No Table Booking required, Walk ins only
Adequate food even for pub food. We ordered lasagne which wasn't too bad but the Cumberland sausage was not great. It was quite bland with a rubbery texture. Half of it was eaten as we were hungry. When the young bar tender asked if all was OK, we simply replied,"It was alright". He then repeated, "it was alright, you've eaten half of it"'as he then walked away. He was quite rude and we felt our opinion didn't really matter. Perhaps a bit of training with hospitality skills would be beneficial. We left disappointed.
Very busy day in Keswick as beautiful weather & the market was on. We stopped here when a table suddenly became available after looking around for some time to find somewhere to sit and eat. I had lasagne with chips and my husband had curry with rice. Both meals turned up so quickly! The lasagne was very hot which was nice but it was overcooked with very soggy pasta and it was quite a small portion. The garlic bread had hardly been toasted at all. The chips were ok. The curry had some nice chunks of chicken in it & a fair portion of rice. The prices seemed fair in today's climate. I don't think I'd eat there again but it's a nice pub for a drink in Keswick. Good atmosphere.
Staff were very helpful and friendly but the food wasn’t the best. Say it was prob on a par with wetherspoons if you like that standard. Decent array of beers.
To start the staff were so friendly and very nice people! The food we were told would be a 30 mins wait which we were fine with, starters came 30 mins later. After we had to ask the staff, the mains then came well over an hour after the starters, the burger had no flavour, the bun was hard, the chips were obviously frozen and the garlic bread was not cooked properly. Oh and I found a hair in my coleslaw which also didn’t taste very nice! Could never recommend this place for food, only if you’re having drinks as the staff are lovely.
What can I say... the food didn't rock my world if I have to be honest. We knew there will be a typical pub food but I hoped it'll be better. As a vegetarian I ordered halloumi burger, just to be safe, because I thought you can't do it wrong. I tried to take a good photo but no matter what angle I tried it wasn't impressive. I had one slice of tomato, some lettuce and four slices of halloumi. The cheese doesn't look amazing but it tasted OK. The bap wasn't from the top shelf but all together it tasted ok. Addition of caramelised onions or some sauces would be better, maybe mushrooms, something which would make it more exciting. Chips were good too. My husband's steak and ale pie was good.
Lovely English pub with yummy food to enjoying after doing the Therkeld to Keswick walk
Nice pub with good beer. Bar staff were friendly, atmosphere was good and beer worked a treat. Add to your list of pubs to visit whilst in town.
It's OK. Busy busy keswick on a Friday summer evening . This was the only place we could get in, sat out on the back area. Food took around 50 mins. The food was OK, no more no less. Not cheap, 3 stack burger or the 'mountain stack as they call it' and ham egg and chips. The ham egg and chips looked a bit miserable. Wasn't asked how the food was at any point.
Nice cosy pub in keswick good atmosphere.
Dog-friendly and nice little pub. Decent food and reasonable beer.
What on earth happened ??! My visit to Keswick in an age and amidst the maddening crowds, I spotted the Robinsons sign and like a magnet I was straight in for my first beer of the hols! Robinsons pubs are wonderful .but here, no cask :( Hugely over tapped with draught Madri (which is pretend Spanish beer, it s Carling with a bit of extra hop oil) and also draught Carling. Thankfully there was draught Guinness which was poured well. Bar staff were great, the beer offering was terrible. I m thinking/hoping it might have just been a delivery issue and we called on the wrong day but half term, town was packed? Don t let my review stop you from visiting this lovely pub - Im convinced it was merely a timing/delivery issue rather than the everyday standard offering!
Decent pub grub Traditional Pie and mash Vegetarian options: Very nice lasagne
Been for lunch today. Excellent service from a very funny barman, who made an excellent cup of tea.
Restaurant in Keswick with a nice atmosphere, a wide variety of craft beers to choose from, and delicious food. The restaurant in Keswick has a great atmosphere, offers a variety of craft beers, and serves delicious food. #TravellingAsACouple
Just had drinks friendly staff
SUPER dog friendly! Great food too. Vegetarian options: Veggie lasagne was great. Food : 5/5 |
Good selection of food however not home made. No tab at the bar do need to pay gor drinks and food separate. All other places were full apart from this one . Ok but not great
Great choice of beers food is good and honest pub food and reasonably priced
Called for lunch while visiting Keswick. Lovely meal, quick service. Would definitely revisit. Friendly staff.
Had better food in a Wetherspoons overpriced especially chicken burger come with two goujons on it no sauce and portion sizes were very small steak pie should have went to Greggs for a steak bake instead
Lovely place to eat, very friendly staff and lovely food.
I havent given any stars as we didnt eat here.bar service was very good as was the atmosphere..as good as the sign outside!made me giggle. .
Very nice, well kept pint of Robinsons Smooth
The service was shocking. They were very rude and disrespectful. The food was rock solid and awful. I would never ever recommend anyone to go there.
Very welcoming people and a good atmosphere! The food is not incredible but does the job
Lovely food and friendly staff
Bangin food, lovely atmosphere
Don t often leave reviews but feel I have to here Genuinely the worst burger I ve ever had in my life, bun was off and hard, burger poor quality and probably frozen, no salad. Not difficult at all to make a nice burger - I d be ashamed sending that out to people; and for £17
Friendly atmosphere, lovely traditional food. We saw the specials board too late so I recommend you check that out too. Great service.
Expensive for drinks
Great pub, beers are well kept and service is always friendly. Classic pub food done well and at reasonable prices.
Was a wet day in Keswick and was in early so wasnt busy. Food was lovely as were staff would definitely come back x
Staff were friendly service prompt food was good what more can i say. Place was clean and welcoming.
Great place
Nice pint of Guinness. Didn t eat but the burgers looked really nice.
shocking service by a Michael Smith dart player look a like we were going to get food but only saw him for 1 minute out of 25 while I was their. more interested in talking and smoking outside Service
Great little pub but very busy at times. We couldnt get a table to eat. Only drinks. The food was very appetizing by the looks of it.
Waiter (man on bar) started clearing my boyfriends plate as he had finished first and cutterly baskets when I was still eating my meal so rude. Food was average could be better 4th April visited
We visit Keswick a couple of times a year and there are some great options for food, but this pub really disappointed. We paid £15 for steak and ale pie, mash and veg, for that price you d normally expect properly prepared fresh food but we were served with instant mash, frozen vegetables and a pie we could have bought from Asda. The decor is nice and the lady serving was lovely but you can get far better food in Keswick for the same price.
The food is pretty good! It is a good option.
Was going to give 1 star, but upped it to two as the service was excellent. However the food was quite frankly...insulting. I ordered a cheeseburger which came with a side of chips and coleslaw and paid just shy of £17. The chips were obviously from a bag of frozen chips and the serving was tiny, the coleslaw was clearly store bought and the cheeseburger itself, the burger patty was cheap and wouldnt be surprised if it came frozen, wilted lettuce and a tiny slice of tomato. For £17 I would expect fresh cut chips, homemade slaw, fresh ground beef patty and plenty of fresh crisp salad on the burger. Oxford should put a photo of this meal in the dictionary next to the meaning of depressing.
Lady who served us was lovely , makes us want to come again , food was beautiful.
Nice first visit here. Just had two pints of perfectly poured Guinness. The service was equally perfect and we were made to feel very welcome by lovely Chris (Geordie guy with winning smile). He never stopped still for a minute. If we hadnt been there for only one night we would definitely have returned for more.
Good pub good food good staff. Straight out of car park very convienient.
Great cosy little place
Out of the many pubs in Keswick I had not been here. After a wet days walk we were greeted by the friendly guy behind the bar and felt welcomed in, good choice of beer and drinks. Had a decent menu choice of good hearty meals.
Brilliant visit here on Wednesday evening this last week. Great meal and atmosphere.
Dropped in for a bite to eat after a trip out on Derwent Water. Living in Grasmere we regularly visit Keswick and have visited a few times only for drinks but never food. That said, we decided to have a meal and were lucky to find a table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made my toddler feel welcome and excited for his chicken nuggets and chips. The tables were very sticky and I was grateful I had long sleeves I could pull down. My wife had the tomato and basil soup and sadly it was way too salty, which is saying a lot as she can be a salt fiend. I had a cheese burger with chips and slaw and found myself deeply unimpressed. A plain white bun not even toasted, thin disc burger with token cheese and some shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato. The presentation was alright but the dish just lacked a bit more care. The plus side was my boys meal which was a very good portion size and his eyes were bigger than his stomach that we brought some home for him. Id definitely go back for pint and bowl of chips again, but not much else. Parking: Plenty of pay and display parking options available in town, although Id recommend arriving early as it gets busy and finding a parking space could be tricky during peak times.
Fantastic service from Luke as usual, the only barman that remembers ours drinks months after being in the bar. Always cine back for the friendly service.
Great dog friendly pub. Cracking fire, just what we needed on a cold wet winters day. Staff so welcoming
Expensive pub. Quite an unfriendly barman. Wont be hurrying back.
Very quiet. Bar lady was nice
Cracking pub
Food was just ok, we were disappointed to be honest on this visit, have eaten there previously and were always happy, but this time the food was very average. Cumberland sausage with mash, with Bisto gravy, 3 bean chilli was just ok, just not what we were used to.. still a really nice friendly dog friendly pub which is worth a visit. Food
Did the job would be about the best I can muster. I did think wed evolved past the need for Oven Chips but our fish was good never the less. Pricey for what we had I thought even in the Lake District.
My favourite pub in Keswick.
Decent place for a spot of lunch, good selection of beers and pub fare menu hit the spot
Good, comfortable, friendly, good atmosphere had lunch also good.
Professional staff. Perfectly cold lager
Soup of the day was a cup a soup was vile. Does not even deserve a star. I paid good good money for a 35p a powerd soup never again place was dirty menus were all dirty AVOID
Excellent pub
Really friendly helpful and accommodating staff. We pop in everytime we visit Keswick.
Lovely food and lovely staff. Shame about there no longer being a pool table though.
Lovely pub, friendly staff and lovely food xx
A Robinsons pub, so obviously has excellent beer!
Good food and drink. Dog friendly and water for dog provided too
Always a great stop off when in town. Food is good and staff always friendly. Sometime struggle with getting a seat but that come with being good. Good fast and friendly service.
Good pint, great location if you are making your way from the lake back into town.
Nice little pub, we only had drinks on this occasion.
Frozen veg, frozen yorkshire pudding, frozen roast potatoes and very expensive. Over £10 for a baguette?! Food quality poor, prices extortionate. The staff were nice though.
Dog friendly pub with good beer. Unfortunately the food was a bit poor. Cold, watery and tasteless vegetables, horrible peas. The burger and fish was okeysh but nothing special. All in all a bit pricy for the quality of food you get. Would not recommend for dinner.
Decent pub, figured Id try it since Ive been everywhere else in Keswick. Good for a drink though the food didnt look amazing.
Lovely cozy pub in a great location. Really nice food and very pleasant service. Will definitely be back!
Great pub, good beer, after a long hike
Me & my GF were in yesterday, she went for the Local Cumberland Sausage which was awful!! It was like eating a hot dog/processed. Certainly not what i would expect as local, you can literally buy better sausages from Tesco or any other supermarket. Veg seemes like microwave veg. I had the stacker burger which overall was ok but still not the best, the onion rings & coleslaw were actually the best part of the burger meal. Wont return thats for sure, seems like it could be a nice pub but not the food. Respone to owner Iv had Cumberland sausage countless times from various other establishments in Keswick & none have ever been like that. It was awful to put it bluntly so god knows what the chef/person cooking must of done to it if thats award winning. If thats supposed to be fresh Veg id seriously have words with your kitchen staff as it had no flavour at all unlike fresh vegetables & very much seemed microwaved. Like i said im sure it could be a nice pub but from what i experienced it was very much lacking in the food department.
Nice and cosy and good food .
Great little place to stop and have a drink and grab somthing eat
Very friendly bar staff and delicious food!
Enjoyed the selection of draft beer and ales, and I had the stacker burger which was very tasty. However, the indoors of the pub had a strange and off putting smell so we sat outside. Can t fault the food and service, just sort the smell!
Great spot if you can get a seat outside!
Great pub. Good beer. Saturday night entertainment. Very busy. Best pub night out had in years.
Very gd food
Lovely bar with top quality selection of beers. Beer garden in the sun, front and back dog friendly too
Great atmosphere after a good day walking . Very dog friendly
Probably the worst pub I ve been to in a long time. Forgot our food order and when I chased it after an hour of waiting, they originally told us that they ve run out of food , but then said they could knock something up . Two plates appeared with completely different meals than we ordered. Don t visit if you want any choice in what you get fed. Barman also stopped pouring the persons drink in front halfway through filling to serve someone else.
Pleasant, attentative staff and decent drinks
Definitely the worst place in town. Icy welcome, 3/4 hour wait to eat passable food and toilets to vomit
Great bar. Reasonable prices. Efficient friendly staff. Always busey. One of our favourite watering holes in Keswick
Good well priced food great service pleasant staff
The Atacama desert holds more moisture than their fish finger baguette; and the breaded chicken and bacon baguette made my wife go into shock. We had to carry her to the nearest Greggs on a stretcher. The beer was adequate.
Only used their outside seating for a drink. Weather was warm,so pleasant enough to sit outside.
Nice place to watch the world rush by
Had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sun!
We had a drink outside after a meal at another venue. Lovely evening with great entertainment
Nice pub
Lovely meal great value for money staff are lovely.
This is a delightful hikers pub in the middle of Keswick. Cosy, welcoming and reasonably priced. The food choices are broad and the ales have many taps! Grab a table!
Great pub, great beer great food, enough said. Food
Lovely Sunday lunch, very accommodating staff, cosy little pub with a great atmosphere, the outside hides a little gem
Great night Shelly was fantastic Everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere The 2 staff behind the bar worked there socks off - well done guys
Great food and selection of beers and cocktails Very dog friendly aswell Staff very friendly Food : 5/5
Good range of beers
Always great
Only had drinks found to be a tad expensive
The food is not valuable.
Poor food quality, especially the Mains - Scampli and chips, drinks normal. Eventually, not recommended.
Ive eaten here a few times and the food has always been delicious! Would recommend to anyone visiting Keswick!
No wonder everyone around us is just having a pint - the food is lowest taste pub grub chucked out in no time
Decent pub with way more seating that may be apparent at first glance. If it looks full, go through to the yard at the back which has another two rooms off the yard. Decent selection of beers.
Was very nice! Food was fine, outdoor dining was nice and indoor dinning certainly looked nice. Staff where very friendly and helpful.
had a meal to celebrate our anniversary. lovely food and atmosphere also dog friendly
Its a very warm + friendly pub, Peter + Margaret (the licencees) r friendly + the food/beer is nice
We have been to this inn A few times over the years when visiting Keswick . Always had A lovely meal, this time we had fish and chips for four wow the fish was lovely really large potion the beer batter was delicious. We like that its dog friendly too.
Called in for a beer after eating elsewhere as the kitchen was closed. Girl behind the bar seemed less than impressed to be there. Beer good despite this.
Not sure about young locals
Great little dog friendly pub. Lovely bar meals and service was friendly and quick. The dog even got a treat. Music was great too.
Lovely fish and chips, real fire too!! Dog friendly!
Perfect food and great atmosphere, well worth a visit .
Braught my mother a drink and she let my daughter drink it so the manager took the drink away he didnt even ask who the drink belonged to.
Went here for my grand daughters 15th birthday. She had a sip of my wifes drink and the bar guy came and confiscated the drink quite rudly then before we left started clearing the table and almost suggesting we should leave. Will never go back here again.
Decent pub
Great atmosphere, especially the live act on Saturday night.
Pleasant pub. Recommended.
Nice draught beer and Carling, pricey but nice.
£7 for a medium glass (175ml) of house White when the bottle online is £3.40 Shocking . Rip off Keswick at its worst
Nice pub with a pool table in the barn.
Great little, very busy Inn . Lovely staff and food
Only 1 chef on... on a weekend, near Xmas! Waited an hour for a bowl of veg soup and a plate a veg (veggie Sunday lunch). Soup didnt taste great... no gravy offered for veg. Sad really.
Burgers are amazing!
Very nice pub good choice of food and drink which is good quality and you can take the dog in as well
Run out of every beer, you really don t feel very welcome it s almost like a chore that the customer is here in the first place
Not a really polite service.
Service could be really improved in terms of politeness.
Staff are friendly in here. The seating arrangement is very tight so expect to be intimate. Food is average, nothing special, but hits the spot. The food has the typical Keswick premium on top, maybe a little more so than the neighbouring put.
Ordered the Steak and Ale pie. Epic food, great quality meat, enjoyed every bit. Great value for money. I will definitely visit again before we head south. Thanks to all the guys at Lake Road Inn. Dog friendly and even though they were busy the squeezed us in.
Table of 5 adults every meal was excellent and far to much to eat dare you to have pudding you will pop , great value for money
What a pleasant find this was! Everybody s food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back for another meal before the end of our holiday in the lakes
Pretty and very busy road that leads to the lake
Bad experience, ordered ploughmans lunch, got the runs. The so called ploughmans lunch, ended with 3 slices of ham,1 small tomatoe divided in 4 quarters, a bit of pickle and 2 pickle onions on a bed of lettuce accompanied by half of a very small baguette. I live in Sunderland and had to have 3 stops for a toilet break. I have nothing to eat today. Just to be on the positive side the trip to Keswick was as usual very nice.
Excellent pint. Very friendly.
Friendly staff, a refreshing change to feel welcome with a smile and helpful staff. As a result the pub had a buzz and comfortable feel about it with great value and quality food and beer.
Great pub experience
Always a warm welcome, good food.
Lovely food, sadly driving so had to for go the beer, but tempted
Set just off the main Street and we have always walked past this place but tonight decided to go for drinks. Very nice venue. Tried a helles German lager here and was nice.
Nice enough but meal s just OK .Veg was microwaved as was cold in the middle and watery. As it was a Bank Holiday weekend they were pushed as there wasnt enough staff so had quite a long wait and it was busy.
Decent food ,dog friendly , pretty good
Food was dreadful. I appreciate that the pub was suffering with staff issues. However this doesnt effect the quality of the product sold. I had the ultimate burger or something similarly named. It was two lumps of mechanically reclaimed grey matter with poor quality bacon and some green stuff. The onion rings were fine for frozen onion rings and the chips were pretty soggy and certainly nothing to write home about. The nicest part of the dish was the coleslaw which you only get a tiny portion of. The burger meat was honestly vile. Its a nice building in a nice spot. But I genuinely walked away feeling offended that someone could serve that dish with any sense of pride in their product.
Dog friendly pub with great food and very friendly staff good selection of beers and shorts really cosy seating inside and out pool table at the back good pub to call inside when going or coming back from the lake or even a long walk Live music on a Saturday nights Lov this little pub.
Decent choice of beers.
Had a great night here with live music
Nice pub with friendly staff. Had a good pool table in separate room. Shame the cues were rubbish
Average beer
Lovely pub, very busy with nice food, but why oh why do places keep serving food on a wooden board rather than a plate?? Very unhygienic, Id rather have a plate, but the food was nice.
Great bar, great staff, wide choice of drinks and live entertainment
Dog friendly. Fast and friendly service. Good food and drinks
Tired the award winning Cumberland sausage..hmmm not sure which award its won but it was a bit average. Mash and gravy spot on though. Frozen veg was a bit watery. Overall it was a bit average for pub grub
Great food
Very good cask beer and good food. Couldnt resist their lasagne.
Amazing owner and amazing food, come here and eat the sticky pudding and the sausage and mash
Great food and drink. Staff friendly and helpful.
The pub is only small inside but the atmosphere was brilliant with live music , the 2 barmen were really friendly
It seemed to be a nice Pub and drinks were OK, but my ordered Big Burger was the worst ever. Not freshly prepared, the meat was fried two days before and I couldn t work it with knife and fork. I reclaimed but that was not from interest for anyone. 15 Pounds wasted
Nice little pub friendly
Unpretentious pub, good food
Topper
Nice little pub. Very dog friendly.
3.8 stars. Decent selection of drinks. Food OK but small choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would go again but I have no others pubs in Keswick to compare it with.
Came for a meal and instead of asking which chilli if they weren t sure which one we wanted, they presumed it was chilli con carne and not the 5 bean chilli (if we wanted chilli con carne that s what we would have said but it clearly wasn t obvious enough). Wouldn t take it back or give a refund, just said it s a fault on both ends and would have to pay full price for the right one as a separate meal. Also 3 of our party got the Sunday roast which was not worth the money at all, some of the roast potatoes which are clearly frozen weren t cooked through, the peas were microwaved and overdone, carrots were brown and tasted old and very little gravy, only on the beef so would have had to pay extra for more if you wanted it on the rest of your food. Customer service not great and neither is the food, have been to a number of places in Keswick and all much better than here.
Spent a couple of lunchtimes in this cozy pub after a good walk. Traditional and dog friendly. Barmaid ( farmers daughter ) was smashing, really friendly and chatty. Didnt try the food as we were eating at night but beer was excellent and atmosphere was spot on.
Nice quaint pub enjoyed my evening in there. Staff that worked there were really cool
Lovely dog friendly pub with good selection of real ales
Great little pub serving up some local beers to taste!
