat product, available in the market as well. Why would you eat out and pay double the price for something you can buy off the shelf? Indian food is definitely not what is served here.
Splendid food and service. Small plates of light, tasty and aromatic street food style Indian. A refreshing change from BIR style food. Delicate dishes without any of the grease typically found in BIR food. Great cocktails. Dhosas, Parathas and samosas were top notch. Good meat options but you will also have a fantastic meal if you re vegan/vegetarian. Chill vibe to the place and good value. Vegetarian options: Menu is very clearly labelled and tilted towards vegetarian food (which a lot of authentic Indian food is). There were enough really good meat options to satisfy the carnivore however. I m a carnivore but I was very happy and satisfied.
Super Indian inspired street food. Really great veggie options and the Vada Pav is something you need to have at least once! Really great food, atmosphere, serice, and will be a staple everytime I visit Keswick.
Arrived earlier than expected, and we were made welcome and had drinks whilst waiting for the kitchen to open. Guided well with the venue by a great owner and lovely serving ladies. The dishes were spiced with a very delicate hand, and as a result all the freshly made food was devine, and I cook curries from scratch. Food to aspire too Vegetarian options: Vegetarian, gluten free and loads of vegan options. Could easily eat all vegan options and as a meat eater leave VERY content. Dietary restrictions: All clearly labelled on the menu. Order with confidence.
Great service and lovely food and vibe.
Highly recommend, great food and service!
absolutely impeccable service and atmosphere and food quality was amazing definitely one of the best restaurants Ive been to
Went here as part of a group of 10. Interesting and lively place with very efficient and friendly service. Food was tasty and enjoyed by most( the meat eaters weren t completely happy ) Portions definitely on the stingy side, each dish seemed about 3 spoonfuls. Why not be over generous on rice and breads?!? Very expensive for what you get and advise customers to get some chips on the way.
Ate here as a family of four on a Friday evening - great atmosphere, very friendly staff and very tasty food and drink
Great selection of really tasty food. Everything was excellent but would recommend the Onion Bhaji and Goan Fish.
Gorgeous food and perfect service.
If you want something very different in Keswick, this is the place. A real sensation for the taste buds, fantastic flavours. Can t wait to return
Had a great time at barua the food was amazing and staff lovely! Really helpful explained everything really well! Plus some great wine that complimented the food really well! Couldn t recommend enough!
Great food. As a big group we tried everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Service was great too. Great addition to Keswick, cant fault it. Food
Well what a very special place. Totally unexpected and incredible food. Even though we had no idea what some of the things on the menu were, we were blown away by the incredible tastes and freshness of the food and the entire idea of the place. We live in a ski resort in the french Alps and found this little eden unlike any other. Taste everything, is my only advice! We had a table of six and ordered everything tapas style and shared. The food is stunning and service is wonderful. An absolute must go to in the area!! Vegetarian options: Vegan and veggie options, plus spice level can be altered as needed!! Dietary restrictions: So many veggie and vegan options
The food was brilliant from this new restaurant. Each dish used fresh ingredients and tasted superb. Service was attentive and timely. We had a great experience!
Just fantastic. Think of it as Indian tapas . Order a load of small dishes for the whole table to share and you won t be disappointed. The Dahi Puri, Tarka Dahl and the masala pad pad are all particularly delicious. Great work guys!!! Vegetarian options: Most of the menu is vegetarian
Truly mouth-watering tapas!
Shared several dishes, just my husband and I. Very tasty food and a lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff too. Would definitely recommend. I had the fish curry, loved it
Delicious meal, very knowledgeable, wonderful waiters and service, and all round amazing atmosphere! Much better option than bland pub food
Absolute taste explosion of food! I can t wait to go back and try some more! Vegetarian options: Most of the options were Vegan Food : 5/5 |
Lovely place, friendly staff, fantastic tasy food. Was a real surprise to find really excellent South Indian food in Keswick. Vegetarian options: Nearly all vegetarian, which really suited us.
Had a great meal. I think I was expecting a similar size masala dosa to the day menu so was a little disappointed But all good perhaps needs saying as I realise it s all street food style so smaller. Thanks Vegetarian options: All good More vegi dishes the better Dietary restrictions: Good vegan choices more the better
Top notch food/drinks and service! What s place
Fabulous street food with exciting and original ideas. We loved it.
Vegetarian options: Plenty to choose from Food
Really lovely and unusual food. Just a bit noisy at points.
Absolutely delicious food. A great range (our group consisted of one vegetarian, one pescatarian and one meat eater) and everyone enjoyed every dish they ate. Plus a friendly, family-run business. Just a great experience. Food
Absolutely lush food and cocktails, so good weve booked again next week. Taste sensation. See you again soon Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options available
Tasty food, great service, lovely location to people watch.
Banging tunes ngl. Food decent, and service rapid. Vegetarian options: As a vegan there were options si senor. Food : 5/5 |
Exceptionally good food.
A wonderful experience.
Amazing food, loved it
Beautiful food full of flavour and fantastic service. Would absolutely recommend. Vegetarian options: Great for vegans and vegetarians
Amazing food, great service, everyone visiting Keswick should go!
Amazing food and fantastic service. Would recommend!
The food was amazing, well presented and delious. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Was made very welcome. Definitely be visiting again.
Food presentation was fabulous, taste of the food was flavourful but not wow, their was not much choice of meat on the menu only 3 dishes and some dishes overdone. dishes were mainly veggie than meat.. service was brilliant as always, bit slow with drinks but as expected on a busy night. unfortunately wasn t too impressed for the first try but we tried it and wasn t to our taste, and that s ok. Will stick to the breakfasts!
Lovely place - v interesting and excellent quality food. Friendly efficient service.
Recommended by a Keswick local & did not dissapoint. Great South Indian food for sharing. Excellent cocktails!
I love South Indian food so this has been on my to do list for some time. Went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere. Great to have something a bit different in the town. The kids loved it. We ll be back. Food
Delicious modern street food experience Dietary restrictions: Great non gluten ingredients choices Food : 5/5 |
Authentic Indian street food flavours here in Keswick. Chicken Xacuti as good as any you could find in Goa. Vegetarian options: Good
A little gem of a place. We had 5 sharing platters between us (me and hubby) and all of them were lovely. Pani Puri (taste explosion) onion bhaji, masala dosa, xacuti chicken, lamb keema curry and rice. Service was excellent and a lovely buzzing atmosphere. Oh and a couple of cocktails too. Would recommend if you visit Keswick.
Absolutely loved our meal and experience we will definitely go again and highly recommend you pay a visit
Ive eaten at Barua multiple times since its opened and had a fantastic experience each and every time. The team are really friendly and welcoming and the food is so full of flavour, I absolutely love everything on the menu. I cant recommend eating here enough, its a must visit for locals and visitors to Keswick. Thank you Barua...
We had a delicious meal, very authentic and high quality, the atmosphere was buzzing too.
My partner and I stumbled upon this unexpected gem of a restaurant last night after a day spent hiking over Catbells. They ve only been open three months, and I was really impressed by the team s passion. The dahi puri and pani puri were truly truly exquisite, and the restaurant was packed with very happy diners. If I m in Keswick again, I will definitely eat here. I wish you every success for the future.
This was a delicious meal - the perfect way to try lots of dishes, all amazing. I particularly loved the pani puri and the tarka dahl. Great for vegans as 2/3 of the menu is vegan! Vegetarian options: All vegetarian options are also vegan
Great food, service and vibe!
Lovely little spot, bringing something different to Keswick. The menu is a lot of fun and very tasty. Great service and a nice atmosphere
Fantastic experience, weve eaten at LRB a few times and loved it so we were excited to see them offering an evening street food menu and were certainly not disappointed. Great food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere with plenty of vegan and veggie options on the menu which suited us well. We spoke to Sam, one of the owners, and he was so welcoming as were all the staff. Highly recommended!
We have eaten at LRB for brunch numerous times and it is fantastic. The vegan options are amazing but this was our first time at Barua for Indian street food. We were not disappointed! The menu is amazing. Lots of vegan options and staff, as always, so welcoming. We got chatting to Sam, one of the owners, over breakfast at LRB the next morning. What a wonderful passionate man he is. We will always love it here. An incredible restaurant in beautiful Keswick.
Really delicious food that is beautifully presented and full of different tastes and flavours. Menu has a good range with a chicken and lamb dish that were amazing. Service was excellent, totally recommend this place.
We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food here. The service was great and they recommended 5/6 dishes as sufficient. We ordered 6 and being vegetarian (and hungry) possibly could have done with a few more carbohydrates, we ordered another portion of paratha. Were well acquainted with southern Indian cuisine and whilst this may not be 100% authentic, it is pretty good. We really enjoyed the dosa, daal and chole The drinks selection was also very good. Overall a great night out. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian dishes, of the 3 main curry options, 2 were veggie: chole and daal.
Fancied a change from the busy pubs in Keswick and went here mid week. We booked and glad we did as they were pretty full. As we had ordered a large (30ish) party came in, that we think was larger than the restaurant had expected. Whilst they coped well, we did have to wait a little while to get dirty plates cleared and pay our bill. Food was great, no complaints, we had Pani Puri and Dahi Puri from the cold selection. Both lovely. We then had Butter Butter Corn, Onion Bhajis, and the Chole with some rice and a paratha to share. I could eat the corn all day, it was divine. We cook Chole a lot so nice to get a different take on it, was yummy. Would definitely recommend and we will be back. Vegetarian options: Menu is mostly vegetarian.
5 stars is not enough for this dining experience. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They were very knowledgeable on their food which helped us decide what we would order. My only complaint... We were too full to enjoy the last course Most definitely going back on our next visit to Keswick. Vegetarian options: Indian Street food with a flair! Parking: 2 large car parks close by which are free in the evenings
Varied menu selections. Starter had too much coriander/cilantro on it for my liking. And the spice on top was too much making it very salty to taste. Had a curry as well and it tasted good.
Good quality Indian street food
Simply awesome! The second time we have been and fresh exciting food, superb service and a great atmosphere abundant! Well done team. Vegan specialty authentic flavours and some super surprises. The Vada Pav burgers were one of the best things I ve ever eaten. Wish I could give 10 stars
This place is essential for any visit to Keswick if youre looking for a unique and thoroughly enjoyable modern food experience. This place has become an institution to locals and a favourite to tourists, I only wish id visited sooner!
Worst place I have ever been cant even try to explain shocking sums it up
Very refreshingly different Indian food. A really fabulous hit to the taste buds! Certainly unique in the area, with Service with a smile, and a good price point, well definitely be back. Keep up the good work!
