Thyme Bistro Keswick in Keswick

Food was just fine, but not great. Nicer, more upscale place. Made a reservation (we were there in July, on a week day), but didnt need it. Even though the place wasnt full, they sat us next to the door.

Had a delicious meal tonight, belly pork and cod loin for mains, tiramisu and creme brulee for puds- excellent, couldnt fault it, long time since had 100% for each course: beautiful flavours, well balanced, tasty food! Thank you

Lovely meal here. 3 of us, 1 had pork belly, 1 pasta and I had the chicken in cream sauce. Desserts also nice. Service was quick and friendly. Really nice little place, recommend you book.

Booked last minute, was an issue with the booking but still managed to squeeze us in. Lovely staff, very attentive. Food was 10/10 Id recommend the thyme burger and the pate is the best Ive ever had. The restaurant was full so I thought they didnt have music playing, but as people left I heard it come through. Perfect volume. Get yourself a table!

A must to visit while in the lakes, this place was recommended by our holiday accommodation. to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We got a warm welcome and shown to our seats, even though we had an early sitting there were already a number of people eating, the food was delicious, and only wished we had enough room for the sticky toffee pudding, but there is always next time. Parking: Public car parks are available at either end of high street

We had a great pleasure to eat dinner tonight, despite very busy time our table was accepted. Service is very efficient, food is absolutely delicious- we had prawns and pate for starters and beef burgers for main. The best beef burgers i have ever eaten! Definitely big 5* !!!! We will come back for sure! Regards to the Chefs and all hardworking staff.

Very impressed with the food. We were not planning in coming here today, but all of our choices were fully booked and to be fair I am glad they were. The garlic bread was good. I order a vegetarian lasagna and when I saw it I was a bit unsure as it did not look like a lasagna, but it was very very good. My partner ate the spinach torttelini and was also very good. Very good merlot. Recommend for sure!

Had the lamb shank. Exquisite. The lamb was falling off the bone, the gravy/sauce was perfect with the mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Food was delicious. I had the salami pizza and deep fried brie. Both were great. Service was lovely. Atmosphere was very relaxed and nice.

Excellent food at reasonable prices and super friendly staff. If you re into fancy looking places probably not the one, but if you like tasty food and friendly people absolutely on point. Home made sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I have had.

Our first visit to the Thyme Bistro was very positive. A warm welcome was received upon arrival, and the food was was well presented and arrived quickly. We all enjoyed our meals, however one member of our party had the cod with mashed potato which she found a tad too salty, but the fish was well cooked. We had a baby with us, and would have benefitted from a baby changing facility being available. We would certainly visit again.

Had an evening meal at the Thyme Bistro as we were staying at the Premier Inn in Keswick and the reviews looked really good. Was our first visit and it really didnt disappoint! There was a lovely atmosphere, it was really busy but surprisingly the service was fantastic and our food came out quickly. The Salmon I had was incredible, and the chocolate fudge cake was so good! Would definitely visit again. 5 stars!

The food here was atrocious. I ordered penne pasta in a spicy sauce with roasted vegetables, and it was so bland that I sent it back. My wife had the lasagna, but instead of cooked in a tomato sauce, it came smothered in a cheese sauce. To top it off, the food wasnt cheap. I would give this place a pass if I were you.

Very highly recommended! Food is absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and something for everyone. Catered for gluten free with no problems at all, and had a lot of knowledge too- felt comfortable knowing that the food was prepared safely with my Mum having coeliac disease, the importance was definitely appreciated. Service was second to none and a lovely environment. Eaten here several times when visiting the Keswick area and cant wait to come back again!

Best restaurant in Keswick. Food fabulous, very attentive staff. Great ambience. All in all a very enjoyable evening despite us being 45 minutes late due to being stuck in traffic following accident on A66. One happy family of 6.

Exceptional food at this husband and wife run bistro. The duck, lamb shank and the pastas we ordered were packed with flavour. Tiramisu was amazing while not quite the best we have ever eaten. Would definitely recommend a vist when in Keswick

Excellent food with friendly service

This is our favourite eating place in Keswick. Welcome is always good and professional. Staff are eager to please, polite and very friendly.. Food is always of a very high standard and the restaurant is managed extremely well.

Fab visit to the Thyme Bistro yesterday - lovely and cool and airy despite intense heat outside, very nice decor with comfortable seating. The food, service and price were excellent. Due to the heat we had lighter meals - my tonno pizza was fab as was my partners pasta dish. The vegan chocolate torte with orange sorbet was to die for as I suspect most of not all dishes will be at this lovely restaurant. Would have given 5 stars to very category but as we ate at 5 pm was quiet which suited us but probably buzzing later. Would deffo recommend and hope to revisit if back in Keswick x

I never leave reviews, but this was so incredibly disappointing - and very expensive. £16 and £17 something for our burgers. The burger was a bun with one piece of iceberg lettuce, the patties.... and that was it. No sauce, relish, greens, onion ring... Just nothing. On the side was chips and a sad looking salad-thing with some cheap shop bought dressing. The chips, clearly not homemade, but just rubbish oven chips. When asked what they did with the coleslaw for vegan burgers, the waitress seemed utterly indifferent and said they just didnt serve it. Other places have actually discovered vegan mayo or will provide an alternative. All in all, there was no love for, or knowledge of, food. But for that much money you assume the chef wants to cook something delightful for the guests. This simply wasnt it. I dont get the many good reviews - unless its only the burgers that arent good. I hope so.

Absolutely unreal!!! The food was amazing & the service was so good too. We were felt very welcome to say there was 6 of us and it s a lovely little place. Highly recommend

The layout of the restaurant doesnt lend itself to a good atmosphere and Im afraid the food didnt make up for it. Nothing terrible but just fairly mediocre. Maybe its because its a bit off the beaten track and doesnt have the vibe if the main streets.

Food was good and the service from the young waiting staff was excellent. However the manager (scruffy bloke with beard) had the worst attitude of anyone I have ever encountered in a restaurant. Unwelcoming, rude and hostile. Appreciate he may have been having a bit of a bad day but you don t take it out on your customers.

Excellent place for dinner. We think the chef there is excellent and really knows to come up with great dishes, with the usage of thyme in most dishes. The restaurant is rather hidden. Find it and you wont regret it. Great service by the server too. Excellent.

This is a lovely restaurant, my wife and I were in Keswick and later in the year as a walking group of 6 guys last year and we keep going back, the food is superb the staff and owners very welcoming with great atmosphere! Highly recommend it really is a great place to dine.

I am really confused by all the 5 star reviews of this place, food was average and the manager really should not be in a customer facing role, he was hostile and unbelievably arrogant, I can only guess he is family member to the owner. All other staff were excellent. It has been a hard time for a lot of restaurants through Covid so I would suggest giving your business to a restaurant who actually welcomes you in the door.

Had a meal tonight while we have been staying away and found this restaurant on the internet with good reviews all I can say they where not wrong. Great friendly staff. Amazing food and drink all three courses where great. If I have to have one wish would be more wine by the glass choice rather than the standard three house reds. Will definitely come here again.

We had a good meal at the Thyme Bistro. Service was excellent. The only issue I would report is the poor acoustics in the restaurant. This is a pet peeve I have, restaurants need to install more soft furnishings, drapes, and curtains to mop up the sound of the chatter on the other tables. The hard bare walls and ceilings bounce the sound around the room. Thankfully it quietened down later as the restaurant emptied.

Excellent meal - duck as good as I ve eaten, even after 10 years living in France. The crème brûlée was Ok so I dipped into my OH s toffee pudding which was divine.

Just had an amazing experience in here with great staff and wonderful tasty food , went on a recommendation from our friends who run Greystones guest house . Will definitely be returning when we come back in September as the menu choice is so varied .

A really enjoyable experience at the thyme bistro. Our main courses were absolutely beautiful. The duck & lamb shank courses are my top picks for this restaurant. We did have to wait a while for our desert menus to arrive which did drag the evening a bit. But other than that. The food and drinks are top class. We will return again.

Ate here on first eve of our holiday. We both had soup of the day which was mushroom soup..absolutely delicious! It arrived shortly after ordering so no complaints there. I had the prawn tagliatelle which was absolutely scrummy but as i got further into the dish it became very very greasy and oily...which left me disappointed. My partner had the beef bourgignon which he found very nice. We booked to go again tomorrow eve to try the lamb shank

My partner Sue and I recently spent a week in Keswick for a walking holiday, a favourite part of the World. We discovered Thyme Bistro on 1st day Monday, we discovered it again on Tuesday...we also discovered it again on Friday! If you are visiting Keswick then you must eat here, cannot fault the food, the service, the cleanliness and the lovely rapport with the owner/chef Richard and he gets an extra star...!!

A super place to take some Thyme out and stuff food in your gob

We visited on Friday 2 September for our Wedding Anniversary meal. The atmosphere was brilliant as people were talking & not having to compete with music. The choice of food was great. One of us had goats cheese with chargrilled vegetables & the other had pate. Both absolutely delicious We chose the salmon & cod loin for mains - couldnt fault it. Nicely cooked & hot. The service was excellent. Going to go again the next time we are in Keswick

Recommended to us, and did not disappoint. Really excellent quality food. We both had the lamb shank which came with mash and veg. Portion size was great. Followed by tiramisu and creme Brule which was stunning, very light. We had 1 beer and 3 glasses of malbec and the bill was £82 which was well worth it.

Well what can I say about this place...It is possibly the best restaurant in Keswick.We love going to the local pubs as the food is always good but we fancied a change and we were not disappointed.From the welcome,the service,the ambience and most importantly the food this is one place you need to try.My ONLY criticism(am splitting hairs)Is that there was no Prosecco either as a small bottle or by the glass as I do like a little tipple.Oh almost forgot,even the table decorations were quirky.You have to try this place

On holiday in Keswick and realised we had to get our restaurants booked for our evening meals and had walked past Thyme Bistro and it looked very nice plus the menu had some wonderful meals on it. Next step phone and book a table which we did for the Monday evening. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly you felt at home straight away, they were very attentive and drinks arrived and food was ordered. Oh was it delicious or what and so well presented every morsel was eaten, then for dessert mouth watering good. We were so impressed we asked if we could book again for Thursday which was ok. Thursday comes along and again the same friendly welcome but from different staff, again drinks were good and orders taken. My sister and I do not eat peppers so we asked if we could have mushrooms with our salmon instead of Mediterranean roast vegetables, of course this was ok . They just made you feel like nothing was to much trouble. Again everything was so delicious and all plates cleared, no desserts tonight though as all to full. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone such a pleasure to visit and the food excellent.

Didnt look like much from the outside but nicely laid out and presented when you enter. The food was very nice the Pene salmon and Carbonara were lovely, but my son thought his burger was a bit under done for his taste. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was an interesting mix of semi formal (hopefully not overstated) dining with the best of soft eighties rock and pop. Overall though pretty good!

The food here was incredible. Best place I have eaten in a long time. The staff were also brilliant. We loved it so much we booked again for the following day.

We visited Thursday evening, greeted with a friendly warm smile on arrival. Was told that they were a man down in the kitchen so food would be slower than usual which wasnt a problem. Everything was of exceptional quality from the food to the service/staff. Definitely recommended

While we are turned down by all the other restaurants which has weird rules like only residents permitted, age 14+ etc., these guys welcomed us with smile. The entire experience was absolutely beautiful. Right from the ambience, the professional behaviour of the staff, the food. I would give a 11/10 if possible. The staff were lovely. They re a definition of an ideal restaurant staff! Loved the visit. Would go there again if I get a chance!

Visited on the 19th for a table of 6 at 8pm. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Excellent range on the menu to cater for most diet types. The food was beautifully cooked and brought out in a timely manner. Very reasonable prices for the lake district and the quality of the cooking was well worth it. Would highly recommend. Booking would be essential during holiday periods.

Brilliant bistro for my husbands 60th Birthday meal with 16 family members. We were so lucky to find this beautiful restaurant. Wendy and Richard really went out of their way to accommodate us on a Bank holiday Monday. They responded quickly to our contact with them and really helped make it a special evening for us. The food is divine, and the service was excellent with all meals promptly served by friendly, helpful staff. They delivered our birthday cake with enthusiastic singing and allowed us to decorate the table as a surprise. Can t thank you enough for making our evening special. Alison and John

If I was to critique anything they could probably give us more time between the starter and the main as dishes were served pretty quickly, but to be fair this did not stop me from finishing everything. Excellent bistro in the heart of Keswick. Extremely good prices, very good value for the quality of food on offer. Reasonably varied menu, good atmosphere and good service. Decor could do with a little updating, but doesnt detract from the main attraction which is great food prepared to perfection.

What a lucky find! We were let down by another restaurant we had booked who cancelled a few hours before our booking and we found this restaurant on google - it was the best meal we ve had in years! The food was absolutely perfect, the staff were very friendly and it was a lovely setting and atmosphere. We ll definitely come back if we visit the Lakes again and would highly recommend it.

Seated/Drink order/Food Order very timely. What can I say about the food(absolutely delicious) I had mushrooms/Cumberland Sausage and partner had Pate/Chicken Burger. The staff were wonderful and very friendly trying to please. Will definitely be back ( if we can get in!)

Tucked away behind the high street in Keswick is a brilliant bistro. The food is uniformly excellent, from the special mushroom starter to the steak and the cod loin. Fast and friendly too, with a good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Thyme bistro ...husband and wife team serving a diverse menu selection .portion sizes are huge ...every meal we had was beautifully presented and well cooked .we had king prawn starters ....pasta .steak risotto as main courses followed by creme brulee. Would highly recommend the food service and restaurant overall
