I don't live in Kingston, just here to study. But my experience with every other korean restaurants in Kingston is beyond the level of trauma. But this place is the only place that did not disappoint me.
Great food, ordered take out so cannot comment on service or atmosphere. Got the bulgogi, Japachae dupbab, and the chicken mayo w chicken sauce. Everything was very flavourful and delish! Will definitely eat again.
My food was tasty, and the atmosphere was nice--its a nice small and quiet place. However it wasnt a super enjoyable experience, the service was not very good and they charged me more than I should've. no physical menus were provided so our meal started off with everyone staring down at their phones looking at a digital menu. Vegetarian and vegan options were NOT marked on the menu. When asked about vegan options, they made a good suggestion but then brought the food out with an egg on top. They took the food back when I mentioned it and they came back one minute later with a bowl without an egg. They didn't really apologize, and when they took the bowl away they didn't let me know how long it would take to prepare a new one and I was sitting their while everyone else had their food. Luckily it was very quick. The lack of communication and just in general lack of words didn't make for a pleasant enjoyable experience though We ran out of water at our table and our pitcher was never replaced. The restaurant staff didn't check on our table after the food was served. Also note you have to go up to the counter to pay--we didn't realize that at first. Maybe a sign (or a larger sign) to indicate that would be nice, or if a server mentioned it or something that would be nice (our server didnt talk to us other than getting our order). It isn't a big deal but some more communication and conversation would have made it more pleasant. Another issue was my final bill. The waiter suggested bibimbap to me, and then asked if I wanted it in a stone bowl. A stone bowl is $2 extra and I would not have said yes if the waiter mentioned that--I feel cheated there. Additionally, the menu prices are not accurate. The stone bowl bibimbap is listed at $16.45, and I paid $19.72, which is more, even after tax. If they are charging more than the menu price then that's pretty unethical and I want my money back. My receipt isn't itemized either it just says "custom amount" which is completely unhelpful. It also doesn't show the before and after tax amounts which makes it even worse. The receipt was totally useless. They need to change that. My food was quite tasty, and the mushrooms were super flavourful. I got the tofu bibimbap in a stone bowl and it was all very flavourful. The service and shady money practices were sub par though. I don't think I will be coming here again. 2 star rating because the actual food was good once it was all sorted, but there were too many problems with the service.
The food here was authentic, flavourful and very well priced! The portions were also great and there was a fair variety on the menu. The fried chicken was very crispy and fresh. The bulgogi and bibimbap were all very flavourful and the sunny side up egg was perfect. Our server was incredibly friendly and offered us suggestions for menu items and answered many of our questions. The atmosphere was very homey and warm. We could come back!
Lovely Korean restraunt with lots of chicken options. I've been wanting to go to Podonamu for a while after hearing good things. I went for dine in and was impressed by how nice the interior was, it was modern and clean. The menu was large, it had a list of fried chicken options (although notably no seafood pancake). We got the soon tofu soup and the scallion chicken. The soup was good, but the chicken was a stand out. It came in a large portion, boneless, and was enjoyed by all! The reason I give it 4 stars is that the service I'd quite slow, the person who came 1 ahead of us ate his meal and left before we got ours, but it could have been a short staffed day. Otherwise fantastic place to go for food!
Podonamu is our favourite restaurant to visit in downtown Kingston. The Korea sauce fried chicken and jajangmyeon are must tries! A tip, if you get the chicken, make sure to ask for extra napkins!
This was one of my favourite spots to go to when I was in undergrad, and is still one of my favourite spots after recently visiting Kingston after 5 years. The atmosphere, charm, friendly service and delicious food have always made my experiences here a wonderful one. I wish I could dine here more often, but I will make it a priority to come here whenever I visit Kingston.
Compared to places I've tried, the food here was just average. The service here was very quick and attentive but I just think that they should add more variety to their menu. I ordered the spicy tuna kimbap and the beef dolsot bibimbap. The kimbap was very underwhelming. It was just rice and tuna and some other veggies with some type of gochujang-based dollop of sauce. It had okay flavour to it. The bibimbap was made with ground beef so I didn't enjoy it too much. I added the sauce to the rice but even the sauce couldn't give it an extra boost of flavour. If I do return, I'll likely try the fried chicken as they seem to have a good variety of flavours.
Best chicken I have ever tasted.
Best chicken wings Ive ever had
Took quite a while to get food as the restaurant was nearly completely full. The food tasted good but I left slightly hungry. The interior of the restaurant was nice. Don katsu was a little too saucy imo.
Stone pot bibimbap is delicious. If you come to Kingston, be sure to try it.
Best korean food in canada!!! I visit whenever I want to eat Korean food, and its always so delicious :) The servers are also friendly. Highly recommended~~~!~!!
I didn t like the experience here. The service was very slow. Food was not good as well. I don t recommend going here.
I dont like the food here. Doesnt taste like authentic Korean food
One of my favourite spots in Kingston. The main lady who works in the front of house is always so kind and lovely. They make the best Dubokki in town!
Great place for gatherings. Food is excellent and staff are too! Definitely recommend some soju with bibimbap!!
Truly excellent food and service.
Of course it was stylish, and I was grateful for the friendly service.
Been this restaurant for years! Food with good portion, delicious, never disappointed. Best Korean restaurant in town!
Amazing authentic food!! Highly recommend to try if you want o experience Korean food!
Chicken mayo! Chicken mayo! Chicken mayo!
best korean food in canada tbh try the mayo chicken
I ordered a large lunch with my favourite Korean dishes so I could bring home leftovers and they did not disappoint. After a busy morning at work this tasty food made my day and re-energized me to keep working. I will definitely order takeout/eat there again!
i love coming here!! to say it into words wouldnt be able to describe my experiences here
Certainly didnt expect to find this high quality Korean food in Kingston! Tastes very authentic and the prices are quite reasonable.
It tastes good, but the serving speed is a bit slow. It s surprising that there is such a Korean restaurant in Kingston.
Just finished their renovations and the food is amazing as always.
To be honest, the food here is exceptional, however the service is really disappointing. I found a hair in my food just now, and the waitress s response to me was: I will just scoop that piece out and you can have the rest. with out even apologizing. When I told her that I m not comfortable with the food anymore she looked at me in confusion, and said you can just eat the rest At this point I m not even angry any more her way of handling this it s just so ridiculous. Luckily I complained this to a different server and got my food remade, hence it is a 2 star instead of 1 :)
The food was amazing! My family of 4 came and we order enough to feed a small village, and ate it all! The service is great too! Definitely visit.
Its probably good for the locals, but as a tourist, this is not worth it. No potatoes and Kimchi in the pork bone soup, mediocre tasting bibimbap too.
Best korean food in Canada.
Had an amazing meal and they are so friendly there even with the kids
If I could give more stars I would, love the food, and the service is always top notch and very friendly to our kids. Kid-friendliness: The owner is honestly the most welcoming human ever to my kids.
Best Korean food in Kingston!!! I love the donksatsu and the budae soup so much it fills me up with joy! Food : 5/5
Best place ever the staff are great
AMAZING!
YUMMYYYY!!! Really enjoyed my experience
Amazing food.
Ordered through Uber eats. Food was great minus the hard burnt egg on my bulgogi
Went there with two more people. We ordered some fried chicken to start and intended to get more food later. It took them one hour to deliver a single large portion of fried chicken. We gave up on eating anything else and proceeded to pay. We simply asked them to divide the bill by three, but they made such a mess that, after we had paid and were already outside, an employee came running towards us saying we did not pay the whole bill because they had calculated it wrong. We did not hear a single apology and they were rude during the whole process even though all mistakes were on their end. Their rudeness and lack of organization ruined our night. If you don t want any stress, do not go to Podonamu.
This used to be my favorite Korean spot in Kingston. Not anymore. Today it took close to an hour for my order to arrive(56 minutes to be precise). All the people that arrived later than us got served before us. The food was ok but in a less generous serving than usual. The main problem happened during the time to pay. The guy in the register charged us the wrong amount. We paid what they told us and went outside to wait for our Uber. The guy came to look for us saying we did it pay for a part of the bill. I felt so embarrassed. The lady inside kept pressing us to pay quickly and go away while we were inside trying to make sense of the situation. We didn t do anything wrong. We paid the amount we were told. We were nothing but gracious with the staff even with the very very very long delay. The amount of ways in which this establishment treated us wrongly today is uncanny. I m in shock.
One of the BEST in Kingston
Great food. Good service. Loved the bibimbap and fried chicken.
Again, I ordered from Fantuan Delivery, the best Asian food delivery, everyone must try it.
Amazing, homey, down to earth, Korean food. As if mom was making it with the ingredients in her own kitchen.
Food is actually insane, inside is well renovated, its a bit small but that doesnt determine the quality of the restaurant.
Amazing! Just had the most delicious lunch here. The service was great, and the food was incredible! Cant wait to eat here again!
Consistently tasty jjajangmyun, spicy soft tofu soup, spicy chicken with rice, spicy squid with rice, and spicy fried rice cakes. Good portion for the price.
Showed up for a special occasion and all they had was a sign outside the door saying they were closed. zero notice on any social medias. Really disappointing since this was my bfs favorite place and he is moving out of Kingston this weekend. Please inform your customers better
In love with their chicken mayo rice bowl. Really nice and cozy place
Tried their Mayo Chicken. It was one of those experiences where I took 1 bite and immediately turned to my friend and told him I wanted him to try some because it was so good. Bibimbap was pretty good although not as exciting as the chicken.
As I am Korean, I visit a lot of Korean restaurants downtown. The food is just... not that special and bland. (It seems to be targeting foreigners) The owner and staff seem to run the business in a family... but they talk about the customers behind their backs. It happened about 3 months ago, but it suddenly occurred to me, so Im writing it down.~
I love this place. Waitstaff are very friendly, always feels like a family environment. Food is delicious, and I ve both eaten in and had take out, and have never been disappointed by either. There s and older woman who works here, my girlfriend and I just call her Grandma. She s incredibly sweet, and made our night. Strong recommendation.
Food so good that you can speak Korean after eating this, this is the SOUL FOOD.
Wow! One of the best food I ve eaten.
Food was soo good. I forgot how to speak.
This is my favourite place to get food in Kingston. I would highly recommend the fried chicken and pork bone soup. The service is always very slow - even when the place is not that packed.
The wait is long, but the food is so good. Worth a visit if you are craving for great Korean Chicken!!!!!
Sooo good M1
I took an hour for our meal to come up. And the budea soup took 15min to boil up. It turns out they did not change the gas tank before, so it was very weak. Overall bad experience
Food was okay, but service was delayed and inconsistent. It took 50 minutes for food to arrive.
One of my friend has suggested this place and no doubt they serve the best Korean crispy Chicken, specially their creamy onion chicken was amazing.
Great korean cusine in town
They close
Cheap, tasty, good location in downtown Kingston. Casual dining, good to go with friends or alone. This place is especially popular at dinner time. Very enjoyable Korean food - a simple mom and pop shop with lovely home-cooking. I always come for a meal here when I m in Kingston.
Food is good but dont order UberEats from here. The packaging was terrible. My stew was placed in a flimsy styrofoam container that bent and warped with the other containers in the bag. This caused a huge spill and a terrible mess on my other items. I wish PodoNamu would upgrade their takeout packaging for liquids, it really is unacceptable.
Firat time Ordering we did not skip on the dishes we wanted and Im glad we didnt. I used skip the dishes and even when its take out its still phenomenal. I ordered Korean sauce fried chicken Bibimbop Cheese sticks Donkatsu I recommend everything except the cheese sticks but its definitely something you should order in restaurant.
I had gamjatang and it was seasoned just right and delicious.
Amazing food and amazing customer service!! Could not ask for better Korean food!
This is hands down the best Korean restaurant in town! The staff is always so nice, the food comes quick, and I have yet to have a single disappointment with any of their dishes. I would give a ten star rating if it were possible.
Best Korean fried chicken Ive had. Sweet and spicy sauce. It will make you feel like everything is ok in the world. still good the next day.
This is called Chicken Mayo. As I don t eat red meat this is one of the best Korean food I tried in Kingston. I did a Uber eats once and went back to get it again. A MUST TRY!!!
this place hands down has best fried chicken in downtown kingston
Absolutely amazing. One of the best Korean food places in Kingston. Been there twice and every time the service is amazing.
Great place. Had a wonderful meal and time.
Food are delicious and 100% certified Korean dishes. Staff are friendly as well.
Wow! Just came in for an appetizer. Not many but we chose the dumplings (pork). Amazing, best Ive had and there were 8 for $8!! Definitely recommend!!
Awesome food! Customer service could be slightly improved but other than that no complains. Would give 4.5 stars if possible.
Very authentic Korean food! Zhajiang Noodles Army Hotpot is a great food!
Loved the food, super filling. Lovely servers. Very mindful to vegan/vegetarians. Very welcoming place.
Really good Korean food! Love the pork soup! Pretty good service as well!
its good
Not the best Korean food I ve ever had, but by far the best out of the Korean restaurants in Kingston. However, they always seem to have only one server working, no matter how busy it is (and I ve come here probably dozens of times over the years). You also seem to get food faster when you do takeout than eat in. I d recommend getting takeout if you come here, which is kind of a shame as Korean food should be eaten piping hot.
Check out this quaint little spot on princess Street, food was amazing we had the chicken Mayo and beef bulgogi and a couple of really nice tofu appetizers. This place is definitely going to see my business again.
fantastic chimkem
Their fried chicken was good. Besides that, the rest of the menu was okay. Their flavouring is a bit bland and I find that their Korean hot pepper paste was not as concentrated or prominent as I would like in my food. There are not enough servers for this place and its a bit disorganized.
I can feel the sincerity in making the food.
Great bibimbap.
Great food, but might need to wait a bit longer than other restaurants
Best korean restaurant in Kingston!!
We found this small welcoming restaurant by chance, simply walking up the street from parking the car, and had the best meal in Kingston. Imagine: on a cold rainy evening, a bowl of the most amazing bibimbap: a hot, large bowlful of rice and chicken with lots of tasty toppings at a good price, too. Wonderful and tasty food, welcoming, attentive staff, unstuffed atmosphere. And so happy it took us away from from restaurant chains and look-alike hopefuls. Definitely our #1 eating place in Kingston - and hoping to visit again soon!
Great food, slow service.
Chicken Mayo was delicious
Love the food here. And this place is very cosy to sit.
Chicken mayo! MUST TRY!
Out of all the Korean restaurants Ive tried in Kingston, it ranks 1/1. Recommended!
Love this place!
Amazing Korean food with friendly service. Always enjoyable.
Good food, good chicken. Can get cold sitting near the door if people are coming and going
This place is a god-send. Ive been here at least 10 times now over 1.5 years. Although the food usually takes 30-40 mins to come out, its worth every second. The place has really nice vibes, and the food is AMAZING. Absolute treat of a spot. If I had more money Id come here daily.
It is hard to see it is a Korean restaurant. It is seem like the owner of the store know nothing about Korean cuisine. As a traditional Korean cuisine, before the meal, a lot of free dishes will be displayed for costumers. There is no extra charge for adding the appetizers. This restaurant is terrible. When I order a beef rice, there are tiny pieces of beef foams float on the top of the rice. The only flavour that you can get is salt, like the flavour of the snow on the street. Vegetables are dehydrated, meat seems keep a long time. Never go again! Kingston is awesome except you!!!!!!!!!!
Theres a reason why its so busy - its really great!
This is a lovely restaurant right downtown. Its usually very busy on weekends but weve rarely had to wait for a table. Their fried chicken is really delicious (especially with Korean spicy sauce), and the dolsot bibimbap is fantastic. I love the atmosphere there, with many families and groups of friends sharing big dishes of food. Highly recommend! Picture: dukbokki, half and half chicken
Great food!
It s a great place with the best pork bone stew in town. Their hours of operation is a bit unpredictable. My friends and I have encountered several times that the restaurant is closed during operation time they posted. Always have a backup plan ;)
Good food and good prices. They offer a discount on the days dish
Fantastic food, solid prices, and only a few steps from the heart of downtown Kingston - a definite recipe for a good time.
Really cute and cozy restaurant, and the service was lovely. I really enjoyed the bibimbap -- it was piping hot, the ingredients were super fresh, and it tasted great. I would love to come back and try the jijangmyun.
Pork bone soup was okay but broth was lacking spices and the garlic fried chicken was terrible. Fat chicken that had a taste of freezer
Absolutely addicted to the sweet and sour spicy chicken. This is my go to restaurant. It is authentic korean and you can tell it is worth going by how busy it always is. Sometimes you may have to wait, but that is down to how busy it is. Overall I recommend it to everyone.
Cool
worse than before
Good food
The Korean restaurant I found in Kingston exceeded my expectations.
The fried chicken is amazing. Small but cozy inside.
We got seated right away even though it looked like the place was pretty busy. The waitress was super on top of things, she got us our water, appetizers, and first drink orders very quickly. I struggled with finding something I would like on the menu, I told her I wanted beef and not spicy and she picked out the perfect dish, Japchae. It was exactly what I needed. I highly recommend explored their appetizers with some friends and trying out some of the unique drinks they have if you just want to dip your toe in the water. The banana milk and milkis are out of this world. Overall a really great experience, an impressive amount of food for the price, and fast/friendly service to boot!
Service was great a little slow but not bad even on a busy day Amazing food 5 Stars
The best C6 sweet and sour boneless chicken in Kingston, hotpot and Korean cheese sticks.
Very nice staff, food was delicious.
Unreal food
Fried chicken taste great but relatively smaller portion compared with The Fry
Fried chicken was delicious.
Lovw the bibimbap, spicy tofu and cheese sticks here! Great food and good prices too.
the food is absolutely amazing the pork bone soup is the best, but the service is a little bit slow.overall, its a decent reastuarant
Excellent fried chicken! Must try if youre in the area. Although it is a little small and crowded (especially during peak dinner time), its definitely worth it for the food.
Delicious authentic Korean dishes, Chicken Mayo is the must try in the menu.
Fast service and great food. Ordered the veggie dolsot bibimbap and the portion was so large I could barely finish. Excellent value!
My favorite Korean restaurant in kingston. I love there kimchi pancake, fried chicken and bibimbap. Its the great quality and feels like family business. Doesnt work on Mondays and closes between lunch and dinner for a break, so be aware. And I have to say the price is a little above average ...
Gim Bap and ramen on tuesdays. if you dont know what this is... I feel bad for your taste buds. go to podo namu on tuesday and get Gim Bap with some ramyun. its pure bliss.
Best Korean restaurant in Kingston
Very good Korean restaurant in town! Succulent dishes! Nothing else to say ! I highly recommend
Need to clean their dishes more carefully. Will never go back.
The Korean food is authentic and tasty, and they offer Korean-style fried chicken which is quite good. The service is a bit lacking, though it has improved lately.
A place where you can eat tteokbokki, kimchi, and chicken, run by a Korean, parking available right in front, $1.25 for one hour.
This place has delicious kimchi stew. Their food is close to homemade style Korean food. This sill be my go-to place when I want Korean food.
Price a little bit higher than expected and the service part could also be improved (the waitress) though food is nice
Amazing food. I had no idea Korean food was so good until I came here. The service is a bit slow but totally worth the wait. Eat here and enjoy. Vegan and Vegetarian options as well (I am not either of those but thought I would mention for those that are).
wait for too long time
Service is not so good, but the food was good!
service is very veryyyy slow the restaurant is understaffed.
The restaurant is delicious ^^
Manner bad, Too much MSG. I m really disapointed. Gangnam style is so much better.
to the person below, are you a gangnam style employee? I found that the food and service was great :)
Really slow!
Fun cuisine. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food. Price was right. We will certainly go back.
Good menu with tasty options. Friendly and helpful staff. Atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Always good
