Been here a few times and have always suggested it to friends as a good place to eat! They’ve got a rotating menu each season it seems, service is always great, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.
Good bao buns. A little short on flavor but beautiful presentation. The Mount Fuji cocktail was amazing. Chicken Karaage was deadly. Coconut Daiquiri was kinda bad.
Great service! My partner and I had made a reservation and were warmly welcomed at the door, though I think you would be fine walking in as well. The space is cute and clean and perfect for a date night. The server happily accommodated my partner’s nut allergies. Highly recommend the shiitake wontons and the spicy bbq pork. The plum sour cocktail was also phenomenal. If ever you’re in Kingston, it’s worth stopping by!
Enjoyed the karage, Taiwanese braised pork belly baos, and the Korean pork belly with sides. The karage was basically a takoyaki dressed fried chicken with bonito fish flakes and the same kind of sauce. It was good. The pork belly baos were boring, the meat was braised to a soft texture but it had no personality, it was in some light soy marinate. The bun was immaculate though, very squishy to the poke and delicious. Overall, the bao was pretty to look at but boring to eat. However, the Korean pork belly with the lettuce wrap, soy paste, sesamee oil, and kimchi, which was also served with rice, was very delicious. The pork was seasoned to a perfect spice and the dips were authentic. Make a reservation if showing up on Friday evening as it gets busy. It was quite loud and difficult to hear the person trying to talk right next to me.
My friends and I visited this place for their iconic feast. The food was good and well prepared, it was clear there is a lot of thought that goes into it. The drinks are small, but are very good. The waiters are not super attentive. I do find this place to be a little more expensive than it should be for the quality they offer. But overall pretty good restaurant.
A very cute, trendy little spot in the heart of Kingston. Beautifully decorated, and the servers are lovely. The cocktails were amazing! The bartender really knows what he's doing. The food is very good. We enjoyed our visit and would definitely go back, if only for the cocktails!
I would recommend Miss Bao's for any kind of outing- meeting up with friends, going on a date, or taking your parents out for dinner. Their cocktails are divine and there's something on the menu for everyone, with all of it being absolutely delicious! The staff are fantastic and very helpful, especially with navigating food allergies. They get really busy around 7pm, so if you're going for dinner, make a reservation! It's worth it!
The food is always great, the service is perfect, but Damn whoever designed this place didn’t understand acoustics. It’s crazy loud, and during Student season in Kingston it’s almost unbearable to eat inside. You can’t hear your fellow dinners speak. Back to the food, love the menus and of your prone to sharing it’s perfect that each Boa order comes in two’s. We usually order a bunch of variations and take one each when they arrive.I do wish there was a bit more variety topping wise, some of the Boa get a bit similar tasting even it the protein is different simply due to the strong flavours used.
Our waiter Jon was amazing! The service, drinks and food were delicious and so beautifully presented! Definitely becoming a regular here
I recently visited Miss Bao, and while the drinks and ambiance were top-notch, it was Kat behind the bar who truly made the evening extraordinary. Her knowledge of cocktails and beverage pairings was unmatched she masterfully crafted each drink with precision and creativity, perfectly aligning them with the flavors we were craving. From inventive twists on classic cocktails to her own original concoctions, every sip was a revelation. Kat s expertise didn t stop at crafting drinks; her ability to recommend pairings that enhanced our overall experience was impressive. She took the time to understand our preferences and delivered recommendations that were spot on, elevating both the cocktails and the food we enjoyed alongside them. What truly set Kat apart, however, was her kind demeanor and electric personality. Her energy lit up the bar, creating an atmosphere that was as welcoming as it was lively. She effortlessly balanced professionalism with a vibrant charm, making everyone feel like a VIP. Her quick wit and sense of humor added a much-needed touch of fun, turning a great night into a truly memorable one. Kat isn t just a bartender; she s an artist and entertainer rolled into one. If you re at Miss Bao, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar. Her talent, warmth, and infectious personality will guarantee an unforgettable experience. Thank you, Kat, for making our evening exceptional!
Absolutely, amazing food and I would recommend it to anyone!
EDIT: I emailed the owner. Im awaiting their reply. ------------ Good food overall, but VERY expensive for the tiny portions. CAREFUL: if the owner offers to make you some special drink as a gift that is NOT in the menu, make sure to ask him specifically if youre going to pay it. He made it sound it was a treat offered by the restaurant, but we had to pay for it.
I asked for a seat at the bar last night & the waitress (tattoos) said she would clear a spot, as there were only two people sitting, but when she came to seat me, she asked me multiple times about a booth or table instead. I decided to take a table because it felt strange that she was strongly pushing me to another space. Within 20 minutes my waitress was sitting at the bar eating with the two people there, who I assume are her coworkers or friends so unprofessional & obvious you didn t want customers sitting there so you could take your break. The tofu was also very old tasting. Overall disappointing experience, only savior were the drinks.
All of the staff here are so kind and sweet, the food is fantastic, and the vibes especially during the late nights is amazing!! A must try
Excellent food and wide ranging menu, fantastic cocktails and friendly service. Would absolutely recommend this place to a friend for a nice, upscaled dining experience
Miss Bao is just the place to be! The food is amazing, rich in flavours, texture, colours. The cocktails are stunningly delicious and creative. The staff is adooorable! On my visit, the place was relatively quiet (Sunday evening) but even then, the ambiance was very nice and we had lots of fun! Also shout out for their sustainable and responsible practices: zero-waste, locally sourced produces, etc... Vegetarian options: While some dishes are fully meat-based, many are vegetarian and they are absolutely phenomenal!
Wonderful place to get a quality meal at a decent price! Nice atmosphere inside as well. Had the pork belly bao, deep fried wontons and chicken karaage; all were incredibly tasty. We received the food fairly quickly at peak dinner hours when the restaurant was full, and our waiter was very friendly/attentive. All things considered, Id highly recommend having a meal here!
We were driving through Kingston and looked up the best places to eat. I am so glad we found this spot! The service was attentive and friendly, the decor thoughtful and elegant, and the food SO TASTY! I wish I lived closer so I could come back more often. Well done, Miss B o!
A fantastic spot for both cocktails and cuisine. Every cocktail we tried was outstanding, and the dishes we shared were equally impressive. Im already looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu I cant wait to try everything they offer!
Kat at Miss Bao is so amazing her drinks are so GOOD (life changing) and her service is wonderful! Everyone there is so lovely and so helpful 10/10 would recommend
I really wanted to love this restaurant. The food is just terrible. I couldn t eat it. It was cold, bitter, really tough. Their cocktails are small, but good and the service is fine. The restaurant is lovely and the owner is really nice! I would give it another try if they redid their whole menu.
Good cocktails and creative dishes. Would definitely return.
Kind of pricey for Bao, but the food and cocktails are delicious.
Miss Bao catered our backyard wedding in May 2024 and they were the highlight of the entire event. In preparation for the event, they were responsive and easy to communicate with. They were even flexible with last minute changes. We selected five dishes to serve which were all hits, even to our pickier guests. On the day of the event, the team was totally self sufficient, making themselves at home in our kitchen. Zach is one of the friendliest and most professional individuals weve ever met. Him and his team added to the fun of our cocktail hour and were loved by all of our guests. Their team was diligent with the service timing we requested, and left our kitchen in a better state than they found it. Even weeks after the event, our guests continue to comment on the food that was served by Miss Bao! We were proud to serve our guests the highest quality food from the best restaurant in Kingston. When we visit the restaurant, we are welcomed with excitement each time. If you want your event to be special and memorable, we can t recommend catering by Miss Bao enough. Vegetarian options: Several plant based and vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: Several plant based options, menu items are well described for allergies.
one of the best restaurants i ve ever been to period, let alone in kingston. the food was absolutely incredible. the pork belly b o, the tan tan noodles, and the wontons were must-try. also, audrey was an amazing and super sweet waiter. prices arent really cheap but are absolutely justified by how good the food is. 11/10 cannot recommend enough
Tried out the new menu and definitely recommend it! The return of bánh xèo lights up the summer
Happened to pick this place because the menu could accommodate 2 members of our party who had dietary restrictions, and Im really glad we did. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was excellent, everything looked and tasted great. We particularly liked the bao! Dietary restrictions: The staff were very accommodating and answered several questions we had, and they were able to make a few changes such as toppings on the side rather than on shared items
One of my favourite places to get cocktails in Kingston! Bartenders never miss, every drink Ive had here has been incredible. The Tom Yam Siam is my favourite, the coconut rum, lychee and lime flavours pair so well with the slight spice from the chili. I also recommend the Yuzu no Hana, a beautifully citrus and refreshing drink.
Super delicious food, innovative cocktails, friendly service and very reasonable prices. What more can you ask for?
Very different from what we are used to, but very enjoyable experience. Our waiter was excellent and the meal was extremely tasty. Menu is limited but well organized and presented.
Food, whiskey bar, staff were as great as the food. Kid-friendliness: A little up scale for active kids, Food : 5/5 |
I loved the pork belly bao buns! Just toooooooo good. Great ambience!!
The noddles taste so bad,and only one Bao taste good
Ive been visiting Miss Bao for years but have always been impressed by the seasonal menus and the new drinks. Just tried the sake tasters and they are a must try.
Pretty good pork and mushroom bao. Other items (tan tan and curry) were overpriced for the quality/quantity with way better offerings available in town. Service was fine.
We had take out. The food was remarkably delivious. The server went above and beyond with our order, getting our dog companion some fresh ice water and sourcing a couple of bamboo forks.
The best food and best date night! My husband and I love going to Miss Bao! We love sharing a lot of different plates and the price for two is really reasonable compared to a lot of other restaurants now days! I highly recommend coming here :)
Two of us came and shared the following: Pork belly boa - tasty and tender. Not very big. Tan tan noodles - savoury and very good depth of flavour (could use some vegetables to round out the dish). Shrimp / pork wontons- they were good but almost too crispy. The sauce was good with a little heat. Chicken karage - we both really enjoyed the flavour and tenderness of the chicken. The sauce with squirt of lemon was delicious. Tiramisu - this was made with tea instead of espresso- it was perfect for one person and had a mellow earl grey type flavour with rich custard like texture. it was very good and not overly sweet. The food was very tasty and beautiful but the portions are small and served tapas style. I would enjoy additional vegetable options/sides. My only complaint is that the servings are small and you have to order a lot to leave full. We probably each could have ordered another dish. We left and my bf asked what he can have for a snack later We spent about 85$ for two people - just food, no drinks. I would plan to spend about 50$ per person (approx 3 dishes each) just on food to ensure we didn t leave hungry. The staff was friendly and efficient. It s busy little place so make a reservation and request a booth. If you go in the winter dress warm because the entrance is direct and brings in a lot of cool air. Overall though, it was a nice experience and the food is delicious.
A very enjoyable time
Miss Bão was by far one of my favourite restaurants in Kingston while studying at Queen s. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the staff are super friendly! Will definitely have to go back when I am visiting Kingston! Highly recommend this place to anyone on the hunt for a quick and easy bite!
Amazing! Food was great, drinks were great, and service was great! Zack is the friendliest guy around. Will DEFINITELY be coming back!
Very nice place with delicious food! A very nice discovery in Kingston.
Amazing cocktails and food.
Cool little spot and loved trying some new dishes. Service was a little funky but I think they had a lot of new staff. Some of what we tried was a little underwhelming, especially for the price, but overall we enjoyed our meal.
mmm yummy
Favorite restaurant in Kingston! I love eating here, and I always recommend it to people when they ask me for an intimate, delicious, and incredible dining experience. During my last visit, Ella was so sweet and helpful. She made our whole experience so personal, and overall elevated our dining experience. Cant wait to eat here again soon!
Such an amazing spot! I picked up takeout here over a year ago to try this place for the first time and just went back to dine-in with a friend. Being there this time reminded me of the excellent service they provide. Incredible communication, kind, knowledgeable staff. They inform you of the style of restaurant if youre new and recommendations on how to best enjoy it. They enquire about allergies. They quality check. They clear as you go. Theu chat as little or as much aa you like. Truly the best. The dishes are not only beautifully plated, but they taste amazing. Hands down one of my new fave spots in Kingston. They deserve all the praise! I enjoyed the mushroom wontons, tofu bao, mushroom bao, and red curry.
I had slightly higher expectations given the huge hype around this place, but the food was kind of underwhelming, portions were smaller than expected and the service was okay on a busy thursday. The best part of the meal was the pork and tofu Baos, and the appetizers were good as well. We were not a fan of the chicken bao, it was lacking sauce and seasoning, and I would recommend to skip the Red Thai Curry. Our dishes were not warm when they came out. There are just better places in Kingston for the price.
Some of the best food in Kingston. Very friendly staff and an amazing sake selection. Seriously I cannot say enough about the food. Highly recommend the satay chicken.
I love Miss Bao! Everything is excellent. I recommend the Bao sampler plus a second order of mushroom Bao. Cocktails are also delicious.
Dinner was delicious, We ordered the mountain fugi which was sweet and refreshing, and also the spicy espresso martini and Tom yam siam, I recommend trying them all. For food we ordered the Japanese fried chicken and all varieties of boa, all of which were delicious. Excellent tapa experience. Are server was excellent as well.
You cannot go wrong with a Bão bun!
As soon as I walked in, I knew I came to the right place. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The food options offer something for everyone. The cocktails......artistry. 100 percent recommend Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options that arent the simplistic cauliflower or goat cheese menu items. Love it
Lesson learned - if you go to a place with bao in the name, you should likely just order the bao. My husband and I started with the Crispy Shitake Wontons, which were cute and tasty but just almost on the verge of having too much 5-spice powder (heavy anise flavour). His main was the Korean BBQ pork belly. He thought taste was ok, but pork belly was undercooked and soggy/greasy instead of crispy. Nice presentation with various sauces. My main was the Thai Red Curry. Now, I love a red curry, and have eaten my share of them. This...tasted nothing like it should have. It was watery, and very sharp tasting, with a very, very unpleasant flavour. I cant even place what it tasted like but it was quite chemical tasting and harsh. It came with roasted veg that were far too oily but otherwise ok, and roasted chickpeas, which were fine. I did my best but ended up leaving 80% of it behind. Not in a hurry to return.
Wonderful - Ill be back!
Fine Asian fusion food and nice cocktails. Dont forget to book a table ahead, its packed! Best food we had in Kingston so far, but the bill is as spicy as the food. Food : 5/5
So delicious. Very very kind and helpful service, wonderful food. Managed a vegan/ nut allergy super well! Highly recommend Vegetarian options: Great vegan food!
Went here on a first date and it was incredible. Food, drinks, staff were all 10/10
Yummy food, very good beer and cocktails, and super friendly staff!
Delicious bao, specifically the satay chicken and sweet chili mushroom bao. Full of flavour and a lot of filling. The tofu bao was lacking in flavour and needed something else to lift it. The braised pork belly bao is great if you love pork belly! The Burmese tea leaf salad almost tasted like pesto which was neat. Nice atmosphere and friendly service
Inside and outside seating, a nice comfy bench to sit side by side. Service was great and if you go you have to try the tea salad! It was unbelievable! We loved it. We had amazing drinks and two small plates for under 50$. Price is reasonable considering the quality is stellar! Vegetarian options: Get the tea salad! You wont be disappointed.
Waitress was very friendly, environment quickly became really loud and uncomfortable, food was mediocre and is a horrible value for money
Appropriate portions and freaking awesome
Love the concept. Pork bao were great loved the toppings. The chicken karage wasn t my favourite - pieces of chicken were large and chewy and needed more sauce to make them interesting. Smaller saucy bites would be best. The tantan noodles were good, nothing memorable - a cozy bowl of soup Lovely service and appreciated the non alc drink options
I had to knock off 1 star because there was an issue with our reservation, but the staff were super helpful and managed to seat us on the patio. So other than going to the restroom I cant speak too much on the atmosphere. The food was incredible! We shared the deep fried wontons, bao trio and tan tan noodles. The service was fantastic. I didnt get our servers name , but he was great! Am looking forward to going back. And will triple check on my reservation next time.
I like to grab the Bao by the Buns and make them go Miss-ing. HUMHUMHUMHM
Excellent food with artsy look. The mushroom Bao is really something else! I recommend this place to all my friends who ask me for the best Chinese restaurant in town.
5* Kingston but 4 on my regular scale of being spoiled by food in the GTA. Pork belly baos are the best thing on the menu. Tasty and great texture with the fatty bites. Food : 4/5
We had a great visit from start to finish. We really enjoyed the food. It was fresh and tasty. We got a chance to meet the owner and he was pleasant and made sure his guests were taken care of. We will definitely be back! Thank You Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free, vegetarian. And ask you if you have any dietary restrictions
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food is delicious. The hosts are attentive and caring.
Friendly staff and amazing food!
Delicious and elevated asian fusion. Stsff seemd somewhat clumsy-one server spilled my husbands veer on him and the floor, and then set it on the table without offering to refill the spilled amount. Another server dropped tray of glasses and broken glass bounced onto our table from floor and back to floor. Third server twice kicked my husbands foot which is in a very observable cast . Granted it is welcome back weekend for Queen s and they were super busy and perhaps staff was new? Food was amazing tho! I would go back!
I was encouraged to try this place out when I saw the high ratings, but have left utterly confused. The decor is pretty, and it may be a cute place to grab a drink (although we didn t try out the cocktail menu, so I can t speak to that), but that s where my positive review starts and ends. We ordered the chicken satay bao, the tofu bao, the mushroom bao, and the red Thai curry- none which I can recommend. The bao bun itself was not fluffy or pillowy like it should be and the fillings for all 3 lacked flavour. The toppings were sparse and bland, so there were just no redeeming qualities. Then the Thai red curry came, and the disappointment continued. It felt like they mixed maybe 1/4 teaspoon of red Thai curry paste with coconut milk, microwaved (some poorly cooked) minute rice, and served it up. The vegetables it was served with were fine, but that s about it. We also paid $6 to add Satay chicken to the dish, but again, so bland. There was also a poor rice/veggie/chicken to curry sauce ratio. I ve been to a few Asian Fusion restaurants before, and have had amazing bao, so I wonder if the positive reviews are from people that haven t tried these types of food before? Also, at the end of our meal, I used the bathroom at the end of the hallway which was labelled as the accessible washroom. They seem to use this washroom as a storage room. There was a bike blocking the toilet, boxes of miscellaneous items, garbage, and random things in the sink. I made sure to double check the signage when I left to ensure it wasn t labelled as staff use/ out of order because I was so confused. It wasn t safe or functional for someone that would need an accessible washroom. All in all, a disappointing experience. I hope they can improve their recipes, because when Asian Fusion is done well, it can be INCREDIBLE!
The hours labeled here on google maps say 10pm, but this restaurant decided to close the kitchen at 9pm! When arriving at 9:05pm, we were quite rudely turned away, even though we explained that we live 90 minutes away, and even after explaining that we had been stuck on a ferry for over an hour. I ve eaten here before and I know the food is good. But this kind of service is entirely unacceptable. I will never try to give this business my money again.
After God created the heavens and earth, seperated the seas and skies, gathered the waters and grew the vegetation, they created Sol our server. We came here for our anniversary and have NO regrets. 5/5 recommend.
The wontons and the main plates are amazing! Fresh lemonade and good drinks!
Flavours, aromas, ambience, this restaurant is one of my most favourite restaurants in Ontario
Great atmosphere and amazing food! Highly recommend trying the soup dumplings! Incredible flavors in every dish!
Baos were so good; and crispy wontons a must.
Surprised based on the ratings. Stopped in on the drive from Montreal to Toronto. Decent vibe. Decent service. Crispy Shiitake wontons 3/5 Mushroom lentil pate 1/5 Szechuan tofu Bao 2/5 Ate and ran. Shouldve stopped for pizza
Reviews are very misleading. Stopped while driving between Montreal and Toronto with high expectations, left very disappointed. Crispy wonton - nothing special small bites that might have been better steamed. Tasty dipping sauce that likely came from a bottle. Mushroom pate - horrible. Dominate taste was oil. Texture slimy. Fried rice paper oily. Tofu bao - I think they forgot the flavor. Bao bun, fried tofu and a slice of cucumber. Really?? Great idea poor execution. Maybe the non-veggie options are better.... At least it didnt break the bank.
Top notch ... doesnt get much better on ALL counts ! Highly recommend
Service was good but food wasnt the best. Mushroom pate was okay and mushrooms wonton was good. The bao I ordered was cold and not warm/hot at all, had one bite and lost my appetite.
Nice restaurant with excellent service and environment!!! Highly recommend!
Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and drinks there. There is a good selection of plant-based options. We did feel that their tofu bao could use a little more flavor. The atmosphere is nice, albeit slightly noisy when a full house. We would definitely go back!
Delicious every time! A favourite for sure
Been trying to get in here since it opened, We finally had the opportunity and we were not disappointed. Together we sampled two apps, three baos, and one main. Everything was perfect, bursting with flavour and well balanced. I Will definitely be back. Thanks.
We ordered the Kingstonlicious dinner for my birthday tonight. It was a very generous 4 course meal. The pickled edamame could have been a bit more sour. The bao buns were really nice. We both really enjoyed the red curry with satay chicken. It was nice and spicy. I loved the poached pear with crumble. I would love to return to have dinner inside sometime.
11/10 experience. Everything was outstanding from start to finish. I recieved a prompt reply from their Instagram account when inquiring about reservations and they asked about allergies/sensitivities right off the bat. We were seated promptly when we arrived even though we were a little early. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The over all atmosphere was so relaxing, the music was very soothing and not too loud. I adored the decor, and everything was plated so beautifully (I had to stop myself from putting the pink chopsticks in my purse.) Lastly, everything we ordered tasted phenomenal. I asked my server to surprise me with a drink and she picked Tom Yam Siam - it was delightfully spicy and sweet. We ordered the shiitake wontons, karaage, miso eggplant dip, spicy Korean BBQ pork, and Bao sampler (tofu, chicken and pork Bao.) Hands down best tofu I have ever tasted. I did not expect the shiitake wantons to taste they way they did but I was so pleasantly surprised. I will be dreaming about those wantons until my next visit.
Everything was perfect! Great service and super yummy food!
From the moment the drinks and plates landed on my table it created a symphony of flavors on my palate, I couldn t stop myself from doing my happy food dance. If I had more room I would ve tried everything on the menu but I ll be back for more of their exquisite food. Don t hesitate just go and experience the great food and chill vibe.
Cute place! Nice drinks and delicious bao. Husband and I got the fried chicken, and bao samplers with tofu, pork and chicken and the tofu bao was the best! Every bao was slightly on the salty side and the pork one was a liiiittle bit more fatty than I would have liked but overall will definitely be back to have more drinks and to try other dishes. Thank you!
Great food options, but the bao and the cocktails steal the show and are a must-try! Absolutely delicious and creative, the quality is superb as was the service. My new favorite place to eat in Kingston!
I m not one to leave much reviews but for my experience at Miss Bao last night I have to give a huge shout out to the owners. Over and beyond my expectations! Amazing food, great atmosphere and drinks created carefully by a true mixologist! What makes this place so unique also is the fact that 0 trash is thrown out!! They recycle and do their own compost with the food scraps. When your in Kingston make sure to stop in!! I ll be back soon, Thanks Again guys 12/10 Jay
Best vegan food in Kingston, nailed it! Staff treats you like family, make a reservation though they re busy.
Fab cocktails and their pork bao is amazing!
Dear Miss B o, Your braised pork belly b o was completely satisfying, as was every other meal we ordered from your menu. However, the Far East Side cocktails were what made my night, just spectacular! Great decor and ambiance here; the food and drink delivers.
Delicious food and a great experience! We had the pork belly bao, karaage, grilled pork, and Earl Grey infused cocktail. It was all so tasty and the atmosphere is lovely. A must-try for any Kingston foodie! Edited to add: it is very clear that the owner cares about environmental sustainability! They use compostable pasta straws and prompt for you to compost paper towels in the bathroom. I also think I saw that they grow their own herbs. Really cool!
Really good food and very friendly staff! I definitely recommend the pork belly bao and the crispy wonton. The servers were friendly and didnt mind that our toddler had a meltdown and our baby was fussy. The ambience was very cool, Id go again!
Miss Baos took on the incredible task of hosting our wedding dinner and reception - and they did it on very little notice. They were extremely accommodating in creating menu options for our guests - especially when it came to guests with extreme allergies. Their staff were absolutely amazing at handling our rambunctious children and noisy guests - every person in attendance felt taken care of. The food, was beyond words. I have never eaten anything so delicious in my entire life. Their bao will now be a weekly staple in our diets. I cannot say enough about how amazing their service and food is - and their values of sustainability are equally present in the care and attention to detail of their space and menu. If you havent been, please do yourself the honour of attending - your mouth will thank you, and your soul will be rejuvenated as you truly learn the meaning of hospitality.
We LOVED our vegan meal here last night.. Had the Crispy Shiitake Wontons, Miso Eggplant, Szechuan Tofu Bao and Sweet Shoyu Mushroom Bao. The bao were jaw dropping good. I said out loud, What the F is going on here - it had been so long since I had such complex and satisfying flavors. Definitely recommend the Tom Yam Siam cocktail! Was a very busy night but service and food was flawless - next time we will make a reservation, though! We will be back!
Delicious! I only wish it was open more often. Very short operating hours.
Perfect for a night out! Although a little pricey, I enjoyed the vibes here and the food was on point. The bao sampler was very delicious - the Taiwanese braised pork bao tasted authentic and brought me back to my time in Taipei. The ochazuke however, was a letdown... The taste was a tad too bland and I wish they used a stronger blend of green tea. Special note on the excellent service! Our server was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. Well be back if we ever visit Kingston again.
This restaurant is excellent. The food is perfect, and the service is the best youll find. I meant to try a few different restaurants while in Kingston, but I went to Miss Bao first, got hooked, and ate here every day. Genuinely some of the most beautiful food, and friendly service Ive ever had. Serious props to everyone working there.
The pork filling in the bao I got, the apple cider and the karaage were all delicious. Staff were friendly and the restaurant itself is very nice. One star off as the buns (the bread part) were pretty dry, and the mushroom Bao I got had like, three mushrooms in it and was mostly greens (very little filling). The portions on all the appetizers and meals are quite small. I ve definitely had as good of bao at restaurants in Toronto with a similar vibe for a more reasonable price, though I strongly respect Miss Bao s commitment to sustainability and to providing vegan and allergen-free options.
Great food but we went there and got kicked out after barely an hour because there were other reservations. We wanted to order more food but were told we had to free the table after waiting for 45 mins for our food. The music was so loud we barely could speak. Food 5/5 but service was definitely improvable.
Miss Bao has easily become my favourite restaurant in Kingston. The flavours are insanely good and the service is always amazing. Have been there 5+ times and it is consistently great. Such a good vibe in there always. The summer menu is delicious!!!
First impression: the restaurant is beautiful and would be a suitable spot for dates or girls night out. For some reason our table got cold service . In comparison to the tables next to us, which the server warmly greeted and gave dish recommendations(I think most guests were happy and well taken care of). The same server bare spoke with us when it s our turn to order, my friend and I felt that we were treated differently. And it s fine, I don t like to chat at all. But when it s time to pay she instantly got friendly and chatty. Tbh this is what made me very uncomfortable. The restaurant wasn t so busy when we visited on the Friday evening at 6:30. But the service is incredibly slow. We waited for too long for the few bites of food. I wouldn t recommend the Tofu Bao as the tofu was tasteless and wasn t fresh. And all of the bao buns are not soft enough for my liking. I went home and threw up I don t know if my body was acting up because of the food. My friend s stomach also didn t feel good. Unfortunately, overall the restaurant let us down, sadly money not well spent.
This meal was fabulous. Everything was super flavourful and well executed. The service and atmosphere were perfect too. We had the karaage, mushroom bao and spicy Korean pork. They were all very delicious. Definitely worth checking out!
Amazing food and great service. So so delicious. Only lost 1 star because one dish (mushroom Bao) was far too heavy on the chili oil without warning. Highly recommend the cocktail After the Rain, incredibly delicate balanced flavours. Booth and accessible table seating available. Will return for sure!
Excellent. My husband and I are new to Kingston, and we keep going back to Miss Bao. The service and food have been impeccable each time. Kudos to the front of house who were able to accommodate a last minute dine-in request for 7 adults and a baby. The atmosphere in the restaurant is trendy, but not pretentious. There s an indoor herb garden, gender-neutral bathroom, and the servers are friendly. the food. The pork belly bao that they serve is comparable to some of the bao I ve had in Taiwan and the Philippines. Seasoning is on point, and the fat is rendered to perfection. Vegetarians , the tofu bao is just as good. Fried crisp, but not greasy. The cocktails are delicious (and seasonal) and worth the occasional splurge. Pricing can be a little expensive. If you are looking to get cocktails, an order of bao, and a shared appetizer, expect to spend upwards of 35$ per person.
We came across the restaurant by chance and were very impressed. Good service with an attentive waitress and very good food!!
Great Food and cocktails, enjoyed the outdoor seating
Nice server, good bartender, and great location. Really good concept.
Delicious food and some of the best and most creative cocktails in town. Tried the Bao, some cocktails, and a variety of the small plates, the flavours were exquisite on all fronts and you could taste the high quality of the ingredients.
Had a great experience here. The braised pork belly Bao is top notch.
This place has done an excellent job for the target audience, the younger and hipper crowd, who are not there just for the food but to also have a good time with friends (and family) all while sipping on some creative cocktails and have a bite or two. I admire the owners for this and I think it s very befitting the city of Kingston. We should have more of these culinary minds in Canada and kudos to the Miss Bao team for this. However, on a long Labour Day weekend with the house packed, the food was served very slow for two families with two pre-teen kids. My sister-in-law and family didn t get to eat until an hour after ordering! The waiter was very apologetic though. The bao s, wonton and karaage are good. I especially liked the sweet shoyu mushroom bao. The braised pork I found too fatty but taste is good. I didn t care about the kimchi flatbread and banh xeo. The red curry that my sister-in-law ordered looked too saucy and they didn t particularly enjoyed it too much.
A hidden gem! If you want something that is authentic, unique and just delicious check out miss Bao-! The food is amazing Amazing food , their cocktails are just incredible and atmosphere is so organic ! This is definitely a must for anyone who lives in Kingston or just visiting! Vegetarian options: And vegan options
Good service and great baos! We were a little disappointed with the root salad but the baos were very flavorful (especially the mushroom) and the cocktails were amazing. A stylish spot, great for a date night.
Home of exceptional food, staff, drinks, and atmosphere. A Kingston ON must go - you will not get better cocktails in the whole city. Aside from their outstanding menu, you will find yourself in a vibrant and upbeat but casual destination.
Everything was fantastic!
What a great atmosphere! The staff are great, the music, decor, taste of the food is so worth it! Definitely not something I can make at home! . Will definitely return.
We waited for 25 minutes after we were seated for someone to arrive and take our drink order! That said, the food is good (not Toronto quality but at least you arent paying Toronto prices) and once we had a server she was very kind. Warning: if you are allergic to nuts you will definitely be missing out here as they are a prominent feature of many dishes. You can get the dishes without nuts but they wont be as good.
So very delicious! The cocktails are wonderful and perfectly balanced. Definitely worth the visit, make sure you call ahead to reserve or go late and sit at the bar. Thank you for my late night nightcap while visiting from Vancouver!
This place is awesome !! The food was superb and the customer service was above and beyond.
Could we put 6 stars? Amazing food, fine and delicate flavors, very nice staff, wonderful experience Yep hanks! We ll definitely come back! Kid-friendliness: Came with 4 kids Not a problem Very patient and welcoming staff
Food, drinks and service are amazing at this cute restaurant. Their owners are such swehearts toi. Def will be back next time we are in Kingston!
Absolutely amazing! Do yourself a favour come with friends and share a few different items so you get the full experience. Best service and food in town!
A lovely place to go that is focused on being 0 waste and delicious. The food is always elegant and there are many vegetarian options. The venue is always packed, with not the greatest hours but if you can make it, its a great experience. Would bring friends and family here. Vegetarian options: Many tofu and mushroom based options! Not just subs by taking out the meat.
Loved the place amazing service and super tasty food Loved Schezwan tofu Bao the most and the crispy crepe was just amazing . Variety of sake is really good .Our server helped us selecting sake
It was my first time in Kingston and I wanted to dine somewhere with great food & cocktails. Miss Bao exceeded our expectations for both! Very friendly staff, great service and a nice space. We enjoyed the shitake wontons, karage. The Taiwanese pork belly baos and Tan Tan noodles were exceptionally good. Probably the best baos I have ever had. Would come back in a heartbeat.
This place is hands down one of the best restaurants in Kingston. The creative but concise menu, unique cocktails, delicious food, and gorgeous atmosphere set it apart from any other place downtown. And I wish I could give more stars just for the service - the staff & management know how to treat guests and always provide an amazing experience.
Great staff, owners are super involved, and food is home style and comfort. Highly recommended
My husband and I went for dinner as a date night. It was such a great experience. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Atmosphere was warm and cozy. Great service and friendly staff. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
Sososo good! Vegetarian/vegan options are great, and the Mount Fuji drink is a must try.
Truly loved my experience here! The food was excellent. The atmosphere was very fun. It must be said that the menu, aesthetic, and table setting was well thought out... As sometimes that can be looked over. Really loved the cocktails and Beet Tartare!
Great food, great atmosphere and awesome staff!
Best cocktail bar in town, so much care a thought put into the delicious food and with the best service staff!
This is probably rare, but I got food poisoning. I even got tested for COVID after feeling sick for some days and my result was negative. In the end it took 3 weeks for me to feel 100% again. I hope nobody else has this experience.
Definitely a 5 star experience!
Fantastic food! The bao definitely competes with what Ive had in major cities across CAN / USA. The service is also top notch: I arrived a little early for my takeout order and while I waited, they talked me through some of the different sake / beer / soju suggestions. I also ordered a little too much to carry and they were kind enough to pack my takeout bags into a large box for me.
Delicious tapas style Asian food. Vast drink menu. The kitchen speed is on the slower side. Their sustainability practice is an interesting solution to the waste problem in the food servicing industry. Check out their website!
Loved the food, everything tasted awesome, the tofu bao was my favorite. Beet tartare was surprisingly good, great choice for an appetizer. I grew up in Taiwan and was really looking forward to the Taiwanese pork bao, I think it would have hit home with some pickled mustard green. Other than that everything else was on point. Loved the plating and dining experience. Customer service was excellent. Gave me a nice birthday surprise. A restaurant aiming towards zero waste and sustainability is a restaurant worth supporting, a must try in Kingston. I will definitely be coming again.
Very much targeted towards the non-Asian part of Kingston if you know what I mean. This includes menu items and price points. On the plus side, decor and ambiance are quite nice. Definitely more upscale for Kingston.
Hands down my new favourite restaurant in Kingston. Spicy Korean bbq pork dish is incredible!! Awesome ambience within restaurant and excellent service.
Amazing! We had some of the best pork bao buns Ive ever eaten, and lve tried quite a few. The red Thai curry and the korean bbq pork were simply delicious! To drink, we had a cocktail, the Tom Yam Siam, which was spicy and citrusy, I highly recommend it! We also had a Sapporo beer blended with matcha: the matcha touch is subtle but truly refreshing. To finish, we were lucky enough to taste their matcha cheesecake, which was paired with a crumble, crème chantilly, marmelade and ground cherries: dont leave this restaurant without ordering it, that would be a sin! On top of that, the staff and the owner were more than welcoming and professional, they really know what hospitality means. All in all, exceptional experience!
Love Miss Bao! They have such innovative cocktails and delicious food. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. Such a great addition to kingston. Their interior design inside the restaurant is also very gorgeous. The owner really puts his heart and soul into the restaurant and you can really tell.
Wonderful atmosphere! The food is amazing, everything on the menu tastes authentic and will leave you wanting more! Must try!
This place is exactly what was missing in Kingston s already stellar food scene. I am blown away. 10/10 will be my new go to.
Excellent munchies! Had another great dinner there last night. Love the new summer menu but especially the small plate chicken and cabbage salad! Also their tom yum siam goes down easily, and their red curry. Love love love. Might go back today!
Awesome food and atmosphere, fast service. My first time trying bao (I got the tofu bao) and was not disappointed. Special shoutouts to Matt for being an awesome server while I was dining there!
Amazing drinks and meals! Will be back to finish up the cocktails menu and food too!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, and extremely helpful and friendly staff. The Korean BBQ large plate was amazing!
Yummy baos!
Ordered something I didnt know was straight booze. Owner came out, removed it, brought us an Asian Pear Mojito. Ordered chicken Bao and it was delicious and FRESH. 5 stars, all the way and will be back
Had the root vegetable salad, beet tartare, tofu bao buns, Korean BBQ pork and matcha cheesecake. All were flavourful and innovative. In addition, the staff was friendly, personable and genuine. Would definitely suggest a visit, whether it be in person or for takeout.
Very tasty and different Owner is very friendly
Friendly staff ,quality food
Food was better than I could have thought and service was very friendly.
Food is very good. Service is outstanding. Very nicely decorated interior. Price for portion is not worth it. Seasonal patio seating available.
I was pleasantly surprised with this place! I thought it would be another gentrified Asian place in the middle of a small university town but I had a great time here. They didn t have the cocktail I originally wanted but I decided to go with a Sakura martini (I don t really like martinis so I m not sure why I set myself up like that, it was way too strong for my liking). We ordered the shoyu glazed tofu bites as an appetizer, the vegetarian mushroom bao and the Taiwanese braised pork belly bao, and ended with the spicy Korean BBQ pork . The shoyu glazed tofu bites were AMAZING, I really love tofu and this was so delicious so it definitely let me have a good start to my meal. The braised pork belly bao was so tender and well seasoned but I absolutely loved the sweet shoyu muchroom bao. The only dish we were slightly disappointed was the spicy Korean BBQ pork, it came a bit cold and maybe we were just stuffed from the other dishes we got but we didnt enjoy it as much. It was still yummy but it paled in comparison to the other things we ordered. I was also pleasantly surprised that they are a zero-waste restaurant! I would definitely come back here whenever I m in the Kingston area
The best cocktail I have ever had, Tom Yam Siam, I had to have two. Chicken karaage was quality, perfectly cooked and those Bao buns were fantastic. The pork was excellently seasoned. One of my top places downtown, 7 out of 5 stars.
The food is beautiful and overall vibe is phenomenonal! The owner is very accommodating and cares a lot for their patrons. Ive been many times and will continue to go. Their needs to be more restaurant experiences like this on the city! I highly reccomend everyone check out!
Great cocktails, delicious food, and very friendly staff.
Miss Bao is a little gem in downtown Kingston. The owners have created a unique variety of Asian fusion dishes served tapas style in a beautiful setting. All dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious, accompanied by some wonderful cocktails. Tha Bao buns are exquisite. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the restaurant was very busy, to be expected on a Friday night. They also have a nice patio for an outdoor visit. Give it a try, it will not disappoint.
Amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing service
Delicious!
Super nice staff and even better food ! The owner is super friendly and the service is amazing ! Would recommend
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere and uniquely perfect drinks. This is one of our go to restaurants in Kingston for entertaining, special occasions and also just to eat some delicious food. Along with their zero waste mission - would recommend to all locals and tourists.
Loved this cute restaurant! The cocktail were very good and the bartender Matej is awesome! He made sure that our drinks were perfect to our liking, so friendly and patient! The food tasted very good as well! Will definitely visit this place again
The unbelievably delicious and creative menu is only a punctuation mark to the kind and attentive service from the owners. My favourite spot in town.
Amazing food and great service! Cocktails are unique and really fun. Would recommend.
This is the best restaurant I have been to in Kingston in my three years here. The fusion food was excellent and unique. The service was excellent and attentive. The drinks are excellent and creative. And it is affordable as well-three tapas plates, two drinks, and two mains (we ate a lot and did not even finish!) for under $100. I have never left a google review before, but I liked this spot so much I felt I had to leave a review. This was really superb and I cannot recommend it enough....GO HERE!
I lived in Vancouver for half of my life and they have some of the best Asian food in North America there, but this place could sure compete with them. Everything is super authentic and the customer service is amazing. The food and drinks on the menu are always fantastic and really flavourful! I think the best part of the restaurant is that they get everything locally and sustainably. This just makes the experience a billion times better knowing that your food is coming from somewhere that you could go to and that they respect their customers and farmers enough to prioritize top tier quality. I have never had a bad dish from here and it is genuinely one of the top 3 places in Kingston to eat at. If you havent gone here yet I would definitely recommend it.
As a local kingstonian for 20+ years. miss bao breathes new life into the rich restaurant scene in Kingston. It offers superb cocktails, insanely delicious and well priced Asian fusion meals and bao buns. Miss bao s unique atmosphere is spectacular for your Friday night date, or celebratory fine dining tapas experience. Easily my new favourite restaurant in the city, and stands above restaurants such as: tango, aqua terra, days on front, olivea and sima They even compost all of their left over organic waste into rich organic compost ! An ABSOLUTE MUST!
Great service, really good mixed drinks and food. Would recommend!
Food is great, cocktails are amazing (Tom Yam Siam is off the charts) and service is excellent! The servers put in a lot of care and the bartender is a total sweetheart. Really enjoyed our experience (enough to come rate it )
What a great experience we had at Miss B o Restaurant! The food was delicious, the service was great and the place is awesome! We ll definitely come back.
This restaurant is such an amazing addition to the Kingston community! The Taiwanese braised pork belly bao was so flavourful! They have an excellent approach to zero-waste and the food is very affordable! $35 for the bao and a drink! Will 100% be going back!
fantastic service, although I do recommend making a reservation. The food is amazing, particularly the chicken bao! 10\10 will be coming again
This place is on point and a refreshing find in K-town. The food is excellent and well priced. There is a full bar with a wide range of handcrafted, quality cocktails. Looking for something simple, then grab a local beer and try out the pork or tofu buns. There are veg, vegan, and GF options, as well as carnivore approved meat options... all while being low waste and environmentally conscious. A flavourful meal, date night, or drinks with friends. I will be returning...frequently.
