Southeast Asian curries and stir-fries in a 2-floor Georgian venue done out with rattan seats.
Visiting for the weekend and was out of options after going for a few drinks in the local pubs, ordered online and collected 20 minutes later. We had the dog, and so initially the Mrs waited outside, they soon welcomed the dog in too saying they were dog friendly! Food was ready to go immediately. The quality of the food was nothing short of superb, everything was cooked to perfection. Full of flavour… couldn’t recommend enough. We will be back!!!
Nice food. Service was exceptional. It was a great experience with lots of options. The chicken satay was slightly dry, but overall everything was nice.
The food was tasty, we enjoyed the drunken noodles here a few years back. The recipe seems to have changed but they were still good if you enjoy really hot food. We also enjoyed the Massaman curry and Pineapple curry and Pad Thai which are more mild and delicious. I would recommend eating here.
Delicious traditional and authentic Thai food. We skipped starters and shared 3 mains with a portion of steamed rice and some Thai crackers. We chose the tamarind duck from the chefs special, a generous portion of perfectly cooked duck bread, chicken red curry and a a chilli, garlic flat rice noodle dish with prawns. All yum! Hubby had a Singa beer which is on draught and I had a glass of rose then we shared a bottle of house red. Excellent service from lovely staff.
The starter platter is absolutely terrible and £17 for straight from the freezer samosas and spring rolls. However the main was great, we had the Pad Thai and the quality was great. We would go back but will skip the starters.
Went there for a quick meal and ordered a vegan platter. Tho I was disappointed with the selection of items on the platter. The veggies were battered and deep fried. Didn’t find anything different in the taste. I have had better thai food at different restaurants. Adding some tofu to the platter with different sauces wouldn’t be nice. The sauces I got, both were very sweet. Service was amazing. No complaints about it.
We got takeout Beef Pad Kee Mao (add-on fried egg) for the first time on our way back from a trip to the lakes, and really enjoyed the authentic flavour bomb. Another trip to the lakes - and we decided to make a detour through Keswick especially for their Beef Pad Kee Mao again! The front of house and back of house were just lovely both times. 5-star hospitality, will definitely drop by for a takeaway or even a cheeky dine-in next time we're here.
Very busy on a Bank Holiday weekend. We waited for 30 minutes but all the other restaurants were the same. We were seated just after 9pm. The food was good but the staff were run off their feet. It was a shame that another table waited for two hours for their meal and then ran off without paying. I have never seen the police in attendance but at least they were taking it seriously. Would come back again but would book a table first.
Decent food
If you want to eat here wear arctic wear as it was absolutely freezing, asked management why they stated that we have had no problems up to now with heating, this is the 3rd time of eating here in the last 6 weeks and has been cold to the extreme, its the last time will eat here in the winter, by the way dont have a coffee as it cost nearly £4 per cup Really disappointed with the whole experience
Came to visit friends for a few days, took us to this restaurant, was cold in the dinning area, at the back, the food was OK, but Not very hot ,when mentioned about the heat, the answer I got. Well it is winter, I get that but should be warm in restaurant,
Best Thai food Ive had in the UK! Unexpected gem in Keswick, will definitely be back. Also very nice service and theyre dog friendly!
Great value for money, excellent staff
I ordered duck stir fry with sticky rice. The food was good, a little greasy but tasty - I would get it again. Portions were quite small. The place could do with some TLC.
Really big restaurant which had many groups in the night we were there. It looked like the service was suffering from the numbers of people who all came in early evening. We booked but probably big enough to turn up without a booking. The food was ok but I thought the Tom Yum soup was over the top with chilli and the massaman curry was under spiced, not for heat, but with the more subtle spices such as tamarind, fish sauce for the curry paste It was a bit bland and did not have a deep rich flavour.
Food was absolutely delicious, staff were sp lovely and helpful and they squeezed us in last min :)
Vegetarian options: Nearly all the dishes can be vegetarian. Food
The best thai s food
Gorgeous food, perfect service from friendly and attentive waiting staff. Lovely atmosphere. Our only complaint is that we wish we hadn t over indulged earlier that day so we could have ordered more food! We wanted to book in for the following night to try more of the menu, but they are closed Tuesdays. We will be back!
Easy to order online, speedy, delicious food, thoroughly enjoyed, would highly recommend.
Delicious food, especially the pad kee mao. Only portion is bit small. Excellent service.
This is a husband (English) and wife (Thai) run restaurant and has an authenticity to the food that reflects this. Their son was our waiter (and very good at it), they had draught Singha beer and made it a lovely last meal in an interesting town. Well worth a visit.
Food was not completely authentic, but tasty. Nice staff.
We decided on a takeaway and arrived to order it. Utter chaos ensued and watching other diners just sitting, waiting to be served or have their order taken, meant I was glad we were eating at home. I noticed the food is often taken to the bar before being taken to the tables, so goodness knows how many people have breathed or coughed over it by the time it s received. We were told 30 minutes to wait and that was accurate. Sadly the food wasn t as good as it looked. The tempura was soggy, the crackers were chewy, there was far too many vegetables in the pad mee and both dishes were quite bland. Plus the black hair was a little off putting. The young lad that served us was very pleasant and chatty and a credit to the team as they were all clearly overwhelmed.
Some issues with the order. Missing key ingredients or adding things that werent listed in the menu. Starter veg gyoza was tasty but tiny. Pineapple fried rice was good but left out the cashews. Pineapple curry was very poor and tasted bad, so sent it back and was also missing ingredients listed. They asked me what the problem was, I pointed the issues out and they agreed and apologised. Got a tofu massaman instead, which actually was delicious with a strong star anise flavour, unusual but I loved it. Dads steak was decent but said it was nothing special and the bed of sizzling veg was underwhelming. Pear cider wasnt in stock either, so had to get an alternative and they added mashed berries to the glass, which was unwanted and sent back for a plain one. The waitor spoke to me at the end and said they will be amending the menu details as they are clearly outdated to the current chefs style. Potentially a good place but needs refining and better communication between the staff and kitchen.
Wide selection of very tasty Thai foods, much as one might get in country.
Great food
Okay restaurant, really overpriced starters though. Pad Thai is too chewy for me as well. Overall mediocre
We got takeaway from here on a family holiday. Although nothing was terrible by any means, the overall feeling was one of disappointment. The main gripe was the portion sizes. The sticky rice portions were frankly ridiculous - if I went back here Id be wanting at least two just for myself... forget trying to share portions with other people! This was even more of a problem given how watery the curries were - Id want a lot more rice just to soak it up! Everything else was also much smaller than youd usually expect from a Thai takeaway, and the curries really didnt have a huge amount in them. Tastewise it was all fine. Nothing outstanding, but fine. And the service was really good. Definitely not an avoid. Its alright. Just order more than you think youll need and dont rely on the rice to fill you up!
Great staff, great prices, great food. Don t normally do reviews but this place is worth going to.
Good tasty Thai food we recommend.
The worst service I ever had (from the moment we arrived to when we left) + afterwards they told us they had given our info to the police as they said we didnt pay => as if the dinner experience itself could have got any worse, it actually did!!!! First, we booked a table and arrived on time. We had to ask 3 different waiters about our booking, them pretending to prepare/look for our table, until one of those waiters ask again who we were, and then she went to bring people who arrived after us (were the same number) to their table, before to take care of us. We were fortunate that those were educated people who flagged to the waitress we had been waiting for longer and were the same number of people so should be sitting first..... So it starts well (this took already 20min from the time we arrived). Then, we could see the chaos around us (between what had just happened and all the people sitted already with no food or water or anything, just waiting to catch a waiter/tress attention) so we tried to order fast (if the food gets prepared as quickly as the service is, wed better order quickly). We managed to place our order, but observing tables around us, after at least 20 additional minutes, we see a table of people who sat and ordered after us receiving their food...... So we asked if our order was on its way.. they mistook the number of the tables and our order had.. disappeared... So they had to take our order again. (Lets not forget the 3/4 times we had to ask for water before to actually get some, but that was the top of the iceberg vs. All the rest). So we might have got our food 1h15 after we arrived in the restaurant. And one might say ok, thats a really bad experience but anyone who has a sense of working in service would manage to balance the bad experience with a commercial gesture (especially as we remained very polite all along this annoying journey). We were 4, shared starters, 4 big mains (including one not flagged as spicy on the menu but so spicy we couldnt eat it), drinks and their commercial gesture wasnt to offer us a dessert or to pay for the starters we had shared. Their gesture was offering us... The 2 bowls of rice... Cherry on the cake! So we paid and left, hoping that was the end of a very bad experience and not even good food. Finally, the next day, we received a text saying we shared your information with the police and CCTV shots of your faced as we have proof you left without paying. Are you kidding me????? So we had to call them, prove to them we had paid (especially as we had given 3 times the name of our reservation so again shows the restaurants great organisation skills) for them to confirm it was all good. Hopefully enough details to say to avoid this restaurant like the plague!
Great food and nice atmosphere, and reasonably priced. A must visit.
Exceptional food in a lovely, understated atmosphere, with excellent, attentive staff.
Great little restaurant, excellent food at a reasonable price
We got the takeaway, but very disappointed with portion sizes and quality of food. Tom yum especially disappointing as my partner commented the worst hes had! 2 prawn 1 muchroom & 1 cherry tomato in a very small portion. Springrolls extremely small and lacked filling. Although staff extremely friendly when i ordered and collected!
This place is the best dine-in spot in town! The food is delicious and flavorful, and the customer service is truly outstanding. The staff is incredibly kind and respectful, and I dont think even high-end restaurants could match their level of service. Highly recommend!
Exceptional food and service from delightful people. We will definitely return soon.
We tried to go into the Chinese across the road but there was no space with a long wait. Instead we went here and we are glad we did as the food was amazing and the service was really quick! Would highly recommend!!
Great, properly spicy and aromatic Thai food. The tom yun soup and papaya salad are both slowly building scorchers. Curries were great too. Really friendly service. Strong recommend. Vegetarian options: We asked for papaya salad without fish sauce and the restaurant accommodated us. Thanks.
Food was absolutely lovely, well presented, fast, fresh and in a clean environment. Staff were the absolute best making our experience amazing. Atmosphere was really nice, a room on the back has a night lit up tree which was absolute vibes and pretty to look at. We had a big started platter, two mains and even drinks, only £40 with a kind gift of chocolate for free, would highly recommend, no doubt about it.
A rare find in the UK restaurant with fresh ingredients tasty and inexpensive. Lucky enough to stop in here because the Chinese across the road was closed so glad it was. Highly recommend the massamon beef it was delicious and so was the pad Thai.
Ate here while staying in Keswick and very disappointed. Service was good but the food was bland, tastless and the atmosphere was just as bad. Would not eat here again Food
A visit to Keswick isn t complete without at least one meal here. Delicious food & superb service. The mango sticky rice is to die for! I look forward to the next time :)
Really really good Thai food and very friendly staff
Lovely authentic Thai food that I have been missing on my return to the UK! Great and helpful staff! Would recommend!
Lovely restaurant and great gluten free (coeliac friendly) and veggie options
Very tasty food and attentive staff. Took us back to thailand for the hour we stopped off here
Ordered take away on a bank holiday weekend, took an hour, and portions are small.
Delicious food, amazing staff, would 1000% recommend, it s a must try!
This is a great find. An awful lot of restaurants could learn from this place. It does the basics RIGHT A genuine, friendly welcome Great service. The food is beautifully presented but more importantly it is GOOD. Hot, tasty home cooked food with quality ingredients.
Amazing food and great friendly service! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!
Very average food with poor presentation.
Poor food. Poor presentation. Waiter said perfect 3 times within 3 minutes of arriving. Nothing was perfect.
Unfortunately I never got to try my special fried rice as when my husband got back to our holiday accommodation (half an hours drive), I opened the box to find a lace wing creature walking around in the box so I wouldnt eat it. Everyone elses food was unaffected and they liked their food.
great food highly recommend the seafood special curry, our order taker was on his 1st day a bit nervous but very helpful, if he didnt know the answer to our questions he went and asked someone to get the answer.
Delicious thai food. Service was very quick aswell. My favourite was Tom yum.
You can book a table on a Tuesday online when they are closed... Google maps was up to date, Google was not. Booked a table for 7pm Tuesday 2nd April... had a email confirmation of the booking. Before we made the journey I rang up on the day to confirm if they were open that day and they said yes yes we are definitely open ... drove 16 miles in anticipation of a lovely birthday meal and they were closed. Was very disheartened and had to go elsewhere to make the trip worth it. May review in future if we decide to try and visit again though will take some time to get over this. Staff need to know the days they are open and the booking system needs updating
Really delicious food (great range of options, even for vegetarians). Considering there were only 3 staff on that we could see, the service was good. Also, the interior decor/design makes for a great atmosphere. Sticky rice and cashew nut stir fry were some definite highlights!
Delicious food, good service and very reasonably priced.
Lovely food, staff faultless. Noisy table next to us unfortunately
After a day out in Cockermouth Ic and Flic decided we should eat out and they chose this Thai just three doors down from their accommodation. The three starters were yummy. The idiot who had calamari thinks it was amongst best ever. My hot soup was great as was Ics Satay. Ic and Flic had the same excellemt samon dish as a main from the Chefs special. I had a beef and basil dish. All very good and washed down with pints of Singha.
Visited on a wet Monday night in march so rather quiet as you would expect. However there was a very warm welcome and good service throughout the evening. Food was hot, tasty and very enjoyable. Good end to a days walking. Would recommend Parking: No parking as on main street but carry on past the restaurant and theres a carpark on a street on the left which charges £1 between 7pm - 7am
Absolutely amazing food and really friendly service
Fantastic Thai cuisine cooked by a Thai national. Great service from all the staff. Clean restaurant. Highly recommend the Tom Yum soup and the Massaman curry
Fantastic food ,visited here many times ,never dissapointed
Gorgeous food and will definitely return, we hadnt booked and called in by chance, only had to wait 10mins. Staff were attentive and reasonably priced.
Very disappointed all dishes. Chef needs urgent improvement! Padthai was really bad. Just taste fish sauce ..
Dog friendly Thai restaurant. Food was great and service too. Enjoyed the beef in oyster sauce - nice light dish! Would return next time we stay
Best Thai! Great service and value :) Vegetarian options: Tofu panang is 10/10 Food : 5/5 |
Meal was good , but had around 1/½ wait for main meal after our starters ,
We had the place to ourselves at first but then soon some others came in. The food was spot on and the desserts were new to us but delicious too. Had the full 3 courses and none of them disappointed. The owner chatted to us to tell us his wife was from Thailand and she was the source of the authenticity. We will definitely be going back. Thank you we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal.
Cracking
Excellent as always
Beautiful food and friendly service. Highly recommended.
Lovely restaurant in the centre of Keswick, great food and friendly staff. Dog friendly, which for me is an absolute bonus. Highly recommended
Authentic Thai cooking, if you dont like it, you dont like Thai food. I wish there was this quality local to me. 5/5 would go again.
Beautiful food but appalling service. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes between our starter and main course. It was a family treat out and it was spoilt by such slow service. We are regulars there and this wasnt an isolated incident. Sadly we wont be back. Vegetarian options: Lovely food.
Early bird menu is fantastic value and beautiful food
Very nice food. Did get one meal wrong but very quick to sort it out. Would go again
Food was warm not hot, noodles came when meal was nearly finished, had duck tamarind and it was not a patch on other places where Ive eaten it, pretty tasteless if Im honest, the staff where friendly enough and the restaurant was okay, sorry but wouldnt return
Quiet Sunday evening, served quickly, panang curry and Singapore noodles could be the best weve had.
Been here before. Lovely restaurant, staff & food. Yellow curry is excellent. Ill be back.
Beautiful food, served quickly. I ordered Veggie Penang with coconut rice and salt and pepper chips. The food tasted exquisite. 100% would recommend. Vegetarian options: Vegtable curry was exceptional. Nice crisp veggies.
Food is lovely
Cant really rate the food as we walked out before it arrived. And we werent the only ones that night. Really not impressed with the place at all.
Amazing! Can t wait to come back
Beautiful meal enjoyed here before our trip to the theatre. Cant recommend highly enough.
We had a carry out meal from this restaurant and it was absolutely terrific. The quality of the food was simply superb and the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. You have to try this restaurant if in Keswick.
We loved it. We ate early at around 6pm, a few tables occupied, nice atmosphere. Food came quickly; flavoursome & fresh. Attentive service without being overbearing. Worth a visit.
The food was awesome. Really well made Thai food. The restaurant was fairly busy, but we felt the staff could have been more attentive. We had to call them over a few times for drinks etc. Apart from that the servers were lovely and the food was brilliant.
Very tasty. I had the Singapore noodles which was very good. It was a bit too spicy though and usually I love spicy food, but by the end all I could taste was spice and not the actual food which is a shame as it was very authentic food. Very polite and helpful staff.
Food here was nice Thai cuisine. Most of the staff was decent, with the exception of one or two. The main guy who runs this place is extremely friendly and an absolute pleasure to deal with. He should be proud of what hes made! I will return for them reasons alone when next seeking Thai food in Keswick.
Ordered a takeaway as were in self-catering accommodation nearby and the whole experience was FANTASTIC! Extensive menu and everything tasted utterly authentic and delicious. Highly recommended!
Delicious! Had the pineapple chicken curry, spring rolls, and pad Thai between three people. Food was hot, and very tasty. The decor was very cosy, and staff were friendly.
*Shocking Service* Do not visit I visited this restaurant on Saturday 22nd April 2023 at 6pm. During the meal I used the toilet facilities and on my way back to the table, one of the waitresses was carrying too many dirty dishes back to the kitchen. The waitresses then proceeded to fall up the stairs dropping all of the dishes. As I walked down the stairs all of the greases from these dishes fell on me and my jacket. At the end of the meal the manager apologised for the grease on my jacket and offered no refund , it wasn t until we complained that £10.00 was taken off the bill to take the jacket to the laundrette. I am currently waiting on a response to my complaint email, after the wash the grease hasn t came out of my Ralph Lauren jacket which cost £115.00. The jacket which was purchased last week is now ruined. Through no fault of my own I have entered the restaurant and had food thrown on me and had to deal with a manager who wasn t helpful at all in sorting the problem the excuse I was told , was the waitress was only 15 . I am waiting for confirmation I will get the cost of the jacket fully refunded.
Just want to point out that Rob Earl is an absolute bell end.
The food was great, but the service is very slow. We arrived at 8 pm for our meal. We were waiting around 30 minutes just for our drinks and around 1 hour and 30 minutes for our starters. Very understaffed. The good was lovely, so this made up for the slow service. They did knock off our drinks bill as an apology they couldnt have done any more than that, really.
Had a great meal at star of siam, service was really good too, nice way to end our trip
Food was great as was the service! Highly recommend!
Excellent meal. Service friendly.
Awesome selection of Thai food. Thai milk tea is a secret item off its menu listing
Fantastic place, tasty and great food. This cannot be described, so you have to answer and try
Great value for money, tasty food and friendly service
Out of my expectations, good quality of foods.
Lovely people, gorgeous food, happily accommodated a group of 9 as a walk in, a fantastic find
My friend and I were amazed by the food. It s very nice food!!! We recommend green Thai curry and Pad Kee Mow we ordered!
Great food and drink, friendly and welcoming team too. Nice and relaxing meal. Vegetarian options: Great number of vegetarian and vegan options Dietary restrictions: Staff have amazing knowledge of the menu Wheelchair accessibility: Well layed out to enable WC users
Booked a table last minute after deciding the reviews for nearby Chinese restaurants weren t very convincing so was hoping for the best and I wasn t disappointed the food was great and made me want to eat it again even tho I was stuffed 100% would Recommend and we ll be back next time we visit.
Buitiful meal with excellent service well worth a visit
Authentic Thai food, great taste , friendly staff .kitchen run by Thai cooks.
Firstly recommended by a family friend from whiteheaven and could not say No to HALAL Thai food. Its been an absolute pleasure. The food, the vibe, the service was top notch. The waitress Gemma was amazing alongside with manager Iain. Gemma recommended the best possible dishes to cater ourselves perfectly and also treated me with sticky toffee pudding for my birthday which was probably the best I have ever tried. Overall food was fresh and piping hot. We ended up ordering the prawn toast twice. Highly recommended. Since we had to travel and got rushed towards the end bit- we forgot to leave a tip - but surely will be back again and hope this review will cheer staffs and management Happy weekend
Great food you don t really need to know more the food is good the service Is good and Food is too// the prices are very fair
We found the tom yum seafood soup rather bland and mostly mushroom. The prawn crackers were not fresh, they were a little soggy. We all found the Crying Tiger steak salty but very tasty and well cooked. The Thai red curry was a small portion. We will go back and would also recommend. The service was great.
Great restaurant with friendly staff!
Absolutely delicious. I had the pineapple curry with jasmine rice. Very tasty. Vegetarian options: I had the pineapple curry with rice. Absolutely delicious. Food : 5/5 |
Lovely attentive service, amazing food...great atmosphere...we will be back soon
Average rating as portions were smaller than expected and a little bland. Staff were pleasant enough.
Great food at a great price and great service, would highly recommend
Great food. The pad Thai was outstanding
Excellent food polite and helpful staff
Very good food & service. Would recommend when in Keswick. Reasonably priced.
Visited for a quick meal and was really impressed. Lovely, welcoming staff, clean premises and excellent food. Loved it!
My order was missing my Pad Mee Noodles even though two staff confirmed with each other that the order had been checked. The portion sizes were small for the money charged so I don t feel it was good value.
Lovely! Food was very nice, good portions, good value for money, friendly service, great ambience. Would heartily recommend
I would give 5/5 for everything here. Great food, hospitable staff and nice ambience. Well done for serving authentic Thai food
Third visit great food with prompt friendly service at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
If you re using a microwave, you shouldn t make it too obvious. We ordered two curries and an appetiser - all of which arrived at the same time within 3 mins of us ordering. We ordered the red curry, which is recommended by other visitors as da bomb ; my girlfriend thought da disappointment would be more appropriate. Idk maybe it is da bomb if you ve never left Keswick.
Nice food at a good price.
Nice place, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food! Both me and my husband really enjoyed our time there!
sea bass was dead spicy, but the taste was just spot on
Really nice authentic Thai restaurant with Halal options! Caring staff without being pushy. The food is awesome. I am really impressed with the freshness and taste of the meals. The soups and mains were really flavoursome and good portions. The ambience is refreshing, providing a cosy family atmosphere. Great to enjoy with your loved ones. Prices are also quite good. Highly recommend.
Grateful they had tofu but all our dishes were a bit bland and lacked the freshness and vibrancy thats so appealing about good Thai cuisine.
The best meal I have had in a long time. Well worth the wait, absolutely delicious
Place was busy but they made space for a couple of walk-ins. Service was quick and the food was excellent.
Been here a few times now. We absolutely love the soups and the Thai Green Curry. Staff are truly amazing! Definitely would recommend!
We love Keswick and come here every year. This was the first time we come this restaurant, with good expectations, based on 4.3 out of 5. But it was shocking! We sat down feel hungry after a long walk, waiting for our food for a very long time, asked 3 times if she can check our meals, no response, nothing only asked if we want another drink we had to leave after an hour a half ! Leaving hungrily around 8pm. They simply said we couldn t cope bad customer service, they could have told us and we d go somewhere instead of waiting..disappointed and never go back.
Food was fine. I was charged for an item that was not in the bag when I got my take out order home. I contacted the restaurant and was told this item would be refunded to my card but it never was. Online ordering system gives a collection time but food was not ready for another 15 minutes after that. Worth being aware of if collecting.
Enjoyed our meal. Lots of flavour. Good quality ingredients. The team were very friendly.
Food was OK but hopeless service even though there were several servers and few customers. Zero atmosphere.
I just got a bite to eat here and really pleased I did. I had the pad kee mao which can be quite hit and miss but in this restaurant, definitely a hit. Really flavoursome and will definitely go back again. The only thing to be aware of is the portion size which was a little on the small side, ok for me as Im not a big eater but if you have an appetite on you, Id definitely order 2 portions which given the very reasonable prices, wont break the bank.
Can t rate the food as we didn t get that far. We were running slightly late due to personal reasons, and I work in hospitality, so I had the decency to call the restaurant. 8 times to add. Nobody answered ever. We ended up only being 4 minutes late, which generally is fine? As tables are held for 15 minutes, and I have literally never had a restaurant not do this, ever. Anyway, the woman behind the bar made a huge scene explaining how extremely late we were, that they gave our table away. After 4 minutes. The way she acted made me not want to sit and wait at all, restaurant was pretty empty as well so couldn t see the issue at 8pm at night. There was just no need to be so rude, especially in that kind of role. You do not know what people are going through Thankfully we called Asaya Thai restaurant not far & they got us a table straight away, restaurant was busy and everything was a lot nicer.
Very limited menu. I asked for the Papaya Salad without the burning hot dressing that it sometimes comes with. It was served with burning hot dressing so I was not able to eat it. Disappointing for me as I hoped for fresh ingredients and saw nothing else that looked appealing.
We regularly visit and have never had a bad meal, 100% recommend!
Absolutely beautiful Thai food at its very best. Lovely setting, great range of dishes and reasonable prices. Definitely the best Thai restaurant in Keswick.
Had a take away from here twice. The food was nice but items missing from our order the first time. On our next visit to Keswick we thought wed give it another try but we didnt actually receive any food after hanging around and waiting over an hour for our takeaway we cancelled the order. Everyone complaining that were sat in the restaurant. They said they were under staffed which is fair enough but just stop taking orders until youve caught up instead of letting people down! Terrible service.
A mixed bag. Main dishes were okay but the papaya salad didnt taste of papaya much and was unsubtly dressed with too much fish sauce and chili (very very hot) but no chili symbols on the menu at all to indicate heat level, so beware. Service was patchy, it was a fairly busy time on Saturday night, so didnt expect lightening, but it frustrated us that the young waiters didnt remove our pile of dirty dishes when wed finished despite being at the table multiple times, so we had to sit and breathe in the smelly fish sauce while waiting for our dessert. Talking about which, the banana in coconut soup dessert (dont know the proper name) is usually one of my faves, have always loved it but here it was ultra salty - so much salt it would have seemed excessive even in a savoury dish, which was very weird for a dessert. This made us not finish our desserts and when I mentioned it to the proprietor when he asked if wed enjoyed our food he just seemed surprised but didnt offer us another dessert or a reduction in the bill. I guess he realized we were visitors and unlikely to come again anyway. Prices were reasonable. It can be hard to find somewhere to eat in Keswick at busy times and I think this place is passable but I wouldnt choose to come again unless there was nowhere else to eat.
Very poor food and service
Went along for hubbys birthday meal. Amazing food and great service!!
Delicious and varied menu. Food very reasonably priced.
We got a very delicious takeaway here! The fishcakes were some of the best weve had! The Tom kha soup was yummy! The Thai green curry was the perfect amount of spice. Quite thin but extremely delicious. And the duck stir fry was excellent. Thai prawn crackers non greasy and yummy too! Really recommend it! Dietary restrictions: They had good gluten free options and explained them well
Food was very delicious Im very impressed is difficult to find Thai restaurants is suits me because the taste is do to suit western people will going back again next time and staff is brilliant take care with customers
Nice food and really friendly service. Didnt break the bank either.
Good flavours and attentive servers.
Lovely food, helpful and fun staff. We had a great meal here and really enjoyed the food. A wide variety is available on the menu. Food : 5/5 |
Foodwise, that might have been the best Thai restaurant Ive been to so far. I had four courses and each of them was really nice (it doesnt happen often). Food full of flavour, not just spicy. But not only is the food so nice, the prices are low, too! For four courses and 2 drinks, the bill was only £35. They might work a little bit on cleanliness as the crockery wasnt quite immaculate, unfortunately, but well, theyre not the only ones who struggle with this. Nevertheless, the food was very tasteful. Well done.
Gorgeous Thai food, excellent quality and price Highly recommend Food
The Best Thai restaurant in This Area! Don t miss it!
My wife and I had a very hit and miss experience on a Saturday night meal here. Upon entry the staff member didnt actually say anything to us after we gave our name for our reservation, she just grabbed the menus and walked off, leaving the menus on an empty table and then wandered off before we even sat down. We waited about 15 minutes before being offered drinks by which time we were also ready to order food. We asked for a beer, a 20cl individual bottle of prosecco and water for the table. We had to clarify the prosecco order 3 times, pointing to it specifically on the menu. Following our order being taken a different waitress then came to clarify the prosecco order again, then proceeded to bring an incorrect bottle of sparkling rosé. We had to ask a further two times until we received out water. For starters we had vegetable tempura and chicken satay. The vegetables were overcooked and were starting to go soft but they tasted fine. The satay sauce was tasty but the chicken was also overcooked and very dry. For mains we had a tofu red curry, a chicken pineapple curry and tofu pad thai. The tofu in both dishes was again overcooked and had that slightly gristley texture that comes with overcooking. The pineapple curry was absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal, although I would warn that it was much spicier than I was expecting. Not a problem for me but it would be for those with a preference for milder dishes! Following finishing our food we waited for our table to be cleared and after 15 minutes before growing impatient and just paying at the bar and leaving. Overall the food tasted good but was let down by the kitchen overcooking many items. The service was very poor from the outset, our drink order was incorrect, we had to ask multiple times for water and the table wasnt cleared for some time after we had finished. The bill came to £79 which I consider reasonable for the food ordered.
Little gem in Keswick city centre! Very nice dinner. Would defo recommend
Ordered a takeaway on a Saturday evening which was delicious. Arrived at the agreed time to collect our food although it wasnt going to be ready for another 10 minutes. It was definitely worth the wait though. We had spring rolls, chicken satay skewers, chicken pad Thai and a duck massaman curry. The best Thai meal weve ever had.
My first ever visit to a Thai restaurant. I know little about the cuisine so I thought Id give this place a try, having read the reviews here. I enjoyed it immensely. I started with the seafood soup, followed by the beef stir fry, ending with the banana fritters (sorry, I cant remember the proper names for those dishes!) All of them were delicious and will certainly be trying Thai food again thanks to these people. Highly recommended.
The food was fantastic. Tempura prawns some of the best Ive ever tasted. The duck was cooked to perfection with a beautiful sauce. Desserts were great. Couldnt fault a thing.
Sham of Siam - in our takeaway the portion of rice was minuscule, tasteless, and came in a plastic bag that it was obviously microwaved in! We were disgusted to find our vegan curry had large chunks of meat, and the tofu dish tasted terrible. We complained and asked for a refund, thankfully they gave us £10 back for the mix up with the vegan curry but refused any more than that despite it being inedible and thrown away. Unfortunately we will not be going back.
Was dealt with very quickly. Food tasted very good but was a very small portion. Plastic tray was about half full.
Really tasty food and great service no matter how busy. Really well priced. Definitely a gem of keswick!
Another fantastic place to eat for me and my wife it was a first time in a Thai restaurant words cant explain you must visit this restaurant for yourself the staff are very friendly and helpful with the menu if your not too sure about whats hot and whats not, great food great place.
Food is brilliant. Chicken and beef is halal. Panang curry and Thai steak was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Awesome Thai restaurant! Great customer service! Had chicken skewers, spring rolls (the nicely designed carrots are edible), pad thai, pad kee mow and yellow curry. The food was amazing! Highly recommend!
Very nice staff and delicious food!
Nice food and friendly staff
Whilst staying in Keswick overnight, I arrived at a hotel quite late and the food options for vegans were few and far between. It was around 15 minutes before the closing time and they kindly agreed to make food for 2 people. We were incredibly thankful that they were able to help us out as everywhere else was closed. The food was to a decent standard and the veggie platter was particularly nice. 10/10 customer service and a big thank you to helping 2 hungry vegans in their time of need.
Lovely dinner, great vegetarian choices. Vegetarian options: Plenty of options without fish sauce, including great hot and sour soup. Options with veggies or tofu
Fantastic food, great prices and nice atmosphere
I had the Singapore noodles with tofu and green and yellow peppers. Theyre delicious, but very filling. The staff were very accommodating, answering queries we had about the food and making sure we had everything we needed. The prices were reasonable too, but no big surprise as we were outside of London. Ill be sure to come here if I visit Keswick again.
Unauthentic but good tasting food
Great Thai restaurant, good service and food just a bit pricey
Excellent Thai food in the Lakes District! This is a gem; they have excellent service and outstanding food, possibly the best Thai food Ive ever had. Love this place!
3 excellent meals in a week. The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from outside. All the food tasted very authentically Thai, properly flavoured and suitable portion size. Friendly staff. Ive lived and worked in Thailand and wouldnt have been disappointed if this food had been served to me there! Highly recommended.
Terrrrrible such a bad experience First of all, they told me no tables available ,, one hour waiting time, I told them I m ok with leaving my name,, suddenly there is a table,, I was like ok, I ll bite.. she came to take my orders and I saw some recommendations online, so I was about to ask her about the details of the soup and curry options.. she said (is it not written here?) I was instantly put off Details were not there! Mind you Anyway,, my order Tom Yom soup which in general I love and adore and I eat it all the time (at home and at thai fusion restaurants))) the sad soup that came was disgusting and bland and I think they just dumped the whole mushroom package on it (see pictures) ,, I didn t finish quarter of it Then the second sad order, the seafood special (special my ***) (curry order) It was watery as hell, I had to throw out the meaty part of shell the moment I put it in my mouth,, sandy and hard to chew Worst part there was a chicken piece in my SEAFOOD dish after I highlighted for her I don t want anything red meat or chicken in anything tonight Overall not pleasant and not worth the price I was looking forward to it because I didn t had anything since breakfast and most of the reviews were good
Ordered online. Food was a little later than suggested so grabbed a beer at the bar. Food was amazing and worth the wait. The chicken panang was perfect. Would recommend.
Star of Siam is not only the best Thai restaurant in Keswick, but prepare the best Thai food weve had in quite a while. The service was quick and efficient, a massive improvement from just after the initial lockdown when they were struggling for staff. Highly recommended.
The red curry is da bomb, yo.
Food was good but the service was slow. Prices are decent.
We went for a lunch that too at the time of closing. We were received well and the ambience of this place is that you are instantly transported to Thailand with the lighting, the music and paintings/ statues etc. Coming to food, the menu is vast but in case of queries, the manager will be happy to clarify everything. The food was brought to us very fast inspite of us ordering about 10 dishes. Definitely a worth try especially the fried rice. Also for spicy dishes, pls try the jungle dishes. Hot for the taste buds Parking: Parking is to be done on nearby carparks only. Its a busy high street and no parking on this street
Freakin delicious food and lovely people
Great food in keswick, had a takeaway twice, short wait and friendly staff. The Best pad Thai since being in Thailand Id definitely come back next time.
Excellent service and a terrific meal! Staff very friendly and hard working, food delicious hot and delivered on time. We collected a take away. Meal for 5 of us and we really enjoyed! Superb red Thai chicken curry! Hope to return. Well done!
Just had a take away from here , it was possibly the worst Thai meal I have had. It was cold, flavourless and really salty. There we re only 4 small prawns in the pad Thai it was mainly stodgy noodles .The rice was just cheap rice with no flavour . There was only 2 tables being served in the restaurant so no excuse that they were busy. Complete waste of money. I had to give it one star as the wasn t a zero.
Authentic Thai,good prices,excellent service.
Very nice place lovely food would I recommend yes I would Nice staff as well
Great Asian food
Food was dreadful, tasteless and I m not even sure what the meat was
Amazing Thai restaurant, all the staff are lovely , the food is exceptional, highly recommend!
I try to come here every time Im in Keswick. The food here is fantastic. They also welcome well behaved dogs which is very cool.
The fired rice is the worst food I ve ever tasted. It really confused me there s chicken in my beef fired rice.
Fabulous food. Brilliant stuff. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Lovely surroundings, good service, great food - really good Thai meal
Lovely restaurant, great service, and mind blowing food!! We re vegan, we re able to order most items veganised! The jungle curry, pad Thai, and the Penang curry are to die for. Will come back again. This place is a gem!!
The place is set out so nicely, the staff were friendly, Ian the manager was very talkative coming to check on us.. the food was very tasty and just the right amount .. definitely go again xx
Excellent meal. Four of us had diffrent main meals and each of us were very pleased with the food. Service was good and all in all we had no complaints at all.
Lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Staff very friendly. Great place to have our last meal while on holiday.
Great food....great value....all good.
I had a very enjoyable evening meal. The Thai Fishcakes are delicious and I would highly recommend them as a starter. For mains I had Red Curry Chicken which was bursting with fresh flavours. The table service was attentive and the staff are very polite and welcoming. If you re in Keswick, give this a try. You will not regret it.
Excellent choice. Great ambience!
